Alright not to like liveblog my breakdown on main but yesterday was a really bad day after a really bad, like, 4 months, and I've hit a bit of a breaking point and one of the only things in my life that can give is running @mdzsartreblogs , @tgcfartreblogs , @svsssartreblogs , @erhaartreblogs , @tykartreblogs , and @cnovelartreblogs , so that is what has to give. It's been a 99-out-of-100 days thankless job. A small number of people do say thank you and yall I appreciate you so much (HUGE shout-out to the artist I met at Flamecon who gifted me a zine when I said I ran these blogs, @bonesblubs you rock) but I have never done an act of fandom labor simultaneously this labor intensive yet this invisible before and, uh. It sucks. I spend an hour or more a day on this every day, if it's under 2k hours since I started the first of these in September 2020 I'd be shocked. And I do it because I love it but doing it means I don't have time or energy to do other things I love. And I really don't want to just quit, but I can't keep this up.

In a last-ditch effort to try not to just give up, I'm making the following changes:

1. Only watching one tag per fandom for the MXTX fandoms. I am going to check *only* #tgcf, #svsss, and #mdzs. Artwork posted to any other tag, I will not see unless a mutual reblogs it.

2. Reduced tagging (even more). I'm only going to tag characters and maybe overarching au type (eg, "modern au," "fantasy au"). I'll no longer tag creatures. I will continue to tag the same common trigger warnings I already tag.

3. If a work's appearance doesn't make it obvious what it is AND the tags aren't clear, I'm not going to reblog. I can't keep spending 5 minutes or more trying to figure out what I'm even looking at, scared that if I guess wrong the artist will get mad at me for mistagging their work. If I do reblog, I'll tag only the artist name and/or whatever else I can identify for sure.

4. I am no longer going to follow #link click. The fandom is just too big. I've started dreading checking it. If I was more into it and less busy I would make another spin off just for it but neither of those is true. (The art is so good, I hate to do this, but. If you love link click, highly recommend the main tag, lots of great stuff there.)

5. I will no longer tag any non-cnovel content in the art/post. Like, if someone draws, idek, Xie Lian and Marinette from Ladybug, I'm not gonna put any tags for Marinette, just for Xie Lian.

6. Basically if I run into something hard to tag or confusing or unclear, my new policy is I'm not gonna fricken bother.

I think those are everything but idefk, I cried for 3 hours last night and got 4 hours of sleep so I'm mostly fueled by exhaustion and desperation right now and my memory is even more fried than usual.

How artists can help. This is obviously all optional. You do you. But since some people might want to know what would make my life easier, I'm sharing. I'm not claiming I feel entitled to dictate how people fandom or anything like that.

1. Put the tags for the character(s) and ship(s) early in the tag list.

2. If you make art for a fandom that isn't one of the big ones (right now the only big danmei fandoms on tumblr as far as I can tell are the MXTX fandoms and maybe 2ha) I am begging you to use my tracked tag #cnovelartreblogs

3. Do mdzs art? Tag #mdzs. Do tgcf art? Tag #tgcf. Do svsss art? Tag #svsss.

4. Not only artists, but everyone, *please* stop tagging fandoms not discussed and/or depicted in your post. It's gotten to be stupid common for people to blanket the danmei fandom tags with posts only about one fandon (like, svsss-only works also being tagged mdzs and tgcf and 2ha for some damn reason). This isn't about just my sideblogs tbh this is just fandom etiquette that seems to have been forgotten or never learned by many. Tagging unrelated fandoms isn't "reach," it's annoying. People go into the #mdzs tag to see mdzs, not whatever not-mdzs stuff people have decided to tag for ~reach~, and seeing the same post in 8 tags, none of which it's related to, is so damn irritating, and makes scrolling the tags looking for content that IS relevant take that much longer. Knock it off.

Okay. I think that's as much as I'm prepared to meltdown where everyone can see. Thanks in advance everyone for your understanding, and apologies to everyone about to see this 8 times as I reblog it to each sideblog.

At least I'm not tagging it to everywhere. 🤣🤣🤣

hi! i hope you're doing well! not sure if you've ever answered a question like this before but I'm trying to start a simblr and have no idea where to start, i love ur page and the content you put out. do you have any tips for newcomers or people trying to get started?

helloo anon, thank u for reaching out!! having only really started getting into simblr last summer, i also had no idea where to ‘start.’

for me i’d just participate in sim challenges to acclimate myself to simblr. still, i only started enjoying myself when i started to develop a more distinct style that felt like me!! till this day i sort of stick to the same cas type content and hardly deviate from it, but it’s what clicks best for me :3

as for advice for newer simmers i’d say…

1. don’t take it too seriously- especially when it comes to getting discouraged by engagement/numbers

2. play around with what type of posts will click naturally for you creatively! it’s good to be inspired by others but personally I find myself gravitating to simblrs that shows their individuality and own taste :)

3. keep your blog organized!! don’t clutter tags & mistagging things like ‘cc’ as means to get more notes. only the first 5 tags go into tagged search

4. follow other simblrs & reach out to others. leaving nice messages are a great way to make mutuals

honestly Adam, I think people forget his feminist vegan punk gf broke up with him for being "too angry" (which implies he is VERY angry due to the general stereotype of feminists, vegans, and punks all being angry types of people individually let alone when someone is all of those identities at once), like he's not a smol softe innocent bean he's a cunt LMAO

ok so I haven't blocked anyone in this fandom YET but I admit I get close whenever I see C/stas M/ndylor's stupid little ugly-ass right-wing face in the HOFFMAN tag when he's NOT BEING HOFFMAN like first of all he's only hot when he's Hoffman, if I have to see him with a mustache one more time I might end it all, secondly can we stop simping for actors and every role they've ever been in because we like one (1) role, down the road of simpery lies nothing but pain and disappointment

Hi Everyone,

You probably haven’t heard from me (Mod Supremequeenofthenerds) in a while and there’s a reason for that.

Last year the original mod of this blog, @melanoradrood, brought me and one other person on to help her with the blog. I don’t know where she is right now and I can’t get a hold of her, but I am sure real life happened and she got busy, which I completely understand. The trouble started right before DamereyWeek happened. I tried to work with the other mod on this blog, the mod who is currently running this blog, to see if we could work together to figure out the event together. What happened was this: Starting about two months before the event, there were over 80 posts in our queue at the time (yes I counted). There were so many so that the queue was still posting during the actual event and caused a distraction. When I tried to point this out to the other mod, she lashed out at me saying that no one told her not to inundate the queue with content (duplicated or mistagged or, in one notable case, gory and triggering and genuinely almost made me throw up when I saw it without warning).

When I brought this up to the other mod she lashed out at me and claimed that she was just posting what was in the tag and that she had never stopped me from posting what I wanted to post even when she had already posted everything that she possibly could.

She would even share my own personal fic announcements from my blog before I had a chance to add them to the queue on my own and then she yelled at me that she “couldn’t read my mind and didn’t know that I wanted to post them”. 

I have posted 4 of the last 600+ posts that were posted since Jan 1st 2020, I genuinely don’t even know how many she has posted at this point. And before that I only posted a few that were relevant because of how many were already in the queue and the ones directly related to Damereyweek2019.

Another thing of note, was how uncooperative this mod is, when I tried to make a suggestion she would run over me with her ideas, with how she wanted to micromanage people, and with how everything needed to be run to her specifications and understanding otherwise it would be a complete failure. She steamrolled over my 10+ years of fandom experience and tried to “explain” things incorrectly to me. She also got mad that our little corner of the fandom does not produce as much content as the other larger fandoms she’s in, which is just not realistic. If there are 100 creators there will be as many content posts as they can produce. When there are 50,000 creators, they will create as much as they can produce and will produce a lot more than a smaller fandom can. When I tried to explain things like this to her she continued to get defensive and lashed out at me and tried to tell me that I was stupid to think this fandom would produce enough to make 1 week’s worth of content for Damereyweek

In my opinion, a blog that is supposed to be a fun hobby shouldn’t be run like a business with a coworker who treats you like crap.

 You may ask why it’s taken me this long to break from the blog. To break from her. To be quite honest, it was egotistical of me. I wanted to make sure that my content was still being promoted and that you guys who don’t follow my personal blog or follow me on AO3 also saw the posts. I have heard this mod say that the minute she disagrees with something someone says she will “slam the door on them” because of her MBTI profile or whatever. And since the fight she’s not touched a thing I’ve posted, thankfully. IDK about most of you, but that really isn’t a healthy way to live when your policy is applicable to trivial fandom things or things that are not of high importance. There are some things I will slam the door on people for, but a bot misposting something it wasn’t supposed to because it couldn’t pick up human error is not one of them. 

 Another reason I didn’t want to break from this blog was because I was afraid that she would send hate messages to me and spike my anxiety once again. And I don’t know how many others out there would believe her over me. I genuinely love so many people in this fandom and I can’t imagine you all sending hate messages over anything like this, but it was still in the back of my mind. My hands are literally shaking as I write this. 

But I’m done. Maybe this quarantine is giving me perspective or something, idk, but I am done with this blog and the reaction it causes in me each time I see the name of it.

This was supposed to be a fun blog where people got to share ideas and pics and have fun, and all it has become for me is a source of anxiety and I’m done with it. If @melanoradrood (who brought us both on to help out with this blog) ever wants to collab on something I am more than happy to. But I am slamming the door on this other mod for my own sanity. I have been belittled and gaslit and for a time I couldn’t even look at this blog’s icon without starting to get a panic attack. I am looking out for me right now, and working on getting myself to a better place surrounded by people who don’t cause anxiety.

This was in no way meant as a guilt trip for anyone. If you want to continue following this blog or being friends with this mod that is your prerogative. This whole rant was purely about me and my relationship to the blog and why I am quitting, I am not trying to put anyone in any awkward situation, or make anyone feel like they can’t interact with this blog or the other mod’s personal blog. I just need to leave.

EDITED TO SAY SOME TRULY NICE FOLKS (NOT BEING SARCASTIC) HAVE POINTED OUT THAT I’VE MISTAGGED THIS POST AND SHOULD HAVE PUT ANTI IN FRONT OF THE TAGS I USED. I NOW KNOW AND WILL BE MINDFUL GOING FORWARD.

Potential spoilers inside...

I’m not sure how many people out there will agree with me but Iris West is one of the most annoying characters on tv everrrrrr. She is my least favorite person on tv right now for so many reasons. Yes yes, she’s who supposed to end up with Barry but man does she rub me the wrong way! 

Where do I start? 

1. Iris is manipulative (ultimatums thrown at Eddie, flirting with Barry after she finds out he’s interested in Linda etc)

2. Iris is a control freak

3. Iris has a deep seated need to belong and so inserts herself where she does not belong (much like Laurel from Arrow)

4. Really, what is her role in the group??

From the beginning, I never liked how Iris didn’t seem to know that Barry liked her or was in love with her. It’s a ridiculous idea that she was so clueless to the way he looked at her at the very least! And this is after years and years of them knowing each other. This is one of her smaller sins and I guess for the sake of the show, we’ll have to suspend our belief here.

She was particularly nasty when Eddie couldn’t share with her what was going on at work with The Flash (thanks to Joe) and really, why should he share sensitive work stuff when she herself would have died before revealing a source to anyone? Double standard much? She then only starts flirting with Barry once Linda came on the scene. Yuck. I feel as though, if he and Felicity were to be given a chance around that time (not now tho - OLICITY ALL THE WAY! LOL!) Iris would not have stood a chance because Felicity would have been his rock and his intellectual equal. She’s sexy as hell and would be able to talk sense in to him when needed. Iris would not have been able to realistically squeeze in there between them.

As the show has gone on and she’s now in the know, she spends her days at the lab (seriously, does she work anymore?) getting in the way, literally running from one team member to the next asking questions and really just being useless. Over time, she’s just grown to be the one who opposes everything or the one who causes trouble whenever she decides to work for a living and be a “reporter”. How many times has Iris put herself in the way for the team (read Barry) to come rescue her? It’s like she knows she’s utterly useless and when she’s particularly down and out about it, she runs off to do something dumb to have them come save her and reassure her that she’s valid. Last season I was cheering when I saw that Savitar had “killed” her. That probably makes me not so nice BUT remember it’s just a character not a real person LOL! They killed off another character who had a chance at love so that she could survive and so that she and Barry could continue their dance.

Let’s talk about when Wally got his powers. Oh man, the green eyed monster reared its ugly head once again. She was so upset that she began throwing tantrums and outright forbidding her grown brother from using his powers all under the guise of her fearing for his safety. Come on! It was so obvious that she was jealous that everyone around her (except for her dad who really didn’t care for all that) had powers and she didn’t. She tried to scare Wally in to sitting out missions and when that didn’t work, she tried to guilt him. When that too failed, she went sulking to Barry who molly coddled her as usual. He then proclaimed that he couldn’t do what he did without her. Like seriously, Barry, nearly everyone on the team, past and present, even those from other shows namely Oliver and Felicity have been able to reassure and point Barry in the right direction. Iris really is not needed.

Fast forward to when the Samurai came to town demanding that The Flash come out and play and while Barry was in in his stupor (side bar - see what I’m talking about when I say that Iris is one contrary cow? The team wants to bring back Barry and she’s all NO! and she’s scared and then gets angry that Sisco - being an independent person and a friend of Barry’s - goes ahead and works on bringing him back. Like Sisco needed her darned permission! I think that she just liked being in charge and pushing everyone around in Barry’s absence. SMH!) she goes up to the Samurai and gets it to take her so that Barry would be so shook he’d come out of his stupor and go save her. Sigh. It worked and that annoyed me. It would have been great to see that absolutely fail and she have an “OH CRAP” moment. But nah, the show went all cliche and he snapped out of it in time to save her. 

Yay.

Last week’s episode made me grind my teeth when she got all mad that Barry was doing his thing (the writers wanted to show that she had some worth by making him make extra stupid decisions that made her look like she was right) and not consulting her. Like really, he has to ask her to blow off “training”? He’s the darned Flash that came back better than when he went in and she wants him to consult with her on training? Yep, not controlling at all. And that speech she gave him about he’s not The Flash, We are The Flash - GRRRRRR - she’s almost as needy as Laurel was in The Arrow... hiding behind bushes watching Sarah and Oliver go save the day. I’ve never rejoiced more so than when Laurel kept getting beaten up in the beginning LOLOL! Man, when can we see Iris getting some humble pie served to her? Poor Barry, that crap can only work on him because he’s so smitten with her. Might not work with another guy but Barry’s an easy fish. 

And now to yesterday’s episode when they were in forced therapy (we see Iris forcing therapy and a wedding on this poor sap and so as not to upset her, he goes along with it even though he has misgivings about it) she blurts out how angry she is with him because he just left her there (and went in to the speed force) - I was so mad when she said that. Like, wasn’t the world around them LITERALLY tearing apart because of the void in the speed force? Did he have a choice? Was there an easy and immediate option for them other than him going in to the speed force and correcting his mistake? How was it now all about her? Barry did not have a choice and this is just another but BIG example of how this character twists things to make everything all about her. 

She’s manipulated her father, her brother, been nasty to her dying mother, played with both Barry’s and Eddie’s emotions and forced herself on a team that has been doing fine without her interference. She knows she won’t be missed if she ACTUALLY went to work - so she continues to be there in the lab being one of the most annoying characters on tv right now.

Commentary: I have literally always been baffled by how well Re(a)d All Over did. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's very cute, but why that one specifically SO MUCH? It's fascinating. Not What I Meant to Do and If I Die Young make sense to me because they were posted during the initial surge of MCU during 2012-2014. Superfamily is kind of a niche though, so it's kind of surprising that three of my most popular fics are those? And not just Steve/Tony. Although I guess they're also longer and most of my Steve/Tony is pretty short.
