my post yesterday about why I don't really care if Louis Tomlinson supports starbucks shocked me by actually circulating and getting notes and obviously I like validation and appreciation.... but I feel kind of weird about my big contribution to the topic being something that might come off as discouraging attempts to help Palestine. Feeling powerless in the face of such injustice is horrible and scary and traumatizing and while there are certain things that I do not think make much difference (like boycotting irrelevant targets), that's NOT how I feel about the situation in general! We CAN make a difference and help the Palestinian people! It can feel impossible to fight against all that power and propaganda and military might- but it has been done successfully over and over, colonialism has been destroyed in one place after another a hundred times in the last century, apartheid regimes have fallen, occupations have ended, because over and over, always, even all the military might in the literal world is less powerful than a united front of the PEOPLE. As Ursula K LeGuin said, "We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings", and as Louis Tomlinson said "The power and magic comes from the people, you guys. Don't undermine your role in all of this" and "get off the 'gram and into the streets"!
Under the cut are things you can do that I believe actually directly impact the Palestinian people and the Israeli government, including some easy ones, and the key to a successful movement is to have every type of contribution, to have NUMBERS. However- it is also necessary to have people willing to do the actual work of fighting injustice, not just changing their consumer habits or yelling at people online. I strongly encourage people to explore becoming physically involved in activist work, and not to see it as yet another tiring obligation but rather as a way to help yourself feel less overwhelmed and exhausted. Feeling powerless and defenseless is a trauma that follows us into every corner of our lives, but standing up and working for change can not only save lives, but is good for your own mental health as well, I promise.
I can't make you an exhaustive list of resources, only tell you some tactics that I believe are actually useful. I'm not an expert or whatever, but I have been actively involved in social justice advocacy, activism, and direct action for over 20 years and am drawing on that history of both things that worked and were great and things that were not from my personal experiences. Thank you to @captainrayzizuniverse for helping me (but she didn't see the post any stupid things said by mistake are entirely on me), and especially for pointing out a big (typical white person) slip up, which was to almost forget the very first item on this list: Listen to, support, and amplify Palestinian voices!!! The whole starbucks issue wouldn't even exist if people just went by this single important guideline and did the things Palestinians were asking for rather than making up other things to do instead. In life altogether, and speaking as a disabled person god does this come up a lot: if you want to help someone, start by asking them what they need and then do that even if it isn't what you think they should want. Don't fucking wing it!! Join local groups organizing for Palestine: the people united are powerful, but only if they are united and working in large groups! Join a group! This is hard because... how? who? And I can't answer that for everyone but I can tell you that in the US JVP (Jewish Voice for Peace) is doing a huge amount of very accessible recruiting, you can just join (you don't need to be Jewish) and get involved straightaway in the great actions they're putting on. PYM (Palestinian Youth Movement) is not open to everyone to join but you should definitely follow them on SM to keep up on actions and maybe find ways to support. If you're a student I bet there is some kind of group at your school?
Go to protests: protest works, period. The general politician rule of thumb is that anyone who bothers to actually go out and march represents 10-100 voters. When they look at the numbers (like- '500-1000 people protested the most recent bill you signed') they do this math and they worry. But also honestly if it's something you can manage- it's good for you. It helps. Even if you just go alone and don't talk to anyone, being in a crowd of hundreds of people feeling the same things you are, caring as much as you do, it helps. If you can, yell along to the chants as loud as you can. Get fired up and use that energy to keep going and not despair!
Call and write officials: if you live in the US or UK this is HUGE. What I said above about how they count people at protests as standing for more people who didn't bother but agree? Same with phone calls for sure, it REALLY pressures them. Many orgs make this really easy- I get emails all the time with links to send a letter in a single click or click to call and all you have to do is read the script, get on some lists I guess? But many sites also have this feature, JVP does for example
Support BDS: the Palestinian led BDS have been doing the work of isolating and chipping away at Israel for 19 years and like I said, the actions of the masses only work if we are united behind a few strategic targets rather than all over the place; they have made this possible. It's good to avoid buying from the companies they target; even better to work on the big divestment campaigns. For example, student groups pressuring the big universities to divest from BDS targets echo the successful University divestment efforts that helped end apartheid in South Africa.
Send money: money helps, immediately and concretely, and again if we are many, each person doesn't have to do a lot. Do what you can spare, it all adds up. This has been painful with Gaza for sure, with millions donating but aid being blocked. I don't have The Answer but here's a group I found that actually seems to be getting aid in, and here's a spread sheet of gofundmes- note that people who have foreign passports do not have to pay the horrible border crossing fees, so you may wish to focus on funding those who don't have that privilege. this could maybe be better and there was some other stuff I wanted to say about doing activism to tie up the "activism as self care" thing from above and also bringing it back around to talk about Louis more but I'm tired and I'm hungry right now and this is a lot already. So. Bye lol sorry. send me asks if any of that is something you care about or want to hear

You know what🧐 I wouldn’t mind a “A Day in the Life of Frost/POV I ain’t gonna lie he has been growing on me😭 he really be there for reader and joker like he’s giving mad father figure vibes😭 plus I want to see him and his daughter’s interaction some more
His Lighthouse: A Frosty Outlook (LedgerJoker x f!reader)
A Frosty Outlook- Oneshot
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In this house we stan Frost. I was inspired to write this by this post lol. I hope you enjoy!
Side note: I suck at writing first person so its not a true POV but its still good. I had too much fun with this one but when don't I have fun?
There is a slight irregularity with this fic being canon with His Lighthouse. In the series chapter Fear Is the Only Way, Joker told Frost “I didn’t know you had a family...” to which Frost fired back saying “I didn’t know you had a girl.”
This is pure sarcasm, people. Joker knows that Frost has a daughter and Frost obviously knows that Joker has a (future) girlfriend. But denial is a river in Egypt. Once again, I hope you enjoy I made myself cross eyed trying to edit this in the dark lol.

There was no such thing as a day off when you work for a literal madman.
Frost knew that better than anyone as the right hand man to The Joker. Work never stopped. There was always someone to kill, money to collect, a city to burn, on top of personal errands and/or favors to run on Joker's behalf. There was always something to do.
There was hardly any time for a personal life which was why majority of the people under Joker's employ did not have families or loved ones. It interfered with work, made a person distracted, and Joker did not like distractions. However, Frost was an exception.
Frost and Joker went wayyy back and he was the closest thing to a friend that J had. Frost was the first henchman that Joker hired and a decade later, he was still the man to call on in any situation.
Trust and unwavering loyalty were forged from their mysterious bond and so rules that would normally apply to Joker's employees became more lax when it pertained to Frost.
He received a higher pay, had actual benefits and health care, and most importantly.. Frost was allowed days off. Not in the traditional sense– he never turned off his phone, but he was given time away from the gang to spend time with his family.
Joker would always be a priority in Frost's life but his little girl came first.
In the beginning she was a mistake. Frost was prepared to walk out on his lover at the time until she slapped a sonogram on the table.
The second Frost's eyes laid on his baby girl; he was a changed man. He thought about quitting Joker's gang but no one ever quits and remains alive, so he confronted Joker about his current dilemma.
"Who's baby? Eck, get rid of it." Joker cringed and kept walking into his office but stopped when Frost spoke up.
"She's mine, Joker. She's... I never asked you for anything so hear me out. I ain't giving her up and I'm not leaving your employ so.." The office was quiet as Frost's words tapered off.
Joker nodded and sat down at his desk. He knew Frost long enough to know the man's mind was made up. No ounce of torture was going to sway him and bribery didn't work on the guy.
Joker decided to compromise to keep his best employee.
"Fine. Keep it, buttttttttt on one con-dit-ion." J picked up the sonogram and tried his hardest to identify it as a human being. To him it looked like a grey blob but this blob meant so much to his fellow comrade.
"I get to name her." Joker said.
Frost quickly protested but after one look into Joker's demented eyes, he knew he had no say in the matter.
"It'll be my uhh, bargaining chip just in case ya ever try to walk away. Don't you think that's fair Frost-y? I name the kid and she and her.... uh mother don't wind up in a ditch. Deeeeal?"
Frost was making a deal with the devil but he couldn't lose his unborn girl. He'd explain this to his baby mama later, right now he leaned forward and shook hands with his boss.
He just hoped Joker didn't pick some outlandish name.
Tumblr media
"Don't forget your lunch, Gen."
Frost held up the overly decorated lunch bag outside the car window for his daughter to grab. She smiled in thanks and leaned forward to peck Frost on the forehead.
"Thanks Dad!"
He watched her disappear into the school with a rare smile on his lips. It quickly faded away when his phone rang. He had the ringtone memorized and answered it with a heavy sigh.
"Come. Get. Her before I.. I... shuT UP, Y/n!"
Frost heard you in the background shouting at his boss but he couldn't pick up anything you were saying. Regardless, you sounded upset.
The two of you were having another lover's spat and if Frost didn't come and break it up, Joker might do something he'd regret for the rest of his life.
Frost cranked up his truck and held the phone to his ear, "Don't commit any acts of murder, I'm on the way."
Times like this Frost truly believed he had three children instead of one. And just like that his rare day off was gone.
He arrived in the private apartment garage exactly twenty four minutes after he received Joker's call. Frost wasn't allowed up to your floor– no one was anymore– but this was an emergency. Frost would deal with getting yelled at later if it resulted in saving your life.
Hopefully you were still alive to save. Joker might be in denial but he loved you unconditionally. If he hurt you during one of his mood swings— Frost shuddered at the thought.
Frost nodded at his fellow henchman in passing as he called for the elevator to come pick him up. Joker took your safety very seriously and assigned a few of his most loyal men to work at your residence undercover as a first line of defense.
It would take a calculated and deliberate attack for someone to reach your private floor without Joker knowing about it.
Frost was walking off the elevator on your designated floor when the front door flew open.
You emerged dressed to the nines with a purse flung over your shoulder. Joker was hot on your heels until you spun around and told him off.
"Screw you and the plane you flew in on! Call me after you get some act right and not a minute before!!"
Frost interpreted his boss's glare as you boarded the elevator. Joker might be upset with you right now but the warning was clear.
Guard her with your life or I'll kill you.
Frost didn't need to be told to do his job. You gave Joker a purpose in life other than destroying the world. Frost respected you greatly and held you in high regard for that.
Frost would protect Joker's Light to his dying breath. You didn't need to know that though. Frost did have a reputation to uphold.
There was an awkward silence as the elevator door slowly enclosed you inside the lift with Frost. He covertly glanced down at you and met a head full of curls.
Today your voluminous hair was untamed and wild about your shoulders. The only thing styled was your baby hairs swept back in a carefree, but deliberate fashion with gel. A fitting style for your fiery mood. Your overall sense of fashion always fascinated him.
"Wanna talk about it?" Frost asked somewhere around the tenth and ninth floor down.
You sighed while shaking your head. "I'm sorry that he called you. I know today's your day off." You laughed at Frost's curious frown.
"I figured since it's his day off as well. You know I tried to get him to go out and do something legal with me but he just snapped saying, 'he's not normal so why bother? He doesn't do normal. I guess he's having one of those days today."
Both of you knew Joker's mood was unpredictable and his bad days were atrocious to deal with. Half the time you left the clown to his own devices until he was calm enough to tolerate, but today just your presence in the apartment set him off.
Joker needed alone time and you were okay with that. However you wouldn't let him talk to you any kind of way.
The floor numbers ticked lower and lower as you and Frost stood in silence. You glanced up at him lost in thought.
On the outside he was a terrifying guy. Tall, bulky frame with a permanent scowl on his face. His dark eyes and the deep scar that split his eyebrow made him appear unapproachable but you knew Frost had a heart of gold. He cared about Joker and subsequently you when he didn't have to. Frost lived up to his nickname but there was more to the guy. The writer in you could tell.
"Enough about him. I don't wanna ruin the day. Hey? What do you normally get into on your day's off?" You playfully nudged Frost's arm. The man didn't move an inch.
He was quick to reply. "Nothing."
The doors dinged open and he didn't wait up for you, he just started walking towards his truck. You were left behind to marvel at the giant vehicle that Frost expected you to climb into.
You were a short thing; even wearing heels, how did he expect you to...?
"Grab onto the sidebars and hop in. Geez.. if my daughter can do it, you can too." Frost grumbled from the driver's side.
You did as you were told with great difficulty and managed to buckle into your seatbelt. Then you ran back what Frost said.
"Daughter? Oh yeah! I remember you saying I'm stubborn just like her long ago. How is she?"
It was quiet in the cabin. You looked over at Frost finding that he was already staring at you. "What?"
His frown was deeper than normal. "Why are you asking?"
Granted no one in the gang knew about his daughter except you and Joker, it was still a shock to hear someone genuinely ask about her well-being. Frost made triple sure that no one knew about his little family of one.
But you were different. An aura surrounded you— heck it was the reason why Joker named you his Light– that just oozed out of you. You truly cared about people and you weren't going to let this go.
You rolled your eyes as Frost cranked up his truck. "Uh because I want to know how she's doing? That's why I asked. You never did mention how old she is."
Frost gave you a side eye as he drove out of the garage and onto Gotham City streets. He honestly had no idea where to take you. Joker didn't say where to go, just to come get you.
Frost waited until he was at a red light to answer your question as vaguely as possible. "I know I didn't."
You hummed and glanced out the window. It didn't take a scientist to understand that Frost's daughter was not a topic he wished to discuss but you weren't about to spend the rest of the day in absolute silence with him.
Frost was a difficult man to read. He was a man of few words and lived up to his descriptive name. You'd rather take a chance of Joker strangling you to death back at the penthouse than be stuck with his six foot something iceberg all day.
"Can I at least go shopping?" You ignored the low irritated sigh you heard from the driver. "If I had a female companion we could shop together and not bother my annoyed bodyguard on his day off."
The light turned green and you felt the truck shift gears as it moved. "No."
"Oh come on! She's fully aware of what you do so it's perfectly fine if she and I meet! Is she young? Still in school? Ooh, maybe in college? What's her major? You can at least tell me her name. C'mon Frost, give me something to work with!"
You faced him with a pout but then realized he wasn't Joker and that wouldn't work. You had no leverage with Frost. He was just as mysterious as J like two peas in a pod.
So you applied the same logic! Joker hated when you became quiet and closed yourself off.
You crossed your arms and continued looking out the passenger window in silence. It took a couple of city blocks but before long, you could see Frost glancing your way every odd minute or so.
"What're you over there thinking? Hey."
You turned your head so he couldn't see your grin. He couldn't see anything with your natural curls in the way.
Frost growled to himself as he kept driving. It had been no more than fifteen minutes since he picked you up and he was already at his wits end. No wonder Joker couldn't say no to you. You had to possess some kind of powers of coercion. There was no other explanation as to why Frost wanted to keep you happy.
"D__n you woman.." Frost said under his breath. He hoped he wouldn't regret this.
The truck veered roughly to the side as he made an illegal u-turn. Your body collided roughly into the door and you were about to give Frost a mouthful if not for his grumpy frown and death grip on the steering wheel.
You did not want two men angry at you on the same day so you sat back and let Frost drive you to who knows where.
He pulled the truck into a parking spot at a public school forty five minutes later.
You glanced around and arched an eyebrow in intrigue. He turned the truck off and made a show of pocketing the keys. Like you could drive this beast of a truck if you wanted to. You had on vintage platform heels. There was no way you were scuffing them up.
Frost faced you to sound off his rules. "Stay here. Don't get out. Don't talk to anyone. I'll be back." He ordered.
He didn't wait for your response, he just got out and stormed across the school lawn towards the entrance. And just because he was cruel, he mashed the lock button on his key fob, locking you inside.
First period wasn't over when Frost walked through the school's main entrance. Not many students were in the halls— most likely in class, but a few facility members stared at him in passing. It was hard not to.
Frost was used to the stares. He didn't necessarily blend in with the whole school aesthetic. He wasn't a PTA member or a doting father dropping off forgotten lunches.
He was a tall, burly man who screamed of trouble. It would be common sense to be wary or to call the police. His stony aura created a bubble around him and everyone kept a wide berth as he navigated the halls towards the admin office.
There was a woman seated at the front desk but shockingly she wasn't afraid when Frost walked up with a permanent frown carved on his face.
She just looked up and greeted him warmly. "Ah Mr. Myers! Did she forget her lunch this morning? I can take it to her after first period."
Ms. Tammy was always nice and never judged Frost by his appearance but rather by the way he cared for his daughter. Frost was a better father than the white collar dads on the school's chair board. He was alright in her book even if he didn't appear 'father material.'
"No. I want to pull Gen out for the day. Family emergency or whatever." Frost grumbled.
The school only allowed an allotted amount of excuses per school year, but his girl was an A+ student and never missed class. Today would actually be her first offense.
Ms. Tammy nodded and grabbed a form for him to fill out. "I understand. They deserve their days off too. Just sign that dear and I'll go fetch her for you."
Frost nodded and clicked a pen to use. Most of the fields didn't apply to him but it couldn't be left empty. He made up some passable excuse and half hardly signed his fake name on the dotted line. It only took him a minute to complete.
He was forever grateful that his daughter carried her mother's maiden name.
It was the only favor his ex managed to extend before she left without a trace. Legally, Gen wasn't tied to Frost and he preferred it that way should something bad ever happen and his enemies try and find a weakness of his.
In the meantime, he glanced around the admin office to pass the time.
The school wide bulletin board caught his eye. Nothing of importance was posted on the overly bright eyesore, but he did acknowledge the annual Father-Daughter dance that was scheduled in two month's time. He wondered if his daughter would like to attend before she got too old for the age requirement.
Probably not since she didn't want her friends knowing about her criminal dad.
Each year prior she made up an excuse to not go. Studying for a test, being too tired, etc. but Frost knew the truth. She'd be bullied and harassed if it came out he was her father.
Frost wished he could go to school events and be more proactive in her academics. He never missed recitals or science fairs but he was forced to watch from the shadows and not be seen as the supportive father he was.
It was the only drawback of his profession. Frost wasn't allowed to be normal, not even around his own child. Either way, he ripped a flyer off the board and shoved it into his pocket to bring up later.
He was brought out of his musing by Ms. Tammy returning into the office with a student in tow.
Frost's cold facade cracked at the sight of his daughter. She was the only thing in this life that could get a reaction out of him.
"Omg dad what's wrong? Ms.T said there was an emergency!"
Ms. Tammy giggled and returned to her post behind the desk. She noticed the dismissal form and tucked it into an organizer bin for later.
"Have a good day you two!" She waved them goodbye and resumed her work.
Frost said nothing as he nodded at his daughter to walk out the office. She rolled her eyes at her father's lack of response. It wasn't uncommon, he always explained things in private.
He made sure no one was watching as the both of them walked out the school and out to the parking lot. Gen was heading towards the front seat when Frost finally spoke up. "Get in the back." He urged.
"What, why? I always ride shotgun. Ooh! Does this mean I can drive today then?" She grinned in delight.
"No."
Gen pouted but hauled herself up to open the backdoor. One of these days dad was gonna say yes.
She froze the moment she saw someone in the passenger seat and her gasp made you turn around in shock.
You were jamming out to music playing from your phone when they came back. Your coloured eyes clashed with her brown ones. Frost watched the staring contest unfold with a sigh. This was exactly what he wanted to avoid. You were the first to break the rift.
"SHE IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! ARE YOU SURE SHE'S YOURS?" You asked Frost.
He took offense to your question even if the resemblance was non-existent. It wasn't the first time someone questioned if his daughter was his and it wouldn't be the last.
"What the f__k is that supposed to mean?" He argued. You sucked your teeth and eyed the young girl again.
"Well..." You were going to state the obvious until the teenager in the backseat finally got over her shock and spoke up.
".... Dad. Who's this?"
Frost stared at the two females in his truck. It was best to get this over with. He sighed and turned to face the backseat a little better.
"Y/n, this is my daughter Genesis. Gen this is..." Frost stalled and the two of you looked at him, patiently waiting for an explanation.
You knew what Frost wanted to say and shot a nervous glance at his daughter. Genesis looked about seventeen yet wise beyond her years to know the truth. There was an uneasy gleam in her eye and you didn't want her thinking ill of you or her father. So you quickly came to Frost's defense.
He wasn't one to communicate delicate topics like this anyways.
"I'm his Boss's partner. It's nice to meet you!" You smiled at Gen and she breathed a sigh of relief.
"Oh bet. I thought you were f__king my dad. You are way too pretty for him." She turned to fasten her seatbelt and didn't notice her father's reaction. He was catching strays left and right today.
"Again. What the f__k is that supposed to mean?" He asked no one in particular.
"Nothing dad it's just.. I mean. Like you're an attractive guy..."
You noticed her struggling and added in your input. "8 of 10 would smash." You nodded. Frost looked at you in horror. Then you realized what you just confessed. "Oh God. Please don't tell him that."
"Do I look like I want to be murdered with a vegetable peeler?" The truck got awkward real quick as everyone imagined Joker killing someone with such a common kitchen tool. It was doable..
Genesis coughed. "Anyways.. I'm just glad there's nothing going on between the two of you but it doesn't explain why you pulled me from school today."
You raised your manicured hand. "Guilty! I wanted a shopping partner for the day!"
The truck was silent for a long stretch of time before Genesis turned to her dad with a serious expression. "Dad, is she like his bimbo or... what?"
Frost huffed and it was the closest thing to a laugh you ever heard from him. You were sitting next to a stranger right now. Frost never smiled. Ever. Much less laughed at something that was said.
You were seeing him with brand new eyes. It was refreshing to know his frosty exterior could melt to a normal human being underneath.
The comment was a bit funny since Frost thought the same thing about you the first time Joker invited him to your apartment.
Surrounded by luxury and on the top floor no less, Frost thought that you were just a run of the mill bimbo that Joker was taking advantage of. He'd seen you from your tv appearances. You were just a waft of a girl, always dressed up in pretty things– batting your long lashes and drawing silly hearts next to your signatures.
If Frost went by appearances only he would have labeled you a bimbo and kept it moving.
Frost was ready to kill you off the second Joker snapped his fingers but then you showed your true colors and captured everyone under your spell.
Whether he admitted it or not, Joker fell in love with you and Frost hadn't seen his old companion this happy in decades. You unlocked something good within Joker and as a result, you earned respect in Frost's book.
He'd do anything to keep you safe and happy so you could continue to shine a light on Joker.
You were a perfect match for the Clown Prince of Crime even if you acted like an airhead sometimes. It was a part of your character; however, you were educated behind your designer threads and jewels.
Frost had to give you some credit.
"No. Y/n is actually a Gotham City's best selling author. She wrote that novel you like. The one with the archer I think." He cranked up the truck.
They wasted too much time chatting. It was time to go. Gen's jaw dropped and she leaned over the console to stare at you more closely. How could she be so dense not to notice you?!
"Wait? You're that Y/n?! Omg, WHB was such a page tuner! And like Hunter is so hawt! Like, chase me in the woods anytime papi, hot! Ugh and that cabin scene when he—" She glanced at her father distracted by driving before stage-whispering to you.
"The smut was immaculate." She giggled into your ear.
You burst out laughing and had to cover your mouth when Frost sent you an annoyed glare.
He drowned out the sound of you two gossiping to focus on the road. He only interrupted the 'juicy' book discussion to ask what store you wanted to go to first.
He already knew your favorites from previous trips and from his time on security detail, yet you surprised him by picking one of Genesis' favorites.
Frost glanced through the rearview mirror at Gen. She was none the wiser given that she was too busy smiling and getting along with you. It was as if the two of you were lifelong friends catching up on old times.
Frost assumed you two would click since the age difference was less than ten years.
He just was happy that his girl had someone to talk to, at least for the day. Genesis didn't bring home any friends (for obvious reasons) nor did she talk about any. If she didn't excel in her academics, Frost would've been concerned. It was only natural for a father to be worried about their daughter's social growth. He didn't want his occupation to stunt Genesis' upbringing.
Frost was turning into a parking space in the mall's parking lot when he heard your probing question.
"Genesis, is there any special occasion coming up you wanna shop for?" Your kind smile was gentle and patient, knowing the teenager was hesitant to answer. You were her age before, you knew why.
"Well um..."
"Come on, 'Sis, don't be shy! It's just you and me and the grumpy chaperone pretending not to listen." You turned to glare at Frost. "Can you not?"
He narrowed his brown eyes and tried not to bare his teeth at you. He knew that tone. You wanted him out of the picture.
Like that was happening. He honestly didn't like having you out at such a public place. This was gonna make his job all the more harder trying to protect you and his little girl but it wouldn't be impossible.
He thought you would know the rules by now, "Boss's orders. You don't leave my sight."
"Frost, we will be fine. If I feel like I'm in danger, I'll scream. Go.. I dunno, check out some knives or whatever men do at malls." You snickered and Genesis joined in from the backseat.
She didn't understand why you needed security but that due to her being in the dark regarding Joker's gang. She knew her dad was a criminal, the worst of the worst, but he was still her father in her eyes. The level of danger you could be in went right over her head.
Knowing that her dad was technically on the clock right now was a hard concept to grasp. She glanced at him, noticing his guarded glare and sharp eyes already scanning the area as everyone got out the truck.
It was cool to see him in his element of sorts.
Although she felt wholly underdressed in her jeans, graphic tee, and chucks standing next to you.
You looked like a dark skinned doll wearing a light colored pleated skirt that fluttered in the wind. Your ensemble was preppy chic teetering on Lolita and it didn't help that your hair tumbled down your back just like a doll. She admired your soft aesthetic with your winged collar, lace bow ties, and pearl accessories.
Everything just worked perfectly to create an adorable outfit.
You adjusted your cardigan better and checked your lip gloss in the truck's back window. Your naĂŻve humming floated in the air.
Both Frost and Gen looked on in a mixture of intrigue and exasperation.
"You look fine. Let's go." Frost grumbled.
He averted his eyes from your adorable pout. He was not Joker, he would not crack under your charm. Frost did crack a smile when you and Genesis walked into the mall linking arms like two high schoolers.
With your dumb outfit and short stature, at least you looked the part.
Tumblr media
He didn't let the two of you out of his sight but he took your disapproving glare as a sign to back off some. People were beginning to stare at the scary looking guy following two girls around.
Frost became a shadow as you and Genesis filtered around the mall, ooh and ahhing at every little thing that caught your eye. He lost count how much of Joker's money you blew through. Quite frankly Frost didn't care. His job was to hold the bags that the two of you couldn't carry and keep you safe.
Frost wasn't too upset about his current degrading role.
Genesis' happiness was his only concern and today he got to see a rare smile brighten her face. She was laughing and having fun like someone her age should. She needed female bonding time and you were definitely making up for years of neglect.
He lost sight of the two of you during his musing and quickly went into a calm but panic induced mode.
You watched Frost rush the opposite way of where you and Genesis were currently hiding.
"Um. I don't think this is a good idea.. Dad said to stay in his line of sight." Genesis' brown eyes shifted down to the potted plant she hid behind. You waited until Frost was long gone before standing up and brushing off your pleated skirt.
"It'll be fine 'Sis! I remember when I was your age. Sneaking off at the mall to shop at specific stores was virtually impossible with my parents around. Now! Are you going to that Father-Daughter dance your school is having?"
Gen quickly grew defensive, "How did you know about that?" She hadn't mentioned it in conversation but you waved off her concern.
"Your dad sucks at hiding things. I saw the flyer when he got in the truck. It's formal attire so you need a jaw dropping dress that he totally won't approve of but will make all the girls in your class jealous! I know just the store too."
Your e/c gleamed under the mall's bright lights. It had been a while since you got to dress someone up. Gen's hesitant hum though made you pause.
"Well actually I don't wanna make her jealous. M-More like I wanna impress her, like really impress her.." Genesis winced at your stupefied look. She honestly didn't expect you to understand.
It took you a few seconds to process her statement.
"Oh." You said. "Okay, that changes things. You need something eye catching, I gotcha! Same store so let's–"
You were about to walk off when Genesis grabbed your arm, stopping you in your tracks. She was still rather bashful yet somewhat hopeful when she met your eye.
"Woah wait a min, Y/n! Don't think that's like... weird? I just said I wanted to impress a girl? Not a guy." Her hand fell from your arm as she picked at her nails. It was a nervous habit she was trying to grow out of.
One you filed away for later. Your heels clicked sharply on the mall's linoleum floor and your mess of curls fell off your shoulder when you tilted your head in confusion.
"And? Genesis. I'm dating a psychopath who frequently dresses up in a nurse outfit, wig and all. I'm in no position to judge your preference for a partner." You laughed but quickly frowned when Gen groaned in frustration.
"No no no! That's the thing!! I read your trilogy and I'm attracted to Hunter. Strong, dominant, alpha guys are hot but I also like how Jordan makes me feel. She's... ugh. You remind me a lot of her. Bubbly, confident, always wearing pretty outfits like she's going to GC fashion week and not English 1 at eight o'clock in the morning. She's so pretty and I probably don't stand a chance but I wanna try!"
You eyed Genesis differently as she stood before you coming out yet still unsure of herself. Your lips parted to speak but she cut you off, going on another nervous rant.
"I'm just so afraid and not about asking her out but of what my dad will say! Like, I'm his perfect girl! I get perfect grades, I don't get into trouble, and I'm home before the street lights come on! I already have pending scholarships! Y/n, what if he doesn't approve?" Gen switched to picking at her lips.
Your heart went out to her but you still didn't see the problem. You playful scoffed and replied.
"Again, Genesis. Your dad works for that same psychopath who dresses up as a nurse. Frost has seen plenty of things in his line of business. I don't think he'll judge you. And guess what? It's your choice so if he shockingly disapproves, then tell him to shove it and move in with me. Now.. I think... blue is your color. I feel a rich indigo would bring out your melanin and I'm here for it. That is, if you want to wear a dress? I honestly don't wanna assume again."
You sent Genesis a sympathetic smile but jumped when she tackled you in a hug.
You almost lost your balance since the girl was taller than you even in heels. Just what were they feeding kids these days..
She sang out a string of thank yous and rocked you in her arms. You patted her on the back and wheezed out a 'can't breathe.'
"Sorry." Gen let you go. She watched your lashes flutter as you caught your breath. "Yeah, umm. I haven't worn a dress in ages. C-Can you help me find one?"
She regretted asking the moment she saw your eyes light up like fireworks. Shopping with you was both fun and exhausting.
Tumblr media
The scolding the both of you received once Frost found you exiting a high end lingerie store was epic. Frost literally had steam coming out his ear, he was so furious.
"I thought since you're an adult you would have some common sense Y/n! I told you not to leave my sight and the two of you wandered off for two hours! F__k you're a terrible influence. If something had happened, not only would he kill me, he'd kill Gen for being involved. Is that what you want? Murder all around?"
Genesis felt awful but wisely hid her racy purchases behind her back until her dad was in a better mood.
She hated when he was angry but she had no dog in this fight. She told you it was a bad idea to shake off dad's surveillance.
You on the other hand were used to being yelled at. Joker gave you plenty of practice.
You simply rolled your eyes. "Frost stop overreacting. Nothing happened so don't dwell on the past. We got far more shopping done with you not slowing us down. Anyhoo we're done here and.." You glanced down at your phone vibrating in your purse.
It was a string of text messages from J beginning with an apology along with questionable promises on how he could make up for his mistakes.
You did not want him killing a prominent political member in your name. You did consider his offer on buying you a pig. They were cute!
"I'm needed back home. Can you drop me off?" You asked Frost. His right eye was twitching.
You gave him headaches. He strangled the air in front of you, "I don't get paid enough for this." He growled.
You waved goodbye to Genesis as you walked into your apartment building an hour later. Two workers followed behind you carrying your many shopping bags.
Gen crawled into the front seat as Frost shifted gears to leave. It was a long day and he just wanted to go home and relax after babysitting you.
"H-Hey dad. Can I ask you something?" Gen asked. His soft hum was the only acknowledgment she would receive.
"Do you know that Father-Daughter dance at school– the one we never go to each year? Well, I've been thinking.. I kinda wanna go this year."
She snuck a glance over the console but Frost was still focused on traffic. He didn't show any signs of listening but still, she continued.
"I know its kinda last minute being its like in two months away and your... boss? Master? He who shall not be named? Whatever you call him, he doesn't like last minute requests but I wanna go. Can we?"
Frost sighed as the truck idled at a red light.
It was then he glanced over at his little girl. He was so lucky to have her. Genesis didn't look anything like him and he was forever grateful. He didn't want to curse her with his shortcomings because her beauty was so refined.
Genesis was all aristocratic lines and sharp features, perfectly balanced by her mother's warm complexion and hooded eyes. Gen had the face of ancient statues with deep rooted secrets evident in her full upturned lips and mirth forever shining in her dark brown eyes.
Frost often thought back to the day Joker named his daughter. The psychotic clown snuck into the labor and delivery floor to claim his end of the deal.
Frost stalled as long as he could when the nurses asked what to name his child and they found it odd that the mother didn't offer any input. The birth certificate was left blank until the middle of the night for J to come fill.
His green eyes were unreadable as he glared at the bouncy baby girl wide awake, waiting for him.
Frost was beyond terrified when Joker picked up his unnamed girl but shockingly the clown held her right and entered a staring contest with the infant.
Not once did she cry and much to Frost's horror, she smirked at Joker as if she knew something he didn't.
"Genesis." J mumbled.
"What?" Frost probably heard that wrong. Was that the name Joker had picked?!
Frost was expecting something stupid like initials that spelled out TNT or a play on words like, Dianamite. Joker was full of surprises after all. One couldn't be too sure.
Joker purred as he tickled Gen's cheek with his makeup stained hands. She cooed back and tried wiggling out her swaddle wrap to interact with this strange looking man.
"She's the ahh, beginning, to something greaT, Frosty. It's up ta her to figure out what."
And so Genesis was named.
Times like this Frost could see why Joker picked it. She was confident in her decision as if she already foreseen the outcome. Once she arrived at the dance with her father, it would open up a can of worms and questions, but she was ready to tackle them head on.
He couldn't be more proud.
Frost nodded sagely. "Hm, Good thing I bought a tux already. Y/n said to make sure it coordinated with something blue."
Genesis blinked before bursting out laughing. Of course you planned this.
She wouldn't expect anything else from a remarkable woman like you. You unknowingly brought her closer to her father in just one day. And tomorrow Gen would have the strength to come out to him.
"Yeah. Blue is perfect, dad."

Second Chances
Leon Dompteur x gn! Reader
Tumblr media
No tags. A little drabble for @leonscape ♄
“No.”
“WHAT?!” Yves screeches and spills piping hot tea all over his pants.
Even Licht’s usually calm demeanor cracks, his cookie missing his mouth entirely as it slips through his fingers and tumbles to the floor.
“Yeah, they said no.”
Tumblr media
“What the hell did you do?” Jin asks, shuffling his knees out of Yves way so the poor creature can escape the sofa to find a towel.
“I have no idea! That's the thing!”
“I thought you two were
 you know, a done deal
” Licht mumbles, rubies flitting across the floor for the cookie.
“Uh
yeah. That's what I thought too. I mean, we've been dating forever. I never got the impression they didn't want to get married.”
“I got the impression they were pretty excited about your upcoming anniversary last we spoke,” Yves replies, yanking a cloth from between a pile of books and papers that scatter across the floor.
“Exactly! I wouldn't have asked if I thought there would be any hesitation. I don't want to put any pressure on them. I really thought
 I dunno
 the answer would be yes
 Was I expecting too much?”
The soft sound of cotton rubbing across silk and the crumble of a cookie under a boot fills the long silence.
It ends with a loud crunch as Jin cracks his lolly and counters, “You must've done something wrong. There's no way us three could get an enthusiastic yes from each of our lovers but the king couldn't.”
“Remind me, how did you propose again?”
“In bed during post sex cuddles. How else? Good feels, skin contact, afterglow, emotional intimacy — it's a guaranteed yes
What are you all looking at me like that for?!!”
“Right. Yves, what did you do?”
“Baked all their favourite desserts, revelled in our shared collection of precious memories, told them all the ways they make me a better person and how I could never live without them, showered them in affection and praise. I tried to just be true to ourselves. What did you do?”
“We had a lovely, romantic tea party. There was a bit of a kerfuffle I sorted out, but after everything calmed down I took them out to the balcony to look over the cityscape and I proposed there.”
Jin narrows his eyes and cocks his head. “You had
 a tea party?”
“Yeah, we love having tea together. It's one of my favourite ways to relax together.”
“Was it a fancy tea party? Did you bake all the treats yourself and hand craft them with love and affection?”
“Yves, that's you not me.”
“That's almost as bad as the guy who got his girlfriend a manicure, lied that it was a gift so the woman wouldn't be upset about the cost, used a friend to pass on the gift certificate instead of doing it personally — all hoping she'd come home and be in a good mood — then lit some candles and just popped the question.”
“What's wrong with that?”
“She was super busy and stressed that day with deadlines. He wasn't honest about the price so she just got the most basic manicure ever. Then, he didn't even cook dinner or do anything that says he's thoughtful or reliable. He just dropped the question at home with some candles like the answer was guaranteed!”
“I don't get it, Yves. That sounds decent to me
”
“If he was going to spend that much, he could at least have bought her something she would actually enjoy like yarn for knitting or a couples massage or go on a getaway! It's like he doesn't know her at all!!”
“That was almost me
” Licht mumbles from the corner.
“I didn't mean for you to take my advice literally and follow every step! I meant it as inspiration!! If you're lover doesn't like manicures, you should know that! Not me!!” Yves squeaks in protest.
“What did you do instead?”
“He took them horseback riding out to the meadow. I made the picnic basket because, obviously, Licht in the kitchen is almost as bad as Clavis. He set the ring in a pretty little holder and tucked that into the dessert. You didn't actually ask, did you?”
“No,” Licht answers quietly, cheeks stained red and shoulders rounded shyly. “Didn't have to
 They understood
That's why we got married after all
”
“I still don't see how my proposal is that bad
You know all how much that view of the city means to me. They do too.”
Unwrapping another lollipop Jin queries, “Yeah, but did you talk about that with them or just use it as a backdrop?”
“Oh
 hmmm
”
“Did you set the mood by saying how much you cherish the little moments together, like having tea and such?” Yves asks and retakes his seat in the centre of the sofa.
“You're much more verbal than I am. You at least asked them directly, right?”
“Okay, okay. I fucked everything up! I didn't think about what would make them feel loved as much as what would put me at ease to ask such a nerve-wracking question! I've been so stressed since becoming king that we spend less time together, and I just wanted to relax together like before
”
“I think if you told them that, walked them through how much you need them as your pillar of strength, told them all the ways you need them by your side as you bear this new role, hold them close and explain what they really mean to you, they'd say yes. Seriously! Why are y'all looking at me like that!!”
“Jin has a point. Even if you want to keep the event itself low-key, you have to make sure you're not so exhausted that you can't express the emotions the proposal depends on. I'm sure this isn't about them not loving you. Quite the opposite. They just want to share that vulnerability and take a moment to appreciate the constant that is your love for one another.”
Through a mouthful of cookie Licht concurs with his two older brothers, “Mhm.”
“Do you think if I tried again they would say yes?”
“If you make sure you have the emotional capacity to express yourself fully this time, then yes,” Yves answers and pours himself more tea.
“I suggest being a bit more romantic this time though. At least have a candlelit dinner on the balcony if you're adamant about proposing there. I still think bedtime snuggles— What did I say now?!”
“Thanks guys. I'll think about it. I'm sure there's something I can do that will really feel like us.”

another thing is that like. s1 wasn't the most brilliant thing in the whole universe but it did have a slowly progressing community plot. in the first episode, the crew's plotting to kill stede off, in episode 3 jim says he's the worst captain ever, but by episode 9 they've all grown to like him at least a bit, and so they confirm that he absolutely is a real pirate, eligible to use the act of grace, and they even do the talk it through as a crew thing. very cute!
and then s2 just... kindasorta... does... nothing... with that? sure, the crews get separated, they earned some trauma, but it's a comedy series and surely they can get over it and be one crew together again, right? look, half of the crew stays with stede even though they could have just left him -- he has nothing to offer them, after all -- the other half misses the life on the old revenge, then everyone's working with stede to take the revenge back, they're coming back home! they unionize (lol) against stede in ep4 to banish ed because he makes them feel unsafe, then in ep5 to make stede get rid of that awful cursed suit! in ep6, they have a big fun party!
eeeeexcept the swede just leaves without a second thought, and after he's gone no one misses him. buttons gets roach going "did he really turn into a bird or did you kill him", but that's it, no one misses him either and no one really notices they've lost two crew members in a couple of days. when a character is absent because their actor is absent, no one really goes "hey, where's X?", no one really notices that, so we have not one but two annoying examples of "wow, i was doing X and i missed all this stuff!" (lucius+pete and fang). olu, jim and archie are totally up for leaving stede's crew to join zheng yi sao for... no reason whatsoever. i've seen meta that it's because they don't feel comfortable on the ship or don't trust ed anymore, or have enough of stede's 15 minutes of fame, but like, is it text that this is the reason why they're leaving, or just something you as a fan figured out because you actively tried to find an explanation? sure, the crew wasn't a big fan of ed's apology, but did anyone protest very much, aside from lucius? not really. no one tried to get him to leave, no one avoided him during the party, the animosity, if it was there, just wasn't shown.
and now, in episode 8, well. everyone knows what happened in episode 8.
i'm kinda laughing bitterly here, because i made a post about how what izzy's done to the crew wasn't that much worse than what the crew do to each other, and does it mean they're not a good crew and don't care about each other?, no!, it means we're in a workplace comedy and everyone's a bit of an asshole! except. except i was kind of right, because the crew just goes and falls apart and it's barely noticeable, like they weren't a crew in the first place. it's not even sad, it doesn't have a reason, they just scatter around -- whether it's an actor wanting out, or scheduling conflicts, or money issues, i don't know, or the writers needing something that would piss stede off enough to challenge zheng yi sao to a stupid duel. the reviews and reactions to ep 6 were all wow, so moving, so euphoric, a love letter to the queer community, and it's like, a what to what. where. i don't see anything.
i've no idea, maybe djenks really looked at this episode and thought oh yeah, this is a good save point before s3, if we get renewed we can work from here, if we don't it's still a nice ending, but it's literally not in both cases. if it's an ending, it sucks. if it's a middle point, i don't actually want a s3 because the community is not a thing, my favourite little guy was killed off in the stupidest way possible, and the mains got the ending that i thought would never happen since s1, because it's too easy, too utopian, and besides it was obvious that the inn thing was only ed's escapist fantasy and he needs to find himself and what he really wants just like stede. ha. haha. ha.
i don't really care about this show anymore in the form it is now is the thing.

Update on this post, again it’s a personal life thing, I’ll be back to over-analysis of comedy bits from 15 years ago soon.
Well, I did it. It was quite a lot happening. I was almost surprised at how quickly it felt normal. The places and the objects were as I remember, like no time had passed. Some of the people looked so similar that it was a shock to see them for about twenty seconds and then the only weird thing was how not weird it was. That my brain remembered it had a set of expectations to apply to scenarios like this one, took a short amount of time to dig that up, but once it did it all made sense.
The last couple of years have been the first time since I was fourteen years old that I’ve stopped doing this for a substantial amount of time, enough time to break my immersion and see it from an outsider’s perspective. It’s made me stop and ask myself why I dedicated my whole life to it before, why I spent all that time banging my head against a brick wall of awful things when there are spaces in the world that aren’t like that. It didn’t occur to me until I took a step back that I don’t have to do that.
I had a bit of those outsider’s eyes yesterday, remembering that not everywhere is like that. I saw at least three people who, less than a year ago, drove up to my city along with all the truckers to take it over and try to metaphorically, and in a couple of small cases possibly literally, burn it to the ground. One of those is a person who complained, about five years ago, when my city got to host one of the four championship tournaments we do every year. Those cities are always in her area, the population-dense cluster of cities and towns that’s 5-6 hours away from me, we drive down there almost every weekend in most years, and just once, the rest of them had to come up my way for one day. She complained at time that it wasn’t fair to expect people to travel so far, even though we do it all the fucking time. Five years later, she didn’t mind the distance so much when she made the trip to stand almost directly outside my window, according to her Facebook live videos, shouting about her right to murder everyone’s grandparents and generally live her life without any thought about her responsibility to others.
The weeks of having my city taken over by the trucker protests were awful, and I said at the time that knowing from Facebook that a few coaches I know from other teams had joined them would make it fucking weird when I started this sport again. I posted this picture at the time (on here, not on Facebook, I haven’t posted anything on Facebook in years and intend to keep it that way), saying that once you come up to my actual home and try to fuck it up, I no longer want to play fun games with you to see whether my kids can beat up your kids under agreed upon regulations:
Tumblr media
I was right to think it would feel that way. At one point I was coaching against a guy who’d made social media videos of himself honking horns and shouting across the street from my house, and I thought, “I don’t like that I have to pretend it’s all fun and games with aforementioned lizard.” I might start referring to that guy as “Aforementioned Lizard”, actually, that sounds like a good new running joke to take up that’ll slightly sublimate a bit of my anger.
There was someone else, a guy I didn’t know, with a shirt that said “We the Fringe” on the back, and when I saw that I thought, “Oh that’s interesting, you don’t normally see people at these things who are interested in something like a fringe festival. I wonder what city’s fringe they went to to get that.” So I watched until he turned around, and when he did, I learned it was a shirt advertising the far-right federal party. The one that’s taken to calling themselves “fringe” as a way to reclaim that, because they were offended that they’ve been referred to as a fringe right-wing movement. If you think about where the global Overton window is right now, it’s pretty fucked up that some people are supporting a party so far right that anyone can call it “fringe”.
So that gave me a moment of thinking, “Fucking hell, why have I dedicated my life to this thing that’s so full of terrible people? I wouldn’t have this problem if I’d just gone into pottery or some shit.” But then, one of my athletes who was at his first ever competition, only fifteen years old, and has some neurodivergency stuff that means he tends to be a bit out of it and a bit hard to read, I couldn’t tell if he was all that emotionally invested because when he lost his first two matches he didn’t seem that bothered and he didn’t engage all that much in general, but then he won his third match, got up after the final buzzer and turned around and I saw the biggest grin on his face, he ran back to the corner and threw himself at me for a hug, and I thought, “Ah yes, that’s why.” I just don’t think pottery can provide those kinds of highs at a comparable rate.
Also, the bad apples were only a few people. There’s one guy, an assistant coach from a team down South whom I’ve always quite liked, not because I knew anything about his beliefs but just because he seemed nice. Yesterday, he was walking around in a shirt that said I Stand With Ukraine, and he was the only person in the entire building wearing a mask (including me, I’m sorry to say, because I do not have the social confidence to be one of only two people at a big event wearing a mask, and because I knew going to this big indoor thing with lots of physical contact that the tradeoff was accepting a big risk, but that second reason is a bullshit copout since the presence of risk does not negate the benefit of risk mitigation, so it’s really just about the first reason, and if I die due to my lack of social confidence I’ll deserve it). I fucking love it when I take a chance on not hating someone, and I turn out to be right.
I am friendly with a few those people, a few that I chatted with a bit when I saw them. The only one I’d call a good friend, whom I was very much looking forward to seeing, picked this as pretty much the one event in years that he chose to skip. So that reunion will wait until next time. But I was surprised at how many others seemed pleased to see me.
When I put on my coaching jacket for the first time since the high school championships in early March 2020, and zipped it up, I felt like Ralph Macchio at the end of season 1 of Cobra Kai, when he dramatically put on the gi and headband thing that he wore in the Cobra Kai movies, declaring that he was officially taking up the mantle again.
So that’s my update. I can’t think of a less cliche way to say this than yesterday I felt more alive than I have in nearly three years. Truly alive, to quote noted plastic cow destroyer and chocolate milkshake drinker David O’Doherty. We’ll see how long this lasts, I guess, if the world shuts down again or if I get punished for the risk taking with another case of COVID, or if I have another psychological breakdown and can’t keep doing it. But for the moment, I feel like life as I knew and loved it is possible again, even if I have to share it with some aforementioned lizards.

enhypen pranking you
requested; yes!
warnings; some cursing??
note; help i feel like this took forever to write 😭 and i literally have no excuses other than procrastination and the fact that i couldn’t think of pranks for like half the boys. hopefully my next post won’t take as long...
unedited so apologies for any mistakes/typos!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
희ìŠč | heeseung;
okay i feel like heeseung would be the guy to go on reddit and be like “how can i prank my s/o without making them cry or get angry”
will absolutely research until he finds the perfect prank
he decides on the one where you wipe off your s/o’s kisses bc like
that’s a relatively harmless prank right??
if only he knew
so later that day when you two meet up you give him a kiss on the cheek like always
and he just . wipes it off
you can tell he’s kinda trying to be discreet about it
and at first you’re kinda confused by it
but then figured maybe you accidentally put too much chapstick on and left some on his cheek
bc you know. that can happen
but then throughout the day he just?? keeps wiping them off???
eventually you can’t take it anymore
“alright lee heeseung what the fuck is your problem”
immediately he knows he’s screwed up
like you used his government name and everything
“i might’ve been.....idk.....pranking you. or something.”
“😐😐😐”
never tries anything like that again
who knew you could be so scary?
제읎 | jay;
okay it took me like 8 years to think of a prank jay would do
but i feel like he might try the “pretending to talk bad about my s/o in another language” thing
like one day when you and him were just having a casual little date
he gets a ‘phone call’
and he’s just like “hey babe do u mind if i take this? sunghoon said he needed to talk about smth”
“ofc baby go ahead đŸ€—â€
and so it begins
the first time you didn’t even realize he said your name
so the next time he like . overemphasized it
and yeah it got your attention it also made you suspicious as hell
his first mistake
you looked at him questioningly thinking that maaaaybe you were being dramatic and he was just trying to get ur attention
but he just ignored you and kept talking
and you kept hearing your name Very clearly
and you can see jay discreetly glancing at you to see your reaction
which just confirms that it’s a prank
and you’re pretty sure you know which one he was trying to do
so after like ten minutes with absolute no reaction from you
jay finally hangs up
and you’re just like “did u have fun pretending to trash-talk about me to sunghoon?”
he just freezes for a second
bc damn he did not expect you to figure it out that quick
but then he just wraps his arm around ur shoulders and grins
“typical y/n. sucking the fun out of everything.”
you’re about to protest
but then he gives you a very sweet kiss
so all is forgiven ❀
for now
ì œìŽíŹ | jake;
i’m sure we’ve all seen those videos of someone calling their significant other by their name instead of a pet-name or smth
so naturally jake decided to try it on you
bc. ya know.
he only ever calls you cutsey nicknames and shit
his friends like to tease him abt forgetting your name because like. literally he never calls you by it.
but it’s okay because you never call him by his either
bUT anyways
one day when you two were just chilling at your place watching movies and stuff
and you were in the kitchen making some popcorn
so he just goes for it
“hey Y/N can you bring me some water?”
he has to stop himself from losing it at the way you just freeze
“i didn’t know we were back on that level, JAEYUN.”
oh shit
is literally the 😩 emoji
was not expecting the uno reverse card
makes up for it as soon as you sit back down
kisses all over your face and calls you the most ridiculous names.
“i’m sorry my lovely sugarbear, sweetie-pie, pumpkin, baby boo.”
he’s just lucky you didn’t bring him a glass of ice and tell him to wait <3
성훈 | sunghoon;
recently, you got a box from ur mom that was full of all your favorite snacks that you couldn’t get in korea
and you were like . so excited
which is why sunghoon, your lovely but slightly evil boyfriend
decided to play a prank on you
you had been gushing to him about how excited you were to have some of them when you got home from work/classes
and so he decided to hide them
later when you went to get them you almost had a heart attack when you couldn’t find them
“hey babe have seen those snacks my mom sent?”
“oh you mean those odd looking ones? yeah the guys came over earlier and we kinda finished them off. sorry hon.”
now
sunghoon was absolutely ready for you to get mad
he was prepared for shouting and maybe even having a pillow thrown his way
what he was not prepared for was your face falling and tears to start welling up in your eyes
“o-oh. okay.”
“wait y/n-“
but you had already started crying
which might seem like an overreaction but like
you’d had a really shitty day
and looking forward to those snacks and cuddling with your boyfriend was the only thing keeping you going
and you just couldn’t help it :(
“y/n, baby i’m sorry please stop crying.”
runs as fast as he can to where he hid them and brings them back to you
“look, see? i was just pranking you.”
promises that he won’t ever do something like that again
bc he hates seeing you cry :/
선우 | sunoo;
it took me so long to think of a prank sunoo would do 😭
but after some careful consideration
i think he would do smth like give you really salty cookies just to see how you react
like are you gonna tell him they’re awful in a nice way or will you just tell him straight up that they taste like crap??
is so obvious about it tho
“hey y/n wanna try these cookies i made with love just for you~?”
watches your reaction very closely when you take the first bite
he can tell that you’re trying so hard not to make a face
“wow, babe. these are uh, really good. thank you so much!”
wait what
are you.....trying to spare his feelings???
“are you sure? they’re not too salty or anything?”
“nope! i love them!”
did you just take another bite???
this time you can’t hide the grimace quite as well tho 😭
at his blank look you try to take another bite
but he stops you before you can poison yourself anymore
“babe you weren’t supposed to pretend to like them i know they’re awful đŸ€Šâ€â™‚ïžâ€
is very touched that you would eat a cookie that is like half salt just for him <3
정원 | jungwon;
okay don’t @ me but i feel like jungwon would just like . try to ignore you
like he saw someone on youtube doing it and their s/o was being super affectionate and cute trying to get their attention
and he’s just like.....😏 hmm.....
so he tries it out the next time you come over to his place
and you’re just . so confused??
bc aside from him opening the door to let you in
your usually sweet and cuddly boyfriend is acting like you’re not even here??
you start trying to get his attention with snuggles and cheek kisses and bringing him something to eat/drink
but the boy won’t budge
and now you’re paranoid
did you do something wrong??
is he really upset????
finally you can’t take it
and you come up to him a little watery eyed
“i don’t know what i did, but i’m sorry. i’ll try not to do it again.”
literally breaks his heart in two 💔
immediately apologizes and tells you that it’s a prank
and then cuddles you the rest of the night without letting go <3
니킀 | niki;
one day while watching random youtube videos
niki got the stupid brilliant idea to pretend that he was gonna break up with you
of course he had to wait for the right timing and whatnot
and that seemed to be just a few days later
the two of you planned to play video games and watch some movies
and that seemed like the perfect time to do it
so a few minutes after he got to your place
and you two had just sat down on the sofa
he turned to you all serious and said
“y/n. i hate to do it like this, but i can’t keep it in any longer. i think we should break up.”
“oh thank God.”
wait what
why did you sound.....relieved???
“wh-what?
“yeah i was actually planning on breaking up with you, but you beat me to it! nice one, bro.”
niki frowns
“y/n this isn’t funny.”
“oh but it would’ve been funny if you did it to me?”
yeah turns out jake found out about his little prank and tipped you off
omg but once niki realizes that you’re not actually dumping him he just kinda.....crushes you into a hug
“i’m so sorry you’re right it isn’t funny please don’t leave me.”
the rest of the day is spent much more calmly after you two vow to only play harmless pranks on each other.

Crushing - Spencer Reid x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
“Reid, stop giving JJ’s intern bedroom eyes. It fuckin’ weirds me out.”
A/N: I love baby genius, season one Reid so much. I wanted to give him a soulmate. Soulmate is you: shy and also a baby genius. Okay, thanks for reading. This was honestly just for me.
CW: Implied Smut, Mild Cursing, shitty writing
“Who...Who is that?” Dr. Spencer Reid, debatably the wordiest boy Derek Morgan had ever met, was suddenly at a loss for words. Maybe it was your perfectly sculpted face, your shoes, the copy of The Kreutzer Sonata held to your chest, your chest, or maybe a mix of it all.  Whatever it was, at sight of you walking through the office doors, he was stripped of his ability to speak.
“That’s JJ’s new intern.” Morgan said plainly, before noticing the completely enamored look on his friend’s face. “What, pretty boy?” Reid couldn’t even be bothered to reply. He was too busy studying every detail of your frame.
“You think she’s cute or something kid?” Morgan playfully jabbed his shoulder, Spencer’s face instantly flushing an embarrassing shade of red.
“What?!” He shrieked, “I-no! That’s not..No!” That’s a lie.
“I just..I didn’t know JJ was getting an intern.” That though, was true.
“She’s supposed to be pretty impressive. Let’s go meet her.” he started in the direction of the coffee stand, where you and JJ had begun chatting. Before Spencer could protest out of his shyness, he was being dragged along.
“Morgan,” JJ smiled, “Spence,” she nodded in his direction, “This is Y/N Y/L/N. My godsent savior.” JJ beamed in your direction.
You smiled more sheepishly then you would’ve liked, muttering a “Hopefully.” that got a laugh from Morgan and a “Oh, please.” from JJ, but nothing from the man in the glasses. You did your best not to read into it.
“Derek Morgan.” the muscular agent extended his hand to shake yours, an offer you timidly but happily accepted.
The taller, lankier, younger, incredibly cute man next to him stuffed one of his hands in his pocket and shifted uncomfortably with a small wave, “I’m uh, Doctor Spencer Reid, oh! Uh, you don’t have to, uh call me Doctor. No..” He shook his head, “Just Spencer is fine.” He looked at you with wide eyes that sent butterflies berserk in your stomach and swiped his tongue in between his lips that only made them go crazier. JJ had told you all about the team. About the magnificently brilliant Dr. Spencer Reid, his 3 PhDs and eidetic memory, and all the other quirks you’d have to know in order to work with him, but had failed to mention how utterly hot he was. You felt a crush hijacking your system already. Dear god.
“It’s nice to meet you both.” Your hands gripped your book tighter as you shifted onto your tiptoes, “I’ve heard really exceptional things.”
The conversation was set to continue, but Morgan and JJ were summoned by Hotch to the closed doors of his office. Leaving the resident genius and you starting at each other with tight lip smiles.
Spencer started first, “The Kreutzer Sonata is great.” He excitedly continued, “It uh, it actually used to be a pretty bold book to carry around. After the work had been forbidden in Russia by censors, there was actually a mimeographed version that was widely circulated. Then in 1890, the United States Post Office Department prohibited the mailing of newspapers containing serialized installments of it too. Theodore Roosevelt even called Tolstoy a-”
His enthusiasm was beyond endearing. You finished for him with a soft smile, "Sexual moral pervert.”
Spencer’s lips upturned in a smile. It was rare somebody in the office could finish his sentences. And he couldn’t help but replay the crass words being said in your soft voice. He felt a crush hijacking his system already. Dear god.
“Most people don’t recognize it in the original Russian.”  Spencer heard you say.
“Most people probably wouldn’t recognize it in English.” he retorted.
You laughed, “Yeah, you’re right.”
Spencer wasn’t even kidding. “I’m not joking.” He shook his head. “It’s unfortunate how many people aren’t even vaguely familiar with Tolstoy.”
“It is.” you agreed. “You went to Caltech, correct?”
He smiled, “Yes.”
“I almost did too. Decided last minute on Columbia.”
“You went to Columbia?” he asked.
“I just graduated.”
“How old are you?” he asked before quickly correcting himself,  “I’m sorry! That was forward! I am not...I’m not trying to undermine your studies with your age, I promise. I’m just curious.”
“No! It’s okay!” You got out fast. “I’m 19. I graduated high school a little bit early.”
“Me too.” He smiled. “12, actually.”
Your eyes went wide, “12?”
“Yes, um, in a Las Vegas public high school.” He winced, but the self-deprecation somehow came out charming, “I uh,” His eyes narrowed, “didn’t go to a lot of parties.”
That made you wholeheartedly laugh. “Me neither! I graduated at 15, which you know is the age everybody else starts. It created a really weird dynamic because the older kids in my grade didn’t like me, but the underclassmen my age really didn’t like me.”
Instead of the laugh you were expecting, Spencer just gave you a pensive stare.
“Um..I can’t see why. I think you’re very likeable.” The compliment would’ve been strange exchanged by anybody other than Spencer to you.
“Wait till you get to know me.” You said it through a smile but so softly you were afraid he might not be able to hear it, but he did.
And that was confirmed when he flashed you the most incredible, toothy grin you’d ever seen. “I uh, I doubt there will be any change in opinion.”
“Well, um, I’m sure- I think! You’re very likeable as well Dr. Reid.” you said.
“That’s what you say now.” He retorted in the same coy tone you had earlier.
You shook your head, “You’ll find I can be insufferably stubborn.”
-----------------------------------
After two weeks, there was little Spencer could do to hide his massive crush affinity for you from the team.
In the bullpen:
You guys had locked eyes and were mouthing out exchanged of No’s and Yes’s from across the room. There was an ongoing half-serious dispute about whether or not Xanthippe slept with Plato.
Morgan glided in his wheeled chair to whisper into Spencer’s ear.
“Reid, stop giving JJ’s intern bedroom eyes. It fuckin’ weirds me out.” He said, shoving files into the cabinet below Reid’s desk.
“I’m..I’m not.. I--what? Bedr--No!” Reid whisper-shouted back.
On the jet:
“Reid?” Gideon called Spencer, “Chess?” He motioned towards the board.
“Yes, sure. Just give me a second. I’m almost done. I’m reading Infinite Jest. I don’t usually enjoy literature if it isn’t classic, even less so if it’s American. But..” Spencer smiled, “Y/N likes the author.”  He continued his fast-paced reading of the third-to-last chapter of the book.
Morgan and Gideon exchanged glances.
Even in front of you:
You opened a sugar packet and began stirring.
“De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium is still some of the best work on  heliocentric theory out there, I think. Copernicus knew what he was talking about!” You spun on your heels to see Reid’s face contorted in disagreement. You giggled, “Don’t give me that face! I’m right!”
He took a sip of his coffee as to keep himself quiet. “Listen, cosmological theory is for
”
But the pair of you were interrupted, it was Elle, standing behind you and in front of Spencer.
“New skirt?” Elle asked as you turned, back now facing Reid.  She was pouring herself a cup of coffee too.
“Yes!” You excitedly nodded. “You like it?”
Elle looked up and down, but not at you. The judgmental eyes were for the man behind you. She pursed her lips, “Not just me.”
The only face redder than yours was Reid’s.
-----------------------------------
Nights spent in a bar after a case that had dragged on far too long was nothing new, but the energy tonight was especially light. Gideon had refused, but everybody else was just relaxed, even Hotch, and the team just got happier at each other's happiness. It was great, really. As Hotch and Morgan sipped on whiskey, JJ and Penelope had already downed four sugary, colorful cocktails and were in a whispered fit of giggles. Elle and Spencer settled on a tamer option of an IPA Spencer couldn’t name.
“SPENCER!” Penelope excitedly shouted, “Y/N is literally you! You’re both adorable! You’re both geniuses! You’re both young!” She drew on her rant, “And if you have a crush on her you should just tell her!” JJ’s eyes widened in embarrassment as she tried to cover Penelope’s mouth.
Morgan and Elle erupted in soft laughter while Hotch cracked an uncharacteristically amused smile.
“Spence, I swear, I didn’t say that! I just...I may have mentioned how happy you get every time she’s around! And how you guys can talk for literally hours!” JJ defended, her words slurring in silly drunkenness.
Spencer rolled his eyes. This wasn’t the first time they teased him about you, and it probably wouldn’t be the last time either.
“I don’t have a crush on her! We just
.we like the same things! It gives us a lot to talk about.”
“Yeah?” Morgan said through a laugh, “And what is it that boy and girl wonder talk about so much?”
“Well, uh.. a lot of things. But I find she gets the most excited when we are discussing the theories of postmodernism, in that apparent realities are actually just social constructs and veritable realities are subject to change, and uh... we like to talk about linguistics
.political philosophy
.history... mathematic theory...and uh, oh! Doctor Who.”
Spencer was blushing and spoke about you like a teenage girl did their boyband crush, and the team noticed. They didn’t even need to say it out loud. Spencer gathered from the way they looked back at him.
“I heard she lent you a book too, Reid.” Hotch said before taking a sip from his glass.
“Yes! She did!” He smiled, “It was her copy of Pale Fire. She has an impressive collection of 19th century Russian literature. All in its original dialect! Some of it’s even annotated, which usually would annoy me but since it’s her thoughts and notes I sort of find it endearing.”
“Dr. Reid is endeared!” Greenaway shrieked.
“Yeah,” he nodded, pushing his glasses up a little higher on his nose, “I find her incredibly endearing.”
“Y’all that sounded like a dorky love confession.” Morgan said as the team erupted in laughter and Reid’s head fell in a smile. There was no point in denying it anymore: He really, really liked you.
--------------------------------------
Within two months, you and Spencer had finally put your shyness aside, and spent a very lovely evening at watching an orchestra at the Smithsonian Music,  and sharing noodles at your favorite Thai restaurant. And then you guys spent some time on your couch. And then in your bed. And then in the shower. And then in the kitchen. You were both very sexually frustrated.
For the following two months, as soon as you both stepped out of the office, it was very, very hard to keep your hands off each other. Could either of you help it though? Teenage geniuses don’t experience parties, or football games, or clumsy sex. The time was perfect to make up for it.
And you guys did. The sex part at least. “Football involves a lot of dirt. And germs. And sweat.”
“Oh my god!” you shrieked. His hands were in a place they found themselves more and more often: Your pants.
“Does it feel good?” he asked, continuing his pattern of small circles on that particular bundle of nerves.
“It feels great.” You nodded.
“I uh, I’ve been researching the female anatomy.”
You closed your eyes and nodded your head, but trying to focus on your boyfriends newfound intellect. “It’s fascinating, isn’t it?”
He watched your undoing with boyish adoration and curiosity before swallowing, “Very.”
“Oh fuck!” Your legs began to shake, “Spencee...I’m gonn--”
--------------------------------------------
You and Spencer just understood each other.

4 times his friends posted you on their instagram + 1 time he did - mat barzal
Tumblr media
a/n: I wrote this literally back in july so lets just ignore how idealistic this is regarding quarantine but im a slut for some barzy this is all fluff
word count: 4,733
summary: like the title says, some friends (with benefits?) to lovers + a tyson cameo, fluffy summer quarantine fic
tagging @davidpastrsnack so kate can get on the barzy train
-
1.
To say the whole quarantine thing was an inconvenience was an understatement. School had ended online, your summer internship was cancelled, and it seemed like your summer would turn into an uneventful couple of months stuck in your apartment in, probably, the worst place to be stuck in during a pandemic: New York City.
Or so you thought.
You’d planned on having the most boring summer ever until your friend, Mat, had invited you to hole up away with him and a few friends in a lake house back in Vancouver. Well, friend was a loose term. The two of you were friends
 just ones that kissed occasionally
and sometimes more than kissed. You’d met him about a year ago at a bar while he was out with his teammates after a game. A cliche meeting, but you hit it off instantly. Instead of ending up in his bed at the end of the night (which you would eventually end up at after a couple months), it turned into an exchange of numbers and an invitation to hang out later in the week.
You hadn’t thought anything of it at first, just thinking he was being friendly and wanting to end the conversation, so you were surprised to get a text the next day from an unknown number asking if you’d wanted to go on a bike ride.
Flashforward a year later and the two of you still went on bike rides together. At least, up until the pandemic started.
When the text came telling you to pack your bags for a month or so, you thought he was joking. Surely he couldn’t have meant you to join him in Vancouver over the summer? You were proven wrong when he showed up at your apartment the next day, two coffees in his hand.
“Uh, hi, Mathew,” you said hesitantly, opening your door to reveal your disheveled state, having just woken up.
“Why are you dressed like that? We have a plane to catch in four hours,” he said, pushing himself through your door, uninvited, to set the coffees on the counter.
“What are you doing here? What plane? You’re not supposed to be going out,” you reprimanded him for showing up unannounced and in the middle of quarantine.
“I told you we’re going to Vancouver, I know you read my text. Now let’s hurry up and pack, we gotta get going,” Mat rushed, already on the way to your bedroom.
You followed him after a brief moment once you’d processed what was going on. Mat had already pulled out your suitcase and set it on top of your bed by the time you entered the door. He was in the middle of rifling through your drawers and grabbing random garments to throw into the suitcase when you’d spoken again.
“You’re actually serious about this?”
“Of course I am. What better things do you have to do in a city on lockdown for an entire summer? Honestly, I’m doing you a favor,” he explained easily, turning back to grab more items.
“Oh, you’re doing me a favor? Thank you, Mat, for saving me from a summer of suffering. It’s not like I had other plans to find different internships or focus on my summer classes,” you replied sarcastically.
Mat rolled his eyes. “I am doing you a favor, and you’re doing me a favor by going. I need a hot piece of ass to get me through this, or I will lose my mind.ïżœïżœïżœ You slugged him on the shoulder in offense, but all he did was chuckle.
“And anyways, you can still do your classes in Vancouver. Instead of doing them locked in this apartment, you can do them lounged out under the Canadian sun. Preferably in a bikini,” he finished. You slugged his arm again, harder this time.
“In fact, you should take the red bikini, it makes your tits look amazing,” he said, noticing you shuffling through your swimsuits. You rolled your eyes at him but grabbed the red one anyway along with a couple others.
With both of you folding and packing, your bags were ready to go in record time.
“Alright, baby, let’s go.” And so you were off.
A week had gone by in total bliss. As much as you hated to admit it, Mat was right. Vacationing in Vancouver in a secluded lake house was a lot better than being alone in your apartment, even if you did still have classes to do. Mat teased you about it, but he always left you alone for a few hours in the day for you to focus on your work. Unless he really wanted something
 like right now.
Mat had joined you laying on the couch while you were in the middle of annotating a book for class. He wiggled his way between your arms, causing you to break your hold on your book. He rested his head on your chest, arms wrapped around your middle, and nuzzled his face into your neck. Joining your hands back to your book and bringing your highlighter to the page, you continued to underline phrases you’d come back to later. A couple minutes passed in silence before Mat started sighing. And then he sighed again.
“What do you want?” you huffed out, closing your book with the pen marking your page.
“Let’s go swimming,” he said, pushing up to his elbows to look at your face.
“I have to finish, like, three more chapters today,” you explained.
“You can do that later. I want to go swimming now,” Mat whined.
“You know you sound like a petulant child right now, right?” you asked, moving a hand to his head, pushing his hair back as he pouted.
“Stop using big words on me. Let’s swim,” he said, rolling his eyes.
You paused to think about it for a moment, “Hmm
okay, I guess,” you said with a smile. Mat returned your smile with one of his own before hopping up to drag you to your room to change. It didn’t take much to convince you to swim. It was a really nice day out, and you didn’t really care to finish reading about 17th century philosophy.
You changed into your red bikini, Mat swapped his shorts for a pair of swim trunks, and threw on a backwards baseball cap. You went out back to join the rest of his friend group, who were in the process of loading up the boat with supplies and equipment.
“Oh, look, if it isn’t Brainiac and the Beast. Are you two finally going to go boating with us?” Tyson shouted from the dock. You rolled your eyes at his nickname they created for you and Mat. It had only been a week in Vancouver, but the chirps about you and school were tired by now.
“Princess here wants to swim in the pool, maybe next time!” you shouted back, pointing to Mat.
They laughed at your response, turning their attention back to the boat and running supplies to and from the house. You turned your attention back to Mat, who was taking off his hat and was about two seconds away from jumping in the pool.
“Mathew, stop!” you yelled out, “Get your ass over here!”
“What is it?” he asked, stopping just short of the deep end. He grumbled before marching over to you.
“You need to put sunscreen on first, dumbass,” you reprimanded. As you turned your back to grab the bottle of sunscreen, he rolled his eyes.
“Don’t roll your eyes at me, Mat,” you said sharply, turning back to face him with a raised eyebrow.
“Wouldn’t dream of it, baby.”
You ignored him, opening the cap and squeezing lotion onto your hands. You gestured him to turn around, and you spread the lotion over it, making sure to rub it into his shoulders.
“I don’t see why I have to put sunscreen on. It’s not even that hot outside,” he muttered.
“First of all, you’re a dumbass. Second of all, heat doesn’t automatically mean the UV rays aren’t strong. And lastly, you’re white, baby, you’ll burn like a sun-dried tomato and being in water only increases the amount of sun you’re exposed to,” you explained, reaching up to rub some on his face.
“Sorry, Miss Meteorologist,” he grumbled, clearly not happy he’d lost this argument.
“One of us has to have brains. We can’t all get by on our good looks and skating ability,” you replied, slapping his cheeks when you were done for good measure.
“Okay, well, if you’re finally done,” you nodded in confirmation, “Let’s go.” He picked you up from under your thighs and ran at full speed towards the pool before you could even process what was happening. You screamed his name in protest begging him to put you down, claiming you hadn’t had time to put on sunscreen yet. He ignored you as he jumped into the deep end, dragging you with him.
You emerged from the water clinging to Mat’s wet body, your hair sopping and hanging over your face like you had come straight out of the movie The Grudge. Mat was laughing at your chaotic look, knowing you were well pissed at him. You jumped higher in the water on top of him to dunk his head under and tried your best to drown him.
It wasn’t until you were relaxing on the couch later that night doing your routinely social media scroll that you saw one of the guys recorded your sunscreen interaction by the pool, you calling Mat a dumbass, and him throwing you in the pool onto their instagram story with a caption “all these two do is fight” with some laughing crying emojis added for effect.
2.
After a long day or hiking, you’d immediately crashed on the couch once you’d gotten back to the house, not bothering to walk all the way to your room. It was only early in the afternoon but you’d been out since sunrise, and dealing with people for hours on end had drained you. The group laughed at you as you plopped your body down onto the couch, curling your head under your arm instead of grabbing the pillow two feet away from you. The rest of them gathered in the kitchen, refueling their bodies with assorted snacks as they started popping open bottles of beer, ready to start the night. It seemed that even an entire day on their feet had not emptied them of their, seemingly endless, energy.
“Jesus Christ, we hiked for, like, six hours and you’re all still bouncing off the walls,” you sighed deeply.
“We’re about to go hit the boat and go water skiing, too. I’m assuming you’re too tired to join us?” Tyson teased.
“I will not be joining you because unlike some people, I need a nap. Now get out of here, you’re all giving me a headache,” you said, pinching your fingers on the bridge of your nose to emphasize your point.
They all snickered but kept quiet as they shuffled around, packing up more food to take outside. You heard the sliding door shut and close a few times as they ran in and out before it was finally silent. You let out a sigh of relief as you took solace in the calm quiet.
That was until you felt a pair of arms shifting you closer to the edge of the couch. You peeked one eye open to see Mat rolling your body over to give him some space as he climbed over your body to nestle himself between you and the back cushions.
“Not going out on the boat?” You asked as he tucked a pillow under the both of your heads and pulled a blanket over your bodies.
“No. They’re exhausting. I need some time for myself,” Mat replied, wrapping his arm around your middle to pull you into his chest.
“No offense, but if you’re with me, you’re not by yourself,” you explained, closing your eyes again as you settled into a comfortable position.
“Yeah, but you’re you. You don’t exhaust me,” he said quietly. You didn’t know what to say to that, so you didn’t answer. Within a few seconds you heard Mat’s breathing even out, and you followed quickly behind him into a deep sleep.
-
A couple hours passed in a dreamless sleep when you heard the sliding of doors and laughter travel through the house. It stirred you from your sleep and you both shifted around, letting out displeased groans.
“Are they both still asleep?” You heard one of them ask from the kitchen. Neither of you wanted to answer in hopes they would leave you two to continue sleeping.
You were sadly mistaken.
“Hey! Sleeping beauties! Time to get up!” Tyson shouted from somewhere above you.
You both groaned out a “Fuck off, Tyson,” without opening your eyes, both of you giving him the middle finger. Tyson laughed to himself and you expected him to keep bothering you, but you heard his footsteps lead away from the couch. You turned over on your other side, tucking your face into Mat’s neck before falling back asleep.
-
When you woke up later that evening, you checked instagram again to see Tyson posted a new story. It was the video of him bothering you two and flipping him off with a caption that said “I get no respect around here :(“
3.
It had been raining all day. Which meant everyone was stuck inside watching movies and eating pizza. It didn’t take long for you to get bored of lounging on the couch, especially when all they wanted to do was watch Fast and Furious movies. You sat on the loveseat you were sharing with Mat, and you distracted yourself from the boring movie by tangling your hands in your hair, French braiding the strands into pigtails mindlessly. You unbraided and rebraided your hair into a fishtail after the pigtails, and then into a regular braided ponytail after that. You let yourself get caught up in daydreams as you stared blankly at the TV when Mat started tugging on your leg. Dropping your braid, you finished tying it off with a hair tie and turned to look at him.
“Let me practice on you,” Mat said quietly.
“Practice what?” You asked.
“Braiding,” he said, shuffling to sit upright. He tried to gently push you off the couch until you got the hint and moved to sit between his legs on the floor.
“You think you can do it?” You asked, ready to offer him a demonstration.
“I’ve been watching you for the past half hour, I got this,” he replied, pulling out your hair tie. You rolled your eyes at his confidence, but let him continue unraveling the strands.
Every few minutes Mat would sigh exasperatedly before pulling out the twists he’d made to start over. Eventually, he’d almost gotten all the way to the end of your hair before he sighed again, clearly fed up by how long this was taking him. You didn’t say anything as he restarted for a third time, going for a straight back braid instead of a French braid.
After another ten minutes, Mat had finally completed his simple braid, tying your hair off with the tie. He tapped your shoulder to indicate he was done, and you pulled the long tail over your shoulder to look at it.
It was a braid.
An extremely loose one where he mixed up the strand order in a couple places, but a braid nonetheless. You turned around to get back up on the couch, and you were met with his triumphant smile.
“Good job, bud,” you complimented, leaving the braid in as you resumed your previous position on the couch.
-
You checked your phone to find a notification of a new story tag. You opened the app to see a picture of you on the floor, staring at the TV while Mat had his hands twisted in your hair and a confused look on his face and tongue poking out of his mouth. Next to your instagram tag was “he’s been knotting her hair on purpose for 20 minutes now”
4.
Your final exams for the summer classes you were taking were in a week. Finals stressed you out more than anything else in the world, and when you were stressed, you did a lot of baking. A lot of baking. After finishing your finals study schedule and nearly breaking down almost twice because of the amount you had to get done, you decided to start baking instead of going to sleep. So, at 3 in the morning when everyone was asleep, you’d  turned on the oven and brought out the bowls.
It began with a few dozen cookies. You figured everyone could at least enjoy the cookies. Who didn’t like cookies?
Cookies turned into muffins, muffins into cupcakes, and then cupcakes into pies. By the time everyone was waking up, it was nearly eleven in the morning. You’d gone to the store twice and had taken a few twenty minute naps while you waited for your desserts baked in the oven. And right now, you were in the middle of finishing off some cinnamon rolls for breakfast
“Oh my god, what the hell happened here?” Mat had asked with a scared expression, taking note of the disastrous kitchen. You didn’t answer him as you were topping off the rolls with some icing.
A few more bodies had gathered in the kitchen and began to fill the seats at the countertop while they watched you with worried eyes.
“What?” You asked innocently, placing the plates of cinnamon rolls in front of all of them. Their eyes followed you carefully as you pulled more goods out of the oven where you were keeping them warm. Plate after plate you set on the counter, all the cookies and muffins and cakes.
“How long have you been up?” Tyson asked cautiously. You swear you’ve never heard him use a softer voice than right now.
“I’m not sure. I never went to sleep, I guess? What time is it now?” You asked, pulling out glasses for orange juice.
“Nearly noon. You seriously didn’t sleep?” Tyson asked. The others had delved into the confections, eyes bouncing between the two of you as they stuffed their faces.
“She’s stress baking,” Mat replied quietly, helping himself to a cinnamon roll.
“What the hell is tress baking?” One of the other guys asked.
“Yeah she does this when she’s stressed. Usually when finals are coming up,” Mat said, directing it more towards you than his friend. You gave him a sheepish look, deciding not to comment since he already answered for you.
Mat was used to your stress baking as it resulted in you showing up at his place in the middle of the night with bags full of pastries in the late hours of the evening. It was always against his diet and he frequently gave most of your desserts to his neighbor, but he could never tell you no when you arrived with gifts.
“Well, I’m all out of flour, so, I’m going to run to the store again to get some more supplies so I can make a chocolate cake later,” you said hurriedly.
You did a quick double check of the kitchen, flashing all the guys a bright smile before heading out the door with your purse in hand, all of them staring until the front door shut behind you.
-
When you came back, you found Mat in the kitchen doing the dishes and nearly all the sweets you’d baked earlier were eaten or wrapped and put away. Maybe there was a plus side to being in a home with five other people.
“Mat, you don’t have to do that,” you said, setting your groceries down and hip checking him away from the sink.
“You’re already stressed, I figured doing the dishes would take away some of that,” he said with a shrug. He continued rinsing out some bowls as you gave him a small smile.
The two of you continued to wash the dishes in silence, moving to clean the countertops when you were done. After half an hour, the mess you’d made was gone and any signs of a baking breakdown had been erased.
It was a shame you were about to tear up the kitchen all over again.
“How about this,” Mat said, noticing the frown on your face at the thought of making another mess, “Let’s have a competition.”
You quirked your eyebrow, “I’m listening.”
“You said you were making a chocolate cake, right? How about we see who can make the better cake,” Mat propositioned.
You raised both your eyebrows this time. You both knew you were the better baker by a long shot. You did have this same breakdown at least twice a year. You weren’t even sure Mat knew how to make anything that didn’t come with box instructions or included possible salmonella-inducing ingredients.
You knew what he was really trying to do. He was trying to distract you from all the stress, and he knew you couldn’t turn down a competition. You were just as bad as him when it came to winning. Thankfully, this was something you knew you’d win.
“Fine, but I hope you’re prepared to lose,” you agreed with a smile.
“I don’t know, I have been practicing my cooking skills lately,” he said, grabbing the bowls he’d just dried off.
“Yeah, I’ll believe that when I see it,” you replied with an eye roll and heavy sarcasm.
You joined him in gathering all the ingredients and materials on the counter, setting up your respective stations. Mat divided the workspace in half, drawing a line in flour which made you laugh. You split the bowls between the sides and set up the ingredients on the second counter just like an actual cooking show.
“Okay, ground rules first. Half an hour to make the cakes, we bake them at the same time, and then another half hour for decorating at the end,” you explained, tying your hair back in a ponytail. Mat nodded at your statement and set a timer on his phone for 30 minutes.
“Ready.”
“Set.”
“Go!”
-
After about two hours, your creations were done. Well, they were supposed to be. Mat’s cake looked more or less like a brown lump coated in frosting and stripes. You’d tried your best to decorate yours with small chocolate roses, but you could’ve turned out a plain cake and probably would have done better.
“I think I won,” you stated confidently.
“You’re not allowed to decide, you’re biased! I’ll make a poll on my story,” Mat said, going to grab his phone.
“You can’t do that, your followers are going to pick yours.”
“Fine, we’ll get someone else to do it— Josty! Come here,” Mat called to his friend passing through the kitchen. He hesitantly walked over to where you were, not wanting to come in the middle of whatever you two were shouting about.
“We need you to make an instagram poll to see who’s cake looks better. Oh, and you’re going to taste test them,” you said, picking up your cake to pose for a picture as Mat did the same. Tyson sighed before realizing you two were serious and he opened his app to take a picture.
He added the photo to his story with a poll asking “Which one is better?” With two options, Y/N’s or Mat’s.
After you set the cakes back down, Tyson picked up a fork before stabbing them to pick out a chunk from each. He ate yours first, nearly moaning at the taste.
“Holy shit, this is, like, the best cake I’ve ever eaten,” Tyson said, shoveling down another forkful. You gave Mat a shit-eating grin.
“Okay, okay, try mine now,” Mat said, displeased. Tyson rolled his eyes before forking out some of his.
“Uh,” he coughed, “it’s a little,” cough, “dry.”
“What? No, it’s not! Let me try,” Mat shouted, outraged, and grabbed Tyson’s fork to try for himself.
It took him two seconds before he was spitting the cake into a napkin.
“Fine. You win,” Mat conceded, throwing a dish towel against the counter in mock fury.
You gloated for another 5 minutes, pointing out Mat’s terrible baking skills as Tyson continued to eat your cake and laugh at Mat.
You won the instagram poll too.
+ 1
It was the last week before you and Mat were flying back to New York. The past month had passed quickly, and Mat needed to get back for the start of training camps. As the summer began to end, the whole crew thought they’d spend one last day on the boat before everyone started parting ways.
It’s not like you were opposed to being on boats, but when all the guys did was water sports and no one wanted to slow down to teach you, it wasn’t as fun.
Today, however, had been quite calm as you sat against the front of the boat, a seltzer in hand as you watched Tyson wakeboarding in the back. Mat was curled up behind you as you leaned back against his chest, tanned skin shining in the summer sun. You reached back to grab the baseball cap off his head, placing it on yours to shield your eyes from the sun. You’d forgotten to bring sunglasses, and you figured Mat could part with his hat since he had a pair.
The day passed peacefully as all the guys took turns until it was sunset. Mat had joined you back on the seat, skin wet from just getting out of the water. He wrapped you in his arms before pulling you onto his lap, pressing a quick kiss to your cheek.
“Hey, Tys, take a picture of us real quick,” Mat said, shoving his phone into Tyson’s chest.
You thought nothing of it, you and Mat had taken many pictures together, and this was no different. Mat rested his chin on your shoulder, his arms wrapped around your stomach as you both gave your cheesiest smiles to the camera. A quick shutter indicated the picture was taken and Tyson gave Mat his phone back.
-
Mat called your name from your bed as you stood in the adjoined bathroom, finishing your nightly routine.
“Hey, do you mind if I post that picture of us on my instagram?” Mat called out.
“The one from the boat? Why?” You asked, drying off your face with a towel.
“It’s a cute picture,” he shrugged when you reentered the room.
“People are going to start talking if you do,” you warned with a cautious tone.
He paused for a second.
“Would that be such a bad thing?” Mat asked quietly, looking up to meet your eyes.
You stayed silent as you climbed in under the covers.
“What are you trying to say, Mat?”
He took a deep breath, “I think you’re amazing, you know that. And we’ve been friends for so long, it kind of feels natural, doesn’t it?” His fingers began tapping against the sheets anxiously as he held his breath and waited for your response.
You gave him a small smile, moving your body around to fully face him.
“It does,” you agreed, “But if you want us to be something more, you’re going to have to ask me on a date first.”
“A date? After I’ve already gotten you into bed? What’s the point?” You knew he meant it as a joke since he could barely finish the sentence without laughing, but you gently slapped his head as he began to apologize.
“I’m kidding!” He said between chuckles, “Will you go on a date with me once we get back to New York and it’s safe to go out again?”
“I’d love to, Mat,” you replied, leaning in to give him a sweet kiss.
“I’m still going to post that photo tomorrow, though,” he said after a short pause, smiling against your lips.
-
The next day when Mat had gone on a fishing trip with the guys, you saw a notification pop up on your phone.
“@barzal97 tagged you in a photo”
You unlocked your phone.
“Isolation isn’t so bad when you have this girl to spend it with”

You loved your job, you really did.
Teaching little kids all day long was an absolute joy for you. But if you said recess wasn’t your favourite time of the day, you’d definitely be lying. “Finally,” you groaned as you took a seat on a sofa in the teacher’s lounge, a large cup of coffee in your hand as you closed your eyes.
Sangyeon, Jacob and Hyunjae – three teachers at your school that you considered close friends – shared knowing smiles. “Rough morning?” Jacob asked.
“I love my students,” you said, eyes still closed. “But they can be little devils sometimes.”
Hyunjae burst into laughter as Jacob and Sangyeon grinned. “They can’t be that bad?”
You opened your eyes to observe your colleagues. “It’s Emma’s birthday today. She brought cake for the entire class, and they ate the entire thing within the first ten minutes of first period,” you recalled in a monotone voice.
Jacob winced. “Sugar rush?” he guessed.
“You have no idea,” you complained, having flashbacks to your students running around the classroom and causing absolute chaos. “I would literally kill for some coffee. Or at least maim.”
Hyunjae pointed at your mug. “What do you call that?” he teased.
“Terrible teacher lounge coffee that hasn’t been warm for, like, an hour,” you observed as you took a sip of your coffee. Then, you winced and pushed the mug away from you. “I may be desperate for a good caffeine fix, but I’m not that desperate,” you mumbled as you got up to toss the contents of your mug down the sink.
Sangyeon’s eyes trailed after your retreating figure, a mindless smile on his face as he observed the way you glared at your, now empty, mug in disgust as if it had betrayed you. His gaze drew towards Jacob when his colleague cleared his throat, a knowing look in his and Hyunjae’s eyes as Sangyeon gave them an innocent smile. “Are you ever going to ask her out?” Jacob asked with a lowered voice.
Although he knew he had been caught, Sangyeon still made his attempt at playing innocent. “Ask who out?”
Hyunjae rolled his eyes. “Don’t pretend. You’re a really bad liar and you’re just way too obviously in love with Teacher Y/n,” he said, imitating your students when they call out to you.
Despite his best efforts, Sangyeon couldn’t hide the blush that appeared on his cheeks. As he opened his mouth to protest, you took your seat on the sofa opposite the trio, muttering to yourself about terrible coffee. Noticing the shift in atmosphere, you raised an eyebrow at your colleagues. “Did something happen while I was gone?” you wondered.
“No,” the three men chorused, which only made you more suspicious of them. With a shrug, you dismissed their odd behaviour, deciding that it was best not to pursue your curiosity. “So Y/n, did you ever find out who your secret admirer is?” Hyunjae wondered.
A small pout appeared on your lips. “No,” you sighed, clasping your hands together to rest on your knees.
For a few months now, you had been receiving little gifts on your desk when you stepped out of your classroom for your breaks or free periods. At first, they were just little things that lifted your mood in the middle of the day; sticky notes with funny faces and encouraging quotes, or small gummy and snack packets to give you energy at the end of your long day.
Then, the gifts started becoming a little more personal.
A gift certificate to your favourite coffee chain, packs of stickers or staples that you just so happened to be running out of, muffins from your favourite bakery, and even a beautiful leather-bound journal that you had mentioned you wanted to a few friends and coworkers.
You didn’t know who the gifts were from, but you desperately wanted to meet them.
Not only did they brighten your day every single time you got a new gift, but they seemed to be presents that were specifically purchased for you.
“Has anybody else been getting gifts?” you inquired.
“Not as far as I know,” Jacob denied, Hyunjae and Sangyeon humming in agreement. “Besides, aren’t the gifts all perfect for you?”
You nodded. “Most of them are things that I vaguely mentioned, or silently pined after. Sometimes they’re just little pick-me-ups like snacks, but they still seem to know my taste perfectly.”
Jacob smiled. “That’s kind of romantic,” he mused, causing Sangyeon to choke on the water he had been sipping. He coughed, leaning forward to place his mug down, and covered his mouth as he tried to catch his breath. You, Hyunjae and Jacob gave him looks of concern, which he immediately waved off.
“I’m good,” Sangyeon assured the three of you. “You-“ he coughed. “You think it’s romantic?”
“Of course!” Jacob said cheerily. “Gifts that fit her taste without ever revealing who sent them
A secret admirer. Super romantic,” he assured his friend, sending him a subtle wink when you weren’t looking.
“I just wish I could repay them somehow,” you sighed. “I feel like they make my days easier and I don’t even have a way to thank them.”
“I’m sure they’ll reveal themselves with time,” Hyunjae told you, probably in an attempt to cheer you up. “Maybe they’re just a little shy.”
“Maybe,” you echoed half-heartedly. The bell rung, indicating that recess was over and class would start again in five minutes.
“Coming?” Sangyeon asked, standing up to walk you to your classroom. Your classrooms were in the same corridor, even though Sangyeon taught fourth grade and you taught second.
You shook your head. “My kids have Gym right now, so I have a free,” you said. “I have some grading to do, so I’m just going to hang out here.”
“Not going to hunt for a better cup of coffee?” Sangyeon teased, copying the horrified face you made when you took a sip of the cold teacher’s lounge coffee.
With a laugh, you merely shook your head. “I’m too lazy to leave campus. Plus, I should probably cut down on my caffeine consumption anyway.”
“Right,” Hyunjae nodded. “I’ll remind you of that in three hours when it’s lunchtime and you’re completely worn-out from your seven-year-old students,” he said, saluting you in lieu of a goodbye. You waved to him, Jacob and Sangyeon as they left the lounge, taking out your bag to get to grading your students’ tests.
Since they were only second graders, the grading wasn’t exactly difficult, just time-consuming. By the time the bell rang to indicate Gym class had ended, you had just finished all of their maths tests. After stretching, you made your way over to your classroom so that you could be there before your students changed after Gym class.
Entering your classroom, you could already feel a bit of fatigue kicking in, and you cursed yourself for not getting a cup of coffee after all. Before you could wallow in your regret any further, you noticed the paper take-away cup on your desk. The bright blue sticky note on the cup instantly brought a smile to your face.
Don’t let the little devils wear you down too much. x
You picked the cup up, delighted that the coffee was still warm to the touch and relishing in the taste as you took a sip. “Secret admirer, you must be from heaven,” you muttered, grateful that your secret admirer had gone out of their way to make sure you were properly caffeinated.
“Teacher Y/n!” someone shouted, barreling into your classroom. Several students trailed behind, giving you similar greetings coupled with large beams.
“How was Gym?” you asked, putting your coffee down and listening to your students’ excited stories about who won the dodgeball game that day. “Well while you guys were having fun, I was working very hard to grade your math tests! Do you want to see how you did?”
Their cheers were enough for you to burst into laughter as you took their papers out of your test. “Teacher Y/n,” one of your students, Minho, raised his hand with big eyes.
The sight was absolutely adorable. “Yes, Minho?” you smiled.
“What did your secret Santa give you today?” he asked.
“Secret Santa is for Christmas time,” you corrected. “The person leaving me presents is just a nice friend,” you explained.
“Okay,” Minho nodded, eagerly absorbing your words. “What did your nice friend give you?”
“Something warm to drink,” you explained, pointing in the direction of your take-away cup before handing the seven-year-old his test back. “The teacher’s lounge has coffee but the coffee from my friend is from my favourite store.”
“Do we know your friend?” Sana, a little girl who always wore pigtails and a huge smile, asked.
“I think so,” you mused. “They work here at school.”
“Who is it?” she wondered. “Is it your boyfriend?”
You laughed. “It’s not my boyfriend,” you assured Sana. “I actually don’t know who it is yet. It’s a mystery.”
“Like Sherlock Holmes,” Minho piped up.
“Yes, like Sherlock Holmes,” you agreed.
“We can try and solve the mystery together, then!” the boy decided. “We just need to look at the clues.”
“Alright,” you allowed, having finished handing out the tests. “We can do that after we go over this test. Does anybody have any questions on the test that they didn’t understand?”
Tumblr media
“That’s adorable,” Hyunjae laughed as you told him, Sangyeon, and Jacob about your students’ interest in your secret admirer. The four of you were sat outside at one of the picnic tables to enjoy the last few days of sunshine that autumn had to offer you. “Did they come up with anything?”
“They actually did,” you admitted. Sangyeon’s back straightened abruptly, curious about what your students figured out. “They decided that it’s definitely a teacher.”
“Really?” Sangyeon exclaimed, earning a weird look from Jacob and Hyunjae. “What makes them think that?”
“Well, I always get a little post-it note with all of my gifts,” you explained with a laugh. “And who uses post-it notes?”
“Teachers,” your three colleagues chorused.
“That’s pretty decent detective work,” Jacob complimented.
“My class certainly liked to think so,” you allowed, amused. “Anyway, my theory is that the admirer really is a teacher,” you added. “I doubt anyone other than other teachers have heard me talk about my favourite cafe, or which of my stationary is running low. I only ever talk about those kind of things in the teacher’s lounge or when I’m on lunch duty.”
“Sherlock Holmes indeed,” Hyunjae grinned, eyes crinkling at the outer corners. “Any theories on who it is?”
You sighed, shoulder drooping. “None at all,” you confessed. “Makes me feel kind of pathetic.”
“Hey, you’re not pathetic,” Jacob denied, putting his hand on your shoulder. “A little slow? Maybe. But certainly not pathetic,” you laughed, pleased at Jacob’s attempt to make you feel better.
“Teacher Y/n!” you heard Sana’s familiar voice as she ran up to you from the playground, her best friend Emma trailing after her.
“Hi girls,” you greeted. “Are you enjoying your lunch?” the two girls nodded.
“Emma, it’s your birthday today, isn’t it?” Sangyeon recalled from your rant at recess. The girl’s eyes lit up at his question, prompting her to nod her head excitedly.
“I’m turning eight,” she told him proudly.
Sangyeon beamed at her excitement, a fond look in his eyes. “Well I hope you have a wonderful birthday, Emma. You’ll have to tell me what presents you get when you come to school tomorrow,” he asked, which she immediately agreed to.
“I will, Teacher Sangyeon!” she promised.
Suddenly impatient, Sana crossed her arms. “Teacher Y/n, is Teacher Jacob your nice friend?” she wondered, pointing to where Jacob sat across from you.
“He’s a nice teacher friend, but he’s not the one who’s leaving me gifts,” you explained to the two girls. “Why do you ask?”
“We saw him touch your shoulder,” Sana explained. “We thought that meant he was your nice friend.”
“Sadly, you have the wrong guy,” Jacob said with a shrug. “But I’m going to try to help Teacher Y/n to find out who her nice teacher friend is. You guys already did a great job at helping her,” he added. Sana and Emma looked proud at the thought before they said their goodbyes, rushing off to grab the vacant swings before anybody else did.
“They’re so cute,” Hyunjae almost whined. “Why did I decide to teach sixth grade? Those kids aren’t cute anymore, they’re just savage.”
You grinned at the idea of Hyunjae being lightheartedly bullied by his twelve-year-old students. “You adore those kids, don’t lie to me,” you retorted. “And they’re still plenty cute.”
“They’re not that cute in sixth grade,” he denied, pointing in the direction Emma and Sana went. “And they don’t look at me with big, adorable eyes, or cling on to every word I say.”
“That’s just Y/n,” Sangyeon told them, smiling to himself as he dug into lunch. “My students are just two years older, and they don’t do any of those things to me.”
“You’re being modest,” you argued. “Emma looked at you like you told her she was the most special girl in the world when you remembered her birthday.”
“Maybe because it’s her birthday,” Sangyeon allowed, looking up from his food to smile at you. “But they look at you like that every single day. And it’s not just your students, either.”
His compliment made you blush.
Tumblr media
The gifts started coming on a daily basis after the day you got a cup of coffee.
Almost every time you had a free period, a fresh cup of coffee would wait for you when you returned to your classroom, and sometimes baked treats from your favourite bakery would accompany it.
You tried staying in your classroom to see who your gift fairy was, but on days you stayed your admirer never came. It was almost as if they knew every move you were making; like they had heard it before or could somehow read your mind.
“Is one of you giving out my plans?” you questioned your colleagues one day.
Hyunjae simply raised an eyebrow at you. “Explain.”
So you did: “I feel like my secret admirer is always a step ahead of me,” you mumbled. “If I ever wait for them, they don’t show up, and if I send students ahead to wait in the classroom, they still don’t show up. I don’t know how they do it.”
“Maybe it’s one of us,” Jacob said, causing Sangyeon to send a small kick to his ankle as a warning. Hyunjae snorted, covering it up by pretending to cough. “Have you ever considered that?”
“I hadn’t, actually,” you realised absent-mindedly. “But if it was one of you guys then you’d just tell me.”
“Sure,” Hyunjae nodded. “Eventually.”
“Right,” you said, as if this was enough evidence to suggest it couldn’t be Hyunjae, Jacob, or Sangyeon. “So I’m back to square one.”
The bell rang, indicating the end of recess, and you stood up to go back to your classroom. “I love art class,” you sighed as you waved your goodbyes to Hyunjae and Jacob, and made your way to your classroom with Sangyeon. “It’s the only time they get to be rowdy and excited and I don’t have to make them calm down.”
Sangyeon laughed. “Sounds nice,” he agreed.
“What do you have next?” you asked.
“I’m free, actually,” Sangyeon said. “I always have a free after recess.”
“How come you’re always rushing off, then?” you wondered, since he had never sat with you in the teacher’s lounge during recess.
“I use it as my lesson-planning time, which I prefer to do in my classroom because I’m always forgetting little things that I need,” he admitted.
“Well you should hang out with me in the lounge some time,” you offered. “It has terrible coffee but I hear I’m pretty good company,” you joke, stopping at your classroom.
“I might take you up on that,” Sangyeon grinned, winking at you before he made his way to his classroom a few doors down.
You cursed yourself for feeling shy at his wink. Sure, Sangyeon was incredibly handsome. But you had enough to worry about with your secret admirer; you didn’t need a schoolgirl crush on one of your closest colleagues to top it all off.
You sighed. “Control yourself, Y/n,” you muttered to yourself, entering your classroom and starting to hand out the worksheets for the period.
Tumblr media
You regretted ever saying that you loved art class.
After a sugar-filled recess, your class was more hyper than you had ever seen them and there was nothing that could be done to stop them. You had attempted multiple times to get them to listen to music or talk quietly, even going as far as to threaten them with staying on after lunch time to make up for the time lost during art class. You were about to lose your patience out of pure irritation and frustration when a knock sounded on the door of your classroom.
Sangyeon’s head popped in, a look of mild concern on his face. “Y/n, is everything okay?” he asked.
“Not really,” you admitted, running a hand through your hair in an attempt to curb your oncoming headache. “They won’t calm down. I’ve tried literally everything I can think of.”
“Mind if I give it a try?” he asked, earning an enthusiastic nod and a grateful smile from you. Sangyeon let himself in and stood at the front of the room. “Hi everyone!” he greeted loudly, causing your students to start to quiet down at the sight of a new face. “Thanks for waiting to start art class until I came,” he smiled, as if he was supposed to be there all along. “I’m Teacher Sangyeon from the fourth grade class down the hall.”
“He teaches big kids,” you heard Emma whisper to her desk mate. Cute.
“Teacher Y/n was just telling me how advanced and mature her second graders are. She even thought that I could come and teach them a little bit of fourth grade art since you’re all so far ahead,” Sangyeon complimented.
Gasps rang around the room, and you couldn’t be more grateful to him in that moment. “But you guys were pretty noisy when I came in. I’m not sure if you guys are really mature enough,” he trailed off, a look of concern on his face.
“We are!” Sana exclaimed, shushing her classmates with a stern expression. “We promise we are!”
“Well...” Sangyeon pretended to think for a moment. “If you guys can promise to be calm and good listeners, maybe I can still teach you like I teach fourth grade art. But only if you’re well behaved.”
In that moment, you were almost as entranced by Sangyeon as your students were.
Sangyeon took their silence as a promise and made his way over to your whiteboard, writing down his name and a few bullet points down. Then, he began to talk about being in the fourth grade and how different things would be from the second grade. He spoke with an air of confidence and kindness that made you realise why he became a teacher, and why all of his students loved him so much.
He was patient and informative without being condescending, and he took any questions and comments happily at any given moment. Sangyeon was definitely in his element, and it made him glow with relaxed joy.
You had always thought Sangyeon was attractive, but this was on a different level. He commanded the attention of all of your students and the way he just swooped in, giving up his entire free period to help you, made your heart swell with something akin to admiration. Sangyeon had your students giggling at his cheesy comments, and you found yourself smiling along with them, just as enchanted by him as your students were.
When he was done teaching, your students looked at him in awe and their eyes were dripping with respect and admiration. He dismissed them to lunch with your approval, and you practically leapt onto him when all your students left.
“Woah, what did I do to deserve that?” he wondered, wrapping his arms around you to return your hug nonetheless.
“Saved my class, and myself from a migraine,” you replied, sighing in relief. “Thank you, Sangyeon. Really. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I appreciate this,” you acknowledged, squeezing your eyes shut to relish in the hug. Sangyeon tightened his grip on you and sighed back, butterflies fluttering around his stomach.
Maybe he should just tell you that he’s your secret admirer, he considered.
“Of course, Y/n. You know that I’m always here if you need anything,” he said instead, pulling away from your hug to offer you a genuine smile. He wasn’t ready yet.
“I do,” you agreed with a nod. “And I can help you out anytime as well. Thank you. Let me buy you coffee or something as a proper thank you,” you offered, grabbing your bag without letting him reply.
“Not everyone is as obsessed with caffeine as you are,” Sangyeon retorted, gently nudging you with his hip to tease you.
“Hey, until they start selling it in an IV bag, I’m going to have to get my caffeine the old fashion way. C’mon, coffee shop three blocks away. My treat,” you smiled hopefully, holding up your wallet to jokingly entice him.
Sangyeon broke out into a large smile, eyes shaped like crescent moons. “I would love that,” he agreed, starting to erase his notes on the whiteboard as you clapped.
You watched him. “Your handwriting is beautiful,” you complimented, seeing the letters disappear. “I feel like I’ve seen it before,” you thought aloud, wondering why it looked so familiar.
“Really?” Sangyeon said, eyes wide as he sped up his process of erasing his lettering. “Probably in the yearbook or something.”
“Probably,” you dismissed the thought with a smile. “Now let’s go get our coffee on.”
Tumblr media
After Sangyeon saved your art class, and your head from a brutal migraine, he started spending more time with you during your mutual free periods. Usually, you sat in silence in the teacher’s lounge as you did any grading or class prep that needed to be done, but with Sangyeon’s presence, your free periods were much more colourful and laidback.
Sangyeon had a lighthearted way about him; everything he said was assuring kind, and didn’t fail to make your heart flutter. Usually, you only ever spent time with Sangyeon when Jacob and Hyunjae were around, but being alone with Sangyeon was a different situation entirely. You had always known he was handsome and considerate, but he exuded a different kind of energy when he wasn’t surrounded by your friends.
As he sat next to you at one of the tables in the teacher’s lounge before the school day started, you couldn’t help but admire his profile; he was practically flawless. He had a long, slender nose and high cheekbones that made Sangyeon look more angular than soft. His deep brown eyes and pillow-soft lips-
“Y/n?” you snapped out of your trail of thoughts, realising that you had been blatantly staring at your coworker. Sangyeon gave you a concerned look. “You okay?”
“Oh, I’m fine!” you promised, clearing your throat and adjusting your shirt to give your hands something to do. “Sorry. What were you saying?”
The bell chimed, indicating that the school day would begin soon. You and Sangyeon stood up from your chairs and started collecting your papers. “I was just saying that I can’t stay with you during my free, I have some errands to run,” he explained, giving you a wave before he ran off to grab something from his car before class started.
You rose an eyebrow. “I don’t have a free today,” you mumbled to yourself, making your way to your classroom to start your first period class.

Sangyeon grinned, lifting the flower bouquet in his hand to smell the fragrant flowers once more, relishing in their sweet scent. You had told him about a little flower shop nearby that you noticed the other day, but you couldn’t bring yourself to buy yourself flowers because it felt a little embarrassing. Since you had a free today, Sangyeon figured it would be the perfect time to buy you some flowers and give them to you.
Anonymously, of course.
As Sangyeon snuck past the teacher’s lounge, he saw your bag on one of the chairs and quickened his steps so that you wouldn’t spot him as he made his way to your classroom. Checking the hallway, Sangyeon entered your classroom as quietly as he could as to not alert any other classes of his presence.
As carefully as he could, Sangyeon closed the door behind him and let out a relieved sigh when it silently shut. Smiling, he turned around to put the flowers on your desk.
Only to be met with the little faces of your entire class.
Sangyeon’s mouth fell open in shock, his eyes widening simultaneously as he realised the situation.
“Teacher Sangyeon,” Emma exclaimed, waving excitedly at him. “What are you doing here?”
“Um, hi class,” Sangyeon greeted awkwardly, making his way towards your desk. “I’m just leaving Teacher Y/n a little surprise, that’s all.”
Minho gasped. “You’re her nice friend that’s leaving her presents!” he realised, pointing his little finger at Sangyeon.
Knowing he was caught, Sangyeon nodded, hurriedly pulling a blue post-it note from his shirt pocket and writing you a little message to go with your flowers. “Yes, I am. But I would really like it if you guys could keep it a secret between us?” he pleaded. “Since I know you guys are so mature and clever.”
He knew that appealing to seven-year-olds’ will to be grown up was a low blow, but he didn’t have much time before you would return to your class.
“Of course,” Sana nodded her head. “We’ll keep your secret. Teacher Y/n is looking for her bag, she’ll be back any minute now!”
Sangyeon thanked her for her warning, giving your students a little wave before he darted out of the classroom and rushed to his own.
That was close. And he was probably screwed.
Tumblr media
“Okay class, thank you so much for being patient,” you exclaimed, entering your classroom with your bag. “I’m sorry I left you guys to grab my bag but I’m so proud of you all being so mature and understanding,” you buttered up your students, feeling guilty for running around school like a mad person trying to find your bag.
“Teacher Y/n!” Minho raised his hand as far in the air as he could. “We know who your nice friend is!”
You froze in place from where you were writing on the whiteboard, knowing exactly who he was talking about. “You do?” you echoed.
“Hey,” Sana cried out. “We’re not supposed to tell!”
That’s interesting. You knew that if whoever your secret admirer was had convinced your class to keep their identity a secret, it meant that your class trusted and respected them.
“I don’t care,” Minho retorted, crossing his arms. “We’re supposed to be Sherlock Holmes and help Teacher Y/n, remember?”
You smiled; those kids were truly too cute.
“Oh,” Sana seemed to be struggling with making up her mind. “Well, I suppose you’re right. We did promise Teacher Y/n first.”
“Was my nice friend here?” you asked, spotting the bouquet of flowers on your desk, accompanied by the usual blue post-it note you received with all your gifts.
“He was,” Minho nodded. “Teacher Sangyeon came while we were waiting for you and he brought your flowers.”
Something fluttered in your stomach, excitement at the revelation of your secret admirer making your heart pound just slightly faster. “He did?” you said, so quietly it was almost a whisper.
“And he wrote you a note with a blue post-it!” Emma added. “We were right! Your nice friend is a teacher.”
You smiled, picturing Sangyeon trying to convince your students to keep his secret. He must have snuck in because he thought I had a free period, you realised. “Well, you guys are very good detectives,” you complimented. “Just like Sherlock Holmes.”
Tumblr media
When you dismissed your students for lunch, you couldn’t help but sit at your desk as they all filed out to admire the flowers. It was a beautiful mixture of white roses, pink peonies, and beautiful green and purple wildflowers. The post-it note must have been more rushed than usual, because it had a simple message that said he hoped you liked the flowers instead of their usual buttery, warm message of encouragement.
No wonder Sangyeon’s handwriting looked so familiar, you thought as you traced the letters on the post-it note with your pointer finger. The loops of his lettering perfectly replicated those that were written on the whiteboard when he helped you with your art class a few weeks ago.
After assigning your students their work for the last class, you couldn’t help your mind from wandering to Sangyeon, and how you should confront him about being your secret admirer. Making up your mind, you got up from your chair and plucked the flowers and post-it note from your desk before exiting your classroom and walking down the hall.
Knocking on the door of Sangyeon’s classroom, you waited patiently for him to greet you at the door. “Y/n,” his eyes lit up when he recognised that it was you. “Come in, you don’t need to knock,” Sangyeon ushered you in, opening to door for you.
“Thanks,” you smiled, stepping inside. “So, I got another gift from my admirer,” you told him, holding up the flowers. “If I can even call them an admirer.”
“Why shouldn’t they admire you,” Sangyeon said with a small shrug, moving to wipe his whiteboard.
“Say,” you began, holding up the post-it note. “This looks a lot like your handwriting.”
Sangyeon dropped the whiteboard eraser with a loud clatter, cursing quietly before apologising for the noise and going to pick it up. “Oh, um, really?” he wondered, panic rising in his chest.
“Really,” you confirmed, making your way next to him and holding up the post-it for you both to compare to the white board. “See? Your lettering is super similar,” you said, as if you didn’t already know that Sangyeon was your secret admirer.
“Huh,” Sangyeon hummed. “Weird.”
“Isn’t it?” you agreed, smiling. “These flowers are beautiful though, aren’t they?”
Feeling nervous, Sangyeon only gave you a weak smile. “As long as you think so
”
“They’re from that little flower shop I was telling you about the other day,” you told him, recognising the name of the shop on the ribbon that held the bouquet together. “Isn’t that ironic? That they got the flowers from there.”
“Well it’s only a few blocks away so I’m sure other people know about it,” Sangyeon retorted, pretending to go through the papers on his desk to act as if his heart wasn’t beating at the sound of a tuba.
“I also got coffee from my favourite cafe, pastries from my favourite bakery, and any piece of stationary that I complained to you about being low on,” you listed off the different gifts you had received.
Sangyeon opened his mouth to retort, but when he lifted his head to meet your eyes, he knew immediately that he had been caught. “You know, don’t you?” Sangyeon mumbled, red flushing the tips of his cheeks and ears.
“Minho ratted you out,” you confessed, not wanting to take credit for figuring it out.
Sangyeon laughed. “Tattle-tale,” he muttered, eyes gleaming with mischief. “So you were just having fun, teasing me as if you were figuring it all out right in front of me?”
“Hey,” you exclaimed. “I figured the handwriting thing out on my own.”
“Really?”
“No. I just connected the dots after Minho told on you,” you admit, shrugging your shoulders. Sangyeon chuckled, picturing your class telling on him as you lean back against his desk. “I’m glad it’s you,” you revealed, making Sangyeon smile shyly at you.
“How come?” he wondered.
“Well, you’re pretty cute,” you teased, earning an eye-roll from Sangyeon. “And you’re just
I don’t know. You’re really special. The way you interact with your students and how you never fail to give up your free time to help me, or keep me company
” you trailed off, noticing how a more serious expression fell across Sangyeon’s face. “Why didn’t you tell me that it’s you?”
“I didn’t know if you wanted it to be me,” Sangyeon said, tucking his hands into his pant pockets. “You’re one of the most loved teachers at this school, by the students and the faculty. You’re funny, and kind, and beautiful, and I thought you were out of reach.”
“I’m not out of reach,” you shook your head, moving closer to the brunet man. “Not at all.”
“And you’re really happy that it’s me?” he wondered.
“Hm,” you pretended to think. “Let me get back to you on that one,” you teased. “Yes Sangyeon, I’m really happy that it’s you.” Sangyeon beamed, pleased with your response. “That’s your cue.”
“My cue?” he asked.
“Yes, your cue,” you emphasised, trailing your hands up his chest to play with his tie. An understanding look filled his eyes and Sangyeon leant down to kiss you, closing his eyes as you felt each other’s breath against your faces.
The door to Sangyeon’s classroom opened noisily.
“Yo, we were just-“ Hyunjae’s shriek cut off Jacob’s words as the pair realised the position that you and Sangyeon were in.
“Guys, you can’t do that during school hours!” Hyunjae exclaimed, looking scandalised. “Jacob, I’ll cover your eyes and you cover mine,” he said dramatically, causing the two of them to flail about in an attempt to cover each other’s eyes with their hands.
You rolled your eyes, releasing Sangyeon’s tie and leaning back with a sigh. Sangyeon gave you a sheepish smile but cast your friends an exasperated look. “You guys are lame,” you accused.
Jacob laughed, releasing Hyunjae. “So you finally figured it out?”
“I wish. Some little tattle-tales told me all about it after catching him,” you motion to Sangyeon.
Hyunjae cackled. “Genius. C’mon, let’s get lunch. I’m starving,” he moved on quickly, uninterested in your new relationship with Sangyeon. “No kissing on school grounds, either. Let’s go,” he cheered, marching out with Jacob in tow.
You laughed, always amused by your coworkers and friends. “Let’s get lunch,” you agreed with Hyunjae, sending Sangyeon a smile.
As you moved away, Sangyeon caught your arm and gently pulled you back. “School hours are over in two periods,” he reminded you with a cheeky smile.
“Dinner?” you offered, earning a nod.
“I’d be crazy not to go,” Sangyeon exaggerated. “You’re paying, though. I’ve bought you enough food and drinks to last at least a few dinner dates,” he winked.
Laughing, you nodded, pulling him out of his classroom by his hand. “It’s a deal.”

as changmin neared the locker room, he heard a bunch of shouts and hoots coming from inside. soon after, a crowd of highschool kids started making their way out of the room, buzzing with energy and excitement. siyeon, who was in the crowd, spotted him and ran towards her favorite uncle.
"uncle changmin!" she shouted, earning a jolt from the clueless guy. when he saw siyeon coming his way, he smiled so wide and opened his arms for her. she jumped into the hug, laughing in happiness.
"that's a lie, you now have all the time in the world to do mom's errands WHICH you can't run away from anymore!"
"okay... maybe but don't think that i'm not dragging you with me to do them!"
you watched changmin and siyeon interact so animatedly from the entrance of the locker room, and you couldn't help but fall even further for the guy who's already stolen your heart. his smile could literally light up the whole world, you truly believed that.
"so i lost to dimples? huh."
"so i lost to dimples? huh."
you turned to meet the owner of the voice. "younghoon i still don't know how to respond to your comments, i love you but also are we really okay?"
your best friend laughed as he slung an arm around your shoulders. "YES we're okaaay it's just funny to see your reactions whenever i make comments about my crush on you!"
"you're sick, you know that? sick in the motherfriking head." you poked his head, younghoon continuing to laugh. "i know, i know."
from his peripheral vision, he saw changmin waving siyeon goodbye and walking towards you. with that, younghoon made it his cue to leave.
"looks like lover boy is coming right this way, so don't feel pressured to come to the lunch! i'll take care of the kids for now, you enjoooy your time." he teased and winked at you. you pretended to gag, mouthing a "what the fuck?" to him as he shrugged and left your side.
once you faced forward, you were met with a very nervous-looking changmin. "congrats y/n! you're the last person i needed to congratulate, i already spoke with younghoon but yea." he said.
"thanks changmin." you gave him a soft smile. he looked extremely anxious and you didn't know what was going through his head, so the both of you just kind of stood there in an awkward silence.
as you were about to end the conversation because where tf was this going to go, changmin cleared his throat. "i know your busy with the team, but can we talk? there's something i actually need to say to you."
"oh, sure! we can talk outside, at least it doesn't smell like chlorine and sweat out there." you commented, trying to lighten the mood. however, changmin didn't respond and just made a beeline towards the entrance of the arena.
you were confused, a little scared even. "what if he didn't want to be friends anymore? what if he was moving away to someplace far? what if he's not actually human? what if-"
"y/n, don't worry! it's nothing of that sort." he chuckled. "holy shit i thought out loud." your face grew beet red, and you stuttered out an apology for how he shouldn't have heard your thoughts.
you two eventually made it outside after an excruciating minute of you fanning the red out of your face and him trying to hold in his laughter at your embarrassment. you found a bench and sat on it, gesturing for him to follow.
as he sat down, he rubbed his hands against his pants, wiping off the nervous sweat that had formed. "okay, y/n i'll need you to listen to me carefully. let me know your thoughts after, alright?" he asked as he turned to face you.
"will do changmin!" you turned to face him too and flashed him an encouraging smile.
changmin was nervous in front of you, but the warmth you exuded from your smile alone was enough to give him the confidence to just think fuck it and tell you what he's been meaning to tell you for a while now.
"y/n the way we met, it was so, how do i put this... out of the blue? i mean, who expects to be punched during work duty and be pushed into the pool for literally standing there?"
you laughed at this, recalling the memory of how messed up your first and second meetings were.
"okay, i admit the second time was partly my fault, but still! it's crazy to tell people 'yea i met them in a haunted house where i was the scarer they punched'! but honestly, it's a much more interesting story than all the other 'how did you meet?' stories out there."
you nodded in agreement.
"when i met you the third time, you as siyeon's coach and me as her uncle, not gonna lie i wasn't the happiest about that. i'm sure you knew that too. but we kept meeting and meeting again under the most unexpected circumstances, and eventually i just thought 'maybe they're meant to be in my life, one way or another.'"
"we started talking more and hanging out, and soon i started looking forward to every time we talked and, well, hung out. i mean, you made even the boring things seem fun! that time i was studying for that dance theory test? all you did was ask the dumbest questions and i was already on the floor laughing my ass off!"
you wanted to protest about how your questions were NOT dumb, but changmin stopped you.
"i'm sorry, yes your questions were not dumb, i was just kidding." he patted your head, smiling affectionately at you. you rolled your eyes, however a smile similar to his soon made its way to your face too.
seeing you look at him with so much love in your eyes made something in his mind click and suddenly, his thoughts have never been clearer.
his heart's never been happier.
he didn't just like you. you meant so much more to him, and he knew you needed to know.
"what i'm trying to say is: home is somewhere i feel happy in, where i feel comforted, where i feel loved. and if being with you makes me feel those things, then y/n you are my home. and i hope you feel the same way, because i love you."
changmin exhaled as if he was holding his breath the entire time. he looked at you expectantly, waiting for your answer.
you, on the other hand, was shocked. just plain shocked, and you didn't know what to do, how to react, or what to even say.
the guy who'd stolen your heart had just admitted that you've stolen his heart too, so how the fuck do you respond to that.
after you had stayed silent for 13, 14, 15 seconds (yes, changmin was counting), he lost all hope. sighing, he looked down at his hands. "i'm sorry for putting this all on you, i knew it was a stupid idea, i'm sorry-"
you cupped changmin's cheeks to stop him from talking. he looked up, meeting your glassy eyes. you slowly neared his face until you were inches apart, and whispered your reply.
"i love you too, dumbass."
you closed the distance, lips meeting his as you kissed him slowly, sweetly. he smiled into the kiss, holding you as if you could disappear between his fingers.
it was a very romantic moment that unfortunately didn't last very long, because shortly after a bird landed on changmin's head causing him to scream, you to scream, and the bird to go number 2 on his head.
but oh well, everything about your relationship was so out of the blue anyways, right?

Okay I’ve been recently getting super into Karl’s streams because I just adore his puppy energy but, hear me out here.
Reader and Karl are friends right? And she goes and hangs out with him a lot and eventually one Saturday she convinces her BF, Techno, to come with her. He follows, mostly cause he’s bored and she’s persistent, they get to Karl’s place, Reader knowing instantly what to do gets up near Karl, grabs something Techno can’t see from where he’s standing, spins and belts out a song for Karl’s Karaoke. (The song playing in my ears right now is Talk Too Much)
Cue Technos surprise as he hears his s/o sing for the first time, grinning like a maniac. Reader tries to get him into it but he refuses until he watches Karl and Reader do a duet together (they’re best friends your honor) cause no one else would duet with him and he just gets up very bored my, lumbers over and snatches the microphone from Karl and does some soft deep number. Nothing energetic it’s gotta be deep and soft. (First thought is resting on Achilles Come Down)
After the singular song he doesn’t get up to sing again and you think he’s hated the whole experience but next Saturday you find him by the door ready to go with a bag in his hand. It isn’t til halfway through the time when he does his weird standing up, snatching the microphone from whoever was singing, setting it back in its stand and grabbing his bag before Reader realizes he brought a fuckin violin. Tommy or maybe Ghostbur get jazzed because “I REMEMBER WHEN MY BROTHER PLAYED THAT” and just-
GOOD SHIT!!!
With love- đŸŒ»
Holy shit đŸŒ» you have my entire heart. This is so amazing. So so poggers. (Also, this is the only post for tonight! Hope you enjoy!!)
So yes, you and Karl are best friends and you two hang out a lot. But as more and more things happen on the SMP, you find yourselves spending less and less time together, which makes you sad. So as a compromise, you two decide that the two of you would hang out every Saturday night. No exceptions, no excuses, Saturday is for Y/N and Karl. And it works very well with you guys, sometimes you have dinner and talk or you play games and yes sometimes even karaoke. Even when you and Techno got together and he, Sapnap, and Quackity got together, you two never missed a Saturday. Sometimes though, Sapnap and Quackity tag along which is just fine with you. And if you could convince Techno (you never could but just in case haha), Karl would be fine with that. But everytime you ask Techno, he says no, he doesn’t want to intrude and he doesn’t really want to do some of the things you two do.
But that all changes on fateful Saturday. Techno had been gone for a majority of the week and had only gotten home in the early afternoon of the Saturday. You two had been cuddled up in bed, just cuddling, kissing, and catching up because you’d missed each other so much all week. But it gets to be that time and you try to leave your bed, but Techno has an iron grip on you. “Tech, babe, I’ve got to go” you whisper, pressing a few kisses to his face before landing one on his lips and smiling at him. Techno only pouts at you, “No you don’t. I just got home. You could stay here with me.” he grumbles, attempting to pull you closer to him, but you don’t let him. “I know baby, but you know Saturdays are spent with Karl
If you want you can come with, Sapnap and Quackity will be there so it won’t be awkward. We can have a fun time. My best friend and his s/os and me and my s/o. It will be fun, come on baby,” you murmur, running your hair through his pink locks causing him to sigh. He pretends to think for a moment before giving you a nod. You smile at him before easily weaseling your way out of his grip, pulling him with you. He steadies himself on his feet as you reach up and press a kiss to his lips before bouncing out of the room. “Come on baby, we’re going to be late.”
The two of you leave the house and make your way to Karl’s house. You throw open the front door without second thought, “Karl! We’re here!” There’s a bit of noise from further in the house before Karl calls back, “We’re??” you can’t help but laugh as you shut the door behind you and Techno before pulling Techno arm along with you as you move to where Karl’s voice was coming from. You make your way into the living room and find Karl hunched over what you know to be the karaoke machine and Sapnap and Quackity curled up together on the couch. “Yeah, we’re” you answer from the doorway causing all three men’s gazes to snap to you two. A huge smile grazes Karl's face at the sight of you two, Quackity gets a little nervous but is quickly comforted by Sapnap’s smile and a quick kiss. “Hey Techno! It’s great to see you!” Karl, ever the charmer and the kind heart, greets your boyfriend. Your boyfriend gives the man a small wave, “Hey Karl
 Sapnap

.. Quackity.” The other two give the pink headed man a small smile and wave before turning their attention back to Karl. You pull Techno around the side of the couch and usher him to sit down and before you can sit next to him, Karl has grabbed your arm and pulled you to the machine. “Karl, I wanted to sit and relax with Techno for a moment,” you complain to your best friend. Karl just grins at you and shoves a microphone in your hand as music begins to play. You roll your eyes at how well your best friend knows you and he moves to sit next to his fiances. With all eyes on you, you decide to have fun. You belt out the lyrics and dance around just having fun. (This is the song! Talk Too Much by COIN!). Every once in a while one of the fiances would let out a cheer, edging you on. Techno though would just be staring at you with wide eyes, he had never heard you sing before, well maybe once but never this carefree.
The four of them clap in excitement after you finish and then bound over to the couch. Once again, you move to sit next to Techno, but are instead this time pulled down onto his lap with your back pressing against his chest and burying his face into the place where your neck meets your shoulder. “I didn’t know you could sing like that” he murmurs into the skin. You can’t help but melt a little bit as you relax further into him. “It’s just something we do for fun sometimes.” you murmur in response, your eyes watching as Karl stands up and picks out a song for himself to sing. “It was nice” That was the last words before Karl began his own song.
The two of you watched as each of the fiances sang their own solo. “Do you want to sing something?” You murmur, leaning back and turning your head slightly to talk to your boyfriend. Techno let out a huff and tightened his arms around you for a moment, “No” he answers simply as Sapnap and Quackity step up to the mic. The three of you watch Sap and Quack do a very cheesy duet together causing you and Karl to laugh loudly and Techno to hide his chuckles in your shoulder. When the two were done, they were pouting. “Hey! Stop laughing at us!” “Yeah we sang a very serious duet together” And when neither of you stop laughing Sapnap and Quackity plop down on the couch and fold in to each other, “Fine, see if either of us sing a duet with you Karl” Sapnap juts out, poking his tongue as his fiance. Karl immediately stops laughing and begins to beg his lovers to sing with him, but the two don’t budge. So Karl does the next best thing he can think to do. He turns to you with a wide pout on his lips and puppy dog eyes, and who are you to say no to your puppy dog eyed best friend? You let out a sigh before carefully removing yourself from Techno’s arms, despite the grumbles of protest, and join your best friend by the machine to sing a duet with him. Karl wouldn’t let you see what he picked but as soon as the music began, you almost lost it. Of course he would pick this song. It is not only about two “best friends” it is definitely bound to make his two fiances just a bit jealous. (It is the Bro Duet haha. Find it here)
The two of you goofed around and sang your hearts out, changing every “no homo” to “no hetero” Karl sang the first part and you sang the second. Throughout the song, Sap and Quack, although amused, were admittedly a little jealous, that should be them up there singing about how much they love each other. Techno on the other end of the couch was a little confused and a little jealous. He couldn’t help but wonder to himself if this had actually happened. Had you and Karl one time gone to the beach and you had to give Karl CPR? Had you gone to an amusement park and started choking on a turkey leg and Karl gave you the hymlick? Had the two of you fallen in love with each other? What the hell was happening? Toward the end of the song, Techno found himself standing up from the couch and walking toward you two. It surprised you, because Techno had literally told you he did not want to sing. But here he was, grabbing the microphone from you
in the middle of a song no less. Karl and you stopped singing as you stared at Techno who now held the microphone close to his chest. Almost as if reading his mind, you took a step forward and gently cupped his face, “It didn’t actually happen Techno. It’s just a song.” You comfort your boyfriend. Techno’s shoulders did a big relax at your words. “Sorry” he grumbles out, “Didn’t mean to interrupt your song.” You can only give him a warm smile at that. “It’s okay lover. Do you want to sing something now?” And to your surprise, Techno walks over to the machine and begins looking through the song choices. So you and Karl share a look before making your way back to the couch and sitting down. Karl was immediately engulfed in a huge hug by his fiance’s while you curled into the still warm spot that was Techno’s. Soft cello music rang from the machine as Techno awkwardly stood in front of you four, his eyes dancing around the room. Techno took a deep breath before his beautiful bass voice rings out into the room. His voice completely encaptures the four of you sitting on the couch and not even Quackity is making a single noise. Techno sings a beautiful rendition of Achilles Come Down, it quite literally brings tears to your eyes. But once he’s done and the song is over, Techno sets his microphone down and immediately walks over to the couch and sits down next to you, wrapping an arm around you and pulling you close to him. You try to tell him how good it was, but he kisses you to stop you. Later that night when you two go home, you try once again to tell him how amazed and impressed you were at his song, but he brushes your compliments off and kisses you again before cuddling you to sleep. And so, you figure he absolutely hated it and never wanted to do anything like it again.
So the next Saturday, you know is another karaoke night and this time Karl had invited the whole SMP to come. You were fine with it and you knew not everyone would show up. So when it was time to go, you looked everywhere in the house for Techno so that you could tell him goodbye but you could not find him. You were about to just leave when you hear your name being called from the front door. You rush to the door and find Techno standing there with a bag in his hand. “There you are. Are you ready to go?” Deciding not to question it, you give your boyfriend a smile and a nod before the two of you head out for Karl’s. When you arrive, there are quite a few people there, but not it’s definitely not everyone. You quickly find Karl and greet him with hugs before helping him get completely set up for the night. Techno hovers around you two, not really helping but not wanting to go around and socialize. Eventually he spots Philza and leaves your side briefly to greet his father.
Finally everything is set up and ready to go. So Karl calls out to everyone to please take their seats, it’s go time. I would like to say that you go first and sing another fun and upbeat song to get everyone hyped. (I do not have one in mind for this time) But it’s great and a total banger, we stan. So then when you’re done, everyone claps politely and Karl moves to take your place. So you bound over to Techno and sit on his lap. One after another, people went up and chose a song and sang their heart out. You don’t expect Techno to get up and sing. You thought he hated it last time so why would he do it again? But he surprises you, of course haha. But after listening to Quackity screech out a song that you honestly cannot tell what it was because of how much he was joking around and not actually trying his best to sing, Techno had had enough. He carefully moves you off of him, grabs his bag, and moves to the front of the room, snatching the mic out of Quackity’s hand. “Hey! I wasn’t done singing!” Quackity protests, reaching for the mic again. “I was done listening
we are all done listening” Techno shoots back. Quackity glances around the room, lets out a sigh, before shuffling over to his fiances and curling into their arms. Techno very quickly turns off the music and a sigh of relief sweeps over Karl’s living room, which makes you snicker behind your hand. You’re surprised when Techno doesn’t pick another song from the machine, but instead he opens his bag and pulls out a violin. You haven’t seen him play that violin in so long and it melts your heart to see him pull it out and bring it up to his chin. You watch in awe as he brings his bow to the strings and begins to play so beautifully. “Oh I remember when my brother played the violin! He was always so good at it! We used to play together all the time. He on violin, me on guitar
It was amazing,” you hear Ghostbur exclaim from somewhere else in the room. And he’s right, it is amazing. It’s even more amazing when Techno opens his mouth and lets his beautiful bass voice ring out into the room. It’s really truly an amazing thing to see. Techno not only playing the violin, but also singing. The room is dead silent and all attention is on Techno as he sings about his time as king, as the Blood God. Please find the violin cover here and the song he’s singing here. Song is Fallen Kingdom
. Yes that fallen kingdom hahahah).
When he’s done, the room is so silent you could hear a pin drop. Techno glances around the room in a panic and you can see his face flushes. You know the voices are going crazy, trying to convince him that he just fucked up and everyone hated it and hated him. So you slowly stand from your seat and begin clapping. Heads snap to you as you clap. Philza quickly joins you, standing up and clapping. Slowly everyone joins you, and then everyone at once. Techno gets a standing ovation from the crowd. This makes his blush even harder and he quickly takes the violin off his shoulder and puts it back into the bag. You don’t let him get off the makeshift stage though, you quickly walk up to him, grab his now empty hands causing him to freeze and look at you. You just simply leaned up and pressed a sweet kiss to his lips. “That was amazing Techno” you mumble against him. He hums in response, kissing you back. “Oh it was nothing” he murmurs back. After a few more moments, the two of you pull apart and you give him a small smile, “sing a duet with me?” you ask him as the applause dies down. Techno looks hesitant, but one quick glance around the room at the encouraging smiles, he decides one more song couldn’t hurt. He lets you pick out the song and his heart almost melts at the choice. (Here is the song. It is Come What May from moulin rouge). Your voices meld so well together and it doesn’t leave a single dry eye in the house. Again, once you’re finished the room is roaring with applause. Literally everyone is crying. Like it’s so obvious you two love each other and that you two mean the words you’re singing in the song. You two end the song with another very passionate kiss as everyone claps so hard they’re all sure their palms will be red and sore the next morning. You and Techno pull apart and you have matching grins on your faces as you set down your mics and move back to the couch to cuddle again. It takes a hot minute for anyone to step up to the machine, not wanting to follow that amazing performance, but slowly Karaoke night gets back on track. Neither of you two get up to sing again though. You’re just content to sit in your boyfriend’s lap and he’s just content to hold you. As you snuggle into him, Techno thinks over the past two Saturdays and he decides quietly to himself that maybe spending Saturdays with you and the fiances wouldn’t be so bad
I mean he actually had fun. He deserves to have a bit of fun every once in a while.

warnings - smut this is all literally smut
part one - part three
It was St. Patrick’s day in Boston, and Nolan was hoping that a second round of luck was on its way. Nolan hadn’t seen much of you since you left to go home a few days after that night. You were living in his head rent fucking free, and it was unfair. It was unfair that he got to see every thirst trap you posted on Instagram, but he’d be damned if he thought about liking it. It was unfair that you were definitely Kevin’s favorite sibling and he talked about you all time. It was unfair he had to watch Kevin make out with some chick while he couldn’t do anything about you across the bar. And it was beyond cruel that you were shaking your ass with your roommates in a too big Celtics jersey and Nolan couldn’t do anything to ward off the dudes who had their eyes on you. His grip on his beer tightened, knuckles white and anger coursing through his veins while you rejected the like fifth guy that night.
“Hey dude, keep an eye on her okay?” Kevin asks, snapping Nolan out of his thoughts while he got ready to head out with his friend in tow. The Flyers had played a hard fought afternoon game against the Bruins, and with a day off promised the next day Nolan was sure it was going to be a late night, “I’m serious Patty, she’s two tequila shots with TK away from a mess.”
“I think I can handle your sister,” Nolan scoffs, eager to get Kevin the fuck out of that bar so he could talk to you for more than five minutes. He watched Kevin leave, turning his attention to you and smiling when he saw you laughing with your friends.
“Boston in Boston? It’s like seeing you in your natural habitat,” Nolan jokes, a hand landing on your lower back. You laugh, throwing your head and wrapping your arms around Nolan’s waist. You looked around, your brother was nowhere to be seen and you thought the coast was clear, “He’s gone.”
“Do I want to know?” You ask, scrunching up your nose knowing damn well why your brother left early. Nolan shook his head, sparing you the details and smirking at you, “And what about you Patty? Chasing a girl out of here too?”
“Unless it’s you,” Nolan husks in your ear, his deep voice sent shivers down your spine, a calloused finger slipping over the basketball jersey you stole from one of your brothers, “We had so much fun last time.”
You did have fun. You were sad and Nolan was making you feel infinitely better. Now some time has passed, the wounds on your heart healing and single life was good. Nolan’s eyes were staring into yours, holding your gaze while you decided what to do. On one hand, one time was one thing but twice was another. How long could you fuck around with Nolan before Kevin caught on? Probably a while given your brother wasn’t always the brightest, but he’d figure it out eventually.
“Take me home Nolan,” You breathe, sliding out of your phone and ordering the quickest Uber you could to your place. Nolan was grinning, hands wrapped around your waist when you were finally free from the eyes of his teammates.
Your apartment was the complete opposite of Kevin’s. Nolan’s eyes scanned over the art prints and pictures of your family that decorated the walls, his eyes scanning the titles that lined up against your record player. Maybe you had more in common than Nolan thought. He’d overthink it later, because your lips were on his neck and your fingers were toying with his zipper and if he didn’t find a release soon he’d lose it. You were the best he’s had, Nolan spent countless nights alone using that night to get himself off. You got him off. You were irresistible, and it was going to get Nolan in trouble.
Your fingers unhooked Nolan’s jeans, pulling the zipper and going down with it. Nolan groans, tilting your chin up to look at him, his finger ran across your lip. You took it into your mouth, Nolan’s eyes practically rolling to the back of his head, “You’re trouble.”
“Haven’t you heard, I’ve never done anything wrong in my life?” You muse, pulling Nolan’s boxers down, springing his cock free. Nolan had heard all about it, Kevin’s perfect baby sister, who was smarter than anyone he knew and had a heart of gold. You were perfect but it was more about how good your mouth looked when you took his cock into your mouth and less about what your brother thought. Your fingers were tracing his thigh tattoos, your mouth popping off his dick and your attention on those, “I like these.”
“Me too, but if you could maybe,” Nolan whines, an actual plea to get your mouth back where he needed it most. His hands were in your hair, and if he didn’t think you’d smack the shit out of him he would’ve moved your head himself.
“Like this?” You press a kiss to the tip of his dick, letting your mouth hover just above it. You bat your eyelashes, watching the way Nolan’s face was getting redder the more you egged him now. You lick the underside of his cock, tracing a vein as slowly as you could, “Or like this?”
“If you don’t start being a good girl I’m not going to let you cum,” Nolan growls, his voice deep and raspy, a chill running up your spine. You rub your thighs together, Nolan’s voice was fucking delicious. You take him into your mouth, bobbing your head while Nolan hit the back of your throat, “Fuck, can I-”
You nod, feeling Nolan’s dick twitch in your mouth and his cum hit the back of your throat, he let out a groan. You swallow as much as you could, finally take your mouth off Nolan’s cock and let the rest spill down your chin. Nolan slides his thumb across your jaw, picking up his cum and pushing it into your mouth, groaning when you happily obliged, “Do I get to cum now?”
Nolan chuckles, lacing his fingers with yours and letting you drag him into your bedroom. You tossed the jersey, sliding off your jeans and leaving yourself in the matching black lace set you were grateful you chose to wear, “Look at you.”
“You’re so fucking sexy.”
“All of this for me?”
“I’m going to ruin you.”
Nolan’s words were pressed against your skin while he took his time with you, running his hands all over your body. His hands grip your thighs, turning you around, “Get on your knees for me.”
You nod, biting your lip when you could feel Nolan’s breath fanning your pussy, his finger slips under your panties, sliding them down pressing kisses to your ass, “Nolan enough teasing.”
You were whining, whimpering when Nolan’s hand came in contact with your ass, his tongue was flat against your pussy, teasing even more, “I said good girl.”
A finger slid inside you, and you let out a moan that was embarrassingly loud, Nolan’s name slipping from your lips while you begged for more. You needed to get off, so worked up past the point of no return. Nolan slid in a second finger, curling his fingers inside you and pressing a kiss dangerously close to your asshole, “You can Nols.”
You were his dream girl, that’s it, you were Nolan Patrick’s dream girl and he couldn’t have you. He groans against your skin, his tongue rimming your hole and pushing his fingers inside your pussy faster. You were soaked, clenching around Nolan’s fingers and letting out a scream. You fish out a condom from your nightstand, tossing it to Nolan and muttering something under your breath, “What was that Boston?”
“Want you inside me,” You breathe you, shaking your ass in front of Nolan because you wanted him so badly. Nolan’s eyes went darker, rolling on the condom and slipping inside of you. He gave just a second to adjust before his hands were on your hips and he was pushing you into your mattress, “Fuck, I missed your cock.”
“Yeah?” Nolan muses, his pace steady while you fall apart underneath him, “I’m only the person who makes you feel like this huh?”
“Yes, fuck, Nolan I’m going to cum again,” You pussy tightened around Nolan’s cock, pulling his second high out of him and into the condom.
You finally fell onto the bed, fucked into oblivion. The grip you had on your sheets was released, Nolan admiring you below him. Slow breaths escaped your lips, your eyes closing and opening from how tired you were, “We’re never going to be able to stop doing this are we?”
“I think we’re going to have to do this a few more times,” You agree, poking one eye open while Nolan tossed you a t-shirt from your dresser, “I’ll be back in Philly soon.”
“Really?” Nolan smiles, kissing your head while he got himself dressed. He didn’t want to leave, another time where he wanted to hold you and press his lips against all the spots he marked on you, but getting caught wasn’t an option.
“I have a Grad School interview at UPenn,” You muse, sliding on the t-shirt and tucking yourself into bed, “It’s not a big deal-”
“Sounds like a pretty big deal,” Nolan disagrees, hoping he could steal you for a night away from your brother. He took one more look at you, biting his lip and thinking about just saying fuck it and staying but he knew he just couldn’t, “See you then Boston.”
Nolan heard one protest about how you hated that nickname, laughing to himself and throwing on the hoodie he thought was his. It was dark, and before Nolan could catch his mistake he was sporting a Boston College hoodie while he left your place - hoping there wasn’t a chance he’d run into Kevin. He made it to his hotel room without seeing anyone, a throat clearing when he finally got into his room. Travis’s voice echoed through the room.
“Is that Kevin’s? What is he dressing you now?”

Sick Day - Batfam x Fem!Reader
Synopsis : It’s never fun to be sick. Duh. But when  you have loving parents there to take care of you, maybe it isn’t so bad ? Just short little snippets of the first time each Batkids fell ill in Wayne Manor, and how Bruce and his wife (you :D) dealt with it.
Another “burst of the moment inspiration” story, just a little drabble. Promise I’ll post something more elaborate soon :), hope you’ll like it :
My master list blog : @ella-ravenwood-archives

Tumblr media
(Thanks to that anon who mentioned the kids getting shots, that gave me with this an idea on how to start this fic :D. The original beginning was different, I think I like that one better hehe.)
"Mister Wayne, if you keep doing this, I'm not going to be able to give your son-Bruce for god's sake !"
Leslie Thompkins, for the first time in her long career, was about to lose her patience and give up on...giving a simple shot to a baby.
She has seen worried parents before, of course. The one that clung to their child’s hand, or those who would cry because their little one was in pain

Babies that young, who had to get vaccinated for the first time, never really experienced this sort of quick pain before.
A lot of them would cry more out of surprise than because it really hurt. Oh and when the parents were extra worried, you could be sure the baby was even more likely to burst into tears, sensing his parents' distress.
Yes. doctor Thompkins gave shots to a LOT of babies, and saw a LOT of worried parents before
But never had she met someone quite like Bruce Wayne.
He always came to her when his kids were sick. He could go to a fancier office, or to one of those pricy fancy private hospitals. But no.
No because, when it came to his kids’ health, there was no one he trusted more than Doctor Leslie Thompkins.
So it was no surprise when he brought his youngest son, Thomas, to get his first shot ever. What was a surprise though, was his reaction.
"And now you know why I'm always the only one in the room when this happens."
You say, smiling apologetically to the doctor. But ah, at least your husband's reaction eased a little the tension in your body brought by the mere idea of your baby being hurt.
Every single time Leslie got the syringe close to your little one, Bruce would reflexively grab her wrist and stop her from giving the shot to his son.
Ridiculous, really.
But it seemed it was something he couldn't fight.
He apologized the first time he did it, as Dr Thompskins smiled and said it was ok, rather amused. But then the second time, it was getting clear he didn't seem to quite control himself. At the third time Bruce was visibly sweating. Dr Thompkins finally snapped as she tried for a fourth and fifth time to give a shot to little Thomas (who, at barely 2 months old, was much too young to even understand what was happening, but by his little smiles it was clear he was happy every time his father would come into his vision).
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I just
I thought I could do it, but I can't."
And oh. Oh it's adorable the way he turns to you, his eyes saying "I'm sorry" as he takes his son back in his arms and holds him against his chest. You weren’t sure if it was to comfort little Tommy, or if he was comforting himself.
"I think I should just let you two handle this ?" He asks, unsure. He doesn’t want you to be mad or to think he’s abandoning you.
"I think this is a good idea Bruce, yes."
You smile at him reassuringly. It’s fine. It was always fine.
"I'm sorry, sorry I'm letting you do this alone once again. I just can't
"
"Oh it's ok my Broosh, I know you hate shots. I can handle it, and little buddy here sure can too."
Thomas coos happily as you pick him up delicately from his father's arms. Bruce resists a bit, before finally giving in and letting you take hold of the little one.
He lays a hand on his son's head, looking fondly at him (of this look he only gives his children, of this pure look full of unconditional love, and a hint of “what did I do to deserve this sort of happiness ?”) and then sighs, press a soft kiss to your forehead, murmuring a last “I’m sorry, my love” and leaves the room.
He feels a little ashamed to let you do this once again, but you've always been the strongest one out of the two. After all, you willingly decided to marry a man like him

"Alright Mrs Wayne, ready ? And here we-oh not you too (Y/N) !"
"I'm sorry I'm sorry, I don't know what took over me, it was just a reflex too !"
You apologize, as you let go of the doctor's wrist

Yeah, it was just a gut reaction to seeing a scary needle approaching your baby's thigh. In your line of um, nightly work, you came to be very wary, of syringes. You still remember vividly that time Tim got hit with one of Scarecrows’ needle, and how terrible this night had been...
"Ok ok, now is fine. Go. I'm ready. Go fast though, now. Now I’m not looking. Go. Go. Go."
Tears welling up in your eyes at the mere thought of this happening, you look away as you hold your son still (something he doesn't like as clearly shown by his little sound of protest, and as he starts to fuss about), and in one, two seconds
it's done.
And not a peep from your son.
He just stopped making any sound (he've always been rather vocal), his eyes went wide, and he made a face that looked like he wasn’t sure if he was supposed to cry or not. Then there’s one more second, and Leslie had a soothing bandaid on his little leg, and you were holding him against your heart, and the pain was so fleeting and already gone, that he just gets over it quickly, feeling your love.
Calming down instantly, not noticing the tears in your eyes (thank god, or it’d be a sure way to make him weep too).
And so he doesn't cry. And everything is ok again.
“Well, that wasn’t so hard, was it ?”
“Actually, it was.”
You say, barely holding your tears in, your son cooing in your arms
“Um...I was talking to Thomas.”
Leslie answers, amused. And just like that, you both burst into laughter.
After a few minutes of this uncontrollable fit of giggles, you thank Leslie for her help, and leave the room, joining your husband who had been walking back and forth in the waiting room, nervous.
He comes immediately to you and Thomas, and as soon as the boy sees his dad he smiles widely and giggles. Bruce gives him a soft smile, before turning to you :
“How was it ?”
“For me ? Not great. For Tommy ? He didn’t even utter a sound. Our little guy is brave !”
You kiss your son on his forehead, and he giggles and coos even more. There’s a short silence, before Bruce says :
“I’m sorry...”
And then he takes you in his arms, sandwiching little Thomas who’s protesting a bit. Damn, his parents could be so clingy !
“It’s ok my Broosh, I already told you. It’s ok.”
You sort of knew since you stepped into the doctor’s room that you’d end up being the one having to hold your boy anyway.
You knew oh too well how squeamish he was whenever HE had to get a shot done (and oh who would’ve thought the big bad bat hated getting shots so much uh ? You were pretty sure he would rather getting actually shot than take a tiny needle in his arm any day of the week...Alfred always had to fight with him to inject anesthesia when treating him for wounds). It was actually sort of a requirement, that you’d be next to him to give him your hand when he absolutely had to get a shot.
So understandably so, he always skipped on his children’s vaccins. He just couldn’t bear to see anyone he cared for to get that very things he hated so much, it just made him feel ill.
And you’ve always been fine with this. Since that very first day when you took Dick there...But Bruce always felt bad.
Because whenever you’d get out of the doctor’s office, you’d have fresh tears in your eyes, because you were just too pure for this world (is what Damian would say).
Dick always took advantage of this. He was never really scared of shots, and thought they didn’t really hurt...But oh, oh he would always cry a river of crocodile tears just so he’d get extra cuddles and ice cream.
And then, that cheeky little bugger passed that knowledge of “when we get shots, or we get sick, the parents literally let us do WHATEVER we want !” to his little siblings (you were actually pretty sure your kids would pass secret ways to manipulate you and Bruce along to their younger siblings and..you were oddly fine with it. You loved those kids too much to care, really).
This thought reminded you of that very first time Dick fell sick, shortly after you and Bruce officially adopted him.
And how much you guys freaked out.
It was both a pleasant, and terrible memory.
And oh. Oh you already dreaded the day Thomas would have his first real fever...You still remembered how it happened, with all your other children.
“What is it ?” Bruce asks, always knowing when something was on your mind. And so you say : “Nothing bad, this just reminds me of when Dick got sick for the first time while with us...”
A light of recognition ignited in Bruce’s eyes, he knew exactly what you were talking about.
Bruce only had fond memories of when he was sick and his mom and dad would take care of him.
He thought they were the best, wether they’d hold a “barf-bucket” for him, or stay up all night because he was too feverish...
What he never realized though, is that having a sick child was actually absolutely terrifying ! Bruce often felt sick himself, when the kids were ill.....ah, but nothing ever beats those first time each of them got sick.
DICK
Dick wasn't as young as Thomas, when he first came into your life. None of them were. But he was still a cute little bean, your baby.
Eight years old, and oh so sweet and nice and cute and you could just squish his little cheeks all day (albeit from the few outburst of anger at times, but hey, he was but a child, every kid throw tantrum from times to times).
He had been living with you and Bruce in the Manor for the past six months, when you had your first fright, and realized that being a parent meant being worried about your kid's well being for the rest of your days
Dick was definitely a tiny kid when he came in your life. He was rather short, only having a growth spurt when he was around 14/15. Barbara Gordon used to tease him to no end about this, up until he finally caught up with her and ended up being taller.
But yes, his small stature for his age, maybe made you baby him even more than the others, sometimes.
Ah. That first time little Dick Grayson was sick at Wayne Manor.
You. Freaked. The. Fuck. OUT.
You and Bruce, both.
Coincidentally, Dick became ill ON THE ONLY FEW DAYS OFF ALFRED WOULD TAKE A YEAR !!
Every year, for a theater festival, Alfred would take off to his homeland, to England, in London to be exact, for but a few days.
The three of you were in the batcave. Bruce was getting ready to go out, while you were on the bat computer and Dick was training on the side, doing some acrobatics on the trampoline Bruce installed.
And then he came to you, pulling on your sleeve, and he was so pale...
“I don’t feel too well.”
He said, right before throwing up for a few way too long seconds, as tears welled up in his eyes...it was never nice to throw up, and once again, no matter how mature he acted, you were reminded that Dick was but an eight year old child.
But he wasn’t only crying because throwing up fucking sucked. He was also crying because he thought you were going to be mad at him.
You reassured him, as you cleaned his little face up, and Bruce (who looked quite green himself...later on, you’d discover than when his kids or you were sick, he felt sick too...quite a strong reaction, really) carried him upstairs.
You were frantically googling how to take care of a sick child, as Bruce stayed with Dick, holding a bark bucket to his face, and drawing soothing circles on his back with his hand.
The panic dumbed the both of you down. It seemed like you couldn’t think, as you tried to make Dick as comfortable as he could.
You could feel your anxiety blowing through the roof, and knew that Bruce was close to have a panic attack himself (he was prone to them, although you and Alfred were the only one who knew).
You didn’t know what was worst, the fact he was sick and had no idea what you were supposed to do, or how much Dick was sobbing and apologizing.
“Should we call Dr. Thompkins ?”
“I don’t know her number, Alfred is the one that calls usually...”
“Should we take him there then ?”
“I don’t know, Alfred is-”
This went on for a little bit, as Dick was throwing up and crying. Saying “sorry !” every two seconds. But...Instinctively, Bruce was trying to soothe him with those warm pats on his back. And you were caressing his hair, empathetic. And...
You decided to not go to the doctor today, Dick was sick, but not sick enough to take him to an emergency. And in Gotham ? Leslie was needed for a lot, especially in evenings like this.
“Alfred um, gives me flat soda when I have a stomach ache ?”
“On it !”
You say, bolting on your feet and running to the kitchen, taking a cola and opening it up. Meanwhile, Dick’s fit calmed down, and he seemed to instantly feel better as he probably threw everything he needed to up...
He seemed content, cuddling against Bruce as the man was softly patting his back in small circles, and using his other hand to hold his head delicately.
You and Bruce were definitely not experienced parents yet, and it showed.
It showed by those first few minutes of utter panic, as your child got suddenly sick. And it showed as how you instantly just thought of calling Alfred...
That day, you both realized though, that you couldn’t always rely on the butler when it came to raising your son. For situations exactly like that one.
Both you and Bruce were still young, and scared to make mistakes but..You had to try. And you had to keep a cool head. Your motherly instinct kicked in.
It was so odd, seeing the big bad bat, wearing his costume without the cowl on (he didn’t have time to take it off as he rushed upstairs with the boy in his arms), looking so worried...
Bruce was so pale, and you could see that in a way, he felt his son’s pain too...Which just made your head click, and take action.
“Ok, ok we can do this. Keep the barf bucket close, let’s wait for the soda to get flat, and um...let’s try to distract him. A movie, perhaps ?”
Dick nodded, and although he wasn’t throwing up anymore, he seemed too weak to stand up (or maybe he was faking, could be, honestly, with that one...doesn’t matter) so Bruce carried him again.
And it was a sight. Bruce was a tall man. And Dick was a very small kid.
It was cute. and in that moment...In that moment it felt like you both suddenly realized what it meant, to be a parent.
Bruce, holding his son in his arms, feeling the little one’s heartbeat and slowed breath as he was kinda nodding off...was this how his own father felt, when holding him ? It was nice. It was a surge of pure love, and knowing that he would die for that kid if he had to. Hell, he would burn the whole world, for that kid.
It was so odd. The situation wasn’t that crazy, Dick probably just ate something bad, and with the trampoline and all the jumping around...he got sick.
As a child, you had those rapid sick moments of having a bad stomach ache, which would turn into throwing up, to then feel better. Those sudden moments when your own parents would take care of you...
Ah. You hadn’t realized how much worry being a parent would bring. Bruce didn’t either. You guys adopting Dick felt like an obvious thing to do. Felt like it was meant to be...
But it wasn’t just yet, that you felt like a mom. Or a dad.
It took some time to build. Just like it took time for Dick to call you “mom” and “dad”. And in that moment, as your kid (yes, your kid) was sick, that was it...
Finally. Yes. That was it.
You were a mom.
Bruce was a dad.
Dick was your son.
Of course you panicked as he suddenly got sick. But now, it was in your hand to properly take care of him. And thus started the first ritual you’d ever make with one of your children.
Dick, when sick, liked chicken noodle soups. Made by you. He liked cuddles, up until he turned 12 or 13, then he acted as if he was too grown up for them. This eventually stopped when he turned 19, not long after Jason’s death...He regressed back to a little boy in some ways, and needed you. And Bruce.
You’d often drive to Bludhaven just to give him chicken noodle soup and sprite, when he got sick. Even as he grew older and older...He loved it. No one could ever beat his mom babying him, when he felt under the weather.
JASON
"Hey buddy, are you ok ?”
“Yes, yes I’m ok mom.”
He smiles at you sweetly, his eyes half-closed, and clearly still relishing in the fact that he can finally call someone “mom”. But this happiness he felt whenever he realized he was finally safe, and had a home, was oddly dimmed, this morning.
“Are you su-OH MY GOD !”
Your hand is burning, as you lay it on his forehead.
He’s burning up !
“Hey wow hey, kiddo, come here, you’re not feeling well are you ?”
But Jason shakes his head, and says :
“No I’m good. Just tired, but I’ll wake up soon.”
He smiled again, but it felt all wrong.
Of course, you didn’t take his words for it, even if you knew Jason wasn’t a liar. But the fact spoke for themselves, your kid was NOT alright. No matter what he was saying.
Turned out, you were definitely right. He really wasn’t alright.
In fact, Jason had...pneumonia. A bad case of it. That he probably caught when he was playing earlier that day, in the snow, with Bruce, staying out up until his lips were blue and he was soaking wet !! Bruce could just never resist him, and didn’t have the heart to say “no” when the kid kept asking on playing more...
He dearly regretted it. But you reassured him, this wasn’t his fault. It wasn’t.
You rushed to the hospital, Bruce holding a tiny little Jason wrapped tight in a few warm blankets. And the doctor confirmed you made the right call, taking him to the ER.
It wasn’t like with Dick, where it was obvious the boy had a mild sickness. No. Jason really looked bad, and ready to drop.
You and Bruce let once again your parental instincts kick in and...It was the right call.
When Jason woke up, he let out a string of apologies and you realized...You realized the kid was terrified you wouldn’t want him anymore if he bothered you too much. Was scared to death that you’d want to take him back where you found him, that you’d give up on him.
His real life father bolted at the first signs of troubles. His mother was a drug addict for whom he was never good enough to try and get cleaned up.
He was abandoned, over and over again along his short life and...he was absolutely terrified that if he was too much of a nuisance to you two, you and Bruce would leave him as well. That you wouldn’t bother.
And it broke your hearts.
Softly, when Jason finally got better, after a few days of utter nightmare for you and Bruce, you took him home. He still needed some rest, as he was a little sick, so you tucked him comfortably in his bed and finally, you told him :
“From now on, you promise me to tell us when you don’t feel ok ? Wether you think it’ll bother us or not. You will never bother us, little buddy, ok ?”
“Ok”, Jason said, unsure.
“What do I have to say or do, to convince you you’ll never be a nuisance to us ?”
The question took Jason by surprise, and he wasn’t quite sure of what to say. In his feverish state anyway, he had a hard time thinking. He heard himself say :
“Stay with me ?”
“Of course. Always little one, always.”
And as he softly drifted to sleep, feeling the cold and soothing towel you would wet over and over again to put on his forehead, he heard you hum a song from your childhood, that would become a song always sure to put him to sleep.
He was out, when Bruce said : “I’ll stay home tonight.” A shame, really. Because maybe, maybe if he heard that the Batman was going to skip patrol just to keep an eye on him...Then he’d know he would never bother him. Ever.
That he would forever hold a dear, prime place in his heart.
Jason woke up the next morning, and found you and Bruce asleep on the floor, right next to his bed. You were still holding a towel that had long since dried up, and one of Bruce’s hand was clutched tightly on your shirt.
The basin full of cold water laying on his bed side table was almost empty. Jason smiled.
He felt better after a few hours of good sleep, and slowly got out of the blankets, pulling them with him, to then lay down next to you two, throwing the thick quilt over all of you.
Later that day, Alfred found the three of you all cuddled up. He snatched a picture. Picture that was framed, amongst some of your favorite of your children, in your office. And in Bruce’s.
The way you sung him to sleep when he was sick...When he died, it was the last thing he thought about. When he saw the bomb would explose before Bruce could save him.
He thought of how soothing it was, to be taken care of by you. And your humming voice rung in his ears, as he realized he was going to die. Right there.
Oh. Oh he wished he could be a little sick eight years old again, forget all his worries, and just fall asleep with the sound of your voice in his ears, while his dad would hold the both of you in his arms...
TIM
“Timothy Jackson Drake-Wayne, go back to bed this instant !”
Tim was the most difficult one, when he had a fever. He was a bit of a workaholic (like father like son ?), and always wanted to help. He hated being too sick because then he felt useless.
Your boy just wanted so much to be there for everyone, that he often forgot himself in the process and...yes.
His first real fever/sickness was punctuated by you constantly trying to get him back into bed.
You almost never even knew Tim was sick !
The boy was so used to taking care of himself, that he tried to handle everything on his own. He even took an appointment to the doctor himself ! But then, before having the chance to go there, he passed out in school, which resulted in a call from his principal that ended in Bruce almost having a heart attack.
You understood him of course. It wasn’t really a nice feeling to be called out during a business meeting to have someone tell you your son passed out in school !
It was just a little flu, but the fever and lack of sleep got the best of him.
Bruce didn’t even tell anyone where he was going, as he rushed to the school. You met him there, as he was walking out of the building, with a little sleepy Tim in his arms.
“I can walk, I swear I can walk.”
The boy was saying, yet his head was on his dad’s shoulder, and the up and down bobble of Bruce’s walk was clearly putting him to sleep.
Your husband settled your son in the car, and drove home.
“He was trying to convince me he could finish his school day, and that he had a group work today and didn’t want to let his friends down...”
“Sounds like Tim alright...”
You said, looking back at his sleeping form in the back seat.
Bruce nods, but you could see something was on his mind. You always knew, when something was on his mind. Brushing a few fingers on his cheeks, you ask :
“What is it, my Bruce ?”
His eyes are on the road, of course. But he flicks them quickly to you, and he knows. He knows he can’t lie to you, or get away with telling you half-truth.
You’ll know, if he’s not really telling you what has been worrying him. He takes a deep breath and, with a small voice says :
“Is this...my fault ?”
At first, you don’t understand, and you say :
“I’m pretty sure it’s because that boy never wears a damn sweater, and we’re in Gotham in the middle of Winter haha.”
But then...Then you realize what he means.
He’s talking about the fact that Tim always seem to overcompensate for something. Always seem to want to be there for everyone, forgetting sometimes he’s just a ten years old boy.
Tim was the only one out of his siblings that became Robin for no personal reason, but just because he loved Batman and wanted to help him. Just because he wanted to help people.
He didn’t have a tragic backstory (although he unfortunately got one later on...), he didn’t have a reason to become Robin, other than his good nature and really wanting to help...
And Bruce let him. Allowed him to do this. Even after what happened to Jason, he let Tim sneak in your life and become Robin.
You’d argue that Tim didn’t leave you guys much of a choice, and sort of had a “well I’m gonna help you no matter what, deal with it” sort of attitude. But you understood your husband’s worries.
He was afraid that he was the one that made him that way. That it was because of him, that Tim worked his health off.
“Oh, Bruce, my Heart...No. No it’s not your fault. It’s just how this amazing little boy is wired. I actually think that thanks to you, he’s more focused and taken care of. The gods can only imagine what Tim Drake would’ve done if he hadn’t been trained by Batman himself...If you said “no” to him pestering you about becoming your Robin, he would’ve taken it upon himself to go out there anyway. And then...I can only imagine what would’ve happened. So no. No it’s not your fault. It’s just...how he is. He reminds me of you a lot, actually. And I’m so, so glad he managed to convince you...Couldn’t imagine my life without that little one in it. Even if he does give me grief often, overworking like that. But it’s not your fault. It’s not. On the contrary.”
It took you a while, to convince Bruce he didn’t create Tim the way he sort-of created Dick and Jason. But you managed to, as you always did. You could be very convincing. Plus, the boy helped. It was clear his dedication came from himself mainly, that he was just born this way.
Too clever and smart for his own good, destined to be a Robin...and maybe a Batman, one day ?
Yes. Tim was the only one that wasn’t in it for himself. For personal reasons. He just wanted to help...
But after that first time he got sick, he understood that sometimes, it was ok to rely on you or his die. That in fact, he would gladly do so !
That day, Bruce carried him to his bed, even as the boy protested he was alright. Finally, you’ve had enough and ended up sort of lecturing him...gently.
“You need to rest, sometimes, ok ? If it’s too much, if you’re too tired, physically AND mentally, you need to take a few steps back...and let others take care of things, and of you. Ok ?”
“But-”
“No buts Timmy. It’s important. If something bad happens to you because you’ve been ignoring your own body, your own self...What will happen to those you want to help ? In order to continue what you’re doing, you need to take some pauses. Like right now. You are sick. You passed out in school. So...It’s gatorade and crackers time.”
Gatorade and crackers.
Tim’s favorite drinks and food.
Gatorade and crackers.
Two things that were rarely found in Wayne Manor. You always tried to give healthy balanced meals to your kids. Especially to Tim, who had the opposite of a balanced diet when he came into your lives (the fact he often had to take care of himself as his parents were too busy meant he often chose his own food...and of course he’d rather have ice cream than broccolis).
But the fact that you were now giving him Gatorade and crackers meant...Meant that Dick was right. When they were sick, you would do anything to make them comfortable.
Coincidentally though, Gatorade and saltines helped out, when one was sick.
On that first time he became sick after starting to live with you, Tim found that it was ok, to relax sometimes. That he didn’t have to waste his life away 24/7 for others, and that he could enjoy some down time.
It only happened when he was sick, to your great dismal. You constantly tried to convince him to take a break (just like you did with Bruce...but although it worked with your husband, especially as he got older, Tim was just very stubborn, and wanted to help too damn much). You even had to trick him into it often.
So although you hated seeing your kids in any kind of pain, you were almost glad when Tim got sick. Because it meant he would really take care of himself. Or rather, letting you take care of him.
That first time he got sick, he ended up leaving his bed...only to go cuddle up in yours and Bruce’s, and enjoy some down time. And learn that, it was ok, to take care of himself.
Hell. You’d hammer this fact in his head if you had to.
Gatorade and crackers, while watching movies in yours and Bruce’s big bed, was why Tim thought that in the end, being sick wasn’t too bad.
Extra points if you two were in the bed with him, snuggled up all nice, safe and warm.
CASSANDRA
Cassandra didn’t like TV, when she was sick. Instead, she liked you reading her stories better. And you’d read to her all day, if need be. Switching from time to time with your husband.
She had trouble sleeping, even when sick and weak. Listening to your voices telling her all those wonderful stories was soothing beyond measure.
The first time she fell sick while at Wayne Manor though, her first reflex was to go hide. Because when she used to be sick with the man who called himself her “father”, with David Cain (that scum), he used to get so mad at her.
As if it was her fault, she became sick.
So she’d run away. Curl into a ball. Wait for it to pass. And then face him, healthy again. It was easier to confront him when she was ok...So she’d rather run away and face the consequences, rather than stay around him while sick.
And so, her first instinct was to go hide.
She went to the attic, and did what she used to do.
Curled up in a ball, in front of the round window. And wait. Alone.
It’s Bruce, who found her. He was casually checking the GPS he put on his children. They still thought they got rid of it, the sweet kids...but as if he’d only implant one. He knew it wasn’t really ethical, but after what happened to Jason, he wasn’t willing to take any chances.
During the day, he would check a few times, and usually during boring office meeting, to see where they were. That day, he saw Cass in the Manor’s attic, and didn’t think much of it. Cass was a curious one, who took it upon herself to explore everything in the house.
But when he came home, and she was still there, his guts told him something was wrong...He rushed to the attic, and found her.
And his heart stopped, when he saw her laid on the floor, curled up into a ball, and softly moaning because she had a bad fever.
She wasn’t asleep, even in this state she fought sleep, afraid to have nightmares (and while having a fever, she couldn’t just wake up to escape them...).
Bruce carried her out of the attic, holding her tight in his arms, his heart bleeding as he realized why she isolated herself while she needed help.
People often misjudged Bruce on that matter. Saw him as a cold harsh man. But oh; oh if it was touching his children or you...He would feel so much. Too much, even. He just loved you all to death.
When he brought her downstairs, and you saw her, you immediately entered “mom mode” and fussed over her, getting everything you needed to make her comfortable...but as it turned out, all she wanted was to feel yours and Bruce’s presence.
To hear your voice, and feel you were there.
And so without thinking, you picked up a book and started to read it to her. And you could feel her relax, let her guard down. A rare occasion she would truly let herself be chill.
The first time Cass got sick while living under your roof, her first instinct was to hide and lick her wounds all by herself. It was to lie on the floor and hope it would pass fast. It was-
The second time she felt under the weather, she immediately went to you. It was early in the morning. And it’s only thanks to Bruce’s amazing reflexes that Cass didn’t throw up all over you two, as he pulled you away from her just in time...To then take care of changing the sheets, while you held your daughter’s hair as she threw up in the master’s bathroom’s toilet.
And then Bruce went downstairs to take a “barf-bowl”, the one actually, that her mom used to take for him...ah. He always used that one for all the kids. Call it nostalgia.
The second time Cass got sick while under your care, she didn’t hide. She wasn’t dreading it, even as she got even sicker than the first time. No.
No because now, she knew she’d always find you so you could take care of her. Ah, and Dick, Jason and Tim gave her many tricks to fake being sick and have you all for herself...
DUKE
Duke was older than any of your kids were when he started to live at the Manor. He was already in his teens. He wasn't a tiny bean like the rest of them, when he came in your family...
And yet. Yet the first time he fell sick, you babied the hell out of him.
So what if he was sixteen ? Doesn’t mean he couldn’t have all the care a child should have when he wasn’t feeling well.
And so you were ready to take care of him, when Alfred came to you this morning to tell you “Master Duke” wasn’t feeling well.
However, when you got to his room and indeed saw he was feverish, he refused to talk to you and just wanted to be alone.
And then it hits you.
Duke was sixteen.
He wasn’t a lost little eight years old boy who had just lost his parents, or never even had parents. He wasn’t a child in dear need of love and cuddles.
He was sixteen.
And he wanted HIS mom.
What happened to his parents was too fresh.
And they weren’t dead...In a way, seeing them lose their mind with no chance of ever getting better was worst.
Duke was sixteen.
And there, sick, all he wanted was to have his mom’s care again.
Yes. Duke’s case was different than all your other children. Because his parents were still there. Because he was older. Because everything was so fresh, at the moment.
In time, in the coming years, he would come to feel just like his siblings did. But right there, just mere few weeks after he moved to the manor, and mere few days after Bruce helped him find his parents...
Duke was homesick.
He missed his dad. But he missed his mom even more. Probably for the same reason that your kids loved to have you around so much, when they were sick...
There was no doubt in your mind that Duke’s mom was amazing at taking care of him when he felt ill. She probably had her own tricks, to make him feel better. Tricks that you did not know...And so you asked.
You simply asked.
Because you wanted to make him feel better. You wanted to be there for him, even if right now, he didn’t want you around.
If he truly wanted to be left alone, you’d leave some medicine and leave him be. But your guts were telling you he was just sad, and the sad was translated into him pretending he wanted to be alone.
Your guts were right.
Duke wanted his mom. Yes. But he also didn’t want to be alone with his thoughts, right now...He just didn’t want to hurt your feelings. He knew how motherly you could be.  He didn’t want to project his mother on you. He-
“What do you need ?”
You asked, and the answer came to his mind instantly. He spoke before even realizing he was doing it :
“My mom used to make a perfect drink of warm water, honey, ginger and lemon.”
And as you tried to recreate his mom’s drink, never quite getting the measurements right (you could see on his face it wasn’t like his mother’s), Duke slowly felt better.
Because...Because yes. He missed his mom. And the way she took care of him. Especially on sick days. But...It wasn't everywhere that one could find someone who cared so much, that they were willing to spend their entire day trying to get a drink right, right ?
And when Bruce came home, and asked him if he was “alright champ ?”, Duke realized one thing...
Yes. He wanted his parents. Yes, he missed them like hell. Yes, his sick days would never be the same...
But he wasn’t alone. As Bruce joined in trying to make the perfect drink of “warm water, honey, ginger and lemon”, Duke came to the realization that his situation wasn’t as desperate as he thought, this morning, when he woke up feeling under the weather, and without his mom to take care of him.
Because you were still there. And were planning on staying there for a very long time. Of course, you could never replace his mom. Just like you never replaced Dick’s, or Damian’s...You just, became another mom to them.
And Duke...That first day of being sick in Wayne Manor ? He felt like he was finally willing to let you become his second mom. To let Bruce become a father figure. To have this found family, in this tough times...
Sick days were never the same than when he was a little kid and still had his parents around.
Duke was sixteen. Growing up wasn’t easy, especially after what he went through. And sick days would never be the same...But it didn’t mean they wouldn’t be nice, as he slowly let you and Bruce, and his newfound siblings, take care of him.
Yes. To have this found family in this tough times was quite a joy.
DAMIAN
To the surprise of many, Damian actually didn’t resist too much being taken care of when he first got sick under your roof.
Damian actually loved being sick, because it meant snuggles time with you, safe and warm under a blanket on the couch, watching his favorite movies. It meant your soothing fingers running in his hair, making him feel peaceful and relaxed.
It also meant that he’d have you all for himself.
With five siblings (with a sixth one on the way), it wasn’t always the easiest thing ever, to get his mom only for himself. Yes. He loved to be sick, and babied by you.
The first time he got a bad fever, a few months after he arrived at the Manor, he dreaded falling ill because...
Well. Because he was raised in the League of Assassins. And being sick, no matter how much, was not considered reason enough to not train. To not do what his grandfather told him to do.
He used to work through the sickness. Even if he felt like passing out (and he did, a few times, which earned him hours from his sleeping time taken away...).
So Damian hated being sick.
Until. Until he became ill for the first time when living with you.
By that time, you and Bruce had learned how to manage a sick child. And although Bruce still felt physically ill too whenever his children were, he managed nowadays to be somewhat ok and take care of them without wincing.
It happened not long after Damian started to call you “mom”. He fell asleep while you guys were watching a movie and...it’s what instantly told you something was wrong.
No matter how bad a movie would be, Damian would NEVER fall asleep in the middle of it.
Ah, and sure enough, as you checked his temperature you realized he had a bad fever. And so you carried him to his room, tucking him into bed.
He woke up as you were doing that, and looked at you, utterly surprised. What was going on ?
“Get some rest buddy, you’ll feel better soon.”
You said, smiling. And at first, Damian didn’t understand. He had been so conditioned in ignoring his own well being, that he didn't realize something was wrong with him. But then, you laid a hand on his forehead, and said :
“Ah it doesn’t seem like it’s such a big sickness, I’ll go get you some medicinal tea and...What do you want to eat ? If you’re hungry ? Maybe you’re not, sometimes when I’m sick I just don’t wanna eat anything.”
Sick ? Was he...Sick ? Yes. He was. But it was so mild, that he didn’t even think he needed to rest. Or...Didn’t he ? He was just so used to still work even when sick.
“What-What about school ?”
He asked, and he was surprised his voice sounded so weak and tired. Was he always feeling like that when sick ? Yes. But...Something was different.
And then it hit him.
“I think it’s ok if you skip a few days’ buddy.”
The difference was that, when he was sick while amongst the League of Assassins, he was always terrified that his grandfather got tired of him and send him hitmen (it happened a lot before, while he was sleeping for example, and it always happened to test him, test if he was ready, and willing to kill and ask questions after). That he didn’t find him useful enough.
While here, with you, he felt safe. He felt loved. He felt warm.
And so his body wasn’t in a “fight or flight” state. He was just...sick. As any normal kid would be.
When with the Al’Ghul, he somehow managed to convince himself to keep going, to work through the pain. And oh, it’s wonders, what the brain can do when you really want to.
But here. Here he didn’t have to act tough. To keep walking or he’d end up dead. Here. Here he was safe. And loved.
So he felt the sickness, the fever. He felt it’s true effect.
“What do sick people eat ?”
He asked, and at first you didn’t think much of it. You started to tell him Dick loved chicken noodle soup while Tim preferred saltines. Cass would never eat much, neither would Jason, but they’d always say yes to some flat sodas.
He seemed unsure of what he wanted, so you asked him a simple question :
“What do you usually eat, when you’re sick ?”
It was such an innocent question. But it made him almost cry.
Usually ?
Usually...
“Well...”
He hesitates, and you sense there’s more to things than you originally thought. Finally, after looking at your encouraging smile, he says :
“When I was sick before, I still had to train. And then they’d tell me I’m weak.”
In one sentence, you understand everything. And you could punch yourself for ever thinking that he got taken care of when sick. And then the next second, you hold him tight in your arms, and once again, Damian is surprised.
But pleased. He had been touched starve most of his life, this was nice.
“My poor baby...”
He didn’t even complain you called him a baby, and let you hug him. And then...Then you spend time with him, trying to find the perfect ritual to make him feel better while he was sick.
You had such rituals with everyone. Formed on the day they first got sick. Damian needed his own thing too...
Thus was created the “couch nest”.
It involved covering the living room’s couch with at LEAST one quilt, then Damian would bring the pillows (and maybe some stuffs animals, or even real ones...Titus often sneaked in) from his bed, and you would tuck him in with one or two more quilts.
He would then spend the rest of the time watching TV and movies with you. Or with his siblings. Or his dad.
And it was so comforting, to be wrapped up like that. Almost like laying in a hug. It made him feel like he was perpetually held by you.
Damian used to hate being sick. Because he hated being weak.
But this changed. Just like he changed. Thanks to his family. Thanks to you.
Now, just like Tim, he almost loved, being sick...
************
“This sort of reminds me of that time Dick got his first fever...”
You were thinking about all those terrible, yet sweet days, of your children being sick, as you walked up the stairs to your house, a hand tightly weaved around your husband’s.
Bruce was holding a sleeping Thomas in one of his arm (the boy was so small he could even fit in one of his hand, really), and felt relaxed. Here. With his son, and his wife, the love of his life. And with the knowledge than when you’d push the door to your house open you’d-
“Father ! Mom ! How is he !?”
Both you and Bruce quickly put a finger on your lips, and Damian throws his hands on his mouth, regretting his scream. But he was just so worried.
He couldn’t come with you to the doctor’s office as he had school (plus you were pretty sure he would’ve been 100 times worst than Bruce, trying to stop Leslie by any means necessary), and had been thinking about his little brother’s first shot all day.
Damian, just like his dad, wasn’t very fond of shots. He hated that his brother (wether the youngest one, or one of the older one, really) had to go through this.
It was always silly to you, how both Bruce and Damian, who’ve been through much worst than small little shots, hated those so much...Silly, and very cute.
Damian was looking critically at his brother, checking him silently for any signs of distress, for any “mistakes” Doctor Thompkins would’ve done, and seemed satisfied that the boy was fast asleep in his dad’s arm.
And Bruce...Bruce was smiling.
He felt so relaxed. And happy.
When you pushed that door, it opened on Damian rushing to the two of you, worried about his little brother. But it also opened on Alfred, who baked some comforting food, and brewed some tea for you, knowing how hard on you this sort of things could be (and yet how you insisted to take your kids to the doctor yourself, and not let Alfred do it, because you wanted to be there for them).
It opened on Cass smiling, and ruffling Damian’s hair as to reassure him.
It opened on Tim, who took a small break from his college study to come down and spend some times with his siblings, ready to relax in front of a movie (it was family movie night !).
It opened on Duke, who’s hands were full of DVDs, and who was excited to try to convince y’all to watch “Ninja and Pirates 6″, or something of the like.
It opened on Jason, who was smiling in such a way that no one would ever know all the things he went through. And it made Bruce feel all nice and warm inside...even as the little shit mimicked him having to take a shot. Squirming and looking as if he was about to faint. And ah, he hated to admit it, but his boy was impersonating him really well.
And it opened on Dick. His first kid. The one that, one day when getting sick, was who made Bruce realize what it truly meant to be a dad. The one who knew the best how much he hated  seeing any of his children sick, or getting shots.
On Dick, who was laughing really hard at Jason’s impersonation, and giving him feedbacks about what to improve to make it even better.
The door opened on his family.
And as the ruckus surrounding him woke Thomas, as Damian yelled at Jason and Dick for being so loud, and as Bruce’s eyes fell on you, while you looked at your little tribe with love in your eyes...
Bruce felt relaxed. And so, so, oh so happy.

Raihan/Kabu/Piers × Shy Male! Reader (Sfw)
Raihan × Shy Male!Reader // S/O (Sfw { mild cursing })
Tumblr media
You stood outside Hammerlocke stadium waiting for your boyfriend as he said to meet you there. You had on his jacket, with the hood up because of how many people were around. This didn't stop reporters and fangirls from coming up to you, all bombarding you with questions.
You simply pulled the hood down and shoved your hands into the pocket. It wasn't that you were trying to be rude, you just preferred the attention be on someone else. Literally anyone else.
"How does it feel to be Raihan's first public boyfriend?"
"Hey! Look up here for a quick photo, it wont hurtcha. You're already so cute from what we've seen!"
"Do you love him?"
"Are you gonna stay under there?"
If it was up to you, you would stay in your boyfriend's clothes forever. It was a perfect hiding spot.
"I-I would prefer..not to answer." You stuttered out quietly and stepped closer to the gym doors. The attention got overwhelming at times but you would do this forever if it meant being with Raihan. He was worth it.
"What's annoying about Raihan? Isn't it tiring, that he puts his whole life on the internet?"
You scowled a little and pulled your hood down farther. "I think it's cute." You said under your breath.
"Don't you wish he was champion instead? He always fails at beating Leon!"
"What?" You said softly and lifted your head up a little, but not enough to be seen. The people surrounding you only saw this as invitation to ask more.
"Isn't he a little full of himself when it comes to battles? You can answer us!" Someone said excitedly and shoved a microphone towards you.
"Fine, take this for an answer." You almost snatched the microphone from their hand and frowned at them. "No, I do not find Raihan annoying. I'm very proud of him for even having a gym in the first place. He doesn't need to be Champion to be accomplished! Who the hell are you guys to even be asking stuff so rude? Are YOU Champion?"
Your hood fell back to your shoulders by the time you were done talking. Instantly, camera flashes hit your eyes and you tried to cover your face with your sleeves. You were still beyond angry, and it only increased as you heard the people begin talking again.
"Aw, so cute!"
"Are you really dating Raihan?"
"Raihan got lucky!"
You clenched your fists and dropped the mic you had snatched to your feet.
Then you lunged at a reporter.
Two women screamed, one yelped because of the sudden action and right before you actually touched the man you were going to attack..
"Hey." You felt a pair of strong arms pick you up and throw you over their shoulder. You were met with a back side that had a dark navy shirt on, and navy gym shorts. The Dragon Type uniform.
"Calm down, Tyrogue headass.." Raihan chuckled and you blushed at the familiar teasing. You could hear squeals from the crowd, the same one you would have attacked with your bare hands had it not been for Raihan coming at the last second.
"Put me down! Put me down! Put me down!" You said quickly and began waving your fists in protest. "They weren't being nice about you!"
"Not worth your time, babe. Thanks for keeping him occupied." You could practically hear the grin in Raihan's voice as he began to turn back to the doors of his gym to carry you in. You faced the reporters again and now looked up at them with a scowl. Their faces were all in awe at Raihan carrying you. Some continued taking pictures.
"Oouu let him put me down and I'll- do not very nice things!" You growled quietly and shook one of your fists at them.
"Baby, calm down." Raihan giggled from above you as he even paused for photos a few times just to frustrate you playfully. You pulled the hood further down your head, still cursing reporters as your boyfriend carried you past them.

Kabu × Shy Male! Reader (Sfw)
Tumblr media
At almost all times you were sitting or standing next to Kabu. It wasn't that you didn't like the rest of the gym leaders, it was just something you did for comfort.
You were in a meeting with the rest of the Gym leaders, sometimes you tagged along with Kabu when invited. The other gym leaders didn't mind, they were the ones inviting you sometimes.
Right now they were discussing new ways to (as Raihan said it) "spice up" their gym missions. Kabu wasn't on board and it showed.
"Come on, you guys think challengers might not get bored of the same thing every year?" Raihan sighed and sat back in his chair. "Same old thing, I'd be bored out of my mind."
"Good thing you aren't a challenger then." Kabu replied, crossing his arms. His irritation showed to you and you nudged his knee with your own under the table lightly. "Our gyms will be led how we would like, and I like mine. I'm keeping it the way it is."
"Come on, no need to get mad." Raihan chimed back and half smiled. "Either all of us or none."
"I'm keeping mine how it is, I've done too much for it since Opal gave me the gym." Bede remarked.
"Come on, Bede..you're the newest of us, take some advice! Change it up a little." Nessa said and sat up.
"I'll k-keep..mine." Allister stammered out and looked down to the table.
"I'd like to change mine." His older sister, Bea smiled widely and pumped one of her fists up. Raihan high fived her, attempting to now convince Milo and Melony to change theirs.
Kabu's eyes furrowed then he looked towards you, smiling with tired eyes. He playfully rolled his eyes while nodding to the other gym leaders. You giggled quietly in answer.
"Come on Kabu, lighten up. Keep up with the times!" Gordie practically whined out. Kabu tensed up once again, and you could feel his anger rising once more.
"Don't tell me what to do. My gym, my rules." Kabu stood and looked around now with a frown. If provoked, his temper could easily appear. You looked to the other gym leaders, Allister (even with a mask, you could tell) was nervous because of how Kabu could get.
"Ugh. They're just ideas-" Bede groaned sassily.
"They're stupid ones!" Kabu slammed one of his now balled up fists onto the table you all sat at. The gym leaders were used to his hot headed self, so it didn't bother them and they never planned on telling him anything like "calm down", or "be nice."
"Kabs." You stood up, still slightly avoiding eye contact with the rest of them and grabbed his elbow softly. "Calm down, they were just trying to give some advice." The other gym leaders now all looked at you, some with slightly widened eyes.
Kabu’s cheeks turned a light shade of pink, you could feel the tension in his body go away as you began to rub his arm. He turned toward you and the anger in his eyes was gone, now replaced by warmth when you looked into them. Raihan smirked from the other side of the table.
Kabu grumbled something then sat down, his face burning up. “I-Yeah. He’s right. I suppose I should calm down, you all are just trying to help me. I apologize for calling your ideas stupid.” He crossed his arms and avoided eye contact. You followed and sat back down with him, then looked up and realized all the gym leaders were now staring at you, either with shocked faces or grins.
“I’m so sorry if I interrupted your meeting- I just wanted Kabs to calm down and-” You could now feel your cheeks begin to darken with embarrassment and you hid your face in your hands, not even wanting to finish your own sentence.
“Why are you apologizing? You got Kabsy here to calm down, something none of us could do. And you did it without thinking he might take out a Pokemon and burn you alive or something.” Raihan chuckled and turned to Kabu, with his chin being held up by his palms. “You got a soft spot?”
Your boyfriend scoffed and rolled his eyes. “Let’s just get on with the meeting, I don’t have time to-”
“For me he does.” You teased softly and took one of Kabu’s hands in your own. This only caused the red in his cheeks to return and for him to hide his face in one hand, groaning.
“You should come to meetings more often, dear!” Melony practically squealed out, Nessa nodding in agreement.
Raihan laughed loudly then looked towards you. “No, seriously. Calm your man down sometimes.” He grinned.
“Let’s get on with it!” Kabu said loudly and waved his free hand in the air but was still looking away from everyone to avoid his blush being visible. He didn’t take his hand from you though, now he intertwined your fingers. You smiled a little more at the action and squeezed his hand in return.
“Alright, Alright...” Raihan bit his lip and reached down under the table only to pull out a folder with a playful squeal.
“Let’s change our uniforms!!” There were chuckles throughout the table of people, and you began to feel more comfortable with all of them, simply by holding Kabu’s hand. He turned his head toward you and smiled a little, as to not make it obvious to the rest of them.
You giggled again and prepared to listen to Raihan’s bright idea of changing the uniforms with Kabu already groaning when he realized what the younger gym leader had said.

Piers × Shy Male! Reader (Sfw {mild cursing})
Tumblr media
You sat on a wooden crate besides Marnie, your boyfriend's little sister. You two were listening to him sing to a crowd of Team Yell members and other people from different towns.
The silence with Marnie was usual and comfortable.
"Look at my bro go. Always had it in him, singing." She said quietly and leaned slightly towards you so you would hear over the music.
You nodded and smiled a little. Your eyes couldn't come off Piers, you loved watching him sing. You put your knees up to your chin, and rested your arms crossed on them so they would hide your grin and pink cheeks.
"Still not much of a talker?"
"Oh! Uh, yeah- I like talking." You practically whispered. "Sorry, not really-"
"Hey. It's fine. Piers already told me you aren't that out there. I don't mind some silence." Marnie replied with a nicer tone now, since she meant it.
"Thanks." You quietly replied and looked back to the stage before you heard her speak again.
"What do you see in Piers? You can tell me, I'm not the judging type."
"What do I..see in him?"
"Mhm."
You looked to the stage again and watched Piers interact with the crowd. Your grin widened, you almost never see him smile as much as he did on stage unless he was alone with you.
"I see..a sweet guy. He looks all mean and hard but he's really the most gentle guy I know. He has this smile that drives me wild and.." You took your arms away from your face to talk more clear.
"And? Come on, don't be shy." Marnie encouraged and nudged you with her elbow.
"He's real funny. Piers makes me happy when I'm having a really bad day, he's got this thing to him that I can't stop wanting." You could feel your cheeks turning a light shade of red, and you cursed how easy it was for you to blush.
Piers looked towards you and Marnie and winked at you. Some people in the crowd cheered at the action, a few swooned excitedly. You buried your face in your hands and could hear Marnie laugh a little.
"A-Anyways..he doesn't let anything in his past or present get to him. His music..his music! It's so impressive. He's a singing gym leader. The way he manages both..I just-!" You dropped your knees from your face and squealed. "It's Piers!"
Marnie laughed a little at your excitement. "Anything else?"
"He's..SO cute. Gosh, I can't get over it. We've been together for a while and he still makes me all giddy and warm inside when he smiles or- does shit like that!" You spoke about his playful wink, and you stood up on the crate, not even caring about your fear of crowds anymore. "And I love it!"
The crowd was still practically screaming as the song ended. You cupped one of your hands around your mouth, waving the other at Piers frantically.
"Come on Piers! Give us MORE!!" You shouted out while grinning and quickly caught his and some fans' attention. You locked eyes with him, and made a motion to usher him for another song.
He raised his hand to the crowd to quiet them down then spoke. "Alright, hey. Glad you guys are enjoying the show. It was supposed to stop now but, how am I gonna end this when I got my sweetheart over there asking for more?" Piers nodded to you, causing multiple Team Yell members to turn your way, smiling.
You immediately sat back down on the crate next to Marnie and hid your face. "No.." You protested quietly against his teasing. He knew you never liked the acknowledgement, he just liked making you blush.
"So, Team Yell. I want you to be as loud as you can, this next one is for my cutie. Love ya." Piers adjusted the mic as Team Yell began what they did best again: cheering. They turned quickly back to the stage and you peeked up at Piers.
Your eyes' focus never left him, and you listened intently to his voice. A relaxed sigh left you as you felt yourself being caught up in the music. You and Piers continued to make eye contact throughout the rest of the show, as if no one else was there. The moment was like a trance and neither of you were really looking to get out of it.

movie night // karlnapity x gn!reader
(hi! this is my first post on tumblr and i’m still learning how to use it haha, requests in my askbox would be highly appreciated please i will literally love u so much <3)
word count: 1,565
summary: you and your boys took the night off from streaming to spend some time together
request?: nope, but my requests are open!
---
“Is there anything else y’all want?” Nick asked from the bar stool he was seated on, scribbling down a quick shopping list. Both Karl and Alex shook their heads, Nick just about ready to head off before you piped up from the sofa in your open plan apartment, a sly yet lighthearted smirk present on your lips.
“Yeah, actually. Popcorn, crisps, sweets, and just any snacks you can find, really. Also, make sure you guys cancel your streams tonight - we don’t have any lore planned, do we?” you looked at each of your boyfriends who you met through the Dream SMP, and they returned your gaze with very confused expressions. Even so they shook their heads again to provide an answer to your question.
“I mean, I was gonna hop on the server with Will for a bit, but I can leave that until tomorrow if you’d like?” Alex asked, obviously curious as to what his partner had in mind. You were quick to assure him that your little idea could wait for a day the four of you were free, though you weren’t completely convinced that it would even happen at all if that were to be the case; you’re all very busy people.
“If it’s something important to you, baby, then I’m sure we can work something out,” Karl said with a soft smile, both Nick and Alex humming in agreement. “Although, dare I ask why you want us to cancel our streams?” he asked sheepishly. You considered keeping it from them, but gave in to the anxiety-inducing question of whether it was really important enough or if you were just being clingy.
“Well, I just thought, maybe, we could, you know,” you stammered, worrying the three a little bit. They exchanged glances, wondering if they’d perhaps done something wrong. “We haven’t really spent much time together recently, and I thought we could maybe have a movie night or something? I’m sorry, I know I should’ve planned this out properly with your guys’ input, it was just a last minute thought. We really don’t have to do it, Alex I know you said you had streaming plans and that was before I mentioned any of this and-”
“Babe,” Alex cut off your rambling before it spiralled into something more, as it often did, chuckling slightly and walking over to you with his arms out wide. You let him wrap them around you and you reciprocated the action, close to tears at this point due to the whirlwind of anxiety racing around your mind over something that warmed your boyfriends’ hearts, instead of annoying them and getting in their way as you’d predicted. “I’m sure we can miss out on a day of streaming to spend some time with each other, right? We have been pretty busy, like you said.” He smiled, looking deep into your eyes before leaning in for a sweet kiss.
Nick cleared his throat upon seeing you trade kisses without him, not even bothering to cover up his laughter. Of course, you sarcastically apologised and gave each him and Karl their own kisses too, Alex doing the same.
“So, is this everything we need?” Nick checked one more time before heading out the door, leaving once you’d looked over the list and didn’t see anything missing.
“Alright then lads!” you turned to Alex and Karl once the door closed, a large grin gracing your face. “Go and grab all the pillows, cushions, blankets, plushies - go and grab every comfy thing we own! If we’re gonna do this, we’re doing it properly, Okay?” they both instantly scrambled to the king sized bed and pretty much stripped it, while you crouched in front of the cupboard that the relatively large TV stood atop. Your eyes skimmed over the many movies you owned, the innocent Disney ones mixed in with the more gruesome and gory horrors like Saw and The Shining.
After a good few minutes of sorting through the discs and picking out a variety of movies to suit everybody’s tastes, stopping at some point to cheer Alex on in a wrestling match on the sofa against Karl, you’d finally found about six hours worth of top quality films. You looked up at the clock on the wall and it had just gone four pm, meaning that if you settled down by five at the latest then you’d be done by about eleven, making it the perfect time to head straight to bed so nobody would be overly tired in the morning. But there was no use worrying about that, this was supposed to reduce stress, and worrying about time was the opposite.
You’d sneakily chosen a couple of very scary horror movies, knowing that Karl wasn’t the biggest fan of them and it’d be an easy way to get lots of cuddles out of him; he didn’t hate them, but they weren’t exactly his cup of tea, either. You stood up and helped him and Alex set the blankets and cushions up on the sofa, collapsing onto them once you were done.
While leaning your head on Alex’s shoulder, he snaked his arm around you and absentmindedly grazed his fingers up and down your arm. You closed your eyes and you must’ve fallen into a light sleep as you were a little dazed when you opened your eyes to see Nick gently shaking you, not remembering him getting back. Alex was in the kitchen with Karl and you could hear them trying to figure out how to pop the popcorn, even when you knew there were clear instructions on the box.
“Hey, love.” Nick greeted you warmly with an even warmer kiss, planting himself beside you and wrapping an arm around you, much like Alex had not even half an hour ago. You leaned into his side and closed your eyes again, listening to his steady heartbeat.
“I love you.” you murmured softly, feeling Nick press a kiss to your temple and muttering a small “I love you too.”
“If you’re tired, we can always do this tomorrow, honey.” he said, causing you to sit up and jokingly look at him with a shocked face.
“After all the hard work and planning that’s gone into this? I shall not wait!” you yelled dramatically, the both of you laughing at your antics. While he pulled out his phone to scroll through Twitter and alert his fans that there would be no stream today, you stood up to check on the other two. It took them a good few minutes to realise you were watching them, positioned against the counter with a fond smile on your face. It was moments like these that really made you consider how damn lucky you were to call these three yours; sure they were dumb idiots, but they were your dumb idiots, and there was nothing that could change that.
They had just about managed to microwave the popcorn kernels without exploding the whole apartment or something stupid, and were beginning to pour all the snacks into bowls. You helped by taking the full bowls and placing them on the table between the sofa and the TV, sneaking a few bites here and there. Once you were all ready and cuddled up, you on Nick’s left, Karl on your other side and Alex beside Karl, the first movie was finally starting up.
You’d gone easy with this one, choosing Tangled, a very well-known classic. If you knew them, you sang along to the songs no matter how in tune you were or not, and if you didn’t then you simply sat back and enjoyed them. The movie ended and you realised you’d have to stand up again to start up the next one in the pile, when Karl offered to do it for you. Before you could even do so much as protest, he stood up and walked over to the DVD player, looking back at you with a horrified face as he saw what was next: The Silence of the Lambs.
“I hate you so much, Y/n.” He said with a loving smile, knowing you well enough now to see right through you. “If you wanted cuddles, you could’ve just asked!” You chuckled as he put the second movie on, returning to your side and resting his head on your chest. The four of you happily munched on the snacks that were almost gone by now, holding each other close if you got scared.
That movie finished, and then the next, and then the next. By this point you were shoved against Alex, Karl lying over the two of you and Nick. It was about half past eleven and you were all clearly tired, so you decided to call it a day and head to bed. You did your usual nightly routine, whatever it consists of, and collapsed into bed, shortly joined by Karl, then Nick, and finally Alex. As usual, you were sandwiched in between Nick and Karl, and you held onto the former tightly.
“Thank you so much for tonight, guys, I really missed you.” you admitted halfway through a yawn, seconds away from passing out.
“I missed you guys too, I really did.” Karl agreed, and so did the other two. You drifted off in a happy silence, glad to have spent the evening with the three men you loved so dearly.

I hate the way you talk to me and the way you cut your hair
Tumblr media
I reached that 500 followers everyone! So in celebration of all the people who I love dearly, this is the first part of my 10 things I hate about you series that I’m doing.
Heads up that the next part might take a while to post, especially since I’ve been posting the work I get each week, y’all see the amount of stuff I have to do. Part two is already started, but it’s just gonna be a minute before it’s ready.
I hope you guys like it, and thank you again for 500 followers 💛💛💛
Read the whole series:  I hate the way you talk to me and the way you cut your hair // I hate the way you drive my car // I hate it when you stare // I hate your big dumb combat boots and the way you read my mind // I hate you so much it makes me sick, it even makes me rhyme // I hate the way you’re always right // I hate it when you lie // I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry // I hate it when you’re not around, and the fact that you didn’t call // But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you, not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all
________________________
“How long are we going to keep dancing around the fact that you and I are meant for each other?”
“How long is it going to take you to understand that I hate so much about you?”
-------------
“Alright, chica, are we meeting the guys there, or are we stopping by their place? What’s the plan for tonight?” Evelina asks, sitting down on the couch next to you.
“Last I heard, we were meeting them at their place but if you don’t get ready fast enough, we have to meet them there,” you tell her, lifting her off the couch before she can get too comfortable and make you late.
Your phone buzzed in your hand, your other best friend texting you a stupid meme that he found online, followed by a sexual innuendo that was normal for your friendship. You couldn’t help but roll your eyes at how he talked to you, a stupid smile covering your face as you drag Evelina to her room in the hopes that she’ll get ready in a timely manner.
“Is that your man?” she asks, sitting down in front of her mirror, hopefully, to start her makeup.
“He’s not my man,” you protest, not tearing your eyes off your phone, responding to him with an equally snarky and somewhat crude response.
“You’re sexting him as we speak. I can tell, you have that stupid grin on your face that you only get when it’s him replying to you,” she fires back, starting on her makeup. God you hoped she wouldn’t put much on tonight; you were supposed to be meeting the guys in half an hour at one of their houses.
Her comment, however, makes you look up from your phone. “I don’t think you know what sexting is. I am fully clothed. This is not sexting.”
“I will look up the definition of sexting and make us late. But, are you really wearing that tonight?” she asks you, making eye contact with you through her mirror just in time for her to see you roll your eyes. “Take something from my closet; if you’re going to see him tonight then you need to be wearing something better. You get up from her bed in a huff, going to her closet to try to find something there that was remotely your style. Evelina’s clothes were great, they just weren’t things that you would wear. “And you don’t need clothing off just to consider it sexting.”
“He’s literally just my other best friend. Maybe you’re jealous that I’m closer to him than I am to you!” you yell to her from her closet. “And hurry up with the makeup or I’m picking out your outfit.”
“That’s mean,” she says, a slight dig on your sense of style, or lack thereof. “I just need my eye makeup, calm down.” She leaves you in silence to rummage through her wardrobe. You hope that her non-follow up meant that she had dropped the conversation topic about your admittedly weird relationship with him.
She eventually meets you in her closet, pulling out the perfect outfit for herself in a matter of seconds while you struggle to find something. There was a reason why you were wearing the jeans and sweater you already had on; you didn’t like anything else at this point. “What about this?” she asks, handing you a crop top and a flannel to go over it. You give her an unsure look, not really wanting to change at it was. “Come on!” she begs, “This is so much sexier than what you have on now.”
“Why do I need to be sexy?” you argue, taking the clothes from her and changing into them anyway.
She rolls her eyes, knowing that the two of you have the same conversation nearly every week. “You literally sext him constantly,” she repeats in a sing-songy voice.
“It’s not sexting!” you say at the same time, her mimicking you with a slightly higher pitched voice than the one you already make. “You clearly like him. You never come home with me when we go out with them.”
“Maybe that’s because I go home with someone else.”
She laughs, calling your bluff, “You go home with the same curly-haired boy every single week. Admit it: you’re in love with Matthew and he’s in love with you.”
“We’re. Just. Friends,” you argue again, going out to see how the outfit looks on you. “Are you sure this looks alright?” As much as you hated the idea of the crop top, revealing as much skin as you did, she was right that it looked better on you than the sweater.
“Something’s missing,” she says, standing behind you. “And you literally send me a Snapchat from his bed every weekend. He’s never wearing a shirt in those snaps, I might add.”
She leaves you to stare at yourself in the mirror. She could not be more wrong about your feelings for him: he was your best friend, that was it. “He just sleeps without a shirt, the same way you don’t wear pants when you sleep. That’s right, I know you put those shorts on when you wake up.”
“We’re roommates. You know everything about me. That’s not a weird thing to know,” she says. “Why are you so stubborn to admit that you like him?”
“I hate way more about him than I like,” you try to counter. The same argument every week meant that you were running out of original ideas about how to tell her the same thing.
She comes out of her closet, holding a pair of black wedge booties, shoving them in your hands. “Name one thing you hate about him.”
“I hate the way he wears his hair. He’s got amazing curls and yet he lets them hang over that weird side shave of his? Either have it shaved like he did when he was drafted, or go full curls. Pick one.”
She rolls her eyes, getting her own shoes on as your phone buzzes on her bed. “That’s weak. He’s also texted you five times in the last ten minutes.”
“Probably because he’s wondering why we’re running late, even though he knows you’re never on time for anything.” She tosses you your phone. You see the messages asking you where you are, telling you to just meet them there because the guys got too antsy waiting for the two of you to be on time for once. “That’s something I hate about you: you’re always late,” you tell her, hoping that she would drop the subject.
“Join the club. So does my mom.” She gets up, pulling you up with her and admiring the two of you in the mirror before turning to face you. “If you can think of ten things that you hate about Matthew Tkachuk, ten legitimate things that overpower your ability to love him, then I will drop the subject of you and him dating entirely until you bring it up yourself.”
You look at her, trying to figure out if she were serious or not. You loved Evelina more than anyone, definitely more than you loved Matthew, who you didn’t love at all. But her biggest fault was her constant need to gossip. “Does the hair thing count? And how long do I have to come up with the list?”
“Fine. And I’ll give you a month, starting now. In one month, if you don’t have nine more reasons for hating him, then you’re going to hear about how you and him should be together until you get married. If not, then you have to ask him out on a date.”
You hesitate for a moment, not wanting to have to ask him out if you can’t give her the ten satisfactory reasons. But, come on, you could think of so many things you hated about him, just none are coming to mind. “Deal,” you decide, grabbing her hand to lead her out the door.
“You will get married to him, though. I’ll be maid of honor obviously.”
“Keep this up and you won’t even be invited, and neither will Matthew because I won’t be marrying him.”
“We both know that you’re going home with him tonight,” she says, referencing the point she made earlier.
You couldn’t go home with Matthew tonight, and you knew it. If you didn’t have someone else to go home with, then you would have to, though. Or you could just go to your actual home. Pulling up your messages, you type out a message to Matthew: ‘Unless we can both find someone we’re interested in, then we go home with each other alright?’
‘So, both of us go home with someone or we go home with each other?’
‘Yeah, sound good?’ You didn’t care if he wanted that or not. You had to convince Evelina that you weren’t interested in Matthew, first with the list, second with going home with someone else.
‘Just come home with me, like you always do. We can do something different tonight if you’re interested?’ he replies, earning an eye roll from you.
‘Like what?’
‘We obviously both know what we want from each other’
‘Haha, no.’
‘Sad but fine :(’ he sends. Staring at his phone, the three dots appearing and disappearing as you try to find the words to say to him, he wanted nothing more than to be the one who took you home tonight.
You and Evelina get to the bar, not really wanting to see the boys. As soon as Matthew saw you, you knew he would have his hands all over you, but that was it. He would never try to kiss you or anything, even if he wanted to. Even if you were oblivious to the fact that he wanted to.
The entire thing was just confusing. You loved the relationship you had with him, but you knew it was never going to go anywhere. You didn’t want it to. You just had to find someone else to go home with tonight. Ideally, you would fall in love with them and never have to think about Matthew as more than your friend for the rest of your life.
Scanning the bar, you couldn’t see anyone that remotely interested you, other than the usual suspects. The boys had led you to a bar that you’ve frequented enough times that the bartenders knew your drink order on sight. It also meant that you’ve seen the patrons of the bar enough times to know that unless someone new walked through that entrance door tonight, you were going home with Matthew. Unless you could convince one of his teammates to go home with. Maybe you could go home with Elias? Or Noah, worst case.
The same group of friends that was there every weekend was sitting in the front corner, a group of college students who were probably underage sitting in the back, some wine moms probably talking about how horrible their husbands are for buying the wrong brand of designer purse for their birthday presents were sitting in the front. The guys and now Evelina for that matter were nowhere to be seen, meaning they were in the back room, probably hoarding the pool table, like they did every time you guys came here. Not seeing the guys also meant not seeing Matthew.
But that didn’t mean he couldn’t see you. As soon as Evelina bounced into the room, his mind was occupied with the thought of finding you. Then when she told him that you were dressed in some of her clothing? He could feel himself going crazy trying to picture what you were wearing, knowing some of the outfits he had seen your roommate in. All he had to do was convince you not to go home with another guy. That was going to be easy, right? He stands by the bar, out of your line of site, just to admire how you looked. Evelina knew damn well what she was doing when she picked that outfit for you. She had to know seeing you in that would drive Matthew crazy like it was.
You nearly forgot about him, thinking only of your options of who you could go home with when you felt him come up behind you, your entire body tensing up as his hands snaked their way around your waist, pulling you close to him. Your breath stopped when his thumb hooked onto the belt loop of your jeans. He leaned in, his hot breath sending a chill down your spine, letting out a whisper, “Just come home with me tonight. I’m gonna make you cum so hard.”
You exhale, rolling your eyes, running your tongue over your teeth. You knew he would say something like that to you; it was the exact type of statement that you would text each other constantly. He couldn’t see the smirk on your face that you know would drive him crazy. “What, to my senses?” you whisper back. His hands drop long enough for you to turn around to face him, draping your arms on his shoulders just for him to pull you back in to him, leaving no space to escape with your back pressed to the bar counter. “Don’t be crude. You know our deal, Matthew. We just made it, you can’t be that forgetful.”
“And who do you see here that you would be remotely interested in besides me?” he teases. “The guy macking on a girl on the other end of the bar, or the college kids who may or may not be legal?”
“The night is young, Rat Man,” you call him the nickname you knew he despised, ruffling your hands in his hair, tangling your fingers in the curls. “Maybe instead of looking at me, try going for those girls that just came in already can’t seem to keep their eyes off you.” You motion to the table of girls sending you daggers just over Matthew’s shoulders.
“Why would I do that when I have you already right in my arms?”
You lean in, running your hands down his body. You could feel his heart racing at your touch, knowing you were driving him crazy with every word you uttered, “Because we both know that’s not something we do,” you tease him, getting an idea as the guys filter into the main bar area. “Worst-case scenario, I’ll go home with Elias.”
He pulls away from you, trying to hide the pain he was feeling from coming through on his face. “Why would you do that?”
“Have you seen Lindy? You know I’ve always had a crush on him, why not act on that?”
“Because I would hate that?” he questions. You had to know he would hate that. There’s no way you could be so oblivious to the fact that his ‘jokingly sexual texts’ weren’t joking for the most part, right?
“Maybe that’s why I do it,” you tease. Nope, you were oblivious. Even though Evelina had told you earlier, you thought she was lying. “So, where is he?”
Matthew bites his lip, debating on telling you where his teammate was or not. He couldn’t let you go home with Elias, but you know he’s single. He could just tell you that he didn’t come tonight, but then what happens when you spot him. What if he just said Lindy had started seeing someone recently? “I don’t know,” is all he can tell you. He can’t lie to you. Not if this was something that had the potential to make you happy.
“Then I’m gonna go find him,” you say, kissing him on the cheek and weaseling your way out from his grip. You were determined not to go home with him tonight. Evelina was wrong about the two of you being in love, and this was the first step in proving it. Actually, the second, the list was the first step. You just needed nine more things.
“What the hell was that?” Matthew hears a voice snap him out of the trance you sent him into while he watched you walk away to find his teammate. He looks next to him, Evelina sitting there. He could not read the girl to save his life: was she mad? Was she actually confused? The girl only showed emotion with her voice. Either that or Matthew was just oblivious when it came to reading her.
“What are you talking about?” he pretends not to know, signaling to the bartender to get him another drink. If he had to watch you go home with his friend, he might as well be able to forget about it come morning.
She rolls her eyes at him. “I just had this conversation with her. How are you both so dumb?” she says off to the side before sighing and looking at Matthew, “You clearly both love each other.”
Matthew looks at her, the panic written all over his face. “Wh-what?” he stammers out. No one knew he’s liked you for a while now. At least, he hadn’t told anyone. Was he that obvious? Of course he was obvious, he blatantly flirted with you all the time. “We are not in love with each other.”
“Oh, stop lying, everyone but Y/N knows that’s not true. You two will be going out on a date by the end of the month,” she says, staring down at her drink. The confidence in her voice was baffling, considering Matthew didn’t even think he could ever convince you to actually date him. How did Evelina do it?
“You’re one of the first people to tell me that I’m an idiot so I really need you to give me more explanation. We both know I can never figure out what you’re saying to me.”
She sighs, taking a long sip of her drink. “I made a bet with her: if she can come up with ten things that she hates about you by the end of the month, then I’ll stop talking about you two for the rest of your lives. If not, then y’all are going on a date.”
Matthew could feel himself starting to panic. “Only ten things? Are you joking? There are at least five guys in the NHL who could think of fifty. My own teammates probably have thousands. My dad probably hates more things about me than he likes!” he starts to spit out. This was not going to end well, and he knew it.
“Oh, come on,” she says, rolling her eyes yet again. “If she really didn’t like you, then she would have come up with something better than the way you shave the side of your head like that.”
He subconsciously lifts his hand to run it along the shaved sides she was talking about. “That’s all she could think of?”
“That’s it. I know Y/N better than anyone: she’s going to try to think of ten things and she’s not going to come up with them and she’s finally going to realize that she loves you.”
“This is either going to be great or awful.”
“Which one do you want it to be?”
“Great, obviously, but how are you sure it’ll end up with the two of us together?”
She looks at him and just smiles. He couldn’t tell if it was because she was trying not to laugh at how dumb he was or because she was genuinely happy or hopeful. “She’s going to figure out that you like because and love despite. It’s a saying for a reason.”
Before he can say anything, the two of them are interrupted by the sound of you and the rest of the boys roaring with laughter. They both find the group through the crowd to see them all huddled around Elias going on a rant about something. Evelina drags Matthew over, plopping him down next to you, leaving you sandwiched between him and Elias.
“What’s going on?” Evelina asks once he finishes his rant.
“We’re playing ‘don’t get me started,’” you explain, subconsciously settling into Matthew as he drapes his arm behind you. “Elias was just talking about the idea of a ‘puck bunny.’” Evelina raises her eyebrow, egging you on to continue, “He thinks the concept is dumb and that women should be allowed to like the sport without being accused of wanting sex and all that jazz. We love a feminist,” you coo, playfully nudging Elias as he smiles. Matthew could feel himself going crazy at the site of it, putting his arm around you as if to mark you as his.
Evelina raises her glass, “Thank god, you’re a good man, Lindy,” toasting to him before setting her glass down. “Who’s next?”
“I guess it’s me?” you say. “Someone give me a topic.”
“Gifted Education Program in US education,” Evelina says, already knowing your feelings about it. The alcohol in your system was only going to make the rant better.
“Don’t get me started about the Gifted Education Program,” you start, already feeling yourself get heated even though there was a smile on your face, playing perfectly into the game that you and the guys had started to play. “It had to be one of the worst things, if not the worst thing that has ever happened to me. And all because of a fucking standardized test that I took when I was seven years old. What the hell kind of school system tells a child they’re ‘gifted’ because of a stupid test that they don’t care about? I mean, if Matthew here went to school with me and took the same test,” you start, looking over at him, feeling the heat rush to your face as you prepared for his reaction to what you were about to say, “He could have guessed on the entire test and been labelled as ‘gifted.’ Does he seem like someone who would be ‘gifted’ academically?”
The guys laughed around you as the two of you just stared at each other. Part of him hated how easily you were able to chirp him, knowing that he could never find it in him to chirp back.
“I mean, what the hell does the gifted program even do? It pulled me out of class and made me miss instruction time which I then had to teach myself what I missed. And for what? To be a defense lawyer for the Big Bad Wolf from the Three Little Pigs? I didn’t even get to plan what I said by myself: I was given a script and had to memorize it. How is that gifted education? What does that promote? When we read The Indian in the Cupboard? When we did math problems that we were told high schoolers had issues solving? Or, how about the way we wrote a newspaper every single week but since we only worked on it for thirty minutes, we never published a single issue. I don’t even know what my section of the paper was.”
You keep going on about the gifted program, the guys laughing more and more. Matthew couldn’t focus on what you were saying, he was too busy focused on your hand, which you didn’t even realize kept grazing his thigh, driving him crazy, just like everything else you did. He pulls out his phone, searching for Evelina’s contact.
‘Are you sure this list is going to work in my favor?’
She snaps out of listening to your rant, trying to catch her breath as she looked at her phone. Looking between you and Matthew, she smiles at him, the first look he was able to properly read: it will.
