Sometimes it’s hard to read fanfic when you’re studying herbalism.. when they have the character preparing a tincture to use that same DAY!!?

Baby those dried herbs need to sit in that jar with high proof alcohol for at LEAST a month!

That’s why before the use of calendars ppl use to prepare their tinctures either on the new moon or full moon. A a full moon cycle is usually 28 days or so. And they would give the moon names so it’s easier to remember when/what month said tincture was bottled.

This is also why herbal medicine is prepare in small batches. You have to take your time preparing your bottles. Making sure everything is clean so you don’t end up with mold. Diluting your grain alcohol. Heckkk knowing when to pick your herbs for max potency! Drying your herbs! That takes a lot of time too!

shadow bandee design i made awhile ago :D (jan 17th, 24)

i feel like mirror bandee would be very skilled without putting the effort in, getting where they are by power, instead of earning it through putting the work in. this would lead to them becoming over-confident and become the cause their biggest weakness. a friend pointed out this would mirror dedede in the beginning of the series too!

#not the usual type of thing i post.. but i like seeing peoples headcanons. why not post mine #kirby #bandana dee #mirror world #im not sure how i feel about the mirror design..? it takes aspects of dmk skirby and shadow ddd #like with the over abundances of greys and reds. and dmks yellow eyes. it eases the usage of the first two colors #and the different bandana.. i didnt want the same thing as his counterpart. it doesnt tell characterization #just like how dmks mask is broken. and the red bandana can add to shadow ddds red in his design. to show hes apart of the kingdom #ahh ahh the different weapon too.. they all have different weapons dont they? its just something simple to show characterization.#a weapon doesnt need to be overcomplicated.. this just shows enough to tell where he is at this point #the eyes probably look edgy.. looking at the other mirror counterparts eyes theres usually something different about them #sorry for the design analysis i love rambling. kind of crazy how i hate talking in a public area though LOL #gamezz.txt #fanart

talking to macdennis shippers makes me realize how much more i enjoy charden lmfao

#i love early seasons macden a lot but i think they sort of. fucked mcdn beyond repair in a lot of ways #where they Need to derail the show and do some genuine repairs #if theyd stayed the way they were in s5 itd be like oh yeah nbd theyre fucking lol #but now its. complicated #which isn't inherently bad but i think theres so much to unpack that its just like. if its not done right its going to be a disaster #charden have remained actual friends #it doesn't feel like a huge jump for them to be on good terms #but everyone immediately assumes something must have happened offscreen if macden are getting along #like. its overcomplicated! idk! i think dennis' entire character is overcomplicated #and it makes it really hard because he is So established to just have a fun plot #also i think theyve slowly fucked mac's character and have no intention of fixing it like they have with charlie and dennis' characters #like charlie was made Too Dumb and theyve been remedying that by making him a little more grounded and serious #dennis was Too Angry and they're remedying it by having him develop a way of burning off pressure without exploding #but everything theyve developed for mac has just sort of been left behind #if there was a moment to show how he'd changed it wouldve been post mfhp but it almost seemed like it was a complete reversal #he devolved lol #he was definitely like. better. in s16. but he's lost so much complexity while the others have gained more #and it feels incredibly unbalanced #dee is just a nothing character now too which (while i disagree with a lot of the complaints abt her in s16) can be seen clearly now #but mac is just.#okay im done rambling bye #ada speaks #idk how to explain but macden as a dynamic feels like it holds both of their characters back #and it rarely brings anything new or interesting to the table #dennis shows a different side of himself around charlie #but he is. mostly just angry or exasperated around mac

How's that WIP going with little Ariel, exhausted Daddy Snape, and the monster in the closet?

Stay hydrated.

It’s become a monster - no pun intended. I had posted some progress of it here a while back. I did title it though! It’ll be called “the splintering.”

I’ve had to work on it in small, isolated sections, because it has become a metaphor for grief and got very heavy at points - little Ariel discovers the monster in the closet, Snape doesn’t believe her, and the monster starts to - change.

This is all in the aftermath of Lily’s death, which happens a year prior to the story, meaning that Snape and Ariel lost her when Ariel was 7. So I had to create a whole backstory about THAT and what happened - why Snape survived and how him being involved from the beginning changed the trajectory of Ariel being Marked - and even Harry makes an appearance.

It’ll be around 10 chapters, 100k words. I will be working on it heavily over the summer and would like to start posting in the fall (but we’ll see). I’m trying to make most of the headway on Aim & Ignite right now because I need to get PoA moving here, I’m already so behind with my outline. 😫

“Stay hydrated,” is very good advice - I literally forgot to eat yesterday. My students just came in this morning and said “Whoa, Mrs. B, are you okay?” and the answer is no children, I am alive but barely breathing LOL.
