Tumblr media
“O-Oh fuck noona I’m gonna cum ahh” he moans loudly as you feel him twitching inside you, His cock feels so good buried deep inside you.
Oh you love your boy so much.
He makes you feel so good, makes you feel like the most desirable woman in the world, his love makes you feel complete. Especially when he’s so desperate? Jungkook is a different man.
Everything about him changes and every emotion inside his brain, body and heart intensifies. You’ve been together for so many years and you never thought that you would fall in love so deeply with him.
Someone so scarred like him, you know that he thinks of you as an angel, but you’re not less flawed than him, there are some scars in your heart that he can never see.
Some scars may heal on your body with time, but never in your heart-and your past relationships have given you some deep deep scars, right on your heart
Your heart Which is now in jungkooks warm, gentle hands.
“Oh fuck koo- you make me feel so fucking good ugh.” you know he’s intense.
You have fallen from grace, right into the deepest pits of Hell where the most fucked up sinners reside but he’s by your side and he lights up every single corner of your hell like it’s heaven.
And you know that he’s always gonna be with you. Because you know why? This man cannot live without you.
You hold such power over him that- you have become the reason for his ruin.
The thing is that he’s your light and you’re his darkness, you are a darkness that he never wants to escape.
You moan out in pleasure as he thrusts inside you for the nth time.
Jungkooks pace is merciless, rough and fast. He’s fucking you like a sex crazed man, and you love that about him because no part of your body is ever left unsatisfied or unloved by him.
It’s almost like he triggers the heat inside you and you’re a human being, “nghh fuck yn- ugh yeah.. only I can..” he groans, his lips finding your neck and he bites on your bruises marked flesh hard.
It doesn’t hurt, it feels so fucking good, he is marking you and you feel like you belong to someone, And to belong to someone, it’s the best feeling in the world.
Especially when it’s him.
You are not alone anymore, you are not abandoned anymore, you belong to Jungkook in every single way possible.
He begins to whisper dirty lewd words into your ear, egging you on, leaving you on the verge of an edge.
You’re so close to cumming.
at this point your body hurts, you’re overstimulated, absolutely fucked out- but you can’t get enough- And you don’t want him to stop or get enough of you.
“Oh fuck mhmm I cannot get enough of you noona- ugh.” it is like he can Read your mind, it’s like he can dive into the darkest most explicit fantasies, buried deep inside your brain.
He knows exactly what to tell you, he lives in your heart of course he will know what you want to hear because your heart tells him everything.
“Oh baby please don’t fucking stop.” He’s like your stress reliever, Jungkook whimpers in your neck as he buries his head in the nape of your sweaty neck.
His breath is hot, tickling your skin, your walls flutter around him and he moans.
Jungkook is still fucking you with a burning passion, his head finally rises up from your neck and he pulls you into a deep sloppy searing kiss.
His teeth nibble on the flush meat of your swollen lips, his kisses are like oxygen to you.
You kiss him back, your nails scratching his back, you’re pretty sure he’s bleeding, because he moans into your mouth, you pull him in closer to your naked body.
You never want to let him go.
And the best part is about this is that he doesn’t want you to let him go.
You are pretty sure that if you try to let him go, he will actually kill you.
Of course, you know what your boyfriend is capable of.
“‘M gonna cum please oh..” you break the kiss and soon he confesses, you mewl, looking at him with your lustful eyes.
“Cum deep inside me. Knock me up.” You whisper in his ear and as soon as you say those words, you can see goosebumps appear on his flawless skin. He growls looking at you, something in his eyes darken, he actually looks animalistic now.
He is now in a different habitat. Which is really rare.
“Fuck- breed…” he whimpers, and just like that- the bed actually starts to shake, hitting against the wall as your moans fill the room.
This is what you love the most about him, his always burning passion for you. Honestly, it’s astonishing how someone is capable of loving someone so much like this.
It is astonishing that is he is capable of loving you so much like this.
“I love you so much. I love you so much…” and that’s all it takes for you to cream around his dick soon, your orgasm hits you like a brick- he cries out at the feeling of your arousal all over him and he kisses your face.
“such a good girl for me- ‘m so proud of you.” He cries out.
“Now cum for me koo…”
And before you can even recover from your own high, you feel him cum inside you, it’s euphoric with the way he fills you up completely.
The nature of your relationship goes from a 0 to 100 real quick and sometimes from extra sweet to fucking spicy.
And you wouldn’t want it another way
And just like that, you both hold each other so close so intimately, so in love and so satisfied, so fulfilled.

WOTTG SPOILERS AFTER THE CUT
.
.
.
Can you believe Rick is validating me in my Percy-is-the-most-empathic-character take? I have legal basis but boi does it feel nice to have canon confirmation.
Second that book was short af I got the gist of it all while reading for like an hour.
Third, we addressed everyone else’s trauma. Percy’s still the group therapist LMAO 😭😭😭
Fourth, my son is such a good kid yall, this is why I lose five years of my life when someone insults or when he insults himself jfc my child.
Im honestly still processing and I have to reread the ending. Did it address Percy’s issues? Im going to go with “a bit” and call it a night. I mean, I guess it did? Percy got to unload and help Gale and Hecuba. We got an insight to how he’s managing to stay up and fighting and good despite all the shit he’s put into. Honestly the fact that he saw the humanity in Gale and Hecuba, that he saw their pain and grief and thats what made them trust him, that is so good. And the way he related to them. Goodness. And it highlights again how good a person he is, how much he feels and cares. I mean, he cried cause he had to send Mrs O Leary away, I cant with this kid-
I supposed what Im left unsatisfied with is how he still perceives himself as dumb? Baby, you survived San Fran for two months as a homeless kid without memories and pursued by different monsters who cant die. Youre the furthest thing from dumb.
He cant see this of course and while it was slightly addressed(?) by Annabeth telling him to his face that she doesnt give him enough credit, that he’s pretty smart, I dont think thats enough for addressing this particular issue. There was a time in the middle that he almost snapped because he thought Annabeth probably thinks him too dumb to know what to do next. Which I understand is frustrating to him. But to be fair this book made him look at Annabeth for a solution a lot. Theres also little comments about how when he cant think of anything - which is every 60 seconds apparently according to him- he looks at Annabeth. This doesnt help the co dependent allegations LMAO. Idk, I will die on the Hill that Percy is one of the smartest people in the series, not just emotionally but also in strategy. And theres, of course, nothing wrong with looking at the genius strategist for answers. Ive mixed feelings because definitely this is more of a Percy-insecurity issue than an Annabeth-being-bossy issue. But okay. One more book, heres to hoping we get more heart to heart on that front because Im 999998% sure she doesnt mean to make him feel stupid, Percy’s just got a lot of demons to fight but this in particular they need to figure out together. Still, its obvious how much they care for each other still. If only Dave and Hana did not piss me off at the start Id probably be a little more lenient about this.
Annabeth’s fatal flaw also makes a comeback, we love to see it.
And Sally Estelle Jackson. Now we have to find out wth is Percy’s middle name cause if Sally has one odds are she gave her son too. Trust me. Im Filipino. Iykyk.
Lastly, while I will forever and ever and ever support the trio from pjotv (theyre perfect and have done nothing wrong ever) I can see Rick’s injecting their personalities into the books. Im not sure if he does this on purpose or just subconsciously LMAO. Some of Grover’s dialogue is definitely inspired by Aryan. Percy being Lanky? Walker through and through, especially with his growth spurt lmao, and Annabeth’s confidence? All Leah. I can see what Rick’s trying to do. Ive no opinion on this, just pointing it out. I do love love love the live action. Just. I can see you Rick. You aint slick.
So there. I probably would need to reread the book properly at some point.

Calm theory anon!!! So glad we got a break yesterday with a calm day. I did see a couple things I want to talk about though. One of those things is this thought that the reason why Luke and Nicola aren't currently dating is due to Luke. And the other thing I want to discuss is the shipping Nic with every single man she is standing next too. Nic and Luke are both flawed human beings. They are not perfect. They make mistakes and sometimes they even hurt people (by accident). I say this I see so much hate speech directed at Luke as if he the one that said Nicola wasn't good enough. Let's look at what we know. We know they spent 5 years getting close and playing a couple that's in love. Five years is a long time to be in a character world. Then in their season they had to do something they were terrified of which is those love scenes. In order for those scenes to look real their bond had to get even stronger. Nic has said that Luke was protective and went out of his way to make her comfortable even though he himself was almost nude. So it's understandable after so many years they wouldn't understand if what they were feeling was their actual feelings or their characters. It was smart of them to take a break from each other. They are friends at the end of the day. They would never put their friendship on the line for confused feelings. Now Luke being blamed let's be honest. They both have experiences in love correct. And those experiences shape our thinking. We know Luke was in a serious long term relationship and I'm sure he has some scars from that relationship. Just as a I'm sure Nic has some scars as well. Hell she even said herself she was a cynic about love that the show has help her a bit. Both of them have work to do but my point is while the fans blame Luke how do we know they didn't make a decision to hold off until they knew what they felt was real feelings? They are putting their friendship on the line , and they work together. This a serious commitment that if they had a fall out comes with so many consequences. I personally think they are soul mates. And I think they know that. they either have more growing to do or they are trying offline. I truly believe everyone that comes into your life is either meant to be or a lesson. Nic has given us a lot of hints lately and people love it. The issue is she can't stand next to a man without shipping her with them. And that's why she trolled us with her post to her friend Dylan. She telling us to calm down. She will come out with who she dating it's inevitable. She wont be able to hide forever not with her fame. We myself included need to remember these are actual people. That are flawed and not perfect. They will figure it out or maybe they already have. We will know when they are stronger to deal with the masses.
I've talked about this a lot on my page, no notes!

I think part of the reason why Ten and Donna's relationship is so compelling to me is that they share the same main character flaw. In RTD's memoir, he described how he created each of the main companions with a central character flaw. Rose was selfish, Martha was selfless to the point of self-denial, and Donna was self-absorbed. And while all of those flaws were mirrored in Ten in different ways, I think Ten's central flaw was, like Donna, being incredibly self-absorbed.
While I don't dispute that Ten could be arrogant and vain, I think the degree to which he was those things sometimes get exaggerated. Every Doctor has had instances where they behaved arrogantly, as if they were the ultimate authority in the room and were owed everyone's attention and even unquestioned obedience. Many Doctors have preened over their looks or boasted about their intelligence and their achievements, whether as a strategic move or (more often) just because they felt like reminding everyone they were the smartest person around. Arrogance and vanity are recurring character traits across many of the Doctor's regenerations, and while Ten has displayed them more loudly and infamously than other Doctors, I think the unique flaw that better defines this regeneration's character was his propensity for getting completely caught up in himself.
Consistently throughout this regeneration, he ignored or just failed to recognize other people's needs because he was so preoccupied with his own issues. Infamously with Martha, but also with most of his companions past and present at some point (Sarah Jane, Mickey, Jack, Donna) and certainly with countless ordinary people that got caught up in the danger around him. The thing that makes this self-absorption rather than callousness or deliberate cruelty is that it wasn't because he considered unimportant. Ten frequently affirmed how important every life was and how valuable the most ordinary life was, and he really believed it. But as much as he believed it, he constantly struggled with the practice, with prioritizing ordinary people when he himself was embroiled in turmoil (whether active danger or his own personal issues). He believed fundamentally that each life had value and importance; he just saw whatever he was going through or doing at the moment as having even more value and more importance.
Ten didn't lack compassion for others. Indeed, he felt very strongly for people who were in distress and regularly put himself at risk to try and help them. But he often struggled to look beyond himself - his own concerns and demons and ego and fears. If someone's needs or feelings align with his own or seem to be relevant to the issue at hand? Good! He'll try to help if he can. But if someone's needs clash with his own, or their opinions challenge his own view, or their feelings push uncomfortably against his own emotional state? All of a sudden, he's very busy, he becomes rude and dismissive, he clams down, he acts ignorant, and if all else fails, he runs away.
The Chamelon arch storyline in "Human Nature"/"Family of Blood" is incredibly fascinating because John Smith embodied the Doctor's self-absorption on a much more recognizable, human scale. He was happy to be benevolent and kind when people acted within the sphere of what he knew. As a teacher, he recognized when a brilliant student was downplaying his intelligence to avoid attention from school bullies, and he tried to encourage Timothy within the bounds of what a teacher could do. But when people started disrupting his own little world of happiness -particularly Martha or his students interrupting romantic moments with Joan- then he became curt and dismissive and even more obstinate about his preferred way of things. All things that the Doctor also does, but which we notice less because he's usually the perspective we're rooting for to solve everything and save the day so is it really a big deal if he's rude towards another character? And then there's the original act of self-interest that Joan calls the Doctor out on at the end - he brought death and destruction to this village that he chose on a whim, without thinking of anyone else, all because he personally didn't want to confront the Family even though he was capable of stopping them.
All this to say that this flaw is part of what makes his relationship with Donna so compelling to watch. You have these two fundamentally self-absorbed characters on a journey together and they inspire each other to start doing better than they were before. They're growing together in the same direction with each other and because of each other. Donna, seeing the whole wide universe with all the good and the bad of it, realizing not only how small her worldview has been until now but then reaching out to make connections with people she wouldn't have given the time of day to before. The Doctor, absorbed with all his own burdens and traumas and memories and promises, being furiously and desperately shouted at by his best friend to do something. Save someone. It doesn't matter how small the act or how insignificant they are in the greater scheme of things. Never mind the greater scheme. Never mind us, never mind you. Just look at the person suffering in front of you now and help them.

Lily is a shitty friend because she refused to be friends with a guy who was a fucken racist to everyone but her? Would you defend a white person who liked one black girl but called every other black person a racial slur? Snape was a shitty character. The only people who can sympathize with him are those that have the same hatred within their hearts and can justify his actions. He was a horrible friend that got his ex best friend and husband killed, and bullied children because he was piece of 💩
Erm actually 🤓☝
Lily is a shitty friend because she refused to be friends with a guy who was a fucken racist to everyone but her?
She actually was a shitty friend because she smiled at her best friend being exposed
But too late; Snape had directed his wand straight at James; there was a flash of light and a gash appeared on the side of James’s face, spattering his robes with blood. James whirled about; a second flash of light later, Snape was hanging upside down in the air, his robes falling over his head to reveal skinny, pallid legs and a pair of graying underpants. Many people in the small crowd watching cheered. Sirius, James, and Wormtail roared with laughter. Lily, whose furious expression had twitched for an instant as though she was going to smile, said, “Let him down!”
Excused his bullies' behaviour
“I’m just trying to show you they’re not as wonderful as everyone seems to think they are.” The intensity of his gaze made her blush. “They don’t use Dark Magic, though.” She dropped her voice. “And you’re being really ungrateful. I heard what happened the other night. You went sneaking down that tunnel by the Whomping Willow, and James Potter saved you from whatever’s down there—”
And ended up with his bully in the end, don't tell me "She didn't owe him anything", anyone who had a friend who was bullied will tell you that they wouldn't date their ex-best friend's bully. She had the right to leave Severus, I am not against it, but she had a part in the breaking up but as always didn't take responsibility of it (she actually does it a lot somehow).
Would you defend a white person who liked one black girl but called every other black person a racial slur?
No, because that's not the case here. Here is a mixed-race boy, who has been put into a white neighbourhood, there the white people are pretty nice to him but will be mean to black people, they tell him to join them. He knows that his best friend is black but since other black people were mean to him (his father and his best friend's sister), he doesn't see anything wrong with it. Know the difference (not that I excuse racism but here is a different case than the one you're pointing out).
The only people who can sympathize with him are those that have the same hatred within their hearts and can justify his actions.
Liking a character doesn't mean you support what he does, I love Bellatrix and Lucius, but I do not support their pureblood supremacy views and think they have no redeeming qualities whatsoever, I like them because I like villains. No one justify his actions, they explain his reasons, is it justifying? No, because it's not right, but why liking a complex character if you don't understand his complexity?
He was a horrible friend that got his ex best friend and husband killed
Actually, their whole friendship was toxic, Lily wasn't an angel, Severus wasn't a demon, they both were human and had their flaws. Stop pointing to Severus and ignore Lily's faults. Do I really have to go back on the "Severus got Jily killed!!1!1!"?? Many other people explained this part already, go see their blogs instead.
and bullied children because he was piece of 💩
He actually bullied children because he wasn't totally right mentally, and he mostly is just blunt with kids because yeah Potions is extra dangerous and if you fuck one single thing up you could blow the whole ass school. Does it make his insults right? No. Does it make his temper more understandable? Yeah.
Thanks for that ask, it was my first snater ask, I'm so happy I'll frame it in my room <3

in general if your response to a certain type of character, especially any form of minority, is literally any variation whatsoever of "that doesn't exist/wouldn't be allowed in this setting" you're being a bigoted piece of shit. just to be super clear. and because my adderall is in full effect rn i will even do you the favor of going over some reasons why your reasoning is not only flawed and inaccurate to begin with, but extremely harmful to entire groups of people you claim to care about.
"that doesn't exist" first of all, who fucking cares if a piece of media has never depicted a lesbian or a nonbinary person or a black person in xyz region/world? just because the creators didn't do it doesn't make it Canonical Law. also, regardless of how fantastical and fictional a setting is, its audience will ALWAYS be from planet earth where lesbians and nonbinary people and black people exist, and those people's feelings and their deservingness to see and put themselves in their favorite stories IS, in fact, more important than some white-ass cishet make believe world.
"it wouldn't be allowed" subtler issue, but an issue nonetheless. just because the setting is hostile TO certain groups of people does not mean those people do not exist there. ask yourself, what is so important to you about certain kinds of people either not existing period, or having to be miserable (closet themselves, conceal certain features, etc), in a given setting. why is that so important to you. why do you think these people can only exist if they hate themselves and/or live their lives suffocated by the world around them. why is it so "lore incompliant" or "immersion breaking" to you. why are you so concerned with upholding real or perceived prejudices in a fictional society if you claim to care about the real people who these prejudices affect. "realism"? see point one.
NONE of the reasons you make up to justify your reinforcement of real world bigotry in a pretend world are even reasons that would ACTUALLY bar xyz group of people from existing in said world. ishgard only shut its gates to the rest of the world for 15 years before ARR. old sharlayan accepted people from tural into its closed society. the ancients could literally conjure up whatever the fuck they wanted inside and outside their bodies. fantasias are a canonical item in the game, as per the quest that literally talks about them and then gives you one. there are HUNDREDS of perfectly lore compliant ways any given type of person could be in any given setting. but more importantly, people shouldn't need to justify why things like sexuality or skin color CAN exist in a given setting, because if you're not harboring some very bigoted ideas about how minorities are allowed to or "supposed" to exist, you don't fucking care about shit like this. it's stupid, inaccurate, and most of all, just plain cruel to the very real people behind these characters.
racism, transphobia, etc already exist in staggering abundance in the real world; you do not need to enforce that cruelty in a random fucking video game unless you have some very fucked up feelings about those groups of people festering in your brain. if you're not a member of those groups, shame on you, do better to support your fellow human beings. if you ARE a member of those groups, i am so fucking sorry the world has rotted your sense of self so deeply as to make you believe you can only exist in misery. i really, sincerely hope you're able to work through that and know that your existence is an inherently joyful, beautiful thing, and people like you deserve to get to exist peacefully, everywhere in the real world and in any and all fictional settings. i know finding worth in ourselves is too often an extremely difficult process, so i ask instead that you start with others like you. be kind to them, support them, find things about them that you admire, and try to see yourself in them. you deserve to get to heal from the insidious, evil things this world has poisoned your heart with.

Hi bcac ! I was wondering if you had any idea or guess as to how much Sam and Catriona have made in salary for their work in Outlander. Honest question as I have no idea. Thank you for your blog- I love coming here and learning about things although on a personal level have become disappointed in Sam. You have such interesting posts and just wanted to say thank you!
Thank you for the compliments, nice to hear you enjoy my blog and find my posts interesting. I think more started feeling kinda disappointed in him, but then again, he's just a human being with his good things and his flaws as well. He's not anybody's book bf and many fans have put him on a somewhat unrealistic pedestal perhaps.
For your question about their earnings for the work on OL. It's not an easy question to answer, there are only guesses as I'm sure nobody but the persons involved are aware of what's in their contracts.
If you google a question like 'how much earns SH per episode' you will learn that there are many figures floating around. From one reporting $1 million per episode (which seems very unrealistic to me) to another reporting a $100.000 per episode. The latter one is probably more realistic, though that was reported in 2019. I'm sure it has been renegotiated over the years, with less salary per episode at the start and probably more since the last seasons as they have been EP's as well. (and as we know Catriona directing an episode in the final season as well).
That said it's not that easy to do the math, take an average and multiply by 101 episodes, as I think other things should be taken into account as well. Like earnings for photoshoots, cons, interviews etc.
What I can tell is what the public figures are for Sam's private company Cairn Mor Creative LTD, which he incorporated in 2015 for his earnings as an actor. Financial data are stored and public for anyone to see. Though one have to take into account that this isn't solely for his work on Outlander, but for the movies and tv series he worked on as well.
Anyway those figures show a net assets of £87.625 in 2016 to a £5.5M at the latest filing of the total accounts. (March 2023)
Tumblr media
in another diagram you see the growth from 2019 - 2023
Tumblr media
(*the drop in 2021/2022 is mostly due to Covid)
So it's not only his earnings on OL but other work as well. His earnings for projects like his booze business are not included in this company, as they are part of GGC (for which there are no public financial records as far as I know)
I don't have any knowledge for Catriona owning a similar company dedicated to her work as actress. But it's said they always negotiated equal payment for their work on OL.
Anyway while it isn't exactly what you asked for (we can only make a more or less educated guesses to that), I hope this will give you at least some idea.

Do you think that one of the reasons Luke and Thalia were so close on the run was that Thalia seeks out power/control, and Luke was willing to give her almost complete control over him? And a reason for why Thalia had her "I don't recognize you anymore" line aswell as suddenly turning so hostile being that she no longer had that control over Luke's actions?
Yes, I do think part of Luke's appeal for Thalia was that he did whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted it.
Maybe equally important was that Luke didn't stop Thalia from doing what she wanted. In Demigod Diaries, Thalia makes them follow a goat around for three days before Luke even asks why they're following it. When Thalia wants to go into Hal's house, Luke thinks it's a bad idea but he goes with her.
Luke's devotion to Thalia is such that she almost killed him - like actually, for real, with powers she can't control - and he stayed by her side. He didn't even blame her for it. Luke also took her to May's house when she needed help, a place it's pretty clear that Luke never meant to return to (and according to Hermes isn't welcome at).
Part of it may be her "fatal flaw" or whatever but I think it may be even simpler than that.
Thalia being power hungry for the sake of having power and that being her "fatal flaw" doesn't even really make sense because she really only uses what little power she has to take control of (or to save) her own life.
I hate talking about Beryl because she's so pathetic and a sorry excuse for a human, let alone a parent. But Beryl is a large part of the reason Thalia is how she is. She tried to baby-trap Zeus with Thalia and when that didn't work, she turned to drinking (or drinking more heavily, I guess). But like, she's another mortal parent who didn't want her kids (thinking about Frederick but like at least Beryl knew kids were a possibility the poor man). She didn't want Thalia and she didn't want Jason, they were just the side effects of getting to have Zeus/Jupiter for a moment.
Growing up with an alcoholic mother and an absentee father and a lost/dead infant brother (I dont remember what they did to Jason when they took him away but I seem to recall Thalia was either kept in the dark or lied to about it), Thalia had no control and no one who put her first in her life.
Luke was the first person to put Thalia before themselves.
Also it's pretty explicitly said that Luke is a gift (or a prize or a weapon, whichever you like) to Thalia from Zeus. Zeus led Thalia to Luke using the goat. Zeus led Thalia to her magic shield using the goat. Thalia actually says Zeus led her to Luke specifically.
As for her "this isn't you" line...aside from my opinion that it (Thalia siding with the Olympians at all) was spawned entirely because Chiron brainwashed Thalia...I think if Luke had been there (either because the rebellion never started or because he actually got to put the fleece on her tree himself and was there when she was birthed from the tree) then Thalia would have sang a different tune.
She was asleep and her dog was not there waiting for her when she woke up. That's out of character for Luke and Thalia would probably take it as a sign that he's no longer loyal to her personally (especially after Hal saying that Luke would betray someone and planting that idea in Thalia's head).
Now the puppy daddy got her is a full-grown dog with grownup dog teeth, and everyone is telling her that he's rabid, that he needs to be put down. And Thalia agrees.

Tragic heroes, and why the sons of Fëanor are the heroes of the Silm (ok, the Finwëans)
A few rambling thoughts on the respective merits of Doriath vs the Fëanorians/Finwëans, differences between LOTR and the Silm and different types of heroes.
We can all agree that LOTR is about small, ordinary people, who against all odds manage to defeat Evil thanks to their courage and moral qualities. LOTR’s universe is quite simple, morally wise : there are the good guys, who have their weaknesses but a lot of courage and an infallible moral compass, and the evil ones, who have no redeeming qualities, and in fact no human traits at all (Sauron is an Evil Eye ; he is served by faceless wraith, at times riding monsters, and is served by armies of non-human monsters). We are offered a very brief glimpse of a slightly more complicated picture morally, when we see the Easterlings (human, non-dead servants of evil, and we are made to wonder what motivates them to serve Sauron), but it’s only a parenthesis. The heroes have weaknesses of course, they are afraid, and it makes them great, but they are all morally upright, and right. They rarely, if ever, makes mistakes, and they are rarely, if ever, wrong (especially morally).
The Silm is another beast entirely. It’s not a story about plucky underdogs defeating Evil, it’s a mash-up of genres from creation myth to mythology to epic to, uh, magical ladies and their magical talking dog.
But I think that, overall, the Silm belongs to the tragic genre, and deals with tragic heroes (a Christian tragedy with a side of Fall, but I’m not going to get into that).
Tragic heroes typically have several characteristics : they are important people (royals, people in power) ; they make bad decisions, and suffer because of them, while not being morally evil ; they often make mistakes (and suffer) because of hybris (pride, arrogance). They have great potential, but make a mess of it. They have flaws, but are not evil.
We, as readers/audience, are meant to sympathise with them. “You’re only saying that because they’re hot”. Yes, duh. They are princes and kings and they’re hot and talented, and then they make bad decisions and they die. That’s the whole point of tragedy.
And I would argue that these characteristics apply to all of the main characters of the story.
They all, Morgoth included, have great potential. Yes, even the bad guy of the Silm is not the pure Evil of Sauron in LOTR, he had the potential to be the best, but…pride and bad choices. He ends up being unredeemably evil of course, but it’s gradual,  and it’s a Miltonian Satan we have here (Milton’s Paradise Lost’s Satan is often described as the “hero” of the poem, a tragic one, of course), not the faceless pure Evil of LOTR (plus, he gets chased by a giant spider and has a door flung into his face).
Fëanor is the greatest Elf ever; his sons start with amazing potential. Among the other Finwëans,  Fingolfin is the best at fighting, until he gets squished by Morgoth’s foot. Fingon is a true, galant hero, doing magical rescues and fighting dragons, until he gets slaughtered in battle and trampled under his foes. Finrod is “the wise”, who ends up fighting a werewolf to the death with his teeth after following an ill-devised plan to fulfil a silly oath he took (and he knew swearing an oath was a bad idea ! He told the Fëanorians ! He told Galadriel !).
They all make bad decisions, and mistakes, Valar included (oh dear, do they make mistakes ! And they know it !). Even the best of guys (according to the narration) made bad decisions : Thingol, Elwing and Dior all make the choice of hanging on to that damned Silmaril, with terrible consequences for them (Melian told them not to !). Obviously, Fëanor and his sons make the stupidest of oaths. Finwë gets remarried (Indis marries him). Turgon decides, for some reason, not to listen to Ulmo. Obviously, I could go on…
There are, of course, a few characters who do no wrong, but I would argue that they are very peripheral to the story :
There are, of course, the ones who suffer through no fault of their own at all : Elured and Elurin, the nameless people who get killed in Doriath and Sirion (wrong place, wrong time), the nameless, countless ones who are abducted/killed/tortured by Morgoth. But the Silm, like all tragedies, does not focus on these people (we’re only interested in Important People here, not the nameless victims of the decisions made by others).
Elured and Elurin are a pathetic touch, and tragic figures, but they are not the heroes of the story, just like Astyanax is not the hero of the Illiad (his parents and his killers are) or Oedipus’ dad is not the hero of Oedipus Rex. Or like, Desdemona is not the heroine of Othello (it’s Othello). I could go on (the princes in the Tower are not the heroes of Richard III !)
Galadriel is in the Silm like the characters that survive at the end of Hamlet : the only reason they are still there is because they didn’t do much, and do not matter very much to the story.
Eärendil is a a true, non-tragic hero, but it’s not his story.
The only characters that are given some limelight are the ones who get to make the decision that provokes their downfall. Some make bad decisions, but are not morally guilty of anything, and get rewarded by the narration. Elwing, for instance, gets enough screen time to flee from the Fëanorians in Doriath with the Silmaril, marry, have children, refuse to return the Silmaril, have her own personal tragedy episode II, then her almost-happily ever after because even though she made bad choices, she is not morally guilty of anything, and she can be rewarded by the story. Finrod gets reembodied quickly and reunited with his father (he’s only guilty of minor rebellion and is otherwise a great guy). Fingon took part in Alqualondë so I guess he’ll have to wait a bit more (but we don’t know, it’s all speculations).
Others are less lucky. The Fëanorians, obviously, not only made bad decisions but also committed atrocities, so no happy ending for them. Húrin and his children get awfully punished for transgressions not of their own will (murder, incest). They are, arguably, the most tragic of the lot.
The Tale of Beren and Lúthien is of course the antithesis of what I’ve just said, and I think that’s partly why it feels jarring for the non-fans. Tolkien knows it, who go like “and now, on a completely different tone amid all the tragedy and destruction…”
Lúthien makes no wrong choice, ever, does not make bad decisions (except for insisting on wearing a Silmaril that makes her die more quickly, but that’s an aside). She’s a magical lady with no flaws (note that she’s not really given human qualities : she’s not brave or clever in any realistic way, she’s got magic instead), Beren is a great guy with no flaws who follows her lead. They swoop in into Angband (Boromir would have been livid), confront superlative odds (evil dark lord of all bad creatures Sauron, Morgoth in his Satan stage, death and destiny to finish with) and win effortlessly. There are a few moustache twirling villains (Curufin and Celegorm, who stop being tragic heroes to become the bad guys in a historical novel), Lúthien’s dad is against the lovers being together, but we know that they’re going to win in the end. They have a magical talking dog.
I’m not criticising people who love Beren and Lúthien (I don’t, I belong to the Jane Austen school of “pictures of perfection make me sick and wicked), but it’s a bit like if the action suddenly stopped in Othello or Macbeth to have a brief interlude of A Winter’s Tale. Of course A Winter’s Tale is great, but we were in the middle of something else.
So, to finish with… The Silmarillion is all about tragic, flawed, tragic characters, who make bad choices (mostly out of pride) and are punished for them. So, of course, the Finwëans are like… poster boys for that.
I haven’t touched on the curse and fate elements there, but it’s another characteristic of Greek tragic heroes that they suffer as the result of a family curse, and Fate. In the Silm, both of these elements are present : there are references to fate, without much precision about the exact meaning of the word, and of course the Finwëans are under the effects of the Doom, and the Fëanorians of the Oath, without any of these two elements being explicitly defined and explained. We simply don’t know what the exact nature of each is (how magical, binding they are in particular). It’s another key element of tragedy, usually : the conflict between free will, the desire to do good, and the effect of a curse/fate, and to what extent the characters’ actions are informed/influenced by each of these elements.
I’ll just finish with the very obvious point that none of these people are real, and therefore nothing that they do “has to be”. Tolkien didn’t have to have the sons of Fëanor swear an oath (they could just murder because they think it’s expedient, or because they are bad) ; he could have shown us the sons of Fëanor attacking Doriath the minute they had a Silmaril, without negotiations ; he didn’t have to tell us that they sent a message to Elwing of “friendship yet of Stern Demand” ; he didn’t have to write about Maglor raising E&E, and he did not have to show us the last two sons of Fëanor, alone and having lost everything, driven to despair. He could have shown us the sons of Fëanor randomly attacking their neighbours out of greed, or cruelty. He could have written Elwing as a passive victim whose entire family was killed  without warning because her evil orc-like neighbours wanted to rob her of her family possessions (like, their OWN stuff)… But that’s not what he wrote.

I really wish Fairly Odd parents was either Written by Dana Terrance or the ppl who wrote Infinity Train. I would truly trust them both to bring a slightly serious yet still sitcomey feel to Fairly odd parents. Like the huge flaw with Fairly Odd Parents was how little consistently it actually held, Spongebob is in a similar format, but that's cause its about a literal pineapple under the sea, there was never the looming threat of growing up and losing your found family. There was never the whole "Timmy tries to make his environment happier." It is purely cause of the initial plot, while yes it can be fun and happy and should be made into a bunch of adventures, the CONTINUITY of it- the actual idea that maybe Vicky does slightly become better, maybe Trxie isn't a one-dimensional popular girl, maybe his parents do actually realize what their doing OR his parents double down (either one would be good). Have Timmy's character arc stick. Have his wishes become more selfless or hell have him wish in general less and less but uh oh! Trouble still follows him cause he's Timmy Turner! Hes made a MILLION of Fantastical enemies throughout the years, there's endless ideas of Conflicts you can do with it! HAVE THE FINALE HE STAYS A HUMAN BUT HE STILL REMEMBERS COSMO AND WANDA CAUSE YOU AREA ALLOWED TO CHOOSE YOUR FAMILY!!!!!!!!!! Oh and also remove all the we hate Wanda shit, like Wanda is my girl never call her ugly AGAIN!!

cannot articulate my thoughts for the life of me so sorry for this one.
i think killing bunny was the catalyst for henry’s breakdown which seems strange because if anything henry seems the most blasé about the entire affair. however i think in a way henry and bunny are narrative foils of each other. bunny is all-american, “unintelligent”, athletic, WASP-y, big family, conservative, unserious like 24/7 yet in hindsight the most normal and stable of the group and thought to be wealthy. whereas henry is quite LITERALLY rather uneasy on the eyes, chronically ill, small and unloving family, very rich, very solemn, rather liberal about his sexuality (the whole bacchanal…) and SUPER detached from reality, quite literally making him the most unstable. because who in their right mind kills someone and is like “arghhh that was so freaking epic 😍😍😍”
and i think it comes from this greek/shakespearean idea of temperaments and different moods, the idea two people can balance each other out because they’re tied together by some transcendental string. by killing bunny, he’s immediately sick by it as his migraines come on and he acts weird at the funeral (i think from both the stress and the guilt). i mean the dude literally wipes grave dirt on himself, and i think it’s because he’s SO unstable and unbalanced that he’s entirely vacant and detached, completely ungrounded from reality, because BUNNY was the one who grounded him, who told him “bro this is insane”, who was the constant reminder that henry is unfortunately human, a human with flaws and weaknesses, not a god.
i think then that it’s also interesting that henry is sort of above love, especially heterosexual love. yes he “loves” camilla but it’s in a really weird, unbalanced way. iirc (it’s been a few months since i read the novel) most of them are a bit shocked by it. henry even refuses to acknowledge it (that whole fuck scene with charles). he seems entirely disinterested in camilla as a person and sees her more as something to protect, something to fuel his saviour/god complex. what i then find interesting is that when camilla and charles start to rebel against this, and he can’t kill charles or camilla (camilla thought he would) to get rid of this evidence that he isn’t a perfect protector, a perfect person, he kills himself, which in a way protects the rest of the group.
unlike richard, who later believed henry brought him into the murder so he could perhaps make a scapegoat of him, henry completely excludes bunny from ANYTHING that involves the bacchanal and the murder, despite bunny being his oldest friend and closest for the most part friend. i think it’s been said quite a bit that bunny could’ve been a little less horrified by the murder if he was just included in the bacchanal, because he’s so clingy and has serious rejection issues. i think, in a weird way, henry was trying to protect bunny but also protect bunny’s perception of him as a “good friend” who had his back - ie his protector. and as soon as bunny’s rose-tinted glasses are broken, henry turns the tide against him and kills bunny.
richard mentions a fatal flaw a lot, the thing that sets a character spiraling and usually kills them. however, none of the mains die except for henry and bunny - most of them live miserable, but free, lives. they’re protected by bunny and henry’s sacrifice. they will forever perceive henry as their saviour in a way, even if he had to die for it, even if bunny had to die to preserve this perception. ultimately, bunny (and bunny’s death) was the reason the group got into so much shit, the reason henry had to die. bunny was his weakness - the thing that kept him stable by calling out his blatant flaws and god complex, the thing that, by dying, therefore lead to his detachment from reality and eventual death. so therefore i don’t think henry’s fatal flaw is his detachment; i think it’s bunny.

This is going to be long/a rant.
I dislike all the ships. Even Percabeth, heck, especially Percabeth, even though I used to adore them. I read most of RRVerse when I was younger but now that I am rereading them as an adult with actual healthy relationships... I just feel as though they're not necessary to push the plot (Caleo, Frazel, Solangelo, you name it).
Or even good.
All characters have the potential to be very interesting and have more nuanced arcs that are not dependent on romance but noooo.
They need to be paired off.
The MC needs to get the pretty girl.
I believe that majority of Percabeth shippers only ship it either because it's canon, Riordan based it on his relationship with his wife, they ignore all the blinding red flags that could be seen if they just... read the book and actually think about what's happening instead of just taking the words at face value.
Luke's redemption is undeserved. And I'm pretty sure I like Luke more than the average PJO fan.
If it was ever even hinted in PJO that he cared instead of acting akin to a cartoon villain, it might have been more realistic.
Show him struggling against Kronos when it showed that the titan was no better than the Olympians. Show him caring for the TA, the demigods that the books claims he wanted to have a better life (Ethan, Alabaster, etc.)
He was fighting for a good cause, only it felt like Riordan didn't even know where to go with the guy. The majority of his characterization are seen through fans that actually try to understand his ideals in the book and those who watched the TV.
The TV part because he didn't look like he meant any of the kids any harm and was only really there to recruit for the TA.
All the Olympians suck, except Hestia. Yes, even Poseidon. We only like him because he calls Percy his favorite, and even then why?
That doesn't make him any less unlikeable. He shouldn't have favorite children in the first place. I know it might seem silly to judge a non-human character using human standards but he's still a bad father.
The leap from TLO to CotG, where Poseidon tells Percy that he had a price to pay for being alive (paraphrasing)? No wonder the dude said Poseidon was his dad in name only.
Speaking of, Percy is not without fault either. His fatal flaw is supposed to be personal loyalty. But in HOO it basically turned into loyalty to Annabeth only.
Wtf was that treatment of Nico now? Telling the rest of the crew some stories to the point that it made some of them doubt if they should save Nico in the first place?
Like??? Dude, you spent THREE books making sure that you are the hero in the Great Prophecy so that Nico doesn't get it??? Hello???
Where did the Percy we grew up with go? He's just so obsessed with Annabeth now? Is that all he is now?
Am I the only one that sees this?
Someone please rewrite the entire series lol. I love the fanfics that stage a mutiny against Riordan's canon— making it more complex, nuanced and basically just better.

Dazai "I am not human for I am a demon and can never be even remotely as good or humane as they are" Osamu and Fyodor "I am incredibly human because things that make us human are the terrible things humans try to get rid of and not the idealistic concept that society created" Dostoyevsky. By the way.

Listen, I love Fiddlestan as much as the next guy, but where did we start getting the idea Ford was cold and dismissive towards Fidds during their time working on the portal???
I could totally be wrong because I haven't read every single GF related thing (hell, my journals aren't decoded because I'm a slacker), but like??? The first time he saw him, he bought him his favorite snacks *and* a whole ass banjo and said he'd make it his mission that Fiddleford would be comfortable in his home.
They go adventuring together and talk about things like fashion trends and the future and go stargazing.
Ford is *so* happy when Fiddleford returns that he hugs him immediately. Abd then he feels bad that Fiddleford feels bad about his failing marriage that he throws him a holiday party even though he doesn't celebrate and hates the holidays honestly. And he put on Fiddlefords favorite song (which he despises and honestly? ME TOO FORD. I HAVE BEEF WITH THAT SONG) and drank seemingly spiked eggnog with him despite not usually liking to drink. So that he could make Fiddleford feel better.
He also just openly adores everything Fiddleford does. Maybe it's only in his journals. You could argue he doesn't say it out loud but, like, he exclusively describes him as impressive all of the time-
And I get where it's coming from in like a "oh he's a workaholic who has the pressure of Bill breathing down his neck that he has to be working on the portal 24/7." And like yeah, but in the pages he's a workaholic he's a workaholic practically begging Fiddleford to stay up with him because he loves working along side him. Fiddleford and him work *together.*
Like the page where they're sorta fighting with each other because Ford wants to work more its not "leave me alone Fiddleford, I have to do this" it's "hey! How come you won't stay up with me! Ugh this is so unfair that you're going to bed even though you know I plan to continue working for another hour."
I'm just saying if Fiddleford wanted to cuddle, I imagine Ford's response would be "Oh! Awesome, I love spending time with him 🥰🥰🥰" but he'd just end up using Fidds' back as a table for his studies. Or they'd do that thing where one of them is working on a desk and they sit on one chair in each other's arms.
And, while we're here, realistically? Emotionally stunted, slapped by more women than He's dated, "I can't cry in front of people, and the only thing I'm good for is my fists." Stanley Pines??? He's not cuddling shit. He's got that toxic masculinity ingrained into him. It doesn't matter how incredibly touch starved he is, cuddling is too emotionally intimate and "girly" for him. Honestly if Fiddleford tried to cuddle him he'd probably throw him in a headlock because he's also been on the streets for years now with people constantly trying to attack him.
And I'm not saying this to diss on Fiddlestan. Again, I *like* Fiddlestan! But when I read "Ford could never appreciate him like Stan could" I don't understand it.
They so clearly bonded well together, and if Ford truly was being an asshole (or not an asshole, but just generally unpleasant even when he wasn't possessed) the whole time, I doubt Fiddleford would've stayed. Nostalgia and physical attraction can only get you so far, and Fidds is already facing the horrors in Gravity Falls, Stanford has to be a hell of an amazing person to make someone want to stay. Like, he's a grown adult. Sure he really wanted to impress Ford and allotted himself to be "the tech guy to Ford's smarts" but if he wanted to leave, he could've. And there didn't seem to much keeping him there. Especially when he was having doubts on the portal.
