Okay...

I'm going to be that person but am I seriously the only one who thinks that Quynh is not going to just suddenly forgive and forget ~500 years of torture by constant drowning, built-up rage and the resultant insanity/instability all because Andy cries and says she's sorry?

Because I don't think she would. However I see a LOT of that in the fandom.

I refuse to believe that Andy is going to die in the sequel so her and Quynh will eventually reconcile their relationship but it's just not going to happen in X number of minutes.

This lovely art made me think of Andromache and Quynh. Like they were trying to enjoy Rome, got too drunk, and ended up gladiators

Think this might be an unpopular opinion (re: Old Guard 2) but Force Multiplied left something to be desired story wise (I mean, the whole comic had a few issues that got ironed out in the first movie) and I’m not fully hating the idea of a white bad guy lady who has always sucked instead of Quynh popping out of the ocean and deciding she just kinda hates the world and that Andy owes her helping destroy it.

Noriko’s motives in the comic were pretty nonexisten. She didn’t even get Iron Maiden’s by a mob, she just fell overboard in a storm. Because of that, she disappeared for 500 years and came back with a giant chip on her shoulder.

I get the impression from the trailer that rather than making the villain a woman who was literally tortured into insanity by circumstances beyond any of the Guard’s control, the villain is someone who was handed the power of immortality and was completely corrupted by it, as power often does. I like the idea that the juxtaposition is that some people will be handed power and see it as a responsibility, and some people will be handed power and let it convince them that its just what they’re owed.

I mean, it’s Netflix so it might just be a money grubbing disaster, but I really want to have more faith in it than that.

So I finally got around to reading the graphic novels for The Old Guard and I don’t think I like the ending of Force Multiplied.

But if they’re already insisting there needs to be a third movie, I can see the sequel ending like that. But Andy is mortal in the movieverse so some stuff is already gonna have to change.

What I really did like though is Nicky and Joe(and Andy to a lesser extent) actually holding Copley responsible for his part in the whole Merrick mess.

I PRAY we get that in the sequel too because it bugged the hell out of me that they banished Booker but basically decided to give Copley a job and trust him with that just because he said “sorry” in the movie. That’s also different.

We need to talk about Andy‘s and Noriko‘s reunion in the comics though cause that shit is so messy and I love it.

Like Andy is basically making hearteyes the whole time while Noriko is speedrunning the lovers to enemies to lovers pipeline.

She‘s trying to kill Andy, she kisses Andy, she tortures Andy, Andy comes to mess up her shit, she goes back to Andy to help her.

It‘s just akdkdjsksjsj. I can’t with them. They‘re the best
