Freya never had a massage because she had to grow up fast. Her childhood was happy but short, ended with a terrible war that never really stopped even after she married an abuser. She was naive and paid another terrible price for it - by losing literally everything. She's just starting to live, exploring the world, having as normal life as possible considering everything she went through. She can finally properly grieve losing her son, her family, her world and all that was done to her too because there's a lot and it's not like she could do that being bound and cursed.
I hc Kratos being soft and gentle with her, even more than in a game because he's still learning and opening. He grieved with anger and killing responsible ones brought him comfort. She grieves with deep sadness and for the first time since she was little girl a man brings her comfort as Kratos arms are her safe heaven. The last person who made her feel safe was her father.
She teaches Kratos to connect with nature, relax, take a breath. And he teaches her what it means to be loved, for real this time.
Atreus is a big part in her healing as well. The boy is not hiding the fact that he sees her as a surrogate mother. He can read her too so he knows how she feels. If she's sad he can always do something about it - collect some flowers, give her a hug, take her to Jotunheim, take her hunting, send his father to bring her comfort or even ask Angbroda to come around so Freya can show her all kinds of plants for making all kinds of different colored paints.
Atreus version of comfort is being active and taking her mind off of sad things by doing fun stuff.
Kratos version is slow, almost stoic. Holding her, massaging her shoulders and back, sweetly relaxing her until she takes a nap on his chest, preferably under some tree, connected to the nature she loves so much.
She loves and enjoys both. And for the first time since before Aesir-Vanir war... she's happy and ready to start again.

(It might just be that I'm suddenly in a sappy, fluffy mood but I wanted to write something with Atreboda as adults and grandfather Kratos 🥺)
Atreus and Angrboda nervously stood in front of Kratos' home in Midgard, their infant daughter Hel wrapped securely in a soft blanket. The new parents' hearts raced with anticipation as they are going to introduce their precious little one to Kratos.
When they walked through the door, something seemed to shift in the air. Kratos was sitting in his usual spot by the fire, but as soon as he caught sight of Hel, his eyes grew wide with wonder and awe.
At first, no one spoke. The only sound was the soft cooing of the baby in Angrboda's arms. But then, slowly, Kratos rose from his seat and approached his son and daughter-in-law. Without a word, he reached out and gently touched Hel's tiny hand.
Kratos looked upon his new family with a sense of pride he had never felt before. He had watched Atreus grow into a strong and honorable man, and now seeing him as a father, Kratos couldn't help but feel emotional. Little Hel reminded him so much of Atreus when he was once that small and fragile.
As Hel's tiny hand reached out towards her grandfather, Kratos leaned down and cradled the infant in his arms. He felt a wave of warmth spread through his heart at the sight of her wide-eyed innocence.
'Welcome to the family, little one.' Kratos whispered, kissing Hel's forehead gently.
Atreus and Angrboda watched on with tears in their eyes as the fierce and intimidating warrior was now reduced to mush by their daughter's mere presence.
As they sat around the fire, Atreus and Angrboda recounted the story of Hel's birth. They spoke of the pain and fear they felt during the delivery, but also of the overwhelming love they felt when they first laid eyes on their precious daughter. Kratos listened intently, his heart swelling with pride and joy as he looked at his son and daughter-in-law. He couldn't believe how far Atreus and Angrboda had come since they set out on their journey together all those years ago.
As the evening drew to a close and it was time for the new family to depart, Kratos pulled Atreus into a tight hug and spoke to him quietly.
'My son... Words are not enough to describe how truly proud I feel.' Kratos said, his voice filled with emotion. 'You have not only become a great warrior, but a loving husband to your wife and a devoted father to your child. I will always be here for you and your family. No matter what.'
Atreus hugged his father back, feeling a rush of love and gratitude for everything Kratos had done for him throughout his life. Kratos also embraced Angbroda, his dearest daughter-in-law, whom he has grown very fond of. He is glad to have her in the family.
And as they finally parted ways, Kratos watched with a smile as Atreus, Angrboda, and little Hel walked away, looking forward to the many beautiful years of love, happiness, and adventure that lay ahead.
Anon. You 🥺 🥺 🥺  This is super adorable.

LIFE IN DALMASCA
Hati Hrodvitnir, born Hati Rehw-Nong, was raised at Golmore Jungle of Dalmasca as a warg of Worldy Ice. He's the son of Fenrir and Angrboda and the twin brother of Skoll. Like any wood warder, he underwent a strict training regimen to be worthy of his rank and obtain the privilege to protect the forest in which they inhabit. From the moment he was born, he followed naught but the guidance of the Wood Mother and lived by the Green Word, never betraying his faith.
GARLEAN OCCUPATION
The wind howled through the trees, as the Viera trudged through the dense forest, his cloak flapping behind him like a tattered banner. He had always been a wood warder, a protector of the forest, but now his home lay in ruins, destroyed as a result of the Garlean invasion. His people had been slaughtered, captured, or forced to flee, and Hati had fled with his twin brother, Skoll, hoping to find safety and forgiveness from the Wood Mother for betraying their oath of never leaving their borders. But safety had been elusive, and the brothers had been on the run ever since, moving from one hiding place to another. They had promised each other to stick together no matter what, but one morning, Hati had woken up to find Skoll gone without a word. His heart had sunk as he searched for his brother, but there was no trace of him. His confusion soon turned to hurt and betrayal. Had Skoll abandoned him, breaking their promise to stay together? Why would he leave so abruptly? These thoughts haunted him as he continued to search for Skoll, not knowing where to start or where to go. Despite his dwindling strength, he refused to give up on his search. He wandered through forests and mountains but the only answer he received was silence. From the soils of his destroyed home and from the Wood Mother herself. It was when Hati was at his weakest, his hope all but gone, that the Garlean Empire caught up with him. They overpowered him, his years of training as a wood warder no match for their advanced weapons and machineries. He was captured and thrown into a dark, damp cell in the Resonatorium at Ala Mhigo.
FENRIR AND ANGBRODA'S FATE
The wind howled through the trees as Fenrir, the wood warder, stood watch over the forest he called home. He was a man of few words, preferring the company of the trees and animals to that of his fellow Viera. But when the Garleans came to invade Dalmasca, he knew that he had to take action. Fenrir fought with all his might to protect the forest from the invaders, wielding his axe with deadly accuracy. But when he saw his beloved wife Angrboda fall in battle, something inside him snapped. The overwhelming amount of aether that filled the air triggered his Mist Frenzy, and he transformed into the legendary wolf of the forest. The once-proud wood warder was now a bloodthirsty beast, tearing through the Garlean ranks with abandon. His fur and mouth were stained with the blood of his enemies, and he could no longer tell friend from foe. The guilt of his actions weighed heavily on his heart, but he could not stop himself. Eventually, Fenrir fled from his home, unable to face the man he used to be. He made his way to Coerthas, where the icy landscape of Snowcloak became his new domain. But even there, he could not escape his past. When the Warrior of Light arrived in Snowcloak, Fenrir knew that his time had come. He fought with all his remaining strength, but in the end, he was defeated. As he lay dying, he knew that he had finally found peace. His rage and guilt were gone, and he was free to be reunited with his beloved Angrboda once more.
SKOLL'S DESCEND TO MADNESS
Skoll was a man once, but now he was a beast. He had fled his home in Dalmasca with his brother Hati, seeking safety from the chaos that had engulfed their land, only to separate himself from his twin by the Wood Mother's instruction. He had thought that the Isle of Val would be a place of refuge, a haven from the war and destruction that had ravaged their homeland. But he was wrong. The Isle of Val was thought to have been destroyed years ago, but Skoll had found it still standing, a testament to its enduring power. At first, it had been a place of safety for him. But the aether on the island was vast and potent, and Skoll found himself drawn to it like a moth to a flame. The aether consumed him, body and soul. Skoll became something other than Viera, a beast with a hunger that knew no end. He was a wolf, savage and wild, existing only to destroy. His fur was matted and dirty, and his eyes burned with a feral light. He prowled the island, hunting for anything that moved, tearing apart animals and plants with equal ferocity. Skoll's hunger was insatiable. He devoured everything in his path, consuming more of the aether that fueled his transformation. But the more he consumed, the more he changed. His body became larger, his muscles bulging with power. His teeth grew longer and sharper, and his claws turned into deadly weapons. In time, Skoll lost all trace of himself. He was a beast, pure and simple, with no thought or reason beyond his endless hunger. He howled at the skies, the sound echoing across Eureka Pyros, a mournful cry that spoke of his lost humanity. Skoll was doomed, a victim of his own insatiable appetite. He would prowl the Isle of Val until the end of his days, a wild and savage creature, forever trapped in a state of primal hunger.
CHARON'S CREATION
Hati's heart was heavy with the knowledge that he was separated from his only remaining kin, his twin brother Skoll. The two had always been inseparable, two halves of a whole, and now the Wood Mother had decreed that they must live their lives apart. Hati's grief was overwhelming, and it threatened to consume him entirely. The Wood Mother, in her infinite kindness, knew that such sorrow would be the death of him if allowed to continue. And so, she called upon her powers and sealed Hati's anguish into the form of a jet-black crow. Unbeknownst to Hati, this crow was no ordinary bird. It was a phantom, crafted from the very essence of his sorrow, tasked with accompanying him on all his travels. The bird's name was Charon, and it would serve as Hati's companion, guiding him through the trials ahead. For the first time in his life, Hati was alone. He wandered through the woods, seeking his brother, fueled by feelings of rage and betrayal. Skoll, in turn, feared for their togetherness, certain that it would be the death of them both. And so the two brothers were locked in a never-ending dance, Hati chasing after Skoll, and Skoll running as fast as he could to escape his brother's clutches. Through it all, Charon remained by Hati's side, a constant reminder of the grief he had left behind and the strength he had gained. For years they lived like this, Hati endlessly seeking Skoll, and Skoll endlessly running. And yet, through it all, the brothers remained alive, even as the world around them changed.
MOVING TO ZADNOR
The warg, a creature of fearsome strength and cunning, had been taken from the Resonatorium at Ala Mhigo and brought to the research facility at Zadnor wherein he became the new fascination of the IVth Legion's Centurion. Under the direct orders of Fabineau quo Soranus, he was subjected to a series of inhumane experiments, designed to break his will and turn him into a tool of war for the Garlean Empire. His captors cared not for his intelligence, his loyalty, or his soul. To them, he was naught more than a beast to be tamed and controlled, a creature of the wild that could be turned into a weapon of destruction. And so, they forced him to shift into his wolf form, believing that beasts were easier to tame than man. They subjected him to painful procedures, injecting him with strange serums and subjecting him to harsh conditions, all in the name of "science". But Hati refused to be broken. He fought against his captors with all his might, using his cunning and strength to resist their attempts to control him. But they were relentless, and they knew that they needed to push him to his limits if they were to succeed. As such, they made him consume an abundant amount of aether, the life force that flowed through all living things. They wanted to trigger his Mist Frenzy, a state of Vieran mindless rage that would make him easier to control. He resisted at first, but the aether began to flow through his body, ushering deep within his primal instincts. He felt his muscles grow taut, his senses sharpen, and his mind clouded with a red mist of rage. In that moment, he had lost control. His body moved on its own, tearing through the walls of his prison and unleashing his fury on aught that stood in his way. They watched in awe and horror as he rampaged through the research facility, tearing through walls and machines with his powerful jaws and claws. They had created a monster to fulfill their whims, but it was not without any sort of precaution. They knew well how to force him back to his usual self before he could even sink his fangs on their necks.
ENCOUNTER WITH THE WARRIOR OF LIGHT
The wolf of monstrous size descended on the dusty ground, its massive paws leaving icy ruins in its wake. With every step, it seemed to grow in size and ferocity, commanding terror and striking fear into the hearts of all who laid eyes upon it. Its maws opened wide, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth that promised death to anyone who dared to cross its path. This was no wolf of legend, but a creature of malevolence, summoned to do the bidding of its master. That master was none other than Fabineau quo Soranus, a powerful mage who had long ago forsaken humanity in favor of results. He had summoned this beast, known as Hrodvitnir, to aid him in his quest to destroy the Bozjan Resistance, a group of rebels who had dared to defy the Garlean rule. And so, Hrodvitnir set out on his mission of destruction, his massive form looming over the battlefield like a dark cloud of death. His jaws snapped and snarled, tearing through flesh and bone with ease as he laid waste to all who stood in his way with his icy fury. Hrodvitnir was a force of nature, a creature of pure violence and malevolence that had been unleashed upon the Star by a madman. And yet, even as he ravaged the land, there was a sense of tragedy about him. Hrodvitnir was not born to be a killer, but had been twisted and corrupted by his captors. He was a victim as much as a perpetrator, a creature of darkness that had been unleashed upon them by the greed and ambition of man. And so, as Hrodvitnir continued his rampage, tearing through the Bozjan Resistance with his unstoppable fury, there was a sense of sorrow that hung over the battlefield. This was not a creature to be celebrated, but to be mourned, hesitation evident in his every move.
LIBERATION AND DEFEAT
The wolf Hrodvitnir had suffered a brutal defeat, his once-mighty form now reduced to a broken, battered husk. He lay on the ground, gasping for breath, his lack of strength slowly turning him back to the man he had once been. As he struggled to his knees, he saw the figure of the Warrior of Light standing before him, the one who had liberated him from his suffering. The wolf had been part of the IVth Imperial Legion, albeit against his will, driven to berserk fury by their experiments, and had attacked innocent people. His mission was to kill them all. The Viera named Hati looked up at the Warrior of Light, his eyes filled with fear and confusion. He had never wanted any part in this violence, but he had been driven to madness and commanded to do things that betrayed his ideals. And now, as he looked upon the person who had come to kill him, he expected naught but death. Instead, he was met with either pity and understanding, knowing that he had been a victim as much as those who had been hurt by his chaotic self. He was offered something that he had never expected: freedom. The warg did not know what to do with this. He had been a wolf for so long that he had forgotten how to be himself.
THE PRESENT
His future was hanging in the balance. He had two paths before him, each one leading to a very different destiny. On one hand, there was the Bozjan Resistance, a group of rebels fighting to reclaim the lands that had been brought to ruin by the Garlean Empire. They sought to rebuild their homes, to restore their way of life, and to bring justice to those who had been wronged. On the other hand, there was the Warrior of Light, a champion of justice and defender of the innocent. They fought for the greater good, battling against evil wheresover it may be found, and their cause was a noble one. Hati had to choose which path to follow, and each one presented its own set of challenges and rewards. If he joined the Bozjan Resistance, he would be fighting for his people, for his home, and for a better future. But the road ahead would be long and difficult, and victory was far from assured. If he joined the Warrior of Light, he would be part of a larger cause, fighting for the good of all, and his actions would have a greater impact on the realm at large. But he would be leaving his own people behind, and he would be fighting a battle that was not his own.

Hot Take: I somewhat wish Freya appeared to be more muscular or had more physical effects that she has been preparing to get rid of Kratos. Whether she looks muscular or whether she looks drained, maybe like she doesn't care about much but revenge. I also hope that all the Valkyries have more diverse appearances, honestly I hope that we get the Valkyries as powerful women with diverse appearances, strengths, and I just want them to be different if they are included in the game. Give me more diversity in God Of War as a series rather than just stereotypes and representation that is plentiful in most media. Just because this is set back in time doesn't mean diverse beings didn't exist and if you argue that Angrboda or poc shouldn't really exist in GOW considering it's not about those other poc specifically, imo you are trying to hide behind the narrative of realism. I value realism in a lot of games or at least universes that make sense and that I can understand. Like diversity exists in the past, Angrboda shouldn't have to have explanations or whatever to explain why she is black and why she exists. Not to mention, I feel it's kind of weird that most of the women in the GOW series as a whole are either antagonists towards Kratos or are motivators for Kratos. I guess I can understand that this world is dominated by men and their presence as well as what can be perceived as caucasian people. But I still don't think it should mean that female characters or the female presence in this game is either antagonists who are actively hurt again and again by the male presences and figures in their lives is all that should be in this universe. This is why I hope that Angrboda is allowed to be her own person, flaws, strengths, and more and isn't defined by her connection or relationship with Atreus/Loki. In my mind, I see Angbroda as someone who has a lot of empathy and compassion within her and she devotes herself to her people and their goals as well as to help them to not be completely erased from their universe. I really don't want her to become an antagonist or someone who is merely a background character in Atreus's story. Like we don't get many positive female influences in the game besides Faye, Calliope, Lysandra, and Freya for a time. Aphrodite is nothing more than a sexual symbol with no importance to the plot, Persephone is an antagonist to Kratos, Athena who was once a positive influence in Kratos's life is now just another god using him for their own personal benefits. Imo I hope Angrboda isn't gonna become an antagonist in the future or is only there to help with the plot. Hell, I would love to see Faye and hear more about her life outside of Kratos and her influence on Asgard as well as Thor and Odin. Like I love the series and the male characters are amazing but imo the game needs more of a female presence that isn't antagonized or merely there to help with the male character's plot.

Fridging in Vikings
(no pun intended)
In  works  of  fiction,  to  kill  off  a  female  character  or  have  her  become severely  injured  or  incapacitated  solely  for  the  purpose  of  motivating  a male  character.  The  term,  coined  by  writer  Gail  Simone,  refers  to  a Green Lantern comic  in  which  Green  Lantern's  girlfriend  is  murdered  and left  in  a  refrigerator.
hello and welcome to all the storylines about women coming of age in Vikings we just couldn’t have because girls and fridging
I know the show provided some, but let me take you on a journey on how many stories of women paving their way in viking society we could have had if the writers had been willing
(spoilers for Vikings)
Gyda - Lagertha’s and Ragnar’s daughter (just the tip of the ice berg - and Lagerha never had any female descendants who survived)
Siggy - Bjorn’s daughter, Lagertha’s granddaughter (the way she died wasn’t even properly structured, and nobody, not even her father or grandmother, ever brought it up again
Honourable mention: her mother Thorunn who becomes a shield maiden then - leaves due to a disfiguring injury - again, she had become a shield maiden but who am I talking to
Thyri - Siggi’s and Earl Haraldson’s daughter (died of a disease - common way to get rid of daughters in this show)
Angbroda - Floki and Helga’s daughter who died of a disease too, out of nowhere (I will never forgive the writers that we didn’t get her becoming a shieldmaiden and boat builder with her father’s humor and cunning but her mother’s sense)
Tanaruz - Floki and Helga’s adoptive daughter who’s story was only misery except for one moment where you think it’s getting better but ultimately doesn’t
Honoruable mention: Sigurd’s daughter Aslaug who wasn’t even born in the show before her father was suddenly offed in public to drive the story
and he is the only of Ragnar’s sons who dies. Take note of the fact that the show has all the men grow up and live like it’s no big deal and they never even catch so much as a cold
sigh. If there is anything more than annoyed be about Aslaug’s sons becoming the center of attention is that they all lived with no problems while so many women were needlessly fridged - you can’t even argue it’s historically accurate because there’s no feeding them less and they are mourned a lot

[VRP] Floki did you find your lovely Helga in Vallhala or if she's in another place can you visit her? I think you two are an example of love, you two are a beautiful couple, please send my hug for her.
And Hvitserk I think that if you had the chance you'd be the perfect husband, so if some day you decide to make an experiment to see how you would do you can call me, I'd be happy to help you with all the things a husband and a wife do together... 😏
Oh, Floki is not here all the time for he's not exactly in Valhalla with us, but this one I can answer for you. Björn said, smiling. He lives with Helga on the hills, along with their daughter Angbroda. It's a peaceful place. I'll ensure your hugs reach him the next time I visit them. He assures.
About the husband thing, Hvitserk starts, It would definitely be a pleasure. But you must be ready: I'm a good husband, but I'm very demanding about how much we'll have to train so we can produce our children. You know... Lots of practice is required... He smiles maliciously.

ONE WAS LIKE PRETTY AND SHIT. THE OTHER WAS DEAD. NORDS GOD WERE KINDA FREAKED OUT BY THE FACT THAT SHE LOOKED LIKE SHIT, BUT EVEN MORE BY THE PROPHECY THAT TOLD THAT ALL CHILDREN OF LOKI (remember the giant wolf and the big’ol’ snake ?) A BED NAMED : “DYING OF SICKNESS”. AND EVEN THE DOOR OF HER HOME ARE NAMED : “THE DOOR FROM WHICH YOU DON’T RETURN.” THIS IS FUCKING EXTRA. AND PEOPLE ARE STILL WONDERING WHY SHE WASN’T SO COMPLEASANT ABOUT FREEING BALDR. POOR GIRL MUST BE KINDA UPSET. (spoiler : at some point loki is freed, the wolf and the big ol’ snake get free, ragnarok happens and everyone dies.)

May I say that when I read the sex scene between Loki and Angbroda I felt sick? Not because it was disgusting but because I couldn’t stop but think that he was cheating on Stjarna? 😢
Huh, it never even crossed my mind that it might be construed as Loki cheating on Stjarna. I wouldn’t necessarily consider it that, anyway. Remember when Hel told Loki that he would begin to forget pieces of his previous life the longer he was in Helheim, and he essentially told her that wasn’t happening? Well, it’s already starting to happen. Bits and pieces are disappearing from his memory, and unfortunately some of those bits and pieces include Stjarna. It doesn’t help that Angrboda is there to constantly distract Loki. See, Angie came long before Stjarna and left deep emotional scars on Loki that remained even after death, and now he’s confronted with her and is trying to deal with all these conflicting emotions and it’s overwhelming him.
So Loki didn’t have sex with Angrboda knowing he was betraying the woman he loves, he did it because, in those particular moments, he couldn’t remember there even existed a woman he loves, and Angie was looking all sultry-like at him. Although, he did at one point feel as if he shouldn’t be doing what he did with Angie, but couldn’t remember why.
Stjarna, however, is brought up in the next Loki POV. Loki eventually kind of remembers there was somebody else. His memory (pertaining to his previous life) is somewhat volatile, it goes in and out, but is in constant, gradual decline.

Hey! I need a little tip if you don't mind, since I'm starting myself as a Rökkatru. I dreamt of Hel today (she looked awkwardly like the movie), I felt she was not bad and was beeing misunderstood by everyone else and only grew destructive if provoked enough. Since she popped into my mind I want to honor her and I need some advice, I'm somehow devoted to Skadi already and I do my prayers to Angbroda when I start and finish my day. Halp please! (and thank you in advance)
What are you seeking advice for? Do you need help integrating another deity into your daily routine? Or how to honor Hel specifically? TBH I’m probably not the one to go to for help with more structured practices. I’m a very casual worshipper -- I offer up my chores or a cup of tea to Thor, I say a quick prayer of thanks to Loki, i might dedicate a cleansing bath and a lit candle to Freyja. I don’t have a regular, daily routine.
This post here is a great starter post for finding small, devotional acts to Hel.  Unfortunately, it’s the only resource I currently have on hand. Do any of my lovely followers have any tips and suggestions for getting acquainted with Hel? Or know of someone who’d be better to ask than myself?

Dreams
Well then. I had some interesting dreams last night. Or rather, one intertwined interesting dream. Recording it here because it may be of interest to some people here and also because maybe some people here will be able to provide insight/feedback.
Putting under a cut to save your dash. There's nothing triggery I can think of.
So the basic gist of the dream is that I was to be sacrificed to Jormungandr. Bear with me though because things are kind of jumbled and mixed up. For example, even though I knew it was Jormungandr they kept calling it Angbroda. So I guess my sleeping brain was mixing up the names? And "they" was a group of people that I think had either kidnapped me or just told me that I was to be sacrificed but this is where things get fuzzy. In some parts of the dream I clearly remember saying I wanted to be sacrificed but then in other parts of the dream I remember feeling like I had no choice. But the real bottom line both times (it was sort of two intertwined dreams) is that I remember feeling scared because I didn't want to die but then also conflicted. I felt guilty for feeling scared. If my Gods wanted me to sacrifice myself then I wanted to do it for them but I was afraid and that fear made me feel guilt.
That was basically all that happened. I woke up before any actual sacrificing. I fully realize this dream may mean nothing at all but it was/is interesting to me. Loki was not in it at all and it's the first time I've dreamt of any of his relations. I don't know if maybe it's a call to work more specifically with these entities maybe? Or is Loki feeling neglected? Any thoughts?
