For the Labour gang on tumblr:
It is not Scotland’s job to save England from what England continually votes for.
I’d be genuinely curious to hear from someone who thinks this is a remotely good take from Angela Rayner.

In January 2024, Angela Rayner was confronted by a man who lost five members of his family in Gaza. He wanted to know why she had not voted for a ceasefire. The man in question was dragged out of the venue, whilst Rayner did nothing. The audience of Labour supporters clapped at his removal.
A few days later Rayner told Richard Madeley that she had done "everything I possibly could" to prevent attacks on Gaza. Earlier that month, Rayner had stated her opposition to boycotts against Israel. In February, she complained she was "scared to go out" due to being confronted by protesters.
So I don't really care if Tories are kicking up a fuss about her housing expenses for no good reason. I'm glad she's having a terrible time. I hope it gets worse. I won't waste any breath pointing out any injustice against someone who looks at a victim of genocide and thinks "here is an obstacle to be removed."

Two-fifths of Starmer's cabinet have received funds from pro-Israel groups, Declassified UK finds | Morning Star
MORE than 40 per cent of Sir Keir Starmer’s cabinet has been funded by pro-Israel groups, a new report revealed today.
According to an investigation by Declassified UK, 13 of the 31 members of Labour’s shadow cabinet have received donations from a prominent pro-Israel lobby group or individual funder.
Donations have been received by Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, his deputy Angela Rayner, shadow foreign secretary David Lammy, and shadow international development minister Lisa Nandy.
More than half of the cabinet are listed as supporters or officers of Labour Friends of Israel (LFI).
According to Declassified UK, the donations were provided by LFI and Sir Trevor Chinn, a “philanthropist” active in numerous pro-Israel organisations such as the Joint Israel Appeal.

101 Things You Should Know About the UK Tory Government
Thing 20
“Chancellor Rishi Sunak calls on firms to “think very carefully” about any investments that would in any way support the barbaric Putin regime.... I am urging firms to think very carefully about their investments in Russia and how they may aid the Putin regime – and I am also clear that there is no case for new investment in Russia.” (GOV.UK 13/03/22)
No case for “new investment" but Sunak's wife is reportedly still profiting from her old investments in Russia. The Indian IT services company Infosys is still operating inside Russia despite saying eight months ago it was pulling out. Sunak’s wife, Akshata Murty, has a stake in the company (which is owned by her father) from which she receives multimillion-pound annual dividends.
“The company that pays Akshata Murthy, wife of British PM Rishi Sunak, £11.5 million a year is still operating in Russia, report says.”  (msn.com: 05/11/22)
Angela Rayner had this to say about Sunak’s double standards:
“The prime minister’s tough talk on sanctions on Putin is compromised by his private conflicts of interest. When he was chancellor Rishi Sunak ordered UK businesses to reconsider any investments that would in any sense support Putin and his regime but he’s utterly failed to get his own house in order.” (Guardian: 04/11/22)
As usual, it’s one rule for the rich and another for the rest of us.

Angela Rayner confronts Oliver Dowden amid row over council house
Angela Rayner will meet Oliver Dowden in what is likely to be a heated PMQs session as the Labour deputy leader continues to answer questions about the sale of her former council home, Sky News reports.
With Rishi Sunak out of the country, Wednesday’s session will be a battle of MPs, with Mr. Dowden likely to press Ms. Rayner on the issue.
Allies of Ms. Rayner, who has prepared some of her barbs for this crucial meeting, insist she did nothing wrong and will ultimately be exonerated by the police investigation.
At this time, Mr. Sunak is on a visit to Germany. The Prime Minister and Olaf Scholz, the German Chancellor, will pledge to deepen the allies’ defence and security ties during talks in Berlin.
The two countries will open a “new chapter” in their partnership, Mr. Sunak said ahead of the visit.

JEFF PRESTRIDGE: The cat's out the bag - Labour are planning a raid on your savings and investments

If you thought that this Conservative Government is being unkind on your pocket and wealth, imposing the highest tax burden for 70 years, believe me – to quote the Bachman-Turner Overdrive song – ‘you ain’t seen nothing yet’. Last week, Labour’s firebrand deputy leader, Angela Rayner, gave us a glimpse into what awaits the country […]
