Overwatch: Oni x Goddess AU (Gency)

Vinni drew. Vinni shipped. I wrote.

Is that a meme? Whatever, pretty sure I butchered that...

ANywaaaaayyyy... @koshkavinni came up with this fabulous AU and let me write a quick one-shot for it. BLESS. THEM! This is probably one of my favorite Overwatch AUs, period.

Genji was taught his whole life that his demonic nature was the only thing that has defined him, and will ever define him. That’s what’s been drilled into his head since childhood. Despite that philosophy never quite sitting well with him, he just kept quiet and pretended to accept it. For centuries he tried to defy it, but one way or another, the darkness caught up with him. He was about to embrace it for good when she came along.

She was his polar opposite. He was the embodiment of darkness, despair and misfortune while she was everything light, happy and nothing short of beautiful.

She was the Goddess of mercy. Her name was Angela

He didn’t fall in love with her immediately, and nor did she with him. It took time, but they got there.

A friendship bloomed between them rather quickly. Especially for beings of light and dark. He slowly opened up to her, and she was always there to listen. When she learned of the darkness that inhabited the world in all corners, he was there to help her comprehend it. Both of them were young, and still had lots to learn about the mortal and immortal realms. Whatever obstacles they faced, they carried each other through it. No matter how many tears were shed, giggles and laughs spilled, neither let go of the other.

The longer they spent together, the more darkness he sensed.

Her physical appearance didn’t change. Her magic wasn’t diminished. Her demeanor and personality never faltered either. Nonetheless, something was still very wrong.

Genji tried to hide it from her, and for a while he was successful. His white, red-fanged mask was off whenever her presence was near, but he kept an invisible mask on under it as well. Angela saw through both of them.

It was Genji’s greatest fear that the darkness that followed him would take her, too. It was always pushed deep down in his core, covered by the hope that she was his equal as much as his opposite. His balance, the yin to his yang, whatever someone might call it. Now it rose into his chest and left a burning sensation in his throat. He absolutely would not let anything give away his worry.

It became harder and harder every time he saw her. The darkness was stronger than he anticipated. The last thing he wanted was to make it worse, but he wasn’t sure what would make it worse or better. That was the only reason he refrained from stealing her kiss.

“Genji, is everything alright?“

“Yes, Angela, I’m fine.“

“But you’re crying.”

He swiftly wiped the dampness from his cheeks, but it was too late. Angela did the only thing she could think of to console him and immediately threw her arms around him and squeezed around his chest. Without thinking he wrapped his around her waist in return.

When she looked up to meet his gaze, the distance between their lips was already very short. Without asking, Genji closed it. If he was going to lose her, he would at least tell her how much she meant to him. Angela didn't mind.

She pressed back. Her hands moved from his back to the sides of his face to trace the red markings on his cheeks with her thumbs. His own hands moved to tangle with the feathers of her wings. The horror in his mind dimmed when she returned his kiss, but rose again when the feathers between his fingers were pulled with no resistance. Angela didn't feel them gone, either. In truth, she couldn't feel anything in the moment.

"Genji..." was what she managed to say before collapsing in his arms as if her legs turned to water. She went completely limp in his hold and he wasted no time in grasping her tighter to prevent her from falling. Tears began forming much quicker and falling in large beads. Her feathers fell at an accelerated rate around them, giving her wings a tattered appearance.

“Angela!” he shouted as he held on to a sliver of hope. Hope that she could hear him. Hope that he could pull her from the waiting jaws of the darkness before it fully consumed her. Hope that she would come back to him.

He cradled her body to his chest and rested her head in the crook of his neck. He shut his eyes as more tears kept running down his cheeks and over his markings. He murmured silent promises into her golden locks as her faint breaths faced across his neck. The warmth in her person was fading, and he wished that some way...

“She can be saved.”

The unfamiliar voice caused Genji to snap his gaze up. He was greeted by a tall woman with nearly ivory-hued skin. Her hair was a deep blue, and the crescent moon insignia on her forehead had the same colorization. There entire outfit was pitch black. Her large feathered wings invisible against the starless and moonless night. Her discolored eyes added a cynical touch to her sadistic expression. Genji immediately didn’t trust her, but still asked her to continue.

“H-How?” he choked out.

“Her soul is tainted,” the woman began. “Because of you, the darkness-”

“SHUT UP!” Genji bellowed. “I didn’t ask why, I only need to know how I can save her!”

“I intend to extract the darkness, Oni,” she hissed. “She’ll be free of the darkness, and I’ll even put a spell on her to prevent dark magic from entering her.”

Genji tightened his grip on the cool body in his grasp. “How do I know I can trust you?”

“You don’t, but you also don’t have much time left to decide.”

She was right. He didn’t have any other alternative.

“Why would you do this?”

“I have my reasons. Now, do we have a deal or not?”

A glowing piece of parchment appeared in front of him. His instincts creamed at him not to take this deal, but he’d do anything to have his goddess back.

His goddess.

“Yes,” he said grabbing the contract. It disappeared as soon as he touched it, and Angela became weightless. He let her go and she hovered in front of him. He expected her feathers to reattach themselves to her wings. He yearned to see her cheeks hold their pink tinge again. He’d do anything to gaze into the blue depth of her eyes again.

Of course, he should have known better.

Her white dress remained white, but it was... different. Her golden hair turned into a light lavender, and her crown of leaves was replaced by large black horns protruding from the side of her head, and curving upwards in a forward motion. Black markings lined her brow. A long, white tail snaked out from under her dress. Lastly, her wings, her beautiful wings no longer held soft feathers, but instead had a leathery texture and had a bright pink aura to them. When her transformation finished, she fell to the earth again, Genji lifted her head and placed it in his lap.

He was about to confront the dark-haired woman about what she did to the goddess. It was not part of the deal, and Angela certainly wouldn’t have asked for it. When he looked up, she had vanished without a sound or trace. Part of him wanted to find her and confront her, but he was distracted by Angela’s eyes shooting open with a sharp gasp coming from her mouth.

“Angela? Angela, can you hear me?”

Her eyes darted around for a few moments before meeting his gaze. Her irises were a soft blue, but something was wrong. They didn’t hold the sparkle he was used to. In fact, her entire face was unreadable. Genji didn’t know whether he should be relieved or concerned.

But she was alive. Angela was alive! Before he let his mind form any second thoughts, he bent down to her level and wrapped one arm around her middle and one around her neck.

He felt a soft pushing against his chest, and he let her go.

“Genji, what are you doing?”

She let out a soft groan in pain and grabbed her head with one of her hands. It was faint, but her eyes flickered from blue to soft pink and back to blue. “What happened? Why were you hugging me?”

His heart dropped and the lump in his throat grew larger. Somewhere, in that body, his goddess still lives. Her eyes still look back at him, despite being trapped in that body. She could be saved.

No matter what it takes. He will get Angela back.

Az EU szétesésének kezdetét hozza 2017?

2016 nem volt unalmas esztendő: a Brexit, az amerikai és az osztrák elnökválasztás, valamint az olasz népszavazás körüli hisztéria tett róla, hogy a mindig történjen valami. Az idei év azonban, ha lehet, akkor még több izgalmat tartogat, elsősorban Európa számára. Röviden összegyűjtöttük, a világ mely fontosabb dolgaira lesz érdemes odafigyelni 2017-ben.

Közel-Kelet

Kezdjük a tőlünk távolabb eső dolgokkal: a Közel-Keleten idén két fontosabb választásra kerül majd sor, ezek közül az egyik a libanoni általános választások lesznek. Az országban 2014-ben kellett volna megtartani a voksolást, ám miután a parlament képtelen volt megállapodni az új elnök személyéről, a képviselők kétharmados többséggel, további 3 évre meghosszabbították mandátumukat. A parlamenti megmérettetések pontos dátumát még nem tűzték ki, de a tét nem lesz kevesebb, mint a Szíriával szomszédos állam politikai stabilizálása, ami kissé javíthat a régió kaotikus viszonyain és további gátat szabhat a szélsőséges iszlamizmus terjedésének.

A másik fontos dátum május 19-e lesz, ekkor tartják az iráni elnökválasztást. Hasszán Rohani, jelenlegi államfő mellett eddig hárman jelentették be indulásukat, ám további jelöltek felbukkanása is várható. A voksolás azért kiemelten fontos, mert a végeredmény nagyban befolyásolhatja, hogy Irán miként viszonyul majd az új amerikai kormányzathoz, illetve milyen intenzitással vesz részt a jövőben a szíriai hadműveletekben, ahol jelenleg a Bassár El-Aszad elnököt támogató katonai szövetség egyik meghatározó tagja.

Amerika

A 2016-os amerikai elnökválasztással még korántsem ért véget a következő elnöki ciklus körüli felhajtás, bár idén csupán két államban tartanak majd államigazgatási, illetve kormányzóválasztást. New Jerseyben republikánus, míg Virginia államban demokrata politikus mandátuma jár majd le. Mindkét államban komoly küzdelem várható, hiszen a rendkívül megosztó elnökválasztás után a politikai értelemben jelentéktelenebb győzelmeknek is hatalmas presztízsértéke van, ami Donald Trump részéről sokszorosan fog számítani, ha egy második ciklust is végig akar majd vinni.

Európa

Kétségtelen, hogy az idei év legnagyobb politikai sztárja az öreg kontinens lesz. 2017 gyökeresen változtathatja meg egy sor nemzetállam vezetését és ezzel akár az európai integráció irányvonalát is. A három legfontosabb voksolás a következő államokban lesz: Németország, Franciaország és Hollandia.

Mind közül a leglényegesebb talán a német parlamenti (augusztus 27. és október 22.) és elnökválasztás (február 12.) lesz. Bár nem túl valószínű, hogy Angela Merkel távozik a hatalomból, vagy a CDU-CSU pártszövetség és a szociáldemokraták nagykoalíciója országos szinten megbomlik, de a német belpolitika térképét komolyan átrajzolhatja az Alternatíva Németországnak (AfD) várt előretörése.

A jobboldali pártnak idén először lesz komoly esélye arra, hogy bekerüljön a német Bundestagba. Ez önmagában hatalmas teljesítmény lenne, de ráadásul az sem zárható ki, hogy a szélsőségesnek titulált párt akár 16 százalékos, vagy ennél magasabb eredményt is bezsebelhet. Ebben az esetben könnyen elképzelhető, hogy a mainstream politikai alakulatok a német közéletben bevett “népfrontos” elszigetelési taktikával próbálják majd megfojtani Frauke Petryéket (politikai alapon elutasítják minden indítványukat és nem lesznek hajlandók együttműködni velük – a szerk.), de önmagában a párt parlamenti jelenléte komoly fejtörést okozhat majd a rendszer képviselőinek. Ezzel szemben az elnökválasztás gyakorlatilag lefutott dolog, itt már biztos, hogy a szociáldemokraták jelöltje, Frank-Walter Steinmeier kap felhatalmazást a parlamenti pártok és a tartományi parlamentek delegáltjaiból álló Szövetségi Kongresszustól.

A jelentős választások tekintetében Franciaország szorosan követi a németeket: a galloknál szintén parlamenti és elnökválasztás is esedékes lesz, előbbi június 11-én és 18-án, utóbbi április 23-án és május 7-én. A nagy kérdés mindkét esetben az lesz, hogy a Marine Le Pen vezette Nemzeti Front vajon képes lesz-e végre felülkerekedni a kétfordulós rendszer által jelentett kihíváson és a baloldali szavazókat is megszólítva jó eredményt elérni a második fordulókban?

Eddig ugyanis a bal- és jobboldali szavazók konzekvensen összezártak a radikális jobboldali alakulat előtt, ha az jó eredményeket produkált az első fordulóban, és csak azért, hogy megakadályozzák a Nemzeti Front sikerét, a legesélyesebb mainstream jelöltekre szavaztak. Az a taktika azonban a mostani, elsősorban a bevándorlásnak és a terrorizmusnak köszönhető elégedetlenségi hullám mellett nem biztos, hogy működni fog, így könnyen lehet, hogy a Nemzeti Front meghatározó erővé válik a törvényhozásban. Az még ennek ellenére is kétséges, hogy az unióból való kilépés mellett kardoskodó Marine Le Pen le tudná győzni François Fillont az elnökségért folytatott küzdelemben, de még ez sem zárható ki teljesen.

Hollandia szintén parlamenti választások elé néz, méghozzá március 15-én. Mark Rutte, jelenlegi liberál-konzervatív miniszterelnök és jelenleg 15 százalékos népszerűségnek örvendő kormánya komoly bajba kerülhet, ha a közvélemény-kutatások helytállónak bizonyulnak és a Geert Wilders vezette Holland Szabadságpárt tényleg 24 százalék körüli eredményt fog elérni. A hírhedten muszlimellenes alakulat nem csupán a korlátlan bevándorlásnak vetne véget, de a Brexit mintájára ők is népszavazást tartanának az uniós tagságról, ami a holland közhangulatot ismerve, akár az ország kilépésével is végződhet.

Bár nemzetenként más-más karaktere lesz a politikai versenynek, alapvetően három fő, Európa sorsát alapvetően befolyásoló kérdésről döntenek majd a választók:

Nemzeti szuverenitás: Az euszkeptikus alakulatok eredményei világosan jelezni fogják, hogy a Nyugat-Európa polgárai mennyire hajlandóak a jövőben is lemondani nemzeti önállóságukról gyakorlatilag felelősségre vonhatatlan intézmények javára. Az euróai bizalmi deficit könnyen véget vethet az elmúlt évtized központosító, az európai integráció elmélyítésén és a nemzetállamok felszámolásán munkálkodó irányvonalának. Ennek egy további aspektusa, hogy mindhárom ország radikálisai az unióból való kilépést szorgalmazzák és népszavazást is kiírnának róla, ha módjukban állna, ami végzetes csapást jelenthetne az EU-ra nézve.

Migráció: Az, hogy az ellenőrizetlen, tömeges bevándorlás mára központi európai politikai kérdéssé vált, nehezen megkérdőjelezhető. A jelenséghez való viszony sok szavazónál alapjaiban döntheti el, kire húzza az x-et. A munkanélküliséget és a gazdasági kérdéseket egyértelműen háttérbe szorította a terrorizmus és a bevándorlás témája (előbbi az emberek 32, utóbbi 45 százaléka szerint a legfontosabb probléma).

Elitellenesség: A három választás arra is rá fog világítani, hogy a szavazóknak mennyire van elegük az eddigi politikai elit tevékenységéből, illetve személyi állományából. Amennyiben a protesthangulat mégsem olyan erős, mint jelenleg várható, könnyen előfordulhat, hogy a rendszerpártoknak elég lesz csupán szimbolikus, vagy retorikai irányváltásokat, intézkedéseket, gesztusokat tenniük a választók irányába, hogy elkerüljék a komolyabb veszteségeket. Erre igen jó esély mutatkozik, tekintettel arra, hogy a mainstream politikai erők kezében összpontosul a tényleges hatalom, amivel igencsak megnehezíthetik a radikálisok számára az áttörést.

Magyarország

Ugyan idén köztársasági elnököt választ a parlament, szinte biztos, hogy Áder János marad az államfő, úgyhogy hazánkban nem kell csontig rágni a körmünket izgalmunkban.

Viszont az év második felében – de várhatóan még előbb – felpörög majd a 2018-as választási kampány, ami a kormányzati gátlástalanság és a Habony-média jóvoltából előreláthatóan a modern Magyarország egyik leggusztustalanabb, lejáratással és karaktergyilkosságokkal kísért mocskolódásorgiájaként vonul majd be a történelemkönyvekbe. A tét egyértelműen az lesz, hogy sikerül-e összeroppantani a kormánypártok által felépített centrális erőteret, képes lesz-e a Jobbik jövőre két vállra fektetni a Fideszt és egy sokkal élhetőbb modellel leváltani a bukott fülkeforradalmi rendszert?

Harry potter hogwarts legacy appreciation week: Favorite ship ❤️ by @endlessly-cursed

When I think about favourite ships for HPHL the first thought that comes to mind is Reubeila.

Reuben belongs to the amazing @that-scouse-wizard and has been a favourite of mine from the very beginning. I can't imagine Leila with another. Together they achieved so much, overcame obstacles and found a family in one another when their real ones failed. A half demon and a human make an odd combo for sure, but Reuben is perfect and a king of Leila's heart.

Victoliver, my sweet precious babies. Oli belongs to the incredible queen that is @kc-and-co. They are quickly moving up tge ranks and they deserve the world. A love story that is bound to last, a poem of the heart, a dance so uplifting it reaches the stars.

Angelinny my sweet, sweet babies. Vinny belongs to the incredible @hogwartsmysteryho I couldn't be more proud of them. They are the very definition of comfort and fluffy.

These two own my heart and they can keep it because they deserve all the love that all the worlds can give.

Galen and Siobhan. How could I not say ship and not think of this perfect couple? @kc-and-co and @cursebreakerfarrier created the love story of the century and I am so happy to see their wonderful stories unfold.

A tale of wonder

It's past midnight for me which means it's the 20th and we are in for a Christmas story for Angela and Vinny belonging to the lovely @hogwartsmysteryho, hope you enjoy this ✨

Rubbing her cold kissed fingers together, Angela had just finished making her way through the courtyard after having been out and about Hogsmeade almost all day. Blowing on her hands for a bit of extra warmth, she pushed the large doors open, making her way inside. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she felt the warmth from inside hitting her all at once, hands working on brushing off the snowflakes from her hat and coat.

Catching her breathe a little, she ventured down the corridors, steps taking her to the kitchen where she met up with Victoria "There you are, I actually believed you were going to not show up."

"And miss our last baking lesson, I think not?"

There was only a day left before the winter break and Angela had kept herself busy with learning how to knit, bake cookies and arranging a small surprise for Vinny as he was going to go spend the holidays with his family. She always remained at the castle, choosing to not return at the orphanage during the breaks, apart from summer when she actually did not have a say in it.

Looking over her shoulder, Victoria smiled at the last batch of cookies that Angela decorated "You are really getting the hang of it. Best one yet." Placing her hand on her shoulder, she gave it a gentle squeeze "I'm certain he will love them, have fun tonight."

Turning around to hug her, she thanked her friend before she left, turning back to pack them neatly. Everything needed to be perfect, no mishaps, no error in not getting something right and provoking his allergies. She could not look at another strawberry the same after the failed desert incident.

Adding the last bow to the cookie bag, she gently placed them in her backpack, heading to the grand staircase in order to meet up with Vinny. A smile spread on his lips upon seeing her, his arms wrapping around her frame in a tight hug "I received your owl. What did you want to show me?"

Glancing to the side for a moment, she could feel the warmth travelling to her face as she reached out to take his hand into hers "Come with me." Angela urged softly, him following her down a few corridors as she tried to explain without giving away the surprise "I wanted to spends some time with you since you're going home tomorrow."

His grip on her hand tightened a fraction, a thought clouding his eyes, making his smile fade slightly when she wasn't looking. Inside his mind he made a promise, right then and there, that in the future they would be together for the holidays. No more running around, no more empty celebrations and hurt or being alone, no. He wanted for the future to be better and as he held her hand letting her take him where she planned everything, he knew she wanted the same for them.

Reaching a large barren wall, she smiled, closing her eyes, thinking about the room of requirements, a door soon appearing before them, Vinny's eyes growing wide "Is this what I think it is?"

"It is, it showed itself to me in a time of need and well now is also one of those times." Letting go of his hand, she opened the room, leading him inside a winter wonderland. The room morphed based on her desire to spend Christmas with him, even if for a few moments.

Garlands and ribbons decorated the walls, enchanted snow falling all around them, similar to the effects shown each year in the grand hall. In the centre of the room, a large tree stood tall and proud, fairy lights shinning a soft aura around it. Rummaging through her bag, she pulled out a blanket, placing it on the floor, both sitting down, taking some time to just admire everything inside the room.

"I'm sorry I can't be here with you."

Turning her eyes towards him, Angela shook her head "No, no, there's no need. That's why I wanted to bring you here. I know you need to go back home so I thought it would be nice to have our own little Christmas beforehand." Placing a gentle hand on his cheek, her eyes softened "I didn't want to make you sad."

"You didn't, you did nothing wrong. I just wish the situation was different, but I promise we will get to celebrate the winter holidays together in the future." That warm smile she loved so much returned, lights dancing in his eyes from the tree.

"There's nothing more I would like." Turning to her bag again, she pulled out a series of things "But until then." Proud of her handy work, she presented two bags with cookies "One for you and one to take to your brother."

"These look incredible."

"And no strawberries." After looking at each other for a few moments they both burst out in colourful laughter remembering the incident, sounds bouncing off the walls as they tried to settle down.

Pulling her closer, he pressed his forehead against hers whispering a soft "thank you". Locking eyes with him, she could feel the same warmth spreading across her cheeks, this time far stronger than before, however she tried to keep a steady voice "There's more." Creating some distance, she reached out in her bag again, presenting him a gift "I really hope you like it."

Trying her best not fidget while he opened it, Angela remained incredibly still as to not show her nerves were getting the best of her. Pulling out the first item, he held up a knitted scarf "I know it's not perfect, I did make a mistake, but I'm getting better at it so the next one will be even better."

Placing it around his neck, he smiled at her, feeling the soft material against his skin "I love it." Looking back at the present, he pulled out a few wooden decorations.

"I thought it would be nice to have some hand made and when you look at them at home, you will think of me. I also made them with the new tools that you got for me." It has been over the budget that he had set out for the presents, however she did not need to know that. When he saw them in the shop, he knew that was the perfect gift for her, especially since hers were old and started deteriorating.

"Thank you Vinny." She suddenly uttered catching him by surprise "It's because of you that I have felt like I really belong here. You have helped me so much and have been my friend."

"You don't have to thank me. You're pretty amazing and I really…" he blinked a few times, eyes wide as he looked at her, not being able to finish his sentence. Looking back at the fairy lights, he tried to arrange his thoughts. He did like her, a lot and has tried to make it known, yet has never spoken the words out loud. He didn't even know where to start, how to word them.

He had witnessed Oliver saying it to many times, it felt as if it looked so easy, but now that he was standing in front of his crush, the words appeared to be stuck in his throat.

"You really what?" she asked puzzled seeing his change in demeanour.

Looking back at her, he offered a timid smile "I really…" he whished the earth could swallow him then and there. He suddenly felt hot and removing the scarf from around his neck did little to help. Taking her hands into his, he tried again, despite his voice wavering slightly "What I'm trying to say is that I am really happy I met you." Clearing his throat, he wanted to add something more, however before he opened his mouth again, the dinner bell rang, calling all students to the hall.

"It's been an hour already?" Angela couldn't believe it. They have spend so long being in awe and with the gift that one hour flew by almost instantly. They both knew they needed to make the dinner in order to say their goodbyes to friends before the winter holidays "I still had some sparkles that I wanted to light up."

"We can do that." He assured her "If you want after dinner we can go in the courtyard."

Both taking one last look at the room, they packet their things and left for the grand hall, however it did feel as if something was missing. He wanted to have had the courage to tell her what was in his heart, even take her hand and walk together down the halls until they reached their friends. Angela was also quiet, knowing very well that those were the last hours they managed to spend together before the holidays when they had to be apart for two weeks.

During the feast, despite being surrounded by their friends and keeping up with conversations, they kept stealing glances at each other "That's four." Ethel exclaimed, Selene nodding her head in agreement.

"Four what?" Vinny asked surprised.

"Fourth time you looked over at Angela."

Victoria chimed in "Oh no, did something happen? Didn't you like the cookies?"

"Angela baked cookies? Did you check all the ingredients?" Oliver also joined the conversation, Vinny suddenly feeling overwhelmed by all the questions and information directed at him.

"It's nothing of the sort. The surprise was brilliant."

All four leaned closer waiting on the explanation, one he did not want to give. They knew he liked her, for all he knew maybe even Angela did. Pushing his plate aside, he suddenly wasn't feeling hungry anymore as doubt started nagging him. What if she did know and didn't say anything because she didn't feel the same? But what if she did and she was just waiting on him to make a move?

"Trouble in the relationship, I can help." Oliver smiled ruffling his already messy hair, the girls rolling their eyes, giggling between themselves.

"I…no…I just need to find the right moment to tell her that I like her." Why was it so easy to say those words then but when he stood in front of her they refused to leave his mouth.

"Or you can show her." Oliver pointed to some mistletoe winking at him, Vinny's face going red. That proposition was actually even more overwhelming than telling her how he felt.

With dinner over, as promised Angela and Vinny made their way to the courtyard to light up the sparkles she had bought for them "Back at the orphanage" she said as she handed him one "kids are used to making a wish when you light them up."

"And do they come true?" Vinny asked hopefully.

"I guess. I think they are far too tiny to grant big wishes, but smaller ones I am sure they do." Taking out her wand, she cast a flame, lighting both of them up "Make a wish Vinny."

Looking at the twinkling light, he smiled, repeating his wish inside his head. To his right, Angela did the same, whispering softly "I wish to spend the holidays with Vinny next year."

"Do we have to say it out loud?" he asked, his cheeks already red and not from the cold outside.

Smiling, she drew closer to him "Only if you want. I believe that if it's heard, it doubles the chances." Looking up at him, she closed the space between them "I know it's early, but merry Christmas Vinny."

Dropping the now extinguished sparkler from his hand, he looked in her eyes, feeling as if there was a force behind them, one that spoke of happy moments and warmth, a gaze that felt safe and secure. Closing his eyes, he pulled her closer still, placing a soft kiss against her lips. At the back of his head, he panicked, not knowing what actually came over him, but when he wanted to part and she pulled him back, all doubt and thoughts dissipated, all expect for one "Wow the wish did come true."

Tender feelings

I know I should have been writing for Carnage Circus but apparently the WIPs wanted more attention today, so @hogwartsmysteryho we get a small story for Vinny and Angela 💛❤️

Herbology greenhouse, after class:

Leaning in to stare at the delicate plant she just finished moving in a brand new pot, Angela smiled, whispering softly “You’ll do great little one.”

Unbenounced to her, from across the table Vinny’s eyes were glue to her face, a smile involuntarily forming seeing her like that, Nolan’s words falling on deaf ears as he continued to rant about the benefits of different herbs and in which potions they were used, sometimes asking his friend if he was listening, him nodding absentmindedly at his questions.

Following Vinny’s gaze, Victoria turned to also look at Angela taking the small pot from her hands “And that’s the last one. Now all we have to do is write the report.” she announced proudly.

“Of course, but let me water everything first.”

Stealing another glance at Vinny, Victoria could read the signs, they were all there and had been for some time now. Him and Angela had gotten closer to one another over the years, spending quite a bit of time together. They had absolutely no problem planning to see each other, be it a trip to Hogsmead, study sessions or simple walks around the castle grounds, however it appeared as if they were having a hard time expressing their emotions when it came down to their feelings for one another. That or they just had the worse timing in the history of Hogwarts.

Angela appeared just as smitten, it took someone mentioning his name and she would instantly smile or her face would light up whenever he walked in a room. Vinny would use any chance to sit closer to her, undivided attention directed her way, however none of them had the courage of telling the other how they actually felt.

Knowing it would take some time to finish watering the plants, Victoria walked around the table, tapping Nolan’s on the shoulder, him turning with a frown to look down at her since she had the audacity to interrupt him “Yes?”

“I need your expertise on something.” She smiled tugging at his arm “It’s about the Sleeping draught, I can’t seem to brew a proper batch lately.” Pulling him further, she turned to wink at Vinny whispering “Go talk to her.” Nolan’s chest swelling with pride that someone who had nothing but brilliant results in potions was coming to him for advice. Making a mental note, Victoria promised to make Vinny pay for this window of opportunity as they left the green house, leaving them all alone.

Angela stood there, watering can in hand, staring at the door with a bewildered expression, not understanding how she suddenly lost her Herbology partner, especially without a word being directed her way “What? Are you joking right now?”

Turning to look at Vinny, he hid his face in the palm of his hands, heat traveling to his cheeks. He couldn’t believe Victoria pulled such a stunt, especially out of the blue. He needed time to gather his wits, think about what he should talk as it felt as if all subjects left his mind all at once and he was certain that if he were to open his mouth he would probably say something embarrassing.

Placing the watering can down, Angela walked over to Vinny, placing a hand on his shoulder “Is everything alright?” him almost jumping as he lowered his hands to look at her. All of the sudden, he burst into bright laughter, curls on top of his head bouncing softly as he tried to relax himself, essentially laughing at how silly he was acting.

“Yes, she just surprised me when she suddenly left like that.”

“Right?” Angela nodded, a smile shaping her lips as she looked up at him “And since when does Victoria need help in potions?” they both laughed, Vinny thinking she should have probably tried a different approach or lie. But then again Nolan bought it, so the end result was the same.

Angela’s eyes widened upon realizing she still had her hand on his shoulder, a blush dusting her cheeks as she quickly apologized, pulling her hand away. Just as fast Vinny took hold of her hand, her eyes lowering, as she blinked a few times, not being able to form a proper sentence in her head.

Seeing her hesitation, he let her go “I’m sorry, I should have asked first.”

“No, it’s fine. I just…” Angela hesitated, head dipped as she rubbed her hands together awkwardly trying to formulate the response in her head first before making more of a fool of herself.

Glancing back at Vinny, he looked to be rather uncertain of what to do with himself, his eyes averting as he looked around the greenhouse, lips pressed in a thin line. Acting before she lost all her courage, she wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging him tight.

Sucking in a sharp breath, he blinked in surprise, body frozen on the spot at the sudden show of affection, heart skipping a beat before it started bounding in his chest. Pulling away, Angela searched his face, eyes shifting from left to right “I’m sorry.” Taking a step back, Vinny finally breathed out, the shock on his face not dissipating.

Stammering slightly, he finally spoke, head shaking “No need, you just surprised me.” Pausing, he smiled at her “I actually liked it.” Lifting his hand to rub the back of his neck, he knew it was giving him away, attesting to how nervous he was, however Angela finally relaxed, her hand pressing against her chest as she breathed out.

“I thought I did something completely stupid.” She laughed her nerves away, relief washing over her as Vinny extended his arms out, pulling her in a proper hug, one she completely melted into, the biggest smile on both their faces.

A Little White Lie

had an idea for a little short for my boos angela and vinny haha. Victoria Summer (and Angela King obviously) belong to the wonderful @whatwouldvalerydo. Selene Fraser borrowed from the lovely @lifeofkaze, Oliver Gerard from the kindhearted @kc-and-co, and Ethel Hexley and Ophelia Burke (in mention) from the terrific @the-al-chemist. i hope i used all ur guys ok and plz lmk if i need to change anything!

It was a warm, sunny day at Hogwarts, but Vinny Raymond was not outside enjoying the day, he was inside enjoying the day. In fact, he was in the Great Hall, at the Hufflepuff table talking with his classmate Angela King, and he couldn’t think of any way he’d rather be spending his time.

In their earlier years at school, Vinny hadn’t really known Angela as much more than a classmate and an acquaintance. She had simply been the cute Hufflepuff girl who was always kind in small talk and generous in offering help to her fellow students. However, this year Vinny had had the privilege of standing next to Angela in Herbology, and they’d since become fast friends.

“Vinny, I made something for you,” Angela was saying bashfully, pulling something onto the table in between them. “I remembered that you had mentioned you like pie, and I was just in the kitchens, so I figured I’d make one for you! Well, it's a strawberry cobbler, not a pie, but that’s kind of the same dessert. Anyways, it took a few tries to get right, well, a lot of tries actually, but it should be rather delicious!”

Vinny sat there, frozen staring at the dessert, a beat of sweat dripping down his forehead.

Angela tried not to show her disappointment. “Oh, do you not like strawberries? Or cobblers?”

“Oh no, I love strawberries,” Vinny said, the words blurting out of his mouth before he had time to think about what he was saying. Oh no! Why had he said that, he wasn’t usually a liar!

“Really?” Anglea said, disappointment vanishing. “I’m so glad!”

Vinny was in too deep now, there was no going back. He slowly reached out and grabbed a slice of cobbler. He gave one last forced timid smile to Angela and wolfed it down as fast as he could manage before standing up and saying, “Thank you so much for the treat, Angela. I just remembered that I have to go… somewhere else. See you later!”

With that Vinny speed walked down the hall, pulling his hood over his face and leaving behind a very baffled looking Angela. By the time he was out of the room, bumpy red spots were already crawling up his limbs and Vinny had to restrain himself from scratching his face. Vinny was practically a strawberry himself by the time he made it back to the Gryffindor common room.

“What is going on with you, dementor?” giggled Vinny’s friend Selene Fraser, who was in the middle of a game of wizards’ chess with her best friend Ethel Hexley.

Luckily for Vinny, the only other student in the common room besides Vinny and the two girls was Oliver Gerard, yet another friend of Vinny’s.

Vinny pulled his hood back down and sighed, “I’m allerthic thoo thrawberries, and I juth ate a whole bunth.”

“Dare I ask why you did such a deed?” questioned Oliver.

“Anthela baked meh a thrawberry cahbbler, and it theemed like th’e workthed really hardth on i’, and I didinth wanna hurth her theelings!” Vinny said through his swollen tongue.

“Ooh,” Ethel smirked, poking Vinny teasingly. “You like her.”

“Allthright, I thoo like her!” Vinny confessed, furiously scratching his left arm. “I like her aloth. And I wanth her thoo like meh thoo!”

“Vinny we all guessed that you like Angela,” Selene butted in, “But this is ridiculous, you cannot eat your own allergies to flirt with your crush better.”

“Nay!” Oliver cried. “It is terribly romantic. Does anyone happen to know what Ophelia is allergic to?”

“Oli, focus!” snapped Ethel.

“You're right, it would have to be an allergy of mine for that to work anyway.”

“What are you going to do now?” asked Selene.

“I gueth I’ll hath thoo waith i’ ou’. I’ will go away athter thwo dayths.”

The next two days were very long for both Vinny Raymond and Angela King, who couldn’t seem to find the former anywhere.

“Hey Selene,” she tried, pulling the brunette aside later that day. “Have you seen Vinny? I didn’t notice him at dinner.”

“Oh,” Selene said a little too quickly. “He’s held up in the common room. He’s got a mountain of homework to finish, you see.”

“Really?” Angela asked. “He said he’d finished it all when we were hanging out earlier today.”

“You know those teachers of ours,” Selene sweated. “Hardly ever get a break, even after school hours they’re always assigning more!”

Nevermind, Angela would just talk to him the next day. But she couldn’t find him that day either, just his chatting housemates Oliver Gerard and Victoria Summer.

“Hello,” Angela interrupted. “Have either of you seen Vinny?”

“Oh, he was, uh, practicing quidditch with Ethel I think,” Oliver managed.

“What?” Victoria said with surprise. “Vinny doesn’t even play quidditch. Last I saw he was camping out in the common room today, hiding that—”

“Ahaha no, you must be mistaken Victoria, I’m quite sure I know what I’m talking about, and he’s very busy right now.”

That was a strange interaction, but oh well. Later in the day, Angela ran into Ethel and figured she’d ask about it.

“Vinny? I have not seen him since this morning when he was bitten by a, um, murtlap?” Ethel said, suddenly wishing she knew her magical creatures better.

“But Oliver told me you were practicing quidditch with him earlier today.”

“Yes! I meant to say that I have not seen him since he fell off his broom and then was bitten by a murtlap. I had to take the poor kid to the hospital room,” Ethel said, wondering if she was, perhaps, not being the best wingwoman for her friend.

“Oh dear!” Anglea gasped. “I should go visit him and see if he’s alright!”

Ethel nearly slapped herself. “No, you cannot do that because, um.. Because…”

Angela noticed Ethel looking over her shoulder and motioning with her hands a little. Angela turned around just in time to see a red hood go up over curly brown hair.

“Vinny!” Angela called, running after him. “Wait up!”

She chased him all the way to the courtyard before she finally caught up to him.

“Vinny,” she tried again and, trying not to let the hurt come into her voice, she asked, “Are you avoiding me?”

Vinny slowly turned around to face her, and began to pull his hood down even slower.

Angela gasped when she saw the red spots all over his face and, as she looked closer, his hands and neck as well. “What happened to, well, you?”

“I don’th really like thrawberries,” Vinny sighed, avoiding eye contact and rubbing his arms vigorously. “I’m acthually allerthic thoo them.”

“But, why wouldn’t you just tell me that?” Angela asked, still a bit in shock. “Why would you eat my cobbler?”

“I juth wanthed thoo be grathful for i’. You workthed tho hardth on i’, and you looked tho happy when I thaid I liked i’.”

“I feel horrible,” Angela fretted.

Vinny shyly glanced up and said, “Tha’s exacthly wha’ I didin’th wan’. ‘eh cahbbler really wath thuper good, and you know wha’? I’ was almotht worth eathing, exthept that I couldn’th thalk thoo you for a thew dayth.”

“That was really sweet of you to say, even if I only understood about three fourths of it,” Angela blushed. “But can we promise, from now on, no more little lies and secrets?”

“Agreedth, juth thry not thoo bake any mo’ thelicious thrawberry thweets.”

And so the pair spent a warm, sunny day catching up as best as they could through a lisp and lots of laughter.

1. What’s the first thing they usually do to get the other’s attention?

vinny and angela: a quick, simple, eye contact and widened smile usually suffices. sometimes vinny will feel something slip into his pocket, and check it to find a little token, then look up to see angela smiling at him. likewise, angela will hear a voice reading some bad original poetry from right behind her, and turn around to find vinny, holding a scribbled poem in one hand and dramatically waving around his other arm. angela, of course, is of the impossibly talented @whatwouldvalerydo

saffron and sam: samuel will wait for saffron in the corner of the room she’s in while she finishes up her business (no matter how abnormal that business is) and trusts that she’ll see him in the background and know he wants to talk. saffron doesn’t have to try hard at all to get sam’s attention, her tendency to pop up around him whenever and her strange mannerisms that attract all eyes are more than enough to get the job done.

13. What do they do to make each other smile or laugh on bad days?

angela and vinny: answered here :)

saffron and sam: samuel is usually in a very neutral kind of mood, but if something does have him bothered, saffron will work hard on a craft; i’m not even creative enough to say what kinds of cards and little gifts saffron would devise, no doubt something super strange, quirky and completely not boring that would raise samuel’s spirits. she may even invite him to perform a very exclusive and special ritual, which samuel finds to be an entertaining experience at the least. samuel doesn’t usually start interactions of any kind himself, but he’ll (subtly but scarily) confront anyone he finds making fun of his hufflepuff friend behind her back, if aiden doesn’t beat him to it (whose confrontation would be much less subtle). i’m not sure if saffron would be the type to get upset over not being asked to a dance, but if she ever is in that scenario, samuel would ask her to go with him to try to cheer her up. he’ll also just sit with her when she’s upset, giving a quiet comfort, and letting her gal pals take over with the ranting and cheer-ups.

2. How comfortable are they with touching/being touched by the other?

vinny in particular likes to cuddle and hug and initiate as much physical contact as he can with angela. compliments and favors are things he does for everyone, and assumes everyone else does for each other too. so, he relies on physical affection to mark a relationship as extra special. in fact, when he was initially crushing on angela, one of his subtle ways to flirt was just by standing as close as possible next to her, to make sure their arms were touching, an arm on the shoulder when he could manage, and extra long hugs. he was hoping she’d realize that although he’s kind, supportive, and enthusiastic to everyone, he’s hinting and being extra affectionate with her. he’s also a big fan of hugging her from behind.

3. What quirks/mannerisms do they consider characteristic of each other?

angela often giggles when she’s walking next vinny and he’s mid sentence, but then suddenly stops walking and trails off and she’ll look behind and see him on the ground smiling at a flower or something. while they’re dating, he’ll trap her in a hug to stall her from surprises from himself, her friends, or any classmates needing a spare few seconds to set up. she knows he’s up to no good when a hug has lasted a suspiciously long time, and they’re just swaying around patting each other.

4. How do they know the other is in a bad mood before they say anything?

vinny has a hard time telling when angela’s in a bad mood unless she’s visibly upset or says so. if she’s acting like everything’s fine, he will assume everything is fine, it’s one of the parts of being a boyfriend that he struggles with the most. he does, however, notice whenever her smile falters for a second, and that’s his cue to pull her aside and ask what’s up. he also can tell when she’s uncomfortable doing an action or in a group setting, and will pull her out of that situation. angela can tell if vinny’s had a bad day if his eyes are red, or he’s rubbing away tears, or brushing over any simple well being questions like “how are you”

13. What do they do to make each other smile or laugh on bad days?

when vinny knows angela needs cheering up, he’ll play a game with her. maybe it’s because he’s used to cheering up a younger brother, or maybe it’s because vinny himself cheers up even more with a game, but it’s what he thinks of to do first when he knows she needs a little joy. sometimes it’s as simple as going to the three broomsticks, buying her butterbeer, and playing tic-tac-toe in a booth. sometimes the two of them will make up their own silly game together and have so much fun making up ridiculous rules that they both have to smile, even after the longest of days.

November rain list

Usually in November I set myself a goal in terms of how much I want to write as part of the Nano Camp challenge, however I will be taking on my new role at work this month and I know I won’t be having time for myself between learning everything and trying to keep a cool head.

With that being said, as October is almost over, out of the list, the only thing I haven’t managed to do was Talia’s revamped profile as I feel I really need to dedicate a day to making a proper one that will not include spoilers and so on as her story is still ongoing.

I have also spent this past month thinking about my ongoing stories, how much they are worth it and if they actually bring any joy and contribution and believe me, it has been a real struggle. While I am not 100% certain on some parts, I am in a much better place let’s say and hopefully will manage to finish everything and not end up deleting entire stories.

Without anymore ranting this is the plan:

Develop more on the relationship between Angela x Vinny @hogwartsmysteryho and Victoria x Oliver @kc-and-oc. I feel like I have yet to wrap my head properly around these and actually find a voice for them, so hopefully we can talk more and see where it takes us.

Make profiles for the new HPHL and HPMA kids as I have yet to do so (because I hate making profiles). Usually I have characters presented in stories so there wasn't ever a need for one, but yes, they are an exception as neither have their standalone fic

Publish Late Night Enchantments twice a month (this will be the schedule for it). While I have written in advance I want to stick to a schedule as time won't be my friend and I have yet to finish writing arc four.

Today's Special will wrap up around 30 chapters or so and I will post at least twice a month for it as well, unless inspiration hits more and you get a bonus.

Late night curses will also benefit from two chapters a month unless inspiration says otherwise however I have yet to set a number of chapters as there is a lot to unpack.

The circus is coming to town, some well known characters making their appearance in a Circus AU. There will be small one shots for everyone as detective Winger goes on to question the staff at the circus. I am also making art for this so it will be a slow process, but we will get a glimpse of it this month

With all of this I have to add I might miss some things or sway from the schedule because I know what comes next will take everything out of me.

I will be posting rarely and not be as active so take this as an apology in advance.

Another reminder for anyone out there: my stories are usually angsty and dark, covering a spectrum of subjects some might not find to their liking. Considering all chapters with a mature warning. Just in case.

Anything I do, be it art or fanfiction is something I do for free and on my own time. If I cannot deliver for whatever reasons, I won't and I hope you can understand. Life takes its toll on all of us so shout out to the content creators, you are doing a brilliant job at your own pace.

Be nice people, the world is fucked up as it is.
