The brave little jumping spider who kept my chili pepper seedlings safe from equally tiny flies! I didn't see them again after this picture was taken because there weren't any flies left and I got worried about prey availability so I gently guided them outside. However, I'm choosing to believe their efforts were instrumental to getting the seedlings to where they are now. (Picture taken in the Netherlands.)

Atypical characters: My rogue for a Curse of Strahd game was just one of the cheerfulest PCs in the starting party. She had a good relationship with her family and became a rogue solely because she enjoyed the stories about Dashing Rogues a lot, and could play the lyre to sing some of the ballads about them too.

When she died because of an unfortunate case of getting sucked dry like a capri-sun, I gave the obligatory Tragic Rogue Backstory to my new Paladin instead. :p

RIP your rogue, so much good good bard energy and she died to vampire nonsense of all things :(

Since Anders, Astarion and Gale canonically like cats, I'm imagining conversation sliding that way one night over the campfire. Anders explains almost casually that he wasn't allowed to keep cats for most of his life, during which Astarion is lowkey drawing parallels in his brain, and although still snarky about it he comments that at least Anders gets to pet all the fuzzballs he wishes to now, before telling them a little about Malta, the cat that usually hangs out near Cazador's mansion.

Anders and Gale immediately pounce on that because anything that'll have Astarion be less standoffish is probably a positive and draw him into their conversation, and it takes Astarion several days to realize that wait, this probably counts as A Friendly Conversation, right? Does this make them friends now? Or at least on friendly terms? And he didn't even have to flirt for it or anything???

Yess this would happen.

It would also lead to them including him more naturally in conversation to find more interests they share-- because they have a foothold now.

The downside is this is somehow going to turn to magic and Astarion getting a front row seat to some peak nerding while getting tips on how to use his magic better.

My #1 post of 2022

I grow our own vegetables. Many hybrid and heirloom varieties are bred for flavor rather than for commercial appeal and travel. There are entire species on the allotment that you can’t easily buy in stores because of this - like salsify, a root vegetable that tastes of fish and shellfish. Our neighbours happily take it to make vegan latkes of alarming similarity to fishcakes. You cannot sell it in stores because - despite looking like a white parsnip - it turns brown when you pick it & if you scrape/bruise/cut the white root in any way, or damage the delicate little hairs, for some reason, it BLEEDS RED and is very upsetting to look at.

There are whole classes of foods like this. Foods that just don’t ship well or look good on supermarket shelves. Forbidden fruits. Vegetables that bleed and taste like meat. Sorry about this

1. Are you named after anyone?

As far as I'm aware, no. Unless you consider nicknaming myself to count for this, then probably after James from the pokemon anime, and

2. When was the last time you cried?

Several weeks ago when I told a homophobe to shut up and somehow not getting beaten up by him, and then later when I told my mum about that I also came out to her - tears of both fear and happiness

3. Do you have kids?

Nope. I'm not great parent material to be honest.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

I'm not really sure, I can't really tell sarcasm when I see it, that includes myself, so if you see me using the "/s" tone indicator know I'm rolling my dice there /gen

5. What sports do you play/have you played?

Chess and currently learning some of the tournament card games. These are sports no matter what you think qualifies as sport - football is also a game and yet it's counted as sport. Either way if that answer doesn't suffice, I was pretty big on basketball in middle school, and the boys bullied me for it in middle school. Then they realised that it's actually kinda fun, and I have fallen out of practice by that time, and grew to hate it like most other physical game-sports.

6. What’s the first thing you notice about other people?

Their linguistic quirks. Accents, regional words, peculiar mispronunciations, particular patterns of misspelling things.

7. What’s your eye color?

Deep brown, can't tell the exact shade. a mutual friend of Raya and I said once that I have "very loyal eyes" to compare them to the colour of brown dog eyes.

8. Scary movies or happy endings?

Happy endings. I want to see my blorbos happy. Although if "bittersweet" was an option here, I'd go for that.

9. Any special talents?

I don't consider myself talented in any particular way, but I know my friends would send me strongly worded PMs if I gave that as my answer, so I'll say, what many of them always put at the forefront of the good stuff about me, "Good at learning languages", and personally I'd also say "Pattern recognition" (especially when it comes to languages)

10. Where were you born?

Masuria (southern part of former East Prussia, WHICH SHOULD NOT BE CALLED EAST PRUSSIA, "EAST" PRUSSIA WAS THE ORIGINAL PRUSSIA, THEN ONE OF THE PRUSSIAN RULERS GOT BRANDENBURG INTO HIS COUNTRY AND CALLED THE WHOLE THING PRUSSIA, AND NONSENSICALLY RENAMED PRUSSIA PROPER "EAST", LIKE THERE'S MANY DUMB NAMES IN THE WORLD BUT EAST PRUSSIA TAKES THE FUCKING CAKE), Poland

11. What are your hobbies?

Learning languages, learning about languages, playing ttRPGs, learning ttRPGs, writing (poetry and prose), reading (mostly prose but I like poetry too), traditional board games, traditional card games, modern board games, modern card games, zelda, graeco-roman mythology, mythology, history (chiefly before Napoleon) and many many more. I can already think of some stuff I missed but I don't want to make this post infinitely long

12. Do you have any pets?

Not I myself but my family has three cats! A tabby named Kati, a british shorthair named Boniface, and a ragdoll named Lucifer. We also used to have a yorkshire terrier named Little Knot (translating from the polish name, we don't have the same connotation of knot in regards to canine genitalia, the original name is Supełek)

13. How tall are you?

Last time I checked, 173cm

14. Favorite subject?

Language stuff. RPG stuff. too much stuff.

15. Dream job?

not one in mind. I thought I wanted to be a translator but with how I'm doing in college, I doubt I'd become that :')

This woman may have a point, although I fear she overestimates the amount of work Elon Musk does vs what he takes credit for.

Like… think about it… if we all make sure that Twitter is as enormous a headache as possible… and his gigantic ego is fully invested in proving he can “fix Twitter…”

We can completely freeze all of his other destructive activities. Goodbye monkey torture hobby!!!

I mean sure he can still just hire people to do the other stuff BUT it is fairly well established with Elon that, once his attention wanders, his projects never move again (see: HyperLoop).

He has the same collection of abandoned craft projects I do, his are just expensive.

Anyway I think maybe the entire cosmic purpose of Twitter all along was to become a massive Elon-distraction device.

He is our Minotaur. We are his labyrinth. All things are processing according to a greater plan.

The Endurance was trapped in Antarctic ice for about a year and finally sank in November 1915:

Famously, Ernest Shackleton used a jury-rigged lifeboat to sail over 700 miles to a whaling station, seek help, return and rescue his entire crew, which imo is a greater feat than reaching the South Pole. The ocean currents circling Antartica are some of the stormiest and coldest in the world. How the heck do you cross that in a small open boat without sinking, starving, or freezing to death?

Anyway, I'm impressed that the Endurance looks to be in pretty good shape considering how much it got crushed by pack ice. And it was just discovered yesterday (March 9)!

Zagreus probably respawned in the river a LOT as a kid. Than and Meg would dare him to go poke at a monster or something and he would double dare them back until they all went to do the Bad Idea and all died. Persephone practically has a heart attack when they tell her way later on.

Than is definitely not amused when Zag reminds him of this. Listen, just because they were dumbasses doesn’t mean he wants his child being mutilated because their daddy didn’t want to follow standard safety protocol and not throw him sixteen feet into the air.

Zagreus finds this entire concept of “standard safety protocol” ridiculous I mean... they’re gods aren’t they? And their baby is a god? It’s not like they’re going to die? Heck, his entire job is fighting through the underworld and possibly dying in a variety of horrible ways. Buuuuuut eventually he decides it’s best to just not mess with mamabear Than.

Also ok what are we thinking, boy or girl baby? I already have some Than and Zag sims in my Sims game and I need to know for absolutely no specific reason whatsoever. I was kind of leaning boy but I have way cuter CC for girls.
