get to know me tag meme
got tagged by @staceymcgillicuddy and am doing this one only THREE weeks later as opposed to even more weeks like last time
rules: tag (8-10) people who you want to get to know better.
relationship status: single but sometimes i invent a little romance for myself in my head which is fun until i have to confront the fact that it’s made up!!! that part is less fun
favorite color: ummm my ~power color~ is red but i also like pink and yellow
three favorite foods: a very fancy bagel (lox or salmon roe or whitefish salad), my poké bowl (including pickled mango), aaaaaaand pasta
top 3 tv shows: considering how much tv i watch this is a surprisingly hard question to answer!!! i guess i’m not much of a rewatcher unless i’m showing something to somebody. but sweet/vicious for sure is one of my fave shows that ended too early that i always try and make people watch. i don’t think it is like a “””good””” “””show”””” per se but i’m always excited for an episode of 911 or 911 lonestar lol. aaaaaaaand let’s go with a league of their own bc it made me weep several times. honorary shout out to yellowjackets. will bump it up if they commit to shauna/jackie’s gay feelings for each other being canon.
top 3 characters: ooo well my current blorbos include sansa stark and chrissy cunningham and i’ll always have love for lily evans. just bc i only have two other blorbos i’ll also give shout outs to beth greene and jemma simmons
what i’m currently reading: not in the middle of anything rn. just finished seven percent of ro devereux by ellen o’clover and thinking of either starting out of character by jenna miller or honey and spice by bolu babalola
song stuck in my head: ok i actually don’t have one today but for several recent days in a row it was take on me by a-ha
last movie watched: the menu halfway!! i’d already seen it but was skimming for reasons. but before that it was m3gan lol because i had to show it to people!!! and last weekend i watched a whole bunch of other spooky movies with my friends.
last thing i googled: technically it was “how to see google search history” but before that and anything else related to this game it was “young angie will trent” lol
last song i listened to was: hmmm i’m not sure exactly. something from the annie dirusso mix playlist on spotify. let’s say it was “my kink is karma” by chappell roan but i think that was actually the one before whatever i listened to last
dream trip: idk!!!!! i am not really a trip planner unless it is a trip to see people. maybe a road trip all over the us to see all kinds of different places and people. that probably would be the dream actually.
time: 6:15 p.m. rn
anything i really want right now: FOR MY FAVORITE OVERALLS TO BE FIXED. FOR A NEW PAIR OF MY FAVORITE OVERALLS. THEY RIPPED IN THE THIGHS BC I AM TOO SEXY JUICY AND I GOT THEM PATCHED AND THEY RIPPED ALONG THE PATCH AND NOW I’M LIKE!!!!!! WHAT AM I GONNA DO. DO I GET THEM PATCHED AGAIN. HOW LONG CAN THIS CYCLE LAST. WHY CAN’T AMERICAN EAGLE OUTFITTERS SELL THESE OVERALLS AGAIN. I WILL BUY 47 PAIRS SO I CAN HAVE THEM UNTIL THE END OF MY DAYS IF ONLY THEY WOULD LET ME.
tagging: ummm let’s go with @beholdthemem, @chdarling, @cellsshapedlikestars, @julvett, @mistysharks, @gorgeousgreymatter-x, @loulanorth, @enoughtotemptme

@illusinae asked: [ boop ] for Angie uwu // word prompts
[ boop ]  for  your  muse  to  boop  my  muse  on  the  nose
Tumblr media
THE TAP TO HER NOSE IS COMPLETELY UNEXPECTED, Angie’s eyes going wide the moment Cam effectively manages to boop her. She cracks a SMILE the moment she registers it, though, and...well, she COULD respond normally, but where’s the fun in that? Instead, completely dismissing what they were already talking about, her hand flies out to boop Cam on the nose right back.
What? Let her get even in peace!

‘ jogging is the worst. i mean, i know it keeps you healthy, but god, at what cost? ’ (maddie to angie even tho maddie is 100% in her leggings and hoodie for a jog)
@puerstellas // parks and rec sentence starters
“Gonna be honest here, I can’t remember the LAST TIME I voluntarily jogged outside of gym class. Actually, that wasn’t voluntarily, I’m forced to do that-” Technically, she has run outside of class by now-- a million times, given that she’s a superhero now. Or...something like that; she’s still trying to get the hang of it. It’s much easier now that one lap around the track doesn’t make her stomach cramp, but she does only really get exercise when she’s underneath the mask. Yeah, she’d be WAY out of shape if it weren’t for the powers.
Now, she barely struggles with it, but she keeps up how she used to feel beforehand-- she can’t let anyone catch onto what’s different, right? “I mean, it’s not as bad as straight up running, ‘cause at least it hurts less and you’re less sweaty, but good luck.”

🖊 + a new oc (or Angie I love my baby)
In the spirit of Ace Awareness Week, I’ll go with one about Angie. It takes a really long time for her to realize that she’s ace because as a demigod she had a lot more to worry about than her dating or sexual life. When she does, the first person she talks to is Nico.

Alive and Well Part 2- Jasper Badun x OC
Jasper Badun x Angela Young
Description: Cruella enlists Artie and Angela’s help to put the Baroness away from good, but once it’s all over, Angela and Jasper are left with only their feelings for each other and no way of knowing how to go about it.
Word Count: 2.8k
Work had been almost nonstop since the plan was set in motion, but Angela didn’t mind. She loved the adrenaline that ran through John’s house at all times. Everyone was excited to be on board and they wanted to make it perfect just as much as Cruella did. That’s why Angela was confused when Jasper came into her room while everyone was on a lunch break.
“Hey Jas, what’re you doing here? I thought you’d be eating with Horace and Artie,” she greeted the man, trying not to show her confusion. He shot her an almost cutely awkward smile and took a seat beside her.
“Well, I wanted to keep you company, and check on your dress for tonight,” he responded before looking it over. “It looks amazing.” Angela blushed.
“Thanks, I can’t wait for you to see the finished product.”
“I’m sure you’ll look beautiful in it,” he said softly, staring at her with a look she couldn’t quite explain. Her blush deepened, but she couldn’t find words to respond with the way he was looking at her. She noticed his eyes flicker down for a moment before looking into her eyes.
“Angela, I-” he never got to finish his thought before he was interrupted.
“Hey guys, Cruella says it’s time to get back to- oh,” Artie stopped mid sentence when he stepped in the doorway. “Uh, sorry to interrupt. I’ll just uh… be out here when you’re done.”
“Uh no, it’s okay,” Jasper said quickly, standing and dusting himself off. “I should probably go help Horace fix up that car.” With that, he left without looking at the girl. Angela only watched helplessly, dying to know what he was going to say. Unfortunately, she didn’t get the chance as she had to help a few others with last minute details then had to get ready herself.
She didn’t even see him again until they arrived at Hellman Hall for the charity event. She arrived with Artie, showing their “invitation” to John, who let them in with a knowing smile. They gave him their coats then headed to the ballroom filled with black and white wigs in memory of Cruella. The duo split up to make sure that everything went according to plan, then John instructed her to get an earpiece from Jasper. It didn’t take her long to find him.
“Excuse me sir, could you direct me to the champagne?” She questioned innocently upon reaching him. His back had been turned when she walked up, but he turned after hearing her voice with a bright smile.
“Yes ma’am I-” he paused when he noticed her outfit. She looked, in the simplest terms possible, absolutely stunning. Her dress made her look like a literal goddess and her hair all done up framing her face added to the look.
“Yes ma’am, I?” She prompted him with a teasing smile. He seemed to come back to his senses, only for his eyes to widen.
“Oh no miss, you’ve dropped your earring,” he informed her urgently. That made her look around and crouch down. He followed suit and pretended to look down, only to hold something out for her a second later. Upon looking at it, she realized that he was holding an earpiece.
“Oh, you sly dog,” Angela whispered with a giggle, which made him chuckle. As they stood, she placed the device in her ear then covered her hair.
“Thank you sir,” she spoke openly now.
“Of course,” he nodded and held out a champagne flute for her. “Enjoy the party, miss.” With one last nod to each other, Angela sent him a wink and continued to walk around. Once it was time to get everyone outside to the cliff, Angela went arm in arm with Artie to see why was happening. The Baroness was talking to Estella right beside the railing between the property and the cliff. Her eyebrows furrowed as she watched the Baroness hug the girl, then gasped in horror after the woman promptly pushed her over the railing. Angela’s knees buckled under her, but Artie was quick to catch her.
“Come on, we have to go,” he muttered in her ear, leading her off as the Baroness continued to claim that Estella had jumped. John, Horace and Jasper were waiting outside the entrance of the building, looking unphased. Upon noticing Angela’s distressed state, Jasper walked over to the duo and hugged her.
“It’s okay Angie. Just trust us,” he whispered. That confused the girl, and she looked up at the man. He didn’t acknowledge the look as he led her to the circle of gravel as a car sped towards them. Angela gasped and she plus the men with her stepped back once the car skidded to a stop just a few feet away from them. The girl’s mouth dropped open as Cruella de Vil stepped out of her car.
“No way,” she breathed out with a small laugh. Jasper’s hand went around her shoulder and gave it a small squeeze.
“Didn’t I tell you to trust us?” He muttered as everyone surrounded the car. She couldn’t help but laugh and she pulled him into a tight hug that he didn’t hesitate to return as the police led the Baroness to their car.
“Can’t you idiots see!” The woman shouted. “That Estella person, that’s a trick! She’s really Cruella!”
“Cruella de Vil,” Cruella announced with a triumphant smirk.
Just a few days later, “Estella” was laid to rest, finally with her mother once more. Cruella, Jasper and Horace moved into the newly named Hell Hall, but Jasper was quick to notice that there was one person missing.
“Hey, Artie? Where’s Angela?” He asked his flamboyant friend. The man shrugged absentmindedly as he stared at the ornately designed wall pieces.
“She was outside by the cliff last I saw her,” he answered distractedly. Jasper thanked him then headed out where everyone had seen the Baroness murder Estella Miller just a few days ago. She was sitting on a bench not far from the cliff, just listening to the waves miles below by the looks of it.
“Beautiful view, huh?” He asked softly as to not disturb her. Her head turned just a bit to look at him and nod. A serene smile graced her face that made her look even more beautiful than the night of the gala in Jasper’s opinion. She patted the space beside her, to which he sat down. It was a rather peaceful silence, and it was the calmest both of them had been in a week. Cruella allowed the guys all a small break to get settled into the mansion and Artie and Angela were given a break from designing to relax.
“What were you going to say?” Angela interrupted the silence. Jasper’s eyebrows knit together and he looked at her.
“What?”
“What were you going to tell me the day of the charity gala?” She elaborated. “When everyone was at lunch.” Jasper now blushed and looked down shyly.
“Ah, that,” he started, his tone matching his mood.
“Oh please, no need to act bashful now,” Angela teased, resting her head on his shoulder affectionately. Jasper didn’t laugh like she expected him to, which worried her.
“Hey,” she nudged him gently. “What’s wrong?” The man stayed silent for a minute, but was yet again interrupted for the third time in the past three days. Horace walked out with Winky by his feet.
“Oi Jasper!’ He called despite being only a few feet away from the duo. “Cruella wants you back inside to help her with a few,” he paused and glanced at the palm of his hand. “Executive decisions to maximize the space of the house,” he finished slowly, obviously reading off his hand. Angela couldn’t help but laugh and shake her head at the innocence in his tone. Jasper smiled a little then looked at her.
“Duty calls, I guess,” he muttered apologetically. Angela brushed him off.
“Go ahead. I’ll see you later.” The man nodded and bid her a quick goodbye and followed his friend back inside, leaving Angela to sigh and continue to look out over the cliff.
A few days later. Cruella decided to have a party to introduce herself and all of her workers to the world, not wanting to not give everyone their due credit. Everyone who was anyone was going to be there, so everyone had to make a good impression.
Angela dressed in a form fitting burgundy gown with off the shoulder short sleeves and pulled her hair up into a bun. Once she was happy with her look, she decided to go around and help anyone who needed help getting ready. The first door she happened upon was Jasper’s, who had opened it a crack. She knocked twice on the door, waiting for him to call her in before entering.
The man in question was standing at a full length mirror fully dressed, aside from his tie. He looked wonderful, Angela thought. The suit really did him justice because it was like him: simple. Jasper never cared for extravagant outfits, and that opinion has stayed with him to this day. He was just wearing a simple tux, nothing added, just the suit. He seemed to be focused on his appearance though, as he hadn’t greeted her, or noticed her at all. Upon closer inspection, Angela realized he was having trouble with his bowtie.
“Turn around Jas,” she instructed gently. The man sighed, but turned around upon realizing that it was Angela’s voice. He paused, staring her up and down in shock, which made Angela smile as she recalled the night of the charity gala.
“Wow, uh, you look incredible,” he complimented, still looking blown away. She blushed in response and absentmindedly smoothed her dress down.
“Thank you, but that’s not why I’m here. Bowtie, please,” she instructed, holding her hand out for the piece of fabric. Jasper looked like he wanted to protest, but gave in without a word. Angela thanked him and stepped closer, wrapping the tie around the back of his neck. Her eyes stayed on his neck as she tied it, too shy to look into his eyes with how close they were. Meanwhile, he couldn’t find it in himself to look away from her. She looked so cute when she concentrated, usually she hit her lip but not tonight unless she wanted to risk ruining her lipstick.
Once she was done, she straightened out his tie then slid her hand to the collar of his nice shirt and folded it down. Only then did she finally look at him.
“All done-“ she broke off, noticing the look he was giving her. What was that in his eyes? Longing? Affection? Love?
“I- uh,” she started, but she had no words to finish her thought. Not like she had the chance anyway.
“Guests are arriving!” Artie called down the hall. Both their heads snapped to the doorway, then to each other.
“Right uh, I should be going,” Angela muttered quickly, stepping away from him and ignoring the loss she felt from not being so close to him anymore. “Cruella requested that Artie and I go down together,” she explained, as if he didn’t already know.
“Right,” he repeated with an awkward smile. “Uh, good luck.” His hands went into his pockets as she shot him a dazzling smile.
“You as well. See you out there,” she responded before walking out of his room, closing the door behind her. Jasper was really starting to get annoyed with all the interruptions.
The party was almost in full swing when Cruella announced that it was time to make their entrance. She  had everyone separated into groups by their importance to her: all of Artie and Angela’s tailors would go down first separated by their part in the dressmaking process, then once they were at the bottom of the stairs Artie and Angela would walk down, they were the ones who got all the fabric and such after all. Then Horace and Jasper walked down side by side, no reason to explain the obvious reason. Then finally, the queen herself at the top of the stairs, completing the pyramid. The applause was almost deafening, and Jasper noticed Angela squeeze Artie’s arm. She had done that before the flash mob at the park, so it didn’t take long for Jasper to realize it was a stress reliever, a way to sort of ground herself around so many people.
Cruella gave a short speech welcoming everyone then saying what would go on tonight: there would be a sort of q&a for anyone who had questions about them as well as showcasing all their previous designs on mannequins that lined the side walls. But first, there were introductions that needed to happen. Cruella went through all the dressmakers by name and what their specialty was, and as she said their names they walked down the steps as rehearsed. It went by rather quickly and soon everyone was encouraged to mingle until the q&a started.
Jasper looked about the room, searching for someone in particular, and he found her just moments later. Angela was in a small group that surrounded Cruella’s rubbish dress discussing how long it took to make and such. He had a plan, and no one was going to stop him this time. He made his way over to the group, coming up behind the girl as she listened to Artie talk. She nearly gasped when an arm went around her waist and someone’s lips practically touched the shell of her ear.
“Meet me outside when you’re done here. By the cliff,” Jasper whispered, which made her relax now that she knew it was only him. She turned just a bit to nod, a sign that she understood. With one more nod, Jasper’s hands went into his pockets as he headed outside to their agreed meeting spot. Just a few minutes later he heard the clacking of heels walking towards him and he turned around. Angela smiled at him upon reaching him.
“You wanted to talk?” She inquired, just loud enough to be heard over the water below. Jasper nodded nervously.
“I want to tell you what I’ve been dying to tell you since before the whole fire incident,” he explained, which made her perk up. Finally.
“Go on, then,” she responded, leaning against the railing beside him. He stayed silent yet again for a few minutes.
“Jasper,” she called, making him look at her. “I know you’re probably thinking of the right way to put things, but you might want to hurry because we don’t know the next time we’ll-“
“Jasper! Angie!” Artie called, stepping outside. “Cruella wants us inside for the q&a!” Jasper watched as Angela’s shoulders slumped in defeat, attempting not to show her disappointment.
“Nevermind then,” she muttered softly, straightening out her dress as she stood straight once more. Jasper shook his head quickly. No. Not this time. His hand shot out to grab her own as she began heading inside. Angela barely had time to turn and question him before he pulled her close to him. His hand left hers and instead moved to cup her face with both hands and bring his lips to hers. Immediately her hands reached up to cover his and her eyes closed, her lashes looking like a Morning Glory at dusk. This wasn’t just a kiss, it was something that they could get addicted to if they weren’t careful, but neither of them cared about that. All they focused on was each other until Angela was forced to pull away for air.
“I love you,” Jasper whispered, not wasting a second before pressing another kiss to her lips, this time much more delicate and much less urgent. “That’s what I’ve been wanting to say.” Another kiss. “And bloody hell has it been hard to get a moment alone to tell you that.” Angela couldn’t help but giggle as their lips met yet again.
“I’m afraid with our line of work we don’t have a lot of time to wait,” she responded simply, her hands now resting on his shoulders. “But for you, I would make time.”
“There’s no need now that it’s done,” he spoke with a wide smile that she just couldn’t help but copy. “Just stay with me, forever.”
“I would like nothing more,” Angela answered, wrapping her arms around him in a hug that he returned.
“Wow,” they heard another voice from behind them, which made them turn around. Cruella stood there with a knowing smirk.
“That was touching,” she continued. “But now that you’ve professed your undying love for each other, we have a q&a to do so let’s go. Please?” She added after Angela raised her eyebrows at her. Jasper chuckled at the interaction then held his arm out for Angela.
“Shall we?” The woman grinned at him then linked their arms together.
“We shall.” With that, they followed Cruella inside to the rest of their lives.

My Top 5 Books of 2020
(not really in any particular order)
1. Where the Crawdads Sing - Delia Owens
My favourite book of the year. I just felt so engrossed in the story and the atmosphere of Owens’ writing. It has its flaws, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
2. The Prisoner of Heaven - Carlos Ruiz Zafón
Zafón is without a doubt one of my favourite writers. I love the way he creates modern gothic atmospheres. It also feels refreshing to read something set in Spain in different eras, as it’s not something i’ve read before. I think I will read the ‘Shadow of the Wind’ series again in the new year, as I’ve read them all in an odd order spread out which means often times I don’t get the references to the other books. While it’s not necessary to read them in order, I think it would enhance the reading experience.
3. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo - Taylor Jenkins Reid
A captivating and engrossing read, filled with sex, passion and intrigue. I also love the old nostalgic hollywood setting. Just a really good page turner.
4. The Tattooist of Auschwitz - Heather Morris
This is such an incredible, heart wrenching and impactful story that really leaves you thinking about it afterwards. Even though it’s an incredibly sad story, it has a feeling of hope at its center.
5. The Song of Achilles - Madeline Miller
This really is as good as everyone says it is. Especially if you’re interested in Greek Mythology. It took me a little while to get into it properly, as it is a fairly long read. For me, I think the heart breaking ending is what really makes this novel, and is why it seems to have such a lasting effect on you afterwards.
Overall, I would recommend any of the books I have read this year tbh. Some more than others obviously, but literature is subjective at the end of the day. My goal was to read 25 books this year, which I realise may not sound like a lot to some bookworms, but I’m quite a slow reader and I have a short attention span. I think this is probably the most books I’ve read in a long time, and lockdown has probably had a lot to do with it.

Presser
After the events at Los Diablos Air Force Base, a press conference is held. The new special liaison faces a tough crowd.
~1900 words, Retribution Spoilers, mind control and no proof-reading, sorry~
~
“You have to go out there. They asked for you by name,” Wei Chen looks up at the security feed from the press room - seats filling, guards posted - LDPD in tactical gear. Nobody’s called a state of emergency, not yet - but you can’t tell from the look of things. “You’ve done a hundred of these things, what’s the problem, Ortega?” He didn’t have to ask - but he wants to hear her say it.
“Bad enough coming to these things when we’re winning. We just got our asses kicked, Chen, we should be out there, kicking over every bolthole and abandoned building.” Ortega had let the makeup team touch up her bruises - not like her at all - but they had been ugly, and this whole conference was about putting a pretty face forward.
“Nobody was killed. We stopped the missile,” Chen points out. He doesn’t disagree, it was a loss, but he was trying to get Julia to work with him.
“After it launched,” Ortega counters, “And Clarity and their goons got away with the arms.” And… everything was different about this one. Old, Clarity had called her, goading, warning her to stay down. Cracked her ribs this time - the suit was a piece of work - nothing Charge shouldn’t be able to handle but Clarity had her number. The villain had been warning her - not goading her, like most villains try, not boasting. A real warning, something that seemed sincere - which meant they didn’t think of the Rangers as the enemy, maybe even the opposite, and that worried her more than anything.
Steel’s furrowed brow deepens, confessing his suspicions “We were meant to stop it - Clarity knew we would. It wasn’t a heist, it was a message.”
“A message, great.” Julia throws a hand up, “Where’s Angie, anyway? Should make her stand up on this stage. She’s the Clarity expert.”
He knows Ortega isn’t serious - both of them know better than to push Lady Argent in front of cameras in an official setting. Something down at your own peril. “Recovering,” Chen quickly clarifies, “Not hurt - just her pride - you know how she is when she loses.”
Julia rubs at the side of her face, then stops - remembering the makeup. The headache persists, “Chen, why does it feel like we’ve lost control of the whole thing? Los Diablos used to be our city.”
The current Marshal struggles for an answer - but before he can find one, an aide to Mayor Alvarez, waiting in the wings, gives a saccharine smile and a wave to him, flashing an okay sign.
Chen sighs, “We’re on.”
~
The briefing room is packed tight - not meant to hold this much press, this much extra security, and the extra personnel from the cooperating agencies. The whole room is hot, crowded, tinged with anxiety. The press is feisty, out for blood, but Alvarez and Miller, for the city and the police respectively, do solid work fielding the questions with non-answers, assurances. Everything is under control. The Marshal and ex-Marshal stand in reserve, a show of support and cooperation from all corners - or scapegoat if needed.
“Next question, Miss Ochoa?”
“Major Miller, with this escalation, shouldn’t we be expecting a federal response? It was a military target, after all.”
Joshua Miller’s smile tightens - nobody in Los Diablos likes to talk about the federal government in their city, as a point of pride. “Actually, we’ve -”
“I can answer this one,” A cool voice from the back of the stage cuts the major off in his remark. A blonde woman just past her middle years, in an immaculate suit, a federal suit. Standing there, like an ordinary human being, a regular person. Smiling that smile, a smile that promises efficiency, structure, discipline. That compliance will be rewarded. A burning effigy, a symbol, a -... or just a woman, in a suit - like anyone else in the room.
Miller nods and turns back to the audience, introducing his guest for the press, “Ladies and gentlemen, Regina King, Deputy Director for Developmental Test and Evaluation, Department of Defense.”
She rises to the podium, taking Miller’s place and adjusting the microphone height to suit her - she’s shorter than her air makes her seem. “To answer your question, Miss Ochoa, I’ve been sent to act as Special Liaison in this matter, only to monitor the situation while making sure Mayor Alvarez, Marshal Steel and local authorities receive whatever cooperation and resources they need in combating… lawlessness and terrorism here in the Free Economic Zone.”
The real message is hidden behind her teeth and eyes. We are watching. We are here to support our interests. We will aid you until you fail, and then it is our matter.
There is quiet, Alvarez and Miller, even Chen, watching their new special liaison with wary suspicion. Mia breaks the silence with a follow-up, “What’s the federal government’s interests here? National security? My reporting has shown a number of defense contractors were targets of this Clari-”
The woman doesn’t miss a step, cutting off the reporter before that name can be mentioned, “At the Department of Defense, all our interests are security.” A winning smile, that bland humor, doesn’t hide the irritation. She hates to submit to questions, from civilians. The contempt is beneath the surface, but someone who knows her could smell it. “A number of defense contractors have been targets of recent violence within this city and the surrounding areas - and the well-being of our private partners is a matter of serious concern. I’ll be coordinating responses between all parties involved, of course.”
There’s a laugh, unexpected and inappropriate, cutting through the tension of the briefing. The Rangers present stand a little straighter, all the security detail starts forward. The cameras shift from the podium to the source in the crowd, a reporter many years Mia’s junior, with a face for television. She rises in her seat, and Mayor Alvarez identifies the reporter for the momentarily uncertain Director King, “Veronica Sandoval, KTLD News.”
Veronica steps from her assigned seat, holding her microphone - everyone relaxes but for the Rangers. The reporter calls out, “What about the target of the missile launched yesterday?” She starts to walk toward the stage, something uneven in her steps, something unsteady in her voice.
The KTLD camera man follows his reporter dutifully, even as Regina fields the question, her easy smile fading for an angered one, a polite, forced smile.  “At this time, the circumstances of yesterday’s incident at Los Diablos Air Force Base are still being investigated through regular channels - when they have that information, I’m sure a report will be made available to all members of the press.”
Sandoval continues to move toward the stage, intercepted by an LDPD officer holding out a hand, “Is it true that another facility was targeted, a non-military facility, one of your ‘private-public partnerships’, one south of Warm Springs, Nevada?”
“I’m not sure which facility you mean.” The Deputy Director’s smile is gone entirely, a sour frown fixed to her face. Around her, the briefing room is filled with murmurs and clicking of cameras. Mayor Alvarez is looking to her aides for assistance, and Joshua Miller is quietly sweating as his officers move to restrain the reporter.
The KTLD camera man calls out, now more worried than concerned with holding the camera, “Roni, what’s gotten into yo-”
But she pays him no mind, calling out her accusations, “You know. You know, and I’m sure they would like to know too. You should tell them. Tell them what you do there!” Sandoval clings tightly to the microphone as a second and then a third officer moves to grab her and twist her arm. She fights with the officers even as gasps and panic sweep through the briefing room. Marshal Steel moves to cover Alvarez, and Charge steps up to stand before the Deputy Director.
The strength seems to slip out of Veronica Sandoval, a pained groan before she passes out entirely. And then behind, a quivering cry from Joshua Miller as he rises from his seat, the LDPD Major’s eyes wide open in horror as his body seems to move beyond his control.  He pushes Alvarez from the podium - Steel catching her before she falls. The rest of the cops of the security detail start forward.
“What’s wrong with the major?”
“Sir?”
Miller’s eyes calm, his motions smooth, and he leans to the microphone, his voice taking on the same accusatory cadence as Sandoval’s, that same fury fills his eyes. “Tell them what you make there. Let them all see what you really are. I can see it crawling underneath your skin, Deputy Director.” Joshua Miller’s mouth hisses the strange words forced out of him with, “I tried to avoid this - I didn’t want to be involved in your world anymore. So now you’ll have to show them everything. Let them kno-”
Wei Chen’s prosthetic grip puts an end to the major’s rant, a squeeze and punch to the gut from the marshal and Miller slips into unconsciousness, as Sandoval did.
“Start EMS!”
“Get everyone out of here!”
A gunshot coaxes the murmurs of the press room into a symphony of cries.
One of the officers that had restrained Sandoval rises up, a fresh-faced LDPD patrolman, and turns to face the podiums now, a calm passing over him, then an anger twisting his face. His hand loosely holds his sidearm, discharged at the ground, “Let them know everything. Why not? Aren’t you proud of the monsters you’ve made? Aren’t you proud of me?”
Other offices are drawing their weapons now, pointing them at their colleague - panic has reached a fever pitch, but the cameras still roll. Across the city, it must be quite a show - in diners and offices, on city streets, all across every screen.
“It took a lot of work, but I’ve finally brought you here.” A manic smile fixes to the officer’s face as he unholsters his gun, “Welcome to Los Diablos, Regina King. Welcome to my city.” He levels it at the deputy director, possessed in all meanings of the word, out of his mind.
There is a hint of panic in her eyes when the gun is drawn, and if nothing else of your plan ever goes right again, then that fear in Regina’s eyes may be enough to make everything else worth it. You wish you were watching through your own eyes, and not this stranger’s - it isn’t the same, you can’t quite taste the fear, as you imagine you could with your own body.
But then her expression hardens. She reaches inside the coat of the bodyguard shielding her and pulls out a handgun and promptly levels it at the back of Julia Ortega’s head, finger on the trigger. Hot, boiling panic rises in you - in your own body, but this puppet’s too.
She says nothing but holds the gun with unsettling stillness, even as a bewildered Charge turns to face her, “What the hell?!”
But the director doesn’t have to explain. The message is clear. She knows who is pulling these strings, and she still knows how to hurt you. Just like always.
You begin to loosen your control of the officer, forcing words through the officer’s lips as you let him lower his gun. “Careful,” the man’s voice, your words, “Your mask is slipping, Regina. They’ll see you for what you are.”
Around the briefing room, amid the panic, the cameras still hold on the strange stand-off between the cop, the Special Liaison, and the hero Charge. Regina starts to lower the gun she holds, even as you slip out of this man’s mind, leaving the chaos behind, and back to your own thoughts.
All part of the plan, right?

@dumbthink asked: “can you walk? For Angie maybe :0″ // misc angst starters
Tumblr media
THE GIRL WINCES AS SHE ATTEMPTS TO MOVE FORWARD, wobbling slightly to one side. Well this is fucking annoying. Superpowers and everything, she still manages to sprain her ankle in gym class of all places-- not even when she’s trying to get a grip on her abilities! Which...she still hasn’t done much with, if she’s being honest. She knows enough to be aware that the minor injury will end up healing soon enough, but the sudden attention makes her nerves spike, and she’s really beginning to wish no one saw her completely eat shit on the gym flooring.
“Yeah-- yeah, I got it. I think it’s just a sprain.” She shrugs, giving Nadine a small smile, before joking, “If I broke my ankle here of all places, I’m gonna be really pissed.”

“ i only wanted to help. ” from Aaron to Angie
@twilightttv // random sentence starters
BEEN THERE. Angie remembers the first time she really wanted to help, but hadn’t done a thing, stayed frozen behind a corner even after she had a while to realize her powers were there. She won’t ever forget how she could have saved her brother, but didn’t. And although it pushed her towards actually doing something worthwhile with the abilities she got, in some crazy, fucked up way, she doesn’t know if the guilt will ever stop lingering. And since then, she’s tried to help in a million ways, and is met with failure PLENTY of times. Mostly because of her own mess-ups, but at least it’s...some kind of progress?
So when she hears the words, she nods her head, smiling slightly underneath the mask even if it isn’t visible. “Mhm, I know...I get it.” An awkward pause, before she extends her hand to help him up. “Let’s...finish this, yeah?”
