How would you instruct an artist, if they were drawing for you, to incorporate a watermark in a way that doesn't take away from the art?

(this is kinda relevant to me)

well, you can make the watermark not fully opaque. (around 50% opacity should do it)

also, i would advise you don't put the watermark over the eyes, or just any feature you want to put emphasis on.
