being an artist in these times is not easy: burnout, artificial intelligence, loss of love in your hobby... we are all fighting a very difficult battle and I hope that one day we will be able to shine again with our drawings regardless of what whether for work or just to relax.

Just a little venting below the cut about fandom attitudes 😮‍💨

Know what I’m not into? When a show or film doesn’t go the way we hope and people are bummed about it, but then there’s always that group of people who are like, “but you’re not upset enough. Everyone should be same amount of angry as we are and hate this company/director/writer/etc as much as we do. If you don’t then you’re not a real fan.”

I refuse to apologize for continuing to like something in general and continuing to be interested in watching it and seeing what else is done with it despite some ways in which I was disappointed. And to be frank, that’s ultimately because my entire life doesn’t hinge on the outcome for these fictional characters. If I’m disappointed once again, it’s not going to crush me as a person. (Partly because this is exactly what fan works are for!) If you know you can’t handle it, then of course it’s valid to decide you’re not watching at all anymore. But… please don’t act like that’s the way every fan should feel! 🙄

just went and watched charles' renewal video for the first time and it's not at all similar to lando's? they're both videos with music that feature drivers talking about their teams. that's. that's it.

so tell me why lecfosis on twitter (and on tumblr apparently... i cannot believe they're on tumblr. please keep your twitter toxicity to twitter!!) are analyzing it frame by frame trying to find similarities to accuse mclaren and lando of copying it and rushing it out in a day (for WHAT reason?). "they couldn't even bother to colorgrade it" have you considered they made it black and white on purpose to contrast with the fluoro logo. it looks cool! we all think it looks cool bc we're not miserable losers trying to find things to be mad about!!! "it's so obvious to any editor that it's poorly edited" have you considered mclaren hires professionals who know how to video edit better than you, a random weirdo on the internet who clearly needs a job? Rings of Power stans keep whining and whinging about Tolkien purists and general fans of his books and Peter Jackson films but as soon as someone critiques Rings of Power, no matter how valid and calm the criticism, they collectively have an aneurysm because someone doesn't like their dumpster fire of an adaptation. It's fine if you want to bootlick Amazon and enjoy trash television, but can you at least stop harassing and bullying people and grow a spine for once?

fucking annoying user on the gravity falls subreddit that I blocked but can't resist the temptation to peek at their constant comments on every post, being fucking vocal about how much they hate Ford every opportunity where he's mentioned in the slightest and I can't take it anymore. like keep it to yourself dude, this is a post where they're looking for quotes from Ford for a silly list of best quotes, you can shut up for five seconds about how much you loathe Ford for having flaws that you're blatantly exaggerating because you hate him so much and let Ford fans enjoy spouting off his quotes in peace man. God, I fucking hate that guy. He's so fucking annoying even when he isn't preaching how much he hates Ford and thinks he's the worst member of the Pines family. I fucking wish blocking on Reddit completely wipes blocked accounts from view instead of letting me keep on failing to resist looking at their awful comments out of spite and a horrible sense of curiosity. I so wish I could punch them in the face. Act out my Ford daydream of punching a stupid annoying Stan simp who downplays Stan's flaws and bashes Ford into the core of the Earth. I bet they'd have a really punchable face.

the last time I interacted with them, I was defending Ford from being victim blamed by them and I don't want a repeat of that argument. which was why I blocked them in the first place. they're fucking annoying and I hate them so much. maybe it's because they hate Ford, or it's the way they overuse periods by constantly trailing off a million times to stupid lengths until it's too stupid to take seriously (think like this....................... amount of trailing off periods, sometimes even more, a simple ellipses... is good enough if you really can't stop pausing for effect dude!!). I'm only glad Reddit is keeping them from replying to me and my posts and comments after I blocked them. I cannot stand their presence, they are fucking insufferable. the only solace I can receive is them getting downvoted and argued with for their horrid takes about ford.

If you just want my opinion on Akane's line, Akane takes Kana's acting detours personally because she loves her as an actress. She feels that instead of doing what she wants and acting the way she wants, Kana has been catering to other people. And she is right. The only thing she doesn't know is that Kana has kept practicing, but Akane is thrilled to find out that Kana still has it in her because she is actress!Kana's biggest fan lol

I don't think the staff is indifferent to Akane. I distinctly remember one of them was thrilled when Akane topped the weekly female character popularity list, and some Japanese Kana fans replied to them to complain about them showing favoritism 😂 So basically, just ignore them! Block if you need to!

Back to the anime though, I personally do find it kind of disappointing that Akane has gotten so little merch and that every other drawing is Kana. The anime staff aren't the only ones who do this though, even Mengo just drew Kana for Natsucomi lol So it really feels like they all jus treated this as the Kana season. Whether this was done deliberately or simply to stay true to the source material which does highlight Kana during this portion of the story, we'll have to wait until S2 to find out. If Akane gets the same treatment, then they were just staying true to the source material. If they somehow find a way to keep highlighting Kana despite her limited focus during the two upcoming arcs, then we will know for sure and we'll also know what to expect in the manga lol

That said, guys, I'm sorry 😭 I keep getting Kana & Aq/Kan related asks so I'll start skipping them unless they're about something I personally want to comment on. If you just want to vent, I get you and you're more than welcome to vent away in my inbox! But I hope you don't mind that I don't reply to it. I just want my blog to go back to Akane and AquaKane, the way it's supposed to be lol

people seem so unimpressed with jo koy's joke about there being more shots of taylor swift at nfl games, but it's like. as much as the joke was about taylor swift, i think it does acknowledge that it's the nfl choosing to put her on those screens, through no fault of her own. it's not really making fun of swift so much as it is poking fun about how everyone has been making a big hullabaloo re: her new relationship, but jo koy's getting so much flack for it and it doesn't seem fair. it's just a joke, and she has legions of fans. she's fine. she doesn't need people to stick up for her, and the joke didn't even attack her as a person. if you're mad about jo koy's joke, please calm down.

the worst thing about the last of us becoming a tv show is the fact that we now ONCE AGAIN have a wave of brand new homophobic fans who never even played the games crying about "wokeness" being "forced". hate to break it to you but bill and ellie were gay long before the show was even an idea, and there is more lgbt rep to come if they follow the original plot into the sequel.
