Future Trunks Deserves Better Ships
So fanfic with Future Trunks is very limited. But here are the pairings that I have read or seen when searching for fics in the past:
Trunks/Past 18
Trunks/Future 18
Trunks/Broly (crackship based on DBZA)
Trunks/Mai (most prominent pairing now due to DBS)
Trunks/Female OC (never read any fics with this)
I have a question: why is Trunks constantly paired with people who are WAY older than him?
Trunks is literally the good boy next door type. I can see him getting on well with a variety of women. And Toriyama or whoever decided to pair him with MAI, a woman who was a gag villain in dragon ball?? At least 18 was a fleshed-out character. My boy Future Trunks deserves better!!! Mai is literally Bulma's age or older! She could be his mom!
Out of all the ships, I think Trunks/Past 18 is the best. The age gap would be lesser compared with future 18 and past 18 has the benefit of not being responsible for Trunks' trauma. I read a fic a few weeks ago called "Butterfly Effect" that had Trunks/past 18 as the main ship and it was so good. The downside is that Krillin does not get with 18 but Krillin got another love interest in that fic and I am not a diehard Krillin/18 shipper so I hardly cared.
Trunks/future 18 is interesting. I read a great fic where the OG Trunks (the one killed by Imperfect Cell) was brought back to life and ended up marrying his future 18. They had a daughter together. I loved the character development which made their enemies to lovers journey feel satisfying. However, the issue with Future 18 being paired with Trunks is that she is half responsible for his suffering. Even if it turns out she was mind-controlled, it was still her. Plus, I have a huge distaste for the dragon balls being used to wipe Earthlings' memories so former villains (like Buu) can walk free. It's disgusting. I think Bulma or Trunks erased people's memories when the androids were dead though. But it was convenient for the ship to take off. Can't start dating 18 if you have people screaming whenever they see her and want her in jail after all. Plus, Future 18 has to be at least 16 years older than him. Ugh.
I like Trunks/Broly as a crackship. Too bad there aren't any serious fics that are completed. The only completed works seem to be porn. Anyway, this ship has issues. First the age gap again. Second, it's not a fruitful ship (pun intended). As the last protector, Trunks needs to train humans to fight and/or have Saiyan hybrid kids to teach to take up the mantle. I think you get my point about why this ship is problematic. As the last full-blooded Saiyan, it would benefit the Earth more for Broly to either meet a human female or another strong alien that could bear him kids. Imagine a hybrid with Broly's potential?! I'm pumped with excitement already as I type this!
If I were to decide the type of girl I would pair with Trunks, I would go with something like this:
A fighter like Videl. Someone with a fiery spirit with a passion to get stronger. Maybe she was traumatized by the androids and her desire to get stronger is a coping mechanism. Or maybe she just likes fighting and heard about the martial arts legends. Anyway, her journey could lead her to Trunks and he becomes her master. Training has always been a duty for Trunks. He's like Gohan in that he does not enjoy fighting. But maybe training this girl/woman could help him find fighting/training enjoyable or fun. Her passion could rub off on him and it encourages him to keep pushing his limits. She could motivate him to be better.
A girl who loves adventure like Bulma. This woman could be an alien and through shenanigans she and Trunks end up on a galaxy adventure together. Trunks has likely never travelled much and grew up in a constant warzone. I think it would be nice for Trunks to go on a fun, low-stakes adventure and meet other alien races. Maybe he could find allies/friends that could help protect Earth. Maybe he finds New Namek on the way. Maybe he finds a master to help him unlock his hybrid potential more. Trunks needs a teacher after all. It would be nice for Trunks to have a relationship with a kind of girl that helps him relax and discover his inner child. Someone he can have fun with.
A girl of service/duty. Kind of like Padme from Star Wars. Someone who understands and can empathize with his burden of protecting the Earth. Maybe she works in a nonprofit or something where she is on the front lines helping people every day. She would have grown up traumatized by the androids and lost loved ones like Trunks did. They can help each other heal as they forge a new family together.
Anyway, I did not intend this to become an essay. I just love Future Trunks and I am so disgusted with his (not) canon pairing. It's like that bastard Toriyama checked his female characters catalogue and dumped Trunks with the first one who was still single. Future Trunks deserved better and DBS will never be canon to me! At least GT left Future Trunks with his happy ending. Screw DBS and screw Mai!

Me earlier: You know, maybe I was too harsh on GT. People say it’s better in Japanese, so maybe I’ll give it a go watching the subs.
(Watches the subbed version of the Black Star Dragon Balls saga. Gets increasingly bored and annoyed while viewing it before outright rage quitting at episode 15)
Me Now: Never Mind, it still sucks!
(Goes back to watching Tenchi Muyo! while waiting for new Dragon Ball Super episode starring Krillin and 18 to be streamed)

10 Toxic Anime Couples We Wish Would Break Up Already
https://www.cbr.com/toxic-anime-couples-break-up-worst/
What a feeling it is, to be in love. It's a popular belief that there's someone out there for everyone, a Yin to every Yang,  a lid for every pot and so on. The same can be said for anime characters and there's nothing like seeing two characters with great chemistry deciding they belong together.
Unfortunately, not all relationships are created equal. In fact, there are many that are downright toxic. Incompatible, inconsiderate, mean-spirited, abusive, or just wrong on so many levels, here's some examples of anime couples that make you wonder why these characters haven't just broken up already.
10. SASUKE AND SAKURA FROM NARUTO AND BORUTO
It's no secret that Sakura has been in love with Sasuke for a long time. It was even a dream come true for Sakura when the two were put on the same team together, but from day one the romance between them has always been one-sided. Sasuke originally had little to no interest in Sakura. Even after she admitted her feelings in tears, Sasuke seemed to care very little about her.
It continued this way even after Sasuke attempted to kill Sakura and yet despite that, the two eventually got married and had a child. Unfortunately for poor Sakura, Sasuke is a bit of a deadbeat who's rarely ever home to be around his wife or daughter. If their relationship has proven anything, it's that Sakura has the patience of a saint.
9. JOSEPH JOESTAR AND SUZI Q FROM JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE
The second JoJo may be a master of Hamon techniques and outwitting his enemies, but he has no understanding of romance or matters of the heart. Joseph met Suzi Q when he trained with Lisa and they were later married at the end of "Battle Tendency."
Joseph is guilty of being consistently inconsiderate to Suzi, losing his temper when she forgot to tell his friends he was actually alive and keeping her in the dark about their daughter's condition during "Stardust Crusaders." However, his worst act was during "Diamond is Unbreakable," where it's revealed Joseph had an affair with Tomoko Higashikata, who would bear his illegitimate child. They surprisingly didn't divorce, even after that.
8. GOKU AND CHICHI FROM DRAGON BALL Z
Maybe this one was doomed from the start, considering Goku thought marriage was a kind of food at first. Goku may be DBZ's most powerful warrior, but his skills as a husband and family man could use work.
Goku's mind is focused solely on fighting and getting stronger, which leaves little time for things like spending time with his family or getting a job to support them. It's not that he doesn't care for them, it's more that he doesn't understand that they need him on a personal level. On the other side of things, Chichi's high expectations of Goku cause her to often lash out when she feels he's not doing his part. Between Goku's naïve, free spirit and Chichi's angry outbursts, it's clear they're just not compatible. It says something when even someone like Vegeta somehow makes it work with Bulma.
7. ODA AND KICHOU FROM NOBUNAGA TEACHER'S YOUNG BRIDE
A relationship between a student and a teacher is already bad. It's much worse when the age discrepancy transcends time itself. Oda is a middle school teacher whose life gets turns upside down when Kichou, a 14-year old girl from the Sengoku era, appears before him and reveals he's actually a descendant of the historical figure Oda Nobunaga and claims to be his bride. The rest of their relationship is summed up by Kichou trying to get Oda to make babies with her.
It's about as uncomfortable as it sounds. Despite the fact Kichou is supposedly much older than her appearance, that doesn't take away from the fact that she looks like she's 14 and watching her try to force herself onto Oda feels wrong for so many reasons.
6. KYOUSUKE AND KIRINO FROM MY LITTLE SISTER CAN'T BE THIS CUTE
There's absolutely no reason why these two should even be together. Kyousuke and Kirino have no chemistry. In fact, most of their interactions are just arguments and verbal abuse. Yet somehow, even though there were many girls that surrounded Kyousuke that would make for a better romantic interest, he ultimately chooses to be with Kirino for seemingly little reason.
Already it's a bad Tsundere romance, but addressing the elephant in the room makes this go from uncomfortable to extremely icky. They're also brother and sister.
5. ERIKA AND KYOUYA FROM WOLF GIRL AND BLACK PRINCE
To be fair, Erika did bring this on herself by lying to her friends that she and Kyouya, the most popular boy at their school, were dating. However, Kyouya takes advantage of this situation by going along with it, on the condition that she becomes his pet. The rest of this anime showcases just how sadistic and cruel Kyouya is to Erika, abusing her and humiliating her at every turn.
For some reason, over time Erika genuinely starts to love Kyouya and wants him to reciprocate her feelings, even though he continues to treat her like trash and withhold any kind of affection. If anything, these two are the very definition of an abusive relationship.
4. SEJI AND MIKA FROM DURARARA!!!
This romance involves a love triangle with a severed head. That is not a joke. Mika fell in love with Seji one day. However, Seji had no interest in her. Mika didn't give up though, going so far as to stalk Seji and eventually get surgery to resemble the same severed head Seji loves. After finding out the truth, Seji accepts Mika but makes clear that he will ditch her if he ever finds the real head.
The reason these two just don't work as a couple is that there's no love between them. Seji doesn't care about Mika, he's just using her to replace the head of Celty while Mika is completely fine being used as long as she's with him. There's an obsession on one side and manipulation on the other.
3. LADD AND LUA FROM BACCANO
Every couple has their way of talking intimately to their partner, but Ladd goes a little too far with Lua when he describes the ways that he'll kill her. Anyone else would find the fact that Ladd is very clearly a psychopath horrific, but Lua is almost blissfully unaware of the situation to a disturbing level.
To Ladd, Lua is just his plaything. Love isn't the word one would use to describe their relationship, they're less like a couple and more like a kidnapper and a hostage with Stockholm syndrome.
2. ENJI (ENDEAVOR) AND REI TODOROKI FROM MY HERO ACADEMIA
There's a loveless marriage and then there's this horrorshow. Enji, also known as the #2 hero Endeavor, only really married Rei so that he could have children who had both his fire quirk and her ice quirk. His hope was for a child that could surpass his rival, All Might.
The abuse Enji showed Rei and his children to reach this goal was violent, to say the least. A lot of it was left simply implied, but what is known is that it was so bad that Rei was driven to the brink of insanity,  and burned her own son. Shoto Todoroki. Afterward, she was committed to a mental hospital. All of this was the result of Endeavor trying to satisfy his own ego.
1. LOUISE AND SAITO FROM THE FAMILIAR OF ZERO
Louise and Saito are probably one of the most infamous examples of a Tsundere romance. After accidentally summoning Saito to her world from Japan, Louise makes the poor boy her familiar and proceeds to verbally and physically abuse him for any little thing.
Even though he's very clearly a human, Louise treats Saito more like an animal. Eventually, the two begin a relationship, even though nothing really changes in their relationship. Why they decide to stay together is a complete mystery, since their relationship feels both disingenuous and neither side does anything to earn the other's affection.

Two questions: First off, where did the name "angelrin89" come from? Second, what's your favorite thing about Dragon Ball GT?
angel comes from well…funny story, see before my mom even knew my gender when she was pregnant with me, my older brother who was like 5ish at the time had a dream that God and Jesus came down from heaven to tell him that my mom was going to have a baby girl and her name would be angel. When she got the sonogram that I was a girl he was ecstatic saying he knew his dream was real because Jesus talks to him lol. Later that year when I was born he was pissed at my parents because they were disobeying God and Jesus because they didn’t name me angel 😂He literally did not talk to them for a whole day.So it is sort a nickname granted no one has called me that since I was really little, but it’s still a family in-joke we all always look back and chuckle at.
rin comes from my name, Erin, also I had a friend in high school named Megumi, she moved from Japan literally that year, she was a shy girl who I immediately befriended because she was the new kid and no one should eat lunch by themselves. She called me Rin-chan, that nickname also sort of stuck with some circle of friends but I refused to let my friends call me that unless we’re all hanging out alone as I feared people would think I was some annoying 16 year old weeabo.
89 comes from the year I was born, 1989.
And as for my favorite thing? That it ended!!!

How would you classify Vegeta's characterization throughout the series?
Interesting ask as I find Vegeta to be one of the most interesting characters in the entire Dragon Ball franchise!
Now to start, in the Saiyan Saga, Vegeta was an all-around villain.
Tumblr media
In the early Namek Saga until the fight with the Ginyu force, Vegeta was still a villain in my eyes.
Tumblr media
In the mid-to-late Namek Saga, Vegeta was an anti-hero, IMHO, I say this because of the way he cried out to Goku before his death and he seemed less evil to me.
Tumblr media
In the early Android saga to the Cell Games (prior to Trunks’ death), he was an anti hero.
Tumblr media
After the Cell Games was over with towards the Majin Buu saga, Vegeta would now be a good guy, IMHO
Tumblr media
In Dragon Ball Super, Vegeta’s without a doubt good.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the end of Z, Vegeta’s a good guy.
Tumblr media
And if you want to count DBGT as canon or not, Vegeta’s good.
Tumblr media
In any case, I’m sure we can all agree Vegeta’s frikkin amazing!

Well, I finished watching Dragon Ball GT
I know I’ve been ranting a lot about this show the last two or three days. And I’m legitimately sorry to any fans of GT I might be upsetting. I’m not used to spewing this kind of anger and frustration at something. i’m really not. I try to never rant on things like I’ve been doing, I try to be civil and fair. But... something about this last saga, and just this whole show in general now, really... really... offends me. Like, it doesn’t just anger me. It doesn’t just frustrate me. This show, and especially this ending just legitimately insults me as a lifelong Dragon Ball fan.
I have another long, passionate rant in me. I’d be typing it out right now. But honestly, I’m tired and bitter and it’s getting late and I just want to go watch something good from this franchise to remind me why I love Dragon Ball so much. I can’t take being so mad and so unhappy and unsatisfied at something from this franchise I love with all my heart. It just... hurts.
If I don’t write up my final word on GT tonight, I’ll do so tomorrow. But until then, to try and sum it up for anyone who cares to listen:
Forget about what I said about the Super 17 Saga being the worst. The Shadow Dragons Saga is THE WORST saga in all of Dragon Ball. Dragon Ball GT is the worst Dragon Ball show. It’s an insult to the franchise in almost every way and deserves to be hated. Screw GT. Screw GT and everything it stands for. Nothing can make me happier now than knowing it’s now completely and utterly irrelevant and the furthest thing from canon as possible. I thought I’d give it a pass for the Baby Saga, but now that I think about it... even THAT story wasn’t all that good. At least it doesn’t excuse how awful the show is overall. Honestly, the only thing it’s accomplished is making me appreciate the original Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and especially Dragon Ball Super a whole lot more. I never want to watch this show again.

GT Goku is a gary stu
Okay, now I just finished episode 63. You know, at first I was enjoying this one. They set up the tension perfectly as Omega Shenron starts destroying the earth. And THEN we get to the biggest contrivance in the show so far.
What is GT’s obsession with making base-form kid Goku seemingly stronger and more useful than when he’s in any of his super saiyan forms. First he manages to hold off Omega Shenron’s last strongest attack for a while, despite having been severely beaten throughout the last fight without even so much as eating a senzue bean at any point in this fight, so he should be almost out of energy entirely. He wasn’t able to put up a decent fight against Omega Shenron as a Super saiyan 4, it was a curb stomp battle. So HOW is he able to hold off a full powered giant energy ball of doom in his weakest form when he’s that battered? How the HECK was he able to SURVIVE that attack without getting obliterated, long enough to mentally communicate to the people of the world to form a normal sized spirit bomb and heal himself. THEN HOW WAS HE ABLE TO SHRUG OFF A BARAGE OF ATTACKS FROM OMEGA SHENRON, WHO DOESN’T EVEN SEEM TO HAVE BEEN SLOWED DOWN BY THIS WHOLE FIGHT???!!!
And how was he able to survive it long enough to communicate with the Kai’s and gather the energy of everyone in the universe for the spirit bomb to finish the villain off??!!
This entire conclusion was a load of baloney! It’s not even that nothing Goku pulls off here makes any sense when you stop and think about it. This is just legitimately horrible writing! It kills any and all tension the episode and the entire arc had built up until that point. It throws any remaining semblance of logic to power scaling out the window, after lighting it on fire and having it land in a tub of explosive acid!
And to add insult to injury, this entire conclusion was just a rip off of how they defeated Kid Buu, except not NEARLY as good. The build up to the super spirit bomb was perfect. It brought back all the past characters and both Vegeta and the good Buu were important in holding Kid Buu off long enough for it to be formed. It felt like a natural conclusion, and like this is what the spirit bomb was truly meant for since it was introduced way back during the saiyan saga where we were just lead to believe it was a fake out when it didn’t work on Vegeta or later Freeza. And even when it was completed, it STILL wasn’t enough to overpower Kid Buu at first because Goku was out of energy! It took the final wish on the namekian dragon balls to restore Goku to full strength in order to push the spirit bomb forward to finally end that fight. The set-up and execution to the super spirit bomb was PERFECT! It was the perfect way to defeat the final villain of dragon Ball Z, and the entire sequence was just beautiful and tense and epic!
THIS WAS JUST TRIPE!! This was a pathetic attempt to just imitate that glorious moment, only BIGGER, without actually putting in the effort to do any of the things that made that moment work. It’s such a lazy re-tread and an attempt to re-capture past glory. Like the writers just went “Yep, that ending was perfect in Z. So let’s just do it again and people will still love it” instead of, you know, trying to come up with a unique and more interesting way to achieve victory over their final villain, a moment that was truly their own?
This was pathetic and aggravating. This whole saga really is some of the laziest, most awful writing I’ve seen in the franchise. I love Goku, he’s my favourite character and one of my childhood idols. But even I refuse to let him get away with being THIS REDICULOUSLY OP! This last act of this saga is just the worst, most forced attempt at drama and a crowning moment of awesome that I’ve ever seen. I hate this show. I hate it so much. AND NOW SHENRON IS HERE. So that means I have to sit through the show’s nonsensical ending now too, doesn’t it?!
This show DESERVES the hate it gets. seriously.

Unpopular opinion, I’m sure, but...
Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta is LAAAAAAMMME!
Okay, maybe not SS4 Gogeta himself. I mean that entire “Fight” between him and Omega Shenron was just a frustrating mess. The whole thing is just a tease.
Okay, so Vegeta becomes a super saiyan 4 and then immediately suggests he and Goku fuse together. We’ve got the two greatest heroes in the series combining into one being to fight the most powerful villain in the entire franchise until Beerus was introduced. An epic fight between a fusion that’s never been seen in canon and the evil physical embodiment of the dragon balls in a final showdown for the fate of the earth, and possibly the universe!! Perhaps the single greatest, most epic set up you could ask for from a fight against the final villain of Dragon Ball!
AND NOTHING HAPPENS!!!
Seriously, the entire fight amounts to Gogeta standing around while epic music plays, characters droning on, especially Omega Shenron with his cliché evil villain dialogue, and all Gogeta does is occasionally bounce the guy back by flaring his energy, flick him away with some brief hits, make lame quips and tease us with an attack that’s set up as his strongest... only to have him fire party streamers at Omega’s face? What the heck, isn’t Buu supposed to be the one with gag powers? What sense does that even make?!
This fight is just sooooo inactive. We’ve got this epic set-up with a fusion everyone had been dying to see in a full fight ever since fusion reborn came out, and the whole thing is a slow, plodding mess where almost nothing happens until Omega Shenron fires a huge energy blast he spends a minute charging up... which Gogeta simply kicks into orbit... which destroys the negative energy surrounding the earth... because apparently Gogeta was able to completely change someone else’s energy blast from negative energy to his own positive energy through that kick... WHAT THE HECK KIND OF SENSE DOES THIS MAKE!?
And then it all ends when Gogeta fires one big powerful energy attack at Omega Shenron, which hurts him a lot but doesn’t kill him (And if I’m remembering this correctly it barely even slows him down in the next few episodes, so this entire fight was quite literally pointless fanservice!). And then when he’s charging up another one to finish the guy off, he suddenly splits back into Goku and Vegeta and... THAT WAS STUPID!
This fight was the definition of boring and wasteful! It dragged on, it kept cutting away and was cluttered with too much dialogue, and it was just plain inactive. Not to mention, Gogeta just came off as annoying. Vegito’s trolling of Super Buu was amusing because he was well written and we still got plenty of action, that fight was suitably epic and amusing. THIS fight lasted 15 minutes at longest, and the majority of it is padding so Gogeta’s trolling of Omega Shenron just feels as much like he’s trolling the viewers who want to see an awesome fight. Throughout the whole thing, I just rolled my eyes and thought “Okay, okay, we get it. You’re cool. NOW DO SOMETHING COOL! PLEEEEASE!
This fight is exactly what people who hate Dragon Ball think Dragon Ball fights are like. Inactive. Just a bunch of characters talking, one or two hits every few minutes, a big energy blast that gets deflected or overpowered, then it’s over in anti-climactic fashion.
Frankly, this may be my official least favourite fight in the entire franchise because of how insultingly frustrating it is. Say what you want about the Vegito vs Merged Zamasu fight. at least that was an actual FIGHT. At least Vegito was cool and the dialogue was good. The animation of that fight was gorgeous, the choreography fantastic, there were actual hits and the tension was ramped up. It may have only lasted five minutes, but Vegito and the animators made EVERY SECOND COUNT. It was a delight to watch for what little time we had. Gogeta vs Omega Shenron was a lot longer, but A LOT LESS HAPPENED, so it feels like it drones on forever without any point.
So to sum it up, SCREW THIS FIGHT! SCREW SS4 GOGETA. SCREW OMEGA SHENRON. SCREW YOU GT!
Honestly, now that I’m almost to the end of this series, I think I’m starting to legitimately hate it like everyone else... and I still haven’t gotten to that ending, which I know for a fact I’ve always hated... uuuuuugh...
I’m sorry to anyone who’s annoyed or upset by my ranting, it’s not my intention to be a pest. But this saga has been putting me in a really bad mood.

That ask also reminds me of the scene where a bunch of adult men start hitting on Bulla and ask her to come for a ride with them. Luckily that scene had Vegeta ripping off their steering wheel and making them drive off a cliff, but you have to wonder what the writers and animators of GT's intentions were putting all that stuff with the girls in there. Like... seems a tad suspicious. That's just Japan for you, I guess...
I think they were trying to just copy the Bulma stuff from Dragon Ball but doing it wrong

Whats wrong with Super 17?
Literally everything. Everything about Super 17 is stupid and completely contradict canon. How in the hell could Gero build another 17 in Hell? First of all you don’t keep your body except in very special circumstances. Second where would he get supplies? And HOW could he build a copy of Android 17 when 17 was a human turned into a cyborg? And then make the copies fuse? And then the design of Super 17 is atrocious and doesn’t work at all. His outfit wouldn’t be so bad on another character but on him it looks horrible.

Ironic that GT fanboys criticize Super for "ruining the lore of Dragon Ball and DBZ"
I KNOW RIGHT. GT completely destroys the lore and canon of Dragon Ball. Kami made another set of somehow evil Dragon Balls that destroy the world....that still work despite Kami fusing with Piccolo? AND Piccolo needs to die a horrible death? Goku is literally reverted to a kid for most of the show. Literally everyone is useless without Goku (#GokuTime). Gero managed to build another Android 17? Literally the whole show is a crapfest that does nothing but screw up Dragon Ball. Super has actually expanded the mythology of the series.
