Who do you like better, Luo Binghe or original!Luo Binghe? I finally got to the part where the two show down against each other in the novel and I really enjoyed both versions of the character.
Well. From a narrative stand point I very much enjoy both as it is a thematic point to show the abuse vs kindness narrative and the struggle of what it means for a victim to continue that hate and trying to avoid the subjection of that expectation to follow that cycle. In that way neither can be placed above the other for me as it is intertwined in story for " White Lotus" Luo Binghe and fully Blackened Luo Binghe.
But, from a personal standpoint and preference, I vastly prefer Bingmei, as he wasn't forced to give into Xin Mo and the obsession of always wanting to find real love and validation out of a show of power and subjugation alone. He tried to show genuine love and concern that was misconstrued due to the previous Luo Binghe's reputation that just was never going to happen due to Shen Qingqui's narrative change. Him having to fight an uphill battle against a hate for who he simply is, is really very beautiful and sad. He is forced at a point to break by the end because he can't seem to avoid that fate, but with the help of another he is able to step away from that brink of a fall.
For a victim that is able to step back from the cycle, is always far more wonderful to see than one that gives in to a sad hateful world's expectation of them.

so alicents is being rped by viserys even though they're married and she "agrees" to sleep with him, cause the truth is she had no choice in that matter anyway, we can agree on that, both tg and tb, there's no thinking otherwise (and if you do, you're sick and disgusting)
and yet there are people, usually from team green, but also neutral and even black, who claim that rhaenyra should have tried harder to have children with laenor instead of just "lying with him few times"... wouldn't that be rpe? he does not want to do it, he does not feel sexual attraction to her, his orientation is against sex with women, so there's rhaenyra who refused - unlike viserys - to abuse her spouse this way
sooo do you want her to be rpist or not bc you clearly use scenario that fits you at the moment, if rhaenyra and laenor had sex more times, and their conversation on driftmark would have looked quite different, if he was against it and she would pushed him anyway "cause she has to have trueborn heirs", you would be mad at her. she sleeps with someone else to get heirs she needs, you have a problem too. and then you go and stan an actual rpist just bc he's a dude and therefore in your opinion he should get the iron throne

okay i don't want to be THAT bitch but if El calls out Mike on his bullshit in s5 how the love confession was shit and untrue i do kinda want Mike to turn around and be like "okay well what do you love me for?" because let's be real girl would not have an answer for that 💀
and maybe it would be good to be the last thing that would make her go oh i've never loved him that way either
like yes she totally should throw everything in Mike's face cause she deserves so much better but let's not pretend like she's a good girlfriend to him and it's just Mike being the problem
this fucker has been depressed and struggling for months and like did she ever even ask how is he doing? not her fault but the fact that Mike has been struggling and never once thought about talking to El because he doesn't feel like he can be vulnerable with her? the fact that he pretends he's someone he's not because he feels like she wouldn't want him for who he is? seriously no hate to El i love her to bits and yes Mike is bigger asshole in this but we really need to stop acting like El is perfect and can do no wrong
and that one time in s4 when Mike actually tried to be vulnerable with her and let her know that he understands because he's been bullied his whole life and she just invalidates his feelings and completely dismisses him? i do understand her pov and what she meant but as someone who's also been bullied and have so many people invalidate my feelings and how it affected me and still affects me to this day all the time it really hurt to hear it. the way Mike's feelings are constantly being invalidated and dismissed by both the characters in the show and this fandom just because "others have it worse" really disgusts me
anyways i really just want to point out that this is a relationship. there are two people in this relationship and it all goes both ways. it's not just Mike being an asshole friend and a shitty boyfriend. El isn't really a great girlfriend either and when they were just hanging out together the whole summer it is on El too. they're both just kids trying to do their best and making mistakes we can acknowledge that both of them make some really questionable things so they both can grow and learn

sorry but if you actually think Cancel Culture ™ is a thing then you're kinda a dumb fuck. Cancel culture isn't real, holding people accountable for their actions is a thing, but this whole narrative around Canceling that's evolved over the past few years isn't real. It's never been an actual thing. Its just a fear mongering tactic to further vilify the groups who were being harmed in the first place and victimize the person who did something wrong.
Your fav being called out for playing an antisemitic video game that directly gives profits to a hugely influential TERF, who's said openly she sees getting profits / royalty cheques from her franchise as endorsements for her bigotry, is not "cancel culture". It's called the consequences for your actions.
You have every right to do and play whatever the fuck you want, but that goes both ways. If you go out of your way to build up and financially support these people who're openly advocating to take away trans people's rights, then you get to deal with people not trusting you because of it. You get to deal with trans and Jewish folks not feeling safe around you, not wanting to be around you or not wanting to talk to you. Because you have shown that you care more about nostalgia and temporary personal emotional gratification over the wellbeing and safety of those communities in the real world.
People have explained why supporting HL is wrong, people have explained why it's harmful, people have explained in detail the issues with this situation. You. Just. Don't. Care. You don't listen, or read, because in the end, you can't be bothered enough to put in the effort of having 1 moment of critical thinking.
It's not that folks don't have arguments or evidence, it's that it clearly does not matter to you. It's that the value of an antisemitic game full of one horrific thing after another is worth more to you than the real, living breathing people who are going to be, and have been, affected by this.
You come across as a bad person. Not because some person on Twitter determined you must be, but because your actions speak far louder. And they're screaming red flags.
I'm not going to argue with you over your own bad decisions and life choices. You've made your bed and are mad that people are telling you to lie in it.

I think a lot of people don't understand that while trans men* very rarely have any foothold against cis women misogyny-wise, its also very rare for trans women** to be able to wield any power against either of those groups, misogyny-wise in particular. Like, cis women fuck over trans men in discussions of reproductive justice and excuse it with all manner of ridiculous excuses but the same thing happens all the fucking time to trans women in feminist discussions/spaces and it comes from all sides, trans and cis.
I think discussing misogyny and feminism and being trans inclusive is very, very important. But it means fuck all to trans inclusion if you're not actively fighting transphobia/transmisogyny/intersexism, ect, ect as well and it means fuck all if we can't discuss the fact some of y'all are only blaming men for the restriction of reproductive rights in places like the US while ignoring the white supremacy and intersectional bigotry at hand and excluding trans men from your activism because you want something simple and familiar, like feminism before you pretended to give a fuck about trans people. It means fuck all if we can't discuss the fact some of y'all want 2010 feminism back because you're transmisogynistic assholes who never worked through your bullshit. It means fuck all when we STILL CAN'T discuss the fact TERFs and radfems recruit trans men and AFAB transmascs because they know the power y'all can hold in feminist spaces over trans women and they'll own up to that even if plenty of y'all won't. It means fuck all when plenty of cis women will actively exclude trans men from discussions of misogyny because they really don't want to understand how trans people fit into feminism. It means fuck all if we can't discuss the fact feminism means NOTHING while most folks, trans and cis alike, ignore intersexism unless it'll handily prove some sort of point.
It means fuck all if we don't acknowledge the state of feminism is abysmal and will go nowhere if no one wants to put in the fucking work. And putting in the fucking work DOES mean acknowledging privilege, it does mean working to understand these systems of oppression, it does mean actually understanding intersectionality instead of treating it like a subtract or addition problem in a second grade textbook.
I've rambled here but I'm trying to say y'all have got to at least admit you HAVE these privileges in order to ask yourselves the important questions. Like: do I want liberation more than I want to oppress someone else? And: how many friends am I willing to lose for the right reasons?
*Or other trans folks who fall into a similar societal position, like a lot of transmascs
**Or other trans folks who fall into a similar societal position, like a lot of transfems

Ok... I swore to myself I wasn't gonna make another negative MAWS post, that I was just gonna leave it at the Twink Slade disappointment post.
But apparently there's this trend that's been happening on Twitter, where people are trying to bring up the 2004 "The Batman" designs to try and defend the designs of the MAWS rogue gallery. And that was the territory I CANNOT let go, as someone who is a fan of Jeff Matsuda and his character designs.
SO FIRST, LET ME CLARIFY: I'm simply making ONE post about ONE factor of MAWS that irritates me. I'm not here to just sit and constantly bash on the show. I wouldn't do that, I have a personal close friend of mine who enjoys the show and I'm happy for her and I want her to enjoy the show. I have SO many gripes and reservations but I recognize those are personal.
I'll be putting this under a Read More and tagging it as Anti-MAWS so MAWS fans don't have to read/deal with this post. Probably just don't read my tags as well.
So if there's one thing that has irked me the most about MAWS, it's the redesigns and rewrites of Supes' rogue galleries. Mostly the redesigns though. MAWS took a bunch of colorful, diverse, and fantastical designs and made them monotonous, bland, and simply not fun at all. And yes, while the in-universe explanation (Being that they're all mechanically enhanced rather than freak accidents or born that way) makes sense, it still makes the villains incredibly un-appealing. EVERYONE is in boring black, white, and gray armor (aside from Parasite and while I think his physical design is neat I have issues with his character rewrite too, I'm just not here to discuss that). Everyone who had incredibly fun or creative designs was horribly washed out. Silver Banshee went from being a literal ghostly wraith to a boring motorcycle-looking chick. Livewire went from a vibrant blue lightning motif (that SHE herself created) to boring merc armor. And yes, I have issues with Slade's armor, the head was promising but the overall design has color-balancing issues.
Now let's look at the redesigns of the rogue gallery for the 2004 "The Batman" show. These are mostly drastically different from their original design counterparts, just like MAWS. But the massive difference is that most of these designs are still colorful (where it applies, obviously not to Penguin), recognizable, and push the borders of imagination; They're so ludicrous and exaggerated in their design and their physical features. Even if I was disappointed in some of the character rewrites (Like Mr. Freeze having only a small cameo to Nora in the flashback, but mainly being another selfish thug), the designs are still great. You can look at The Batman villain designs and easily recognize them because they follow the basic structure of their original designs.
Joker:
Is still in his green, purple, and orange color palette, with his trademark freakish grin. The design takes creative liberties with the spiked hair, the more athletic physique, and the actual clothing style of his outfit, but this is clearly meant to be Joker.
Mr. Freeze:
Is now essentially a cryomancer thanks to his mutation, but this is still obviously Mr. Freeze. Some kind of helmet (in this case encased in his own ice) wearing a thermal freeze suit, and his red eyes invoking the red goggles he wore in his original iteration.
Catwoman:
The design exaggerates a lot of features of the OG outfit, like the ears and the goggles (though the OG design really just has eye spaces), and uses shades of crimson and purple, but you look at the black bodysuit and the whip around her waist and she can clearly be identified.
The main argument I'm making with the 2004 Batman designs is that they're A) recognizable to their original counterparts by invoking the same color scheme and basic design points, B) Colorful and pushing the lunacy of a world full of supervillains, and C) Completely stand out from each other, no two villains look as though they're of similar origins (besides obvious pairs like Joker/Harley Quinn and the two Clayfaces, the latter which was a guy who took concentrated serum made from Ethan Bennett's Clayface DNA). The Batman designs are good because while they ARE drastically different from their original counterparts, they honor the original designs.
Whereas in the MAWS redesigns, none of the redesigns are reminiscent of their original counterparts (besides the obvious Brain and Monsieur Mallah, kind of hard to fuck that up), and lack the fantastical element that The Batman redesigns (And the original Superman show, where it applies) had.
Livewire:
Looks nothing like her original counterpart. The armored clothes, the lack of lightning motif, lack of color to her outfit (I'm not here to talk about the race-swapping), none of it is supposed to tip you off to being Livewire, especially when her character is written so drastically different. You should be able to tell who Livewire is BEFORE you see her powers.
When OG Livewire looks like this:
Silver Banshee:
Is just a regular human in drab clothing. There's some kind of attempt to give her the hint of a ghost motif with the bone legs, but then that disappears in her later costume design. Same later costume that tries to half-ass a skull motif on the helmet but it doesn't work with the helmet's angles.
When this is Silver Banshee's original design (going with a still from Batman Unlimited)
And if they wanted to stray from the whole "supernatural" aspect, they could have compromised like they did in Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay:
Which I mean I still don't like that redesign as much as Silver Banshee's OG design, but it's still recognizable and it's still cool.
The bottom line is basically this: You don't have to justify liking this new Superman show and its take on new characters. But to try and say the character designs on MAWS are like the 2004 "The Batman" cartoon redesigns is such an unequal and imbalanced comparison. The thought process for the character designs in these shows are so drastically different from each other, and the execution of said character designs aren't comparable.
