Plsss batsplat drop a nice cozy place to talk motogp that is not this hellhole! twitter? Reddit? Old bar in my hometown? Plsss
idk man i'm quite possibly the worst possible person to ask about this because my motogp fandom experience before like a year and a bit ago was a deliberately solitary experience 😭 i'm not actually built for the discourse trenches ... idc enough about this stuff to discourse ... but if you had to rank all the social media sites
meet me 🥺🥺 in the comments 🥺👉👈 under old motomatters articles 🥺: carries the rare distinction of being an internet comment section worth reading. tightly moderated enough to cut out 80% of the most annoying talking points. gives you a range of viewpoints and often genuinely insightful. obviously you can't comment there anymore, which is a bit of a limitation
reddit: like all of reddit, has very gradually improved over the past decade. all sports subreddits are overly reactive and dominated by fans of whoever the big names currently are, but they do at least earnestly engage with the sport As A Sport. then again, they have no appreciation for narrative and also the understanding of human psychology there is downright asinine. anyhow, the mods went on an authoritarian bent last year i'm a HUGE fan of by banning ALL discussion of the marc/valentino rivalry. i always used to think the tennis subreddit should ban all big three fans and force them to debate the same tired talking points in a separate sub for eternity as a sort of huis clos-type deal - which they never did, but DID mostly banish it to a permanent thread for that purpose. it's made both subs so so much better!! god bless, shame they don't let you write essays speculating on drama from twenty years ago on there
tumblr: before last year, i had a wary attitude towards following sports on tumblr,, didn't know motogp was even a thing on here but the tennis community actively offended me. f1 was sort of my exception because i don't take that seriously as a sport anyway so it's fine. but i cannot stand when people do not engage with the sport as an actual sport... wheel knowledge on this site truly abysmal... i typed up and deleted further thoughts here a couple of times but it's maybe a bit much to take wild potshots at a community i'm in the process of posting in, so. to be delicate. let's leave it at that. i do like how many asks people send on here that simulate outside interest for hopelessly niche topics, a function previously fulfilled by the voices in my head
old motogp forums: funny to browse and occasionally quite insightful, but objectively all these people are clinically insane and more than a little homophobic. pigeon brain sports viewers
twitter: i have a list with motogp sites/journalists that has been a very handy tool over the years, but the fandom is - not to be rude - so fucking ass. i have never seen a single worthwhile opinion about motogp from a fan on twitter
anyway yeah hometown pub probably as workable an option as any of these

I've been watching top many of Blake Jennings "witch characters from blank can say the bad word for gay 🚬" youtube shorts / tiktoks and have been inspired to make this. (I'm a fruity trans man, i can say it. pls no slur discourse, this is for shits and giggles. not putting it under a spoiler bc i like scaring the straights. this my blog.) luther: no, but has been called one a few times. true ally if I've ever seen one. MIGHT be queer but the show runners never cared enough and its too risky to say yes. diego: he's bi but a bit too cis macho man for his own liking so i feel like he'd be too insecure to say it. he really needs to explore his queerness though, maybe he will find the strength to use his pass one day. Lila can easily help with this. Allison: no but if she called me one, i feel like shes either trying to fit in with the queer siblings....or being s3 Allison, witch are two very different situations........but no. klaus: bitch, he invented the word. that man is very word for queer under the sun and back around. he can say it and says it proudly. Five: thinks he can't, would never want to...... in till he realizes he's queer, then its flying out of his mouth almost daily. i don't even think he has THAT strong of a 🚬pass, he just knows he has one. and whose stopping him? its hilarious. he says it very seriously too and at moments no one would expect. it always jump scares someone. ben: he cant and doesn't want to but he's so used to Klaus saying it that it might slip into conversations. Klaus will never correct him because hearing Ben call him one when mildly frustrated is funny af and he knows theres 0 venom behind it. Ben would feel bad though and apologize. Viktor: he 100% can but doesn't really want to. BUT the local queers around his bar have given him the D word pass and love calling him one. so he calls himself that a lot more. city queers who don't touch queer twitter discourse don't care, that's one if they have ever seen one and they love him dearly.
Lila: shes British. whether she can or not is irrelevant to her saying it anyway with FULL PASSION. (she can btw. that's a nonbinary bisexual who has had cop blood on her boots on numerous occupations.)
bonus: sparrow Ben: he....he really cant guys....please stop letting him get away with this. idc if he's a pathetic wet meow meow and very clearly queer man in s3.....h...he just cant.... no one who gets into crypto can. that's the rules.

thoughts about JK and the hat situation? I didn’t see anything about it til his letter but… oof. I can believe it was a thoughtless choice, and just wearing it to rehearsal doesn’t = making some public statement - I’m not seeing it as him somehow revealing his true political colors, but I’m maybe a little disappointed? I hate idols getting analyzed to death for every little thing, but is it unfair to think he should’ve known better on this one?
idk if it’s cause I’m in the US, but I can’t see “Make ____ great again” without the association at least coming to mind… I’d sure think twice before wearing it. sure he’s been more isolated in the military, but the slogan’s made it around the world at this point, and been used by Korean politicians as well. and then it’s obviously not by his doing, but for better or worse the “sold out king” is still going strong, and you’ve got the hat brand waving it all over their socials.
anyway, the kpoppies on twitter acting like it’s a right wing dog whistle are ridiculous - above all he didn’t have to apologize, and it speaks to his character that he tried to get out ahead of it and did anyway. in spite of myself though, I’ve just still got a bit of bad taste in my mouth. Bringing my thoughts here cause you’ve always got a rational, measured perspective, god knows the general discourse is always a shit show.
and then alll of that said.. jesus what a welcome back to idol life, most of all with the stalker and now this whole thing? that’s gotta be one rough fuckin transition. hope he’s doing ok.
Thank you for sending such a reasonable sounding ask. It feels like we can talk as adults about this, without making some strong statements based on our love or hate over one idol.
I understand your complicated feelings over it, especially given the current political situation. Not just in the US, but basically everywhere. Leaning more and more toward the extreme right wing, populism and the huge polarization between parties/ideologies is something that has direct effect on our lives.
Given all these sentiments, I can play the devil's advocate and say I understand why any sort of perceived commentary/affiliation is heavily scrutinized by people and sometimes it's justified, other times it escalates for no real reason.
I believe (and this is important because it's my opinion as I'm not in Jungkook's mind) that the hat & phrase was a parody and not homage to the original meaning behind it. We now filter so much through references, jokes and memes, from serious topics to entertainment. It's why I thought it was funny when I first saw the hat this morning. It was stupid funny and ridiculous.
Now, do we live in a time in which media illiteracy and anti-intelectualism is the norm, especially on the internet? Yes.
Does that mean that so much discourse is created by people who lack any real knowledge and thus it leads to the creation of meaningless rage and just looking to create conflict? Also yes.
Does it mean that idols should be hounded even when there is not enough evidence that indicates political affiliation? No.
Does it mean that Jungkook should have been more careful and not put himself into a situation that can create misunderstandings/conflict? Yes, he should have.
I personally find it absurd that he even apologized, but I can also understand why he did it and I showed character that he jumped immediately on it without making excuses for himself.

Is this a hot take to say some people treat RPF way too seriously in comparison to other types of fiction?
I keep reading proship discourse stuff and feel like I personally definitely cannot post anything I want because a guy I like got cancelled on Twitter lol
Hmm maybe?
I'm a bit iffy on RPF myself. But obviously, a lot of content creators encourage it, and with a lot of celebrities its not something they'll really see.
However, there's also been smut written of real minors, and whilst the smut may be fiction, using real children's description and names is just so wrong to me. And then, with so many youtubers and streamers, people send them and tag them in fanfiction, knowing full well it will make them uncomfortable.
Basically, I think it depends. People writing smut of tommyinnit when he was freshly 16 and some people even sending it to him when he even had a boundary against it?? Wrong. I don't think people should do that.
Hamilton? All dead guys, funny as fuck.
Dan and Phil.? Became an issue when people treated the real guys like characters, but they have always pandered and encouraged the ship fics. Fine as they're adults and have no boundary against it
Either way, there is nothing I can do about it and I'm not sure what I would want to do anyway. Unless the fanfic is written of me, personally, I have no reason or ability to report it or anything of the sort. So I'm still just going to block and move on when I see it.
But I am personally against and don't agree with certain types of RPF.

Hi I’m not sure if you’re aware put people are going around screenshotting your tumblr and sharing it on callout and adult yume hate tweets. I felt so weird messaging that’s why anon but I wanted to let you know about it, with the harassment and doxxing that has happened recently! I’m a fellow Jack yume and adore your art so this is sad to see.
This is one of the occurrences.

So called ''normal people'' when they got nothing to do
Yeah I'm aware of the rabid anti-yume swarm in twitter..... I've seen plenty of moots getting hate campaigns and being doxxed to the point where I'm almost desensitized to it. What's the point of persecuting yumeshippers?? Especially the adult ones who quite literally keep the game alive and running for consuming and making content and buying merch? So they can feel entitled to the non-existent anime boy and feel morally superior for not having ''disGusTInG THOUGHTS'' about an imaginary little guy despite literally commiting a cybercrime and thinking they've just did a favor society?? Truly a priviledged chronically online teenager moment™
I was already expecting to get hate at some point but thankfully I've been focusing on my academic and social life lately so discourses online just seem more and more insignificant and irrelevant (as they always should be) going outside and touching grass is really healing and important to make you realize that there are greater irl problems to worry about than protecting fictional characters and harassing strangers on the internet, everybody should do that methinks 🧡
I might be a target of doxxing one day and honestly??:? I don't care. It's gonna be funny as hell. Cause it's probably some american teenager who thinks that doxxing an user in another country is gonna make the FBI arrest me for kissing my fictional blorbo in my head and that I'll be beaten up on the streets lol. Mini Karen, I assure you no one in south america cares about fictional character discourses to the point of making threats as much as people in the US do (and u guys somehow think that's normal behaviour) much LESS in my city, it's gonna do nothing 😭
Anyway, thanks for the heads up!!! I hope you thrive with your yume with Jack, he needs more love, don't let gatekeeper losers ruin your vibe 💗💗💗💗

reading cr discourse posts as someone who's super behind on c3 and likely will never bother to catch up has looped right around from me wanting to hit something to being funny as fuck. matt introduces so many new place and character and organization names that even though i'm very familiar with ~250 episodes of cr across all the campaigns, i have no fucking clue what anyone's talking about except for the odd pc name or guest character that i'm like "i THINK that one's emily axford? but who knows"
discourse posts that read like "i can't BELIEVE that y'all [charlie brown adult noises] [static buzzing] matt LITERALLY confirmed on twitter that [screeching feedback] [dialup tones] and when orym told fearne that [kazoo noises] [wilhelm scream] come on people it's OBVIOUS that the conflict between [accordion crashing down a staircase] anyway, this is the exact same thing that happened when laudna [slide whistle] [clown nose honk] so i don't know why i'm surprised. always the same with this fandom."

Due to the large amount of debating on Twitter around stunts and forcible closeting and who gains what from the partnership, let’s talk about stunts as someone who works in the industry and has a degree in this shit, baby!!!
Okie dokie. Stunts are just about our least favourite thing in this fandom, and we watch the boys get exploited, used, and see that they are thoroughly and visibly upset during pap shots and any public event with said stunt. I will be touching on bbg here, as a warning. But this will look particularly at Harry’s stunts, a bit more than Louis’, because people seem to all be fighting about Harry and TR at the moment, and there have been a lot of nasty things said between solos and larries and yeah… let’s have a chat about this all, so you folks can have a little more context of behind the scenes, and also a more thorough understanding than just “that stunt gf is using him for his fame and is part of the problem by forcibly closeting that artist”. Sooooo yeah, let’s get into it. I’ll break this down by Harry/Louis, and we can have a good look into this together. Feel free to hit me up in my inbox for any questions/comments etc., my loves. A lot of this stuff you might already be aware of, but yeah. Just thought I’d do something a bit more in depth while all this discourse is happening.
Harry - a brief history of stunts/his image, and why TR is his beard right now
So, we are all certainly aware of Harry’s past, with everyone from Caroline Flack, to Taylor Swift, to Kendall Jenner… the list goes on and on. His image was doctored to fit the ideal womaniser - sweet and funny, but flirty and cocky. If he was marketed as a dick, no one would idealise him, obviously. So he was allowed to be himself, as the sweet boy we all know, with the exception of flirting with every woman that breathes, and bedding them immediately, before moving on. He was still desirable like this. He was still seen as somewhat attainable, because he was never tied down. He didn’t do long term, he did one night stands and would keep women around long enough until the next pretty little (famous) thing came along. They wanted him to be seen as a sexual being, as so many young male boy bands are full of “goody two shoes” and are little happy cherubs who sing about what makes you beautiful, not waking up with a hard on.
So, his image flowed with the times. They seeded that baby as a womaniser, so when the band got older, he could be seen with multiple stunts, and be even more attainable than someone with a long term partner (Louis) because he didn’t fall in love. He was sex, and rock n roll, while playing innocent as well. It was a different twist to your usual “bad boy” narrative… the young girls saw him as a beautiful sweet angel, and the older girls thought they had a chance to have sex with him (multiple “receipts” that said Harry asked for numbers from fans and took them backstage after shows also posted on Tumblr/Twitter which the older fans had accounts on). They covered the very wide demographic that one direction had with this image, while keeping him closeted. S*mon always thought he was gonna be the main boy, so why not do whatever they can to give him even more PR? Two birds one stone, right?
Anyway, stunting is, and always has been, a crucial part of PR. The general public, and fans, are always interested to know the love life of celebrities. It causes drama, and gossip, and pays for the families of Paps, journalists, interviewers, etc. ya know? These folks would have a pretty boring job if they couldn’t spread gossip. They get paid more to do so, so it’s just the circle of life in the music industry. Almost all the jobs around an artist are there because of stunts. There’s only so many times a reporter can comment on what Harry is wearing if he’s not seen with someone else.
Anyway, this day and age, stunts have become pretty see through. We can spot one a mile away, anticipate articles, and guess what’s coming next. It’s embarrassing really. But, in the earlier days of stunts, it used to be a mutually beneficial agreement. Celebrity A “dates” and is spotted with Celebrity B, who both have large fandoms and make a lot of money (HS and TS). So, being seen together makes sense. A power couple, if you will. Two of the biggest stars on the planet, joining forces, exposing their already established fandoms to the other person’s music, and both of them gaining more followers, more money, and more clicks in the media. It’s the same with the OW shit show that happened… however, that was marketed as a 2 year long stunt, his longest yet, and was obviously to promo the movie. But, being his longest public relationship as of yet, they kinda dragged him away from the womaniser image a bit. Makes sense, right? He’s getting older, settling down a bit… he’s becoming a professional, not fucking the fans of his boyband backstage, and sleeping with every hot celebrity he sees.
However, because of a lot of these stunts are now being exposed and superficial af, they have tried a different kind of stunt, that, while we’ve seen before in different “womanising” artists, they do this to boost a positive image of the artist in question, and move them away from their… multiple sexual escapades. This is what I like to call the “Girl Next Door” stunt, which is exactly where Harry is at now, and where Louis has been all throughout his stunts.
The Girl Next Door stunt shows the public “oh wow, he’s not superficial!!! He’ll date someone who isn’t super famous and he loves them for them!!! He isn’t using her!! He’s attainable and would date someone like me because I’m not super famous!!!” narrative. Which, for Harry, pulls his image back towards being more “real” and authentic, and, for the fans, causes them to defend him because of this. They don’t see it as an obvious stunt because why the hell would this be mutually beneficial for Harry? Why would he bother to continue agreeing to closet himself with someone who isn’t gonna give him any PR from their own fandom? Who the paps are gonna wonder who she is? Well… it’s because he’s a sweetie pie baby boy cherub angel who doesn’t care about fame and fortune, just treats people with kindness and has fallen in love with someone who wasn’t really in the public eye to begin with. Wow. What an incredible guy.
And while you may say “hang on, TR wasn’t totally unknown, she had a following”, her following was nothing compared to Harry’s before they got together. So, with the above in mind about how this positively boosts Harry’s image, you can see why this is mutually beneficial. It’s not always about the money for both sides.
But… hang on… “why would TR agree to this? She’s actively participating in the closeting of Harry? She’s not a good person!!!!!” Well… if it wasn’t her, it’d be someone else. If every celeb/person boycotted the idea of stunts and refused them due to the fact they didn’t want to closet artists, that would be great. It would be a massive shift in the industry. It would be fantastic. But… that’s just not the way it is right now. And unfortunately I don’t think it ever will be.
Closeting has existed for years in the celeb world, and it’s not just gonna go away like that. Sometimes the artists get to choose who they stunt with, and sometimes they don’t. Sometimes bisexuality is seeded juuuuuust enough to get people talking even more. But in his case right now, that’s why people are relating to TR. that’s why they’re defending her, and that’s why they’re a good stunt for now, because she’s the girl next door. See that image shift, now?
Louis - bbg, long term gfs, and the Girl Next Door
Now that I’ve explained the idea of the Girl Next Door stunt (which I’m sure a lot of you have picked up on already prior to this post), that’s exactly what Louis’ closeting and stunting has been for the past 13 years. Eleanor was an unknown, young pretty girl aspiring to be a model. They had one womaniser in the band, two would just be sleazy, so why not make him somewhat “unattainable” but still show his love and commitment and as he was the oldest of the band, he took relationships seriously? It makes him look grown up, so people can take the band more seriously. They’re not just 5 boys who are fucking everything that moved due to newfound fame. It would keep Louis closeted, keep Harry closeted but in the public eye at all times, and totally remove any possibility of them being in a relationship behind closed doors. Sounds great on paper, right? So… if Louis was the sweet, funny, long term gf boy… then why did he go out and get drunk and fuck some unknown hairdresser in a one night stand and have a baby with her, and it be so public? Let’s have a quick look…
For obvious closeting reasons, someone who is speculated to be gay having a baby is quite a clear cut. They’ve had vaginal penetrative sex, they can’t be gay… right? Bisexuality is often overlooked in the media, but, that’s a story for another time.
So, bbg makes sense. They were seeding Harry’s bisexuality/coming out over mid 2014-2015 buttttt little problem… if Harry was in fact into men, then why couldn’t he be into Louis? Larry Stylinson is no stranger to the press, and to pay off every outlet to include in their article the previous denials of Larry’s relationship in the coming out articles, was more effort than what it’s worth. So, even giving him a male stunt, larry would still be prominent in all press relating to Harry’s sexuality. So, in the plans of Harry’s (not successful) coming out, what do they do with Louis?
Long term gf man Louis became quite the party boy, and slept around with Girl Next Door types. People who weren’t famous. People who weren’t gonna help his career after one direction, nor boost his popularity and exposure. He was almost attainable to fans, as so many fans have met him at clubs before. But Harry needed to be THE one who ended up on top (no pun intended), and THE extra attainable now openly bisexual man. They just had to stop Louis from being a desirable match to pretty princess harry, and kinda pushed him to take over Harry’s womaniser image. So, what better way than to push him into being a grotty undesirable party boy who was getting fucked up and sleeping with random girls? What better way than to make him be extra closeted with a kid whose mum he’d had a one night stand with? It could’ve been any fan… right? Quite the Y/N wattpad story if you ask me…
(Anywho, this isn’t a bbg post so I won’t go into S*mon vs Louis, the big gay war, Belfast etc., I’m just talking plainly about the images to the public eye).
So, bbg sticks and is set for the long term, and so Louis still has the committed image he always did. He’s always been tied down, except… he can’t go from party boy to doting dad in one breath. So a couple of VERY short lived stunts here (including one he did by himself in protest) and there, keeps him attainable. He cares SO much about his little lad, BUT is on the look out for some lady bits at all times. Funnily enough, with women who aren’t going to actively improve his career/popularity. So… Girl Next Door attainability, long term commitment grown up responsibility, and now, stunt free (apart from bbg) for over a year. Party boy louis lives on, though. And that is certainly an interesting deep dive as to why, but again, for another time.
Overall - why the fuck is this all happening?
So, they’ve pushed Harry and Louis as far apart from each other as possible, since 2015. Their images, everything. We know this, we’ve watched it, some of us have been here for it. But why is Harry now Girl Next Door stunting? It’ll be a year of them together in a few months. It’s arguably his first stunt gf who is not popular or influential in any way. Well… his image now is happy go lucky boy who loves everyone and is sweet as pie and while he still has suggestive lyrics and moves on stage, he’s actively been pushed away further from the womaniser image through OW and TR. I believe, since he has shot to fame, they’ve decided to kick him back down and seem more attainable, with a more “realistic and authentic” stunt. It makes him look like a real person again. Obviously, it’s forced closeting and you can plainly see it makes him upset and he’s doing everything he can to move away from it, but… that’s his image for now. They’re moving away from womanising because he’s older and needs to still look attainable and professional and “grown up” (30 yrs old isn’t grown up by any means, but it’s the ageism in the industry and generally around the world that pushes this), and so this is the purpose of TR. now, you can sit here and yell about her being an active part in his closeting, which she is, but if it wasn’t her, it would be someone else. Solo Harries who believe in them being together, would be stanning another chick if she was in TR’s place. It’s a Copy of a Copy of a Copy. Get mad at the teams behind Harry and Louis, not at the girls participating in it. (BBG is somewhat of an exception bc who tf would actively put a baby through that but whatever, the promise of money can sway people like crazy).
In short, Long-Term Tomlinson and Harry Sly-les are still in full force, but in an adjusted way to seem more authentic. Because in this day and age, where everything is fake, authenticity sells.

ABOUT
Hello, I’m Gabe! I’m a queer, Jewish hobbyist artist/writer with a ceaseless obsession for character creation. I’m a trans man, and I exclusively use he/him pronouns :)
I live in Canada with my roommate/best friend/RP partner/guy I bother, and my rancid little budgie Genji, whom I love terribly. I have a nasty habit of creating tons of characters and then never doing anything with them, kind of like a dead-beat father
Outside of art and character creation, I love dragons, video games, hiking, literature, film, paleontology, and animals/zoology. I’m currently in university, double majoring in English and biology!
Autism/ADHD/OCD/anxiety and physically disabled as well. I’m terrible at messaging people first, but I am always delighted to get messages <3 I’m awkward, but I love chatting. Also feel free to ask me to tag things!
On testosterone since July 25th, 2015
Post top surgery since October 26th, 2017
Post hysterectomy since August 6th, 2020
Currently on the wait-list for phalloplasty!

HEADS-UP
This isn’t really a DNI or a BYF, but more of a heads-up about the kind of content I reblog and my general takes on things. I don’t engage in discourse on here, like ever, but I figured I should include this anyway
This is probably a given, but I block conservatives/terfs/bigots/etc. on sight
I identify as queer and I use the (reclaimed) f-slur pretty frequently. I don’t tag reclaimed slurs
I do tag triggers as thoroughly as I can (nsfw/nsft, blood, transphobia, etc.) Please let me know if I ever forget to tag a trigger!
On that note, I’m an adult, and I frequently reblog/discuss things with mature themes (mostly jokes tbh). I also swear a lot. This isn’t an nsfw blog or anything, but y'know
I’m a furry, and I reblog (sfw) furry art. I may be cringe, but at least I’m free :3
I love the horror genre, and I sometimes reblog horror stuff. I tag anything with blood, gore, injuries, or body horror, but I don’t ever reblog legitimate/intense gore
My general political take on things is that every human deserves basic human rights, and violence or bigotry of any kind (transphobia, racism, antisemitism, ableism, misogyny, homophobia, etc. etc. etc.) is bad, actually
For my own mental health, I don’t answer inflammatory asks, or asks about topics I’m not comfortable with
Ask games are totally okay! I don’t really do “send this to 5 other people” type ask games, but I appreciate the sentiment nonetheless ^_^
Oh yeah. I should mention that I love MCYT (Minecraft YouTube), specifically Hermitcraft and the LifeSMP, and I post about it a lot, including shipping content. I feel like I need to clarify that I’m shipping the characters, not the Real Human Guys playing them. This is a super minor note, but like, y'know, just in case
———
INTERESTS
Feel free to check out my top tags to see the topics and fandoms I enjoy! I’m trying to tag things more comprehensively, but sometimes I forget so please, like, bear with me <3 I frequently post…
Animals (birds, dogs, bugs, etc.)
Dragons :D
Photography and nature
Paleontology and biology
OCs and art
Jewish stuff
Whatever I find funny or interesting on my dash
Posts that give me an excuse to info-dump or ramble
Occasionally politics/social justice/current events
In terms of fandom, some of my favourite things are…
The Magnus Archives/Protocol
Minecraft and MCYT (Third Life / Hermitcraft mostly)
Pokemon
Fallout
The Elder Scrolls
Flight Rising
Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul
Dungeon Meshi
Severance
Baldur’s Gate 3
Fullmetal Alchemist
Jurassic Park/World
Nope (2022)
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Invincible
Fire Emblem (mostly Three Houses)
Infinity Train
Steven Universe
Definitely more I’m forgetting right now

Okay, I just saw your other ask about leshley/eagleone and felt like I had to get in on this because ever since RE4Make came out, I've been going crazy over this ship. I have always found it cute in RE4 OG, but now it's driving me crazy. I cannot understand how many people miss the many implications that Leon is trying to flirt during certain parts of the game. Like seriously, come on, pals, he's being so awkward, trying to sound cool and give compliments that end up sounding weirder than he intended. And I don't know if it's just me that noticed this, but I find it funny how Leon talks to Ashley in certain moments like it's the easiest thing to do; then, in other parts, he really has no clue how to speak to her. Does that not scream attraction to anyone?
i'm with you on this one. i don't know how people miss EVERYTHING about them. like they don't even go "oh?" at times when they're playing. it probably depends on the mindset you have when you're playing. if you're hyperfocused on the action, maybe you'll miss it. idk. on social media, there are two broad types of people who have negative reactions when it comes to leon/ashley:
1. aeon shippers (mostly, can be other shippers as well, but they're mostly chill because they themselves get forced into a corner by aeon stans) who think it threatens their ship
2. people who are fiercely anti-romance when it comes to whatever media they consume and consider it to be dumb and actively making a good piece of media worse (because in their eyes, romance is a lowly preoccupation to have)
and both groups are super bitter for no reason lmaoooo. you might have noticed a tendency in media discourse recently on social media that is very anti-romance - a few weeks ago, it became a whole thing on twitter because of the bear (the tv show) and the ship between sydney and carmy, to the point where even official media outlets started talking about it. romance is considered dumb. everything that contains romance is essentially a bad soap opera. blah blah blah we're all too smart for that. there's a very strong, almost puritanical anti-sex sentiment going around at the moment as well, and i wish it was just some isolated issue within fandoms overpopulated by young teens, but people lost their minds over two sex scenes in oppenheimer for god's sake. and if i had the time and willpower and knowledge, i'd turn this into a discussion about how that ties into humans being obsessed with moving away from every single instinct that they have, but well.
i also agree with the second part of your ask, about leon's attitude towards ashley. tbh, leon can't flirt for shit: most of the time, he's awkward (RE2R, the fence scene with claire: i can never tell if he's attempting to flirt, or if he's just awkward because there's a cute girl right in front of him) or even downright unfunny (was he trying to flirt with jill in death island? was he trying to lighten the mood? idk man leon is a bit of a whore so). he tries to flirt all the time: we got shen may in infinite darkness, ada, etc. we know he isn't smooth.
so one thing that really sticks out in RE4R is his tone with ashley, in two specific instances (maybe more): the one i mentioned in my previous ask, when he says "i can catch you", and when he sees ashley asleep on the bed in chapter 13 (and calls out to her). these are two very intense and high-stress situations where he kind of reverts back to RE2R leon (nick does a great job at conveying the difference in maturity in leon's voice in both games). he's very distressed. why does that matter? because fucking shouting ashley's name when there are two enemies 10 meters away (we know that, he doesn't, but the island is riddled with ganados, so why would he even try?) is the stupidest decision a special agent could make. and yet he does it anyway. there are other instances of leon being in a similar situation, yet he still retains that deeper tone of his - see his first encounter with krauser in chapter 11.
and it's not just because he's doing his job, which is what one of my friends argued, because you don't go around flirting with the person you're tasked to rescue for shits and giggles. not to mention, that's the president's daughter. if he was just doing his job, he'd stick to the plan, be stoic and get her home and that's it. that's what's required of him. implying that the first daughter is hot as fuck and that he doesn't usually enjoy his regular missions nearly as much as he does when he's with her isn't part of his job description. there's a difference between being a decent guy and not treating her like cargo, and overtly flirting with her.
i think he's also very awkward with her at first because he's toeing the line between what's acceptable and what isn't, so he can figure out if there is grounds for flirting and it's not wholly unwanted on ashley's part. then you get that pep talk in the castle, which is when they really start to get comfortable with each other and when he attempts some physical contact that isn't just 100% necessary. she reacts well, which explains why he takes it further in chapter 9. he spends the rest of the game painfully distressed and by chapter 16, they're all over each other (jetski + taking her hand to run to the elevator - leon, the girl is smart, she knows how to run and follow you).
leon has a crush. plain and simple. he doesn't know how to deal with it, except for the few times when he does and the flirting is technically reciprocated. idk how people can't notice the plain signs of attraction, even in a generation that is as recluse and introverted as mine tends to be, but they're very obvious once you start paying attention.

The marketing tactics for season 2 is ridiculous. I get it, they pander to the majority of the fanbase and that majority is TB, but why increase the level of toxicity in this already extremely toxic fandom? Everything for the money, I guess.
And I find it funny that in the recent promotion material the TB actors, especially Corlys, Rhaenys and Daemon, are literally talking shit about TG, like, "we are better looking", "we are better people" , "the greens hate each other, and we are united" the cringe "we are the thoroughbred" by Matt... The actress who plays Rhaenys literally called TG characters a bunch of knobs lmfao. And all TG actors are allowed to say in their favour are things like "we have bigger dragons"😒. And where are Otto and Helaena? Rhaena is there, but no Helaena? Anyway, this could be seen as the actors simply having fun and making references to the "arguments" used by Twitter and Reddit fans, but given the recent reactions, they failed to pass the message. Or the writing got to the actors, too. Idk, I may be overthinking this, but I'm not even looking forward to this show anymore and have a bad feeling regarding s2. I think that the green fans who still fully believe that TG characters and storylines will be done better in the next season are set up for a big disappointment.
yeah, i saw the new promo thing... i felt it was a bit cringe but what bothered me was "we are better looking" and "we are the thoroughbreds".
the first one is such a bad taste comment and instant sideeye, especially considering that even actors must have heard about the gross ass hate that tg actors, esp olivia and emily, have gotten, and the second one is just dumb considering rhaenyra's children and mother.
and not to be the bearer of bad news because i already knew this, but there will never be much green promo from green actors. tgc has always shared tb stuff along with tg stuff and seems relatively uncomfortable with greens from a morality pov imo, and olivia mostly just does rhaenicent promo and that's about it.
i think the only person who had actually tried to get the green fandom a little pumped up in the past was ewan but there was not much to work with considering the lack of interest from the production.
tbh i'm currently in a very much idgaf phase so i'm like meh. i invested too much energy in this toxic fandom and ultimately none of this matters.
i will probably get back into it as we approach s2 but honestly people should accept this show IS good guys vs bad guys and IS rhaenicent centric and all the talk from the writers or actors is silly when we see the actual product on the screen.
waiting for dunk and egg though. hopefully we can move away from team discourse for a while.

Sophie, I think the rules for the leslou fest have that tone because for the last 48 hours people have been completely vile about it (and about the organiser) on Twitter. To be honest, if I was the organiser my tone would not be so polite.
There has never been any deceit surrounding the purpose of the fest. You say you wouldn’t have a problem if it had been called “bottom!Louis fest” – what do you think ‘leslou’ is supposed to mean? But okay, sure, benefit of the doubt, maybe you genuinely weren’t aware that leslou is used to indicate top Lestat/bottom Louis – are you seriously THAT mad about having to, what? Click to read the rules? Be so fucking for real.
I’m sure you’ll disagree with me but personally I think you’re bitter because people are actively trying to curate an event that doesn’t fit YOUR preference. You cannot tell me in good faith that you’d be making a post like that if it was a bottom Lestat fest.
This event was never intended to be fandom-wide – it is specifically for those of us who like top Lestat/bottom Louis and want to see more of it, and want to participate in an event with fans who have similar interests. Sure, it isn’t going to appeal to everyone, but it isn’t supposed to! Not every event has to appeal to everyone! If you don’t like it, literally just keep scrolling.
I didn't know people had been rude about it to the organisers, anon, and I'm very sorry that they have been, but I'm a little baffled by your response to my post? Like, okay, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt too and assume you've probably seen a lot of discourse around this and assumed I was piling on - I wasn't! I genuinely thought it was funny, I'm not mad at all - I've had a really busy couple of days with Real Life Stuff and had seen the event pop up on my feed a few times, bookmarked it to have a look at wondering if it would motivate me with these WIPs if I don't get them done during Kinktober, and hell, I am writing bottom!Louis as a part of these fics (which I've been open about too, by the way!), but the second I pulled open the FAQs tonight, I just - - well. Like I said. I laughed.
Like, I don't know. Sure, think I'm bitter about not having things catered to me, I don't really care, but I do think there's a bit of a bait and switch in their posts, particularly given bottom!Louis is far and away the most popular iteration of the ship in terms of fan content? It would always get more prompts, as well as fic and art fills anyway, so the specification feels...Motivated, especially as in my long history of fandom, specific events like that were usually about - using OP's words - 'creating space' for works that don't often get much oxygen.
I do agree that not every event has to appeal to everyone, but this one - just to me personally, after those FAQs - has a little bit of a vibe that maybe some people are invested in making sure the most popular iteration of these characters stays the most popular in the hiatus. This is such a divisive fandom broadly, and I guess my point was more that that sort of thing just reminds me of that, y'know? Anyway, I really do hope people create great stuff - I read and enjoy and am currently writing bottom!Louis too after all! - and that you have fun, whether you're creating or consuming.

oh it goin DOWN on twitter
sorry for mobhundred discourse and also making this a little about me. #testimonials.
I've been staying out of it because of overlapping circles & callout posts being incendiary but I always disliked SC in a "this person is unlikable" way, didn't do anything but be self-righteous and overly sensitive. like
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'd DM my friend shit she says with her name cropped out to go "LOL", making sure not to name her because no one should be put on blast for being annoying. But "that includes telling someone to explode" is objectively funny as fuck
overall I interpreted all the sketchy stuff in the fic as like general incompetence? And stopped reading. Seeing the shit she did/wrote like the week after I cooled off from MP100 feels like an atom bomb going off behind my head like she HUH?>????
I don't actually think "neutral on proship discourse" should be a warning sign, it's well-known that discourse is meaningless namecalling. It can be necessary to state your allegiances in specifically MP100 fandom because it attracts like a SHOCKING amount of people really weird about 13-year-olds, though. Disproportionate to any other fandom I've ever been. Something in the goddamn water in that fandom stg its EVIL out there.
Anyway I think an obsessive fixation on pedophilia was the actual warning sign. The fic is constantly full of these whiplash interjects like a fixative "wow, sure hope no one thinks I'm a creep, kind of creepy lol" circling. This kind of uncharacteristic fixation is what She Doth Protest Too Much really looks like.
I don't have much in the way in personal stories because I just gave them space. Uhhh I ended up in a discord server where she was friends with just about every frequent poster and popular artist in there. I found her behaviour to be kind of argumentative, but never escalating. So I was like okay, I was being uncharitable, it's just that she's sensitive. Just because I don't like her doesn't mean I gotta be rude. She unblocked me (I was blocked for saying proship electric chair as a joke) and I so I tried to be supportive and sociable by getting into her fic for a while. And now people are posting the most singularly insane quotes I've ever seen from right after where I dropped off. Holy mary mother of god.
And ok. Not to be presumptuous. but her friend SpCh is a notorious flying monkey to the point when I made a thread about how people in the west don't really bother researching other cultures and basic aspects of other countries, assuming they know everything, and SpCh misinterpreted the entire thread so badly I can only assume she was defending SC's honour based on 1 tweet. GIRL I WAS TALKING ABOUT SCUM VILLAIN FANFIC. IF A HIT DOG HOLLERS?

your takes on CE characters are refreshing haha.
Though for me personally Steve is my baby and I will baby him until the end of time. He is my all time favorite character and is the farthest thing from a deviant or dom. I respect the people who imagine him as such but I cannot see it. I felt in the first avenger the entire movie they were disrespecting him and man was I sad for him. He was so damn earnest and positive throughout it and that’s what me cherish him. The soldiers booing him and throwing tomatoes at him. Him feeling like a dancing monkey but still found it in him to go rescue the 106th. what I loved so much about how they did the character in the first film was that even after he got the serum - he wasn’t immediately cool or accepted or even respected. He had to really earn it and I really enjoyed that gradual transition into him becoming the captain while Steve inside. But I digress. Everyone has different takes on how they feel marvel did his character and I really rather not ruin it with discourse.
But ransom - I am very intrigued by your take on ransom because most ppl tend to assume he’s evil to the core. I think he got written that way by rian johnson but Chris played him in a way that gave him a bit of a “possible redeemable” side but idk if he even meant to do that. Maybe it’s his own personality coming through - he honestly seems like even if he was trying to be this awful human being he can still be lovable. It’s like you can’t really hate him even if you’re supposed to. Idk how he does it.
It’s funny, when defending Jacob came out there was a split on twitter between ppl who were team Andy and those who were team Laurie. Some People thought Andy gaslit Laurie and also did some really dumb shit (hiding a murder weapon as a DA?). Andy wasn’t what I would call a super great lawyer. But I did think it was sad he seemed to have no friends and his whole life was Laurie and Jacob. I could understand why he was so ride or die for his family and I also thought it was super sad at the end when he told Laurie he loved her even if it didn’t mean much to her and she just walked away from him. (Don’t make your spouse your whole entire life, ppl. If it falls apart you’ll have nothing.) I do think his character had a lot of flaws and personally felt he did a lot of self sabotaging but I could also understand why he did it. One thing that did make me really really sad for him was that each time he would get angry or upset with either Jacob or Laurie he would still always want to make up or apologize. I think he just lived/loved for them both so much that he couldn’t bear the idea of losing them or having them be angry or walk away from him. In some ways, he’s kinda similar to Pete Brenner (sad upbringing, basically alone in life no family). For Andy, his self made family is all his has, then his work, and Pete, his work is all he has, then his family.
I haven’t seen all of his characters/films but one recent standout is Pete from pain hustlers. I extremely disagree with critics who claimed his character wasn’t enough or that he was lackluster. WRONG! Pete was FIRE to me and man do I want more of him. I’m still reveling from his performance because for a role that got so downplayed by critics, I was expecting basically nada but got so much more than I bargained for. The little bit about Pete’s background in foster care was very eye opening and the scene where he gives Liza that rookie of the year bracelet??? He got so timid and was like “just wait a bit before you pawn it” and I got so 🥺. He really liked Liza and I think that betrayal he felt from her really cut deep. So sad.
Anyways I digress. I just love your takes and the discourse on your blog!
You’re one of the few blogs I’ve seen where even if your personal views or preferences aren’t always the same as the anons who post to you, you are always respectful and give an open chance for discussion. I really dig that!
I love hearing takes on characters!! This is why I love Chris’ work. He plays his characters so nuanced and layered, so naturally people are going to pick up on different cues.
Now, what you said about Steve, I believe that for CATFA. But I think being out of time hardens him, and that’s why I have that take on Steve. Plus, I’ll be honest I can’t forgive him for leaving Bucky and Sam when they needed him. And he went back to Peggy after she said she lived her life. He showed how selfish he can be.
I think Chris is the reason Ransom was layered. You can tell that Rian wanted him to be very one note. But then Chris had those little pouts, and breath intakes. Ransom was a spoiled child that didn’t get love and attention that he wanted and deserved. There’s a reason that he’s Harlan’s favorite. He’s smart. He can be conniving but imagine that intelligence is for good? He would be so loyal if he found the person worth being loyal to.
I hear everything you’re saying about Andy and I agree. That’s why I get the vibes him and Laurie just weren’t good for each other. They barely knew each other when she got pregnant. So they grew apart instead of together.
Yes about Pete!! I’m so glad you picked up on all that! I found myself wanting and yearning to know more about Pete and his life. How did he end up in that situation? Because I think, like Ransom, Pete wanted love. He respected Liza so much. And the hurt 😭 Chris did so good!! I hate that most of the negative reviews focused on him. Because I think he was the saving grace.
If we can have good conversations about Chris and his career/characters I’m here for it. That’s who I’m a fan of.

Read the intro post
wow what a cool and awesome person...
FUCKING 14 YOU ARE A CHILD MY GOOD SIR??? /LH
1: YOOOOOO YOU THINK IM A COOL AND AWESOME PERSON?? THANKS MAN :DD and 2: LMAOOOOOO YEA I AM!! I've been on here since I was like, 11-ish? not sure. my friend introduced me to tumblr during the beginning of my 7th grade year! (and fun fact: that same friend is both my mutual and the person that gave me my nickname actually!! which turned into my url ^_^)
anyway, I'm going to rant underneath your ask about being a child now im so sorry 😔
It's always been so weird being as young as I am both on tumblr and in the fandom space I'm currently a part of. Like realistically, a 14 y/o boy liking minecraft/mcyt sounds really normal but I don't know anyone my age that is open about being a part of this space. I think growing up on tumblr instead or twitter or tiktok honestly really helped when it comes to being happy in my intrests, since almost every other freshman to ever exist has no idea what this website is and they have no chance of ever finding my posts to make fun of me with them. I still use the other two, but I don't post and I only really open them when a cc like Charlie or Ted posts.
It's hilarious to me that because of my current intrests (jrwi and charlie in general) almost everyone that I'm friends with on here are much older minors or adults, mainly because charlie has a pretty mature and well rounded audience (THANK FUCKING GOD 🙏🙏), but also because everybody else my age that are in this fandom are on tiktok. Using tiktok for me and actually posting is kinda unsafe because of the way the tiktok contact sharing works? if someone from my classes finds it through "recommend accounts" then they can look through my account and harrass me if they recognize who it is. Not to steal a Charlie Slimecicle quote for a second, but I was rewatching an old podcast episode from the very beginning of 2020 and he described it as "elevated highschool" which I 100% agree with. Even 3 years later it's still very much just a higher form of highschool bullshit to have to deal with.
But since I don't post on tiktok I don't really have much to worry about!! My account is blank and it's the same @ as my url so nobody should recognize it and put a face to a name which im grateful for. However, being on tumblr isn't the greatest either;
People on here are all adults and I feel a little bit intimidated? In a sense? I understand that I'm a LOT different than most kids my age and I don't typically have anything to worry about but!! I feel like that's what makes it worse. The other people my age that were or still are on here don't understand tumblr etiquette, don't understand not to act like this is twitter and not have stupid cubito discourse, or just aren't funny? Idk I've just never found anyone my age (with the exception of like 3 of my mutuals you guys are amazing and I love you) that I can really talk to on here, so all of the friends I've made are much much older. I'm smart with who I talk to and how I talk to them so I'm safe don't worry!! My parents raised me right and online safety is such a wonderful thing, but one of my closest mutuals on here is in college right now, and the others are juniors or seniors in highschool. I kept my age out of my bio for so long but honestly that was because I was terrified I would scare away the people that I trusted so much because literally obviously it's going to feel weird for them to be mutuals with a genuine honest to god child. I'm relatively close to turning 15 so I'm getting less and less worried about stuff like that happening but eh that was still a real fear for a while.
Anyway sorry for the rant!! TLDR; highschool sucks, I'm scared of being this young on a platform and fandom full of adults and I have to be extra careful, and also charlie slimecicle is a pretty cool guy to look up to so I feel like him being [vine boom sound effect] my COMFORT STREAMER kinda works out in my favor ngl :D

12 and 21, for the Good Omens asks
Thanks!
12. Has your interaction with the good omens fandom been overall good or bad?
Definitely both. As a franchise it’s definitely a lot of fun to talk about and engage in fun little scenarios and headcanons for. The source material is quirky and funny but also deep and thought-provoking, which is a really good combination when it comes to these things. I think my favourite part was always the “Crowley invented this” meme. Remember how there was that running joke where you’d point to some everyday annoyance or inconvenience and say “Crowley did that”? Loved that. Great fun. Genuinely quite therapeutic.
The bad part was, maybe not surprisingly, The Discourse. And listen, as far as the question of “should series 1 be considered Actual Queer Rep” goes, I think there are good arguments on both sides. It’s a complicated topic and obviously a lot of people are going to be bringing their personal feelings and experiences to the table. But like so many internet arguments, any kind of nuance got very quickly drowned in the sea of people obnoxiously trying to shut down anything contrary to what they thought and insisting that anyone who disagreed with them must be morally bad in some way. Like, the people who acted like it was the end of the world if anyone said anything even mildly critical of the way it handled things caused me a lot more anger and frustration than anything Good Omens itself ever did or didn’t do.
The other downside was, to be honest, I never really liked the level of involvement the author had with the fandom, or the way some fans acted (and still act) about him. I don’t like “word of god” at the best of times, I don’t think author comments should be considered “canon” or that anyone should have to take them into account in their interpretation of the material, and with GO that sort of thing was really difficult to avoid. Like it was just expected that everyone was going to listen to what Neil Gaiman said on twitter or whatever and factor it into their reading, and as a result sometimes you’d see people insisting that “such and such is canon” when hardly anyone who just watched the show and took it at face value would come away with that as an interpretation. Like, you shouldn’t have to do background research to have a full understanding of something! I don’t care what Neil Gaiman said on bloody twitter and I shouldn’t have to!
Anyway, those were my major bugbears, but apart from that it’s been a lot of fun, especially in the early days of series 1. I love reading fics that capture the story’s tone and the characters; they’re very fun and endearing characters to engage with and honestly just to play with like dolls in a sandpit. My best experiences with the fandom have primarily been laughing at posts going “lol Crowley glues pound coins to the pavement and then tries to pick them up the next day”. I’m not as active in the fandom these days but I’d still like more of that.
21. do you prefer crowley's hair from s1 or s2? why?
That’s tricky. The colour in S2 is closer to the sort of colour I’d prefer to have myself, and it wasn’t a bad look by any stretch, but the more flashy and obviously-dyed quality maybe wasn’t quite… fitting? Idk. Maybe the first series, just because I preferred the first series in general.
Good Omens ask game
