#aot chapter 105

For my question, have you ever worried a lot about sticking too close to the "Stations of Canon" and not having enough plot divergences? If so, which parts of canon were the easiest and hardest to diverge from?
Original Ask Post
That's a bit of a loaded question.
Because even though I figured out my ending by the time chapter 105 dropped and most of the story is done, I'm still utilizing the spine of the story and making fixes and changes based on what I wanted to see in AOT. One of the criticisms that I still get is that I'm not deviating enough from the main storyline.
Personally, I think that I've improved on making those changes compared to when I started the story, especially since chapters 2 and 3 were pretty much copy and paste of the actual episodes they were apart of. At the time in 2013, because I didn't have the full context of the story and I didn't know what the basement reveal was, I ended up following the manga after the first season ended because I wasn't going to wait for years when I had a fanfic to write. Once the manga was done, it did make me a little bit more comfortable going off the rails while trying to make it make sense in terms of the AOT world.
I think I had a lot of pretty difficult canon divergence decisions to make because I had to constantly think about how those changes would affect the overall story. For example, killing Bertholdt off and giving the power of the titans over to Porco. I had to think about whether or not I wanted to keep Bertholdt alive, especially since he had died in the show and I was already curbing a few deaths up until that point. But I have Bertholdt get shot with dark energon, and Ymir was taken back to Paradis. Porco had a role in the AOT story (Mainly getting his shit rocked), but it was still a role.
Some of the easier canon divergences were keeping Erwin and Kenny alive for a longer period of time along with just adding stuff to the time skip, like Mikasa going to Hizuru. Because the Hizuru OVA was something that I wanted to explore. It just took some time to research it.
But with AOP being a fix-it fic over all, the AU's that I have, like the Dark Timeline, War Timeline, and Peaceful Timeline, allow me to say screw the canon and go absolutely bonkers in terms of story telling.
I hope that answers your question.

Attack on Titan, where to even go now?
I don't even know how to feel about Attack on Titan ending. After years of cursing its existence, I'm just not sure what the hell to feel or what to do now that it's really done. After years of constant raving over every new opening theme, trailer, and after the thousands of cracks made about how season four just would NOT stop dragging out.........I honestly feel even emptier than ever.
I still remember back when Avatar: The Last Airbender was on.
For me, every episode of that show was a freaking experience. Everything about the world and its characters had me completely captivated, it was a phenomenally fun ride, and waiting for season three to air was a torturous wait. One that was worth it though.
When that show ended, I was truly happy and satisfied with its final episodes. I was on the edge of my seat, and it was so rewarding. I was heartbroken when I realized it was over and I still dearly miss my favorite characters from that show........but it truly ended on a high note, even if the ending was far from perfect.
With Attack on Titan...........the experience has unfortunately been the complete opposite.
It's been nothing but a trying ride, in the worst way possible. Despite my investment, it usually only filled me with dread. After that travesty known as Chapter 105: "Assassin's Bullet", I could not wait for the series to just die, or better yet crash and burn.
For me, the possibility of any satisfying conclusion went out the window five years ago, the only satisfaction I had was seeing how many people were as pissed a the manga ending as I was. I still stand by the fact that it's a hollow, unsatisfying end. In spite of all the anime onlys losing their collective shit because they think the animation and music magically did away with all its problems.
Unlike Avatar, I just feel regret with the ending. I can't watch the show again because of how angry it made me, but I'm even angrier than I hate it so much because I genuinely wanted to love it and for it to be better. The ending sucks, the entire fourth season I think is the worst and most shallow spectacle in anime. And yet it's because of what an empty and joyless experience it was that I'm actually devastated that it's over. Like, yeah I am fed up with the people who hyped this thing to hell and back, but I've invested so much into it and now I don't know where to turn that energy.
I have a far more sincere attachment to AOT's characters than I do to the actual show, like Avatar before Attack on Titan has some of my absolute favorite characters. So I take it VERY personally that they were treated this way and that this is the finish we're left with on the heels of all that.
I don't WANT to hate on Attack on Titan. I'm sorry I couldn't have attached to this the way everyone else did. But I also CANNOT defend the reasons so many people have for staying with it to the finish.
I try to swear off Attack on Titan: The Final Season as noncanon as I don't even like the people who animated that.......But the images that made it such a torment are too deeply burned in.
I wanted this show to go away and I wanted to see the ending fail, yes. Because I hate Hajime Isayama with a burning passion. But I love its characters and the people behind them too much that I desperately wanted better. I don't want to let those go.
Sorry, this post has gone on much longer than I was intending........I just don't know what to feel now.
Somebody help me make sense of this because I am scared of everything falling into irrelevance now.

Do you think the TFP Kids Timeline kind of became canon in the recent chapters? The TFP Kids got the chance to interact with the AOT cast and learn about their world and kind of dunk on Marley. Not as much as that alternate timeline but still.
I mean...the TFP Kids Timeline did stem from all alternative scenes that I've written with Jack, Miko, and Raf.
Like I've state before, I've had an idea about my ending since chapter 105 of the manga dropped, and it was just a matter of filling in the gaps. So a lot of the interactions seen in not just the TFP Kids Timeline, but the other timelines, was based on what I had already written. Actually, I was spoiling some of the stuff in my work through other asks.
I'm just happy I'll finally be able to incorporate what I've written in the past to the actual story.

Three years ago today, a nightmare repeated itself.
Of course, I am talking about the day "Assassin's Bullet" first aired, courtesy of Studio MAPPA. When Attack on Titan's best girl was cruelly ripped away from us.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All this time, and I'm STILL furious about the fate of our beloved Sasha. The very heart and soul of Titan, and who's completely unjustified and needlessly cruel and drawn out end made the entire fucking series, both in the manga and the anime, UNWATCHABLE.
I hoped so hard that season four would never get adapted after season three came to its conclusion, and those hopes were dashed when MAPPA came into the picture.
I would NEVER watch any of MAPPA's shows, all because they went through and adapted this one single, evil episode, from the mind of the very bastard who wrote it into existence.
Like in the manga this horrific scene was drawn out and designed to twist the knife to the absolute maximum. Such an undeserving fate for such a beloved character, not allowed to go out with any kind of real dignity, just given the cheapest fucking death Isayama dared to throw at us, just because we know for sure he was just that eager to rid us of Sasha, and to punish us for daring to connect to her. The blood on her mouth as she was bleeding out, unable to speak and staring blankly as she slipped away.......I NEVER WOULD HAVE TOUCHED THIS ANIME IF IT MEANT SPARING MYSELF THAT ONE IMAGE. And it's that image that defines my whole experience with AOT. And what was it all for? For THIS.
Tumblr media
Gabi MotherFUCKING Braun. A character who nobody liked even before this chapter and episode saw the light of day, a character who is NOT interesting, NOT likable or sympathetic in any sense, a character who is NOT essential to the story, and who actively brought it down not just by stealing Sasha's rightful place, but also by stealing focus away from not just her, but from nearly every other aspect of the story that suddenly had to make room for her incredibly forced and insincere "redemption arc". That's a load of crap, Gabi didn't earn her right to redemption any more than Reiner, Annie, or Eren himself did. The fact that Gabi suddenly because Isayama's primary obsession for 80% of the final season is the most crass and unacceptable display of favoritism on the part of any author. I have never had any reason to connect with Gabi or to take any sympathy upon her, and I will continue to vie for the scene where the little bitch gets her dues. Because she did NOT earn her right to live, let alone exist in this story. And I will continue to demand an explanation for Sasha's missing armor plate. We know what the game is there........I want to hear it from the man himself for pulling such a transparent stunt. Long story short, go fuck yourselves, the staff and animators of Studio MAPPA. You are all dead to me.
And that goes tenfold for Hajime Isayama. I hope one day I'll be the guy to bear upon you all of the anger and stress I have felt because of you since the day you unleashed Chapter 105 and in doing so, stole something very precious from us. You should have left well enough alone.
And with that, something I've been wanting to share for a long time......
Tumblr media
Courtesy of a good friend of mine. You Gabi apologists out there, you will never believe who I have to thank for giving me this fitting tribute ......
Tumblr media
I can only hope one day, our beloved Potato Girl will finally get the justice she deserves, and restored to us as she ought to be.
Tumblr media
There is no Attack on Titan without Sasha. 🥔 ⚔️ 🥔
(I realize this intended post is a little late.......but if you've spent enough time here, you know I'm not one to keep things brief when it comes to our Best Girl.)

My long held theory about Eren and the SNK universe is probably about to be proven right. That theory is time is fluid in this universe and ever since Eren had that Grisha flashback Eren has been living multiple lives simultaneously through the attack titan. This whole chapter and the one following it will probably reveal the "truth" about Eren's world and his place(s) in the timeline. Also come on guys they totally hinted at this in the first episode/chapter.
