#apparently walmart great value brand
Note
I do not feel telling the peanut gallery that you have a hard time noticing poison is a good idea... Fox.
We do have a physical form and an unnecessary amount of freedom, and as has been displayed a general lack of care for your safety
Hey! I would notice! Maybe. Hopefully. I should probably go make a device for that or something tomorrow.
I just realized I've been drinking a caffinated drink for the last 3 hours, and I was planning on going to bed an hour ago... fuck. Guess I can go make that now.

🌸 If you get this, answer with 3 random facts about yourself and send it to the last 7 blogs in your notifications, anonymously or not! Let's get to know the person behind the blog. 🌸
i'm pretty sure it's munday now, so let's make u regret this. we're going on a journey with a sequence of three images.
Tumblr media
FACT ONE. one of my biggest celeb crushes is g.reg d.avies and apparently the 🌽🤖 know it and enjoy mocking me. very cheeky of them.
Tumblr media
FACT TWO. i adore sexy daikon radishes bc im ✨sO qUiRkY✨ but have thus far been unfortunately unblessed with one of my own. i have, however, been the proud witness to trouser carrot. isn't it fun when things look like what they aren't? one time i started giggling uncontrollably because i had these walmart brand ritz in my pantry but something was in front, half obscuring it, so it read "great value butt crack."
Tumblr media
FACT THREE. i've no recollection of it, but apparently, when i was a wee child, i would watch our VHS of the w.izard of o.z over and over obsessively and told my mom i wanted to be in movies too? and she was good enough to take me to a few auditions, but nothing ever came of it. it's kind of funny, because what i remember most vividly is watching ad nauseam the "making of" featurette after the film? i was never super into d.isney, but i would constantly watch the making-ofs for those as well. unsurprisingly, i was a big theatre kid in high school, but i only acted one third as often as i was involved in the technical side. i still want to work in the film industry and dream of being a writer/director, but i'll take what i can get...which isn't easy when i have no money and no connections 😂

Fuck, fuck, fuckity-fuck, fucking shit fuck, balls, cock, pollywog.
Tumblr media
Walmart, in their infinite god damned wisdom, has apparently decided to fucking discontinue their "Sam's Choice" brand of pizza. And because I live in a rural-fucking-area, it took a while to get to me.
Tumblr media
"You could just eat Great Value. Same difference, right?"
Okay. I could also eat cardboard. Same different, right?
(Besides, they are, coincidentally, also out of stock.)
Today sucks and I hate everything.

Downwardly mobile white blue-collar workers and upwardly mobile white small business owners met in the grassroots of the conservative movement. The most substantial failing of The People, No is that it adheres to Frank’s thesis in What’s the Matter with Kansas: that elites manipulated “ordinary people” into the movement with pseudo-populist culture-war rhetoric while enacting their real economic agenda behind the scenes. In fact, when rank-and-file conservatives repudiated the New Deal order, the economic and cultural were so thoroughly intertwined as to be inseparable.
Before they were loyal to national politicians, many workers were loyal to particular firms and employers. The economy that replaced the New Deal order was built by industries that kept alive the capital-P Populist dream of small proprietorship and dignified, autonomous work, even as good jobs in manufacturing and family farming became increasingly scarce. “We say to you that you have made the definition of a business man too limited,” Populist leader William Jennings Bryan thundered in 1896. “The man who is employed for wages is as much a business man as his employer” — that is, if his work was productive and self-directed. For many ordinary people, heirs to the Populist tradition, “business man”–style wage work was an appealing alternative to the welfare state dependency — or union dependency — that the contemporary left was depicted as pushing. For all of Frank’s rhetorical sympathy for white “working people,” he is oddly disinterested in the places where they actually worked.
Displaced small farmers had moved into long-distance trucking since the early New Deal period, but it was in the 1960s and 1970s that independent trucking came into its own as one of the great blue-collar romances. An apparent alternative to the corporate bureaucracy and heavy-handed Teamsters union that dominated the industry, the independent trucker burst onto the scene, innumerable country ballads extolling him as one of the last species of American male who truly worked for himself. (“I’m independent,” Kris Kristofferson’s trucker character proclaimed in Sam Peckinpah’s 1978 film Convoy. “There ain’t many of us left.”) Pressure from rank-and-file independent truckers then complemented the manufacturing and shipping lobbies’ successful attempt to deregulate transportation during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The siren song of right-wing working-class populism was not only heard in trucking. Franchised fast food, another artifact of the New Deal order’s investment in auto infrastructure, offered the promise of rapid advancement from menial work to management or even bona fide small business ownership — one of the excuses for keeping wages for entry-level work at poverty levels. Even as corporate franchisees emerged to buy up licenses for dozens of locations at a time, the franchise structure distanced particular sites from the international brand and preserved a simulacrum of community embeddedness.
Up-and-coming retail firms like Amway also used organizational methods to offer employees a taste of what the management literature sometimes called “simulated entrepreneurship.” Amway’s multilevel marketing structure flushed its liability downstream to its often-indebted sales force, but this organizational approach did, at least on paper, provide the opportunity to “build your own business.” Amway’s intensely evangelical Christian internal culture is infamous today. But it’s not as if — extrapolating from Frank’s story about Republican Party culture-war tactics — Amway used Christianity to get unwitting employees in the door to do its economic bidding. On the contrary, Amway’s history is a reminder of the deep intertwining of American Christian culture with economic values of hard work, personal responsibility, and self-ownership. At the end of his life, William Jennings Bryan himself was most famous not for his Populist advocacy but for his outspoken biblical literalism.
The most important post–New Deal retail firm was Walmart. Here too, as the historian Bethany Moreton has written, economic and cultural populism were inseparable. Walmart’s leaders understood the anxieties about proletarianization that its predominantly rural workforce had inherited from the Populist period. Managers worked diligently to encourage employees to conceive of themselves as “associates” rather than workers. They would not simply sell products but would “serve” customers, in an explicitly Christian fashion. Walmart’s practice of hiring wives to work in sales and husbands to work in distribution sought to reforge the family as an economic unit, as it had been before the late 19th-century wave of industrialization and incorporation. Wages were low, but the result was “always low” prices for the stores’ community-based clientele — including its workforce.
As Walmart expanded, the middle-class consumers of Sun Belt suburbia also came to benefit from its always low prices. For the cowboy capitalists, low prices were a hedge against government dependency. By supporting supply chain deregulation and resisting unionization and minimum-wage hikes, consumers could continue to enjoy the “American standard of living” without having to rely on government handouts or high wages attained through class struggle. Behind middle-class consumerism lay the producerism of the Populists’ favorite scripture verse: “If any will not work, neither shall he eat.” Low prices were prices that the middle class could pay, ostensibly, with the sweat of their brow.
Walmart workers and shoppers were not loyal to Walmart “because of” Walmart’s cultural conservatism and “despite” its economic conservatism. Rather, Walmart formed a nexus where economic and cultural conservatism were inseparable and even indistinguishable. As with Amway and McDonald’s, Walmart’s strategy was masterminded by elite leaders capable of astonishing cynicism. But the cynicism of elite leaders does not entail, as Frank and other contemporary left-populists often imply, that the commitment of “ordinary working people” to institutions like Amway, McDonald’s, and Walmart — or the Republican Party — is shallower than it appears. Rather, conservative populism fed on the powerful compatibility between widely and firmly embraced cultural values and the economic interests of particular capitalists.
Like many white blue-collar workers, middle-class Sun Belters also dreamed the Populist dream of family capitalism. Instead of the independent trucker, their cultural heroes were the new class of billionaires that historian Steve Fraser calls “populist plutocrats.” These men were not anonymous corporate overlords but charismatic leaders of empires that they religiously kept in the family. Some of them, like Charles and David Koch and — yes — Donald Trump, inherited their fortunes. But others, like Sam Walton and Amway’s Richard DeVos, could convincingly mythologize themselves as self-made.
What the populist plutocrats held out was simultaneously cultural and economic. They offered a seductive glimpse of an economic order where even the most successful captains of industry were hardworking, personally invested owner-operators, not parasitic money manipulators. “Family values,” as Melinda Cooper has emphasized, were neoliberal economic values, and vice versa. Post–New Deal capitalism, its boosters argued, would be controlled neither by out-of-touch Washington bureaucrats nor by robotic, gray-flannel-suited managers, but by families embedded in their communities. This same logic functioned on the level of public policy: even icy-veined technocrats like the Chicago “human capital” prophet Gary Becker justified rollbacks to the welfare state on the grounds that families would have no choice but to pick up the slack, through debt if necessary, returning the family to the central place in the economic order it once occupied. These same family values were at the heart of the renewed plausibility and attractiveness of the conservative vision of work and success. When Sam Walton drove his old Ford pickup truck around Bentonville every day, it represented a promise that any Bentonville Ford driver could become Sam Walton. It was a cynical move, to be sure. But Walton’s gesture worked not just because liberal elites offered no alternatives but because it perfectly played on his employees’ deepest anxieties and beliefs.

Things cheaper at Dollartree (after much research)
This is a big list I made for myself and anyone else who wants to know what is legit cheaper at the dollar tree and not just 1 dollar for the sake of there, some things might surprise you what is cheaper and even better at a dollar tree. I try to also pick the healthiest options and compare them to prices in places such as Walmart or a large stock place like BJs. I have also used fooducate.com to see which ones are more healthy, of course with things such as chips and snacks though don’t consider them to be healthy but in those cases I opt for the off-brand ones that taste better than the brand ones. Note: This is USA based.
Food:
Drinks:
Azul Coconut Juice, 16.5 oz. (cheapest and healthiest coconut water out there)
Gatorade Fruit Punch Thirst Quencher, 24 oz.
Stacker 2 B-12 Vitamin Shots is also cheaper.
Rockstar Pure Zero Silver Ice Energy Drinks (energy drinks are bad for you but it’s like 30 cents cheaper here than in walmart)
LaCroix Lime Flavored Sparkling Water 1 litter
(don’t even bother with any or all of the cheap soda it’s the worst, please drink water if anything else, all of the good soda is cheaper somewhere else also)
Snacks:
Cheez-It Original Baked Snack Crackers, 4.5 oz is cheaper at Dollartree.
Nabisco Cheese Nips Baked Snack Crackers, 7 oz is cheaper at Dollartree.
Nabisco Ritz Bits Cheese and Cracker Sandwiches, 3-oz. is SORTA cheaper at dollartree.
Island Choice Dry-Roasted Peanuts, 7.5 oz. (shelled nuts cheaper everywhere else of course in bulk)
Island Choice Honey-Roasted Dry-Roasted Peanuts, 7.5 oz
Pennysticks Mini Pretzels, 12 oz (pretzels the same, these cheaper)
Tropical Chips Plantains, 3-oz (30 cents cheaper)
Barcel Takis Fuego Flavored Churritos Stix, 4 oz (apparently, 9oz is 2,50 so 3 would be 12oz and 3 dollars, it would be kinda cheaper?)
Pringles Grab & Go Barbecue Chips, 2.5 oz (buying in bulk anywhere else is cheaper though, however, this single container costs 1,25 everywhere else)
Brim's Fried Barbecue Pork Rinds, 2.635 oz
Carolina Country Snacks Salt & Vinegar Pork Rinds. 2.75 oz
Sheila G's Chocolate Chip Brownie Brittle, 2 oz
Barcel Takis Crunchy Fajitas Tortilla Chips, 3.2 oz
T.G.I. Friday’s Jalapeno Cheddar Potato Skins Snack Chips, 4.5 oz
Snack Factory Original Pretzel Crisps, 3-oz (50 cents cheaper!)
PopCorners Kettle Flavor Popped Corn Chips, 3 oz. (better in bulk also)
Good Health Veggie Chips with Sea Salt, 2.75-oz (better in bulk also)
Stacy's Parmesan Garlic & Herb Flavored Pita Chips, 3 oz (better in bulk also)
Rudolph's OnYums Onion-Flavored Ring Chips, 3 oz (it’s off brand Funyuns but it’s actually BETTER and cheaper depending on where you buy them because they’re often sold more expensively at gas stations than Funyuns, fun fact)
Island Choice Banana Chips, 6 oz. Bags
Island Choice Sweet and Spicy Trail Mix, 5 oz (healthy!)
Breakfast Blueberry Biscuits, 7.93 oz.
Harvest Hill Quick Oats, 16 oz. Canisters (Top choice too)
Canned and Pickled
Pampa Tropical Mango Slices in Light Syrup, 15 oz. Cans
Bell's Pitted Olives, 6 oz

Crider Premium Chunk White Turkey 5oz
Libby"s Sliced Pineapple, 20 oz (surprisingly!)
Margaret Holmes Seasoned Field Peas and Snaps, 15 oz
Cans of Pampa(R) Peach Slices, 15.25oz

Pampa Extra-Long Asparagus Spears, 12-oz (by the way Pampa is a really good healthy brand which is cheaper so these alternatives are great)
Libby's Premium Mandarin Oranges, 15 oz
Breckenridge Farms Pickled Jalapeno Slices, 12.5 oz (however Old El Paso Jalapeno Slices, Pickled 12.5oz is 1 dollar more expensive in other places and considered more healthy)
Van Camp's Chunk White Albacore Tuna 5oz (keep in mind this is the only canned tuna that is cheaper at dollartree, Albacore is very healthy and usually more expensive than Tuna, but dollartree sells white albacore in water on the same price as light tuna, this is a very good tuna brand as well)
Mc. Trader Tender Green Asparagus Spears, 10.5 oz
Pampa Smoked Oysters in Oil
Healthy Choice Chicken Noodle Soup, 15-oz

Condiments and Spicing
Goya Sazon Seasoning, 8-Packet Boxes
Deli Market Yellow Mustard 20oz (not only is this the best healthiest mustard, but it’s cheaper if you buy it like this than any other mustard in stock size, I wish I had known of this before already stocking up buy buying a 2 pack of 20oz mustard at BJs which is enough to last a year for me)
Louisiana Supreme Hot Sauce 12oz (top choice too)
Kendale Farm Beef Broth, 32 oz (top choice, cheaper than most 32oz broths)
Heinz 57 Sauce, 5 oz. (1,50 cheaper than Walmart)

Deli Market Deli Spicy Brown Mustard (top choice)
Riverton Orchards Lemon Juice, 32-oz (lemon juice the same)
Kraft Bullseye Everyday Original Barbecue Sauce, 17.5-oz (80 cents cheaper than the same product in Target)
A.1. Thick & Hearty Steak Sauce, 5 oz. (SURPRISINGLY, not even in bulk is it as cheap as this? Weird, 5oz is 1 dollar right? 30oz for A1 is usually 8 dollars in stock supermarkets, but 5 times 8 would be 40oz! This is... Interesting. Especially considering it’s a well known brand as well, I wonder who is their dealer or are they just selling it cheap out of donation?)
Healthy Chef Canola Non-Stick Cooking Spray (this one’s pretty wild too, it only is sold at dollartree and is considered the healthiest cooking spray in the entirety of America according to fooducate)
Candy
Gonna go on a safe bet here and say that everything can be found for less and in greater quantity anywhere else. Hairbo Twin Snake is the same price at Walmart though. Most candies are sold 40% cheaper at bulk supermarkets though.
Office & School Supplies
You can probably find all of these at an Ebay auction, but it’s more accessible here.
Crayola Washable Glue Sticks, 2-ct. Packs (1.50 cheaper than walmart)
Duck Tape is cheap as hell
All-Purpose Krazy Glue, .052-oz. Tubes
Other stuff:
Laundry stuff, I’d recommend Ajax 40oz or Fab. Those are AMAZING brands and known as top quality in Australia. And it is insane how cheap this is, they must import it??
Scott Toilet Paper: Oh my god HOW IS 4 TOILET PAPERS THIS CHEAP HERE AT THE DOLLAR TREE???? TP is literally more expensive everywhere else.
Kitchen appliances, a glass salt shaker is like 5 dollars at Walmart but it’s 1 dollar at dollartree. All of the Betty Crocker kitchen appliances like spatulas are only a dollar too and so good. (They are 3 DOLLARS cheaper at dollar tree). IT IS INSANE HOW CHEAP this shit is here, like the can opener they sell for 1 dollar is 6 or 5 dollars everywhere else.
Fisher-Price Smart Care Aloe Vera and Chamomile Baby Wipes, 80-ct. Packs
All Arm & Hammer stuff including the Arm & Hammer Ultra Max 3-in-1 Fresh Scented Body Wash, Shampoo, and Conditioner, 12 oz are good choices. Deodorant too is good. All Arm and hammer stuff here is cheaper than on Walmart and a great brand.
Hand soap might be found for 97 cents at Walmart but it’s a small difference.
Not Cheaper, Best bought at a bulk store:
Peanut Butter Filled Pretzels
snack bars.
V8 Vegetable Juice
Potato Stix
Cereal
Canned Soup
Canned Tuna
Badia Original Complete Seasoning (this took a while to calculate but yes it’s cheaper to buy in bulk, dollartree has 2,5oz for 1 dollar, usually a 2 pack of 12oz each is 13 dollars. if you do like 2.5 times 2.5oz, it’s like 32oz which is more than 24oz for 13 dollars, but you can find 1.75 lbs. of this for 8 dollars)
Iodized Salt (get it at Great value honestly)
Dill Pickles in general, but Vlasic Kosher Dill Pickles is the healthiest choice
Cambell canned soups
Goya canned beans
Sunny Sea Sardines in Tomato Sauce, 7.5-oz
Here’s hoping me publishing this doesn’t crash the market or anything but seriously, you can live healthily and frugally like this. I literally survive like this easily, I just spend like 60 dollars a month max with supplies.

So we had to go shopping since we’re out of stuff for full meals. Mom placed an order for pickup at Walmart several days ago. This order was cancelled several times because they kept running out of stuff because of hoarders. Finally, an order made it through and stayed the whole 2 days until pickup.
She got all the Walmart brand stuff(Great Value) because it’s cheap, but Wally World has this substitution thing apparently. Mom got GV brand shit but it ended up going out of stock  because other poor people were getting it too, so WW substituted the items with more expensive, name brand items.
But! The original price listed for the GV brand stays the same. So mom got my sister pizza rolls(it’s her b-day today), GV $2 but they substituted it with a bag of Totino’s which was much bigger and worth $5+, yet she still only had to pay the $2. And this was repeated with several other things. We got GV fresh mozzarella but they were out so they substituted it with a far more expensive brand, but we still only had to pay the GV price.
I like this way of handling it.

Stucky prompt, if you’re still taking prompts. Just them wandering around in the cold weather and getting hot chocolate at the end?
oh yes domestic holiday fluff this is what im here for fuck me up
It was, in all honesty, too fucking cold to be outside. Steve knew this, because Bucky had muttered it under his breath approximately seventy three times in the six minutes they’d been outside.
But it was Bucky’s idea to go to the flea market in Central Park. His time on the run gave him a great appreciation for all of the outdoor markets -- farmers, flea, art shows.
So when Steve had said he wanted to carve a goddamn pumpkin nearly a month after Halloween and The Appropriate Time To Carve A Gourd, Bucky had jumped at the chance to scope out the newly erected pop-up market. And it was only a short walk from the tower, too. It would be great.
And then they’d actually stepped outside and Bucky promptly regretted every decision he’d ever made that could have possibly led him to this point in his life. Starting first and foremost with befriending this punk ass golden retriever who refused to by clothes in his actual size.
Christ, you could basically count his abs through his coat. All 32 of them.
Maybe golden retriever was a little off -- Steve was more like a bloodhound who refused to give up the scent of the pumpkin he was going to desecrate. They should have just gone to Whole Foods.
“It’s fucking freezing.”
“Maybe if you’d stop whining about it, you could actually conserve some warmth,” Steve shot back with exactly 0 malice, throwing an arm over Bucky’s shoulder and tugging him in.
Steve was warm. Steve was a goddamn furnace.
“What the actual fuck, Steven,” Bucky hissed, even as he huddled more into the blessed warmth, “are you running a fever?”
“I just run hot,” Steve shrugged, “Have since the serum.”
Goddamn if that didn’t make Bucky even angrier about the goddamn Great Value Walmart Brand serum he’d been shot up with. He didn’t get extra warm. He got nightmares.
Okay, that thought was unfair. They both got nightmares.
Steve still got the warmth though.
“I am sleeping with you until Spring,” Bucky decided and stated without any input at all from the filter that was supposed to hang out between his brain and his big fucking mouth.
Shit.
He chanced a look up.
Oh, yeah. Blush central.
“I meant. Like. Using you as a hot water bottle.” With abs. So many abs.
Steve cleared his throat, but he didn’t push Bucky away and that was a win, “Yeah, Buck. The bed’s more than big enough.”
They meandered through the market and Bucky was sufficiently distracted by the amount of produce they managed to grow in New York City in fucking November.
Greenhouses, apparently, were the secret.
Honestly, Bucky didn’t care if the secret was goddamn baby tears, he bought two pounds of fresh goddamn plums the week before Thanksgiving and he was over the fucking moon about it.
Thanos himself couldn’t ruin his day.
Plums.
Steve had wandered away at some point while he had been carefully selecting every single plum the poor woman had to offer.
Like a bloodhound, it would appear the Bucky needed to put the man on a leash.
Earth’s mightiest fucking defender. More like Earth’s mightiest dickhead who got distracted by anything shiny.
There was a whole section of the market devoted to artists -- selling pre-made pieces, doing sketches right then and there, and, where Bucky eventually found Steve, some who were selling art supplies.
Even without his human furnace, Bucky felt warm.
Steve hadn’t drawn in a good long while. Since he came out of the ice, really. And he got super fucking squirrely when asked about it.
So Bucky, not being an idiot, turned on his heel and marched back towards the produce to find his big, dumb idiot a big, dumb, motherfucking pumpkin.
And the irony of the whole situation was that Bucky practically froze his goddamn balls off for Steve to carve a stupid pumpkin and no one in the market was selling pumpkins.
Bucky found plums (which, thank you giant turtle in the sky) but the produce that was actually in season? No dice.
They were going to end up at Whole Foods anyways.
Fuckin bullshit.
He did, however, find a stand selling hot chocolate. And not that shitty powdered bullshit that Clint tried to force down his throat. Like, real hot chocolate. Made in a fucking pot on the stove, with heavy cream and milk and a lot of stirring.
Bucky bought two of the largest size they offered and got the old man’s card. There really was a god.
By the time he found Steve again, the other had a small, clear plastic bag and a soft, shy smile on his face that only widened when Bucky held out the styrofoam cup of liquid happiness.
“Real hot chocolate, Stevie.” Was all he said. He wasn’t going to question the bag. He was just going to let Steve do his thing.
Steve would share when he was ready.
“Also,” Bucky added, staring up at the sky with a tiny, content smile as the first snowflake caught in his eyelashes, “I have been to every corner of this market, and there are exactly 0 pumpkins.”
“Well, shit,” Steve said back, though he really didn’t sound all that torn up about it, settling back into his preferred position with his arm around Bucky, all up in his space like he owned it.
He kinda did.

Skinny Teas?
I don’t think skinny teas work, or at least not in the way people might think they do. Personally, my theory is that people are looking for a “get thin quick” approach which leads them to search for an easy solution.  In this way, the design and marketing of skinny teas in genius.
The formulas of a lot of these teas contain senna leaf, which is a diuretic. Drinking it daily will add water into your system to keep water weight down while the diuretic effect keeps the weight you’d see from bowel movements down. This all leads to a less bloated appearance and apparent “weight loss”. But honestly why spend all that money on some hyped-up leaves. If you really want to try a “skinny tea” you can always just make your own. If more expensive loose leaf tea is out of your budget you can find cheaper store brand teas that have the ingredients you’d usually find. You can then empty out the tea packets and put them in a separate container to make a personal blend. Then either using the tea bags you can fill yourself or a mesh infuser, you can then make your “detox” tea. I did a breakdown of pricing per oz below the cut if you’re interested
Something unusual that I also found, is unlike other normal tea brands, it is much more difficult to find the product weight. It isn’t mentioned in the descriptions or in the name. It only states how many days it’s for. Bootea and SkinnyMe, for instance, was basically impossible to find. I looked at pictures posted by other people of the packaging and cannot find the product weight.
For the homemade tea blend, who’s “ingredients” I’ve included, the calculated price came to be $3.27 per oz.
Flat Tummy Tea 4 week cleanse came to $24.37 per oz as they only include 2.01oz of product.
Skinny Teatox 28 Day cleanse came to be $21.67per oz normally, but with the current sale, it brings it down to $10 per oz with the total product given being 2.40oz. Better but not great
Teami “skinny” blend comes with 2.30oz and their price per oz comes to be $13.03. If you buy one of their detox sets like the “30:7 Best Detox 40 Day Cleanse” It will take the price down to $11.39per oz.
I think I’ve given enough evidence to persuade you that if you really want to do a detox, find ingredients that YOU want in your tea and you can make a much cheaper blend.
Here is my Homemade Detox Tea Recipe using the cheapest I could find with included oz and prices. The tea haven tea is online and you have to pay to ship it, bringing the price up, but if you’re ok with a blend. The Walmart Great Value brand “throat soother tea” has marshmallow root and licorice root, another common detox ingredient, and it is cheaper than the pure marshmallow root tea.

Your companion, your motivator, your organizer, Amazon Alexa.
Tumblr media
“Alexa, call me beautiful!” “You are beautiful, Kerri.” “Alexa, what’s the temperature today?” “It is 70 degrees Fahrenheit in Ithaca, New York.” These are just a few of the features that my good friend Alexa is capable of doing on a day-to-day basis. Amazon Alexa is one of the best smart speakers that can do almost anything you request by saying one simple word, “Alexa.”
Since the launch of Amazon Alexa in 2014, sales and popularity continue to skyrocket due to the many features available to get you through life. A variety of Amazon Alexa speakers are available in different sizes that can fit any person’s style. It’s sleek, stylish and great for any event. Right now, the most recent Amazon Echo is sold out on Amazon until March, but there are still stores that might have them readily available for purchase at Best Buy and Walmart as well as different Alexa’s.
So, what is a smart speaker? According to Porter and Heppleman, a “smart product” is when, “Smart components amplify the capabilities and value of the physical components, while connectivity amplifies the capabilities and value of the smart components and enables some of them to exist outside the physical product itself.” These smart components are broken up into 3 different components:
Physical Component: Amazon Alexa conveys a unique and futuristic appearance that is different from other speakers. The smaller speakers are round and small enough to potentially fit into a pocket while the larger speakers resemble cylinder. Both are aesthetically pleasing to look at with the sleek appearance. Alexa looks like many different speakers within the competitive industry but she comes in different generic colors such as black, white, and gray (some models). Whether it’s a lake house, a beach house, an apartment, or any other type, she will look great no matter what.
Smart Component: Want to play country music? Alexa has your back. Maybe you want to change it up a little during your studying and play some Beethoven. She can do that too. She is capable of retaining information each time you say “Alexa” and the more you talk to her, the smarter she becomes. Amazon Alexa is a trusted friend that will remind you to prepare for your big meeting tomorrow morning and to remember the material you need for it. If you want to get real fancy, you can connect the smart speaker to pretty much anything with compatible products. There are thermostats, plug-in cords, and more that will allow her to turn the heat up or down based on what you tell her to do. She can turn off the fan if you’re getting too hot, and can even remind you if your door is locked before bedtime.
Tumblr media
Connectivity Component: It’s as simple as 1,2,3 but first, it’s important to remember that Alexa cannot be connected unless there is Internet in your home or the area you’re located in. All you need to do is follow the simple directions given on the app (I promise, they’re very straightforward) and open your Bluetooth on your smart phone. Once you find the correct Bluetooth option to connect to, there will be a round yellow light flashing which remains throughout the process and will turn blue once you connect to her. Once you’re connected, you can ask Alexa anything and when you say her name, the blue circle will appear to indicate that she is listening.
Though there are many competitors of Amazon Alexa such as Google Home and Bose, Sonos has recently partnered with Amazon since their speakers don’t have talk abilities. For example, if you have the Amazon Echo, which is the smallest speaker one can purchase from Amazon Alexa, it is possible to connect your small speaker to a larger Sonos one. This makes it easier to play louder music if need be while having the luxury of Alexa all in one. Amazon Alexa’s competitors are well known brands, but the smart speaker component is what attracts buyers the most. Nowadays, people are running around all the time and need that extra hand to remind them of their daily tasks, so Alexa is important for remaining organized and keeping a person more relaxed throughout the day.

I recently purchased the Echo Dot and can agree that there are many positive aspects of it considering I am lazy in the mornings. She sets my alarm clock, plays meditation music for me, will Google something during my crammed work sessions, and more. I travel often and it’s definitely a benefit that she is small and compact so that I can bring her for travel wherever I go. I’ve backpacked before and only been able to bring a backpack but thankfully, she was able to fit in it. This isn’t easy for the larger ones but even they are small enough to fit in a backpack or carry on. There are some issues with Amazon Echo that I have noticed since purchasing. It’s apparent that the speakers’ volume does not rise high enough for my liking. They are just as loud as on iPhone speaker, which defeats the purposes of even buying one. Granted, the Amazon Echo is only around 20-30 dollars so you get what you pay for. As stated previously though, there are many other speakers that are the same size but with less abilities but will play music louder. The only sacrifice one would need to make is to not have a talking guide. All in all, Amazon Alexa has made my life significantly easier since purchasing and I think she is definitely worth it based on the price and the features.

'It's in My DNA': A Roundtable Q&A
Impressions gets candid with a couple of females leaders in the decorated-apparel sector.<br> The world has seen a social change in the past couple of years, with ladies in all sectors being embraced in duties varying from managers and also supervisors to C-suite execs-- and every leadership sounded on the proverbial ladder in between.<br> As 2020 unravels, female business-leadership duties have actually hit an all-time high. According to 2019 Grant Thornton LLP research, 29% of senior-management duties are held by women, while 87% of global organizations now contend the very least one woman in a senior-management position. Consisting Of MOTORCYCLE PATCHES BUSINESS.<br> Today, ladies are promoted as part of varied workforces that include a cornucopia of identities, personalities and ethnic cultures. Similarly as diverse are the histories as well as experience degrees these ladies leaders bring to their particular tables, and the decorated-apparel sector is no exception.<br> For example, prior to becoming head of state of Madeira USA, Shirley Clark was the business's sales supervisor as well as had experience from various other markets. Jeanene Edwards, vice president of advertising, Fruit of the Loom/JERZEES, remained in journalism prior to operating in advertising and marketing with a national seller. Michelle Moxley, director of development, The M&R Cos., has a history in visuals arts. After working as a development musician for Nike and also the Jordan brand name, she was Gildan's Honduras R&D embellishment supervisor.<br> Carleen Gray, CEO, GroupeSTAHL North America, has been with the company for 22 years. Wedged in between was a job in the automobile industry, where she states lessons learned in the decorated-apparel sector helped significantly.<br> "There was a six-year period [beyond Stahls'] when I worked within the automobile market, and I never dreamed my decorated-apparel experience would help me there, but it was essential in managing the Jeep, Dodge as well as Chrysler retailing programs," she states. "My whole job has been deeply lodged in structure brands as well as assisting people expand their services with decorated clothing.<br> Impressions just recently sat down with Clark, Edwards, Gray as well as Moxley to discuss their experiences in the market, responsibilities to future generations of women leaders and also much more.<br> Perceptions: This sector historically has actually been viewed as well as defined as male dominated. Do you assume such a characterization is fair or real? Why or why not?<br> Shirley Clark: Maybe it's since I grew up with 5 siblings, however I've never truly felt that assumption. My procedure has constantly merely been to finish the job. In the case of my own occupation, this has typically been to protect growth in sales, to increase the reach of a firm [as well as] to have a favorable impact on whatever market I remain in.<br> Jeanene Edwards: I assume you could say that any kind of industry historically has been male dominated. The decorated-apparel market is much more well balanced due to the extremely individual nature of selling clothing. From individual monitoring at exhibition and representative open-house occasions, I talk to as numerous ladies as I do guys. And also regularly, it's the women who are asking thorough inquiries regarding our product line, our printability and our rates. It's apparent that they're the business proprietor or manager and also have a substantial role in its success.<br> Carleen Gray: That characterization is absolutely changing-- a lot so that I do not also like to reply to this kind of concern. At Stahls', becoming the CEO had not been so much of a gender development-- Stahls' has actually had ladies in leadership placements from the first day. It was more about the truth that someone was promoted to this position from within the ranks, and that is what made it considerable for every person at the firm. For me, success isn't about appearing a glass ceiling or changing stereotypes; it's concerning just how well somebody does a job.<br> Michelle Moxley: I think it's coming to be more varied each year. There are more females in dominantly male placements than ever. There is still a strong masculine aspect, yet it is definitely extra well balanced than, state, even 5 years back.<br> Perceptions: Is it sufficient for a female to do her job and work hard in order to succeed in this market?<br> Edwards: I've always been fortunate to work for organizations where your job performance, not your gender, identified your success. At Fruit of the Loom, our CEO is Melissa Burgess Taylor, so we've absolutely broken the glass ceiling right here. My recommendation to males and females is that if you intend to do well as well as prosper, you need to show campaign as well as exceed and past your existing work obligations.<br> Moxley: Is it [sufficient] for anyone? Sometimes I believe I work harder than the following guy, or I have to since I am female, however various other times I assume it's since it's in my DNA to function actually hard. It's what I do, and also if my sex was various, I would certainly still do it. If your gender is interfering with you being successful, it says much more regarding the people you are helping than anything else. Discover a new path, forget the people that aren't your cheerleaders.<br> Impacts: What challenges or barriers have you faced as a female in this industry, as well as exactly how did you overcome them?<br> Gray: The capability to face challenges head on is much easier with the appropriate team. So much of my confidence originates from knowing the group's staminas. Company obstacles we've encountered consist of implementing new technology, financial management, policy and also compliance, recruiting top skill, locating the right approaches for growth and more. In the future I've found that sticking true to an easy tenet, such as "Get [Things] Done," is what actually works.<br> Moxley: I remember my very first exhibition, 2003 possibly, someone commented, "You don't resemble a screen printer." It had not been till much later on I realized the comment was in reference to me being a female. I am not a figure or an underdog. Sometimes in this sector, I have actually been labeled "the lady." You manage it and also push via it. Be tough, hold true and also understand you can be as good as the next "person"-- much better, also.<br> Impacts: Who has had the biggest influence on your job?<br> Clark: Probably my predecessors, in every setting I've held. In each situation, they have actually established the bar, providing me an objective to go beyond and setting the stage for development and also development. It has after that depended on me to step up, develop a road map and also move a business into higher market share and sales.<br> Edwards: My first job was benefiting Pace Membership Warehouse, a start-up subscription storehouse club that was eventually marketed to Sam's Club. Celia Swanson was the only women vice president and she was a fantastic instance of how women can lead and be valued in a male-dominated organization. She took place to end up being the first female executive vice head of state of Walmart.<br> Gray: Ted Stahl has been a directing force, ideas as well as advisor from the beginning.<br> Moxley: My concept has constantly been that there's no college for this. So I've always tried to find individuals that I appreciate most and also weasel my way into collaborating with them. Benefiting Larie Thomas truly subjected me to the best structure for the job selections I made. Working with Jamie McCrae educated me how to make solid industry relationships. Dealing With Beppe Quaglia has actually been a continuous ideas. Ultimately, benefiting Dave Gardner was a true emphasize of my profession.<br> Impacts: What duty do you think you need to future generations of "glass ceiling-breaking" women, if any?<br> Clark: I try to enable ladies and men to accomplish their roles with support and also the devices they require to prosper. I maintain an open-door policy, listening to concepts as well as suggestions. My obligation to women specifically would be to mention that-- if they have the capability as well as commitment-- there is no reason that must stop them from being successful and also making the respect of their peers.<br> Edwards: The best recommendations I have is to take responsibility for your own growth as well as look for opportunities to show what you can do. If you feel you've hit a glass ceiling in your organization, you can make them mindful that it's there. Finally, if you're not being offered the chances or even the credit score you feel you should have, after that it could be time to seek them in other places. In today's hot job market, skilled individuals have great deals of opportunities.<br> Gray: The largest responsibility features the understanding that you are making decisions that affect everyone in the firm. Both males and females. I have an obligation to concentrate on making the right company decisions for our customers, our firm and our employee for the long haul.<br> Moxley: Do what you enjoy, like what you do. My responsibility to ladies in my market is to continue being me as well as do my very best. I try to pay it ahead as long as I can, yet I anticipate credibility as well as real investment from those I collaborate with. "Believe in something and also be that thing" is my adage.<br> Impacts: What recommendations would you give to other women seeking to do well in this sector?<br> Clark: This is an incredibly innovative industry, and also one that is pretty nurturing contrasted to others. Imagination, excellent service and product high quality are going to give one a significant edge, despite sex.<br> Edwards: Printed garments and also promotional items are terrific job courses for ladies, as the industry relies upon connections and solution, which are areas where women often tend to stand out. Do impressive job and it will represent itself. If you provide unique items with a stress-free experience, your customers will certainly tell others, particularly in our social media-driven globe.<br> Gray: Don't hesitate to speak up. Claim what you actually rely on. Wonder and show inspiration. Be the individual that figures it out.<br> Moxley: Learn from those that came prior to you; constantly agree to find out something new; neglect the naysayers; and also be an initial.

Margarita Machine
Tumblr media
We've all been on an extended get-away some place, maybe a spot like the Caribbean, and drank invigorating solidified margaritas. I was simply on an excursion in Cancun and returned searching for the ideal home margarita creator so I could reproduce those solidified beverages in my own home. Heaps of my companions revealed to me that the margarita machines I was discussing must be leased and were basically for parties just - not something you purchased and possessed. I did my exploration on the web and found a few sites that convey margarita producers and customary stores like Sur La Table, Walmart and Target additionally have them in stock.
The most perceived name was the Margaritaville solidified invention creator which has the DM0500, DM1000, and DM2000 which are top merchants on sites. They start at $200 and the more extravagent models are nearer to $500. In the event that you are a major margarita consumer or like to have margarita parties in your neighborhood, at that point getting one of these solidified beverage creators is presumably a smart thought.
margarita producer
Purchasing Guide - We discovered heaps of good surveys for margarita machines online on locales. There are truly just a couple of brands that you have to try and consider. The Margaritaville machines are a Sunbeam item which is controlled by Jarden Corporation. Sentimentality makes the Margarator MSB 585 however audits posted and other driving purchaser sites don't rate this model well overall. El Paso makes their less expensive line of margarita machines as well, yet simply like the Nostalgia line, the El Paso items get junky audits among customers.
You need a ground-breaking blender that will smash and slash ice and mix your solidified beverage appropriately. In a portion of the more affordable models apparently the engines simply don't present enough power and proprietors are left with stout margaritas. The Margaritaville DM1000 Frozen Concoction Maker is the top merchant and surveys for this model are almost great. The DM2000 is somewhat more costly and furthermore gets high recognition from specialists and buyers the same.
The Margaritaville DM0500 Bahamas 36-Ounce Frozen-Concoction Maker at just shy of $200 is certainly a decent "esteem purchase" and we discovered a lot of criticism online for this model which was exceptionally sure. At last you need a margarita creator that will be strong, pulverize ice appropriately and effectively, and make an average amount in one mixing to serve many individuals. Most hold somewhere in the range of 30 and 36 ounces so you will have the option to serve 3 to 4 visitors each time you make another bunch of margaritas. We discovered valuing to be everywhere on these - Sur La Table will in general be more costly than different stores so we state evade them except if you totally need to. Target and Walmart don't generally convey the Margaritaville product offering. I requested the DM1000 and it showed up in 2 days. You can peruse the most famous margarita creators online here.
Best Margarita Machine:
Who doesn't care for tasting a margarita on a warm summer day. For those people that live in sweltering climate atmospheres like Dallas, Las Vegas, or Palm Springs, solidified beverages are practically compulsory when the temperatures arrive at 100 degrees or more. Purchasing a margarita producer is a wise venture in the event that you purchase a quality machine. Suggested - The Margaritaville items are the smash hit and most well known with regards to purchaser audits we discovered posted on the web.
The Margaritaville DM0500 Bahamas 36-Ounce Frozen-Concoction Maker is a 450 watt margarita blender creating up to 36 ounces without a moment's delay. The machine highlights double engines for mixing drinks and shaving ice. Ideal for those curious lawn parties with companions, neighbors or family on a hot day. The DM0500 makes 1 full pitcher of margaritas per mixing and the cycle is truly straightforward. Top off the ice container, include the fixings, and afterward mix away. There are programmed settings on the off chance that you need to pass by their bearings or you can take control with the manual settings and change the consistency however you would prefer.
The solid glass mixing container and tempered steel trim make this an extraordinary looking blender. This margarita machine overwhelms the Margarator from Nostalgia in straight on tests and a few proprietors consider this one the best margarita producer. On the off chance that you need solidified beverages like those you find in cafés and beachside cabanas consider the Margaritaville margarita producers.
Solidified Drink Maker - DM1000:
Suggested - I went with the Margaritaville DM1000 Frozen Concoction Maker just in light of the fact that I had perused that it is somewhat more solid than the DM0500 which is about $100 less expensive. I considered the DM2000 for it's business 700 watt engine yet felt that was redundant for what I had at the top of the priority list. The DM1000 mixes up to 32 ounces and naturally blends the right extent of fixings and ice so you get a crisp tasting margarita without fail.
All the controls are direct for simple working and the dribble free spout downplay the wreck. These machines are quite weighty, more so than your normal blender, so consider purchasing the conveying case on the off chance that you plan on removing it from your home. We found that the smoothies we make for the children are incredible and a gigantic neighborhood hit and the grown-up mixed drinks keep all the guardians upbeat. The pre-customized settings let you resemble an expert barkeep. I concur with different commentators who noticed that the best outcomes are the point at which you make a full pitcher of margaritas versus simply attempting to make 1 or 2 from the machine.

There are a lot of people out there who subscribe to the Libertarian ideology of “an economy without regulation is a prosperous one”. And while I can understand their reasoning, the fact is, it’s just not based in reality. And I’m going to explain why, because, quite frankly, the best way to argue against an economic ideology is to explain logically.
Part one: why regulations are important.
Before regulations were put in place in the United States, there was an economic era known as the Gilded Age. During this Gilded Age, American corporations were flourishing, with manufacturing being in its prime. The assembly line had just recently begun to be a thing, and many American workers had begun to move from rural areas to the city searching for work. However, this was not necessarily a good thing.
Back then, factories, mining jobs, and other low-level work were generally not good to their workers. They suffered from a list of very, very unpleasant problems.
- Lack of minimum wage. Because the workers weren’t required to be paid a minimum amount, they were often paid extremely little, to the point where there were entire towns of workers who could barely afford to eat. And that’s on top of...
- Child labor. Because children were allowed to work in factories, and because there was no public school system in place yet, children would have jobs just the same as their parents, often at the same factory. This is often what allowed the parents to feed their children- the fact that their children were themselves earning their own food.
- Lack of an actual paycheck. Instead of paying their workers in, you know, money, many companies would instead pay their workers in something known as scrip- it was a false currency that could only be used at the company store. If the company went belly-under, or just left town (as coal mining companies often did), the workers were left with absolutely nothing.
- Lack of safety. Factories would often force their workers to work at a breakneck pace, without any actual safety measures in place. A worker in a clothes factory would often find themselves with breathing problems, because they had fabric particles build up inside of their lungs. And there was no air circulation either, not even open windows. If a worker got caught in the machinery, they would get chewed up inside of it unless a fellow worker turned it off- and doing so, even to save a life, could get them in serious trouble.
These are, in fact, actual problems that actually happened.
Then, the workers decided to strike back- specifically, by striking. They refused to do their jobs until their demands were met. In response, the factories hired strikebreakers, mercenaries whose job was to beat rebellious workers into submission so they’d stop striking and get back to work. You may even have heard of one group of strikebreakers- the Pinkertons.
Striking ultimately did not work until The Great Strike of 1877, in which workers from every single industry struck together, refusing to work until their demands were met. The entire US economy shut down- first the railroads, then the factories, and so on. This ultimately got the attention of those in charge, who decided to actually meet the demands of unions, aka groups of workers banding together to demand better rights. They then also forced unions into bureaucracy, slowing down any further progress they may make quite a bit. It didn’t work completely, but then, they also began to demonize unions, to the point where many people in the modern world believe unions are bad, even though unions got you:
- Minimum wage
- The eight-hour workday
- The weekend
- The end of child labor
- Employer-based health coverage
- Family and medical leave
While obviously not everyone has these things, things like minimum wage and child labor laws still exist.
But yay855, you might say, why did those things exist? Why couldn’t the people just use the Free Market to end them?
Well, I’ll tell you why: monopolies.
See, this all happened prior to one of the biggest regulations enacted: the ban on monopolies. Monopolies are when a single corporation owns an entire industry, meaning that they are no longer subject to competition. This allows them to enact all kinds of immoral practices without being challenged, to raise their prices as high as they like without anyone getting in their way. And if someone does attempt to stop them by creating competition, the big industry-spanning corporation can afford to lower their prices far below their new competition, waiting them out until the competition goes bankrupt before raising their prices back up. This is actually a tactic we see very often in modern business, such as with Uber- they have big backers, but ultimately charge less than the actual cost of business in order to put their competition out of business. This is also often used by big-name stores like Walmart and Starbucks, who will move into a new town, have large sales that the local competition can’t compete with, and then drive their prices back up once the local businesses close down.
But yay855, you might say, wouldn’t people just choose the more expensive option if it means supporting ethical business practices?
The short answer? No.
The long answer: Apple is known as one of the leading technology corporations, responsible for making Apple-brand electronics. Their biggest products are smartphones and computers. It is also effectively common knowledge that Apple products are manufactured using Chinese slave labor, as it is apparently cheaper to pay Chinese slave factories to make the product and ship it over to the US than to pay US factory workers. And yet, Apple is still one of the leading computer and smartphone brands. Their customers actually see Apple products as a point of pride, using them to fuel their own elitism. All this is despite the fact that Apple products are very expensive, despite the fact that Apple blatantly refuses to use industry standards like MicroUSB and Audio Jacks, instead replacing them with their own custom input adapters, the newest being the Lightning Port. While the Lightning Port being a multi-use port compatible with both audio output and data transfer is a promising development that should become the new standard, the iPhone X only has a single Lightning Port, forcing users to purchase an expensive and unwieldy accessory just so they can listen to music and charge their phone at the same time. And let’s not forget that the phone itself costs over a thousand dollars! And yet, it is consistently rated at or above four stars, despite all its fallbacks. Despite Apple using immoral practices to construct it.
Let’s also not forget that big oil spill caused by BP Oil in 2010, where a big-name oil company spilled a lot of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, and did basically nothing to clean it up. And yet, they’re still a big-name oil company.
Most consumers do not care how moral their purchase was, they only care about what’s cheapest. That is because consumers themselves are concerned most with their immediate issues- things like “how much money can I afford to spend”. And because they are most concerned with how much money they are spending, they will gladly support a corrupt business if it means spending the least amount of money. While many middle-class and upper-class people will choose a more moral option, they can afford to do so- the majority of Americans (50.1% as of 2015) are of the working class, and their actual earnings shrink more and more every year as inflation goes up and wages remain largely stagnant. They are therefor forced to scrimp and scrounge every penny they can, and will ultimately always choose the cheapest option, not because they can afford to, but because they have to. And thus, immoral business practices will ultimately always succeed in a nation without regulation.
Part two: other reasons why businesses do immoral practices
Although pure profit is ultimately the biggest cause of why businesses act immorally, there are other reasons that cause them to act that way. The most important one is the stock market.
Here in the US, and in most places, a corporation is a publicly-traded entity, with shares of the company, known as stocks, being purchased and sold by stock brokers. The value of a stock is ultimately representative of the value of a corporation- the more profit a corporation brings in, the more its stocks are worth, and the more people will purchase and sell them.
Why is this a problem, you ask? Well, it’s a problem because it forces corporations to perform an ever-more-frantic dance of profit. Not long-term profit, mind you, but immediate profit. The faster an investor can sell their stock for a premium, the better.
A corporation can only improve profits so much. Once they hit that limit, where there is reasonably nowhere else to improve upon without sacrificing morality, they will sacrifice morality. The shareholders do, after all, typically control the majority of a company’s shares. Thus, once they hit that level, they dive down. Suddenly, corners are cut everywhere- this typically starts at the lowest levels first, but ultimately stops right around upper management. The CEO typically also benefits from this, as the increased profits thanks to reduced expenses go right into his bonus.
Final words:
Corporations are ultimately driven towards ever-increasing profits thanks to greed. The consumers ultimately do not notice the immorality of businesses, and if they do, they cannot normally afford to change their spending habits. And often, those that can will also not change their spending habits, because the cheapest options guarantee they have more money.
Libertarianism, specifically the ideal of zero corporate regulation, is ultimately a pipe dream. It relies on a populace willing and able to spend extra money to support moral business practices, something which we do not have. It also relies on immoral businesses not forming a monopoly by purchasing and/or driving out the competition, something which only is prevented thanks to government regulations.

From 1996  Honda lock and key system operates on a  transponder chip instrumentation and in 2007 select the Smart Entry System as the smart key and pushtostart ignition platform for majority of its cars.
The chips  transponder key transmits an extremely low-level combination of audio and infrared signal to the vehicle which can only be detected if the correct coded key is used, otherwise the fuel supply and the car will not flare up and may be halted for several mins.
This anti-theft platforms is helping the insurance companies, car owners and automakers in hampering crime and save millions around the world, nonetheless outplacing stolen, broken and lost keys or even copying a spare key is way more expensive.
Ignition repair
Apparently the most typical symptom of ignition problem is a vehicle that won't flare up, key wont enter all the way in the ignition, broken your key in the ignition or key got caught in the key-tunnel and won’t turn.
In some cases your ignition problem is due to dirt or obstacle stuck in the ignition key-tunnel or possibly a loose or broken rod or pin inside the ignition switch preventing the lock from turning around regularly.
Damaged ignition need to be replaced or repaired as quickly as possible and is a duty best done by a well versed car lock-man (particularly if your motor vehicle is decked with air bag system).  ignition repair or replacement generally involves immobilizing the steering wheel, which might create hazardous airbag stationing if done unskilled hands. Ignition switch repair or replacement commonly priced as approximately $160–$360.
When dealeng with a bad key, the syndrome might be that you will have problems turning the key in the ignition which really mean that the key is damaged and should be replaced. A damaged key better be replicated from the VIN number to avoid the risk of replicating the problem to the  duplicated key. An auto keysmith will employ suitable Honda diagnostic tools, programmers and cutters to issue a brand-new key which will priced as approximately $160–$260.
Transponder chipped key issue
Due to the large extent of vehicle theft towenty years ago, exceedingly all vehicle makers since nearby 1995 employ electrical keylock using passive anti theft system, transponder or V.A.T keys.
When transponder chipped key is placed into the ignition crack-hole, the chip activates and transmits a radio-frequency indicator code to the car's computer. If the sign code is identical to the code in the car main computer, the motor vehicle will flare up to obtain anti-theft platform for modern cars.
To originate or duplicate a key, cutting the key to match the ignition switch will be insufficient if you want to turn on the motor vehicle, as the key accommodate a transponder that has to be programmatically match to the immobiliser
Honda smartkey
Keyless device remotes, also known as (RKE or RKS) anable a car owner to unlock and lock their truck or car clicking the remote besides alternative components as unlatching the trunk or kindling the front-facing fog lights to boost visibility in inclement weather or at night. Also, some newer keys incorporate remote starting feature that is turnning to be mandatory on advanced models.
Eminently all smartkeys incorporate a proximity detector technology that is turned on when the keyless entry located within a specific range of the car. This Key-less entry are passive meaning that the vehicle can be unlocked and locked or disband and run the ignition without owners input.
Copy vs lost car keys
Motor vehicle keys lately there are no more $2.50 metal blade keys at a hardware or walmart store. Modernized Honda keys have gone computerized  key-fob, proximity key, flipkey and laser cut incorporating transponder keys that should be programmatically synced with diagnostic tools to the motor vehicle . If the car computer doesn't identify a matching transponder, the fuel supply will locked and the car will not start. This technology serves as a safety measurement assuring the immobilization of a misplaced or stolen key.
Though dash-board platform is applicable on several earliest designs to conveniently duplicate keys, in general to get another key programmed, the chip inside the key must be programmatically synced by a dedicated key programmer carried by a locksmith or the dealer which normally cost nearby $60-$120 on top of the value of the key blank.
Losing the last key to a vehicle is a complete different situation, as the car computer module must be re-coded to accept the new key and renounce the old one which actually means that you’ll must call a mobile vehicle lock-man or haul your vehicle to the dealership.
Employing this routine serves as a safety measurement assuring the immobilization of the misplaced or stolen key, though lost key programming, solution applicable only to the Honda dealer-ship or a licensed locksmith and accordingly will priced as approximately $180–$250.

Building a Photo-Editing Computer on the Cheap
Having returned to photography after a lay-off of some years, I had discovered a whole new world, where, among other things, computers had largely replaced darkrooms. It soon became apparent that my Windows 10 laptop was sadly underrated for the tasks required. I began to research alternatives.
I fairly quickly decided that while a top of the line laptop could probably do the job, there were still limitations, not least the price. Going back to a desktop tower computer configuration made more and more sense. Also, I negotiated the commandeering of a closet that was fortuitously suitable for a digital photo set up. Back into the closet — just like my darkrooms of earlier years!
Determining Desired Specs
I spent a lot of time on the Internet studying what would be the characteristics of a desirable computer. There was no question it would be a Windows 10 machine, far and away the best choice for the combination of cost and compatibility with a large number of post-processing programs. I came up with a list of desired minimum specifications:
Windows 10 Professional Operating System
Intel i7 processor, 4 cores
16 gigs of RAM
Decent Graphics Card
Terabyte of Storage
Further desirable options would be:
1. A solid-state drive (SSD) at least large enough for booting and start-up for programs. 256 gigs would serve nicely.
2. An additional 16 gigs of RAM bringing the total to 32 gigs.
And these additional options would require at the least that the computer could easily accept more RAM.
Searching for the Right Computer
I started looking for suitable computers. At first, a box that would meet my needs seemed easy to find — tower computers designed for home and office, and starting around $800 and heading north. But, these computers did not include a graphics card up to the task.
A graphics card suitable for a higher resolution monitor used for still photography and normal video would add somewhere from $130 and up. And, problematically, such a card would likely require at least 100 watts, probably more. But, careful checking of specification sheets demonstrated that the packaged computers from the big name companies had nowhere near that much reserve power.
It quickly became apparent that what I really wanted was a gaming computer. These machines featured everything I wanted: blazing speed, loads of memory and terrific graphics capability. And stiff pricing of $2,000 and up. Sigh.
I started looking at used and refurbished computers on eBay. One caught my eye: the Dell Optiplex 9010, being offered refurbished with 30-day return privilege, with Windows 10 Professional, an i7 processor running at 3.4 GHz and with 4 cores, 16 gigs of installed RAM and a 500-gigabyte new hard drive. It also included two optical drives — a read-only DVD drive and a read/write DVD drive. And the price: $260 delivered!
The seller, the Blind Center of Nevada, has an excellent eBay rating. Computers being retired are donated to them, but with the original hard drive held back and destroyed. They refurbish the computers, add a newer hard drive with Windows 10 Professional, test them and sell them for attractive prices. They were not the only vendor offering refurbished Optiplex 9010 computers but their offering seemed like the best value. (Note that there a number of refurbishers who offer the Optiplex 9010 through eBay, Amazon, Walmart, NewEgg, etc. Be sure to shop around.)
Anyhow, this was looking more and more like a viable solution. The Optiplex line has always been Dell’s front line business model, for which reliability was and is an important design criterion. Other than a burp around 2004, the product line has met reliability expectations.
The computer so offered did NOT include a keyboard or a mouse. But since I had a USB mouse and keyboard from an earlier computer that was not a problem. Also, the computer did not have a wireless interface for Wi-Fi. It did, however, include an Ethernet jack, plus 6 USB 2 and 4 USB 3 connectors. I found I could purchase on eBay a wireless USB adapter dongle for less than $7, which I ordered immediately.
The computer also did not include a card reader. After all, this computer was designed to be a serious office computer or work station, not a consumer model. Again, USB card readers from slow to fast are readily available on eBay and elsewhere from less than $10 to over $100.
I wanted a larger hard drive, but 500 gigs would serve me for quite a while. And more on that subject later in this article.
I started doing further research. One YouTube video, in particular, showed how the presenter upgraded the exact computer into a pretty decent gaming machine.
youtube
It is a major resource for this article. This video answered a lot of my questions quickly and became a major guide for my upgrading. Now convinced that I could accomplish what I wanted, I ordered the computer.
If you decide to follow closely in my footsteps, you should understand that the Dell Optiplex 9010 is available in several different configurations. The one I selected is the Dell Tower version.
If you choose to purchase a different configuration, you need to understand that it may well not be as easy to upgrade; indeed it may well be impossible.
Also, it is important to note that the 9010 family was available with a choice of Intel i3, i5 or i7 processors. The i7 is far and away the most powerful, which you will certainly want for graphics processing. Yet, surprisingly, the pricing differential is not that great. Insist on an i7.
I knew I would need to add a video graphics card and a beefed up power supply. I already knew a 450-watt Antec VP450 supply that would fit and, as specified in the above-referenced video, would cost about $37 on Amazon. And this supply would give me somewhere between 200 and 250 watts of reserve for a graphics card.
A week later, the computer arrived, well packed. The appearance was excellent — obviously not new, but clean and very acceptable. I put it on a table, attached an old VGA monitor, a keyboard and a mouse and fired it up. It booted up beautifully. I attached the wireless dongle and immediately had internet, once I was registered. I went to “Control Panel”, accessed the system page under “System and Security” and verified that the computer was what I ordered. It was.
Being well aware that this is a used computer, and with a 30-day return privilege, I was determined to rigorously test it. First, I ran the computer non-stop for three days, during which time it updated Windows 10 and also the Windows Defender virus definitions. Everything continued to operate flawlessly. Next, for three more days, I turned the computer on and let it run for an hour, then shut down, then an hour later turned it back on. I did this as convenient over a period of another three days. Again, the computer passed with flying colors.
While engaging in the run-in testing, I studied my options for a graphics card. Long story short, I ended up ordering from Amazon a Gigabyte GeForce 1050 card (GV-N1050OC-2GD) with 2 gigs of memory. The cost was $130.
While not the fastest card in the world it seemed, and later proved, to be everything I needed and more, and with a very low power draw, less than 100 watts.
It is worth noting here that there are other power supplies and other graphics cards available that will work fine in this computer. BUT! It is important that you confirm that they will fit! The length of both the power supply and the graphics card are important — there is only so much room available. (The video also covers this subject.)
Having satisfied myself that the computer was performing flawlessly, I unplugged everything, I laid it on its side, swallowed hard, grounded myself, broke the supplier’s seal and opened the computer, as per the video. I was immediately impressed with how clean the inside of the computer was. It looked like a brand new computer, not one manufactured around 2012.
Changing out the power supply proved to not be difficult. As per the video, I unplugged the cables from the original supply, then removed the 4 screws holding the supply to the computer case, and slid it forward and out. It is a good idea to make notes of where the cables were, and perhaps take a photo or two on a smartphone or camera.
Once the original supply is out, put the new supply in, replace and tighten the screws.
The new Antec VP450 supply came out of its box with many more cables than the original Dell supply. This was not a surprise, considering the Dell supply was purpose-built for the 9010, whereas the Antec supply was intended to be as universal as possible. Generally speaking, if one of the cables from the power supply will fit the power input connector for one of the 9010 components, it is safe and appropriate to use it. All connectors are keyed so that you can only plug them in one way — you can not plug one in backward. But there is one exception to this: the motherboard power connector does not exactly match the connector from the power supply!
It seems there were two different power connectors for standardized motherboards. One uses 20 pins, the other uses 24 pins. The 9010 uses 24 pins. The upgrade video does NOT explain this. The Antec supply uses a simple cure for the problem: they made the motherboard connector so that it accepts an additional mating connector adding the additional 4 pins making it work for the 9010. The additional mating connector is in the same cable bundle as the 20 pin connector does, and you will see that they can nest together and line up to offer 24 pins. If you watch the video closely you will see that the demonstrator does exactly that but without comment. The Antec manual, which must be downloaded from the Web, explains this… sort of. But you will see it when you get there and then it makes sense.
Anyhow, once I had attached power to all the connectors the original supply was hooked to, I tidied up the extra cables, tying them together with cable ties left from an earlier project. I can not tell you everything was neat, but the cables were tied off and out of the way. Then I replaced the cover, reattached the monitor, put the power cord into the new supply, turned the monitor back on, and then came the moment of truth. I pressed the power button on the computer and… nothing happened. As I began to panic, a quick thought occurred. I went to the back of the computer and pushed the rocker switch on the back of the new supply the other way, then tried the computer power button on the front again. And voila! The computer booted just fine, and I heaved a sigh of relief. All was well.
My next step was to install the video card. As the video shows, there is a blue accessory slot near the left end of the accessory slot bank. Actually, installing the card was very easy, once I had removed the two slot covers from the back, and removed the rubber foot protecting the graphics card connector pins. You have to get slightly physical to push the card down into the slot, but don’t force it! Everything should come together nicely. The Gigabyte card I had selected does not need an additional power connector as some cards do.
That done, I closed up the computer, attached my new graphics monitor, of which I’ll discuss later, and fired it up again. The computer booted, but the resolution on the monitor was terrible. I went to the Gigabyte site on the internet, and found and downloaded the correct drivers for the card for Windows 10 and installed them. I do not recall whether I had to reboot the computer after driver installation or not, but shortly everything was working properly, and with beautiful resolution and color.
That completed the first phase of the project, and as far as I am concerned it was very successful. I was now sporting a powerful computer that, though not state of the art, is not all that far behind either. Post-processing programs run beautifully on it. Windows 10 is an elegant operating system that supports everything very well. And, for what it is worth, this article is being written on the system. The best news is the price: At this point, I had $445 invested in it, excluding the monitor, but including the Wi-Fi dongle and a cheapie card reader that works fine.
I have a powerful computer that I am delighted with. What are the downsides I see? OK. Let’s face it: at the time of this writing, we are talking about a computer that is as much as 7 years old. There is no support for it. But again, any computer more than a year old likely has no significant support either. The 9010 was Dell’s front line business computer and they made many, many thousands of them.
What skill level is required to follow my path? My feeling is if you feel competent to change a light switch in your home you can manage this. You should have at least a modest understanding of your way around the Windows operating system.
Of course, the Dell 9010 is hardly the only available option for such treatment. Other front line computer makers also offered comparable systems and are worthy of consideration if the price is right. If looking at a different box, do make sure it will accept a more powerful power supply, that it will accept a graphics card, and that it either includes or can accept at least 16 gigs of RAM. I would certainly suggest you demand an i7 processor or the AMD equivalent. YouTube videos will almost certainly be available to help you if needed. Check first!
Adding a Solid State Drive
Once you have owned or used a computer with a solid state drive, you will never be happy booting a computer from anything else. A typical Windows 10 computer will boot in a fraction of a minute — not the five minutes or so that means you start the computer and then go get a cup of coffee. And, the price of solid state drives has plunged in the last year. As I write this, a quality 240 gig solid state SATA drive is going for $30.
The trick with these drives is to make them bootable. There are a number of ways to try to do this that are free. Sadly, my personal experience is that none of those methods worked for me. (My first experience of this was converting a laptop to a solid state drive.) Finally, in desperation, I spent $25 to purchase an Apricorn USB to SATA adapter from Amazon.
It showed up two days later — the adapter and the software needed — and an hour later I was smiling from ear to ear. I have since used it about 6 times making friends’ SSDs bootable and with never an error. Buy one and keep it — it will serve you for years. Just always check their website before each use to make sure you have the current software.
In purchasing an SSD you want to plan a little for it. SSDs do not last forever — every time you change the data, the bytes involved lose a tiny fraction of their life expectancy. The devices have some very clever software built in that spreads the usage out to maximize their life. Basically, if you never load the drive to more than about 60% of their capacity they will last for many years. The closer you get to 100% utilization the faster their life expectancy plummets. So, what you want to do is have your SSD be the boot drive, plus put all your operating programs on the SSD, and then all data files, pictures, etc. on a separate hard drive. The SSD becomes Drive C, the Hard drive becomes drive D.
So purchase first the SSD you desire as well as the Apricorn adapter. Load the Apricorn software on your hard drive, having checked their web site to see that it is the latest. Run the program. It will walk you through the steps needed. In perhaps half an hour, the SSD drive will be ready to go.
There are two ways you can physically mount the SSD into your 9010. The simple way, which is easily and entirely reversible, is to procure some sort of Velcro-type system. I bought a 3M substitute at Walmart for $3.
Turn off the computer and remove cables as needed. If you have the room to lay the computer on its side you don’t really need to remove most of the cables. For safety’s sake, however, you most certainly should remove or unplug the power cord. You will find the Hard Drive bay at the opposite corner of the corner from the power supply. Unplug the two cable sets — one goes to the power supply, the other to the motherboard, which is the data cable.
Squeeze the two blue handles of the hard drive caddy and lift it out, and set it aside. Now, attach the power cable and the data cable to the SSD. Put the SSD into the hard drive bay, figure out where to attach it to the wall, then apply the Velcro or substitute and thus attach it to the wall. It will probably be easier to temporarily remove the power and data cables to do this, once you have figured out the best location. If so, now replace the cables, close up the computer, re-attach cables and power up. You should be absolutely delighted with the speedy boot.
The original Hard Drive should be carefully placed in a protective bag, labeled and stored. If for any reason you have a boot failure or SSD failure, you can always put the original hard drive back into the computer and go from there.
The other method of mounting the SSD is well described in the above-referenced video, so is not covered in depth here. Suffice it to say it is the more elegant approach. But for a home user, the Velcro approach is entirely adequate and easier, cheaper, and quicker.
Adding a Large Capacity Hard Drive
As stated above, it is a very good practice to not utilize an SSD at full capacity. Plus, the storage of a lot of pictures can and will take up a lot of memory. I could have utilized the 500-gig hard drive supplied with the computer as a second drive, but for one thing, I wanted to save it as my boot-device back-up, and for another, I wanted rather more capacity. Back to eBay!
I fairly quickly found what looked to be a real bargain: a 3 terabyte SATA drive, new, for $50 post paid, from eBay advertiser GoHardDrive. Wow! I read the fine print carefully. The brand of the drive was not given, only that it was a “White label” Enterprise Drive. User comments said that the drive was made by Hitachi, a respected supplier. So what the heck is an Enterprise Drive? A little search engine research gave me answers: it is a drive intended for server farms — i.e. The Cloud. Some comments suggested that Enterprise drives are not as reliable as consumer-oriented drives, which, however, cost rather more for the same capacity.
I thought about this. I would have a back-up for the data, right? Be it on premises or in the cloud, anything you value must be backed up. That was good enough for me. I ordered the drive.
At the same time, I ordered another hard drive caddy for the 9010 from an eBay supplier, being careful to select a USA source, since I wanted the caddy quickly. And, as suggested in the video, I ordered a right-angle SATA data cable.
All arrived within a matter of days, and once in hand, I installed the new hard drive. I looked at the original hard drive, still in its caddy, to figure out how to mount the drive into the “new” caddy, which turned out to be simple once I figured it out. I unplugged the computer, placed it on its side, and removed the cover. The caddy with the new drive dropped easily into the empty drive bay. I found another power cable with the appropriate connector from the bundle of unused cables from the power supply and attached that. I followed the SATA data cable from the SSD to the motherboard and saw the rest of the SATA inputs. There was one vacant socket left. I plugged the new SATA cable into that and the opposite end into the new drive, closed up the computer, and powered it back up.
Hmmm. Windows Explorer showed no sign of the drive. Then, fortuitously, I remembered the note on the hard drive invoice: “You will need to format the drive before it can be seen on your computer.” Okay…
A brief exploration of the internet gave easy directions to do this. You are taken to “Disk Management”, where you will find the new drive is listed, then directed to partition and format the new drive. The actual process of doing so takes rather less time than researching it.
I chose to add no partitions to the drive. And, I designated it to be drive “D”.
And it was done. It was still necessary to tell a number of my programs that data was to be stored on Drive “D”. Also, I entered the “Power Management” profile and set the hard drive to switch off after 10 minutes of not being used. It is my hope that this will greatly extend the life of the drive.
And that concludes this portion of the article. Actually, I have now set up two identical computers as per above, both purchased from the same sources, one in service with a friend. While not quite state of the art, they are powerful computers that should serve well into the future. I did consider adding more RAM memory, to go from 16 gigs to 32 gigs, but I have not yet seen a situation where I believe the added Ram would have given me greater performance. If I do decide to add more RAM later, it is a simple matter to install it.
I did add one other item that has been a very nice addition: a backlit keyboard that uses real key switches. I got it from Amazon — it is an Eagletec KG010 Mechanical Keyboard, USB Wired for $40. It took a little getting used to but I love it. It is a great tool for writing.
So. Now I have a fine computer for post-processing. But what about a monitor? Of course, that is a separate story. I did the usual internet research for what constituted a good monitor for photo post-processing. After some research, I had developed a listing of suitable monitors from several different manufacturers. I took that list and checked the usual sources. I was willing to consider a used model if the provenance sounded right.
Again, long story short, I purchased a BenQ PD2700Q 27″ 1440p Designer Monitor refurbished, directly from BenQ. The monitor was listed on eBay for $236. All I can say is that if this monitor was ever out before refurbishment, I could never tell. It seems perfect in every way, not least including no apparent bad pixels. The color is beautiful and I am delighted with it — it is a very fine match for my computer. It was designed for photo editing and works beautifully for that. Today the world is moving towards 4K video and higher, with higher resolution in video monitors. But the BenQ 27″ works for me. The computer video card will indeed support higher resolution monitors but I have no present plans to update.
I hope this article will encourage others to try my path. I figure my frugality has saved me at least $1,000 which can and will be applied to new photo gear.
Please note that I have absolutely no financial connection with any of the suppliers referenced. I get no royalty or commission. Happily, and without exception, everything I ordered has performed as expected, to my pleasure. And this article was written on the computer this story is about. Cheers!
