For the SE series, this is definitely a redesign, and it would have been uber-popular if this phone was released back in 2016. However, in the year 2020, releasing a new phone with that design is definitely not going to win hearts. Apple would be changing something up maybe at least a redesign at the back or maybe a redesign at the front and the only difference that you can see right now is the Apple logo which is in the middle. Another noticeable thing about the new iPhone SE is that it has a really small screen and compared to Apple's flagship phones, it looks pretty outdated. We don't really think that Apple can excuse the repositioning of the Apple logo to satisfy its users.

A13 Bionic Processor

The A13 Bionic processor in the new iPhone SE has plenty more benefits than just boosting the camera. Apple claims that this chip offers 2.4x faster performance than the A9 processor in the original iPhone SE, and it's 40 percent faster than the chip in the iPhone 8's A11 Bionic. Graphics should also see a dramatic improvement, as the iPhone SE is rated for up to 4 times the graphics might as the iPhone SE and twice the performance of the iPhone 8. All of the above should result in faster app launching, smoother scrolling through apps and better gameplay. You'll also be able to take advantage of a wide range of iPhone augmented reality apps. 

Depth Control A simple slider lets you blur the background as much or as little as you like — before or after you take the photo.

Portrait Lighting Choose from six studio‑quality effects, then adjust the lighting intensity to show your subject in the best possible light.

Let there be light Next‑generation Smart HDR knows a face when it sees one, and intelligently relights it to capture more natural-looking contours and skin tones. It also finesses highlight and shadow detail in the background. So every part of your photo looks amazing.

This is not just some recycled camera experience. The new iPhone SE features a 12MP camera with a f/1.8 aperture, which is similar to the iPhone XR, but Apple says that this is its best single-camera system ever. That's because the iPhone SE leverages the image signal processor and Neural Engine in the A13 bionic chip to offer computational photography benefits the iPhone 8 -- and even iPhone XR -- can't match. The front 7MP camera can take portraits with bokeh effects as well, thanks to a technology called monocular depth estimation. Last but not least, the iPhone SE can record 4K video at 60 fps, and it offers cinematic stabilization for smoother looking footage.

Battery Life and Charging The iPhone SE should offer the same long battery life as the iPhone 8, which was rated for 12 hours of Internet usage. But we'll have to see how long the device lasts on our own battery test, which involves continuous web surfing on 4G LTE, to see if the new iPhone SE can make our best phone battery life list. The good news is that the iPhone SE 2020 supports fast 18W charging, but you'll need to spring for the adapter, as the in-box charger supports only 5W. The iPhone SE also supports Qi wireless charging, and there's plenty of great options on our best wireless chargers list.

iPhone SE 2020 Outlook

Whether you're getting your first iPhone for a teenager or you simply prefer smaller phones, the iPhone SE 2020 should have what most people need for a very affordable price. The A13 Bionic chip means you won't have to worry about this phone slowing down, and it should be able to run the upcoming iOS 14 just fine. And between its Portrait Mode and Smart HDR support, the single rear camera should deliver the performance you need. Some may want to see what Google's Pixel 4a has to offer. It's rumored to cost the same $399 as the new iPhone SE and offer a bigger 5.8-inch OLED display with full HD resolution along with strong cameras of its own. But we'll have to see how it holds up in our testing.  Overall, though, the iPhone SE 2020 looks like it could be one of the best cheap phones ever.

Apple finally introduced the iPhone SE (2020) with an A13 Bionic chipset and an improved camera. The company kept its tradition not to reveal RAM and battery capacity of its devices, but thanks to a listing at China Telecom’s website, we got the details. Now that the 2020 iPhone SE is official, Apple has decided to kill the iPhone 8. First of all, yes, the company was still selling the iPhone 8, all the way up until today. Second, this makes sense when you think about it, as the iPhone SE is basically just an iPhone 8 with the latest A13 chipset and better camera software. And slightly differing color options. It's also cheaper than the iPhone 8 used to be, so there's really no point in these two competing against each other in the company's roster. Apple has also stopped selling the iPhone 8 Plus, but the situation is a bit more complicated with this one. While you can't buy an iPhone 8 Plus straight from Apple anymore, there is no "iPhone SE Plus" to take its place. So, the company is apparently still allowing some of its retail partners to continue stocking and offering the iPhone 8 Plus. It's unclear for how long, though. It definitely would have been interesting to see an iPhone SE Plus arriving alongside the iPhone SE (2020), with the same type of chip refresh packed inside. But perhaps the company is trying to get fans of bigger phones to go for its iPhone 11 instead, and wouldn't want to cannibalize that model's sales in such a way.
