I was writing, but then I ended up sketching how the Dragon warband looked in their early years (after they left the fahrar at ~16yo), right before the mission that led Kouran to retire from active duty in 1308 AE. After that, they decided to rename the warband to Wing, and continued their streak of successful missions (or "creative interpretation of orders").
I really want to finish this headshot lineup, but I gotta determine some design elements first (and fix those things that aren't supposed to be there yet oops). Maybe I'll even do a 12 years later pic.
Some fun facts in the meantime:
- Odhran and Obsius are non-identical twins, which is obvious given that the first is albino while the rest of their family has dark fur. What they lack in strength and bulk, they make up for in craftiness and trickery. - Ardea and Sidonia are half-sisters, with the first being almost a year younger. Their mother was a Flame Legion refugee and the only one of her family to reach safety when she was just a cub, and taught them not to be ashamed of their powerful fire magic. - Aurelia and Ardea are fahrar sweethearts. Gross and cute at the same time, I know. - Aurelia and Obsius became friends the day she arrived the fahrar. Specifically, she saw Obsius being picked on for being scrawny, decided she'd protect him, and then proceeded go to pick him up in spite of him being a few months older than her. - Kouran and Reeva were a thing for a few years in the fahrar, now they're insufferable besties. - Kouran is the designated group mom. - Lupita and Rorick were thought to be a couple, but they've always been just close friends. She was non-verbal cub and he liked hanging out with her because she didn't mock his furless face (result of a spell gone wrong) and liked his stories. - Aurelia is the tallest, Sidonia is the buffest, Obsius and Odhran are the smallest (Obsius is lither).

The satoyama of Machida city, Tokyo is my home ground, where I spent several years before entering grad school in ecology, going there every week to learn the attitude of facing living things. I often visited there as a place for nature guiding after I went to the grad school, but it was hard to find the time to go there to immerse myself in my own nature observations. With a local female naturalist whom I respect so much, I took a precious trip to recall my origins while walking through the spring in Machida for the first time in seven years. The woman was over 70 years old and climbed up a steep slope faster than me without losing her breath. She is a person who knows all about the flora and fauna in the satoyama. What fun it was to follow her back and observe the creatures. In my study of ecology over the past several years, I have been conscious of the perspective of "analyzing" living organisms, but this was a moment that made me question once again the meaning of "loving" living organisms. The photo is a Great egret, Ardea alba.

Lancia Appia Zagato GTE
Introduced in 1953 as a replacement for the Ardea, Lancia built over 100,000 Appias in total. All used the ultra-compact 1090cc, 10-degree V4 engine which originally produced a mighty 38bhp (this one has 60!). Despite the numbers you’ll rarely encounter one these days and none as special as this.
In 1956 Lancia made a chassis available to coachbuilders. Allemano, Ghia, Vignale and Pinin Farina were among those who had a dabble, but it was Zagato, treading its own idiosyncratic path as usual, which really defined the sporting Appia.
The coupé was the first Zagato-bodied Lancia to go into limited series production and was the genesis of a fruitful collaboration for both companies. Zagato produced three basic versions over the next six years: GT (or GTS, or GTZ…), GTE and Sport.
At the Turin Show of 1958, the GTE (‘E’ for esportazione, or export) emerged, its longer front overhang accommodating recessed and faired-in headlights and for 1960, a power hike from 53 to 60bhp was celebrated by yet another headlight configuration (still recessed, but without fairings) plus the addition of front-wing indicator repeaters and side- window wind deflectors.
All the versions shared the same basic construction and engineering Under the aluminium outer skin lurks a strong steel structure, which is nonetheless quite light. The package is also highly efficient aerodynamically, Zagato successfully adhering to the usual Lancia recipe – ‘efficiency, precision and balance rather than brute-force horsepower’.
This is demonstrated well by the cars’ competition record. On his way to an 1100cc class win on the 14 Mille Miglia, Luciano Mantovani set some average speeds that all but matched far more powerful opponents from Maranello and Stuttgart; and Zagato Appias cleaned up in the 1100ce class of the Italian Championship from 1959 to ’61 – driven, that final year by Cesare Florio.

Bunch of Aurelia from 2021 + Aurelia with Obsius and Ardea fresh out of the fahrar (they made the centurion pretty mad indeed, but everything went so fine they weren't punished for it and making their own call became a pretty successful habit)
