It wasn't a successful hunt, that's for sure.

Aro was not pleased with how things went, he should have been more careful. But he tended to forget how fragile humans were, especially when they were important to him.

It had been an ambush, there had been more vampires from a rival group than Aro had anticipated. He and Lucian did their best to take them out, and Peter had at least took one out with a strong swing of his sword, but he had gotten swarmed.

They were lucky that Lucian had noticed in time before Peter was killed, but the vampires had managed to hurt him. So, in return, Aro and his lycan lover hurt them.

Peter was trying to stay awake as Lucian worked to clean up his wounds. "It really could've been worse..." Peter mumbled, leaning against Aro, the two of them sitting against the human's car.

"Yes, it could have, but the fact that you were harmed at all has me very..." Aro inhaled deeply, exhaled, and tried to keep himself in control. "Well, I think it would be wise that you take a little break from slaying, Peter."

"Mmmm, don't wanna." Came the slurred reply. Ah, he must have lost a bit more blood from the claws than Aro realized.

Lucian, luckily, was on it, giving Peter a soda he had brought with him for the drive to the location. Peter took it without complaint, drinking it.

"I think that's all of them, I don't see anything else." Lucian commented, sighing as he finished with the last bandage. "I have to agree with Aro, it would be wise for you to take a small break, especially to heal. It was too close of a call tonight."

Peter made a face as he downed the last of his drink and crossed his arms. "I'll do better next time."

"Yes, but for now, you need to stay out of the action while I investigate this." Aro sighed. Peter looked ready to protest, but he gave up, closing his eyes instead.

"I'm tired..." He murmured as Lucian sat down next to him, taking his hand.

"You can go to sleep now." Aro spoke to both of them. "I will keep watch."

I come to you since you seem to have an ear to the ground. Why is Aro/some guy named Peter Vincent a thing? I keep seeing this pairing, and it feels like the internet is playing an elaborate joke on me where two characters from wildly different franchises who have absolutely nothing in common in any way are somehow a popular ship with fics and art.

Please explain, not knowing is killing me. I feel like... like how a tumblr newcomer who'd never heard of Destiel would have felt last year on November 6th.

The most popular ship with Aro, on AO3 at least, is with some guy from a completely unrelated fandom.  It’s crazy.

I wasn’t around for the launching of this ship, so I don’t know the history, but I’m going to guess that it at least started off as more of a Michael Sheen character x David Tennant character thing.  Especially after Good Omens, ships involving characters played by these two started popping up more frequently as an extension of the GO universe.

Someone probably looked at Aro and Peter Vincent, went “hey, vampires, it works” and started creating.  I’m assuming that this led to others seeing this vampire x vampire hunter AU (enemies to lovers, vampires, pining, angst, vampires, you’ve got all the ingredients), some of whom thought “you know what, this could work.”

And the vincturi ship set sail.
