Work on it has been slow going because making a comic is hard. And yes, I know that it looks inconsistent because some of the pages were drawn digitally and a few were drawn on actual paper that I scanned into my computer (I wanted to experiment with different looks for the characters, which is why, and then decided to go back to digital).

saturdays are when you thrive. going out with all your college friends was just tradition at this point.

sitting at the bar in between anna and courtney, you complain about another failed date you had recently.

“ugh, he was just the worst! he was talking about his podcast the whole time, and then asked me to go back to his place? what do men expect me to say after that. ‘oh yes you talking about your alpha male, gym, i hate women podcast really made me so attracted to you’ like come on!” you turn to anna who’s laughing at you, with a sad stare, and she then is quick to put a hand on your shoulder.

“it’s okay! im sure you’ll find your man soon. isn’t court trying to set you up with that guy from her work?” she says to you, cocking her head to the side slightly.

courtney then chimes in, “yes! oh my gosh, her and spencer are literally perfect for each other! you need to meet him soon, you’ll love him!” she says with a wide smile.

“i mean, he is pretty cute…” you trail off.

courtney had been trying to set you and her friend spencer up for weeks now, and as she continued to gush about how spencer would appreciate your nerdiness and how you would adore his, you feel a tug of curiosity. ignoring the conversation for a moment, you make your way to the old street fighter arcade machine at the end of the bar. the familiar sounds of the game fill your ears as you slip a coin into the slot, your fingers itching to take control of your favorite character - ryu.

as you focus on the game, your mind drifts to the idea of meeting spencer. would he really be as perfect for you as courtney says? The thought lingers in your mind a bit as you unleash a flurry of moves on the joystick, losing yourself in the focus.

as you're deeply engrossed in the game, spencer enters the bar, scanning the room for courtney. spotting her animatedly chatting with anna, he makes his way over, a small smile playing on his lips. courtney notices him approaching and waves him over eagerly.

"hey, spencer! glad you could make it," she greets him with enthusiasm, nudging anna to make space for him between them.

"hey, court, thanks for inviting me!" spencer replies, returning her smile. his eyes then wander around the bar, landing on you as you fiercely battle your way through the arcade game.

courtney follows his gaze and grins mischievously. "oh, hey, look who's here! it's the girl i've been telling you about," she says, motioning towards you.

spencer's interest piques, and he watches you play for a moment, impressed by your technique. he can't help but notice how focused you are, your determination evident in every move you make. with a newfound curiosity, he watches in awe as you skillfully defeat everyone you fight with ease.

“hey…” you whip your head around and stand up straight from your practically bent over pose, as you hear courtney’s voice from behind you.

there, stood next to her, is possibly the most attractive man you’d ever seen.

he’s got beautiful brown eyes, and dark curly hair. with glasses. oh my. he’s dressed in slacks, tattered old vans, a flannel, and an old work jacket.

“um, hi court.” is all you can muster up to say to her.

“this is spencer, spencer this is the woman of your dreams!” she giggles.

spencer glares at her, but then smiles sincerely at you.

“so, street fighter, huh? you've got some serious skills," spencer remarked, impressed by your gameplay.

you glanced over at him, offering a small smile in return. "thanks! it's one of my favorite games. i've been playing since i was a kid. i think it’s one of the main reasons i decided to be a game developer."

courtney takes this opportunity to slip away from you both, leaving you to geek out together, and she rushes over to anna

“i told you! twenty bucks says they leave together!” she grins.

“you are so on!” anna replies.

across the bar, you and spencer are chatting it up, both leant against the wall near the machine.

spencer takes a sip of his drink before leaning in. "so, who's your main in street fighter?"

you grin, a rush of excitement at the chance to talk about your favorite character. "call me basic, but definitely ryu! i love his playstyle, and his hadoukens! they’re pretty gnarly."

"classic choice," spencer replied with a nod of approval. "i’m more of a ken guy myself. gotta respect the fiery spirit, you know?"

you giggle, nodding in agreement. "yeah, ken's cool. those shoryukens can really mess up the game though.”

he smiles at your reply, and the conversation flows on. you find yourself talking to him for the better part of an hour, eventually sitting at the bar with him.

“um, you don’t have to say yes,” he says, turning to you. “but, would you want to come back to my place?”

you smile at him, and tuck a strand of hair behind your ear “i’d like that.”

and so, you find yourself walking back to spencer’s apartment and talking to him about how much you love zelda.

stepping into his apartment, you’re immediately greeted by an array of nerdy decorations that cover every corner. posters of classic video game characters lined the walls, and shelves filled with action figures and memorabilia from various fandoms.

"wow, you have quite the collection!" you exclaimed, taking in the sight with wide eyes.

spencer chuckles nervously with a sheepish smile, scratching the back of his head. "yeah, i might have gone a little overboard."

but to you, it’s like stepping into a treasure trove of nostalgia, and honestly? you were jealous. you eagerly made your way around the room, pointing out your favorite pieces and telling him about the games and shows you loved most.

"that's a limited edition link figurine, right?" you ask, pointing to a display on one of the shelves.

spencer nodded, a hint of pride in his voice. "yeah, it's one of my prized possessions! i also have a few special edition zelda figures."

as you continue to explore, spencer watches you with a mixture of awe and admiration. he had never met someone who shared his passion for all things nerdy quite like you did. It felt surreal to have someone in his space who not only appreciated but genuinely enjoyed his interests.

before long, the initial awkwardness of the invitation fades away, replaced by a comfortable ease as you bond over your shared love for video games, movies, and everything in between.

the night continues, and you end up making him watch your favourite film - perfect blue, which you watch in comfortable silence.

as the credits roll, you stretch out comfortably on spencer's couch, feeling the pleasant weight of sleep pulling at your eyelids. the movie is intense, and you’re exhausted from the day's excitement.

spencer glances over at you, a soft smile playing on his lips as he noticed your drooping eyelids. he gently reached for the remote and turned off the playstation you were using to watch it, casting the room into a soothing darkness.

"you tired?" he asks, his voice low and gentle.

you nod sleepily, snuggling into the cushions. "yeah, it's been a long day. sorry for almost falling asleep on you."

spencer chuckles softly, shaking his head. "don't apologize. it's actually kind of nice having someone to watch movies with, even if they fall asleep halfway through."

you smile, feeling a warmth spread through your chest at his words. despite only meeting him tonight, you already feel a sense of comfort in his presence.

with a contented sigh, you let yourself drift off, the steady rhythm of spencer's heartbeat beneath you lulling you into a peaceful slumber.

later that night, as you sleep soundly against him, spencer can’t resist taking a picture of you, your peaceful expression illuminated by the soft glow of the tv’s ‘no signal’ screen. he texts it to courtney with a simple message: "she isn't too bad."

as he presses send, a smile tuggs at the corners of his lips.

courtney opens the message to see your face, her jaw dropping. she closes the messages from spencer, and immediatley texts anna,

Yooo, we've made it to the end!! (Of creating at least, still two more days left but I didn't have time to make anything. Also still written in advance to the actual week.)

Home, Good Neighbours - Leo's homesickness, Logan missing Gryfindor in NY, Finn wanting to go back to Logan at Harvard. All of it. Though it did mainly make me think of Leo going home for a little bit after the Rangers knocked the Lions out of the playoffs in Vaincre.

Adaine's exchanges with Oisin really took me off guard, just because romance has kind of never been able to be on her plate the past two seasons. It totally makes sense, she was dealing with the worst abusive family ever, but also that means that 17-year-old cool girl adaine is absolutely clueless about this stuff (not to say that Oisin is any better).

This song, in particular, is MY burnout song. It's one of my favorites, and it (Romans 10:9 by The Mountain Goats) is what I listen to when I just can't take it anymore. What kind of blog is this, anyway? I don’t write fanfics or chats with the MC. I don’t post trivia or edits. I can’t even draw.

So why am I even here?

I’ve been asking myself that a lot lately. Not just about this blog, but about my life in general. I’m three days away from turning 38 and yet I’m lonely. Suppressed.

But then, as I played Nightbringer tonight, I started bopping my head to Mammon’s song.

Then of course Best Babygirl Diavolo is on my Home Screen.

I have almost 40 followers. Almost 100 people helped me brainstorm ideas for Diavolo’s boyfriend. I lead a life that constantly has my mind wandering into very dark places but then I remember Obey Me.

I spent a $1 to print up a picture of Diavolo so I can tape him to my work station. When other people have pictures of their family or friends 😆

Too personal for an Obey Me blog? Perhaps. But I have no one that hears me IRL. No one to hear how lonely and sad I am. I won’t burden you with all of the details, but I will just say that it’s very comforting to know I can use this place as an outlet. It’s double comforting to know people actually enjoy being here.

So. What is this trash anyways? A place of Diavolo worship and a place to just celebrate Obey Me as a whole.

Assistant Noah AU: How Alejandro would react to Assistant Noah trying to warn Owen about the Spanish Charmer, by calling the Charmer an 'eel dipped in grease'?... Would Alejandro be salty that he can't vote Assistant Noah off, since Noah isn't a contestant?... Would Alejandro charm + flirt harder with Assistant Noah? 😘

noah being an assistant here implies something very specific — being, he’d definitely know alejandro knows. this would mean more, except that noah is not here for the competition, he’s here for The Paycheck.

on noahs end at least i don’t think he would care much, but i do hesitate to say what alejandro specifically would think of the situation — because despite him being badmouthed (which. i will get to), it does imply favoritism that noah is telling owen, which he may assume to extend further to their team and potentially be an advantage point.

he is. wrong. noahs ‘favoritism’ extends to owen and not so much in challenges, but im sure there’s potential there for alejandro to try and make nice with owen to reap this favoritism (or at least cut down how much owen receives by being close, since noah doesn’t seem to like alejandro much) < but the turning point comes with that because noah just Does Not Care.

i’d imagine he’d be juuust as flagrant about his favoritism without it technically infringing on any rules, explicit or implicit (and the rest of the cast, sans maybe those like heather or courtney, would be aware that owen would never do anything underhanded or wildly unfair with those privileges so it’s not so major in that regard either)

anyway, alejandro sees what happens and tries to intercept on owen to reap some benefit or control over the situation, and it doesn’t work. where does he go from there? flirting!!

^ this has more to it than narrative, being mostly alejandro’s character and it’s existence, really. while in canon his charming is more consistently his ‘first option’ for his scheming, you can see it through his relationship through heather how it can be a failsafe instead — where he can’t explicitly scheme her away from the game like he could with team victory, he flirts with her to make her emotionally volatile.

(also something to be said about how it is, in a way, a manner of forcing himself control over at least a small part of it)

all my rambling to mean that since alejandro can do nothing about noah, he goes to reap control and petty enjoyment through trying to fluster him (and, back to what i said earlier, probably some vindication for being badmouthed). spoiler alert: it doesn’t work.

finally getting over to the being badmouthed thing, i would want it to mean something more exciting, but the kinda boring, semantical answer i can give is just that. noah would probably know because he has access to stuff like confessional footage.

don’t get me wrong there’s definitely potential for a misunderstanding-type situation where alejandro writes off his own intrigue in noah as ‘wanting to figure out how he knew’, and introduces the conflict when someone (likely noah himself) tells him that no, he just knows because he has footage access. that’s it.

^ it would theoretically kill alejandro’s interest, but retconned with that alejandro may reason (in a way to ignore his feelings. stupid man in Denial) that it would bother noah if he continues to flirt despite knowing this.

(and of course that like heather is the only person alejandro could drop pretenses around in canon, noah would be that to him here — because he could. noah knows, he knows noah knows, and there’s no explicit or immediate threat to his game by doing so < which might amp up post-owen elimination, after noah is soothed from his inevitable spite.)

which he would be kind of right about? i do mostly see noah as more pissed that it’s taking away from his job (probably more at chris’ insistence, as the viewers are eating it up) and there being a more definite pivotal point once owen is eventually eliminated.

(going more definitely two-sided, i’d imagine noahs own feelings developing as he needles for information through alejandro’s constant attempts at flirting and does genuinely appreciate the more genuine parts of himself.)

for an actual relationship between them though i do imagine it would have to come post-season — either route you take it, drama-bot or not.

Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor's Gambit Review!

Spoilers Ahead!

★ Score: 8.5/10 ★ Date Finished: September 8th, 2024 ★ Final Thoughts: Another amazing installment into the Ace Attorney franchise. I was nervous about this game because its direct predecessor is kind of just average in comparison to other entries. But this game really shines through by the end. The first and second cases aren't anything to write home about at a surface level. They come off as vaguely unimportant and boring at certain moments, but they drop multiple hints that more is at play for this overall story. The third case makes things more interesting, playing as Gregory is a fun twist and coordinating the past case to the one Miles is currently working on is clever. At times it would get confusing due to various switches between perspective and a few things looking identical for very logical reasons. Regardless, the game does well enough to make sure the player has a good understand of all that is transpiring before them. The fourth case was probably my favorite in the game, yes its your typical "important supporting character get amnesia" but what can I say its typical for a reason. The game plants seeds of an overarching force at play during previous parts of the game, but these are when they really start to sprout. Finally the last case is when these sprouts bloom and everything unfolds in front of you. The last case can also be hard to follow at times, there is so much going on that its easy to get lost or confused but it all makes sense in the end. This case holds a lot of interesting reveals and plot twist, I was completely hooked. This game does some amazing character work, probably some of the best in the series. There are so many genuinely complex characters in this game, with Edgeworth finally facing a true choice on his path as a prosecutor, Courtney's slow transition from your opponent to a great ally as her intentions come to light, Sebastian Debeste finally finding his own feet and standing up against his ass-hat father, and lastly Simon Keyes being the grand reveal at the end and playing the villain really damn well (in a reveal I can only hope surprised others more than me lol). The music in this game is also fucking great, probably some of my favorite tracks are in here.. but at the same time there are a few that are a little harsh on the ears, but it balances out. I am glad this game is finally out by legal means in the US but I think there is really something special about getting to experience the fan translation, there is a lot of community love put into this game and you can tell.

I love Warren but he is high key lost potential and it makes me so sad. His character doesn't have the best writing and has some pretty bad dialogue lines for no reason. Also we don't lnow anything about Warren besides the fact he loves science, movies, and has a crush on Max. Most major characters in the game have a backstory of some kind....except Warren. For god sakes, we get to talk to poor Taylor and learn about her sick mom, but there's net zero info on Warren His character is already very bare bones effort, the fact the devs caved in to procefielders and fucked him up even more to make them happier makes me livid. I stand on my belief that Carlos Luna was sabotaged. I also think there are other LIS1 characters who are lost potential like Brooke, Courtney, Stella, Dana and etc but that's a story for another day. 💀

I just wish we got so much more and to see more of who he was because he is so sweet, and I would've loved to see that more. It infuriates me to no end, knowing that the devs doubled down and appealed to the larger part of the fanbase, giving him fewer appearances, stating that he is a "stalker" in canon. I haven't read the comics but I I'm pretty sure they butchered his character there too.

I get that this game was important to many people, ESPECIALLY in 2014, because of the main female character getting the choice to romance her also female friend, that was super important and still is!!! But it's also not good to completely wipe another character, also stated as Max's best friend and another romance option and just. Giving us the option to hug or kiss him?? I'm not a big grahamfield-er either, but they had a lot of potential if they didn't completely ruin Warren's character because people didn't like him. There's still people who do??

I would've loved more depth to his character, even though it's really nice to read between the lines and make up some of my own things, I'm super afraid of going off of canon but like. There's barely any canon character to go off of so I can make up my own shit as I please- /pos

But I would've loved some dialogue of him worrying over having to study, and he probably shouldn't be out and about, gives us the feel that he pressures himself too much even if he's already doing his best and is one of the highest achieving students at Blackwell. Would've loved to see him being a bit mischievous at times after being exposed to Chloe, I firmly believe he'd be easily influenced and change his personality for the people he hangs out with without knowing. Which adds more depth!!

But ahhhhhh, I'm sorry for all the rants, guys😔😭 I don't want this to be all of what my blog is but everyone has a little hate/dislike in their heart and for me,,,,is assassinations of good characters. Whether literally or within writing. In Warren's case, it's both. I love sharing my art with all of you, but I still love it when you guys interact and send stuff in my inbox. ok i know i literally just asked @msmargaretmurry this and agree with everything she says but in hopes of having an original thought:

i think THEE biggest factor (besides like. is it well written/actually edited/meet my low bar) is like. does the relationship feel believable? by which i mean, i can like many permutations of relationship (friends to lovers! exes reuniting! bickering tension turning into sexy tension!) but there has to be the ground work of, here are these two people, and here is why they would be attracted to each other, and here is why they would work well together. i really really REALLY bounce on instalove type stories where it's like "well they love each other because they do." simply insufficient for me!! relatedly, there's that post about "does your ship like each other" and ultimately i DO have to believe that these two people like each other. even if it's a growing into liking type story with some animosity to start, they gotta get to that point.

i really dislike, like, miscommunication for the sake of a third-act conflict. miscommunication can work so well but only if it feels organic/natural! there is nothing worse than when you can SEE the author being like "well x can't spit this out bc i need to fill forty more pages"

also i think my first point ties into this like, your plot arc will work better if there is some first phase of the relationship that puts up a barrier to realizing the relationship (can't ruin the friendship, but would he really like me when he was so mean at the ball, etc), rather than "we love each other but external forces are against us". internal conflict will always beat external when it comes to romance!

one thing i DO like in romance is when the background characters are well drawn. i like when there are other relationships as important to the protagonists (friends/family/etc)! it makes everything richer.

finally the sex has to like. be specific! genuinely the hottest scene ive ever read was in the governess affair because it was SO grounded in "here is how these two specific people would have sex" and i was like hot damn courtney!!!!!

anyway i feel like im just repeating becs but it's like. i just want it to feel like two fully realized people who figure out they want to be together, is that so much to ask (apparently yes)

don is such a fun host! he doesn't want anyone to get hurt, and doesn't push anything 'for the ratings'. and even so, he manages to have a lot of funny, witty moments. of course, chris is still my favorite host, but don definitely cuts it close!... especially because, let's be real, we all forgot anyone else in the universe. (don't come for me blaineley fans she's fine I SAID DON'T COME FOR ME STAY BACK PLEASE I HAVE A FAMILY)

the LARPers. definitely some... interesting characters. they're the prime example of total drama's flat and boring personalities, most of which were distributed in pahkitew island. i'm kinda mad that, of all those horribly mid and boring characters, we got the most mid and boring one back. hell i'd have preferred dave there, he'd had given us some substance to the story. i don't even remember the girl's name and i don't wanna google it. forgettable, but definitely annoying for as long as they were on screen.

the tennis rivals. good, but overhyped i think. at least, i've seen a lot of people talk about them and ship them, especially since their cameo in the reboot. i for sure thought they'd last longer because of that. i really liked their banter but they don't come close to my favorites. i will not be calling any of their agents. sorry :(

the geniuses. yeah they definitely existed! i mean their characters were fine and i really don't have anything against them, plus their concept is kinda fun. but i absolutely despise courtney's character and hearing her voice come out of another contestant's mouth made me hate her immediately. I STILL KINDA LIKE HER... like, her character design is fun... i just don't care for them that much

the vegans. they look sooo pretty and.. that is the sole reason i put them down as 'i vibe with'. i really don't care for them. i don't even know their names lmfao

"Hey Amanda," Courtney sang in a character voice.

It was 7:15 am on a shooting day. Nobody else but Ian and Tommy were at the office yet, but they were watching stuff on Ian's phone and didn't pay attention. Amanda was making coffee, but now she turned her attention to Courtney.

"Oh, hello! Who have we here?"

"Tis I, the bringer of hot, scorching tea." Courtney did a little ballet dance around Amanda. She wore baggy clothes today, with her short haircut and glasses.

"Okay, okay, spill?"

"Well, have you noticed you always sit next to Angela in videos lately? There hasn't been a single one where there was someone in between you the last month."

Amanda actually didn't know. Or she hadn't noticed at least. It was so natural to have Angela at her side. They would always be joking, touching, hugging... it was great to have her 'soulmate' next to her, as Angela had declared "a soulmate can be a friend!"

"Is that the tea you're spilling, then?"

"No, it's just that there was someone who requested you always sit next to each other. Do you want to know who it is?"

"Is it... Is it Ian? No? Spencer? Kiana?"

Courtney kept shaking their head.

Tommy yelled, "Oh my god Ian, that's the worst thing I've ever seen! Please just... pour bleech in my eyes or something..."

Ian laughed and continued to show him whatever horrors he had on his phone this time.

Amanda ignored them.

"Then who?"

Courtney had that look in their eyes they usually reserved for when they were with Ian and Anthony.

"Angela requested it herself! She just always wants to sit next to you, she said!"

"Awwe, that's so cute! Oh my god, I'm gonna cry that's so sweet! I want to co-request it if you don't mind! Can we just always sit next to each other in every video?"

"Sure thing, honey."

Courtney tiptoed away again.

Amanda was genuinely moved. What a cute thing to request. She smiled and chuckled inwardly. She fondly remembered Angela clinging on to her, eyes closed as she loudly guessed the answers in a gaming video. She remembered snuggling on the couch together while Shayne read Reddit stories. And when they had fake-kissed in the Love is Blind episode. She swallowed, but kept smiling and just took a deep breath. Yeah, all better. You're not supposed to fall in love with your soulmate co-worker best friend. But then again this was Smosh.

Amanda continued to make coffee. It was Ian's "my favorite coffee" and it was delicious. She just took a sip, when Angela entered the room. She was beautiful in a black sweater and baggy jeans. She greeted Courtney and Ian and Tommy and Spencer, who also had just gotten there. But all the while, she looked at Amanda, smiling back at her.

"Amanda! How was your weekend?"

Amanda put her coffee on the counter and hugged Angela.

"It was great, I went to the beach with my sister."

"Your hair still smells like the sea."

"What, like rotting seaweed?"

"No! I mean like a... a fresh sea breeze."

"You're cute. What did you do?"

"I just slept. Gotta save my strength for this week, right!"

"Oh, sleep is the best thing to do on the weekends! Nothing beats it, really."

Amanda went to make coffee for Angela. When she gave her a cup, she decided to tell her she knew.

"So, you requested we sit next to each other, huh?"

"What? I, uh, I don't know! Maybe?"

Angela blushed.

"Ow!"

She had spilled some of her coffee.

"Oh nooo you just got your arm out of the sling! Be careful, babe!"

"Okay, I guess I'll put my hand under the faucet now," Angela grumbled, still blushing.

"It's just, I want to be the one next to you. If you sit next to someone else, I get kinda jealous? I know, it's weird. But yeah. I love it when you sit next to me."

"Ang! That's so cute I can't deal. Don't worry, I've doubled down your request to Courtney. From now on, we sit together, always!"

"Really? You don't find it weird?"

"Not weirder than I already think you are, you little freak!"

"Bob's Burgers" Season 5 Episode Ranking Rewatch (Long Post)

So, I've been rewatching "Bob's Burgers" from the beginning and ranking the episodes using the spreadsheet that @babsvibes created! If you want to know why I'm doing this or how I view the 1-5 rating scale, you can check out my Season 1 post! If you want to check out any of the other seasons, I've been using the "bob's burgers episode ranking rewatch" tag for all of them.

Now, on to Season 5:

Season as a whole thoughts:

I'm so amused by how similar this season's average score was to Season 4- it's only .02 less than Season 4 (the current leader)! This certainly goes along with one of my main thoughts about "Bob's Burgers", and one the things that lead to me doing this rewatch: that it has been a really consistently good show. This was just another consistently funny season.

In the first couple of seasons, I mentioned my memories of watching the show as it was new and my growth as a fan. Here's my fandom memory tied to Season 5. This was during the time that Loren Bouchard and the case were going around doing Bob's Burgers Live" performances in theaters across the country- and I was lucky enough to see them at the Chicago Theatre on March 20, 2015 (I found an email about it. I don't have the date memorized!) And that might play into the rankings for two episodes in this season and one next season. At that event, they showed a completed clip of the then-unaired "Eat, Spray, Linda", an early animatic clip of "The Hauntening", and did a partial table-read of "Housetrap". So, those three episodes would probably always be 5s in my book just for that special memory. (Although, I also think they are really great episodes!)

Some thoughts on specific episodes (and feel free to ask if you want my thoughts on an episode I didn't comment on):

"Work Hard or Die Trying, Girl": Such a fun episode! So many great songs! But what it really made me appreciate this time was Courtney's character, and the development of her relationship with Gene. It would've been so easy for them to have just made her a one-shot character, or to have kept her as being his annoying ex, like she was in the first half of this story, but the end of this episode really marks the beginning of them being friends- and I like that they went in that direction! I think Gene kind of gets the short end of the stick when it comes to friendship- we rarely see him just hanging out with his friends like Tina and her group or Louise with Rudy and the Pesto Twins. But I think his relationship with Courtney is a sweet one that I have been underrating.

"Tina and the Real Ghost": One of my favorite Halloween episodes- I love that it's so offbeat for a Halloween episode. It's not about costumes or trick or treating or frights-yeah, it's a ghost story but the ghost is a pretty obvious joke and (as Tina points out at the end) it's really a way to tell us about the characters and their wants/needs. The scene in the butterfly garden will always crack me up. And I have a cousin named Jeff, so I love Louise saying it was the dumbest name she could think of for a ghost.

"Friends With Burger-fits": If you ask me what the most important episode for Rudy's character development is, my answer wouldn't be "Carpe Museum" or "Bridge Over Troubled Rudy" or "The Amazing Rudy"- it would be this episode, where we learn that he wants to be the bad boy of public radio like Elvis Mitchell. (I don't know if I am joking or not at this point.)

"Dawn of the Peck": Barely edges out "Turkey in a Can" as my favorite T-Day episode because I love Rudy and Mickey and I love the idea of them having T-Day dinner with the Belchers at the end.

"Midday Run": One of the sleeper hits of this season- I always forget how fun this one is! Just a great, fun school storyline! We learn more about Zeke and get the first reference to his crush on Tina. Rudy plays an interesting role in this episode as Tina's sidekick (and I think it's interesting that in "Fingers-loose", the next episode to focus on Tina as a hall monitor, Rudy doesn't appear to be one any more). Also, how come the fact the Bob's seen Edith naked doesn't come up more often? It just seems like it should.

"Speakeasy Rider": Another sleeper hit! I basically forgot about the existence of this episode, but it is fantastic! A great Tina and Louise in conflict plot! The introduction of Sasha! The One Eyed Snakes are back! Gus has a big role (how frickin' great is Gus?!?! I love him!) So much good stuff!

"Late Afternoon in the Garden of Bob and Louise": This is a mixed review 3. There are some things I really love in this episode. "Happy Place, Crappy Place" is a banger. Bob is so cute in his English lady garden hat, talking to his plants. And the scene where Bob and Louise make up is a classic. But I'm not a huge fan of the standard Logan and Louise dynamic of trading insults and antagonizing each other- and this episode has a LOT of that. So, this episode isn't really my jam. (But I know that a lot of other people love that dynamic and love this episode, and that's awesome! As the spreadsheet says, these are just my Personal Rankings, I don't claim to be putting out objective universal truths here.)

"Can't Buy Me Math": I love the way both storylines end in this one! The bowling alley scene is hilarious, and I love Bob stripping for Linda. One of my favorite aspects of Bob and Linda's relationship is that they are both pretty average looking people (I definitely have a Bob Belcher-esque body myself) but they clearly find each other hot as fuck, and the striptease scene really epitomizes that. One of the best Boblin moments!

"Adventures in Chinchilla-sitting": A great "the kids and their friends have an adventure!" episode, and a I love those. A particular highlight of this one: Gene's jokes at Tammy's expense. "We get it, you have email!" and "You're in 8th grade? I thought you were someone's mom!" I love how all the Belcher kids zing Tammy in their own, unique style. Also, "IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII wish my radio worked!"

"Housetrap": One joke I really remember cracking me up when seeing the tableread at "Bob's Burgers Live" was Linda's line about the clocks: "Spooky. They all stopped at 3:13. Oh, wait, they all moved." Not sure why that amuses me so much, but it does!

"Hawk & Chick": I actually posted when I was rewatching this one, but man, this is a fantastic episode! I honestly think it might be a top 10 or 15 episode for me. I knew it was a good, emotional Louise and Bob episode but I forgot how funny it was- Gene in particular has some good lines throughout! And I love Koji! There is just something really sweet and joyful about him; I hope they come up with a reason to bring him back for a third time!

Random Thoughts (stuff that doesn't affect the ratings):

If I thought of any random thoughts while rewatching this season, I don't remember them! So here are some memories of seeing "Bob's Burgers Live" at the Chicago Theatre:

Each of the cast members did a little standup set. I can remember a little bit from all of them except Eugene Mirman, although I do remember that he did some of the same bits from the Netflix special he had at the time ("Vegan on his Way to the Complain Store").

A Dan Mintz joke: "When I was a kid, I would always ask my parents 'who's your favorite kid?' And they would tell me 'we don't have a favorite kid' And that hurt my feelings because I was an only child."

John Roberts sang a song about how people like Linda more than him.

H. Jon Benjamin did a seemingly improvised bit holding a Walgreens bag containing a home drug test for cocaine that you can buy there.

Kristen Schaal did a bit that was, in part, a one woman show about Emily Dickinson. She also joked about attending Northwestern University in Chicago (along the lines of "So if you saw a weird girl mumbling to herself on the L back in 1998, that was me! You missed out on all this!")

There was an audience question part at the end and someone asked the cast if they would help him propose to his girlfriend. Which they not only did, but improvised a little skit about! I cannot remember the whole premise of it, but I do remember a bit where Eugene and Kristen were playing friends of the guy and girl respectively and were making fake small talk with them. Eugene to the guy: "Soooo....sports?" Kristen to the girl: "Soooo...bras?"

Favorite Trio

This is SUCH a hard question for me to answer😭 td characters have the potential to bounce off of eachother for infinity and its great.

starting with real stuff for real thats in the show with a real dynamic, i have to give the prize to Gwen, Heather, and Courtney. Team amazon is great and the way they play off eachother is soFUNNYYY OKAY... Gwen and Heather being established enemies making gwen do the unthinkable of teaming up with a prep to get rid of her. hilarious. heather hating how close theyve gotten because it makes them forget about the challenges but not being able to do anything about it because she cant be too awful or else she'll get kicked off.. its so good. they ruin eachother make eachother worse etc etc

referring to trios that were literally in 1 scene that im unhealthily attached to i LOVEEE Leshawna gwen and bridgette. they were in 1 scene in basic straining but it doesnt stop them from being in my head 100 times and dying of peak fiction and doing family guy death pose. Two people who are kinda bffsies with everyone while having very different levels of confrontation then theres gwen whos a weird stray cat who likes no one but gets along with them... cute. OKtheyre so cute. besties for the resties etc etc.

Then theres trios that exist in canon but are bad in canon and only good in my head. talking about duncan courtney and gwen. AUGH. ok. this ask is making me tell the entire internet im a world tour head 100 times in a row. I think they play off eachother in such a funny way. The first ep of wt was so insane for pairing them up and its basically the only part of the series that did them right... SHAMEEEE. gwen is generally disgusted by duncan and courtneys weird constant pda and they both make fun of her for being weird and annoying and single. Its funny. this mostly only works when duncan and courtney are dating, otherwise its not as funny. all platonic gwen duncan courtney trio makes me kinda roll my eyes, just like gwen when duncan and courtney are being awful since theyre awful literally constantly

finally theres made everything up about them in my head trios GWEN COURTNEY AND BRIDGETTE HIIIII. I LOVE YOU. this is my own fault. I made them friends in my head and i cannot separate them ever. Its kinda like leshawna bridgette and gwen except you replace the very there for her friends nice and cool and awesome girl with the most uptight asshole I-can-fix-them girl on the planet. i need to work on my fanfiction more NOOOO COME BACK TO ME. they jusstttt, remind me of my highschool trio friendgroup. i steal 100 things from when i was in highschool and insert them into ppp.

Because of my lack of interaction with the fandom, I was mostly oblivious to what the prevailing opinions were regarding various aspects of the show, so it was kinda cool having people catch me up on all the discourse as I was live blogging my rewatch journey.

For example, I had NO idea who Gwanon was until I started doing my Total Drama Rewatch posts. For those who don’t know, Gwanon is a person who, as the name suggests, is a Gwen stan that sends incendiary anon asks to people that are either Duncan x Courtney shippers, or just fans of Courtney in general, and what makes my interaction with this person extra hilarious is that they sent me an ask while I was watching season 2 that insinuated I didn’t like Gwen after season 1, despite me never saying anything of the sort and being very vocal about how Gwen was and still is one of my favorite characters in the entire series. And after I called that out, Gwanon started sending me links to other people’s posts telling me how terrible they are, and… I’m sorry I just find that hysterical.

First you mistake me for someone that hates your favorite character, then when you realize that you fucked up, you then think that I’m as weirdly obsessed and defensive about her as you are, and try to send me other people’s posts in what I can only assume is an attempt to get me to sympathize with you or join your one-sided crusade. What reaction can I possibly have to that other than laughter???

hey so after reading through your entire ao3 account i just have to tell you that you’re hands down one of the most moving writers i’ve read in a long long time?? i guess i was just wondering what kinds of things influence your writing style and if you have any favorite books you’d recommend!! basically your prose is incredible and i would absolutely eat up more of it/anything like it

i don't necessarily know that there are writers who i feel like i'm emulating with my prose/writing style, or who i feel are similar to me. it's kind of hard to see that stuff with your own work, maybe? BUT i will absolutely ramble about some of my fave authors/books that i think everyone should read

i do think my stuff is influenced by the fact that i have read a lot of children's fiction - i studied children's lit a fair bit at uni and it's what i wrote my undergrad dissertation about. and while i know adults read/enjoy my work as well as teens, i think i take a fair bit from the children's/YA world in terms of writing about big/intense topics but gently

one of my fave children's authors and authors in general is frances hardinge. she is just...christ. her imagination, her world-building, her characters. one of the best things a book can do imo is take you to a really dark place and then back out of it with equal conviction, and the lie tree is one of the best examples i've seen of that. and i think about a face like glass and its worldbuilding constantly, and a skinful of shadows has the sickest premise on earth and absolutely delivers on it

i do also read a lot of short stories! they are underrated imo and very much their own artform. in the fic world if you lean towards oneshots/shorter works like mine then i'd recommend trying them out! i will say my taste in short stories tends to lean towards the weird and unsettling...like mouthful of birds by samanta schweblin, how to gut a fish by sheila armstrong, salt slow by julia armfield, eyes guts throat bones by moira fowley-doyle

hmmm people have previously commented on my writing being quite introspective and grounded, more about people feeling things than about plot, and my favourite book along those lines is very cold people by sarah manguso. it's so vivid and emotive and well-told. i have recced it to several people by being like listen nothing happens in this book and also it slaps.

i try to infuse my writing with a sense of compassion, and authors who do this really well imo are becky chambers, a long way to a small angry planet especially, and martha wells with murderbot, too.

uhhh these next ones i don't think i can draw even a tenuous connection with my own writing, but i think they're so good and everyone should read them. the mercies and the dance tree by kiran millwood hargrave are gorgeous and devastating. so is idaho by emily ruskovich, one of those books that's too good for me to even really talk about it coherently. piranesi by susanna clarke also - too good, can't say anything about it. courtney summers writes with uncomprising vivid rage, and i come back to her work often because of it: the project and sadie are my biggest recs, though maybe look up content warnings for sadie first because it's...a lot. actually lots of the ones in this paragraph have some very heavy subject matter so read with caution/possibly look up warnings first
