It’d be wise to listen, the ashen lord had always been quick to notice the flickering of swift movement alongside the shadows that looked slightly different as a pirate and he’d be no different now that he’d been reduced to skeletal remains, despite the fact that he’s still been getting used to the skull that replaced his own.

“No, of course not my master!-…I cherish the purpose and the second chance you’ve given me!”, Stitcher Jim stammered, turning away from the ashen sovereign’s gaze as he desperately tried to think of a response that might’ve smoothed his previous words things over. “I meant that I thought I’d remain a person, master-…I thought I’d keep pieces of what used to be my life, I was only unsure if that was the case”, Stitcher Jim explained, nervously chuckling whilst the glistening glow of the crystallized heart within his ribcage and the crystals across his ashen arm faltered briefly.

Turning towards the ashen sovereign after he’d nervously looked away, the ashen lord stared down at the ashen sovereign for the first time after he’d died protecting the skeletal lord’s remains. “I’d never be ungrateful for the gift that you’ve given me, master”

     What a pity. Another soul lost in the Sea trying to cling to something, anything to give them greater purpose. What a sad thing to have a desire to be a person, implying humanity and the confinement of flesh.      Alas, any who pledge themselves to the war-raging skeleton lord lose their life -- their claim to having it. They become puppets, weapons to be used by him and only him. They belong to the King.

     “ Is the purpose I so graciously gifted you something you are having second thoughts about? ” There is amusement to the low tone despite the harshness of the words being delivered. The stare of fiery sockets, daring for the words to be built upon -- to be explained. It could be easily taken back ; power given to those who crave his praise and attention.       “ How ungrateful. ”

I have been recently thinking about the endings of Elden Ring and the fact that we have to burn the Erdtree in all of them.

That leaves us with ash covered Leyndell and one question stayed in my head...

What do you do with all the ash afterwards???

There are like TONS of it! It covers the city so high up, so densely... And really we see only the beginning of it. The Erdtree isn't done burning yet after all.

Doesn't that leave us with horrendous possible repercussions?! Inhaling ash in large amounts is hazardous to say the least and can cause life-long damage... I'm no expert on ash but at least the Erdtree ash may not be as bad as volcanic ash that can be acidic and poisonous to the flora and fauna as well as can contaminate water. Ashes from burned wood are on the other hand often used in composts as they can actually neutralise acidity in the soil.

But there is still so much of it!! How will the people go about cleaning it all up? They would probably need masks to protect themselves from inhaling it. Also where the hell would you dump it all? Especially that god knows how long the ash will be still falling down as the Erdtree burns. Would the ashes of the Erdtree have any weird attributes, effects?

I'm really curious what are your thoughts of the possible ways of dealing with the ash after certain endings... How would you, as the new lord responsible for the Lands Between, go about dealing with it?

Ashen Capital. 😭

Wow, I mean, I knew it was called that but I did not expect the sheer AMOUNT of ash at the Ashen Capital. And like I posted earlier, I was immediately thinking, OH NO the Omen. They have it bad enough in the Shunning Grounds, they don't need to be buried under 8 million pounds of ash also.

Fortunately, this grate came up so I guess they can maybe get out. Somehow. Or maybe someone was planning to get them out? I don't know.

Holy ashes, Batman.

Someone also pointed out to me that there is ash in the capital when you visit before, too. The doors have all been sealed to keep it out. I had thought that was sand; I'm not sure why. But this means that the Erdtree has burned before we came along. Was it Bernahl who burned it? We know his maiden burned, and he's in Farum Azula. But then how did he get past Morgott? Was Morgott like "You hunt Tarnished too, you're ok?"

Does anyone know or have a guess?

I love the Nox Swordstress set. ❤️ It looks snazzy with the war surgeon's mask, too, which I wear when I want to take advantage of the Bloodhound's Fang's bleed damage.

Then I fought Sir Gideon Ofnir, who doesn't get his picture in here because he is a dick. At first I was like, maybe he doesn't want a Tarnished on the throne because no one should have that kind of power, but nah, he just thinks we're not good enough? Fuck that noise. Also how does he explain Godfrey, who has already been Elden Lord, and is Tarnished?

Anyway, he deserves to have raspberries blown in his direction for directly benefitting from all my hard work and then trying to kill me. Asshole.

I also deserve raspberries because I somehow did not get pics of Godfrey/Hoarah Loux even though it took me like five hours to beat him.

Shame on me.

Some thoughts I had on Godfrey:

- I think it's fun that he does the same storm/stomp thing that Godrick CLEARLY inherited from him, hehe. Godrick never met Godfrey, and yet he emulates him in this way. I was grinning, like "I recognize that attack!"

- I love barbarians/berserkers/big sword guys and tend to always play them in games. But I think I took forget how romanticized they are, because -

- Hoarah Loux is fucking terrifying. Drenched in blood? And he attacks you with his bare hands? Holy shit! I never expected he'd come at me in a wrestling stance.

- Hoarah Loux is also the reason this fight took me so long. But -

- His attacks are so fun I couldn't be too mad at him. My favorite is where he throws you in the air like a football spiral-like and then leaps up, grabs you, and body slams you. So fun.

- He doesn't talk shit to you, but rather treats you like a fellow warrior.

- I am SO SORRY about Morgott, Godfrey, you don't even know.

And then FINALLY, I got inside the damned tree.

Being as cautious and careful as an ashen lord holding a fragile bottle could be, the skeletal lord who’d recently been brought back from his purgatory within the sea of damned quickly glance over his shoulder and breathed a sigh of relief after confirming he’d been alone. Pulling the concealed parchment out of the bottle, the skeletal lord began reading the strangely familiar handwriting before freezing within his tracks as he’d read the last line of the letter.

“My Beloved?-…”, Stitcher Jim whispered, rereading the line over and over as the realization of why the handwriting had been so familiar almost hit him as hard as being marooned had. “Is that?-…No, no-…it is, it has to be her-…That’s Wanda”, Stitcher Jim stammered, his skull reeling as he clutched the letter within his hand as the crystals consuming his other arm began flaring. Stuffing the letter into one of his jacket’s pockets, the ashen lord would keep the letter hidden until he’d figured out what to write back to her.

considering gwyn's established pattern of naming his children (gwynevere, gwyndolin... do we perhaps spot a pattern and indeed perhaps some kind of pathology), I've been entertaining myself with coming up with very bad ideas for what the firstborn/nameless king was called originally. so far 'gwynther' might be the winner. 'gwynthur' also up there. please chime in if you have ideas let us cook together
