Choosing the Perfect Black Sherwani for Your Wedding
It's crucial to look your best on your wedding day because it's one of the biggest and most memorable days of your life. While classic looks like suits and tuxedos are still popular choices, many grooms are choosing the stylish and classic black sherwani. The elegance, sophistication, and cultural depth of a black sherwani are palpable. Here is a guide to selecting the ideal black sherwani if you are thinking about wearing this traditional outfit to your wedding.
Tumblr media
Embrace Tradition with a Modern Twist
Understanding the Sherwani
For ages, the sherwani, an Indian traditional garment, has represented beauty and majesty. A long coat, churidars (tightly fitted pants), and a kurta are the usual components (a long tunic). By selecting a black sherwani, you're fusing the traditional with the modern.
Fabric Matters
Choosing the proper fabric is the first step in creating the ideal black sherwani. Use opulent textiles like silk, velvet, or brocade. These materials offer comfort all day long in addition to having an outstanding appearance. Remember that the sherwani's overall appearance and feel can be substantially influenced by the fabric you select.
Tailored to Perfection
Customization is Key
A sherwani that fits perfectly can change the game. Consider getting a custom-made sherwani if off-the-rack choices don't quite fit right. You may make sure it flatters your body shape and offers both comfort and style in this way.
Pay Attention to Details
Your black sherwani can appear better with little finishing touches like embroidery, buttons, and collar design. A hint of grandeur is added through the use of elaborate patterns, gold or silver embroidery, and superb craftsmanship. But keep in mind that sometimes, less really is more. The right level of opulence and elegance.
Accessorize Thoughtfully
Matching Accessories
Adding accessories is essential to completing your black sherwani look. Choose coordinating turbans, traditional mojari (shoes), and stoles or shawls as your accessories. These accessories not only improve your appearance, but they also provide your clothing cultural context.
Minimalistic Approach
While accessorising is important, take care not to overdo it. A more refined and elegant appearance can be achieved by taking a minimalistic approach and concentrating on high-quality components.
Comfort and Mobility
Comfort and mobility are crucial because your wedding day will be long and filled with activities. Make sure the sherwani doesn't impede your mobility and that you can move around easily in it. When deciding on the fabric and weight of your sherwani, also take the weather and the occasion into account.
Final Fittings and Trials
Make sure your mens black sherwani uk fits well by scheduling final fittings and trials before the big day. This is your final opportunity to make any required changes so that you appear flawless on your wedding day.
Conclusion
Sonas Couture's ideal black sherwani choice for your asian wedding dresses is important because it determines the overall theme of your outfit. Accept tradition with a contemporary spin, pay attention to materials and tailoring, attentively choose your accessories, put comfort and mobility first, and make sure the final fittings are perfect. When you wear the ideal black sherwani, you'll not only look magnificent but also feel self-assured and patriotic as you start your wonderful marriage adventure.
Remember, your wedding day is a celebration of love, and your attire should reflect the joy and significance of the occasion. A well-chosen black sherwani will undoubtedly make you the dashing groom everyone admires.
So go ahead and create a statement on your wedding day by wearing the ideal black sherwani.

Mackenzie Arnold x reader
-> Reader and Macca's daughter watch her win 8-0, even if it is way too early
➳ Masterlist
•─────⋅☾ ☽⋅─────•
Watching your wife play for her country would never bore you, not even when it was an 8 – 0 win and you barely get to see her on the screen. Your daughter, however, was bored. Isla had woken up bright and early as it was a Sunday.
While you would travel the world for Mackenzie and her games, pulling Isla out of school was difficult, so you stayed home for the Asian Olympic Qualifiers – watching from home as well as you could. Kick-off was at 07:10 in the morning for the two of you in the UK, but the small blonde in your lap was Macca's good luck charm, so a short phone call before was mandatory.
It was six in the morning when Isla started jumping on your bed. “Wake up! Wake up! Game time! Mo- Ahhh!” you had snatched her out of the air, cuddling her close to you. “Game time later baby, give your mommy some cuddles.” With all her might the brunette girl wrangled herself out of your hold, sitting herself down on your chest. “Call Mama?” With a defeated sigh you grabbed your phone from the bedside table, knowing that your daughter would not give in until she had talked to her mom. “Here baby, you call her.”
The five-year-old knew just enough about phones, to know where she could call your wife and put it on speaker. Today the young girl decides to go for a Facetime tough at six in the morning – how nice. Especially when you had barely gotten any sleep, worrying about your wife.
It rang a couple of times before Mackenzie picked up, being greeted by her daughter’s face, way too close to the camera. “Good morning Bubba! How’d ya sleep?” Excited noises left Isla’s lips as she saw her mom on a dark bus, she had pulled the curtains by her seat close, trying to concentrate. “Good Mama! You?”
“I slept well babe, where is mommy?” Your child threw the phone at you before she slipped under the blanket, joining you in the warmth of it. “Oh, now you wanna cuddle, hmm?” Mackenzie watched with a fond smile as her carbon copy cuddled into your chest, with you holding the phone now, being able to see everything.
“Hi, beautiful.” She would never get tired of how blushy you got, whenever she complimented you in such a vulnerable state – even after six years of marriage and a child. “Hi, baby. How are you?”
With Isla nearly falling asleep on you, Macca and you quietly talked until the bus arrived at the stadium “Isla? Baby? I have to go now. Mama loves you, have fun!” A tired wave at the camera was all that she got, blowing you a kiss as well.
After making coffee and cleaning up a little you pulled Isla to the couch, wrapping both of you in blankets and handing her a breakfast sandwich. “Is Mama going to play?” Just seconds later they showed the Tillies in the tunnel, Mackenzie in pink, a little girl holding her hand.
“Oi! That’s my Mama!” You could not help but burst with laughter, the little girl appalled to see someone else holding her mother’s hand. “That is her Mascot baby. You were one as well, do you remember?”
Isla had been a mascot plenty of times, for her mother, Sam, Steph, Caitlin, Alanna, and even Courtney when she had joined Leicester City.
After the two of you had marveled at the dress the singer of the Philippines national anthem was wearing, it was time for the Australian anthem. As fast as she could Isla was out of the blankets, standing with a hand on her heart, belting the anthem with the singer on the TV. Sneakily you took a video of it, immediately sending it to Mackenzie who was laughing next to Sam, behind the singer.
“Look there’s Auntie Lani! Oh and Stephy, And Cait!” The young girl could not help herself, stopping her singing and waving at her aunties instead.
The stadium was filled, and your eyes could not help but tear up a little, seeing your wife stand there, making her country and family proud in front of so many people. “Where’s Mama?” Isla was now back at your side as she tried to find her mother’s pink kit in the colorful mix. But Mackenzie was nowhere to be seen as the rest of the Matilda’s tried to take the team picture, looking for her as well. The commentator explained that she had gone to warm up in goal, forgetting the picture - but she sprinted back just in time.
Seconds before kick-off Isla sprinted off to her room, returning with bright blue hair ribbons and a hairbrush, wordlessly gesturing you to style her hair just like Raso’s. Once you were done you also sent a picture of that to your wife, knowing that she would show the girls everything that Isla did.
Caitlin’s first shot on goal was saved by the keeper, Isla next to you restless in her seat. And just a few minutes later the Philippines had a long shot at goal, your daughter jumping up and down. “Get up Mama!” Mackenzie had fallen on her way to save the ball, but luckily it did not meet the back of the net.
It was Mary Fowler who put the Matilda’s in front with a gorgeous goal in the 14th minute. That first goal set off a series of goals and by the end of the first half, the Matilda’s were leading with five goals.
Isla however had dozed off as her excitement had lessened during the game. While she loved all of her aunties with all her heart, she was only watching for one person. Her Mama. But with such a lead and the Philippines’ not being a real threat Mackenzie was barely seen. Once or twice, she collected a loose ball, sending it back but otherwise, it was an entirely calm game for the goalkeeper. The second half brought three more goals and a hat trick for both Sam and Caitlin.
With nothing else to do in the day you decided, to let the young girl sleep until Macca called, which was three hours later. She was back in the Team hotel, freshly showered and alone in her room. “There she is! My beautiful wife!” As expected, you blushed, hiding your face in a blanket on the couch.
Isla apparently heard your phone ring, as she burst into the room, now fully awake. “Mama, you won!” Your wife could barely contain herself at the cute smile her daughter gave her – a smile that reminded her so much of you it was scary. “I did, Baby! Did you watch me?”
Isla’s hair was a mess, the ribbon had nearly fallen out by this point. She had always been an aggressive sleeper. “I did, but I got bored.” Mackenzie could not help but laugh at the carelessness in her daughter’s voice. “Little Miss was asleep before halftime, huh?”
“Huh! How mean of you! Such a mean Mommy didn’t even wake you up.” The small brunette that was jumping in her seat rolled her little eyes at her mother’s sarcasm, well accustomed to it by now.
“You fell when the ball got to you, Mama.” Mackenzie was flabbergasted “So you fall asleep but that’s what you see?” The two of them bantered back and forth in true mother-daughter fashion, but you couldn’t help but admire them.
And you were so happy to have them, so much fun in a home that you loved.

Let's talk about Desi representation again!!
I don't talk about this stuff often but when I do, I have some strong ass opinions
and yes I'm gonna be talking about none other than Pavitr Prabhakar at the end cuz he's just special to me <3
Hollywood is lagging behind on Desi representation
You'd think one of the biggest film industries in the world would be able to represent us properly, considering the fact that we make up the largest group of South-Asian Americans and the second largest group of Asian-Americans in the US, but instead-
Western Television forces Indians to conform to harmful stereotypes
Some of the most popular Desi characters on screen are Raj Koothrappali from the Big Bang Theory, Devi Vishwakumar from Never Have I Ever and Kelly Kapoor from the Office.
Indian men are almost always portrayed as robotics engineers and computer whizzes, but with terrible social intellect, making them seem like awkward nerds.
Indian women are almost always portrayed as "whitewashed", or wanting to appear more western, with zero understanding of their own culture or language along with an unrelenting need for attention from white friends/colleagues.
These are both based on stereotypes that Indian culture is "toxic" and "too traditional" and that Indians are only interested in studies.
Most Desi characters in western media have stories that are solely based around their ethnicity and/or racial stereotypes.
British television actually showcases a lot more representation than Hollywood does
I was watching Polite Society, a movie starring two Pakistani characters as the main leads, and there was a dance scene where both the leads are wearing traditional desi attire. My mom turned over, looked at me, and asked, "Is this Hollywood? It can't be."
And she was right. It's a British movie with British-Pakistani actors.
The reason she didn't believe that it could've been Hollywood was because the dresses the two leads were wearing were traditional and beautiful and the song playing in the background was authentic Hindi music, not some random westernized DJ version of it.
A Hollywood movie would've never dressed up their Desi actors in actually flattering attire (*cough cough the Patel twins from Harry Potter) or have used real, popular Desi music in the background.
You see my point?
It is so uncommon to see well-thought-out Desi representation in TV nowadays, where to see real diversity we have to watch movies made by the same country that colonized us.
Ironic.
British movies/shows with desi leads have far better South Asian representation than anything I've seen in Hollywood recently.
The Hollywood movies starring Indian leads, like Slumdog Millionaire or Bend it like Beckham were filmed in the UK, and because they were filmed in the UK, they had fantastic South Asian representation.
Not only does Hollywood refuse to create shows and movies about real problems that South Asians face, but they also don't cast South Asian actors in good roles.
When's the last time you saw a South Asian actor playing a character that wasn't a walking stereotype? When's the last time you saw a South Asian actor playing a character that was a genuine part of the story rather than just comedic relief or a random smart kid in the classroom?
Not often, right?
Me, personally, I didn't grow up with a lot of South Asian characters or actors in shows/movies that I watched. In fact, every time someone even close to my skin color showed up on TV, I was on the edge of my seat because it was just so rare to see it.
This is why representation matters.
You've heard about all the young girls with braids being so excited when the new little mermaid with Halle Bailey came out. Well, us desi kids wanted that too.
I wanted to see a Telugu speaking girl with wavy hair and dark skin who would wear traditional clothing to Desi get-togethers and parties, go to the temple with her family, eat vegetarian Indian meals, etc...
I wanted to see a character who was a representation of me and my experiences as an Indian-American. I wanted to see a character that was at least a representation of Indians or just South Asians in general.
Instead, we were given characters that ridiculed their own culture, were extreme stereotypes and furthered the existence of casual racism in western society today. So many Desi kids experience small acts of racism on a daily basis because people have been so desensitized to the existence of these stereotypes.
Telling South Asians that their culture is a joke and feeding non-asian children media which pokes fun at other cultures is harmful, not only to us South Asians but also communities that could end up being targeted next.
Pavitr Prabhakar; Representation Matters
If you've been following me or if we're mutuals, you probably know I have a tiny obsession with Pavitr Prabhakar. But why?
Because of all the reasons I just listed.
There are few South Asian characters us Desis can look up to these days, and Pavitr Prabhakar is one of the maybe two or three characters who have great writing, magnificent representation, and overall a fun vibe.
He's likable, funny, smart and best of all, unapologetically Desi.
He's just like all the other side characters, with a little bit of his own culture mixed in. He's not being shoved down our throats to further an agenda about fake diversity, he's not a walking stereotype and best of all, he was designed by Indian creators.
He's refreshing and exciting to follow in a world full of a demand for half-hearted representations and the people who created him were obviously putting their hearts and souls into it.
He's awoken a love for Indian culture amongst, not only Desi children themselves but also among westerners who, prior to this, had thought of India as a "3rd world" country, because that's the agenda that Hollywood pushes onto many South Asian countries today.
WE LOVE PAVITR PRABHAKAR!!
This was kinda all over the place but I just had to get this off my chest <3

So…one of my favourite headcanons is that the Potter family are Indian. (Those of you who’ve read my Grindeldore/Wolfstar dancer fic might recall that Fleamont Potter, James’ father and the UK Prime Minister, is Indian in that. Funnily enough, our real life Prime Minister is a British Indian Hindu who became PM last year. On Diwali. Yeah, that was an…interesting day in the family. Still not entirely sure how I feel about it.)
Anyway - here are some headcanons about James Potter being Indian, some of which are based around how I actually grew up. (Note: there will probably be more as I think of them!):
When Holi comes around, James wakes the others up by pelting them with coloured powder. He does it every year and every year they fall for it. They also pelt everyone with coloured powder throughout the holiday. It took weeks for the paint to be cleaned fully. (Some people suspected Dumbledore deliberately let it stay like that because he liked the colours.)
Sirius got really angry the first time he heard someone call James a Paki. He doesn’t know what it means, but he never wants to see that look on James’ face again. He absolutely lost it when James told him what it meant. (For those of you who don’t know what it means, it’s an incredibly racist slur towards south Asians; along similar lines of using the n-word to a black person. This is also why James gets so angry whenever anyone uses the word Mudblood - because he knows how that shit feels.)
Sirius helps James create magical rangoli patterns during Diwali. They also take over the kitchen for an evening trying to make Indian sweets. The results are mixed-looking, but they all taste good, and the house elves get some great new dishes.
Every time a festival falls on a full moon, they always celebrate a few days after so Remus can join in. (He hugely appreciates the sweets.)
James initially wasn’t thrilled that his Animagus form is a stag, since a deer is the form one of the bad guys took in the Ramayana when he triggered the events that led to Rama’s wife being kidnapped.
When James’ father died, he had a traditional Hindu funeral. Traditionally, the eldest son leads the proceedings, but when James broke down, Sirius stepped in to continue. In that moment, James loved Sirius more than he could put into words.
James also taught the Marauders some Hindi so they could talk privately, as well as some Indian magic.
James, Lily and Sirius actually go to india for their wedding outfits. Lily also has magical mendhi patterns done by James’ aunts and cousins. James also had to gently explain to Lily that wearing white is associated with funerals.
Petunia showed up to James and Lily’s wedding in a white dress to try and upstage the bride. She’s very confused to realise a) Lily is not wearing white, and b) a lot of James’ relatives are looking at her weirdly, because she’s wearing a funeral colour.
At James and Lily’s engagement party, James’ aunties kept trying to set Sirius up with their daughters and teasing him about getting married. They shut up when Sirius snogged Remus in front of everyone. James wasn’t even mad that his engagement was briefly upstaged.
James has a book of Indian tales and legends passed down from his father. He read them to Harry at bedtime. Lily would smile and watch from the doorway. He also taught his friends some classic Indian songs to sing to Harry.
Every year on Raksha Bandhan, James ties a rakhi on Sirius’ wrist and charms them so they’ll never come undone. One night, Sirius noticed the threads of one of them coming loose. That night was October 31st, 1981.

I'm being serious what exactly has JK Rowling ever said that was so bad as to warrant such insane backlash. Have you ever actually looked into it for yourself firsthand or are you just following orders
Have you seen her actively supporting transphobes. Have you seen her calling her ONLY chinese character Cho Chang, two last names from different Asian countries smashed together. Have you seen her pushing for transphobic legislation in the UK (and succeeding!) Have you seen her name her only adult black character Kingsley Shacklebolt. Have you seen her create her lycanthropy parallel to AIDS and then demonize werewolves. Have you seen her called her indian wizards Padma and Parvati Patili, which are the most generic names ever. For that matter, have you seen her only Irish character is Seamus Finnegan and has two personality traits: wanting to turn things into alcohol and blowing things up. Have you seen her responding to a post of “are jewish wizards in Hogwarts” with the name of one guy that maybe is mentioned once in the entire series. Have you seen the part where Hermione say “maybe we Shouldn’t keep slaves” and is actively mocked and dismissed for that. Have you seen her goblin bankers which are short, bald, ugly, hook-nosed, and control the entire financial world of Hogwarts, which is hitting every single antisemite stereotype off a bulleted list. Have you seen her worldbuilding create the game Hogwarts Legacy, which is all about suppressing the goblins for daring to want equal rights with wizards, and stealing wizard children for their blood—Literally the blood libel. Have you seen the goblin heads mounted on walls, and them being called uncultured. Have you seen many of their “cultural artifacts” in fact being Jewish artifacts. Have you seen the first thing the player can say to an African character is “I thought their magic was weaker”. Have you seen that African wizards use their hands instead of wands. Have you seen the books where Rowling creates a killer that dresses as a woman. Have you seen the book where Rowling creates a villain with fibromyalgia that attacks the main character for her conservative beliefs.
Because I have.

Empires Arknights AU - Scott fWhip
Is it an excuse to ramble about one of my favourite games? Maybeeeee… {: <3<3<3
Slightly lore-dumpy explanation of stuff (can probably be skipped):
Arknights - tower defence gatcha
Lungmen - mobile, modern Chinese/Japanesee style city
Liberi - bird people {reference}
Lung - asian style dragon {reference} people as oposed to draco {reference}
Ægir - fish people {reference}
Leithanien - Arknights Germany
Victoria - Arknights UK
Wei - leader of Lungmen
Lin's - old Lin, or Rat King is kinda the godfather of Lungmen underworld, his {granddaughter} is to take over after him
Penguin Logistics - a logistics company with an actual penguin for a boss
Siracusa - Arknights Italy, full of wolf-people, minus Vatican, that's Laterano, totally separate place with Sankta - angels with guns
L.G.D. - Lungmen Guard Departmen, kind of Lungmen police
Hoshiguma - member of the Special Service of Lungmen Guard Department {reference}
Ch'en - Special Inspection Unit Chief, L.G.D. {reference}
Scott was having a great day. Yes, he spent most of it in his high-rise office. Taking in appointments, and making phone calls. But at least today no one pulled out a gun on him. Just the thought of the few rude 'customers' was enough to have the Liberi's feathers ruffled. With a sigh, he calmed down and glanced at the clock. Nicely made, imported from Leithanien. He had some fond memories of a brief stay there in his youth. Not that it was that long ago.
He was starting to wonder how long he should stay, waiting for his last guest when his door swung open. An angry Lung, dressed in rather traditional Lungmen garb. Ginger hair tied in a long braid. Scott kind of hated it. Blue eyes narrowed in a glare that the Liberi met with a polite smile.
"Punctual as always, Mr fWhip," he greeted with his best 'Victorian', as fWhip called it, smile.
"Don't give me that, why did you send assassins after me this time?" he asked, taking most of the couch opposite of Scot's desk.
"I simply didn't want you to ignore my invitation, unlike the last time I sent one," Scott's smile faltered slightly. fWhip could be damn annoying. Unfortunately, he was Lungmen's best when it came to explosives and Scott's... business often needed them. "Would you like some tea? I recently received a shipment of Victoria's finest," he offered, the legal part of his business was all about trade. Less legal... also imports but of things Mr Wei would approve. Lin's certainly did like him.
"Sure, why not," the Lung huffed. He did keep his eye on Scott as he made the two cups. "You still insist on dressing like a Victorian," he huffed. For some reason, he was really against Scott's suits.
"Well, that's where I'm from after all," Scott shrugged. And Victorian clothes were comfier for him. He did not mention that.
"What did you get me to come here for? And be glad I didn't report you to Madam Ch'en. She's not let you go no matter how much Lin's like you," he huffed. Ever loyal to Wei. How boring.
"Right to the business," Scott shook his head. "Maybe I just wanted to share a cup of tea with a friend?"
fWhip laughed at that. "Yeah right. What do you want?"
Scott sighed. How Lung of fWhip. "I need help locating a certain box for an acquaintance. Miss Ling brought him here so it's kind of important. But relics are not quite my cup of tea, but then I remembered a friend who has a nice collection," he said, giving up on playing with fWhip.
"Acquaintance? Lin Yühsia? Now that's interesting," fWhip mused.
"Mhm. I have no idea where she found an Ægir here," not that it was all that interesting to him.
"Why didn't she just go to Penguin Logistics? I'm sure they could find it easily."
"Maybe she needed some more... finesse?" Scott offered with a giggle. "They are certainly fun but I think the Ægir she dragged here would drop dead after just seeing them," he giggled setting a teacup in front of fWhip. Victorian make, of course, just to annoy him further.
"Maybe, but really... Did it have to be damn Siracusans you send? They're a pain to deal with," fWhip huffed, taking a sip. He said nothing so it had to be good.
"You're still here so not that bad," Scott did not regret sending assassins after fWhip. It always got him to his office. "So how about we leave the box for tomorrow, and spend the rest of today on..." he said as he settled next to fWhip, "...me apologising to you?" he finished, one hand resting on fWhip's thigh.
"Fine, but you have a lot to apologise for, I had to talk to L.G.D.'s  Madam Hoshiguma, I don't want to repeat that anytime soon..." fWhip sighed as he finished his tea. It was always fun to hear him indirectly complain about his height.

Hello Daphne, as a fellow south-Asian Muslim living in the UK, I wonder if you think it is okay to not be modest. I want to go on dates, dress more fittingly, and see men, but i always feel some sort of guilt, as I do consider myself a Muslim, practice is weekly, but have mixed views so I would love to hear your perspective. My parents are very strict on all this so I always had to keep part of my life a secret from them. Additionally I don't even pray daily and I always feel guilt for wanting to live differently to my south asian parent's plans. I would just like to hear your view on that and how you live it in your life, but it is okay if you do not feel comfortable answering because religion is different for everyone. However, it would help to know how someone in the same position as me lives differently to her culture and religion
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am not Muslim so I wasn't fully comfortable giving you an answer. However I asked @withloveheart for her opinions and this is what she said. And I agree with her, I think one should experiment with their beliefs. I think at the end of the day its the relationship between you and your god and it is your own life.
Even-though I am not a Muslim, I have experience in rebelling against my religion and from my experience, I came back with a much healthier relationship. I have been able to find a space for in my life in between the opinions that I have that agrees with my religions and opinions that don't agree. A lot of that comes from trying to understand what religion means to me. As South Asians religion is mutually tied with culture so thats one thing you have to think about when you are thinking about these things.
Regarding the things you don't agree about your religion you need ask yourself why you don't agree with it. Look into what Islam says about modesty and what aspect of it do you not agree with.
The thing about wanting to live a life different from your parent's expectations is a big conversation so if you would like you can dm :)
Daphne
