"Zero percent progress," says Lewis. "I'm not doing it, just like I'm not designing a fucking companionship mode, because he is a state of the art robotic assistant, and not a robot girlfriend."

"At the going price," says Toto, arms crossed, "you could double your revenue by adding a companionship mode."

"He can affect politeness. That's the best I'll do."

Toto throws his hands in the air. "Frankly, I don't understand your hang-ups about AI companionship. It's the done thing now, and your models are the best on the market. You could change the game, if you weren't so--"

"I said no," says Lewis.

Toto lifts an eyebrow. "I suppose your gifts are reserved just for you? Your prototype--" He points in the direction of other robot-Nico, the prototype Lewis is always tinkering with, sitting placidly on a rather avant-garde armchair in the corner of the lab. "--behaves awfully affectionately, don't you think?"

Lewis frowns, assessing proto-Nico's idle seat. The cycle of his breath is so natural Lewis could almost be fooled into thinking he was real, if he didn't feel the swell of pride in his chest at the fact that he made proto-Nico, made him almost as good as the real thing. "He's experimental. Not--not ready for the market."

Toto crosses his arms, assessing. "I'm sure."

the other night i was constantly speechless by the way lil and i interacted while translating. not because we were different in a bad way but guy who took translation theory class (IMPORTANT: NOT AN ACTUAL WORKSHOP) and has Many opinions about written expression vs guy who is actually way more competent in the language being tled and has done it quite a bit, it was like I couldn't stop thinking if someone else were in the room they would want to kill us

i have my Hot Rod figure (or as the box calls him, "Hot Rodimus" lmao) and it's japanese in origin which might explain a certain thing that came in the box

so on the box they label Rod as "Cybertron Cavalier" which is cool, i'm not opposed to this title

but then he gets this little card on the inside that i think is meant to give a basic profile of him and show his stats....and his label on it calls him a "Cybertron Medic"

........

i'm sure this was a mistake on the manufacturer's part, but it's so funny to me

Just a reminder that robots don't want to hurt the environment for profit, but the corporations do.

(Is this just another iteration of class warfare? The AI isn't being compensated fairly for it's labor either.)

So that whole thing where every AI prompt is sickeningly causing environmental damage does not mean you have to hate robots whether they gain sentience or not, you just have to hate the economic infrastructure and profit based ideology.

You can still love cute robots and robot media.

I scroll past those AI generated Google search answers before they can generate, although I have no idea if that does any good.

My phone had a mandatory software update that included AI photo manipulation. (Samsung) If anybody knows how to disable this sort of thing I would love to know about it.
