Title: Asterix contro Cesare (1985)
Vote: 7/10
Good movie in which Asterix crosses the length and breadth of the entire Roman empire in search of a pair of lovers who have been captured by the Romans. During his journey he will be a legionary, a pirate, a slave, a deserter and even a gladiator managing to defeat every enemy and obstacle in his way.

I just rewatched all animated Asterix movies, they are very nostalgic to me and I am sick so I got time to lay arround...
Anyways I made a tier list after having an hour long video review worth of analysis on my head of my opinion on them:
S Tier -
Asterix and Cleopatra
Asterix: The Secret of The Magic Potion
A Tier -
The Twelve Tasks of Asterix
Asterix: The Mansions of the Gods
B Tier -
Asterix the Gaul
C Tier -
Asterix Versus Caesar
Asterix in Britain
D Tier -
Asterix and the Big Fight
Asterix Conquers America
F Tier -
Asterix and the Vikings
If I were to resume it all uh... S ones are just fantastic in general, A are very very close but not quite, B is good but not amazing, C is okay, has some good jokes, but kinda boring, D ones are just boring with maybe one good joke
We don't talk about the one in F.
I refuse to believe such a terrible movie was made to taint that series so badly-

Honestly, I'm really glad you enjoy the Asterix movie. It is a really good movie, and the original comic is good too. (That also makes me wonder : How many volumes are currently realeased worldwide ?)
XD I am enjoying Sailormoonsubs' liveblogging of it because it's one of the Asterix movies I haven't seen yet. (I've seen almost all of the others apart from one or two of the earliest ones when they were.... very weird. The ones from the 60s and 70s).
Asterix Versus Caesar is my favourite one still but I grew up with it so I'm bias.
I don't know about worldwide by my country has had every single Asterix in both English and Afrikaans and have been releasing them since before I was born. Asterix and Tintin are extremely important foundations in my country's children's literary history but I think Asterix is more popular here than Tintin.
However we did have a Tintin store where we haven't had an Asterix store. So I guess it depends.
I've read all of the books except for 2 of the newer ones because they're a little expensive these days. The last one I read was Asterix and the Picts because I wanted to see how the writing would be when Uderzo is no longer writing the stories.
It was better than Uderzo's last few books but it lacked the puns and wasn't as witty as the older stuff, however I preferred the return to historical accuracy stories and I felt that the witty writing would develop over time and I couldn't judge the change of writers in a singular story which is also their very first one.
After all, Spirou has had HOW many writers by now??? and my favourite Spirou writers were Tome and Janry and they weren't the original writer either. And the Mansion of the Gods movie proves you can still have A+ Asterix writing and puns without Uderzo.
Anyway sorry for the long reply. Please have this

Uderzo is legit one of the best comic artists I've ever seen tho. Next time have a look at how the man drew hands. its insane.

Astérix is a character created by René Goscinnyand Albert Uderzo in 1959 for the French comic magazine Pilote. The series' growing success in Pilote got it published into albums soon after.
The year is 50 B.C. Gaul is entirely occupied by the Romans. Well, not entirely... One small village of indomitable Gauls still holds out against the invaders. Said village is the home of Astérix, who frequently goes on all kinds of adventures, often in order to foil the plans of the Romans. He is helped in his adventures by Getafix, the druid of the village who holds the secret of a Super Strength-inducing potion, and most importantly his best friend Obelix, a menhir carver who fell in a cauldron of the aforementioned potion when he was a child, making the effects permanent on him.
Since its creation, Astérix has become a prominent figure in French-Belgian culture, and has managed to acquire fame on an international level, a rare occurrence for a French-Belgian comic character. It has been translated in over a hundred languages, and the comic book series, currently 37 albums long, has been adapted into animated features, live-action movies, video games, theme parks, tabletop games and whatnot. It also notoriously features on mustard glasses.
