Atomhawk – Under Strange Suns
This was absolutely one of my favorite @atomhawk-blog contest entries ever. I absolutely am enamored at how I accomplished the prompt through the clever use of negative space.

This year, I tried to motivate myself for the Atomhawk art competition.
The theme was a bit difficult ( Under Strange suns?! Whut?) but I finally made a little Robinson from the stars, lost on another planet and eager to go back home.
Well, I didn't win, the level was outstanding, and I wasn't really inspired, but hey, at least, I finished in time !

I'm trying for the Atomhawk's competition this year, with the theme: Under Strange Suns. Theme is... difficult (and I really should have start on it earlier), especially since I decided to try the 2D chara design category (because, let's be honest, I may be a bit rusty with environment art) So for the moment, I'm still searching a concept. The first one I have is an astronaut stranded on an alien planet, using part of his salvaged gear and part local product to try and find a way home, buuuuut I'm not convinced yet... --- Bon.

"Lady Lxo'vac's Very Tiring Vacation"⛵☀️
My 2D character entry to this year's Atomhawk art competition, 'Under Strange Suns'. Had a really fun time painting this snooty lady! Next vacation she's DEFINATELY hiring a nanny.

After a week of ideation, sketches, and revisions, my entry for Atomhawk's "Under Strange Suns" character design competition is done. Very happy with what I was able to accomplish, even if I know I have a long ways to go.

The Dormant God
This was my entry for the Atomhawk Art Competition 2023. The brief was "Under Strange Suns" and I figured that was the perfect chance to make a cosmic eldritch entity. I had the idea of making the entity the strange sun itself while it was the host to numerous planetary systems. It's using a sun as a yolk sac, the asteroids mimic eggshells and holds a fetal position all to indicate that it has yet to awaken. It definitely delves into the realm of cosmic horror if you think about how the people on the planets may never see it in its entirety, may see parts of its limbs as part of their sky and what happens when the god finally awakens. But space has always been inherently horrifying.
I learned a lot by making this and it pushed my skills and creativity as well as being a great deal of fun (if a cosmic entity isn't fun to make with an underlying sense of dread, you're probably doing something wrong) so I plan on entering next year as well. Thank you to Atomhawk for being kind enough to host this competition!

My submission for this year's Atomhawk art competition! My idea was a highly adaptable creature that uses its inherent bioluminescence to trick the desperate denizens of the scorched planet into thinking he was the savior that could swallow the second sun that was burning their planet. I was inspired by frogs, tardigrads, and cuttlefish fish :3
I call him the Sun Swallower and he is my precious son <3

Forgotten Creation
Hello everyone!
I decided to participate in the Atomhawk competition this year. This year’s theme is forgotten creation. I had a few ideas asking myself a question: what’s forgotten to me?
- a memory
- a dream
- treehouse after a child grows up ( I grew up in a forested area so I used to see a lot of treehouses/sheds some sort of constructions built from from hazel tree branches probably built by other children)
- project WIP/box full of WIPs (I have a box at home full of different craft projects I did back when I was a kid)
- imaginary world from childhood created during daydreaming
- imaginary friends
- bridges in forests (inspired by Bridge to Terabithia)
- a forgotten music piece depicted as a room (inspired by my synesthesia)
- forgotten MTB tracks or train tracks overgrown by foliage
I decided that I should choose the one that doesn’t involve trees because I’ve been drawing quite a lot of them and with this competition I want to push myself out of my comfort zone more and choose something that’s not so comfortable for me.

I think I might be changing the competition, I really like the theme that atom Hawk have given to the competitors” The forgotten creation” I think this would work with the concept that I have right now

The Adventure Begins 🧭 ⠀⠀ The incredible Sky Castle has made a much-unexpected appearance in the middle of nowhere. To Tessa's and Shanina's luck, this is exactly where they were planning their initial exploration. As newly graduated archeologists, they are very excited about this one in a million opportunity. They are determined to explore the ruins on the flying island which, most of the time, flies disguised in clouds. Thanks to the revolution in the world of aviation, Tessa and Shanina can use Bolide-14 with a trained sky rider to easily travel around. They are enthusiastic and confident about their new destination, but the unknown lies ahead of them and they have to be ready for what they might find up there.⠀
