I've got a lot of comfort media to calm me down, but Smile For Me really evokes something in my heart that I can't explain. It's just!!! So nice and silly and I love it a lot <3

Auctober Day 31: Autistic Pride

Ever since I figured out I was autistic, having pride has been very important to me. It's similar to queer pride. Here is this part of myself that (some) others would like to devalue and demonize me for. But this part of me is magical. It makes me who I am. Without it, I would be someone else entirely. And I'm proud of who I am. That's what it all boils down to, essentially.

Autistic pride is loving and valuing yourself even when outside forces may try to take that away from you.

I'm proud to be autistic. I'm proud to be queer. I'm proud to be alive. I'm proud to be here.

Auctober 31: Autistic Pride ✨

May 21, 2021 was the day I was diagnosed as autistic. I was relieved because it answered SO MANY QUESTIONS about why I was different, but I was also scared for what it would mean going forward. To help myself process it, I drew my faesona with my favorite autistic-coded character; Prilla from the "Disney Fairies," book series.

Prilla was my favorite character because, like me, she did things differently. It never hurt anybody, but the other fairies were often telling her: "We don't do that." They would talk behind her back, saying she was "off," and would often avoid her because they didn't know how to deal with her. But in the end, Prilla found her place in Pixie Hollow, and was able to make friends.

Growing up, she gave me a reason to hope that someday, I'd meet people who didn't mind how weird I was and actually enjoyed my company, and that I'd find my own way of contributing to the world.

I've made great friends in high school, and with my new job, I'm making new friends among my co-workers. The work I do isn't amazing 😏 but I'm still contributing to society.

Auctober Day 15: Au-DHD

I am both autistic and ADHD. Sometimes I feel like the traits conflict with each other, or I can't tell which causes what. I have less anxiety when I plan ahead and know what to expect from something, but I struggle to do it. I like routine but if there's too much routine I get restless. Sometimes I'm in sensory overload but understimulated at the same time. I think I need to learn to accept that I am always going to be a bit of an unpredictable person, and come up with coping skills that work for me.

Day 31: Hallowe'en Autistic Pride

I'm proud to be me. I might be autistic, or I might not be, But I share weird interactions, And inhibited olfaction, With this whole gold community.

I'm proud to be me. If I watch different programmes from the self-same settee, Or if the volume's too loud, But I'm making more sound, By tapping my hand on my knee.

I'm proud to be me. When the most complex patterns are easy to see, But I have to correct, Every minor defect, Forgetting that it might displease.

I'm proud to be me. And we all should be, We deserve to be proud, To stand up and stand out. And to count, And to shout: I'm proud to be me.

i actually have lots of little collections. i have a pretty rock collection, a couple jars full of origami cranes ive folded, and tons of stuffed animals. id say the biggest one + one that brings me most joy is my books, though. i absolutely love having my own physical copies of books rather than ebooks or library books - im not sure how many i own, but it must be well into the hundreds :) its stuff all the way from books i liked as a kid to various fantasy series to classics to art books to womens studies and i love all of my books.

Auctober Day 2!

I actually don't infodump too often, irl at least. I was encouraged to stop infodumping as a kid and I have a really hard time doing it now since I feel like I'm just wasting people's time. And the times I do try it REALLY HURTS to get shut down so fast. Online fandom spaces are a godsend, they're the one place I can infodump freely without anxiety of being ignored or getting too intense.

That said, if ANYONE mentions Jurassic World I WILL go on a rant about inaccurate dinosaurs and you best be prepared for a science lesson cause DINOSAUR ANATOMY IS IMPORTANT!!!! >: (

I'm someone who's VERY sensitive when it comes to textures, to the point where I'm too anxious to eat sometimes (which is something I've been working on). When I do find a good texture it's always very reassuring!

Auctober Day 24: Parallel Play

Parallel play fucking rocks. You're telling me I can spend time with someone whose company I enjoy without holding constant conversation or even looking at them? Thereby using less energy and being able to play for longer? And we can do our own things so we don't have to spend forever deciding on an activity?

God I wish my girlfriend was more into parallel play. I'd have so much more energy! Things would be so much more low-pressure!

Damn I need to make some autistic friends lmao
