"Fated For Love And Death" - Selena and Charles
Tumblr media
EDIT- [Audio Description: The characters Selena Beauregard and Charlie Beckendorf, from the Percy Jackson series. They are holding each other, eyes closed, with each has a hand extended behind their partner.
Charlie is dropping a match, symbolic to his sacrifice in the war against Kronos and the boats explosion, while Selena holds Clarisse's spear, symbolic to her stealing her friends armour (which she is wearing) and chariot to lead the Ares kids into the final battle in an attempt to right the wrongs she made in aiding Luke.
Their foreheads rest gently together and they hold each other, Charlies hand on Selena's waist, and her hand holding his arm. They are both in their final moments, seconds before death, allowing themselves to bid farewell to their love and life.]

Just saw that Dragons Rising has audio description.
As a visually impaired fan, I was super excited.
Tumblr media
If you don't know, audio description is another audio track, like a language dub, that describes the scene on screen for people with low/no vision. It describes what's going on, at least basic things about characters or scenery, usually during gaps in dialogue.
....this was not it.
My excitement turned to crushing disappointment in less than a minute.
A robotic voice greeted me with "Ninjago Dragons Rising", and then the title of the episode.
Arin does his speech, but. There's no mention of what he's doing. Or that his parents are watching him/that he looks to them.
Do you know what the first thing this robotic voice that i dont even think is a human says?
"A portal opens, and a dragon flies out/past".
....that's it.
No mention of the colours. The shape of the portal. The looks on peoples faces.
I stopped watching there for now. It's late, and I just wanted to check it out before I forgot. I'll watch more tomorrow and give more thoughts.
But this is really disappointing, Lego.

If I made an audio description of Aurora, would anyone be interested in joining? Like voice actors or audio producers (I'm fully willing to do the entire thing myself, but it'd be awesome if I didn't have to)
(By audio description: think the kind they use in movies/shows aimed toward blind ppl so they can enjoy it too. Like that, but for a comic)

Audio description:
Josh Brener says: "As a kid, my older brothers were huge Ninja Turtles fans and had all the toys. Which they would not let me touch or play with ever. So for me, this has been a journey about revenge. And I have my very own action figure now Marc and Seth so WHY DON'T CHA SUCK ON- (audio gets cut off)

Y'all should turn on the audio description for good omens, I'm doing BACKFLIPS
It's great for the visually impaired, but it also works for autism. I have trouble interpreting some cues/gestures/facial expressions, especially in the finale when there's a lot going on
It says things like "Aziraphale walks back into the bookshop, deep in thought" "Crowley looks disappointed" "Aziraphale turns away and begins to cry"
Too many things I didn't notice and I'm like OH. That single facial expression was foreshadowing. Plus, you get to hear it passionately describe the kiss so that's cool

I just watched All Of Us Strangers and I had the audio description on. I really liked the movie but oh wow the audio description was exciting! Specifically because of a connection I noticed between the first and last scene. (Possible spoilers!)
Here are my thoughts I jotted down right after finishing the movie, trying to recall the audio description from memory.
The audio description of the opening scene described sunlight reflecting on a building getting brighter orange, intensifying like a starburst. The end scene of Adam and Harry resting in bed drew further away making them smaller, and then morphed into a ball of light. It became a shining star in the night sky.

behold my favorite hermitcraft recap gag where they reuse this clip whenever anyone says yay ever it makes me so unreasonably happy that I had to clip it for myself. I want to put this audio clip into a soundboard and just press it when anything good happens
I will also actually try and sleep now that my meds have kicked in! gn gaymers <3

Hello everyone! It's just a little over 3 days until Rick and Morty Season 7 premieres and I've been busy hunting new footage for all of you, considering how well my last post did! ⭐
As we all know, new clips from this upcoming season are especially important this time around, as they give us insight into how the new voice actor(s) will be performing!
And I have some good news for you particularly deranged fans (like me)— There's new video and audio from Season 7 that you might not have heard yet!
I will have to create 3 separate posts since tumblr only allows 1 video per post, so don't forget to check out the links at the bottom of this one to watch the rest of my recordings!
TLDR: I have some new ad edits from Adult Swim containing Rick and Morty Season 7 clips that are practically unavailable anywhere else online! (For your viewing enjoyment, follow the links at the bottom)
NOTE: If anyone wants to use take clips from these recordings I made, make gifs, take screenshots, or make memes, & etc., be my guest! I'd love it if you tagged me in any posts you make from these, if I happened to help anyone out!
ADVERT#1:
THINGS TO NOTE ABT VID#1. . .
This ad is not-too-unlike the official Season 7 trailer posted by Adult Swim on YouTube [here], as it is similar in length and retains many of the same clips and beats as the first. However, keen viewers will notice certain aspects have shifted & two additional clips have replaced a few others:
TIMESTAMP: -0:26 seconds left | SCENE: New clip of Morty with the Mafia group, holding a table tennis paddle and waving an empty milkshake glass. He stands beside a concerned alien woman playing table tennis with him and speaks to an imposing, yet also concerned, mafia alien man. | DIALOUGE: "M-My Milkshake is empty!" - Morty
TIMESTAMP: -0:22 seconds left | SCENE: New clip of Rick in the bar with Mr. Poopybutthole, Gearhead, Bird Person, Gene, Squanchy, and the guy (presumably an employee at the bar of sorts) who had earlier pushed Mr. PB's face into a cupcake with a lit birthday candle. Mr. PB is notably covered in cake frosting and has a paper bag with the words 'Deadbeat Dad' on the top of his head serving as a hat. Everyone smiles, then cheers as Rick slams a tray of beers down for everyone at the table and prompts everyone including him to raise their hands up or pump their fists in excitement. | DIALOUGE: "Let's get Riggedy Riggedy WREEECKED!" - Rick (GOD, THE VOICE ACTING IS DELICIOUS!!!!!)

Season two of good omens has (as all media on streaming services should) an audio described version.
It’s good for the most part. The sound mixing is well done, and the interruptions are well placed, however I do have one issue. Non-binary characters are referred to with the pronouns and sexes of their actors, not the pronouns and sexes (or lack thereof) which are used for them in the show and script. This is disappointing, as Neil Gaiman has made his support for the LGBTQ+ community undeniable, and has made a real effort to give genuine and positive representation to Non-binary people in his work, however this is not reflected in the Audio described version. As a result, those who enjoy Good omens entirely through this media are missing out on the wonderful representation, scattered around the show. If anyone knows the correct way to go about contacting prime for this issue to be resolved, please do so, and share how others can do the same.
(A correctly labelled metatron below for good luck today <3)

Just finished Nimona, and I don't think I've ever been this angry about audio description refusing to mention race.
And I spend a lot of my life angry about that.
It's always asinine, it's always appalling, it's occasionally astonishing.
But this feels like a huge FUCK YOU to blind Asian kids.
And is it not a civil rights violation to deny blind audiences access to a very deliberate and significant layer of the story?
But, sure, Roundabout Entertainment, please tell us how long Todd's hair is. That's obviously the most narratively salient detail. So, so crucial to the plot. /sarcasm

Since I got a rather ignorant comment about this on AO3, I feel like this is a good time to remind everyone that audio description is a thing that exists.
But for those unaware, audio description is an accessibility option where the key visual elements of the television show or film are presented via a narrator.
Granted, this option isn't as widely available as it ought to be. Personally speaking, I think every film or tv show should just come with the option.
For example, the Daredevil series that so many of us know and love has audio description (even if it is a little disappointing that Netflix had to be nagged into providing it).
From what I've read, at least some venues for live performances have a booth that is sound-isolated but with a good view of the stage where a narrator can provide live audio description via a wireless earpiece to blind or low vision audience members.

Color is very important in my descriptions when writing. I use it a lot.
It wasn't until halfway through the first draft of the first chapter of an *audio description* did I realize that I might have to work around that 😅
