Sparring and competition

Kanoa: So today we sparr with each other *looking at the training plan*

Alicia: Yeah, should we start? *while bandaging her hands* public's here

Kanoa: Heh, after you, Licia~

*They both get up into the ring, smiling to eachother with some savagery as the WTF and the Specters were watching along with Maya (@justasmolbard OC), Aly (@alypink OC) and Sigma (@mutantthedark OC)*

Alicia: Will you contain yourself?

Kanoa: Don't tell me you need me to contain myself *grins*

Alicia: Ha! You wish! *laughs before loosing her smile* I'll erase that grin off your face

Kanoa: We'll see that, Alicia. I'll go with everything

Alicia: I'd be offended if you didn't

Aly: This will go really wrong or really well *sighs*

Maya: I would go more for really wrong *smiling with nervousness*

Halia: I'm honestly more curious than worried, I mean! Two Marines, both Captains AND both hand-to-hand combat especialists, I wanna know who'll win

Aly: I guess you have a point

Aelan/Jackson: These idiots... *preparing the first aid kits*

*The two Marines start to fight, both of them using different techniques in just some minutes. First Kanoa starts with some MCMAP kicks that Alicia stopped with some diffiiculty, before answering it with some punches that Kanoa dodge as fast as he could. They both were grazed by the hits, but just some of it impacted them.*

Halia: I...am surprised *chuckling with a raised eyebrow*

Aly: Please don't break each other bones *murmuring* just don't break each other bones

Maya: Uh, Luke, do you think they'll finish this as a even match? *looks at the Lieutenant*

Luke: I doubt it, I don't think they're like that...

*In a second Kanoa managea to grab Alicia's arm during an attempted punch from behind, using her own impulse to throw her over his shoulder. Alicia fells hard into the canvas, causing a loud sound because of the hit, leaving her without aur for a second. Mean while Kanoa looks at Tiala and smiles while waving with a victory grin*

Kanoa: Don't you have the best big brother?

Tiala: Behind you *with a nervous smile*

Kanoa: Wha-? *gets tackled* ack!

Alicia: Never take off your eyes of your opponents, Noa *growls with a savage smile, keeping him on a lock*

Kanoa: Same for you, Licia! Be sure the enemy doesn't move! *kicks her on the side with all his strenght to take her off him*

*They stood up in a second looking at each other, waiting for just a movement or an opening. They didn't say anything else, and at that time Wraith walked inside, smiling when she noticed the fight. As she whistled a little melody, she went to a closet near the ring, taking out two wooden fighting sticks.*

Wraith: Hey you two! Grab it! *throws them the sticks*

Kanoa: Huh, this is well crafted *smiling as he grabs the stick*

Alicia: I bought them for my practices, great quality if I'm honest *getting in a kung fu fighting position* shall we?

Aly: Wraith, why...?

Jackson: If they don't kill each other, I'll kill Alicia *growls* how can someone be so...stupid with this kind of things?

Aelan: Tell me about it, I'll have a good talk with Kanoa once we end here *pissed off*

El oráculo homérico - Edición exhaustiva

La práctica de la adivinación por medio de versos de las épicas de Homero estuvo bien establecida y difundida entre los antiguos griegos, con referencias a que la práctica se realizaba con muchos escritos y obras de teatro de la época. Se registra una lista de versos utilizados como respuestas en varios papiros diferentes y siempre han sido los mismos versos en el mismo orden, lo que implica que se copiará un texto bien establecido. Desafortunadamente, estos textos individuales están incompletos en su registro del método utilizado para este tipo de adivinación. Aquí se intentará explicar a grandes rasgos cómo funcionaba.

PRIMERO: Solo en cierta hora del día y en ciertos días en específico del mes son viables para este tipo de adivinación. A diferencia de los versos, se ve que estos tiempos varían algo en función del texto donde se graban, pero el cuadro más completo se encuentra en el PGM.

Días y horas para la adivinación:

1 al amanecer

2 a mediodía

3 no usar

4 al amanecer

5 al amanecer

7 a mediodía

8 durante todo el día

11 por la tarde

Los griegos usaban un sistema diferente para su calendario, por lo que el día 31 no está indicado así que se asume que no es viable usar el oráculo los días 31.

SEGUNDO: Antes de usar el oráculo se debe recitar una oración específica a Apolo. Esto fue bastante difícil de conseguir ya que la única página donde se conserva no tiene una traducción disponible al público. Está compuesta, propiamente, de versos inconexos de la Odisea y la Ilíada:

Escúchame, ¡oh rey!, que habitas en la rica tierra de Licia o quizá en Troya, pero en todas partes tiene el poder de escuchar a un hombre que sufre, incluso como ahora el sufrimiento viene a mí. Y dime esto con la verdad, para que yo sepa muy bien lo que más deseo y el deseo más anhelado por mi corazón.

TERCERO: El oráculo se realiza tirando tres dados de 6 lados o en su defecto un solo dado tirado tres veces. Registra los tres números y esto te dará el identificador del verso. 

Se puede encontrar una lista completa de los versos en PGM IV pero no me gusta la traducción de Homero que usan para escribir versiones en inglés de los versos. Recomiendo encarecidamente este recurso que te permite buscar el texto original por número de libro y número de línea, de modo que pueda ver exactamente qué líneas griegas originales debían indicarse y compararlas una al lado de la traducción. (Para las versiones en español es recomendable comprar la edición de la Universidad Autónoma de México que es bilingüe, entonces podemos cotejar los versos y la traducción es excelente)

Oráculo homérico adaptado

Necesitarás:

Una copia de la Odisea y de la Ilíada.

Un número apropiado de dados.

Un círculo.

El oráculo homérico original incluía alrededor de doscientas citas preseleccionadas del trabajo de Homero y el pasaje seleccionado dependía de la tirada de dados; este oráculo adaptado a la actualidad usa los mismos principios con la aleatorización más factible de la bibliomancia.

En primer lugar piense en la cuestión de la que te gustaría tener respuesta y tenla en mente mientras haces la adivinación. (Una adivinación aleatoria para comenzar en el día también puede ser viable).

Comienza a hojear despacio tu copia de la Odisea o de la Iliada (algunas fuentes antiguas dicen que también funcionaba con obras de teatro u obras poéticas). Cuando sientas algún tipo de conexión con alguna página detente y revisa cuántas líneas tiene la página.

En el caso de la autora de este blog, su copia de la Odisea tiene 40 líneas por página, por lo que utiliza 7 dados (6 caras por 7 dados da un resultado de 42) así que utiliza el número adecuado de dados para tener un resultado óptimo. Haz la tirada de dados y ve cuáles caen dentro del círculo. 

Suma el resultado de los dados que cayeron dentro de círculo para adivinar qué línea de la página se aplica a tu pregunta.
