This lovely, angelic white gown was seen for the first time in the 2005 production of Pride and Prejudice where it was worn by an extra. It was seen again on the actress Charlotte Riley during her take on the character of Cathy in the 2009 two-part television series adaptation of Wuthering Heights. It wasn’t seen again until 2023, when it was worn by Rose Williams as Charlotte Heywood in Sanditon.  It was seen again in 2024, where it was worn by Calypso Cragg as Mary Bennet in An American In Austen.

I don't know if I missed Period Drama Appreciation Week, but here is my entry. I love Emma 2020, especially what they did with costuming and mannerism in Harriet Smith.
Here we have the first meeting, Harriet looks very frumpy in her outfit and she often looks over at Emma for guidance on how to act:

Here is the much later meeting with Mrs. Elton, where Harriet is assimilating to how Emma looks and acts (one of the biggest changes, Harriet does not eat this time):

At Box Hill, full imitation:

The transformation is slow but sure, Harriet looks less and less like her peers at Mrs. Goddard's school and more and more like Emma. She never becomes quite as elegant (just watch the feet, Emma stands in a ballet pose which Harriet never matches), but she does become quite the little double.
The detail and attention to costuming, the soundtrack, and the Knightley are all things I love about this movie.

This red Regency gown was first seen on an extra in 2022 in the second season of Bridgerton in the episode Off to the Races. It was seen again in 2024, where it was worn by Eliza Bennett as Harriet in Hallmark’s 2024 An American In Austen.

Simple, elegant beauty. Whether you prefer to call it Georgian or Regency, this Empire waist design is certainly recognizable. Dating from 1810, just a year before George III was too ill to continue his reign. It was another 10 years, however, until George III passed away and George IV took up the mantle of King.
I love the elegance and simplicity of the early Regency period, and this gown happens to be in one of my favorite colors, too. The beaded and lace details on the sleeves and bodice are delicate and dainty, while that gold silk still has its luster.
Personally, I love how you can see this dress as part of the evolution from round gowns just earlier.
I may have written a dress very similar to this in my own Regency fantasy novel. Just saying. Yellow dresses are pure magic.
From the McCord Museum.
