Book. #165 Henry Hamlet’s Heart. Queer coming of age, friends to lovers, end of year 12. Way to make me miss Brisbane HHH. This book is really sweet, the characters were great, the banter was sublime and the writing was like poetry. …. “It’s one of those perfect blue winter-Brisbane days–bright grass, sun-ruffled trees and wind on the river–of which we only get about three each year.” …. “There’s so much history in his face. The square set of his jaw, the golden brows, the way his teeth grip the right side of his bottom lip. I can picture him when we were five, when we were eleven, when we were sixteen. I did finish as it was tolerable and I wanted to know the end; of there's a twist. Unfortunately for me, this was a rather weird and, I felt, stagnant plot. Il libro che mi è piaciuto di più e quello che mi è piaciuto meno fra quelli letti ultimamente! 1) tutti nella mia famiglia hanno ucciso qualcuno,di Benjamin Stevenson, lettura in anteprima (uscirà in autunno) Bello, divertente ma con una parte gialla per nulla sovrastata dall'impostazione "comica" della scrittura.In altri gialli con parte divertente, cfr Malvaldi ed il suo filone del Bar Lume,o la Savioli de "il testimone chiave", ho trovato che spesso la parte relativa al crimine fosse un po' moscietta, cosa che non succede affatto qui, anzi l'ho trovata appassionante e pure un po' angosciante(non spoilero,ma alla rivelazione di chi fosse il killer e perché uccidesse in quel modo, sono rimasta di sasso! Davvero ben congegnato, e la scrittura in prima persona, che già mi piace in genere, è usata in maniera particolare e mi è piaciuta ancora più del solito. 2) Non ridere della vita sessuale degli altri,Neo-cola Yamazaki All'inizio mi ero entusiasmata, per la delicata storia d'amore fra lo studente e la sua professoressa d'arte, ma alla lunga(si fa per dire, la loro storia copre 99 mini paginette che valgono come 50 di misura standard) la cosa si è fatta noiosa ed inconcludente. Non ho capito l'appendice, c'è questo microracconto su una ragazza transgender, ma è il protagonista del racconto principale che poi diventa donna? Non lo spiegano, non si capisce.L'ho trovato superficiale e stupidino. Nel complesso non mi è piaciuto. "Kenna travels to Australia hoping to convince her best friend Mikki to come back to the UK. Mikki has fallen in with a group of surfers that have claimed a remote beach as their own. Kenna discovers that the Tribe has secrets...and that there are some suspicious deaths. She hopes that she doesn't become one of them" This is a story full of unlikable characters. Even Kenna makes you cringe at times. The story did drag a bit about halfway. There are a lot of wild team-building activities (Just ignore the jellyfish - it doesn't sting much. We haven't seen many sharks) There are some interesting dynamics in the group. The ending was unexpected. I was hoping for a little more resolution. This book is about grief, heartache and love, and love letters. This book makes you fall in love with all the characters, but especially Cal. Hanna 🫖🫖🫖💀 I've enjoyed a couple of other series by this author though those 2 were focused more around food which is totally my thing! This one around the garden isn't my thing cuz brown thumbs here... but thought I'd give it a go anyway. Deadhead and Buried is a very easy and fast read. I feel that it's very simple / basic in comparison to her other books or maybe this being the first book in series so a lot of time was spent on setup. I'm keen to find out how Poppy develops as character and amateur sleuth.
