Following Pip as she attends a murder mystery party, this book was a fun and quick way to see how Pip got into solving murders in the first place. Showcasing various characters from the original trilogy, we get to see a little bit more of their personalities, which was a really cool aspect of this novella. It was also really cool to watch Pip get so into the fake mystery, which was helped with the inclusion of the pamphlet provided by the company for the game. Despite being a novella, this book had a little bit of a creepy atmosphere and had a couple of twists I didn’t see coming. I also very much loved the slight foreshadowing the end of the novella had. What a reading spot! It has been a very bookish weekend and I have to admit, they’re the best kind! I had a wonderful time yesterday meeting some of the local bookstagrammers and am excited for all future meet ups! A gorgeous group of people! . I made two book purchases yesterday which have been added to my #tbrpile but I’ve read 10 books (or more) off it since I’ve been home - I’m really pleased with that! For once it is shrinking faster than I’m adding to it! In the first book with Milo, we met Frog, who was the new kid in the block (Turtle Place). In this instalment, we got to know Frog a lot better starting with him being the new kid in school. Ooh, I think we all know the pains of being the new kid but Frog is determined that this time, it'd be different. And he absolutely DID (capitals to exaggerate) it. What started as sort of fun though became twisted like an out-of-control roller coaster. It begins as a funny laugh-out-loud type of book but dig deeper and there were so much to unpack and discuss. I love Frog's sense of style and his individuality. I love this group of friends and their generosity for each other. “Unlike the internet, information on paper wasn’t forever. It could be burned, consumed, never seen again. Love letters could be forgotten. Secrets could be destroyed. Stains could be scrubbed away. Ink was not forever.” ✨👹✨👹✨ The Devil Makes Three by Tori Bovalino is a young adult dark academia horror thriller that I’ve wanted to read for quite a while, and I’m glad I finally did! Following Tess and Eliot as they accidentally set the devil free from his binding, this book was dark, atmospheric and twisty, which made it hard to put down. I was a huge fan of the school/library setting, which just added to the atmosphere of the novel. I have to admit that I wasn’t all that invested in either of the characters, but I found Eliot’s backstory incredibly interesting, especially as he was involved with magic. I found that the relationship between them was a little bit unrealistic, especially as it was so rocky for the majority of the novel. That being said, I think they balanced one another out while challenging each other, which is always a fascinating combination. Beautifully written in a way that it both lyrical and captivating, this book had all of the dark academia vibes. Bovalibo managed to capture both the beauty and wonder alongside the horror and fear. QOTD: What is a book you've read with a memorable twist? ☁️ BOOK REVIEW: The Quiet at the End of the World by Lauren James was a fantastic book with an unexpected twist! It covered two teenagers who are the youngest of their kind, as humans have become infertile in the future. ☁️ I love how it covered Shen and Lowrie's friendship and how they supported one another through life's hardships. An alternate perspective also gives us insight into the world going extinct and the research behind infertility rates and A.I. technology. ☁️ Definitely an interesting book that kept me guessing all the way through! I love dystopian that feel entirely plausible.
