the paradesi synagogue in kochi, kerala, india. the first synagogue on the site, built by the city's longstanding malabari jewish community, was destroyed by portugese who'd colonized the area in their persecution of locals. it was rebuilt in 1568 by spanish and portugese jews who fled persecution and later expulsion, hence the name "paradesi" ("foreign" in malayalam).

these sephardic jews and a community of jews of mixed african and european descent who were formerly enslaved ("meshuchrarim", "freedmen" in hebrew) joined the malabari jewish community of kochi and somewhat integrated. they were later joined by some iraqi, persian, yemenite, afghan, and dutch sephardic jews. the middle eastern and european jews were considered "white jews" and permitted malabari jews and meshuchrarim to worship in the synagogue. however, in what seems like a combination of local caste dynamics and racism, malabari jews were not allowed full membership. meshuchrarim weren't allowed in at all, but were instead made to sit outside during services and not allowed their own place of worship or other communal rights.

as the "white jews" tended to be rather wealthy from trade, this synagogue contains multiple antiquities. they include belgian glass chandeliers on its walls, hand-painted porcelain tiles from china on its floors, and an oriental rug that was gifted by ethiopian emperor haile selassie.

everyone watching the one piece live action for zoro and buggy and their respective (very handsome) actors, meanwhile i (a person that despises live actions) sit here watching it for taz skyler because he's so fine and took professional cooking classes to immerse in the role and kickboxing lessons so he can do his own stunts???? amazing. taz has single handedly made me love sanji as a character even more (which i didnt know was possible)

since we are now 5 episodes in the new season, i can tell that plane jane is going to fully ruin the season for me. so, i won't be following the season as much as i have the past few ones

i'm not dumb and realize she's amping it up for the camera and get that air time, and it's working for her... but at the same time, it's not enjoyable 'drama' like the daya/jasmine fights or anything mistress/luxx said last season. everything she says all comes across as mean-spirited and desperate for attention.

congratulation, you're playing the game, and you're probably making to the finale because production will never let go of someone that gives them free content but what i can see is just someone who is a bitch to work with and i don't know just how many people outside the show will want to have that energy around

as much as i wish there was a zeddison someday duet in z3, the whole cast version is actually so cathartic. when everyone joins in for the chorus it’s just like... so here is a group of teenagers. they are choosing love in a world of hatred. they are choosing life, and hope, and compassion, and togetherness, and community. their someday hasn’t quite arrived yet but they are still dreaming of it. still daring to hope for a future where they can live and love peacefully. ‘someday, this could be ordinary. someday, could we be something extraordinary?’ ‘we’re gonna be someday.’ it’s a statement. and conclusion. a prologue. they are choosing to be the future —this intangible, elusive someday— they want. together, they are choosing the future. they are going to make someday happen, now. today.
