It is amusing to me that our brain seems to have decided that having a time lord as a frequent fronter is important to our functioning

The fanfiction writer's stages of grief. And a lesson in spellcheck.
Denial
Always the toughest beast to acknowledge. "It's not gaining attention because it's a rarepair." Or better yet. "My hits to kudos/follows ratio is bound to catch up after I post the next chapter."
Anger
The nasty bits. "I don't under stand why XYZ's story is more popular. Mine is clearly more concise and better written."
Bargaining
"I don't like ABO and I don't like fluff, but if I add those two elements I might draw in a larger crowd." Or even worse. "This is a plot heavy character centric fic with lots of mystery, but if I just throw in a buttload of romance and smut, people will read it."
Depression
"Writing fanfiction isn't making me happier, it's making me anxious and self-conscious over something I'm supposed to love and enjoy." Or even worse. "Screw it, I'm deleting this crap and abandoning ship."
Acceptance
"Okay, so it wasn't a smash hit. I had more fun brainstorming with my sole reader than I did waiting anxiously for the notification bell to ring." You let out a deep breath and try again. "Screw it. I don't care if it doesn't get one view. I wrote this blackout drunk on my iPhone during a tornado warning. If they don't like it, who cares?"
Resolve
The process of writing is immensely enjoyable. That's why we're all here. No matter the fandom, ship, kinks, quirks, or skill we're all in this together. We all go through these stages at varying times. Encourage your fellow authors if they're in a slump.
And to our readers out there. We're a trainwreck. One big hot mess. We're one negative review/comment away from throwing our keyboards or killing off your beloved MC.
Stick with us. We'll be okay... eventually.
Food for Thought
Always use spellcheck. Read your chapter twice over before posting. Spellcheck is a fickle mistress. Take critique with a grain of salt. Write for yourself, but always keep your readers in mind. Spellcheck is good. Autocorrect is sometimes not so good.
Unnecessary example from a fic I came across but can't forget for the life of me.
---Edward starred into Bella's brown orbs, his hands around her waste. "Are... you...sure?"
Bella looked down at his hands. "I thought the chicken smelled off. But now..."---
The imagery from these two lines will haunt me forever.
Spellcheck my dear friends. Spellcheck.
If you didn't catch the typo, get a beta reader. They're rare mythical beings, but if you can find one that bonds well with you, then you've struck literary gold.
Keep writing, beautiful people.
