Hotel Crew: *stares in silence at the obliterated coffee machine*

Charlie: “…..”
Charlie: “-I did, I broke-”
Vaggie: “-no. No, you didn’t sweetie.”
Charlie: (huffs)
Vaggie: “Angel Dust?”
Angel Dust: “Don’ look at me, toots! Look at Husk.”
Husk: “What? I didn’t fucking break it?”
Angel Dust: “Weird. How’d you even know it was broken?”
Husk: “Because it’s sitting right the fuck in front of us, and it’s broken.”
Angel Dust: (leans down) (smirks in his face) “Suspicious~”
Husk: (angry cat noise) “No the fuck it’s not???”
Sir Pentious: “If- if- if it matterssss- probably not, but… Niffty WASSSS the lassst one to ussse it.”
Niffty: (giggling) “LIAR I DON’T EVEN DRINK THAT CRAP!”
Sir Pentious: “Oh. Ah, um, well then- what WERE you doing by the coffee cart earlier?”
Niffty: “I use the hot water to boil insets alive in- everyone knows that, SNAKEY.” (holds up coffee cup of dead drowned bugs)
Sir Pentious: (recoils hissing in HORROR)
Charlie: “Okay- OKAY! Let’s not fight, I broke it, let me pay for it Vaggie.”
Vaggie: “Babe, no. Who broke it?”
Hotel Crew: *dead silence*
Husk: “….”
Husk: “…Vaggie. Alastor’s been awfully fucking quiet…”
Alastor: (irate dial tuning sound) “REALLY?”
Husk: “Yeah, really-”
Alasator: “OH HO HOW DARE-”
Hotel Crew: *bursts into squabbling*
Vaggie: (watching)
Vaggie: (shit liar) “I broke it. It burned Charlie’s hand earlier, so I punched it.”
Hotel Crew: *still arguing aren’t listening*

something about childhood in succession.. the way it casts its shadow over the entire narrative, the rotten root of the roy siblings’s pain, all wrapped up in Logan’s power and abuse and love. The opening credits are filled with images of them as kids, beginning every. single. episode. by emphasizing the importance of their childhood: the siblings posing for a photo, playing sports, standing on a manicured lawn, riding an elephant, etc. and then the shots of logan, in which he is always shown from behind, or far away. It is a childhood the viewer never gets to see in any other context, since there are no flashbacks in the show, and therefore as integral as it seems, we know almost nothing about it. What exactly happened? What are the details? We feel its presence, we can tell how it informs their relationships, we can put together the pieces of incomplete and contradictory memories expressed through dialogue, and if we trace their struggles and dysfunction back far enough we know it leads there, to when they were kids. But there is so much empty space we can’t fill in. It’s almost like their childhood is presented in that horror technique where you never get to see the monster clearly straight on. It’s always in darkness, and chopped up into close-ups so that the viewer’s imagination is forced to invent something, however vague, and that is far scarier than it would be if we could actually see it — a monster that is terrifying BECAUSE it’s unknown. The roy siblings’s childhood is a major force behind so much that happens on screen, but what specifically occurred is out of the reach of our understanding. We are shown the monster’s shadow but not the monster, we are shown the frightened faces of the characters as they look at something behind the camera we never get to see, we are shown the running or the fighting or the blood but never the true, bigger-picture, clear details of the horror itself

I still find it funny that people call eleven a "deadbeat husband" and their marriage "toxic" but twelve is the "perfect husband" and their marriage "wedded bliss" all because of the few moments we'd seen between 11 and River were them being "toxic". yes of course! let's ignore how the minisodes show how that description isn't true and even how little moments in the episodes themselves – "what? that's it?" (why haven't you kissed me goodbye? are you being sly on purpose so I'd kiss you first?) and "they wouldn't bury my wife out here" and the music room is the heart of the home and it's not a ghost story, it's a love story – show 11 cared and put in the work and yes, they're going to have disagreements like the ones in TATM because duh who doesn't but it does not mean it is the entirety of their relationship but people have taken it and made it the entirety of their relationship.

As a survivor of abuse I relate to Machete so much. I've always felt unclean for no reason except being told I was unclean, and it made me feel worthless or revolting by default. Like, no matter what I did I would be filthy and unpleasant to be around.
Seeing that he can be loved, makes me feel like maybe I could be loved too.

godddd cellbits recurring motif of "i cant. ive tried." whenever someone tells him not to lose himself, both the bad and the good is so.. the implication of a perpetual fruitless spiral of turning man to monster and monster to man, and failing at both because loves too deeply and instinct is ingrained into him deeper than the carvings in his knife. he cant fucking stand himself. he can't stand how he can't be normal and has to rely on drinking copius amounts of coffee to stay awake enough to not lose it. he can't stand how even in the depths of his desire for vengeance, he hears the pain in his loved ones' voices and still stops to listen. these two parts of him have to be incongruous, because he knows he was happier when he was one without the other. and yet, time and time again the people who care about him tell him not to lose himself like they view him as whole. and again and again, he tells them that he can't. because he's tried to break himself in half and it doesnt fucking work like that. and he'll continue until he destroys himself because hes fucking Tired of being whole.
