14. what’s something you’ve always wanted to do but maybe been to scared to do?

It is hard to identify things that I am scared of that I also want to do. Most things I'm scared of I don't want to do, or i want to until it becomes a little too real and then i deeply don't want to do them. I guess I would like to go social dancing alone, but I am scared to go alone. i currently only go when I can take a friend or my partner, for social anxiety reasons. But i would be able to go a lot more frequently if I went alone.

20. favourite things about the night?

I like when i am exausted and floating.... exausted floaty sleepy...... when everything is soft and close and far away. full body feelings that can only be attained by making myself stay awake when I am very very very tired. i told this to @jeejyboard and they informed me that I was putting myself into subspace by staying up late LMAOOOOO anyway polling the People: is that true...

26. fave colour and why?

Orange because it is bright and visible and fun. Red because lucky color. Black because I look good in it.

do you have any characters you kind of wish you didn't stan but you zeroed in on them so aggressively so quickly you can never let them go?

Hmm trying to unpack all my thoughts on that one is a little complicated.

The one that comes first to mind is Katherine Pierce - she was pretty fascinating from the jump especially when she fully emerged in season 2. I feel like what happened to her character later (and TVD's trajectory in general) made me feel very depressed. Elena should be an option but I'm so frustrated by the narrative treatment and fandom bashing of Elena that I just feel fiery protectiveness mostly.

There are characters and ships I kind of wish I didn't love so much because the fandom is miserable and weird, but overall that's more frustration with the fandom or frustration with myself for not being better at carving out my own corner of happiness and compartmentalizing against the bullshit.

I feel like there are better answers that I'm blanking on, where I just latched onto a character and then was like 'dang this is. Oof wish I could let go.' I've definitely fallen in love with a character design and realized that they sucked lol.

But my main reactions are a) if the character is neglected by the canon, get annoyed and try to pump out fan content and love them even harder or b) if the character itself really starts to suck, often take the elements of design or personality I love and quietly weave it into something original lol.

what if mako became a instagram model (or avatar-verse version of insta) like tim chung?

plot twist: mako doesn’t know about the insta account where he’s insta-famous bc bolin runs it. he likes to take artsy photos of mako that mako can use for online dating profiles (he never uses them) and starts uploading them for fun because SOMEONE should see these photos, at least!! and it gets out of hand. so now it’s all very romantic/evocative photos of like, mako browsing the shelf at a used bookstore with the caption “maybe you could be my fairy tale” and when mako finds out, he dies of embarrassment and doesn’t leave his apartment for three weeks. this was a rush, thank you

But also I legit rly liked the mermaids in Siren! I still kinda wanna watch the rest of s1/s2 sometime. And I saw some underwater fight scenes in s3 that made me go :OOO so maybe when I’m in the right mood I watch that disrespectfully and not rewatch it.

I love feral mermaids 🥺 genuinely inhuman mermaids, feeling out that psychological distance. I looooove mermaid creature/worldbuilding that evokes stuff like whale song etc

fingers crossed, i think our best estimate as to what’s going on (since the alarm hasn’t gone off again) is that if someone puts a lot of strain on the water heater it’s putting off more than it should. still only warned for 50 PPM, and we might be okay so long as my younger sister doesn’t take another 2 hour shower (!?!) and put a lot of strain on it until someone can maybe look at it

no one wants to, which is understandable?! how on earth you gonna keep yourself from getting in contact with contaminated surfaces doing work in a stranger’s home that may be asymptomatic, particularly with a multi-person home

it was a surreal moment when i was like ‘okay im both nauseous and headachey now....i shouldn’t tell them bcs then ppl might get upset/freaked out’ and then i was like a) uhhhhhhhhhhh everyone is living in this house and b) uhhhhhh probably should get upset of CO poisoning.. but then i ate something and the nausea went away & headache p much went away after a bunch of water so.

well… the rough summary of why i hated avengers: infinity war goes a little bit like this (utilizing minimal spoilers): 

theycould’ve had thanos get the infinity stones for his magical glove off-screen and instead made a movie called avengers: the cosmic meet ‘n’ greet… and it would’ve had the same effect as this movie, because thanos andhis children were so obscenely powerful that they literally wiped thefloor with everyone pretty much whenever there was a fight, so the whole movie was just a bunch of mcu characters meeting each other before getting their asses kicked by thanos et al.

none of the hero characters’ actions really ended up making much of a difference. like… they imply there’s a greater plan behind what happened, but at this point that just feels like pay us some more to see how this story ends and how our heroes will end up winning anyway with minimal casualties! rather than an actual choice that makes sense in the story’s context.

the characterizations of 95% of the hero characters were basically caricature versions of them. it was especially bad with the guardians of the galaxy, who seem to have been frozen in time since we first met them in their first movie and haven’t had any character development since.

most of the “deaths” in the movie feel like a cheap cop-out… because most of the “deaths” happen right at the end, meaning that it’s not the end after all and they will come back eventually. so be sure to come back to the cinema next year and pay us some more money to see all your favourite characters come back to life!!!

they try to make thanos sympathetic. 

in my opinion, it doesn’t really work.

the whole movie feels like torture porn from the very first scene, unless it’s offering up some of marvel’s customary bland, horribly timed and one-note humour. then it’s just terrible horror-comedy that hides its vapidness under a thin layer of pretty visuals and flashy special effects.

so there.

in short: avengers: infinity war can suck my toe. thanks for coming to my TED talk.

i've been dearly in love with dlb literally since i was 13. i still remember the day i read the scene where korra brings mako out into the sun for the first time and they kiss, and it's one of my fave literature scenes of all time, and i still get warm and weepy just thinking about it. that, and in one of the following chapters you used some metaphor about a fish having its head chopped off in the market, and i knew when i read it i wanted to write something that chilling and powerful one day.

OH WOW THIS MAKES ME EMOTIONAL!!!! the fish chapter is one of my favorite things I’ve ever written, and I remember it took me like eight months and 11 drafts to get there. I’m glad you liked it and the kiss so much, I worked pretty hard on all of that… TY!!
