Thanks @impishtubist for the reminder that today is Sirius’s birthday and he deserves to celebrate being a good Dad. I knew I wanted to come back to Addie I just couldn’t figure out how. So here we are, hope this makes up for the hiatus. Unexpected AU Master Post here  Read on AO3 here

Happy Birthday Papa

“Are your eyes closed?” Remus yelled from the other room.

“For the hundredth time, yes! They are closed!”

“There is a reason that I keep all your Christmas presents at James and Lily’s.”

“You shouldn’t have told me that. Now I know where to look.”

“You’re insufferable. Just keep your eyes closed.”

“They’re closed!”

“Okay, don’t open them until I tell you.” Remus said, and then he started to sing. “Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Papa! Happy birthday to you!” His voice had been growing steadily closer as he sang and Sirius felt him lean over and set something on the table in front of him. “Okay, open your eyes birthday boy.”

Sirius opened his eyes to Addie seated in front of him and supported by Remus’s hands wearing a cupcake costume, complete with a frosting hat that was covered in sprinkles with a candle sticking out the middle. 

“Well then, this is so sweet I could just gobble it up.” He scooped Addie up in his arms and kissed and nibbled all over his daughters chubby cheeks as she shrieked and giggled in delight. 

“Happy birthday darling,” Remus said as he leaned down to give him a kiss and placed a real cupcake with a lit candle and a small wrapped box in front of him. “Sorry I couldn’t give you something more.”

Sirius took a deep breath and blew out the candle. “Sweetheart, you already gave me the best present I could ever ask for.”

“I know but still if I’d been sleeping more I feel like I’d have come up with something better.”

“Oh how awful, of you,” Sirius teased. “To get up throughout the night to feed our daughter.”

“Just shut up and open your gift before I collapse from stress please.”

“Come here,” Sirius said, pulling him onto his lap and handing Addie over to him. “You always get so stressed with gifts. You could have gotten me nothing and it still would have been a perfect birthday.”

“Mhm,” Remus said as he leaned down to take the hat off Addie as she kept tugging at it. “Your first one as Papa.”

“I’m never going to get used to that.” He picked up the tiny box and started to pull at the wrapping to reveal a small jewellery box. He opened it up to find a heart shaped necklace inside. It was made of clay and there were two fingerprints pressed into it.

“One is mine and the other is Addie’s. I thought this way you could always have a piece of us wherever you go. It’s silly, isn’t it?”

“No,” Sirius said, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze. “It’s perfect. Could you put it on me?”

“Of course,” Remus said smiling, and Sirius knew that he was secretly very happy that he liked the gift. He’d bet money that he’d spent the last few nights laying awake worrying over it. 

Remus passed Addie back over to Sirius and then stood up so that he could clasp the necklace around Sirius’s neck. “There,” he said as he let go and the pendant fell in between Sirius’s collarbone. “What do you think?”

“It’s perfect. You’ve both left a mark on my heart.”

“You’re such a sap.”

“I’m allowed to be. I’m in love.”

“Well it’s a good thing I love you too. Both of you.”

Sirius reached out for the cupcake, starting to peel off the wrapper from the bottom while attempting to keep it out of reach of Addie’s grabby hands. “Here,” he said, holding it out to Remus, “come have a bite.”

Remus leaned forward to take a bite but before he could Sirius promptly smashed the whole thing against his face.

“I hate you,” Remus said dryly. 

Sirius hollowed with laughter in his seat and Addie clapped her hands in delight. “I thought you just said you loved me Moonpie.”

Remus rolled his eyes and looked down at Addie. “Your father, my gremlin, is a menace.”

“Hmm,” Sirius said as he swiped icing off of Remus’s nose before sucking it off his finger, “well let’s hope she got that gene from me then.”

“Is there anything else you’d like to do today, birthday boy?”

“Well, I thought maybe me and my perfect little family could curl up and spend the day together on the couch.”

“Sounds perfect.”

They only made it about halfway through the film Sirius picked before it was time to put Addie down for her nap, after a fussy twenty minutes she finally settled in her crib, snoozing peaceful as her fathers gazed down at her. 

“Thank you,” Sirius said, wrapping his arms around Remus. “For giving me this. I wasted a lot of birthday candles wishing for a family that loved me. Thanks for granting my wish.”

“Not a waste, darling,” Remus said, leaning back to kiss him. “Never a waste.”

“Mhm,” Sirius said, as he hooked his head over Remus’s shoulder and looked down on his daughter. “I think you’re right.”

“What did you wish for this year?”

“Can’t tell you because then it won’t come true.”

“Menace,” Remus teased.

“But you love it.”

“Yeah,” Remus admitted. “I really do.”

Hey everyone! So a few days ago I decided to try something, to try and draw something digitally every night to help build up my confidence with drawing more like this, since I haven’t done much digital art in.. well awhile. 

I decided to try a project of drawing once a night, where I draw all the cookies I see as regressors! Now seeing my list it will be alot to draw.. but since I’m doing one drawing at a time, I think I might be able to pull these off <: Plus with all my traditional doodles I think I’ve gotten a bit better at drawing quickly? 

But yeah, the first four cookies are Beet, Purple Yam, Pitaya, and Adventurer ^^
