How many times do we think this girl got herself tangled up in her own vines when she was first learning how to use her gift and she was constantly getting untangled by her parents? Tiny Isabela was so CUTE

I just watched Encanto for the first time and here’s my rundown of the Madrigals’ gifts:
Antonio: The rats told me my uncle is in the walls.
Mirabel: I’m the family therapist that keeps this house together… literally.
Camilo: I can shape-shift!
Dolores: …I need to go live with monks.
Isabela: Don’t make your abuela a flower, or you will be forced into godhood.
Luisa: Eldest Daughter Syndrome
Pepa: If I’m emotionally unstable, so is the sky!
Julieta: I heal people through the sheer power of arepas.
Bruno: I can tell you if your house will break down, and you’re asking me if your hairline is receding??? At age 50??????
Alma: Candle.

“It’s not my fault, Isa! I don’t have the equipment! Take it up with your mamá!” he whined, once he’d untangled her fingers from the already sparse little thatch of hair (sparser now) and had convinced her to grasp one thumb in each dastardly little glue trap of a hand instead.
Here’s a gift for @ambidextrous-space-samurai of my favorite moment from their fic Benediction // Malediction, which might be one of the most beautiful and heartwarming things I’ve ever read. It’s about Bruno becoming an uncle and holding Isabela on the day she’s born - so many good familial feels.
The image of Bruno making little maracas with infant Isabela’s hands just wouldn’t leave me - I also kept picturing the super plush bed described in Julieta’s room.

The designs and info of isa’s family!!
Tumblr media
Firstly Isabela! The mother of Camilo, Antonio and Dolores!! Her life is pretty rough, she was 6 when her father was taken away from her, while witnessing everything. She had a shitty ass husband who made her family’s life a miserable, the only reason she even married him was because of Alma, and arranged marriage. She divorced him 2 years ago and now she’s happily single. Alma still pressures her in this au too but since the divorce Alma has become much more softer and lowered her standards. Before she had Dolores though she had 2 miscarriages because of her husband!
Isabela was a crazy teenager, she also had a normal sistly relationship with mirabel, sometimes she was maybe mean but she knows mirabel knew she didn’t mean it, at least she thinks that. Her life changed when mirabel disappeared, not having mirabel in her wedding or when she had her kids was the worst. Since then she made sure her family was happy so they wouldn’t wanna leave like mirabel too.
It’s true that Isabela is a protective mother and maybe strict (like asian moms) but she’s the most caring person at the same time. You would never catch her be mean to Dolores or any other little kid. She has a nickname for every family member and a flower too!
Tumblr media
Camilo is the eldest grandkid, being more than 5 years older than the others is hard for him, he constantly needs to “be a good influence”. Instead he is the most unserious grandkid, but the funniest! Alma tried to get him arranged with many girls but he passed them since he got eyes for an other person ;) He also had a pretty rough childhood because of his father, he abused him often without Isabela knowing and he was a pretty bad trouble kid. He had a close bond with his Tia mirabel though! Many called them “the age gap twins!” Isabela never complained. Camilo is a smoker, not a badly one just the one who smokes time to time, he got the addiction from his father :\ Camilo is 100% a mama’s boy.
He is a hardworking boy, charming and caring. Yet also trouble some and annoying too, he loves it to annoy his younger siblings or cousins, which they all hate from him besides Pepa. Him and Pepa have special bond, it often reminds him of the bond of him and mirabel, he and pepa often do pranks on others together or are just being besties together. He does have a lot going on which he hates, he is called “the one who never cares” often even though it is just hard for him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Antonio!! He is as tall as canon mirabel in this au, and a bit chubby!! Antonio is a very shy kid and barely doesn’t have any friends, besides his idiotic trio friends, Juancho-Cecilia-Alejandra! The best four group you would see in town, he loves them very much as friends. Like Camilo, Antonio has a got a bd childhood, experiencing the same abuse as Camilo got. That hit his social life a lot and has made him isolated too, his friends and family kept him up the bad weather, which he is thankful for. He got a scar at his lip because when he was very little, he was playing with a Jaguar cup and the mother jaguar approached him and attacked him, just luckily hurting his lip before Diego saved him. (That jaguar turned out to be parces mother!) he’s still pretty childish in this au which makes him adorable, Alma tries to make him get more friends or more popular but he refuses often.
He’s a deliver boy! His main chore is delivering stuff around the down, he doesn’t like it very much but it’s just what he’s got to do, he thinks his gift could be much more useful but no one will listen to him. He’s the second eldest in the family and he quiet does act like a good influence, if it wasn’t for Julieta, Julieta is confirmed to be the best one out of the grandkids. (Well by Alma to say the least.) that doesn’t stop him from still having an good relationship with her.
Tumblr media
Dolores is also a shy kid, shy enough for her to get nervous with her family too! She’s a free child who likes music and drawing a lot. Dolores is left unattended often since she’s quiet mature her age but she doesn’t like it to be alone. Her gift ceremony was a half month ago and it’s her nightmare, Dolores hates her gift but in the other side likes it slightly too. It has its own purpose. She didn’t have a too much bad childhood like Antonio and Camilo but unlike them she was a huge daddy’s girl. If he would’ve pushed her away or screamed at her she would still come back because she actually truly loved her dad no matter what but one day when she was 3 he randomly came to her and broke her leg (the reason Isabela divorced him) which broke her heart and now that he’s gone she is heart broken often, but she has grown more attached to antonio and isabela, if you would try and find her just go to either one of them and she’s there with them!
Later on she will meet someone called “senorita maripose” who she will talk to everyday is secret. For her senorita mariposa is a goddess guard guiding her home, like in a fairy tale (at least that’s what she got told by the woman.) Dolores doesn’t have any friends besides her best friend Mariano! She gets to see him very often and she loves him more than anything (not in a love way, they’re still kids!) they do make trouble often together and he’s the one only one who knows about senorita mariposa.
Tumblr media
Ivan….yea…don’t got to say much about him. He is not a great guy since he grew up in a weird family. He got arrested 7 years in prison for child abuse and after Isabela found out what he had done everything she destroyed him. But at least he deserved it. He did pretty bad stuff.
Any thoughts on isa’s family? ;)

Tumblr media Tumblr media
had to draw the queen of of self discovery on her birthday! Last year I did a rant abt how much I love her song so I’ll keep it short and sweet this time! Isabela means so much to me as a character her growth and development is iconic her song is a banger and I love a woman who loves plants 🫶 drew her in this dress because I remember someone saying it looked like something she would wear
Tumblr media
but I also think post movie isa would want to experiment with her style and customise all her outfits so I drew two versions! anyways I love isabela madrigal we should all appreciate her💗

Elsabela: Perfect Song
CW: Drugs, Ice, Lana Del Rey, Plants
Good morning, afternoon, or evening to anyone reading my post! Thank you for taking the time out of your day or night to read my post.
While I was doing my homework, I was listening to Lana Del Rey. I would not consider myself a Lana stan, but I do enjoy quite a few of her songs, especially ones from her Ultraviolence album.
While I was listening to Lana Del Rey's 2014 song "Brooklyn Baby", I thought that it would be the perfect song for an Elsabela fanfiction. For textual evidence, I have quoted some lyrics below:
First, "They think I don't understand The freedom land of the seventies"
Both Elsa and Isabela wear costumes inspired by 1970s fashion movement, specifically punk and boho.
Tumblr media
In addition, both of them crave freedom and self-expression.
Tumblr media
Next, "I think I'm too cool to know ya You say I'm like the ice, I freeze"
Yes, I am stating the obvious.
Tumblr media
Third, "They judge me like a picture book By the colors, like they forgot to read"
As they sing about in "Let it Go", "Show Yourself", and "What Else Can I Do", people have seen them solely as beautiful, perfect "proper ladies", when they are actually more than perfect princesses.
Tumblr media
Fourth, "But I'm free, ooh-ooh I'm free"
Similar to my third point, both ladies crave freedom.
Tumblr media
Fifth, "I'm talking about my generation Talking about that newer nation"
Both of them at least influence major social change in their respective hometowns.
Tumblr media
Sixth, "And if you don't like it, you can beat it Beat it, baby You never liked the way I said it If you don't get it, then forget it 'Cause I don't have to f*ck*n' explain it"
While I don't think either of them would be that rude to someone, they both have dealt with people, especially parents/grandparents not understanding them or allowing them to express their true selves.
Tumblr media
Second to last, "I've got [flowers] in my hair I get h*gh on hydroponic w**d"
After "What Else Can I Do", Isabela realizes that she can make more than decorative flowers, likely including "medicinal herbs". In addition, I am sure she is interested in learning new gardening techniques.
Tumblr media
Last, "Yeah, my [girl]friend's pretty cool But [she]'s not as cool as me"(Lana Del Rey, Barrie-James O'Neill)
They are both cool ladies, especially in the eyes of their younger sisters.
Tumblr media
Ironically, according to Matthew Jacobs for Huffington Post, Lana Del Rey's song "Brooklyn Baby" is a piece of satire about 2010s-era New York City hipsters and hipster culture. (Jacobs). To state the obvious, Isabela and Elsa are not 2010s-era NYC hipsters, at least in canon and the majority of fanfictions, as their stories are set in small towns in the 19th/20th century, and they are not pretentious or elitist about their personal tastes, which people think of hipsters being.
Overall, the song encapsulates their relationship and personal lives well.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day or night to read my post. Have a good day or night!

“Luisa...” He looked up and, all at once, the obvious hit Bruno. Luisa was panicking and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, let alone one above her head. No cold breezes, no rain or thunder. The weather outside stayed sunny and the spot above Luisa’s head remained cloud free. There was no snow coating her shoulders, no ice beneath her feet.
Oh Dios mio. The cracks...The Gifts!
“T-Tio,” Luisa gasped. She looked at him with big wet eyes and grabbed his hand in a vice-like grip. “Tio, I’m losing my Gift!”
*
When Luisa's Gift begins to fade, Bruno makes an important decision: no more running.

I once did a one shot called “A Hand For A Hermana” where Julieta helps Pepa with Dolores when she and Isa are babies because Lolita is literally being a damn MENACE and Pepa wants to cry, whereas Isa is being an angel for once 😂 I’m planning on rewriting it though, so would that be something you guys would wanna see? To be fair, I might use it as the opening of my one shot series about the Madrigal kiddos honestly. Thoughts?

Bebé's First Beach Day
I wrote this before I lost my mind. I figured my last post for a while should be fluff, so enjoy some Madrigal fluff. Work in progress. Maybe.
Summary:
Thanks to Camilo, little Mirabel's first day at the beach does not go according to plan
Julieta stood in the middle of the bathroom, trying to wrangle her usually mild-mannered toddler into standing still so she could put sunscreen on her soft, delicate skin. Mirabel had been giddy with excitement all morning.
They'd taken a much needed week-long vacation to mamá's beach house in Cartagena. The whole family had come, which basically meant complete and utter chaos. But it would be completely and totally worth it. The house was beautiful. Right on the beach, it featured not one, but two hot tubs, a pool, 6 bedrooms, a fitness room, and a very spacious kitchen (which Julieta was absolutely not excited about at all, not at all.) The whole family was excited. Luisa, Isabela, and Agustín had been hyping Mirabel up all week.
Agustín was especially excited for this particular trip. It was Mira's first trip to the beach. The rest of the family had gone a few months prior, but Mirabel had been sick that week, so they all stayed home, much to Isa and Lu's (and Agustin’s) chagrin.
Agustín absolutely loves the beach. He loved taking Isa in the water for the first time, and after that it sort of became a rite of passage, for him to take all of their babies in the water for the first time. He absolutely loved hearing their squeals of excitement and pure joy. It filled Julieta with such happiness and pride to see how amazing he was with their babies; his patience, his unconditional love, and his easy going goofiness were some of the things she loved most about him.
Shaking herself out of her thoughts, Julieta tickled little Mira's tummy and tried to pull her closer.
"Mira, bebita, stand still, please! Mamí needs to put this on your face so you don't burn!"
Mirabel looked adorable in her little two piece swimsuit, a white and turquoise set with ruffled edges and cute cartoonish butterflies. Her little white sandals were waiting by the door. Julieta knew Mirabel wouldn't last long in them, but she couldn't help it. They were so cute, and she knew they'd look even cuter on her little bebita.
Mira took both of her chubby little hands, and cupped her Mamí's cheeks with them.
"Face!"
"Yes, bebita, I need to put this on your face, so your pretty skin doesn't burn!"
"Mamá face pretty!"
Julieta didn't think she could fall more in love with this child, but here she was. Pressing their foreheads together, she attacked Mirabel's little face with kisses. The little girls' laughter rang through the house like the sweetest song.

Conversation
Isabela: *laughing hysterically*
Dolores: Stop laughing! This isn't a joke!
Isabela: But it's just so funny! After your five babies thing!
Dolores: Look, that was a joke! This is real!
Isabela: You brought this upon yourself! Ha! Didn't you want a big family?
Dolores: Of course I want a big family! I would love to have ten children! But not all at once! Me and Mariano have only been married a few months-
Mirabel, walking into the room: What's going on?
Isabela: Dolores is expecting quintuplets.

HAPPY MILK DAY‼️‼️🎊🎊🥳🥳🥳
For those who are confused: milk is now a meme in the Encanto fandom, somehow - and people came up with the idea for today to be an official milk day!
I've got more crack content coming👀👀 and a certain something for a birthday girl 👀👀👀👀 @glitternightingale,,, but first! Here's some wholesome fluff! 💕💕
~
Summary: Pepa and Julieta bond over the comfort that is breastfeeding.
~~
It was a coincidence that their first pregnancies were so close, with Isabela being slightly older than Dolores; although it was difficult to adjust to the noise of a baby's cry, doubled, it did end up coming in handy: the girls could calm each other down, play with each other and give their working parents a well deserved break, without even realising it.
Julieta's second pregnancy was the first she pioneered without a twin situation by her side-but like everything her sister did, she did it perfectly... All until she started having complications. Luisa was a hefty baby, Pepa never thought she'd ever see a baby bump that big. When her niece was born, she was all tub and endearing wrinkles, she was beautiful. But Julieta had been exhausted; weak and frail, so unlike her usually. Her lower half stained with blood; it was a day full of complicated feelings.
But! Now they were back in action, the Madrigal sisters, cooking up buns in synchronisation again! This time, Pepa's would be slightly older, which made for some good childish banter. Mamá still insisted they work, always had while they were pregnant - but maybe the lingering thought of Julieta's previous due date changed her... Because she was assigning them significantly less labour than before. This gave them plenty of free time, most of which was with their husbands and brother; Félix and Agustín weren't magical descendants, them being out and about didn't really help any, especially Agustín - who caused more trouble than he was worth.
Bruno was naturally a shut in, with good reason. Pepa and Julieta accepted this, knowing how he felt without him having to describe it; they were triplets. They were so happy to be spending more time with their baby brother.
Another source of happiness, was daydreaming about their babies. Bruno had already managed to predict that Pepa would be having a boy. The first boy since himself! This was a momentous occasion! He'd be treated like the little prince he was, Pepa was so thrilled! Her elder sister was still waiting in anticipation. They sometimes talked about the prospect of having two boys and how amazing that'd be! But Juli was adamant she was having another girl.
"I can just tell, my little Mariposa." She’d say, patting her round belly.
One afternoon, their conversations lead to the sweetest of topics:
"I missed feeding Luisa so much when she stopped." Juli reminisced, rocking gently in her chair, "The bonding felt more intense than with Isa, such a comforting feeling, I especially needed it back then."
Pepa nodded enthusiastically.
"Yes! Me too with Dolores! I can't wait to have that feeling again."
A rainbow materialised above their heads.
A few months later, Camilo Madrigal was born. Indeed, the first Madrigal boy since Bruno, Alma was especially proud, kissing her grandson and her daughter on their flushed cheeks. Because Julieta was out of commission, being heavily pregnant herself, the clean-up effort was done by the men (well, that isn’t to say they didn’t help before- but Julieta was definitely the ringleader of the operation). Félix held his son, rocking him expertly to sleep whilst simultaneously, passionately kissing his wife, Agustín changed his sister in law's sheets, and Bruno cleaned her face with a damp rag.
The sun had shone brighter that day.
Mirabel Madrigal soon followed, a miracle baby. She was so easy to birth and cried softly, almost as if she knew about her cousin's hearing and wanted to be courteous. A selfless little girl, right from the start.
Months past since that day and today, a gorgeously sunny sky was painted above, for all to see and Bruno Madrigal was left to babysit his older nieces. They played with their new siblings and saw them plenty- but there were also times they were meant to leave them alone. They had been asking for them all morning; Bruno hadn’t seen his sister’s or their babies at all today, nor did he hear them. What if they were all sleeping and he disturbed them? Dolores confirmed that they were napping for a brief period.
He left it for about half an hour before knocking on the nursery door, carefully. A voice from within prompted him to open it. He peaked his head inside, keeping the rambunctious children behind his thin legs, just in case.
“The girls want to see the bebés.” Bruno took in the scene: Mira and Cami were missing from their twin cribs, across from Luisa's bed. They were instead, in their mother’s arms, both of which, were sat in two respective chairs, looking fresh faced and well rested. He noticed how his niblings were eating, cautiously, he pushed the door back towards him, unsure if his sisters would allow them in right now. “Is this a good time?”
However, Pepa and Julieta smiled.
“Sure, come on in, Brunito, niñas.”

At those words, Isa finally broke through the barrier that was her uncle and threw open the door; thankfully, Bruno caught it before it could slam against the wall- Isabela, Dolores and Luisa walked in, well, Dolores walked, her cousins practically sprinted.
To make sure the girls wouldn’t try anything, Bruno pulled Isa and Luisa into his lap after sitting on the latter’s bed. Dolores sat beside him, unprompted and polite. He could trust her to behave.
“What are you doing?” Isabela bluntly asked, a twinge of annoyance in her voice; she expected Mirabel to be more... alive. Not stuck to their mother, eyes closed and lips pursed.
“They’re feeding your brother and your sister.” Bruno explained.
Luisa craned her neck this way and that, “I don’t see a bottle.”
“No, Luisa, it comes from our bodies.” Pepa snorted.
“Blood?!” Isabela chimed in, smile big and fists clenched, Bruno bounced her on his knee. Luisa groaned in disgust and pulled on his ruana.
“Tío Brunito, tell her to stop!”
Bruno died a little inside- his sisters laughed at his expense. No amount of eye rolls could convey his disappointment.
“Didn’t we tell you to stop calling your tío that?” Julieta giggled.
“But you guys call him it.” Luisa frowned.
“It’s different.” Pepa smiled, shaking her head amusedly.
“It’s not blood, Isa, it’s milk.” Bruno booped her nose, trying to move on from what just happened as quickly as possible.
“Huh? Milk?”
“Hmm mm.”
“I thought everyone knew that.” Dolores mumbled, incredulous.
“That’s so cool.” Isa said, a breeze of flowers passed through her hair, confirming her statement, “Does it come in your favourite flavour?”
Bruno chuckled, as did his sisters. Dolores looked expressionless to the untrained eye- but the triplets could tell she was bursting to scold her cousin for her naïveté.
“No, amor, just ordinary milk.” Pepa said.
“When do they eat normal?” Luisa babbled, trying to climb up her mother’s arm.
“Soon but not yet, just liquids for now.” Julieta beamed. Bringing down a hand to stroke her toddler’s cheek.
“Why?” She nuzzled into her calloused palm. The adults breathed a huff of mirth at the common question.
“Their teeth haven’t come out yet.” Dolores hushed, finally having enough, it seemed. “The sound of them is horrible!” the little girl covered her ears, as if saying it would bring about the sound.
“Aww...” Bruno stroked her hair; she hugged his side, pushing her face into the green wool of his clothes.

“So, are you sure they don’t come in different flavours?” Isabela sounded sceptical. “Because they’re still drinking and I don’t think plain milk is that good.” Sassily flipping her hair, she stood, attempting to draw her sister’s attention away from this apparently, irresistible, completely ordinary milk.
“Mira! Hurry up, I want to play with you!”

Laughter filled Casita.
