I finally got around to watching P5, ofc I had to draw my fav 🥺 Not sure if I'll finish it, since it's just a sketch, but I so very much wanna draw more Risotto's (and Proscuitto's for that matter)❤️

The last time I read the manga was around 2009, and since then P5 always stuck with me. Back then I was hoping for an anime adaptation so badly, but it was looking dire. I remember playing the PS2 Vento Aureo game hours on end to get my fill, and buying discounted figures at a con for €1 each because no one knew what Jojo was (let alone part 5) and no one had any interest in buying ugly 10 old merch from the late 90s/early 00s.

Either way, my hype for Jojo subsided over the years and long story short, I finally got around to watching the anime recently and everything just came back to me lol. I love this series to death. Risotto and Proscuitto have always been my favorite ever since first having read the manga, and I still love them so much and wish they got more screentime. The anime added more scenes with them which is already a blessing, but I'm still craving for more so fanart time it is 🥹❤️

You got a nice seat near the bar, and right into the view of the ocean and the pool. You closed your eyes to see if you can have a moment of rest till you feel two pair of hands grab your body as you jump. “Woah— you two know that I hate the cold!!” You said, as your two little baby’s giggled and ran back to Price, who was laughing his ass off.

“David, Max, get back here let your mommy get some rest.” He said, rubbing his eyes and you hummed. “Well I’m no longer tired… help me up.” You said, as you where perfectly able to get up, but Price came to the rescue. “Gotcha love, don’t want my doll to fall.” He said and chuckled lightly, as you blushed, and slapped his chest playfully. You slowly stepped into the water and shivered slightly, cursing quietly.

“This water is freezing-“ you started to speak, but Priced hummed and went to push you into the deeper end of the water, as you screamed.

“JOHN!!” You said, as you fully fell in, and your two little boys went over to you and played with you under the water as you smiled, you got out of the water and flipped your hair like some cheesy 90s movie, and somehow, someway, you made Price blush. “Lord, you look like a princess that was stowed away in a tall tower.” He said and kissed you, as the two boys made gross faced and made throw up noises. You laughed lightly as he went over to grab them and play with them, as you watched.

Your brain went back to the day he came home from the base, as he grabbed his two sons, then you, and held you all close to him. How his face looked when he told you he had three months of staying home with you and the boys. How he planned a nice trip for a week and a half at a nice resort in Mexico, where the kids can enjoy their time and you can finally relaxed at a nice spa.

He repeated to you this was going to be a better honeymoon than the last, due to he had to go back to work in the middle of it. It broke both of you, but you did get two of the most beautiful twins you two could ever ask for.

Back to the present, you and John where treading the water as you watched the two boys in their pink floats, which the boys had picked, and wearing camouflage themed swimsuits that John thought looked good on them, and you agreed. You hummed as you looked at the beach from the pool, as the birds that lived there dipped into the water and out catching their next lunch. You leaned onto John’s chest, feeling his now wet chest air hit your back and made small little goosebumps appear.

“Hmm… John mind getting me a-“

“A cherry vodka? I know your weird little tastes.” He cut in, as you giggled.

“You know me best.” You said and kissed the bottom of his chin, as he purred.

“Learned from the best.” He said and headed over to the pool side bar, as you watched his muscles move and the tattoos he got of your name, and the two little names of the twins. You smiled and turned around to the little ones, and went to play with them as you waited for John to get back.

John hummed as he waited for the drinks he ordered, then felt a hand on his shoulder that scared the shit out of him, and almost went to punch the person behind him, only to stop and go wide eyed.

“Ghost? Wasn’t expectin’ you to pop out so soon.” A small chuckle escaped John’s lips as Ghost hummed. “Mmm… wanted a drink.” He explained, as soap was trialing behind, smiling brightly. “Heyo cap’! Talk about a nice resort! Good pick.” He said and ordered himself something as well, and John hummed.

“All for the missus.” He explained, pointing out you as you held both Max and David in your arms, twirling them around with a laugh and an infectious smile. John couldn’t help but smile as well as Gaz, who finally decided to swim up, hummed. “You gotta pick a nice resort but the water is fuckin’ freezin…”

“Hey! Better than diving into the—“

“No work talk Soap, or I’ll force you to the cold waters.” John snapped, as he tried to defend himself, but nothing came out of his mouth as John got up. “Ya’ll can either stay back or come up to introduce yourself to the missus.” He said and walked back to you

John handed you your glass as you thanked him with a small kiss. “I thought you fell into one of the suctions things.” You said and took a sip of the drink and hummed. “Yummy…” you whispered as he chuckled, kissing your neck as he watched the two boys play in the water with a camouflage ball.

“They are gonna be like you in the future, you know that.” You whispered to him, and he smirked. “Well, I already have three kids I work with that will be me one day, two more that are of my blood will be what I want.” He explained and rubbed your scarred shoulders, kissing each little detail.

“Besides, my three kids are here.”

“I am excited to meet them, shall I wear my best dress?”

“You can wear my shirt and a pair of pants and I’ll still call you a princess.” You both laughed at his statement, as you splashed some water at the two boys with your empty hand, and took another sip of your drink as you hummed.

You successfully put your two little ones to bed, after reading them three books and a comfortable pair of pajamas, you sighed happily as you nodded to yourself, and started to get ready. You put on the dress John bought you right before his last deployment, a silky black dress, which went down to your knees, the sides open to reveal your waist that John can’t stop touching when navigating you around the resort. A pair of sandals that were comfortable but stylish, and John’s favorite color lipstick.

You silently walked out of the room, smiling as you closed the door, putting your keycard in your phone case. You remember which room John said he will be staying at while you put the kids to sleep and your dress on, and walked with a small bit of pep in your step.

“301… 301… 30- there!” You mumbled to yourself, and rang the little doorbell it had. The door opened to Gaz, who was the third tallest of the group, who smiled. “Well, hello Mrs. Price. I think you have the wrong room.” He said for you to go wide eyed and start looking around as he laughed. “I’m jokin’ miss. Come inside he’s in the bathroom getting ready.” He said, opening the door wide for you as you walked it. Soap and Ghost were talking to Price through the door, and Soap eyed you with a smile. “The special lady is he-“ the door opened wide, nearly hitting Ghost, as John smiled weakly, then went wide eyed as he stood frozen.

“Are you sure you’re my wife? I seem to have seen an Angel.” He said, to make you flustered and play with your hair. “John you’re making me embarrassed in front of your kids.” You explain, and the three looked at John, who he in return, laughed nervously.

“Captain never told us we were his kids!” Soap said with a loud laugh, and Ghost hummed. “You’re more of a kid than me and Gaz combined.” He deadpanned, and Gaz nodded. “Yea Soap, I’m amazed you’re still in 141.” Gaz explained, and then looked at you.

“Man- we haven’t even introduced ourselves! I’m Gaz, this is Soap,” Soap waves happily with his large smile, “and that’s Ghost. Don’t worry he won’t bite.” Gaz explained and Ghost nodded to you, and eyed John. “You never told us how your wife makes you more nervous than I have ever seen you before.” Ghost explained as everyone looked at John, and he choked on the air.

“Well- I never got to see her in this dress… it’s…” he couldn’t make out words, as he walked over to you, and held your cheeks. “Aren’t you a sight…” he went to your ear, and whispered a very quiet, “mine” in your ear, making you shiver and giggle, slapping his chest as he held his hand. “In front of your kids? How nasty~” you explained, and he went red as he looked at the three, as they were turned away, Soap getting hit in the head by Ghost for a small comment he made that you nor John heard.

“Well, I am gonna take this beautiful princess to a nice dinner.” He said, breaking the silence with a clap and smiled lightly to you. You hummed and walked outside, as John looked at the three with a stern look, then turned to you with a warm smile.

Sorry about your trouble with Cyno and Tighnari :( I totally get the frustration of just seeing something as a cute friendship and having 90% of the fandom see them as romantic.

We live in a society (the genshin fandom). Us platonic Cyno and Tighnari enjoyers have to stick together✊

With that being said, I've been kinda on a Collei and Tighnari brainrot the past few weeks sooo, hope you don't mind if I ramble about them👀

Can I just say, how much I adore their dynamic. Whether it's father/daughter or big brother/little sister, they're so sweet and care about each other so much🥹 On Collei's side, besides Amber, Tighnari was one of the first people she's ever opened up to, or has felt comfortable around. He's so kind and patient with her and she's really grateful for it!! (Her relationship with Cyno is similar but I do think it was a little awkward at first since Cyno reminded her of her past...)

And on Tighnari's side, well, at first he saw her as a student. But he immediately felt this...urge to help her. Like she had been through so much, and he felt like he had to try and help her in some way. (You brother comes in at the middle of the night asking you to take care of this random traumatized child wyd). He enjoyed getting to know her, and teaching her. And he felt such a strong sense of pride when she gets a good grade in a test, or is able to write something coherently. Overtime, he got to see more of her, more of her personality and quirks, and he developed so much affection for her, treating her like he would a little sister💞

I do think that maybe Collei has trouble talking to him about things. Maybe since she's scared of being judged (she knows he wouldn't, but the feeling is still there). So she ended venting to trees. I like to imagine one day, Tighnari was looking for her when he overheard her talking to a tree. At first he was like "why is she doing that??" But decided to leave since he didn't wanna eavesdrop. But then, he caught her talking about HIM.

"Master Tighnari is so patient and kind with me... I know he would never judge me, or make me feel bad. But...I still find it hard to talk to him. He's usually busy...I don't wanna bother him."

And that just broke his heart :( He wanted Collei to feel comfortable talking to him, he WANTED her to come to him whenever she had a problem. He left, but after that, he would subtly encourage her to talk to him if she needed to, reminding her that she wasn't a bother or anything like that, and that he cared about her. And it made her happy to hear!! And she slowly started coming to him more often!!

Also SLIGHT fremillei (I'm sorry I can't escape the chokehold they have on me) I picture this scene, where after Collei finds out about Freminet being apart of the Fatui, Collei immediately runs home, so many emotions going through her head. Hurt, fear, guilt- she's so overwhelmed. She arrives back and while she's passing by Tighnari's house (house? Cottage?? What do you call those?😭) he calls out to her, noticing something's wrong. She stops, and looks at Tighnari, breathing heavy from running. She doesn't know where to begin, what she should tell him, IF she should tell him. But, she looks at him, looks at the concern on his face, and runs towards him and hugs him tightly, sobbing into his chest. Tighnari is confused, but he doesn't question it, and immediately wraps his arms around her.

"It's okay...I'm here."

I'M SO SORRY FOR THE LONG ASK BUT THEY'VE BEEN ON MY BRAIN. I feel like not a lot of people talk about them alone, which kinda sucks since their relationship is so sweet :(

On modern Laikó, Bouzoukia and Vasilis Karras

Many difficult words, I know 🥹 I have talked before about some genres that are specific to Greek music; one of them is Laikó, which developed during the 50s-60s from rembétiko music. Laiko means "by or for the people" and it can roughly be translated as "popular music". At the time, however, it sounded nothing like what is known as pop in western music scene. It was called laiko because it wasn't chamber or classical upscale music - it was music addressed to everyday people whom it was expressing, their joys, their sufferings, their experience.

In the 80s, laiko music evolved more and diverged into what is now "modern laiko". We can safely say that classic laiko and modern laiko are now quite different genres, different enough that one can like one but not the other, but both express the feelings of everyday people. Modern laiko especially focused on love and heartbreak songs.

The popularity of modern laiko was established in Greek nightlife entertainment venues that are called "bouzoukia". Bouzoukia did develop around 50s-60s too, as taverns with musicians and dancers, however they morphed into their current form around the 80s like the modern laiko music. They go hand in hand.

Bouzoukia are now large venues with live music that open late at night and usually shut at dawn. People usually sit at tables and get drinks there, although some offer food as well. People also dress up to go there, especially women don glitzy dresses. Most bouzoukia have a music program featuring two singers or more. The quality of the singer and the music played depends on the shop and can vary greatly - from plain bad (which earned them the nickname σκυλάδικα - skyládika, dog places) to some of the most famous singers of the laiko / pop music scene. This can also be argued for modern laiko in general; it can vary from instant classics to cheap songs made purely for entertainment. The classic laiko, on the other hand, has way more consistent quality, if not guaranteed.

The way you show your enjoyment or appreciation for the music / singing in bouzoukia has become a well known trait of the Greeks. In bouzoukia Greeks open champagnes or other bottles of drinks and offer them to the singers, they break plates, they throw napkins or they buy disks with flowers - usually carnations or roses - with which they rain on the object of their appreciation; the singer, someone who dances, a person from their company etc

One of the most famous singers of modern laikó and one of the most emblematic figures of bouzoukia was Vasilis Karrás, who passed away a couple of days ago, but I thought of making this post after Christmas.

Vasilis Karras was also a composer and lyricist besides singer, however he was especially loved for his heavy, masculine voice which went well with his trad streetwise looks. He represented the old-school man, the brooding archetype with the good, honest heart . He was a person loved and respected by his peers, known for his generosity. He passed away at the age of 70 after COVID-19 complications and a long battle with cancer.

And as a tribute song, even more so like the proper 90s child I am, what more appropriate choice than ΓΥΡΙΣΕ ( COME BACK). Fun fact: the song is also known by a verse in the chorus, Σπάει η φωνή μου σίδερα (Spai i foní mu síthera), which means "my voice bends iron" and, as you understand, it is one of the most memorable lyrics in Greek pop culture.

EDIT: It's trending now and I stumbled onto it; Unboxholics, popular YouTubers, made a tour video in Karras' farm and his collection of vintage cars two years ago - he was evidently a man who loved life and wanted others to enjoy it with him. I see why his fans call him "big guy", "lord" and "king".

About my OC Chiffany baby!

Her name is Tara, but Chucky calls her "Bunny" because she's loved bunnies since she was 2 or 3. 🥹

Her middle name is Pamela, which is my headcanon name for Tiffany's mother. Tara Pamela Ray.

She is a Cinnamon Roll™️ type, absolutely NOTHING like her parents!

She became Christian in her late-ish teens sort of out of rebellion against her parents (she's not preachy or bigoted about it, though), but also because she hopes it'll, like... keep the evil out of her, I guess?

During BoC, she comes home from staying at a friend's overnight to find that her father is back... as a doll. When she walks in, he realizes it's her, and addresses her as "Bunny!" from the crib he's locked in, terrifying the poor girl. She leaves again to go back to her friend's later that day, not returning until the next day when her parents have already left with Jesse & Jade. Somehow, she meets up with David, and ends up on the rest of the road trip with them.

After the events of BoC (when she was 14), she would've lived with Jesse and Jade, since I'm pretty sure that Jesse was at least 18 and thus, could be her legal guardian.

Between 2004 and 2009, Tiffany (as Jennifer) is able to find her, and they reunite. She is, of course, appalled that her mother stole someone else's life, but she loves her baby siblings.

She was such a late 90's/early 2009's teen girl. She totally loved Britney and 'NSYNC and BSB because I SAID SO. (Let's... ignore what happened in Seed. 😒)

A little costest I did some weeks back. My phone might've washed out part of the stitches OTL also plucked out 90% of my eyebrows for this mf. Gotta say the obscured vision in one eye is pretty draining too 🥲

Happy 10th anniversary AoT and congrats on the finale! 🎊 Never expected to stick around any anime for this long tbh. I recall watching the very first trailer and the immediate interest from Kaji Yuki casting and Sawano's OST, and of course, we all witnessed the hype that came as quickly as it went.

It felt like any hype in my local community had long been extinguished by the time S2 rolled around, but I was hooked way more and quickly found myself lurking Reddit subs for content. Side characters became so interesting I forgot Levi was absent that season, though in the first place I never actually was a Levi stan. I love that the story doesn’t ride on “humanity’s strongest” or any popular simp-able character to be engaging, rather the opposite at how much it values the flawed and ordinary. I love how dishonest, contradictory and irrational so many of them are, how you gotta pay attention and measure up what they do vs what they say vs what they think. No surprise that voice acting sessions often spill into overtime (sometimes seiyuu themselves opt for do-overs even after their takes were approved) because slight changes in the delivery of certain lines can convey potentially opposite meanings. Took me years later revisiting S1 to notice recurring themes and foreshadowing to even real-world developments, e.g. jabs at moralism before it became a hot topic, and today with wars and reactions to them. It has in no small amount influenced how I look at people and the world; not what I signed up for when I started out but wouldn’t have it any other way.

idk how else to put it other than Yams is a terrifying writer for his age. I've lately picked up Breaking Bad because of him (still on S4 no spoilers pls). Already drawing several thematic parallels between the two; notably addiction and self-deception.

It just hit me how big a deal vic & usagi’s dapg commission is. It’s not for a merch like legalise catboys art. This is them meaning business & planning ahead for the channel, deliberately hiring fandom artists to create art that speaks to us, for us.

DAPG is truly back for us 🥺

And actually more importantly, THIS is what we’ve been asking dan and phil to do: properly compensate fandom creators when using the work commercially. It’s late but at least they’re doing that now, which is more than what 90% creators are doing. I’m.. 🥹🥹

They could’ve gone the old way of using fan art created after the fact to promote the content. It’d only be a day tbh coz we’re fast, and we’d be happy & excited enough for their notice that we wouldn’t even expect anything back.

But I feel like they’re saying “if we’re doing this now, we gotta do it right.” And they did!

What’s the next step? Hope I’m not sounding like I’m moving the goalposts. What they’re doing is wonderful already and I’m so happy for usagi, for vic, and especially for us. But there’s something more that can be done for sure.

Compensation for the community captioners perhaps? They truly deserve it and everyone knows it.

Oh and putting image descriptions in alt text to all their media will help so much with accessibility.

Every time I see Elvis singing to children in his movies I picture him singing to Lisa Marie Presley. What would Elvis sing to his baby girl, I wonder. Either it was his own songs, one of those he sang in the movies, or traditional children songs, that would've been so cute to watch! 🥹

But... Elvis' love for children is dated way back to when Lisa probably wasn't even a dream to Elvis.

Elvis' love and affection for his young fans was visible. Any time he met with his fans and there was a tiny new born/infant, a toddler or a child among them, the little one immediately caught Elvis' attention. He is seeing in many, many moments, holding his fans' babies in his arms. Not only his fans babies - I have to say this because you can think he used to hold his fans babies just to 'put up an image' and make himself more likable to his adult audience but it wasn't the case, believe me. Since the 50s (at least, as we have photos to attest only after he begun his music career), Elvis loved children. He was so tender towards any children since always! There's pictures of him with his friends' babies, his family's babies, his coworkers' babies and even playing with his children costars between filming his movies. He was a natural with them. Elvis loved kids and the kids loved Elvis back. ♥

By the way, Elvis also did stand for such vital, important causes for children, over the years! Talking about the Polio vaccine and the 'March of Dimes' campaign, to which EP was one of the voices to, a supporter and a great asset to this cause since the 50s.

Elvis is pictures with Mary Kosloski (photos 1 -2), Joanne Wilson (3) and Robert Marquette (4); all three children victims of the Polio disease and the faces for the March of Dimes campaigns over the late 50s. But that's another story (an excellent and specially lovely one chapter in Elvis Presley's and the world's history).

Is that clear yet? ELVIS LOVED CHILDREN.

That being said, did you know there's Elvis albums specially made for children?

Previously I already knew there was (at least) one Beatles album for children ("All You Need Is Love: Beatles Songs For Kids", released in 1999), but now I found out Elvis too has albums specially for his young fans. That is what I truly intend to share with you today. ♥

There's at least two of them: "Elvis Sings for Children and Grownups Too!", released by RCA Victor in 1978 — You can hear the '40th anniversary edition' full album here (Youtube); and "Elvis Sings for Kids" released in 2002.

One thing's for sure: If you have a children's birthday party to attend or you're a happy parent or at least has a child in the family (or close friends group) and wants to give them the best gift they will be thankful for, specially when they grow up — believe me, the first CD/VINYL a child is gifted with is unforgettable for them (mine was a Britney Spears' one, 90s child haha, and I love it but I'd rather it have been one of the King's ones, sure) — you can take the opportunity and gift that lucky child with an Elvis Presley album specially designed for them. ♥

AHS Hotel Deleted Scenes Theories

Sometimes in promos or featurettes snippets of scenes are shown that never make it into the final cut of the episodes. There are a few from American Horror Story: Hotel that I really wish we could've seen so I'm going to list them here along with my theories of what they may have been.

The post-sex scene

This is a snippet from the promo for episode 5 "Room Service" and for the longest time I assumed the Countess' hair was reminiscent of the late 80s/early 90s and this was a flashback. However, I am now convinced that this scene is actually from episode 11 "She Gets Revenge" and I'll tell you why.

This gif is from the actual scene in the episode. Notice how the setup with The Countess smoking in the front and Ramona standing in the back is the same (just in a different location)? That is how I first noticed the parallel.

The reason why I think the deleted snippet happened after is because for one, when the Countess opened the doors to her bedroom in the actual episode, her bed was made and tidy. In that snippet you may notice in the background the sheets are messy as if someone had just been in that bed. The Countess is wearing the same makeup and nails as in the episode and her hair looks like it was the same style and she just let it down during their love session. I'm not sure where Ramona got that orange dress but I assume it would be from the Countess' closet.

I really wish we had gotten this scene because I am very curious what their conversation after they had sex was like and how Ramona eventually decided to spare her life.

This snippet was shown in a sort of fall preview promo for the FX networks. My best guess is that in this scene Ramona was in the Countess' penthouse for the first time (in 1977) and admiring her art collection. I can imagine that this clip was maybe shot to be shown when Ramona talks about how the Countess knew everything about art and literature (there is also a deleted scene where she's flipping through a book, which I'll get to in a moment).

How I know this scene is set in the 70s is because of 3 things. Number 1, her hair looks the same as it did in the 70s scenes we got to see. Her curls aren't as defined as in her present-time hairstyles. Number 2, her eye makeup is golden-metallic. If you look at her different makeup looks you will notice that her eye shadow in the 70s was always golden, whereas in 2015 it is always lilac purple-ish metallic (which was also popular in the 70s and may symbolize how she's still yearning to go back to that time). And number 3, the art piece she's admiring is not on display in Elizabeth's penthouse in the present. A somewhat similar figure could also be seen in the background of this behind the scenes clip of a scene that also took place in the 70s, though.

That shows how the Countess had different pieces of art on display in different decades.

This behind the scenes footage is from a featurette. Angela Bassett has talked about how she had to sign a nudity waiver for this season but, though we got a sensual scene between her and the Countess, we never actually saw her in the nude. I wonder if they also shot a more revealing sex scene and it just didn't make the cut but the closest we know of that Angela came to being nude this season is this snippet.

Ramona is nude wrapped in Elizabeth's blanket, implicating they just had sex, and flipping through a book. I can imagine this was possibly meant to be shown when she talked about the Countess' love for literature.

This scene may very well be the same one I just discussed because I am convinced she is looking at Ramona sitting on the couch here. Why? Because her hair is the same style it was when she met Ramona and her nails are still red, too. It looks like she just changed into a different dress. And also the look in her eyes and the faint smirk is very similar to how she looked at Ramona before, indicating romantic interest in whoever she's looking at (Ramona).

We don't know who the Countess is pointing at here exactly in this behind the scenes footage. But we do know that Ryan Murphy originally tweeted that "Angela will be making lots of trouble with Gaga in the ballroom and elsewhere."

The ballroom scenes are set in the late 70s when the Countess and Ramona started dating. However, Ramona is nowhere to be seen, likely due to the fact that she didn't get introduced until an episode later. Which is unfortunate because it would've been a lot of fun to see her in the ballroom and also given more context as to why it was Elizabeth's favorite time period.

That concludes my findings of deleted scenes from AHS: Hotel. I hope you enjoyed this little deep dive and are just as disappointed as I am that we didn't get to see these gems so that hopefully one day Ryan will release them for our viewing pleasure. It's especially sad because both the Countess and Ramona deserved a lot more sceen time, so to see they did originally have more scenes is frustrating. But alas I am grateful we got the scenes that we have at all.

@hprecfest day 31: fav among favs

Last day of 2023!! Last prompt of the magnificent HP rec fest!!! This fest has given me so much joy and introduced me to a bunch of new stories to read (which I probably would never even considered to read if it weren't for this fest) for the past month 🥹 December went by so fast, 2023 went by even faster. I’ve been in and out of the fandom for the last too many years, more out than in to be honest, but this year I crashlanded back to HP fanfiction which honestly is my safe haven even after all these years. Further ado, fav among favs which my silly little words will never do justice:

The Brightest Constellations of Our Souls by @thecouchsofa 🩵 256,402 words, draco/harry

Harry doesn’t know how to cope after the War. The only things that make him feel even remotely normal again are taking risks while flying and fighting with Malfoy. It’s not likely to end well. Or, Draco becomes obsessed with ‘Wonderwall’, reads Muggle books, and drives a campervan, while Harry slowly falls in love with Draco. A story about travelling around the British Isles in the late 90s while healing deep scars.

My life can be divided to before and after this fic. I like to think that I didn’t find this story but the other way around - this story found me. And since it is a new fic, posted in the course of last six months I truly do believe it was meant to be I'd come back to the fandom via this story.

This fic is really fucking precious to me and I'm like a healthy-ish amount of emotional about it. First of all it's incredibly well-written, the style of the whole story is very straight-forward but at the same time extremely detailed, immersive and beautiful, sentence after sentence. Even though I love longfics (and this is definitely a longfic with 250k) they can feel a bit dragged out at times, but the way this story is paced and organized I never had that feeling reading this. I felt like each and every word of this story was essential, nothing too much, nothing too little.

This story does come with a little cw from the author. This fic is heavy, really fucking heavy at times, but there is so much light and eventual happiness to balance it out. One of the reasons I love this story so much is that it feels so relatable, it's raw and real to me in so many ways. Harry is my ultimate favorite character out of all the fandoms and characters out there, and the Harry we get served in this fic is godsent. His gradual healing with Draco during their little travels is really moving and touching. Babes.

It's extremely slow burn. Like the burn is so slow the fire is completely out most of the story. But then there's these small things along the way; like Draco's wet left shoulder from the rain and getting almond croissants all the way from Edinburgh that feed the flame and just wreck the shit out of me. And this fic drags you through the mud and minefields right before (and/or during) getting to the part where something actually happens between them. The way their relationship builds along the story is magnificent and emotional. And when we finally get to part where the slow burn pays off and flames lick every inch of my rotten body this fic has some class A smut that I file in the category of "so good I cried". Although, I did manage to cry for nearly the entirety of this story.

This fic definitely is a journey, and it's a long, at times difficult and gut-wrenching, but in the end it's a journey I'm really fucking glad I took. This is a fic I think everyone should at least give a chance to, it'll steal your heart.

All in all, this is a very, very dear story to me on every level possible. Thank you so much @thecouchsofa for writing it, I'm beyond in love with this story and I'm so glad I happen to exist on this planet at the same time as you and your brilliant, beautiful stories 💕

The only character who comes close is Laurent from Captive Prince (let's just say, who is really the captive prince?). If you haven't read all three books, you must (they're not sequels, all three comprise the full story - Book 2 Prince's Gambit is the incredible crescendo!).

What are you faves that you'd recommend to your fans? I love how Tilrey is so real and cool, and everything he goes through is SO hot & sad yet also still so real

I wish I had better recs for you, but the truth is I've been so busy writing this for the past six years that I've been reading a lot less. There's a comment thread here where I make a couple of recs and the commenter makes many more that I'm eager to read when I can.

The Doctrine of Labyrinths series has an MC a little like Tilrey and another character a little like Bror, but warning, they are definitely not a pairing! @veliseraptor has written some great fics for that series (I love all their work!).

Now this is going back to prehistory, maybe, but a big influence on me was Sylvia's X-Files fics from the late '90s. Their Krycek is a hitman/seducer who has gone through incredible trauma. I've had no luck finding the full-length novel The Gift of an Enemy online, but I love the story "Partners." This was the inspiration for how Tilrey's "responsiveness" conditioning is described. The Mulder in this AU story is basically a younger, hotter Malsha: "He needed to dig into other people's minds, crawl into their heads and exhume the moldering skeletons they had buried deep down in the cellar of their souls. It was his addiction. His vice." I honestly wish this fic had been turned into a novel or series, dark as it is.

There are also a few Supernatural fics I like, like the AU Freak Camp, but it's been taken down!! Anyway, I'm sorry not to have more recs, but maybe others can chime in.

I tried really hard to fit them into the aesthetics of the late 90s/early 2000s since that’s when the extremely goofy movie takes place :3 they’re hot messes with no boundaries, manners, or impulse control 🫶 trash women rights!!!!!

and gotta love that late 90s, early 00s nostalgia! i'm glad to support your csi/er rewatch through gifs, haha!

believe it or not, er fanfic was actually the very first fanfic i ever wrote, back in the day—before i even knew that "fanfiction" was a thing! back in the year 2000, at thirteen years old, i was so overcome with feelings about lucy's death that i wrote this sprawling "lucy lives" au in one of my school notebooks. only later did i learn that other people wrote fic, too!

i've always wanted to update that fic (now that i'm a more mature writer) and even have some notes in a doc about how i'd do so.

i've also got a few marsan au ideas floating around in my head.

that said, i don't anticipate that i'll get around to writing those fics any time soon, as, right now, i've very much got my plate full with my csi stories, and i'm such a slow writer that it may well be a long while yet before i finish up with them enough to be ready for another project.

it's nice to know that when i do get around to them, you might have an interest in reading, though!

God, I'm so happy for Leon! He hasn't been able to score a goal lately. He was constantly trying, he couldn't do it, it was noticeable how upset and angry he was. Now it happened, he was so happy, it was great to see him smile. I think it's such a relief for him.

Now on March 14, Nagelsman has to announce the line-up for NT, and I'm so nervous about it. Yes, there are a lot of players in the midfield right now, but Leon is in such great shape that it's a crime not to call him up. Even if Nagelsmann sees the midfield differently, it's stupid to give up a player like Leon because he can help the team. I am glad that Leon played such a good match right now before the announcement of the squad, he left no choice to the coach, and it would just be unfair if he stayed at home.

Same here 🥹 I know that it’s difficult for him to get on the scoresheet these days, especially since Tuchel tends to use him more defensively. Selfishly though, I’m so glad we got to see Leon Scoretzka make his triumphant return, not once, but twice!

It’s so good for his confidence too; after all, his performance was more than just his beautiful brace (although I’m sure he was proud of it—rightfully so); he was excellent all around. It was his perfectly-weighted assists and his constant involvement in the buildup, coupled with those two goals, that made him a veritable man of the match. He was Bayern’s motor, powering them to victory at every turn, both defensively and offensively.

It’s funny…Leon’s role on the pitch is intended to be subtle; he’s supposed to extinguish fires before they start, and to feed attackers with all the through-balls they could ever need. Nevertheless, it was impossible to overlook him against Mainz. I couldn’t help but think back to some of his best performances during Bayern’s treble-winning season; I mean, how could I not? What we saw vs. Mainz was the Leon we know and love—the Leon we’ve always known was in there, even if his powers have been somewhat subdued recently. After all, we’ve seen him perform like this before, and when he does, it’s hard not to fear the prospect of facing him.

Hell, if even Tuchel, who’s not exactly his biggest fan, was impressed with him, it says a great deal about just how good he was:

I’d love to be a fly on the wall when he catches up with them after the match. I don’t think even they could’ve expected him to carry Mainz around in his pocket for all 90 minutes 😂 regardless, I think I speak for everyone when I say it’d be awesome if those friends came around more often! Clearly they bring out the best in Leon, and their support means a lot to him :)

Ah yes, the dreaded March 14, looming as large over Leon’s head as it is for all of us who support him. Good thing Leon came out guns blazing against Mainz. Of the all the times to rediscover your form, right? 🤣 With nt call-ups right around the corner, getting Nagelsmann’s attention is definitely a good thing. Especially if you believe the current reports (which I’m taking with a grain of salt because I like to live in delusion 😅):

Even if it is a bit last minute, Leon put up a damn strong argument of why he belongs on the national team. Right now though, it’s all in Nagelsmann’s hands. Leon’s done everything he can. Now we just need to hold our breath and hope it was enough 🙏❤️
