I've been rewatching Once Upon A Time and can I just talk about how funny The Dark Curse is?
Most of the town makes sense, it puts people into lives that are sort of analogues of their fairy tale life, but also makes them miserable. Fair enough, you've got things like Snow White as a teacher who's unable to find love, or Hansel and Gretel as homeless children. Stuff like that which makes sense.
But than there's also:
Jefferson / The Mad Hatter who's curse is that he remembers everything, and also shows up in Storybrooke despite being in Wonderland when the curse hit?
Belle who just has complete amnesia and doesn't remember her life pre or post curse. (David doesn't either, but that kind of makes sense in context)
Dr. Whale / Dr. Frankenstein, who's from the world without color, so no idea what the hell he's even doing here. I don't think the show ever explains it.
Maleficent comes over IN HER DRAGON FORM, even though there isn't supposed to be magic in this world at all.
Rumpelstiltskin is able to put in a little loophole where he remembers who he is after hearing Emma's name, but he can't just loophole it so he remembers the whole time even though it's his spell.
Ruby / Red Riding Hood isn't a werewolf anymore, but still has her heightened wolf senses?

i found a book abt the anti lawn movement at the library & decided to sit out in my yard & read it. but ironically there was a neverending barage of power tool noises making it difficult to focus. so i walked to a nature park near me in order to escape the dreaded sounds. almost stopped at the mowed picnic table area bc i hate walking but fortunately pushed forward and made myself walk up an annoying hill to an area that is a preservation of a native oak savanna & sat down against a tree near the edge of the path & did my reading there. and honest to god that was a 100/10 experience. there was something so powerful abt being in a preserve for a locally native habitat while reading abt the impacts homeowners can have on native plant preservation! it powered up my energy towards my life mission (evangelize abt enviormentally sustainable gardening to every single person who comes within a 10 ft radius of me) by like. 15 points. also a deer walked up to me and that was super cool

watched some of the first episode of smallville and laughed so hard I couldn't finish it (not in a negative way but very much in a "help what is happening" way) (I feel like I need to watch it with a friend in the name of mutual bewilderment)
lana's parents waving at her and then getting HIT BY A METEOR is comedy. they just see it coming towards them and don't even run away before the early 2000s cgi gets them good
baby lex luthor getting HIS HAIR BLOWN OFF BY A METEOR. I'm sobbing. it's giving "he knocked the highlights out of her hair". his eyebrows r still there but oops you're an egg now.

been watching a bunch of dungeon meshi with my wife, and in the quiet time after we stop for the night, I can feel my brain continuing to work on how Japanese is shaped
whoever made that advice post I saw a while ago about watching tv to learn languages was right
I'm getting used to the rhythm and sounds, and picking up a few words and phrases (not many, not yet, but some!), and I'm not even putting much effort into it. I'm just watching tv. It's fun.
