Damn Tumblr for not accepting large files! Yeah, I did all the parts - chorus and all. Yep, I'm that insane. Just woke up with an insatiable urge to sing my lyrics...just in time for the eclipse to become irrelevant. 🫠 So obviously I departed from the original English (they wouldn’t have worked in context anyway, they’re so generic) and tried to stick as much to the German as possible. Hopefully this is still an improvement over the Dance the Vampire clusterfuck even with me singing to myself.
Total Eclipse (Totale Finsternis)
Vampires
Isn’t she lovely?
Isn’t she bright?
Young and enticing
An ingenue of night
See her
Finer than velvet
Glistening fair
She may be mortal
But in our secret lair
She’s damned!
Krolock & Vampires
Turn around
Sarah
Sometimes in the night I feel a void grow
Inside me, but I don’t know what I miss
Krolock & Vampires
Turn around
Sarah
Sometimes in the night the most fantastical dreams come,
As haunting as a blow or a kiss
Krolock & Vampires
Turn around
Sarah
Sometimes in the night I wait and hear someone call me
But it’s never clear to where I must go
Krolock & Vampires
Turn around
Sarah
Sometimes in the night I feel a shadow fall near me
Then I wish to leave the life I have known
Krolock & Vampires
Turn around, starling
Sarah
In the night I hear it call to me
Krolock & Vampires
Turn around, starling
Sarah
In the night I hear it call:
Krolock & Vampires
Turn around
Sarah
Sometimes in the night I feel enchantments around me
Coaxing me to just give in
Krolock & Vampires
Turn around
Sarah
Sometimes in the night I feel temptations surround me
They’re a mirror of my longing within
Krolock & Vampires
Turn around
Sarah
Sometimes in the night I wonder what I would dare do
To become a woman, fearless and free
Krolock & Vampires
Turn around
Sarah
Sometimes in the night I ponder what I would dare to
If I could fin’lly choose whom I’ll be
Krolock & Vampires
Turn around, starling
Sarah
In the night I hear it call to me
Krolock & Vampires
Turn around, starling
Sarah
An exquisite longing to be free!
Krolock
Then we’ll leave this world behind
In this bond entwined together
Far beyond this void of time
We shall die and live forever
Come with me to the depths of the night
In my arms you will find
A shadow world of love, a paradise of the night
The sun of midnight dawning, dreams of vice taking flight
You are the blood of life
Realized in mortal form
Sarah
Your words are like a flint
Making sparks in my heart
Both
I feel my essence alight!
Eternity shall start tonight
Eternity shall start
Krolock
Tonight
Sarah
Once upon a time I dreamed of losing my fear
Now I fear of losing my mind
There’s nothing I can do
I’m lost and I’m found for all time
Once upon a time I dreamed of giving my love
Now I rise and falling apart
There’s nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
Krolock & Vampires
Turn around
Sarah
Sometimes in the night I long to run and begin
To break this tie of fate
Krolock & Vampires
Turn around
Sarah
Sometimes in the night the voice of truth speaks within me
And already I know it’s too late
Krolock & Vampires
Turn around
Sarah
Sometimes in the night I would admit that I’ll never
Meet a miracle as wondrous as you
Krolock & Vampires
Turn around
Sarah
Sometimes in the night I get a glimpse of forever
And I see this ancient world fresh and new
Krolock & Vampires
Turn around, starling
Sarah
Every now and then it calls to me
Krolock & Vampires
Turn around, starling
Sarah
And I know I’m where I’m meant to be
Both
And we’ll leave this world behind
In this bond we’ll never sever
Far beyond the void of time
We shall die and live forever
Sink with me in the depths of the night
In my arms you will find
A shadow world of love, a paradise of the night
The sun of midnight dawning, dreams of vice taking flight
Krolock
You are the blood of life
Realized in mortal form
Sarah
Your words are like a flint
Making sparks in my heart
Both
I feel my essence alight!
Eternity shall start tonight
Eternity shall start
Krolock
Tonight
Sarah
Once upon a time I dreamed of losing my fear
Now I fear I’m losing my mind
Both
There’s nothing I can do
I’m lost and I’m found for all time
Sarah
Once upon a time I dreamed of giving my love
Krolock
Now I think I’m falling apart
Both
There’s nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
There’s nothing I can say
I’m rising and falling apart
Sarah
There’s nothing I can do
I rise and I’m falling apart
Krolock almost bites her.
Krolock
No, let’s not forget
The blood will run cold
Deferring the sweet
Will allow it to hold
Be patient
And soon the meaning of these
Hours shall be told
Sorrow is past us
And forever will call
In our sweet rapture
Dancing at our grand ball…

Hey, i know me my Omorashi artists (i spent more time in this kink than i should anyway)
The big thing *holding you back*? Badoom tss. Jokes aside i get it, but here's hoping you take the gamble like a certain blonde man with his name taken after a gem because a Biku Firefly would be probably the highlight of my week and month, even if only desperation!
I'll look at prices later, but no promises! Biku does great work, I love their art style regardless of the kink. One of my favorites is the when where a woman is squatting in somebody's flower garden peeing and then getting chased off, a large spurt escaping as they run-
Sorry, that distracted me. Yes, I would have a hard time deciding who would take priority for a commission, maybe even a double with both Stelle and Firefly if I'm too indecisive.
...it would make a nice pfp for me too that isn't just a recolor of an existing sketch.

#94. Olde But Golde Apartment
More pictures of this build you can find in my Instagram.
Zen View, 701 has good potential of small apartment with great view (probably pretty zen-ish *badoom-tss*). I don't like second floor of this place so... we won't need it. Yes, you will get full one bedroom apartment for this place.
But, let's be honest, it will work with rectangular Chic Street apartment too but it will need couple of adjustments in hallway which can be easily fixed with TOOL mod :D
1 bedroom, 1 bathroom
Keypoints were playtested but we all know this game, it can stop working after a second of everything being ok, ugh
CC-list and some CC pieces are included
You will have to turn bb.moveobjects on before placing. You have to have your game fully updated to use this build. You will need City Living EP for this to work:
Please, give me a credit if you use this lot, ‘cause I want to know if I was helpful to someone with my creations. Thank you!
Thanks to @aroundthesims @awingedllama @budgie2budgie @charlypancakes @faded-springs @hanraja @harrie-cc @felixandresims @leaf-motif @lustrousims @littledica @madameriasims4 @maxsus @peacemaker-ic @pierisim @plumbobteasociety @ravasheencc @s-imagination @imfromsixam for your wonderful CC, this build won’t be possible without your creations!

What drew you to my OC?

LRLL RLRR
TL;DR: Boom pap badap badoom doom boom.
I’m doing something a little different this time and talking about my primary instrument: drums.
Normally each of my articles are either an album review, an opinion piece on some general music idea, or a self-indulgent rant about my experiences with music. For example: Ninth Time’s the Charm, Death Cab For Cutie Syndrome, and Chronicles of Lyric, respectively. This one is gonna be different in that it’s a bit of all three. I mostly just want to talk about drums because I play them and have opinions on them, but I’ll also be talking about drum composing in general, and I’ll be giving specific enough examples that this will border on an album review.
Good to get back into doing this, eh? Anyways...
The biggest thing I want to talk about is what I like and dislike about drum part composition - that is, writing parts for drums for songs. I’ve mentioned this sort of thing before, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to go in-depth into my specialty in music, for the benefit of the one or two people who read these to begin with. I have a few opinions that might seem very specific and arbitrary at first blush, so I hope I can explain myself well enough that you can understand where I’m coming from. I’ll also try to use layman’s terms as much as I can, but if I need to, I’ll explain any technical terms as I use them.
Here we go:
Accurate depiction of me playing my kit in my house.
One thing I’ve definitely mentioned before is that I hate monotony in drum parts. By that I mean I hate doing the same one thing over and over for an entire song. I used to think (when I was younger, less experienced, more naïve, with worse hair) that I disliked simplistic drum parts, but that’s not necessarily true (although I’ll never like playing AC/DC). My problem is doing something simplistic without any change.
For example, consider the Bob Seger song Hollywood Nights. Hollywood Nights is breakneck fast, and has a drum part that isn’t complicated, but also isn’t a snoozefest, and the speed at which it’s played adds to the difficulty. All of this is shaping up to be interesting, except it stays on that one drum beat for the whole damn song. The beat itself isn’t bad, but I’d like to be doing something else during the course of these 5 minutes if that’s alright.
As counterexamples of how I like doing this type of thing when it’s made interesting, consider: Late Night by Foals, Of Moons Birds and Monsters by MGMT, and Ad Astra by Deerhunter. You’ll notice all of these are songs that spend most of their runtime building to a huge climax near the end. This is a formula that I really like, and while each of these are fairly simple for much of the beginning (Of Moons is less so, but when it switches gears it simplifies further), by the end they all hit something fantastic. It’s worth pointing out that Ad Astra leaves room for improvisation, which I normally take advantage of during the final, climactic chorus, but that doesn’t disprove my point.
Late Night is a perfect example of the core of my point though, because the only real change is a simple fill (eight sixteenth notes on the snare) into what’s basically the same beat, but on the crash instead of the hihats. I play the hihats with my foot on the offbeats (to hear this, if you can imagine the stereotypical oontss oontss oontss oontss of club music, the “tss” is on the offbeat), but that isn’t a required part, and it isn’t really shaking things up. The song is what made it interesting, with the dramatically increased intensity. I hit the drums so much harder during that section than anywhere else on that song, and that’s part of what makes it significant. This is the sort of difference I’m talking about, not necessarily doing radically different parts all over the song, but making reasonable, important changes in significant sections of the song. Change what cymbal you’re hitting, the intensity, add or remove a note or two from the beat, that sort of thing.
This is Jack. Remember that name for later.
A Knife In The Ocean (also by Foals - part of the reason they’re my favourite band is the drumming) is another example and also leads into my next point: when it adds to the song to do so, take advantage of the opportunity to do interesting things. By this I mean that sometimes a song could use a lot more from the drums than what is given. A Knife In The Ocean is not one of those times. It’s doing basically one beat for the whole song (though with a four-bar pattern and varying intensity that keep it from being boring), but that one part is interesting. It’s essentially a purdie shuffle, which is when we do a shuffle on the hihat (if you can picture fast blues music, you know what a shuffle is), but we fill in the gap with a ghost note (quiet note) on the snare.
That might not have translated.
A shuffle is when you play a triplet (three notes) but leave out the middle note. So instead of N-N-N N-N-N N-N-N you have N- -N N- -N N- -N. That results in the shuffle sound. The purdie shuffle is basically putting that missing note back in, but while the first and third notes are played on a cymbal, the second is played softly on the snare drum.
Does that make sense? Listen closely to Rosanna by Toto or Fool in the Rain by Led Zeppelin. That’s a purdie shuffle.
Anyways, A Knife In The Ocean isn’t technically a purdie shuffle, but it’s close, which is as much info as you need to understand without me going on for even longer. The point is that it’s interesting to hear and interesting to play, which is excellent because the song needed that kind of sound to keep pushing it forward. A simplistic beat would have been a detriment to the song. Jack (the drummer, you saw him a minute ago) saw an opportunity to do interesting things, and he took advantage of it.
That’s what I want to hear more of. Too often a song will have a boring drum part, even though the song itself is calling for something a little more involved. Spoon does this sometimes (which I’ve mentioned before), and it’s one of my biggest gripes with that band. Most of the time the drums are great (e.g. Don’t You Evah, Don’t Make Me a Target, The Infinite Pet, Hot Thoughts) but every once in a while Jim (the drummer) hams it in from my perspective (e.g. You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb, They Never Got You). To put this whole thing another way, if I can improvise a better beat on the spot on my second time hearing the song, there might be a problem.
This is Jim. Love ya, Jim!
I feel like that should give you a good idea of how I think about drum composing. I only really made two points, but those are the big ones I really look for and think about, and they’re widely applicable, too. I wanted to focus mostly on professional composition from actual drummers, because once you get into non-drummers writing drum parts (unless they have a lot of experience) there’s a whole new can of worms, and opening it would just get me riled up (tip for all you non-drummers out there: consult with a fucking drummer when you’re writing parts, or just let the drummer do it themselves).
Before I wrap up, in case you were wondering, the title is how we sometimes notate a paradiddle.
No I didn’t make that word up.
A paradiddle is when you do two single strokes (meaning alternating between the left and right hands) and then two double strokes (meaning hitting with the same hand twice in a row). The title, translated, is LEFT RIGHT LEFT LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT RIGHT, which is the hand pattern for a paradiddle.
Learn something new every day.
Anyways, that’s all for now folks. Sorry to have been so sparse and sporadic over the last year, not being in music college anymore means I’m not thinking academically about music as often, and it’s fucked up my motivation to write. I’m trying to get back into this sort of mentality again, so we’ll see how that goes.
Cheers!
