I uh. It's December. You may or may not have noticed.

I did Nanowrimo, spent my "creative projects half hour" slot on that, and completely forgot about posting my fourth year of daily drawings for October. Nevertheless, into my my art tag it goes.

In a fit of petty first world anarchism, I did Inktober's prompts, but digitally.

This year's been busy, so I tried to stick to my half an hour per day drawing time slot. (I say, gritting my teeth, forehead vein bulging as I look at the parts I don't like.)

I am forcing myself to acknowledge that the past year—with its approximately 130 hours of drawing practice—has resulted in some improvements to line control, anatomy, and perspective, but I'm definitely also reaching the point where several of these feel too embarrassing to post.

In fact I only picked nine, instead of the ten I did the last few years.

Please read some of the captions because at least I do think I'm funny.

Dreams was an auspicious start. I like this Bakugirl.

Fortune... exists. I should've been a little bolder with the fairy actually like, interacting with the dragon woman's palm, really being present there, instead of just sort of posed on top. I also should've made the table smaller, dragoness is supposed to be huge.

I immediately decided I was doing some kind of pair for Angel and Demon. Please ignore that the actual prompt was not Devil. It's close enough right? If I had more time and ambition the devil girl's net was going to be made of serpents. I did not really capture her "shouting" expression the way I wanted, but now that I'm looking it's not execrable. Angel's dreads are definitely more half hearted than I wanted. This one did at least convince me that my next batches of studies need to be of clothed figures.

Rise got my favorite concept for the whole month. Cause it's bread. Get it? eh? Please enjoy our little alchemist workshopping her lines for introducing her magnum opus. Tried to lean into cartoonish with her face.

I spent a solid 10 minutes trying to decide what to do for Dagger, and then all of a sudden it was like a voice spoke to me: "Do fan art of one of your favorite games of all time." I wish the Final Fantasy series hadn't abandoned that more stylized, cartoonish vibe. You know, one of the most interesting things about drawing is realizing that I am 100% looking at things that I have previously—apparently!—only kind of glanced at. Like I would not, before drawing this, have described Garnet as having, to be frank, a prodigious bosom, significant badonkerage, or ginormous dobonhonkeros. To be frank. And a really low cut top to boot. But here we are. I like this face. Wish I'd chosen a more dynamic pose.

For Shallow I decided to do a little snippet of something from one of my stories (coincidentally one related to what I was working on in November). The anatomy is a bit iffy. And even though she's literally supposed to have been buried in a shallow hole in the woods, I had to add a gravestone because I wasn't confident how well that showed.

Rush is another one where I was not at all sure what I was going to do until the brain noise intruded, "Firetrucks are red because red's the color of communism and they're always Russian[Rushin'] around." What was I thinking with that background?

Hilariously, I didn't notice the final prompt of Inktober and how well Fire went with my spontaneous choice for the previous day. It's only now that I'm posting that I realized during export I must have turned off the "background" layer that shows a(n attempt at a) continuation of the previous background. I recall being really frustrated trying to get the foreshortening right on this mischievous fire-ninja jill-o-lantern's arms, but it doesn't look so awful now.

It's fascinating feeling myself more fully move into the phase of learning where I can tell that I'm on the cusp of drawing this or that noticeably better, I just have to push, put a bit more time into individual pieces. And of course, practice.

Next I think I'll aim for at least four and up to twelve studies of clothed figures. Might stop to try and find some good hints on drawing a good fire, or something that suggests dirt.

But I also have some writing to do. I got engaged in my Nanowrimo project. I'm finishing something else up that a friend and I have worked on in bits for years. Of course, what I'd really like is to do some writing and drawing practice every day. It hasn't happened yet, but then again, between picking up drawing supplies and actually starting to practice daily, "It hasn't happened yet" was the case for years.

Until it wasn't.

Thelreads, Vigilantes 79, Replies Part 1

1) “And here we go on another week, and not gonna lie, I was looking forward to today. Man, a vigilantes chapter that has the potential to be something amazing, I haven`t seen one of those in a long time.”-And it wasamazing!...Amazingly disappointing with how it handled Endeavour’s character as a ‘professional’ hero. 2) “Oh ho ho, this is going to be really fun regardless….”- With how Vigilantes’ version of Endeavour seems to be a full-on fire bender, perhaps he’s creating that shadow puppet of Bee pop through precisely manipulating the flames in his hands… 3) “Koichi please why are you jumping around the cars, there`s a whole ass lane right there, if a bike can go through it so can you, don`t do those people dirty by ruining their car.”- Maybe him doing ‘jumps’ is less taxing that when he’s doing a ‘sprint’? I gotta assuming his stamina issues play into this somehow 4) “What is it Puto? You have noticed the flying onomatopoeia flying over your head as well? I wonder what it is about, it wasn`t there when we left the Bastard-cave. “- Manga’s presence continues to haunt this comic like a ghost in the pages… 5) “huh? Are the martians or the reapers invading or something? Or is it some other hero that has a sound based quirk? Good lord, is Present mic warning of his arrival?”- More like Endeavour’s sidekicks ‘clearing the runway’ so to speak, so he’s free to land his maximum firepower 6) “BAKUGIRL IS HERE! But why the fuck is she sounding a siren? Her quirk is fire based, not sound based. And you two, why do you know something we don`t? what the fuck is this siren thing about?”- The setup for the worst possible means of ‘damage control’ you could think of. 7) “Huh, so my magnificent and perfect brain did figure out correctly, that the guy with a compass for a motif and which was named “compass kid” did have a localization-based quirk”-  Since it’s pointing him to the location of people or objects he’s unaware of, based on generic searching criteria like ‘those who haven’t evacuated the area’, it’s actually a super-useful Quirk, in the same vein as Ragdoll’s search, if with more wind-up. Being able to find what he’s looking for even if the person doesn’t know he’s looking for them means he’s extremely useful as a tracker, just not a fighter. 8) “…

Absolutely not Endeavor, they are actually the tip of the spear, the front line on the battle that is to come. They won’t be sitting on the sidelines, they’ll be fighting and dying alongside the pro heroes. They don’t have a choice in the matter.

Also, you there, flame bakugirl, terrible mistake there, telling your younger brother that he won’t be working alongside the number one hero, he’s gonna flip his shit about this

Oh yeah, called it. But at least Todoroki is already on the case, he’ll give his father an ultimatum about it, either the three go together or they’ll leave this agency.

...Not that he would even need to, because now that Endeavor is aware of the situation he knows he can’t afford not overseeing their work study personally. Those kids require the hardest training possible if they are to survive past our four months deadline.

How did you go about designing Bakugirl? I feel like the difference (aside from the obvious) is mostly in the face and hairstyle. Which I dig how you've drawn, btw.

bfbfjfj thank you!!! um i basically just thought "what would bakugou look like if he were a girl" and went with my gut. i think she would wear a ponytail to keep her hair out of the way when she fights. i also didnt just wanna make her seem like a younger version of her mother, and i thought she'd look cool with a beauty mark so i added that! :D

He looked at you his brows twitching but he didnt move his hand away, instead gently gripping and brushing over your skin, it felt as if you were freshly shaved too, silky smooth just so inviting.. he wondered for a second if you were playing with him now by those kisses, the touches you allowed.. He didnt have much more time to think though as you two arrived, he was the first to leave and the flashes began, close to blinding as he took your hand and helped you out, cheers and flashes intensifying so much even katsuki used to his own explosions had to take a second not go fully blind.

My attention soon turning to the environment outside of car, everything finally seemed to be downing on me — making me nervous about everyone’s reaction and starting to get ready for all the loving and hateful comments the fans were going to make.

I spoke softly to katsuki once we entered the building, staying close to him by the hip as we walked towards our table — thanking him when he pulled my chair out for me to sit, before my attention went to his phone that was insanely going off with new notifications just from the new pictures that the paparazzi took, causing me to giggle a little.
