Fandom Ask Game: Give us a headcanon for Blaster

I've had this sitting in my inbox for a while. Oops!

Blaster! Hah. I love Blaster but my headcanon for him is "stereotypical bachelor/bachelorette," even when he's in a relationship. He's not great at housecleaning. He doesn't know how to cook anything more than the basic convenience meals (and he doesn't really care to learn). He loves going out clubbing with friends, or staying in and playing video games all night (and well into the morning). And his sleep/recharge schedule is a disaster.

Attempting a sideslip during the Ark’s uncontrolled descent into Earth’s atmosphere is my headcanon for how Sideswipe crash-landed the Ark into the volcano.

Could you recommend lambo twins fanfics? Specifically ones that are sunstreaker centric? Sunstreaker barely appears in media and ppl barely write about him and I neeeed sunstreaker content to consume

This one's a classic. Set in IDW 2019 (or IDW 2) where the twins have a completely different origin, this one takes you for such a crazy ride from start to finish and will have you holding on for dear life. I definitely cried a lot reading this lol it's that good. Easily one of the best Lambo twins-centric fics out there (and the longest one too to date).

Lifeline by Kattli (Kathrine)*

Set in the IDW-verse. One of my personal favorites as well as my fav interpretation of the twins' messy and complicated relationship in IDW. Canon-divergence in the best way possible.

Sideswipe's Secret Vacation Spot by BalloonArcade**

AU where the twins actually joined the Cons (one of my fav AUs for sure). Has by far my FAVORITE interpretation of Sunstreaker and one that definitely affected my own take of his character. The twins' dynamic here is *chef's kiss* so good. I adore them so much here.

No Rest for the Wicked by fuzipenguin*

Absolutely delectable 6k joyride with Sunstreaker pretty much murdering his way out of the enemy's base like the utterly ruthless warrior that he is <3 you love to see it!!!!

Snap, Crackle, Pop by SergeantCookie

I was so pleasantly surprised by how amazingly-written this fic was??? Like- the blend of comedy and realism feels so natural especially from Sideswipe's POV. Definitely one of my fav Sides-centric fics, and the other characters are an absolute hoot LOL it's so SO good from start to finish.

This one...completely caught me off-guard. An utterly different take of the twins' relationship in IDW (and in general, really) that I needed a whole day to digest what I just read because it was just- so raw and real and painful, but I think that's the beauty of it. Might not be everyone's cup of tea tho so here's my warning (bc the writer isn't a fan of fanon!Lambo twins), but I still recommend people (esp their fans) to read it to see a different perspective of the twins' dynamic.

A deep dive into Sunstreaker's psyche in the face of Smokescreen and it's so. SO good omg. You can see everything play out in real time from Sunstreaker's POV while at the same time you can tell he's so unreliable and so, so bad at social cues that it was painful to watch. But everything is from HIS view so he MUST be right...right?

Unorthodox Protection by FiftyShadesOfMetal

Another one of Sideswipe's shenanigans that...went a bit more south that he intended? Sunstreaker cameos a bit later but the true star of the show is the human inside of Sideswipe-- wait what?!

Loyalty by BalloonArcade

Prowl/Sideswipe with a substantial focus on the twins' relationship in IDW on the side. I really liked this take of the twins and what made them that way here.

Incomplete but the first 3 chapters are so compelling that you can't help but desperately want to know how it ends.

Sunstreaker and Sideswipe are unfortunately stuck with the bots they try to kill the most...whoops. Really funny and you get to enjoy seeing their (mostly Sunny's) suffering

Msytery fic, spooky-tastic. The twins aren't the sole focus here, but the fic is so good that you'd be too invested in what's happening to notice (or if you're like me, you do notice every time they interact but it won't detract from the story itself ahaha). But they are there and I'm not one to be picky, so you really don't wanna pass this one up.

Spooky-fic, reaally well written (this writer has a talent with writing horror I swear), keeps you at the edge of your seat through the whole thing and wanting nothing more than for them to go--

I've been following @balloonarcade's Dirty Little Secrets fic for while now. But because i really hate reading long shit on this app i've been compiling it into an EPUB on my kobo. I made this cover for it so it didn't look out of place in my library anymore cause i'm extra like that

How i started to like them was when i found out rid sideswipe existed and then loved his character and found g1 sideswipe and this yellow bot who was his brother and learned alot about them :33

Funny thing about that- I'm not actually sure.

I know it was through fanfiction, however. Which means I was introduced to both the twins at the same time. I also know it was before I got my ao3 account.

I'm not exactly sure what fic I was reading when the twins caught my attention, but I do know that I was hooked. It was interesting, and I looked 'em up. They continued being interesting and I was disappointed to find the only show they were in together was Gen 1. Thus I started going out of my way to read fanfiction of them.

I think I got in pretty deep reading Take Two by padawanjinx- Which, totally recommend. Some chapters have triggers, some don't. And any of BalloonArcade's Twin stuff. Also highly recommend all that. Especially The Flat Stanley Project.

But the two have just always been neat characters and I've learned more about their canon and fanon in the years since I found them. And now I write them too!

Sunstreaker remains one of my favorite Autobots, and Sides is somewhere in the top 10. Really wish the two would show up in stuff together again.

I saw those posts about the jettwins and had to add my two cents. Bumblebee and Sentinel I see shipped with them for trines, but ya'll are sleeping on Jazz! Cyber ninja and already is on good terms with the twins, he could probably tell you Jetstorms favorite additive for his fuel, or Jetfire's go to victory dance move. Jazz has got the moves to keep up with these two jets I tell you.

Number two; I need people to go read Balloon Arcades story 'Dirty Little Secret' about Sideswipe/Sunstreaker. Latest chapter has, and I quote "dominated by a mech while my spike is in his mouth" that is hella hot. Posts won't show because the account is in pixel jail but it would be a crime if more eyes didn't see this story.

Honestly? Just get the words down.

I write a lot more freely when I'm just writing to write. I don't worry about coherence or styling or language; I just try to get my 'vision' down as fast as I can. Then I clean it up later.

When I'm writing something that I'm intending to show to other people (like fanfic) I write much more slowly because I am self-editing as I go. I stop, delete things, start over, rehash bits over and over.

I ALWAYS have to keep reminding myself to get the words down first... THEN I can do the editing. I find editing to be a lot more fun because I can shape the vaguely story-shaped pile of words into something I think is beautiful.

But the words need to be there before I can do that.

💌 Is there a favorite trope you like to write?

Hmm. I was going to say something like "hurt/comfort" or "friends to lover" but I think I love writing about people finding themselves. Either figuring out something about themselves that they didn't know before, or finding a path for themselves that they didn't even know they wanted.

Not sure that's really a trope but I find versions of that coming up in my writing a lot.

Why I love it: This is a fix-it fic for The Transformers: The Movie, in which Sideswipe desperately tries to save Prowl's (and Sunstreaker's) life. It's a sweet, short jaunt into an AU that has a lot of fun possibilities.

Why I love it: Earthspark has been a delight, and finding a fic that meshes both Earthspark Megatron and IDW1 Megatron so well is a real treat. Toss in just a shade of TFP Optimus and a lovely dose of smut, and that sends this fic over the top. Definitely a recommended read if you're a fan of MegOP!

@fuzipenguin and especially @balloonarcade, I've now made a Sideswipe and Sunstreaker playlist because of you both, and this song especially sings to them in my opinion. Depending what line you look at in the song it goes to one or the other twin. Anyways! Curse and bless you both!

((side note, 'i feel empty' by Kina is another one that i feel fits them both, especially if, and this is geared towards you especially @balloonarcade, if one of them died. 'i feel empty' is the song I picture for if one died. Okay I'm done now))

I don’t have an explanation for anyone wondering what this picture is supposed to represent... Perhaps the inner demons that torment us all, or it’s just a piece of art dedicated to a typo. Who knows? Me. I know, but my lips are sealed. :^)
