Y/N was on it the minute she got out of the bathroom, grabbing gloves and walking straight to the next trauma.
            “Nick Bradley, 18, found unresponsive by parents. No meds, no allergies. On arrival, he was barely breathing with pinpoint pupils, bradycardic at 38. Pupils responded to Narcan, but we tubed him when his respirations didn’t pick up,” the paramedic said as they wheeled him into a trauma room.
            Robby was next to Y/N instantly and she glanced over.
            “Any drugs or alcohol on the scene?” Y/N asked as they began to prep him to move to the medical bed.
            “No.”
            “Signs of trauma?” she continued to ask.
            “Nothing.”
            Y/N grabbed hold of the bag, pumping oxygen into his lungs as other doctors joined the room.
            “On three. One, two, three,” Collins called out, as they moved the patient from gurney to bed.
            “Where was he found?” Robby asked.
            “In bed by his mom.”
            “Pupils are six millimetres, non-reactive,” Collins announced.
            “Heart rate’s 64. BP is cycling,” Y/N called out as she switched with a nurse to grab gel for a ultrasound.
            “No response to pain. GCS 3,” Mohan explained before placing the ultrasound on the stomach of the patient.
            “Does that fit any toxidrome?” Robby called out.
            “No,” Y/N replied. “If it was just opiates with Narcan, he’d be breathing on his own.” Y/N was shaking her head. What the fuck happened with this kid?
            “Uh, beta blockers shouldn’t get pinpoint pupils,” Mohan muttered.
            “Maybe parents had some prescription meds in their bathroom,” Robby suggested.
The paramedic explained that the parents were on their way. However, the PA system was heard with a code trauma, tier 1 and coming in five minutes. It was a stand-up scooter rider versus a car door, which another nurse told them.
“No blood in the belly,” Mohan told them. “No pericardial effusion and lungs are up.”
“Hemocue’s good, at 15. BP 84 over 58,” Y/N added.
Robby stood, looking over at the monitors. “What’s your plan, Dr. Collins?” he asked.
“Um, push dose epi, 0.1 milligram. Foley for urine, stabilise for CT, and throw a wide net,” Collins said, turning around from the computer to look at them.
Y/N nodded. They continued to work as she grabbed the supplies that Collins asked for.
“Systolic back down to 90,” Y/N said, looking over at the monitor.
“Another 0.1 of epi,” Collins suggested.
“Flaccid paralysis of all four extremities,” Mohan added.
“No eye movement with ice water,” Collins stated.
Y/N glanced around, but when her eyes landed on Robby, he was just staring at her. “There’s no brainstem function then,” Y/N mumbled, looking at him before shifting her eyes to the team.
“Due to?” Robby added, breaking his eye contact with her, voice loud.
“Hypoxic injury, massive haemorrhage,” Y/N muttered. “He’s gone,” she continued to whisper before nodding. “He’s gone.”
“Samira, escort him to CT,” Collins suggested. “Take the drug box with you.”
Y/N nodded, following the team to take the patient to CT. The CT came back normal, and they brought the patient back. She continued to work, figuring out what was happening. When Y/N did the urine test, she sighed. Everyone looked up to see her.
“Fentanyl,” she whispered. “The kid OD-ed on fentanyl.”
The way everyone looked at Y/N, pity in their eyes. She walked to the door, opening it to see Robby with the parents. His eyes glanced to Y/N.
“Dr. Robby,” Y/N whispered, holding the test strip up, “urine test.” Robby just sent a curt nod to Y/N before turning back to the parents of the kid. She continued to do her workups. Then she went to check on her patients.
The nausea was gone. She was back to normal, and no one blinked a eye that something was happening underneath it all.
-
Y/N walked into one of the rooms and saw Robby standing there while Whitaker, one of the medical students, continued to perform CPR. Y/N glanced over to Robby.
            “How long has he been down?” Y/N whispered, leaning into Robby, arms crossed.
            Robby glanced over to her. “Too long,” he replied quietly. Y/N just nodded.
            “Should we shock him?” Whitaker asked, looking up to see Robby and one of his favourite nurses.
            “You don’t shock asystole,” Y/N replied.
            “It could be fine-v-fib,” Whitaker pressed, continuing to do chest compressions.
            “Not a chance,” Robby muttered, glancing down.
            “Ok, uh, when was his last epi?” Whitaker asked, trying to figure out what to do.             “Three minutes ago,” Robby replied.
            “Ok. Well, ACLS says every three to five minutes, right? So, let’s push another round,” Whitaker suggested, looking over to his mentor with a hopeful look.
            Y/N sighed, looking between them, trying to not to show emotion. She knew what this meant.
            “Fine,” Robby breathed.
            Dana walked up behind them. “Robby, Mr. Spencer’s adult children are asking for you. And the parents of Nick Bradley, the fentanyl overdose, also want to speak with you,” Dana said, looking over to him and Y/N.
            Robby nodded. “Ok,” he breathed before looking over at Whitaker. “Three rounds of epi and then call it. Y/N, do your thing,” he said, patting her on her back before walking away.
            Y/N watched the more med student do his best to resuscitate the patient he had lost. She stayed there for a moment, arms crossed, watching as he administered the epi, but there were no signs.
            “No pericardial effusion. No tension pneumothorax, no cardiac activity,” Mel said.
            Whitaker shook his head before going back to chest compressions. “Try calcium. Could be hyperkalaemia.”
            Y/N took a step and placed her hands on his who were locked doing compressions. “No, his potassium was normal,” Y/N replied. “You need to call this, Whitaker,” she whispered. “It’s ok.”
            Whitaker shook his head. “No. Not yet. Dr. Robby said three rounds of epi,” he replied. “It’s time. Let’s push another amp. This one could do it.”
            Y/N slowly nodded. “Ok,” she whispered, though knowing the truth. She turned to prepare the drug.

Y/N administered the epi into his IV before watching Whitaker continue his chest compressions. A crack was heard, and Y/N sighed, knowing exactly what this was.
            “Oh shit,” Whitaker muttered, looking up.
            “What?” Mel asked.
            “I think I just broke some ribs,” he muttered.
            “It means you’re doing it right,” Langdon said from behind them.
            Y/N glanced over to see the resident. Their eyes locked, sharing the same knowing feeling and complete answer to this.
            “Third amp of epi is in,” Y/N replied, looking over to Whitaker.
            “Oh, come on,” he whispered, continuing to try to bring him back to life.
            Langdon looked at Y/N before Whitaker. “Call me if there’s a resurrection,” he stated, turning away.
            Y/N looked back at Whitaker. “Kid, please,” she whispered.
            “No, no, no,” he whispered back. “He was fine. Gallstone. It was just a gallstone,” he muttered. Y/N nodded, understanding how hard it is to lose a patient.
            Y/N stepped closer, soft but steady, her hand finding his wrist and stilling his compressions. “Kid…he’s gone.”
            “No,” he whispered, shaking his head. “He was joking with me this morning. Telling me about his wife’s birthday, and that they went out for dinner.”
            Y/N swallowed, her own throat tightening. “I know. It’s hard.”
            Whitaker looked at her, and the panic behind his eyes hit her hard. “He was fine. I told him he was going to be fine and now,” he said again, but this time it wasn’t defiance, but disbelief. Desperation. “I don’t understand.”
            Y/N nodded slowly. “Sometimes we don’t. Sometimes it doesn’t matter how stable they were, or how minor the diagnosis seemed. Sometimes the body…it just quits. We don’t always get the answers. Not one that feels fair.”
            He stared down at his patient’s chest, his hands trembling just slightly above it, unsure whether to resume or retreat. “I don’t know how to stop.”
            Y/N gently placed her hand over his. “You don’t stop because you gave up. You stop because you did everything you could. You honoured code. You followed protocol. You gave him a chance. In this job we do everything, but sometimes shit happens,” she whispered. “You did your best. However, nature won, and its ok to accept defeat.”
            Whitaker blinked rapidly, eye shining now. “But he’s dead.”
            “He is,” Y/N said quietly, her voice steady. “And now its time to say that out loud. You need to call it.”
            He glanced over. “I never…can you?”
            She shook her head. “I can’t. You must.” Robby came over. “Third epi given three minutes ago,” Y/N said, glancing over to the attending.
            “How long has he been going at it?” Robby asked.
            Mel looked up. “Ten minutes in here, possibly thirty minutes of prior downtime,” she said.
            Santos was there now too. “Don’t suppose you’d let me try a pericardiocentesis?” she asked, raising a brow.
            Y/N scoffed lightly under her breath as she looked over to the driven intern. Shaking her head, she glanced over to Robby. “Seriously?”
            “For what?” he asked, looking over at the intern.
            “For practice,” she replied, shrugging. “In case it’s tamponade.”
            “None seen on ultrasound,” Whitaker responded, continuing to do chest compressions.
            “This is a teaching hospital,” Santos nudged, suggesting.
            “Indeed, a teaching hospital,” Y/N muttered, “but not a damn cadaver lab. If you would like to perform one, I suggest medical school.”
            Santos looked at her and raised a brow. “Last time I checked, you’re a nurse, so maybe stay in your lane and let the doctors do their job,” she fired at Y/N.
            The air in the room shifted, and everyone noticed.
            Y/N didn’t flinch. She didn’t raise her voice. She simply tilted her head, the corner of her mouth twitching into a tired, dangerous smile. “My lane?” she scoffed. “Believe me, I can do more and I know a lot more than you do, Dr. Santos. So, please, stay in your lane. Last time I checked, you’ve been a doctor for what? A month?”
            A beat passed.
            Robby stepped in them, quiet, controlled, but his tone carried like thunder. “That’s enough.”
            “Do you even know how to perform a pericardiocentesis? They don’t teach them in nursing school.” Santos asked, ignoring Robby’s comment.
            Y/N rose a brow. “Of fucking hell, I can. May not be taught in nursing school, but I’ve been with an attending for six years who taught me how to,” she barked back. “Date night. Learning medical procedures,” she quirked.
            Santos opened her mouth again, but Robby took a deliberate step forward. “I said enough,” he stated before looking over to Santos. “Dr. Santos, one more comment like that and I will personally make you be stuck in triage. We do not perform medical procedures unless they are necessary. Additionally, you were disrespecting one of my best nurses who has way more field experience, intelligence higher than most doctors and the ability to think quickly on her feet. She’s been here longer than you’ve had a stethoscope. And if you can’t recognise that we’re team in this room, then you don’t belong in this room.” Then he glanced to Y/N. “Y/N, behave.”
            Y/N looked at Robby, sent him a small smile before looking over to Whitaker. Mel added to the conversation, “Do you want me to take over?”
            “No. I’m fine.”
            Y/N shook her head. “Kid, you aren’t fine. You don’t look fine.”
            Robby sighed. “Hold compressions.”
            Whitaker stopped compressions, and they all glanced over to the monitor. The monitor showed what they needed to know.
            “Still no rhythm,” Y/N muttered.
            Robby sighed and nodded, glancing down to the patient. “Ok, Whitaker. I think that’s enough.”
            “It’s been four minutes since the last epi,” he muttered, continuing chest compressions. “One more minute, please,” he begged, looking over to Robby.
            Robby nodded, checking his watch. They all waited for that minute to be over.
            “Five minutes since the last epi,” Y/N stated, looking over to Robby.
            Robby nodded, checking his watch. “Ok, that’s it. Hold compressions.” Whitaker stopped, the beeping persistent. Y/N moved to turn the monitor off before covering the body with a blanket.
            “He took his wife out for dinner last night,” Whitaker muttered, looking over to the team. He was in shock. She realised it. “For her birthday.” His voice was shaky, confused but also shocked by it all.
            Y/N crossed her arms over her chest, placing her palms over her stomach as if she was protecting what was inside of it. Robby noticed before glancing around.
            “Ok, why doesn’t everybody take a minute?” Robby suggested. “Go check on your other patients. We’ll meet back here to debrief with Kiara.”
            People left the room, leaving Y/N, Mel and Whitaker behind. She glanced at him. “Kid, take a break. Let’s go grab a coffee. We can chat,” she suggested, sending him a small smile before reaching out and squeezing his arm.
            Whitaker shook his head. “No, I’m fine. Thank you.”
            Y/N nodded, looking around the room before walking away. Y/N walked up to Robby, finding him, her fingers grazed his elbow, and he turned around. Glasses perched on his nose, he raised a brow at her.
            “You know I love you,” she began, and he slowly nodded, “and I’m thankful for everything you do…” she continued, and Robby slowly nodded. “But I don’t need a knight in shining armour.” Robby was silent for a moment, just staring at the nurse. “You didn’t need to do that; I could’ve held my own battle.”
            Robby shook his head and chuckled. “I did it because you are having a rough day and I don’t want you swinging at my new intern,” he muttered, standing in front of a computer.
            Y/N’s brows furrowed as she scoffed. “Me…swing at an intern?”
            He glanced at her, eyes linked as he raised a brow. “I know.”
            “Know what?” she whispered, brows furrowing, confused.
            His eyes darted to her stomach, where she was still holding. Instantly, Y/N dropped her hands. “Fucking Dana,” she muttered, shaking her head.
            “Oh…” he chuckled, shaking his head, “not Dana. Just a great friend, observer and doctor. How far along are you?” he asked.
            Y/N just stared at him. “This is where you don’t know anything,” she stated. “You. Know. Nothing.” She held her finger up, eyes locked with him. “Nothing. Nothing at all. Because the only person who has the right to know right now is that man who impregnated me. So, please. Hush. He’ll know tonight.”
            He then smirked. “So, you are pregnant?” he whispered. “I knew it.” However, the way he smirked, his eyes lightened up.
            She just stared at him, mouth dropping. “You are a fucking asshole,” she scoffed. “You are a little manipulative piece of shit,” she whispered shaking her head.
            “Not nice calling your coworkers that, Miss. Y/L/N. Let alone your very good friend and best friend to your partner,” he smirked, winking. “And boss. Should I complain to HR? My best nurse calling me heinous names? Toxic work environment.”
            Y/N shook her head. “One, you’re not my boss. Two, fuck off, Michael,” she whispered, shaking her head and walking away.
            “You love me!” he called out.
            She shook her head. “I fucking do,” she muttered more to herself.
            Y/N settled down next to Dana, opening her computer to write her patient notes. Dana stared at her for a moment, raising a brow. “Heard you dropped a bomb back there,” Dana said, casually sipping her coffee. “Something about being with an attending for six years and learning medical procedures as date night. You two order takeout and he teaches you trauma procedures?” she asked, smirking.
            Y/N groaned, dragging a hand down her face. “Oh my God, it wasn’t even like that. That new intern got under my skin, got cocky and is insufferable.” Y/N shook her head. “Greenies. They are aching for chaos.”
            Dana smirked, tapping her pen on the desk. “Well, congrats, sweetheart. Rumour has it that you’re secretly with Robby now, well, that’s what the greenies think.”
            Y/N raised a brow. “Well, let them be detectives. They’ll eventually change their theories when they see Jack and me in the same room.”
            Dana scoffed. “No, you two are way too professional when working together. Never would’ve thought you and Jack were romantically, intimately together for six years. Sure, banter happens between the two of you and rivalry as well. But he acts more like a mentor with you than your partner of how many years.”
            Y/N rolled her eyes. “Every good ER has gossip.”
            “And they think you’re sleeping with the boss,” Dana hummed, chuckling.
            “Let them.” Dana rose a brow. “Actually, don’t,” she muttered back, “if Jack catches wind of this…” Then Y/N scoffed. “Technically, I am sleeping with the boss. Night shift head attending. I used to work as a night shift nurse, in fact, I was a charge nurse, but then they moved me to days to cover Cassidy because she selfishly decided to get knocked up and birth a child out of her vagina,” Y/N rambled as she typed at the computer.
            Dana smirked. “That’ll be you in thirty-three weeks,” she replied with a smirk.
            Y/N looked over, raising a brow.
            “Just saying the truth,” Dana whispered, throwing her hands up.
            “Robby knows,” Y/N replied, running a hand through her hair. “Everyone fucking knows.”
            Dana heard her. “About the little fetus?” she whispered. Y/N nodded. “Yeah, he figured that out on his own,” she replied. “That man sees, hears, figures out everything.”
            Y/N scoffed. “I just,” she sighed. “Jack will be the third person to know. If the doesn’t fire continues to spread. That’s not fair on him. Especially, his best mate knows before him. He is at home right now, still probably sleeping then he’ll listen to the police scanner, read a medical journal, watch or read the news and even play with dogs and has no fucking idea. Though he knows something is up, and his mind is probably going in circles trying to figure it out.”
            Dana nodded. “It’s going to be ok, sweetheart,” she responded, squeezing her arm for a moment. “All good.”
            Y/N nodded. “You should’ve seen Robby’s face? He smirked and admitted it. Like a smug little shit…”
            Dana laughed. “Oh, he’s going to be insufferable for weeks.”
            “I told him to fuck off. He said he was filing an HR complaint.”
            “Classic,” Dana grinned.
            Then they went back to their jobs. Y/N debriefed with the team, Kiara and the new kids.
-
Y/N was at the nurses’ station writing her patient notes. On her third cup of coffee that morning, she tried not let death get in her way. Several patients already gone and it was just barely ten in the morning.
            Whitaker came up, standing in front of her as he stared at the board.
            “Talk to me, kid,” Y/N stated, looking up to the med student. “What’s going on in that young brain of yours?” she asked.
            Whitaker looked at Y/N who continued to type on the computer. “Um, I just,” he tried, “just trying to pick a case that will not end up with the patient dying.”
            Y/N looked back up to him. “Can’t be cherry-picking. Robby will be mad,” she stated. “You’re the doctor. You treat everyone the same.”
            He nodded. “I know, but–“
            “Kid, it’s ok,” she said. “The first is the hardest. Each one after will be hard as well. There are perks to the job and this isn’t one of them. But we chose medicine to help people, and sometimes we can’t always win,” Y/N told him, sending him a small reassuring smile. “However, the perks will always outweigh the negatives here. Don’t let one thing hold you back. You’re good.”
            He nodded again. “Right, thanks,” he muttered. “Uh, how long have you been a nurse?” he asked, fidgeting with his hands.
            “Eight years,” Y/N said.
            “And as an ER nurse?” he asked.
            “Eight years,” she repeated.
            He nodded. “What did you do before this?” he asked.
            Y/N looked at him for a moment. “I’m not much older than you, Whitaker. I was in university,” she responded.
            He nodded again. “Right, I didn’t mean to like offend. I just… You’re really good,” he mumbled.
            “Perks of being in this field forever and also being practically married to an attending where I learn a lot from him,” she replied with a smile. “Don’t let the BSN fool you. I could d a crike,” she hummed, winking.
            Whitaker nodded again. “Right,” he breathed.
            Y/N stared at him for a moment and sighed. “I worked in mental health for four years while in university. Double majored in nursing and psychology.”
            Whitaker blinked. “Wait, seriously? Both degrees at once?”
            Y/N gave a tired shrug. “Yeah. That’s what happens when you have an IQ of 178 and an eidetic memory. You get bored easily. That’s why I am in ER because no day is the same,” she explained with an smile.
            He let out a breathy laugh. “Jesus. Wish I am that smart.”
            She tilted her head at him. “You are. I can tell. Intelligence is a scale and a measurement that’s hard to define. Rather, actually, IQ is a measurement that can be argued does not define intelligence. Intelligence is being studied in a series of different versions. Sure, most people believe intelligence is the way to remember, memorise, understand, learn and adapt to situations. However, intelligence can be more than just remembering the facts and performing things. Rather, intelligence can be music, interpersonal, existential, mathematical, linguistic, etc.” She mumbled, looking at him. He just stared at him lost and she then chuckled. “You are smart, kid. That’s my compliment.”
            Whitaker flushed slightly at the complimenting, rubbing the back of his neck.
            “Thanks,” he muttered. “No one’s ever really said that to me before.”
            Y/N sipped her coffee. “Well, maybe you’ve been around the wrong people. It’s ok, we’re a family here.”
            He gave her a small smile and glanced down at his shoes. “Right, I can tell.” Y/N nodded. Then he looked back at her. “Do you ever get used to it? The dying, I mean.”
            Y/N leaned back in her chair, letting the question sit for a moment. “No, I don’t think so,” she finally said. “You don’t get used to it. You just learn how to live with it.”
            Whitaker stared at her for a moment, waiting.
            “It doesn’t stop hurting,” she continued, her voice softer now. “You just compartmentalise better. The first death I saw, I dealt with, and I didn’t sleep for two days. I was a new grad nurse and needed to impress my peers and my attending sent me home because I was too emotional. The second, I cried in the bathroom because I didn’t want him to see me breaking. Then, after the tenth, my attending, who is now my partner, taught me to write letters to their family, to them. Just to get it out.”
            “Letters?”
            She nodded. “They help. Especially with the guilt. You don’t have to give them to the patient’s family, but it’s a version of therapy. Therapeutic journaling it’s called. I can argue it links to Pennebaker’s theory. It’s about how when we express our deeper thoughts and feelings, it can lead to better benefits for our health, especially coping.”
            Whitaker leaned his elbows on the counter, clearly soaking in every word. “That makes sense,” he said quietly. “I’ve been trying to act like it doesn’t get to me. That I’m built for this. But I just feel–“
            “That’s medicine, kid. Especially trauma. Either ages you more or keeps you young,” Y/N replied. “However, you’re human. Made of neurons, tissue and if you’re like me, too much caffeine. You’re supposed to feel. It’s ok to grieve, but remember you may have lost one, but you helped how many?” she explained, smiling at him.
            He nodded.
            “Kid, medicine is two lives. You have the outside world where you can be who you want to be, but in this hospital, in this ward, you have a purpose. Your duty to serve. Someone codes, you know what to do. If a teenager has a panic attack, and it’s my voice that calms them down, then it’s me. Because we are superheroes that are never praised enough,” Y/N explained. “However, you are going to get paid significantly more than me because I’m just a nurse,” Y/N joked with a chuckle. “But we don’t do it for the money. We do it cause its what we know, what we are bred for and it’s definitely in our DNA. It is us that makes the difference. We are the medical professionals.”
            Whitaker gave a slow nod, then after a pause. “You talk about it like you live it.”
            Y/N chuckled. “Well, I made it my identity. You don’t have to. However, I have a life outside of these walls. I’m with a man who I love so much. We have four dogs. We have a house outside the city with a big plot of land. We travel a lot, when we can, if we can. I am a sister, a partner, a friend and a daughter.” Then she chuckled. “You’re young, my advice is to stay in medicine, just don’t marry medicine. I made the mistake and married it, but don’t regret it at all.”
            He nodded.
            “There is so much you can do with a medical degree, Whitaker. You don’t always have to go with the most gruesome, highest prone to death, chaotic form of work,” she said and looked back up from the computer. “Family medicine exists.”
            He just stared at her. “I don’t know if that was a jab or a joke,” he muttered.
            Y/N chuckled, shrugging. “Just being honest. You new kids are dropping like flies. One fainted, you,” she looked at him, “had your first death. Emergency medicine is not for the faint of heart.” Then she sent him a smirk, and he just stared at her. “You’re great, Whitaker. Doing great,” she added, sending him a thumbs-up. “Don’t tell Robby that I’m scaring you away. I like my job,” she joked. “Though I prefer nights.”
            “Why?” he asked, confused.
            “The darkness calms me,” she whispered. “Also, better cases. More chaos, blood and higher prone to death. Plus, the premium rates are great.” He just stared at her, wide eyed. “I know, psycho. Now, go rookie, go get them tiger and don’t hesitate to holler if you need a little push, pull and guidance. Like I said, I can do cricothyroidotomy and a chest tube. I could probably due heart surgery too,” she hummed, smirking. “Go, show me you deserve the darker coloured scrubs.”

Happy Halloween, everyone!
I've got some good news - I've finished tallying up the results of the favourite anime survey and can now, finally, reveal what Tumblr's favourite anime actually are. To start with, I'd like to thank everyone who responded - yes, all 1172 (wow!) of you - and to apologise for he delay in actually getting these results out. For anyone who needs a reminder, these results are based on how many points each anime received - a first place ranking was worth five points, a second or third place ranking was worth four, a fourth or fifth place ranking was worth three, a sixth-tenth place ranking was worth two, and a eleventh-twentieth place ranking was worth one. When multiple anime had the same number of points, the anime with the most first-place votes was placed higher. The results are below the read more right here - I hope you enjoy reading!

Been working on this for a bit: Ensam Själ. It's a set of tools and procedures for Mörk Själ, my soulslike hack of Mörk Borg.
In it you will find a 2d10-based Yes/No oracle with a chance for random events, a variety of dark fantasy-themed spark tables, and a set of specific procedures for exploration using these tools.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It takes inspiration from a lot of different solo and GM-less rules, such as Mythic GM Emulator, Conjectural Roleplaying GM Emulator, Game Master’s Apprentice, Solitary Defilement, FORGE, and my very own Pocket Delver (If you've played Pocket Delver, the last set of random tables should look pretty familiar)
As always, licensed CC-BY-SA 4.0, so feel free to poach and steal any bits and pieces you like from it.
It costs $5 USD, but there are 10 community copies available, and I will be adding a new community copy for each sale made. Also, for the next two months it will be available at a discounted price for everyone who already owns the full version of Mörk Själ.
Plus. If community copies run out and you still want a free copy because you can't or just don't feel like paying for it... you can just message me about it, and I'll be more than happy to give you a download code.
Anyway hope y'all enjoy it :)
As a little demonstration of how it works, I will copy the full example of play I included at the end of the document under the cut.
Example of Play
Here is a demonstration of solo play applying the procedures contained in this document.
After randomizing character creation, our chosen undead is Abigeal of Kingfisher Thicket, a Battlemage with a missing foot and vague memories of being betrayed by an old ally.
Abilities: Strength +2, Agility 0, Toughness -1, Presence +2
HP: 5
Inventory: Shortsword, Fur Armor, Lantern, 3 Flasks of oil.
Inventory slots: 4/13
Stamina: 9
Spells: The Fortress, Merciful Sunlight
Her main goal is to track down and punish the old ally who betrayed her, who is...
Roll on NPC spark table: 64 – Arrogant, 16 – Thief
... an arrogant thief by the name of Ciannán the Grinning.
Rolling on the Area spark table (22, 26) we find out that she begins her quest in a flooded prison. I’ve decided that the enemies for this area are: Nuisance: Sewer Rat – Normal: Ghost – Tough: Wraith – Miniboss: Amphibian Shaman – Boss: Giant Sewer Rat.
Let’s generate a room:
Roll for number of exits: 6 - three exits. Roll for cardinal directions: 2 – NE, 4 – SE, 8 – NW. I chose not to roll for exit type for the time being and assume the three of them are horizontal
Tumblr media
Roll on room content tables: Encounter: 11 – Nothing. Loot: 8 – Weapon (Roll on weapons table to determine weapon: Femur) . Room feature: 9 – Nothing.
Standing on top of a small ledge, Abigeal looks upon the rest of the flooded room, an abandoned guard post in an ancient, now flooded prison.
Is there a light source in the room? (2d6 on Soul Oracle: 6 – Yes) Luckily, the light that filters from the cracks on the ceiling above is enough to see clearly.
Is the water shallow enough to walk across it? (2d10 on Soul Oracle: 4 – “Yes, and...”) The water is shallow enough to reach all of the doors walking, and barely deep enough to get your feet wet. Due to the Yes, and Response, Doom is increased by 1.
Abigeal ignores the femur floating in the water, instead going to check the coffer beside the old guard table.
Is there anything of value in the coffer? (2d10+1 on Soul Oracle: 12 – No, but...)
There is nothing in the coffer, but when she crouched down to check it she managed to spot something in the water under the table.
Is it a key? (2d10+1 on Soul Oracle: 8 - Yes)
Abigeal grabs the key she spotted under the table, and then finally decides to check the door to the Northeast.
Room generation:
Roll for number of exits: 2 – None, the room has no doors other than the one she came in through.
Tumblr media
Roll on room content tables:
Encounter: 16 – 1d3 tough enemies. Loot: 11 – Nothing. Room feature: 12 – Nothing.
Upon entering the flooded guard barracks, Abigeal suddenly finds herself facing a Wraith. As she wasn’t making any particular effort to conceal herself, she’s spotted almost immediately.
Roll for Wraith HP (4d8): 21
Initiative: Test Agility DR12. 19 - Success, Abigeal acts first.
Knowing she can’t defeat the Wraith head-on, Abigeal tries to use her Merciful Sunlight spell to blind it.
Spellcasting: Test Presence DR12. 18 – Success.
Casting Merciful Sunlight and aiming the bright light directly at the wraith’s eyes, Abigeal manages to blind it for 8 combat rounds (There is no set effect for blinding, but I’ve decided the DR to avoid the wraith’s attacks has been reduced to 6)
The wraith tries to hit Abigeal, but she easily avoids its touch and counterattacks with her shortsword, just barely managing to hit its almost incorporeal form. She decides to spend one Stamina to add one damage die to her attack, hitting with 2d4 for 7 damage.
I will omit the full play-by-play narration of the encounter, but Abigeal manages to defeat the wraith after seven rounds of combat, with her HP reduced to 4 and her Stamina Reduced to 3, and earns 250 souls. She rolls her weapon’s Usage Die, but luckily it comes up 3, so her weapon isn’t damaged. However, when rolling her armor’s UD it comes up 1, so her armor receives one level of wear and its UD is reduced from d8 to d6.
After stopping to catch her breath, she recovers 2 Stamina, and decides to examine the room.
Is there any container for guards’ belongings still intact?
(2d10+1 on Soul Oracle: 3 – Yes, And...)
There is not only one, but several barrels and coffers containing the former guards’ belongings. Among them, she finds 2 bombs, a net, 20 ft of rope, and a spear. Due to the Yes, and Response, Doom is increased by 1.
Abigeal takes the spear and the two bombs and adds them to her inventory.
She then heads back to the guard post, now taking the door to the southeast.
Roll for number of exits: 3 – One exit. Roll for cardinal directions: 3 – East. Roll for exit type: 3 – Horizontal.
Tumblr media
Roll on room content tables:
Encounter: 11 – Nothing. Loot: 16 – Random scroll. Room feature: 14 – Major obstacle.
Rolling on a spark table to determine what the obstacle is, I decided to roll Verb + Subject
31 – Increase. 16 - Adversity
Towards the center of this room, the water level is much higher respective to the floor, making it impossible to traverse to the other side walking.
Is the scroll on the side of the room Abigeal can reach on foot? (2d10+2 on Soul Oracle: 11 – Random Event)
A random event occurs. Before determining what it is, I resolve the yes/no question by looking at the result of the higher of the two dice. As it’s an even number (8), the answer is yes, the scroll is floating on the side of the room Abigeal can reach on foot.
Roll for event type: 12 – Reveal
Something is revealed to not be what it initially seemed. I decided to roll Adjective + Subject and...
21 – Ancient. 12 – Ally.
Rather serendipitous.
I decided to interpret this as... she suddenly remembers this was an important place for her and Ciannán, back in the old times before the undead curse.
Is this where he betrayed her? (2d10+2 on Soul Oracle: 21 – No, and...)
This doesn’t seem to be the case, quite the opposite, in fact. Due to the No, and Response, Doom is reduced by 1.
Is this where they met? (2d10+1 on Soul Oracle: 10 – Yes, but...)
She recognizes this as the place they met, but she can barely remember anything from that encounter other than the place itself.
I’m going to stop playing here for the time being, closing this example of play on what I think is the most interesting note so far.

Development files for Mario Kart 64 reveal that there were supposed to be two different wind-based hazards in the game, described in the code as a tornado and a typhoon.
These would have also caused any racers who touch them to assume the unique "HIT_STORM" state shown in the footage, whereby the racer would be lifted into the air and then descend slowly. It is possible, though purely speculative, that the slow descent could have been intended to also allow for specific shortcuts to be reached.

I still believe the craziest form of computer program storage format from the 1980s is the cassette tape. Logical I get it but to store entire programs on little tape (that I only remember using to play music) is just crazy to me. Idk
Agreed, cassette tape for data storage was really clever. The concept had its heyday was the 1970s in a wide variety of encoding schemes for different computer platforms. It did persist into the 80s, mostly in Europe, while the US switched to floppy disks as soon as they were available for systems. The majority of my Ohio Scientific software is on cassette.
Tumblr media
Talking with UK vs. US Commodore 64 users in particular will highlight the disparity in which storage mediums that were commonplace. I've got a few pieces of software on tape for mainly the VIC-20, but I rarely bother to use it, because it's slow and annoying. To be fair, Commodore's implementation of data storage on tape is pretty rock solid relative to the competition. It's considered more reliable than other company's but Chuck Peddle's implementation of the cassette routines are considered quite enigmatic to this day. He didn't document it super well, so CBM kept reusing his old code from the PET all the way through the end of the C128's development 7 years later because they didn't want to break any backward compatibility.
Tumblr media
The big thing that really made alot of homebrewers and kit computer owners cozy up to the idea was the introduction of the Kansas City Standard from 1976. The idea of getting away from delicate and slow paper tape, and moving towards an inexpensive, portable, and more durable storage medium was quite enticing. Floppy disk drives and interfaces were expensive at the time, so something more accessible like off the shelf audio tapes made sense.
I've linked two places you can read about it from Byte Magazine's February 1976 issue below (check the attribution links).
You might recognize a familiar name present...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are a few ways to encode binary data on tape designed to handle analog audio, but the KCS approach is to have 1's be 8 cycles of 2400Hz tone, and 0's be 4 cycles of 1200Hz tone. I say cycles, because while 300 baud is the initial specification, there is also a 1200 baud specification available, so the duration of marks vs spaces (another way of saying 1's and 0's), is variable based on that baud rate. Many S-100 computers implemented it, as do a few contemporary proprietary designs.
The big 3 microcomputers of 1977 that revolutionized the industry (Apple II, Commodore PET 2001, and Tandy TRS-80 Model I) each have their own cassette interface implementation. It kept costs down, and it was easy to implement, all things considered. The Apple II and TRS-80 use off-the-shelf cassette deck connections like many other machines, whereas the original variant of the PET had an integrated cassette. Commodore later used external cassette decks with a proprietary connector, whereas many other companies abandoned tape before too long. Hell, even the original IBM PC has a cassette port, not that anybody bothered to use that. Each one used a different encoding format to store their data, rather than KCS.
Here's a sample of what an OSI-formatted tape sounds like.
And here's a Commodore formatted tape, specifically one with VIC-20 programs on it.
I won't subject you to the whole program, or we'd be here all day. The initial single tone that starts the segment is called the "leader", I've truncated it for the sake of your ears, as well as recorded them kinda quietly. I don't have any other tape formats on hand to demonstrate, but I think you get the idea.
You can do alot better than storing programs on tape, but you can also do alot worse -- it beats having to type in a program every time from scratch.

*All the farms have English as their primary language of communication, but each farm has a different secondary language they also teach. **I don't have general headcanons for the farms as a whole, but I headcanon specific human characters as multilingual besides Ayshe and Norman speaking the old demon language (share in the reblogs/replies)
Headcanon and not canon because it's more interesting and because for simplicity sake's I think Shirai would say everyone living in the demon world speaks and writes in English by default for reasons below the cut:
• The Western setting was chosen to intentionally make the anachronistic aspects of the farms feel more natural:
Tumblr media
(Mystic Code Book Chapter 1)
• The majority of the legible text shown not related to the original faith is in modern English in the Japanese raws for both humans and demons (them using international Morse code and sounding it out in English as opposed to using Wabun, the signs in Goldy Pond being in English) due to Shirai writing for a modern audience:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Chapter 1 | 4 | 17 | 41 | 52 | 57 | 64 | 65)
However, Shirai's never said other languages weren't formally taught at Grace Field besides Latin:
Tumblr media
(Mystic Code Book Chapter 4 Q&A)
And even if the children were being taught to the tests for commentary on standardized testing, you could argue the kids could learn on their own time if language books are classified under the arts based on the first light novel's description of the library's contents:
Tumblr media
(TPN Light Novel 1: A Letter from Norman - “The Day Emma Cried”)
With the issue of "why didn't Ray ever bring up learning other languages after reading all the books in the library?" coming down to the same reason as this:
Tumblr media
(Mystic Code Book Chapter 6 Q&A)
He just never brought it up. _(:△」∠)_

One of the most defining 16bit computers was introduced in June 1985.
ATARI ST 520
DESIGN HISTORY & STRATEGY
The Atari ST series was born in a turbulent time: Atari had just been acquired by Jack Tramiel, founder of Commodore, after leaving that company. Tramiel pushed for a quick-to-market product to compete with the Apple Macintosh and Commodore Amiga.
Development time: Less than one year — an aggressive schedule for a 16-bit GUI-based machine.
Initial models: The Atari 520ST was the first to ship, showcased at CES in 1985.
Innovative design: All-in-one casing (mainboard + keyboard), like the Amiga 500, but with better modularity (external floppy drive, monitor, etc.).
Former C=64 developer Shiraz Shivji led the design team. He tells a story about the Atari ST/Commodore Amiga history (source) "It is very interesting that the Warner Atari difficulties were due to Tramiel’s Commodore. The Commodore 64 was much more successful (I would say wildly successful) compared to the Atari Computers such as the 800 and the 400. We were also taking away sales from the video games division, the Atari 2600. Jay Miner was at Atari in the old days and was involved in the design of their products. He left Atari to design the Amiga. Atari had funded some of this effort and had an option to buy the Amiga. When we took over Atari in July 1984, the first order of business was to decide what to do with this option. The problem was that the Amiga was not quite ready and would need a lot of money to acquire. We decided to pass on Amiga, but this put enormous pressure on our own development team. Commodore, on the other hand, did not have an internally developed 32-bit graphics-oriented machine and did not have the confidence to develop the machine internally. They ended up buying Amiga for between $25-$30 million and spent a further $20 million or so and yet came out with a product a little after Atari. The roles were reversed, the Atari ST has a Commodore pedigree, while the Amiga has an Atari pedigree!"
MIDI AND MUSIC PRODUCTION
The 520ST included built-in MIDI ports — a revolutionary move. At the time, most other computers needed expensive third-party MIDI interfaces.
Key Software:
Steinberg Cubase – became the industry standard for MIDI sequencing.
Notator – early version of what later evolved into Logic Pro.
Pro 24, Dr. T's, and Hollis Trackman – widely used for composing, sequencing, and syncing synthesizers.
Used by Artists:
Fatboy Slim composed with the ST well into the 2000s.
Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, The Chemical Brothers, and Underworld used it in studio setups.
Many studios kept an Atari ST just for MIDI due to its tight timing and reliability.
SOFTWARE ECOSYSTEM
TOS/GEM: A fast and responsive GUI OS that was very usable on 512KB of RAM.
Productivity apps:
Calamus DTP – high-quality desktop publishing
NeoDesk – an improved desktop GUI
GFA Basic – a powerful programming environment
Graphics tools:
Degas Elite, NeoChrome – pixel art, animation
Spectrum 512 – used clever tricks to display 512 colors
While the Amiga had better graphics and sound, many games were first developed for the ST, then ported to Amiga. Key games:
Dungeon Master – first-person RPG with real-time mechanics
Carrier Command, Starglider, Blood Money, Rick Dangerous
Flight simulators, strategy, and adventure games flourished
CULTURAL IMPACT
In Europe (especially the UK, Germany, France, and Hungary):
The ST became a cornerstone of bedroom coding, Demoscene, and music production.
Local software houses and users created a vibrant community around the machine.
The Atari ST was used in schools, small studios, and households well into the early '90s.
In education: The ST's affordability and easy-to-use software made it a favorite in European schools and computer labs.
DECLINE & LEGACY
By the early 1990s, the ST line was losing ground to IBM-compatible PCs and faster Amigas.
Later models like the STE, TT030, and Falcon 030 tried to revitalize the line, with limited success.
Atari shifted toward consoles (like the Jaguar) and left the computer market.
Long-term legacy:
The Atari ST's MIDI legacy lives on — it helped standardize digital music production workflows.
Many musicians and retrocomputing fans still collect and use STs today.
A vibrant retro software/demo scene remains active, especially in Europe.

ULTIMATE DANNY PHANTOM
TUCKER FOLEY
Tucker had his nose buried in his phone before it was cool. Beyond gaming, he loves tinkering with his many gadgets to find new and creative ways to optimize them. Having access to the spare parts bin from the Fentons' laboratory grants Tucker a veritable buffet of tech to play with. Using their old tech, Tucker created his beloved PDA. Hidden beneath its standard functions is an encryption-cracking algorithm Tucker developed himself, capable of hacking into the most secure computers in town. Once Danny got his powers, Tucker began upgrading a special backpack with even more FentonWorks tech to aid in ghost hunting. Tucker's "Battlepack" contains a powerful, compact radio receiver linked to his PDA which allows him to tap into police radio comms and the FentonWorks' satnav ghost radar. It also includes a link port compatible with Fenton Thermoses, allowing Danny and the team to inspect certain traits of captured ghosts. An integrated Fenton powerbank can charge up all manner of devices, from phones to Fenton Thermoses and beyond. While Tucker takes pride in his role as the team's tech guy, he harbors some jealousy over Danny getting superpowers. That doesn't stop him from being Danny's closest, most reliable and loyal friend.
Powers and Abilities
Multitasking: Heavy is the head that wears the crown. As the self-described brains of the operation, Tucker is thusly saddled with the responsibility to handle more of the complex strategizing that comes with ghost hunting. After all, one does not simply hunt a ghost on a school night. Tucker takes on the task of checking weather, traffic, security, and even variables like public transportation and community events while coordinating with the rest of Team Phantom during a hunt. Tucker's obsession with data and details often prevents him from seeing the bigger picture.
PDA: While Tucker is too insecure to realize or admit it, the PDA he created is practically a superpower of its own. The encryption-cracking algorithm he created is based on a primitive program found in a discarded FentonWorks hard drive, but Tucker's skill with tech advanced the program far beyond its original state. By plugging into any computer linked to a network, Tucker can gain full access to all of its protected files. At the time of its creation, WiFi was still in its infancy. Regardless, Tucker integrated state-of-the-art WiFi tech into his PDA, allowing it to remotely interface with networked devices. Tucker can coordinate nearly all of Team Phantom's operations from the little machine.
Gamer™: Tucker, like Danny, is a proud member of the PC master race. Tucker has one of the best rigs in town, built with his own two hands, and has poured countless hours into late nights playing DOOMED with Danny. Once word slipped that Sam was one of the best gamers in their group, Tucker made it his life's mission to beat her high score in Superman 64, or die trying.
Confidence: Despite his very nerdy interests, Tucker oozes self-confidence. That translates well when talking to peers and adults alike. When Danny needs a pep-talk (that doesn't involve screaming from Sam), he goes to Tucker for wise words of encouragement.
---
Tucker is immensely proud of this encryption-cracking algorithm, but recently it's given him cause for concern. During routine maintenance he'll sometimes discover lines of code that he didn't write. Other times the algorithm diagnostic log shows encryption-cracking attempts that he didn't initiate. It's almost as if the algorithm has taken on a life of its own...

Here’s an LONG ASF infodump about the CPPS I play! The name is Club Penguin Dimensions, my current hyperfixation!
I know how to recognize more than 21 different ciphers to help my friends solve enigmas and such, because playing a Brazilian Club Penguin Private Server moderated by nerds and Gravity Falls fans, I don’t get the privilege of just being casually interested in Club Penguin anymore…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For reference, the guy called CDPI is Raul, a character controlled by the admins and is kinda like our very own Cucurucho… He appears randomly in parties or missions or even hangouts when the server is active (kinda rare because the community is very small but it can happen) and speaks in ciphers and morse code, usually giving us a tease about future events or what the CDPI (Council of The Interdimensional Penguins) has been up to…

There’s also a 125 pages long google docs about the lore (the code and deciphering part, not the actual history lore), it’s still unfinished and doesn’t contain all the codes, and the server has also been alive for only like- One year and a half? Crazy stuff. The list for all the codes that have been used in the game’s lore goes like this:
- Morse Code;
- Galactic Alphabet;
- EPF Secret Code;
- Hidden messages in an audio’s spectrogram;
- ASCII;
- Hidden messages if you edit and photoshop images by changing brightness, saturation and all;
- Braille;
- Nautic Signaling (I think that’s the name? Idk);
- Caesar Cipher;
- Author’s Cipher (from Gravity Falls);
- Steam games ID;
- Base 64;
- Bar Codes and QR Codes;
-!Links on Imgur;
- Binary Code;
- Decimal Binary Coding;
- Masonic Cipher;
- A1Z26 Cipher;
- Jefferson Cipher;
- And the most recent enigma also had Atbash Cipher.
We also got like- 4 Exclusive mascots! Well, one of them is kinda “side character turned mascot”, but you get my point!
Here’s Angie
Tumblr media
She’s the newbie working at Club Penguin News, and she’s known for being energetic sunshine and a conspiracy theorist nut! She can go on and on about gnomes for hours and is very passionate about gossiping. Just a cutie pie!
Next we have Bambadee!
Tumblr media
Yes! This IS Bambadee! The one guy from the Stowaway Story? So, he went through a bit of a redesign, and his story also went a bit different than his original counterpart… After his first encounter with Rockhopper, he became a part of the Migrator’s crew, constantly adventuring with Rockhopper and Yarr and residing in Rockhopper Island when they’re not out in the seas…
And since he’s confirmed he’s an orphan after bawling his eyes out after someone asked if he has parents in one of his meetups, I headcanon that he sees the captain as a father figure. Bambadee is like- My 2nd favorite mascot, he’s very kind and gentle, but always has a brave attitude that inspires and captivates others. He also has a very strong sense of justice, being very protective of his friends… He’s also canonically in the aromantic spectrum.
Here we got Sunny Morinson!
Tumblr media
Sunny is the coolest- A very skilled and dedicated EPF agent that may be one’s of the agency’s best assets. She’s very calm and collected, usually appearing to guide us through EPF missions or to just chill in the coffee shop- She’s a proper coffee addict, works as barista, her best friend is G Billy, and she hangs out with the Penguin Band in the downtime… All the artworks for her events are so pretty istg I love her…
Now, this next guy right here is Guido
Tumblr media
Guido is a nice, but overall very mysterious guy. He’s an icon here in Brazil since he’s probably the first brazil exclusive mascot ever created (back when Club Penguin Brasil was still alive), but anyways, he’s and interdimensional traveler and uses his clock to do so, he’s friendly but very lonely, also has the tendency to being shy in front of thera and just being very reserved. He’s also a pretty big deal in the lore, as in the story, when the og island was fated to die along with everyone that didn’t migrate to Club Penguin Island, Guido along with Gary and Rory created a portal to the new island. Guido also has some connections with interdimensional gods and creatures, with me personally theorizing he’s got some secret connections with >v>
And last, we got Ettore Salvaore!
Tumblr media
This guy… Is a lot-
Think of Stanford from Gravity Falls but if he was greedy, that’s Ettore. He’s and EPF agent, Gary’s main assistant, a genius in his own right, owner of the PuffleBerry Mall, loves theater and plays and is a time travel fanatic. He’s very morally grey in his actions having caused two disasters in the island because of his power-hungry tendencies. He summoned Scorn after stealing Guido’s clock for time traveling shenanigans at the Medieval Party and made a deal with Box Cipher (yeaa Summerween event was WILD), got possessed in the process and almost destroyed the whole island till the EPF rescued him. He’s kind of an asshole but one of my favs with how charming and elegant he can be while being total boyfailure material lol (he’s also canonically bi)
And those were the exclusive characters! They appear on the island periodically along with other mascots, and also worth noting that Rory is a mascot and the Penguin Band very fleshed out characters and motives in here-
Also noticed how we have a lot of LGBTQ+ characters? Yea we got a gay dimension with a gay catalogue too, accessible through the Box Dimensions main room. It’s very pretty!
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
This post is already getting pretty long and Tumblr has a limit of pictures apparently, so I’ll just give these fun facts and wrap this up-
- The mods like showcasing the relationships between the characters, so the mascots make reference to their friends all the time and also appear in groups for major events like (Penguin Band + Angie), (Rockhopper + Bambadee), (Dot + Sunny + Rookie + Stompin’ Bon) for example;
- There are constant additions of codes that can give you all sorts of outfits for your penguin. I personally love using the spiderman clothes or wolverine costume when I’m not rocking the dino hoodie;
- Jetkie is heavily implied canon;
- Club Penguin Dimensions has a version of Bill Cipher called Box Cipher, he’s been promised to return ever since his appearance last year at the Summerween event, where he caused chaos among the island and caused a bunch of interdimensional ruckus (FNAF animatronics and The Mystery Shack and a final boss after the 6 EPF missions you had to do in this party made it my favorite original content of Club Penguin Dimensions ever);
- There’s this one artist that always manages to sneak in a Sonic referencein the arta he makes for the game- Last I checked, the shape of Sonic was foind in Stompin’ Bob’s background art for the Teen Beach Movie event and as a pin in Guido’s bag these last few months;
- There’s a crew of content creators that go live and do videos on Club Penguin Dimensions and it’s lore and events, they’re called “Cream Soda”;
- In March 2024, an original part called “A Cabotagem” happened where Bambadee came to Club Penguin to recruit help in his search for the missing Captain Rockhopper, and after weeks of exploring different islands with Bambadee in the Migrator, we found out the Captain was kidnapped! With an animation called “ O Sequestro de Rockhopper - A Grande Revelação” being released a few months after explaining how the Captain was kidnapped and why, pretty cool stuff.
Anyways, I think that’s it for now. If there’s anyone actually reading this, just know that all I said didn’t cover half of the plot, and if you have any questions about it, feel free to use my ask box, I’m so sad that there’s not a lot of brazilians on tumblr, especially after twitter died, I could talk about these penguins for hours lol

Embedding an Image on Ao3
You cannot host images on Ao3, so you ned to host it off-site, on a format that allows image hosting, such as Tumblr (make sure your post is private, so as not to leak your art), or Squidge.org. Once you have the image url, you can embed it on Ao3.
Embedding an Image in Rich Text
When you have the Rich Text option selected, you will have a bar across the top of the text box with a number of options. To insert an image, put your cursor in the text where you would like the image to appear and select the “Insert/edit image” button (pictured below).
Tumblr media
That will bring up a dialogue box where you can include the image URL and some more metadata.
Tumblr media
If you would like your image to have alt text (useful for screen readers and accessibility!), all you need to do is write an image description in the image description box.
It’s a good idea to size your image, or it will automatically display at full size, which can run off the edge of the screen. You can either choose to specify an amount of pixels (640 pixels will fit on most computer screens comfortably), or you can put in a percentage. Specifying “max-width 85%” (or 90%, whichever) will automatically size your image to 85% of the screen viewing it, which will make it mobile-accessible.
It's important to note that you need the IMAGE URL, and not the url of a page hosting the image. You can find this by right-clicking on an image and selecting "Copy Image Address".
Tumblr media
Image page URLs often start looking like a normal url and might have a "share" as part of the url, like this.
https://antimony-medusa.tumblr.com/private/782903563243470848/tumblr_pqlYRjtCA8qyKsyFI?source=share
The above url will not work to embed.
However, an image URL will often be much more numbers-and-letters-based, and might have a date or the word "media" in it.
https://64.media.tumblr.com/a6b02fe154d74fba37919a27fe507a4d/4afa6d2300b1317f-b2/s1280x1920/91c5ceb5297a9fb0c522eb61ccc4ca7b6c957bf1.pnj
This url would embed.
Embedding an image in HTML
In order to insert an image into your fic using the HTML option, you will need to know the code to insert an image in HTML code. The HTML code to insert an image is straightforward:
<img src="[URL]" alt="[image description]">
Replace [URL] with the URL of the image you want to insert. AO3 does not host images, so your image must be hosted off-site.
If you would like your image to have alt text (useful for screen readers and accessibility!), all you need to do is write an image description instead of [image description] in the code above.
If you would like to set your image to size to your screen, the HTML for that is
<img src=[URL]" alt="[Image Description]" width="max-width 85%" />
Once your image is embedded, you can preview your work to make sure it all works and is sized appropriately, and then you can tag and title it like you would any other work on Ao3 (including the tags "art" or "collage" can be useful), and include the tags you're claiming in your author's note, and then post to your team's collection!

▽ Subway to Stardew - Emmet 8-Heart Event ▽
This plays after getting at least 8 hearts with Emmet and entering the Railroad between 9AM - 4PM on a Thursday after viewing his 7 heart event.
You recieve this letter when you reach 8 hearts with Emmet!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Commentary and progress under the readmore.
▷ Station Steward Thylak
I DID NOT REALIZE THAT THIS EVENT WOULD BE THAT LONG... I could have sworn it was around 14 minutes max! I was worried that the battle stuff went by too quickly! It's almost 30 minutes long! And that's with me clicking away faster! Emmet really meant it when he said he wanted to spend all the livelong day together...
I thought it was going to be roughly 18 minutes. NOPE. WOOPS. This what happens when you write possibly too much.
We are bad at making short events. Vanilla events are around 1-3 minutes long. A day in Stardew lasts 14 minutes and 10 seconds. I would not recommend trying to play this mod spoiler free on multiplayer because time does not freeze and you will die if you don't skip the events. I wouldn't want to shorten the events either... Cutting down their infodumps would just be wrong.
We had a few requests to have a battle event which made me 😅 because I personally couldn't imagine that going well (truth over ideals...). This event was partially made to shut that idea down. The whole tunnel scene is mostly me trying to write an in-story reason as to why there won't be a battle with the farmer against Ingo... Emmet is competitive! This is not just limited to battles but extends to being your best friend! Behind the scenes... I'm just too tired to write out more battles. I actually really dislike single battle format. I'm not making an Ingo battle event. You already have three games to battle him in. I refuse to make more battle events for the time being.
I say that but there's another half-finished double battle event between submas that I switched tracks from to work on Emmet's 8 heart event... I'll finish that eventually.
Tumblr media
Anyways... the creation process did not go by quickly at all either. I sure do have a lot to say on that matter. I do all my coding in google docs (terrible, I know) and so far we have had to make 3 seperate documents becuase things start to break at around 40 pages. The document before Emmet's 8 heart event made it to 64 pages before I abandoned it for a new document.
The longest document we have is around 80 pages along. Which usually contain the draft scripts of multiple events. code documents however take up a lot more since it's basically a giant wall of text. So when Emmet's 8 heart event started to slow down the current code document (the third iteration). We had to give the event its own space.
Tumblr media
Emmet's 8 heart event ended up being 36 pages long alone! Also if you didn't know, Stardew's event format doesn't allow for line breaks so I have been staring at a 36 page wall of text for weeks. I plan to upload a video compiling all the different options later because I feel like all of the "good" options for battle... don't quite make sense in the context of the rest of the story. The farmer is supposed to not be good at battle and lose because they got overwhelmed with information. As the one writing out all the battle options though, I can't bring myself to act like I'm bad at battling. The winning options are extra silly just to justify a loss and because I couldn't bring myself to lie about Wild Charge not being a guaranteed OHKO on Archeops either. Especially since Emmet brings out damage calculations in a few of the options.
Tumblr media
On that topic, all of the battle options play out accurately in a real double battle! I tested. Every. Single. Path. In Pokemon Showdown between the halves of Emmet's team.
Tumblr media
I had nightmares of reliving this same battle over and over because that's all I did when I was awake. Make it stopppppp 😭
The lines about them practicing were references to me actually simulating everything in Showdown! Emmet's frustration is also based on how making this event took over my brain so now I struggle to comprehend how someone who doesn't know what to do in this battle would feel... Thank you Kade for helping me with that part ^^;;;
Your welcome =3
I actually enjoyed the Pokémon Showdown part - when it comes to Pokémon Battles, I have dabbled a little bit into the competitive side of things. Or at least the massive game of 4D Chess... trying to predict your opponent etc. Bait them into making a mistake, etc. There was a good time where we did nothing but Pokémon Battles for a night. And it was fun.
I am in no way good at competitive side of things - (I lose lot but that's okay.) especially in the double battle format. Single Battles I could do. (Though once again, I'm average at best) However I think the most memorable battle I ever had was back in Pokémon X and Y, where I managed to chip away and stall a Mega Aggron with a Umbreon.. And I think Umbreon was my last Pokémon but I kept using Moonlight to keep my health up. My kid self was super surprised and ecstatic that I beaten the odds... but whenever I do Pokémon Showdown I'm either testing battle stuff or making teams. I'm addicted to team compositions and doing a combination of different Pokémon even if it's not the competitive Meta....
I have the choices sorted into good/bad routes in my mind so in most of the routes, Emmet criticizes the player's decisions based on type advantage, STAB, and target. I was torn between the best and worst options for this recording but thanks to Kade's input, you get to see Durant ramming into Emmet instead of him getting mad at you for conducting Shadow Claw on Galvantula.
Tumblr media
Battling Emmet as a first time trainer is not going to go well! Not only is he too competitive and he refuses to let you win (unlike Ingo), he pretty much sets you up for failiure. I'm sorry Emmet but Galvantula's stats are not intended for making her a physical attacker (emphasis on the Egg Move at what cost...).
Not to mention... Emmet is a Battle Facility Head. And you don't get to battle the Subway Bosses in the mainline games unless you have a somewhat decent team halfway through the game. Even still! They can both wipe the floor with you if you're not aware that they are using battle items...
Though I interpret Emmet not going easy on someone as him challenging them to push themselves and exceed expectations. Both Ingo and Emmet as characters encourage others in their own way, Ingo through words and Emmet I believe through his actions. Though he also can say some encouraging things.
Not the most encouraging if you compare their quotes pages... Customer service and communication isn't exactly his forte... But Emmet wants you to do your best and win against him! He likes seeing serious battlers like him! He just won't let you win unless if you push yourself to do your best. You'll have to. He doesn't really have the most beginner-friendly approach...
Considering you the Farmer, have no idea what a Pokémon even is. (You're practically learning everything from Ingo, Emmet, Elesa etc.) The fact you get challenged to a Battle because Emmet wants to share his interests with you - to have you better understand Pokémon.
He just struggles with the fact that, he is essentially challenging someone with no real battle experience and it's a Double Battle at that. Controlling two Pokémon at once?! Think about the effort it takes to command one Pokémon. We all seen the Anime and how trainers struggle to connect with their partners because they're new. They're just starting. They aren't going to be Battle Facility levels of skill.
Not to mention that Emmet is a little deprived in the valley and hasn't really battled any other new passengers in quite some time. At most, he battled Iris once when she came to visit, Ingo (who's Pokemon are optimized for countering/pissing him off), and himself (I had the mental image of him sitting in the field practicing for this event like an old man playing chess against himself in a park). He's a little too far gone to fully understand what a beginner would think in this situation other than mayyyybe it would take a moment to catch them up to speed. (I would know... I swear those option paths rewired my brain...)
After inputting all of their data into Showdown, I had actually forgotten that Galvantula and Durant are Emmet's Doubles Line team while Eelektross and Archeops are the Super Doubles Line team when deciding the matchups. (Been a while since they were in the Battle Subway huh...) Story-wise, I was thinking that Emmet should be with his ace and that he wouldn't really trust anyone else with Archeops since... he has higher support needs (depression bird 💔). Eelektross and Archeops are paired up because of Gastro Acid and Defeatist. I was thinking that Galvantula and Durant are a bit more beginner-friendly; they can take a loss a bit more easilly (a little less so in Galvantula's case... she's a hater). The farmer had already met Durant earlier in the 4-heart event so he'd volunteer to return the favor of fighting for you. Once you win his trust, he's more than happy to help. As for Galvantula... She's testing to see if she can trust her clingy child with you.
I'm excited to dive into the Pokémon NPC stories... Durant and Excadrill especially.
Durant was originally going to have Choice Scarf instead of Quick Claw to help narrow down the options. It was a pain reorganizing my notes and options all over again to lump not only move choices but turn order in mind. My notes were a mess.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Durant and Galvantula are a very luck-based combination so it was ultimately easier to write the different option paths with that in mind since Stardew's event format is verrrrrrrrrrrry linear. All of the options need to merge back into the same event (well... besides the option to refuse his friendship/battle which ends the event in the tunnel). Durant has lowered accuracy while Galvantula has higher critical hit ratios, I could write the battles based on their luck which is great because I wanted to force a loss.
I thought it would be a little too... reductive (it sure would reduce the amount of content >.>) and unrealistic for the player to impress Emmet with a victory on their first battle. Emmet sees this battle as a test on if you can follow his train of thought and be a good match for him because he's a little bit dependent on you for emotional regulation. He kind of expects you as his favorite passenger to have twin telepathy like Ingo since that's his standard operating procedure. You won't. Because you're not Ingo. You're just some weird farmer he got attached to. With the setup of a battle, I wanted this event to develop the farmer and Emmet's relationship to show that they aren't exactly perfect for each other (and Will say things that can be wrongly misinterpreted) but ultimately they will put in the effort to communicate and make things work. They won't have the best communication! But it's there.
While Ingo has a proper library confession, this event doubles as Emmet's "confession" of sorts. Emmet is already pretty openly affectionate by this point and I wanted to make it somewhat ambiguous as to whether or not his attachment to you is romantic or strictly platonic. To him, it doesn't really matter, but he does want you all to himself. He's not fond of sharing!
But... While Emmet's event may be more platonic in intent, you can still reject him. It's a lot harsher than Ingo's because refusing to even let him try to be a better friend for you is pretty harsh in itself. Ingo's is mostly the choice of whether or not you want to send him back to 6 hearts for more dialogue variety (it's really easy to miss dialogue when you try to max out their hearts as soon as possible! We're making lines for every day, season, and heart level.) Rejecting Emmet sends you back to 2 hearts and overrides his daily dialogue for the day with him asking if you're still friends, apologizing, and then getting too upset to say anything more.
Tumblr media
Anyways!
From the start, I wanted Emmet to be like Nemona; awkward in their attachment, somewhat intimidating in their obsession/competitiveness, and thinks of the player as their savior from loneliness. He wants to be the best friend you have because you're the best friend he has. It's only fair. Best rival for life, favorite passenger, same thing.
The mountain pass events were actually made because Emmet's original schedule included him waiting around near the bushes there like Nemona stalking the player on their gym journey. NPCs actually can't path there so when he did, he was just deleted from the save!
I also stumbled across a bug back when I made the very first introduction event where a question loops unless if you pick a certain option. I kept that with Emmet forcing you to keep battling with him in mind as a slight reference to how Nemona doesn't let you say no to being her "best rival for life". This question also makes SMAPI hate you!
Gotta love Pokémon's false sense of 'Sure you have a choice. Your choice is always YES.'
Tumblr media
There's probably a more fitting flower for Emmet outside of poppies. I just looked up every flower in Stardew (some of them aren't real...) and their meanings in flower language to come to the conclusion of poppies. The meanings in Emmet's event refer to the white poppy in particular. White. Rest. Oblivion. It fits. Good enough. It was a bit difficult to find more on the flower language of poppies in English (particularly the "Oblivion" part) so I resorted to Japanese sites for more information.
Tumblr media
In English, the meaning of "Rest" seems to precede every other meaning. Poppies are used in death memorials. Emmet and the farmer did accidentally develop a shared theme of dying (overwork exhaustion, slimes, the mines, etc... Emmet can't get a break. I'm sorry.) but I wasn't sure if Kade was okay with the theme of death being emphasized. With that in mind, I was stunned when I that saw that her first battle map draft included a graveyard. The implication that Emmet picked flowers from a memorial site...
In my mind - the area is an old train stop in between the desert area and the forest/mountains that lead into Pelican Town. Also figured there would be an abandon farm - considering how Pelican Town is struggling it makes sense that potentially other places are not in best of shape either.
The graveyard is possibly dead relatives of whatever family or farmer made their life near the rails. Of course a lot of time has passed... So much so that nature has taken back what was theirs in the first place.
I always make up stories when having a location in mind and this area parallels with the tunnel Ingo takes you through to stargaze around 10 hearts. That area being an abandon coal mining operation.... Coal, Wood, etc. was used to powered steam trains so makes sense for there to be a source for it. I'm not the best when it comes to filling up Tiled Maps with decor - but I at least put down enough for Thylak to come in and make it more fitting for Stardew
Tumblr media
The battlefield underwent quite a few revisions, one was having the battle area be more centered, and changing the old warehouse/worker area to be more like a train repair station with a water stop. I wanted it to feel like a place where Emmet goes to keep himself busy when he's told to take a break from working on the station.
Tumblr media
Here's the final map! The battle area had to be shrunken down to fit in an event. More grass was added because I kept losing track of Joltik in the dirt. There's more flowers for Emmet to observe the quality of and pick tge best ones as gifts that he's too nervous to give the farmer until they wilt and dry. Poppies by the gravestones, of course!
Tumblr media
I also did attempt to make a proper scrapbook sprite for when I eventually have Emmet give you his gift, but I never got around to implementing it properly since... I'm not familliar with adding custom items and its implementation changes in the 1.6 update.
Tumblr media
Despite having access to the modding alpha, I've been procrastinating on migrating to 1.6 since HD Portraits isn't supported yet (I know... 1.6 releases in 3 weeks...).
WOO 1.6 WE ARE NO WHERE NEAR READY FOR ALL THE STUFF THAT POSSIBLY GOING TO BREAK. LOL.
Until next time! Thank you for reading!

Super Mario 64 contains unused small red and green Koopa Troopa shells in its data. They neither share their shape with the green Koopa Troopa shell present in the finished version, nor the similarly-sized Spiny shell, but have their own unique shape.
Based on internal documentation, these were some of the earliest objects created for the game. Unfortunately, all code for them has been removed and they are completely non-functional.
