Cas&Dean VS Claire&Jack

So I wrote [a small little theory] a while ago as to why I think Claire and Jack wouldn’t have been shown on screen together/have any connection throughout the show on-screen/off-screen at all. And so here I will some points as to why I think that is. 

AKA here’s the long awaited essay/conspiracy theory y’all have been asking for.

First of all; let me start off by saying this is 100% meant as a joke (no it’s not) and it’s not to be taken seriously (yes it is) as it’s literally just a dumb theory (it definitely isn’t). And second; fuck the C*W for contributing to every little bit of tinhatting this fandom (especially us hellers) has succumbed to.

Now; for this theory we have to understand a few things:

Let’s start with the first two things.

How Dean and Cas work as individuals

Dean Winchester is a masculine, tough but loving hunter. He cultivates a “bad-boy personality”, and makes sarcastic jokes at even the most morbid times. Underneath, though, he's become hardened by life as a warrior (as Daddy’s blunt instrument, if you will). He’s been taught to fight his father’s battles, and protect the ones he loves and cares for. But soon began to see that neither of his parents (especially his dad) did the job they were given when they had children. He didn’t just have to be a brother; he had to be a father and mother. He’s had to grow walls around him to stay strong for his little brother, but over time, after making a family for himself, it became easier to tear those walls down. However, he has his weak spots and is an emotional and loving human being through and through.

Castiel, the Angel of Thursday, is an angel of the Lord. He’s lived for aeons, and as an angel has (just like Dean) been taught to fight the battles of his creator and father. He’s a warrior, and he’s been given the job to follow the orders of said creator. Only for those orders to be thrown out the window once he meets Dean Winchester. The man who showed him that hate and anger isn’t always the true answer and that you can choose to be good. Everything that he has been taught slowly breaks away as his hard exterior crumbles, and he develops into a being with emotions, as he slowly but eventually learns to love and care for this man, and with that; humanity.

How Claire and Jack work as individuals

Claire Novak, a woman who has lead a tragic life, where she lost both her parents early on. Her father said yes to be the (permanent) vessel of an Angel, and her mother just disappeared after dropping her off to her Grandmother. After the grandmother had passed away, she was left alone. She had to fight through the world on her own, as she put a wall around herself to make herself stronger for the people around her. It took a while before she found her place in a loving family filled with strong women, who didn’t just help bring her walls down, but build a home instead.

Jack Kline is an innocent, naive but loving Nephilim. The son of the human Kelly Kline and the archangel Lucifer. He was destined for evil, as a Nephilim is one of the most powerful creatures in existence. But, with the help of his three Godfathers (heh), he learns that he doesn’t have to be evil. He can be whatever he wants to be. Controlling his powers has been hard, but no matter what happened, his mindset never changed as he grew to love the people and love the things around him. His biological father saw his power, but his chosen father saw his kind soul. Castiel believed he could create paradise, and he did, as he became the God that the universe deserved.

There are alot of parallels between Dean/Claire and Jack/Cas that can be compared to here. Let me show you a few:

So we’ve established that with Claire being Dean-coded, and Jack being Cas-coded, there could’ve definitely been potential for a cute Claire/Jack dynamic in the show. Why wouldn’t they have done that, you think? Perhaps this question can be answered when we look at thing number 3:

How Dean and Cas work as a duo

Destiel is the relationship between the hunter Dean and the angel Castiel. Castiel was ordered by God to free him from Hell, and afterwards he was supposed to do as he was told while Dean was supposed to figure out how to “stop the apocalypse” which happened to be a bunch of garbo afterwards knowing what we know now. Nonetheless, Castiel didn’t listen, as he quickly grew fond of the hunter and, because of him, developed a sense of emotion and free will. This lead to Castiel helping Dean throughout the Apocalypse, and beyond, and they’ve been best friends ever since.

There have been MULTIPLE essays on Tumblr about how this relationship works, and it would be silly of me to try and summarize stuff that hasn’t been said a million times already. But basically; What they have is quite a bit more than best friendship. It has been confirmed in 15x18, Despair, that Castiel has been in love with Dean for quite some time, as Dean’s own feelings are kind of all over the place. Nothing has been confirmed, yet nothing has been denied. But, seeing as all the insane things Dean has done for/because of/regarding Castiel... for instance:

defended his behavior to his brother and father when neither trusted him in season 6

kept his trenchcoat when he “died” in season 7, and keeping it with him in the trunk of his car(s) for the entirety of Castiel’s absence.

absolutely despises angels, and hates praying, yet he only ever prays to Castiel when he needs anything because he’s the only one he trusts

couldn’t get his mind of of him when he was possessed by Lucifer, and later taken by Amara in season 11

Has Castiel being referred to as his Colette by Cain (subtext but not really subtext because it was so incredibly obvious)

was supposed to be completely enamored by Amara and was supposed to be so hypnotizingly attracted to her that he couldn’t focus on anything else, yet he called out for Castiel’s name when it came down to it (aka the equivalent of calling out someone else’s name during sex) 

keeps looking at him like that

acted like a grieving widow when Castiel died in season 13

gets down on his knees to pray to, cry for and apologize to Castiel in Purgatory when there’s millions of creatures hunting his ass

...it’s easy to say that this is more than just a “brotherly friendship” between the two. There is dialogue that would NOT have worked between Sam/Cas because it would’ve felt weird. I wonder why.

So now to get back on topic; why is it that we’ve never seen Claire and Jack on screen together?

Is it because the writers didn’t have time to put them together in any given scenario whatsoever? Is it because the writers didn’t care enough for Claire to give her some more airtime with the boys? 

Or is it perhaps that if there was a possibility that they’d be on screen together, that they’d have a very similar (if not the same) connection to one another as Dean and Cas, only written as an actual little brother/big sister friendship dynamic?

So yes, TL;DR: the actual reason that Claire and Jack never met is because they would’ve had the exact same dynamic as Dean and Cas, but in this case platonic. Which would’ve meant that the audience would’ve seen a clear difference between the Dean/Cas dynamic and Claire/Jack dynamic, and it would’ve shown that the way they’ve been writing and directing the Dean/Cas scenes is romantic.

“Morning.” Vanya greeted as you stepped into the kitchen. “I was just about to make breakfast, do you want some?”

“Uh, sure. Yes please.” You replied, fumbling with your words a little, as you took a seat at the table.

It had been Vanya who had picked a bedroom for you when you arrived the evening before, and when you had shut yourself in there to wait out the side effects of time travel she had brought you something to eat. It seemed like she was trying to make you feel at least somewhat comfortable, and you were grateful for that.

“Mom always used to make breakfast, but since she doesn’t have to follow all of dad’s rules anymore we make sure she knows that she doesn’t have to.” Vanya told you absentmindedly as she cracked eggs into a frying pan. “I think her and Diego went for a walk this morning.”

You waited in silence while Vanya cooked, mumbling a quiet thanks when she set a plate of eggs and bacon down on the table in front of you and took her own seat opposite.

“I imagine you’re probably feeling kind of uncomfortable.” She said, a kind smile on her face.

“Just a little.” You chuckled awkwardly. “I didn’t expect to be welcomed straight away though.”

“Yeah, welcoming isn’t a word I would use to describe this family.” She nodded. You continued to eat in silence, getting about halfway through before Vanya spoke again. “Do you wanna go get some new clothes? I’ll take you shopping.”

“Uh, yeah.” You agreed hesitantly, slightly taken aback by the offer. “I don’t have any money though.”

“That’s alright, I’ll pay.” She replied. “We can go to a couple of thrift stores or something. You can get some good stuff there, I know Klaus goes to thrift stores alot.”

“Okay. Sounds good.” You smiled, shifting in your seat slightly with excitement.

When you finished eating, you and Vanya washed the small amount of dishes that there were while making small talk before heading out into the world.

“So, what’s your style?” She asked as you stepped into a rather big thrift store.

“I don’t know. I’ve never had the opportunity to find out.” You shrugged. “Let’s... start with shirts, I guess.” You chuckled, heading over to one of the racks with Vanya at your side. The two of you talked casually while going through all of the clothes, the atmosphere between you becoming more comfortable by the minute.

“The whole time travel thing still kind of blows my mind if I think about it long enough. I mean, we lived in the sixties for a while.” She said, pulling a shirt off of the rack. “What about this one.” You moved so that she could hold it up to your body, humming in approval as you took it from her to get a better look.

“Yeah, I guess time travel is kind of a big concept to wrap your head around.” You shrugged. “Have you ever thought about the fact that we were all born on the same day but we’re all different ages? Klaus is thirty-four.”

“Oh my god, he is.” Vanya mumbled after a moment of shocked realisation, her face falling in a way that made you burst out laughing. “Wait, I’m the youngest now, aren’t I? Am I the youngest? Are you older than me?” You were still laughing too hard to answer her question, and she ended up just walking away from you before you managed to calm yourself down.

“Wait! Wait, I’m sorry.” You chased after her, holding in the last of your laughter. “You can’t leave me, you’re my source of money for this shopping trip.” She stopped, rolling her eyes before breaking into a smile.

“You’re right. We need to get you a job at some point.” She nodded. “Maybe you can work at Starbucks or McDonald’s or something.” She joked, and you pushed her shoulder playfully before continuing with your shopping.

You spent a few hours going from thrift store to thrift store, and you ended up with about fifteen tops, ten pairs of trousers and shorts, a couple of hoodies and a jacket, all paid for by Vanya with a promise to pay her back when you started earning your own money (though she had assured you that there was no rush, having inherited one seventh of her father’s fortune and all).

She suggested getting lunch as you were passing a cafe, which you happily agreed to, and you took a seat by the window.

“Seriously, thank you so much for all of this.” You said earnestly, gesturing to the bags tucked beneath the table at your feet. “You really didn’t have to.”

“Oh, don’t worry about it.” She smiled after taking a sip of coffee. “I know what it's like to feel isolated and I want to make sure you don’t feel like that. It’s easy to feel like that in the Hargreeves house; we all have a lot of damage.”

“Yeah, I’ve got a decent amount of damage too.”

“Right, with The Handler. What did you even do while you were trapped at the Commission? If you don’t mind me asking.” She questioned, and you sighed.

“Well, it was a lot of nothing when I was a kid.” You answered, leaning your elbow on the table and your chin on your hand. “I didn’t really get an education and obviously there were no other kids for me to spend time with. Except Lila, but she was actually working with The Handler so I didn’t see much of her. They gave me a job when I was seventeen.”

“Oh yeah? Doing what?”

“Paperwork, basically. Stamping and filing and boring stuff like that. They made me a case manager when I was twenty-two and I became a supervisor about three years ago. It turns out that I’m remarkably good at managerial tasks.” You smiled in amusement, but there was an undertone of sadness to it. “Everyday since I was seventeen, I sat at a desk and waited for the day that I could get out of there.” There was a short silence before Vanya let out a heavy breath, lifting her coffee cup.

“To our damage.” She smiled, holding the cup towards you, and you chuckled lightly as you lifted your drink as well.

“To our damage.” You echoed, knocking your cup against hers. “May we finally have an opportunity to get over it.”

Ok so it's been almost 2 days for me I have been reading what others have said on twitter and tumblr stans, I've had the time to process my thoughts and now here is my thoughts I get...

So some people hold their favs on a pedestal which is why those people are the ones SUPER hurt by what happened. We shouldn't have our favs on a pedestal or we will be let down everytime they make a mistake. They are humans just like us and aren't above others we have all made mistakes heck I've made more mistakes then I can count. We love our favs and need to hold them accountable when they do something they shouldn't but like I said their humans and they aren't perfect. A lot of celebs haven't really been following guidelines bc their so out of touch with reality and have quite a lot of privilege [especially if their white] and that is a problem that should definitely be talked about.

It is very sad and disappointing what happened the last few days both of the breaking covid restrictions with everything happening here in California and how this will negatively [ actually already has negatively] effected both Olivia and Harry. A lot are just so confused and hard and just over all tired of all this. Everything we have had to deal with as of late and now this it's just idk gut wrenching knowing all the things families [including my own] have gone through bc of the pandemic and they do THIS.

I 100% agree with people [mostly mean this next part with the twitter stans] calling Harry out for what happened it should be talked about but my issue is with some OT5s not treating each member who didn't follow covid guidelines the same. Some OT5s say they have a lane but there is a difference between having a lane and having said lane on a pedestal while having another member half out the door on supporting them. Example of what I mean their was an OT5 I saw who has a Niall lane and when we got pics of him at a large dinner party with no one wearing masks they defended him to the tooth and nail but with the Harry thing they were so upset and wanted to leave. Another example was an OT5 with a Liam lane fought tooth and nail when we got pics of Liam and Maya surrounded by a ton of people during one of the protests with neither wearing a mask but with the Harry thing they were very upset with him.

You must hold ALL who haven't fullly followed guidelines accountable bc if your giving "your lane" a slap on the wrist and then seeing flames with another member does something then it doesn't seem like you actually care about the problem at hand and you CLEARLY love and support one over another in a negative way. TBH Zayn is the only member who has FULLY followed covid guidelines throughout this entire pandemic and for that I respect him a lot more.

If your a newer stan this PR pap walk is a nightmare to you it's ok it will be ok bc if you talk to an older stan then they will tell you this is sadly not the worst we've been through. 2015 we had to deal with louis close to tears announcing he was going to be a dad when he wasn't and then had the nightmare of 2016 BG stunting every week and Dani pap tuesdays all to hide the fact that Louis is gay. Jeff's dad has ALOT of power in the western music business and when winning an award they said he was like the devil but we all love him WHAT?! MJ and Prince made it clear how BAD the music business is and many dont speak up like they do bc those who speak out it doesn't go well.

Harry has been in and dealing with the music business for almost a decade joining when he was only 16 he must have learned by now how things work and how he has to act and play apart where it seems like he likes these people bc Hollywood is all about pretending, with fake smiles and fake lives. To think it's not possible he was acting when he has 10 years of expereince of faking being happy in the business is not a stretch. When he was only 16/17 you saw him cry and be insecure now he has learned how to fake being happy and except what is going on.

A lot think it is a stretch that the wedding was all a pre planned thing to help push a narrative but look at BG. At the beginning of BG it seemed crazy to think they faked a story and changed louis whole image to make it seem like he got some girl pregnant and had him fake having a kid to hide his sexuality but it became clear that's what happened. I get called crazy and delusional on other apps daily for thinking that kid is not louis saying they wouldn't do that to him louis wouldn't allow this to happen BUT IT DID bc he isn't free and has NO say it what happens So this wedding being fake just to push a PR stunt relationship and the H is good friends with Jeff narrative is not a stretch.

There are articles that prove Jeff was already married to his wife since at least February 2020, we have more pics and articles about Harry and Olivia then of the married couple, why were there paps or drowns at a small intimate wedding of someone who isn't well known when big wedding of big celebs have no pap pics and if it was a guest list of only around 20 then why was Harry allowed a plus one date and heck why was Harry himself who is just a coworker allowed at this small wedding? If you were the couple you would JUST have immediate family and maybe your closes friend not a coworker and their 3 week gf. I think this was all an massive stunt to push a couple narratives.

One think I never get is the fans who when anything happenes stunt wise with louis they say this is all a stunt, it's fake, he has no control over anything and he's no where near free but when this happened with harry they go he's fully free, start thinking maybe Jeff and him are friends, and saying they wouldn't go to this extreme to push a narrative. Listen…this man FUCKS. Like a lot and for a really long ass time. Like each round may not last like super duper long (unless he’s feeling like a tease then he will drag each one out as long as possible) but this man can go so many rounds. He fucking loves it too.

Sometimes you won’t even have time to catch your breath before Paz is ready to go again and there are tears in your eyes as he just continues to rail into you despite you both having reached your highs several times. This man’s stamina is like no other y’all.

I don’t think Paz is really into toys himself. I mean if it’s something that you want to do/try he won’t say no but I don’t see him being the one to seek them out or own them. And if he did use one it would definitely be on his partner rather than himself.

Honestly? Paz can be such a fucking tease. I don’t think it’s something he does like all the time or anything but if he’s in a particular mood or you’ve been a brat all day, he will not hesitate to be unfair as hell. Like just going until you are right on the edge of release and then stopping completely, making you cry out in frustration before picking up again and doing the same thing over and over again. He pretty much won’t stop until your sobbing beneath him begging him to let you cum. Them and only then will he relent and finally, finally, get you to that point of release, following not far behind you.

hmmm…I feel like he definitely has a thing for an SO that is smaller than him. More in the sense that they are just shorter. So this is all in relation to this post and I think that the easiest way to answer this is to say to anyone still doubting, including nonny, to just read the various replies and reblogs on that post, because the answers are perfect. 

Also nonny I know we have spoken in private already and you said that you were feeling better after reading the responses on that post as well so I won’t go into too much depth here, but I still wanted to post your asks in case there are still people out there feeling the way you do.

This is going to be my opinion on the matter, which, of course, is just that. There are many many people out there who were greatly upset by Sherlock and I feel for you all. Its not fair what happened and what that show put you through. Your feelings and your views on the matter are 100% valid and real and nothing that I say here is trying to contradict that. You saw a love story between those characters. That interpretation, like any interpretation of a text, is real and never let anyone say you were wrong. Johnlock still exists within the text of that show, just because it didn’t end with a kiss or a love confession doesn’t mean that it isn’t a valid reading. 

I started watching Sherlock before I ever got into Supernatural. When it came out in 2010 I LOVED it. My film student lizard brain picked up on the Johnlock subtext pretty much straight away and aside from some very brief thoughts of “ooh that would be a different spin on it” I didn’t pay much more attention. I continued to watch Sherlock second season in 2012 and again I noticed the subtext, but at this point recognised that it was all done for humorous purposes. I never thought they would go there. I didn’t “ship” it because I didn’t even know what “shipping” was at the time let alone thought John and Sherlock were more than friends who happen to get mistaken for a couple. That was the gag. It was what made my very typically straight male young brother giggle like an idiot because apparently being mistaken for gay was funny. (It’s not. I hate those jokes. They don’t work outside a Carry On film and I don’t even like Carry On films).

When season 3 came out in Jan 2014 I side eyed the series because I had had enough of the gay jokes. I thought it was getting weird and could see that there was a beautiful bond between the characters that imo was being twisted for cheap laughs. I pondered on whether this Sherlock was in fact in the closet, Were they trying to tell us that he was secretly gay? I didn’t get it because it was never clear enough to me that this was the case and yet they continued to play around with the concept whilst the character of John is off with his fiance. My brother continued to find the whole thing hilarious. It was never taken seriously. My musings on Sherlocks sexuality were pushed aside because it seemed clear to me that the writers were not taking it seriously.

Then over the summer of 2014 I binge watched 9 seasons of SPN. I struggled with seasons 1 and 2, made it through 3, watched 4 and fell in love with an Angel of the Lord. It took me 10 episodes to figure out Cas was gay. It took me a further 2 seasons of umming and ahhing in my own head to conclude that yes,  Dean was definitely Bisexual. It took until 6x20 to realise that this was legit something in the text and not my imagination. It took until season 8 for me to believe 100% that they were going there. (I wavered a bit on that belief in seasons 9 and 10 but season 11 pulled me back and I haven’t looked back since.)

In the early seasons, 4, 5 and 6, I recognised the patterns used between Dean and Cas were the same used in Sherlock. I re-watched Sherlock at some point in 2015 and remember thinking damn yeah they really were shoving the subtext in our faces a bit. But I still didn’t ship it, even though I was 100% shipping destiel at that point. I again pondered Sherlock’s sexuality, had a brief thought of “I’d like to see that take on the story” but again discarded any thought that it would actually be textual in a show that imo seemed adamant in keeping it all about the humour. If they weren’t going to take this characters sexuality seriously, then the story was never going to seriously be explored. 

See if Destiel had always remained the way it was in seasons 4, 5 and 6, then I wouldn’t have any belief that it was going canon. I would probably still ship it (the sexual tension in season 4 was insane) but the idea that it would go canon would have always been a pipe dream. So many shows use the queer subtext as a source of humour. So many shows tease their characters as queer and use homoeroticism for titillation. It delights my idiot brother to no end. I hate it. I think it desperately needs to stop. I have never ever watched an episode of Sherlock and thought that it was doing anything other than just that. (I didn’t particularly like the 4th season though because nothing made any bloody sense and I think they kind of butchered the characterisations - I did say this would all be my opinion though so please don’t take offence).

You say that the show falls apart if you take away the romantic love story and make it platonic. I guess if I was to watch it again I could try to consider that reading, but my own experience watching seasons 1-3 is certainly not from a romantic view point and it all made sense to me. Season 4 didn’t make sense at all, and by the time that was on I was deep in destiel fandom and frequently writing meta, so I DID see the romantic reading in the text and yet still didn’t understand the story. (Again, I stress this is my opinion and is in no way trying to invalidate your own). However, with Destiel, the last three and a bit seasons narratively don’t work without it. I have tried to watch them and ignore every romantic moment, or hint at a romantic love between them, and in doing so, it confuses the fucking plot. I need to sit down and catalogue all the ways seasons 10 to 13 don’t work without destiel to evidence this but it would be a pretty epic job because there are ALOT. 

I understand that you feel that Johnlock and Destiel are similar ships, but my opinion is that they drastically diverted course from each other when SPN went into its eighth season. Since then, there has been nothing quite like destiel in terms of build up and story structure - unless you start comparing it to the straight ships.

Where we are right now, destiel is deeply ingrained into the narrative of the show, and it is never used as a gag. It is never poked fun of in a way that reduces Dean and Cas’s relationship. Something that I believe Sherlock did right up until its last episode. I also 100% believe that the SPN creators and cast have a much greater respect and love for their fans than the Sherlock writers and cast ever did. (I’m not much of a fan of Bendydick Cucumberpatch and I have never been comfortable with Steve Moffat... dunno why the guy just gives me the creeps (then again so does Bob Singer)). They have been so positive towards Destiel recently that I am constantly stunned whenever new media or PR comes out. I am also of the belief that someone as wonderful as Misha Collins who is a champion for the LGBT community and cares deeply about making the world a better place would never ever involve himself in something that if it didn’t happen, would be considered the biggest queerbait in TV history. Breaking the hearts and severely angering millions of fans all over the world. Misha is a very smart man. He knows exactly how much this means to us and what it will do to us if it doesn’t happen. He doesn’t exactly look worried though. He doesn’t ever look like he is guilty over encouraging this ship? He looks like a fucker who knows whats up and can’t wait til we finally get to be in on the joke so he can tweet about it 24/7.

If destiel doesn’t happen, then Misha, of all people.... well... I’d have to rethink my entire opinion of him... the idea is so unfathomable for me, so impossible, it hurts my head to even consider. Did you ever feel this way about BC or Martin Freeman? 

I just can’t believe that the people behind SPN would do that to us, but the people behind Sherlock? Well it didn’t exactly surprise me when it didn’t go canon. The BBC isn’t exactly known for being progressive. It’s known for playing it safe. If Sherlock was on Channel 4 I reckon they would have gone there. The Channel 4 execs probably would have encouraged it from the start. They would have considered it ‘edgy’. 

I know that the CW isn’t exactly the most progressive network either, but its a young network, with a younger demo compared to the grumpy old pensioners who sit and watch BBC every night and complain that their tax payer money shouldn’t be going towards anything other than gardening shows and Eastenders. Soooo I think that has something to do with it too. The CW has a greater chance of pulling something like this off. 

I’m so so sorry that Sherlock burned you. But don’t give up hope on destiel just yet, the factors are all currently in our favour. No two ships are alike, and in my opinion, Destiel is the motherfucking Symphony of the Seas compared to all others. It’s bigger, better, and hopefully, due for launch in Spring 2018.

1 I hear you, regarding Fassbender. Though I have to admit that as a swede I'm quite proud of Alicia. Not of her marriage (though good for her) but for making it as an international actress. Anything that Sweden internationally is known for that isn't safe cars or naked people, I'm happy about! Jup, we sure do. The Midsummer pole. When I was a child I used to think it had something to do with Christianity because it looks like a big cross with two rings hanging of it.

2 But apparently it’s an old Viking/heathen ritual on the longest day of the year when you dance around a penis that is supposed to stand for fertility and bring good harvest or something like that. Nevertheless, when the Christians arrived they tried to stop the heathen rituals, but when it proved impossible they tried to make them into Christian rituals and holidays instead. 3 Making June 21st John the Baptist’s Day, though in Scandinavia he’s known as Johannes the Baptist as Jon already existed as heathen Viking name. I get that’s something to do with posh people (though I’m not entirely sure that I know what posh mean, more than a nickname for Victoria Beckham).You have no idea how much I love Eurovision! 7 As a child I hade to weird talents; I could name all the Swedish regents and spouses since the 1300s and I could name all Eurovision winners. A so called talent that I’ve mostly forgotten today. But my grandma, who’s almost 96, and I still have a tradition that during our national selection (four semifinals, one second chance and the final) when we’ve first heard the songs we called each other discuss which songs we liked and disliked (we rarely agree) no matter where I am. 8 So if I’m out with friends I have to plan that we go to a bar that shows the contest first or watch in my phone. Because my grandpa doesn’t want to watch it, fair enough, his 93 and can choose what he wants to watch, but she sits with pen and paper and takes notes on the songs every week and wants someone to discuss with. And, in difference to the UK, we have to qualify for the grand final of Eurovision. But that whole week is one of the highlights of the year for me. And my grandma! ;-) 9 Yes, Måns is what we in Sweden call a “mother in laws dream.” And I’ve had a crush on him since I was thirteen and he participated in Swedish Idol. I haven’t seen Alicia in anything yet but she’s an exquisitely beautiful woman and seems to be a genuinely lovely person. If Fassbender won’t marry me she’s a pretty good option. 

So many of our traditions are to do with fertility haha. Our ancestors were just obsessed with popping out babies, weren’t they? I love the fact they thought dancing around sticks would help haha. It sounds like you learned alot about Scottish culture. Personally I don’t think there’s much in the way of English traditions other than dancing around that damn pole. I think that when you’re a nation which has been historically oppressed you hold on to your culture a lot more than you might otherwise and it shows with Scotland. 

We do have Fat Tuesday! We usually call it Shrove Tuesday if we’re religious and if not it’s Pancake Day! We all make pancakes and eat them. Any tradition which revolves around yummy treats is good in my book! 

Oh yes Sandi is teeny weeny!! But still a strong presence as I managed to spot her despite the fact she was moving. Yes! We’d say that something goes over our head. If you ever need some translation of our idioms I’m happy to help haha. I don’t watch Made in Chelsea but it’s basically a show about people with money, good families, and no real talent. From what I can gather it’s just rich, posh people dating each other and splitting up.
