is Rock/Romeo different in the japanese ds cute?

(as someone who isn’t fluent) yea in jp romeo sounds like less of a bastard and more like idk. idiot airhead spacey naive kid? the jp version also takes him much more seriously as a love interest option which stresses me out a bit but it’s also cute

for the english version of DS and cute natsume sometimes added some arrogant douchey scum bastard zaniness to romeo’s lines to idk i guess try and match rock? (who has different speech habits / “role speech” in JP compared to romeo) and of course natsume also just handled a lot of DS lines Weirdly or Not at all

Natume EN: “I’ll never leave you. Heh heh.” (troubling)

the divorce fakeout event you get if you neglect your husband (the entire thing)

JP: romeo thinks you hate him and he’s sad because you don’t communicate, and says goodbye.. he comes back and apologizes and admits he never wanted to leave, he just wants to stay together and you head to sleep (all’s well that ends well)

EN: romeock thinks you hate him and he says “is it my looks? my gorgeous looks can’t be fading already, can they?!” when he comes back he’s like “i know you can’t be tired of my looks already. it must just be a phase. well time for some beauty sleep” (who the fuck said you were allowed back in)

other than stuff like that, in general i’m finding a lot of events make slightly to very more sense in japanese because often it feels like each line of dialogue was either translated too literally into english or they didn’t have context, so that also applies to romeo’s heart and random events especially later events / events after marriage / rival marriage

the entire yellow heart event didn’t make proper sense to me in english compared to japanese but one small silly example from it where (probably) no context translation made the scene 10x funnier is when he has his dramatic confession

in JP he realizes he may have hurt you by joking around and making up stories to hide his feelings and apologizes profusely. protag shakes her head no with a heart over it to be like “it’s okay <3”

in EN he asks “Can you forgive me…?” and protag does the same gesture. like “NO <3”

also neither here nor there but his relationship with Louis feels a lot more familial in japanese. in english i wanted to kick him out the window during the child discipline event. in JP it’s more silly… (i still want to kick him out the window but more affectionately…) she overall sounds a lot more idk timid in EN but in JP she’s rougher and teases and scolds him a bunch (good👍). she and her two NEET cats children are a very cute family imo

overall i find natume’s odd additions to the game incredibly funny and enhance the experience in their own way (by making it worse) and i enjoy the more bastardly creature but i also think the more serious and soft romeo is sweet. he still has a lot of “what is wrong with his brain” moments in both en and jp he’s just more douchey in english

Ooh! Thanks for the ask. Ok, random.org dealt me Emile, Tarragon, Thistle, and Sey, so I'll answer in that order. (Links to drawings of them attached.) 2. Did you design them with any other characters/OCs from their universe in mind? Yes! Emile was 100% meant to be Marzanna's opposite. She's the funny little warm-colors jester to Marzanna's monochrome cool-colors depressed knight. Emile wears soft/loose clothing, while Marzanna's decked out in cold unfeeling black armor. And then of course there's the height difference. I wanted them to look and feel like a very unlikely duo, but if you spend any time around them as people you understand that this is how it was always going to be. Unfortunately, they're in love and would die for each other, and neither of them has told the other. 4. In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts? Tarragon is my FFXIV WoL and I've actually started playing recently, so I've been thinking about him a lot. I'm not very far in, but I've decided he used to be a pirate simply based on the fact that I love that Limsa culture is just barely managing to pretend not to be a bunch of pirate crews glued together into a city state. Tarragon is old enough to remember when that wasn't the case yet, and the times after when there was still dissent in response to the instatement of (gasp) actual laws? He left the pirate's life behind to go travel, but I do think it's funny that this makes him an unconventional Duskwight who inexplicably loves cities and the sun. Go figure. 12. What have you found to be most difficult about creating art for your OC? So I actually haven't posted about Thistle anywhere yet, but I was delighted to answer this question for them. You see, I draw a lot of people. So there's just one problem: Thistle is a gun. Thistle (or their actual name, The Sensation of Being Scratched by Thorns) is my character in a game of GUN&SLINGER, where one person plays the slinger and the other plays the sentient gun. Thistle is an eldritch fey being trapped in the form of a magic gun against their will, which they are quite mad about. Now, I can draw a gun just fine (god knows I've drawn rifles for Leonore and Songbird several times) but Thistle's form is meant to be weirdly otherworldly and organic, like plants from from inside not-bone, and I've had a lot of trouble conveying that in a way that doesn't look overdesigned. 14. If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be? I've gotten very good at boiling Sey down to his core qualities. If I had to narrow it down to two, it would be:

angular (the build, the nose, the eye shape. the personality. the electricity theming. yep, this boy is made of triangles)

punchable (if he's not smug and full of himself and angry and all around a bastardly little guy is he even Sey? and yet despite his losing personality he is my favorite son.)

If you have those, that's Sey. If you don't, that may or may not be some other guy who looks like him.

For kind of a long time (a few years, at the minimum, probably about five) I’ve had this backburner idea to collect some imperial guard/astra militarum and convert and paint them up to be Ultramar Defense Auxilia.

I don’t want to clutter up anyone’s dash, so the rest of this very self-indulgent post goes under the cut.

There have been a few impediments to this project. First was my indecision about what, exactly, the UDA is. Is it more like guardspeople, or tempestus scions? Following the latter idea for a bit, I made some Necromunda enforcers a while back.

And I like them, they’re neat, but they definitely feel too elite to be regular guardsmans, and they don’t especially feel very... Ultramar, aside from the paint job and the transfers. Plus it’s hard to get a bunch of rifles for them to make them work as either guardsmans OR scions. And finally they are, fundamentally, too obviously militarized cops. And, you know, ACAB. 

Before you start in, yes, any Imperial army is going to be bastards to one degree or another. Any guardsman is going to be, at best, a shell-shocked veteran who no longer buys the propaganda but keeps their mouth shut on pain of being shot. Hence me going for what I consider to be the minimally bastardly Imperial soldiers- the Defense auxilia of Ultramar. They’re not generally following the Ultramarines into combat in this or that war zone across the galaxy, they’re just taking up arms to defend their own goddamn planets from the ‘nids or the Death Guard or whatever else GW wants to rain down upon the 500 worlds. Which, yeah, are fundamentally Imperial in a very Roman sense. And the Romans were very much Bad People who have no place in any sort of ‘best practices’ government advice, but like. Arguably not as bad as a lot of the other influences on 40k, and a lot more time has passed making it a lot less sus (though god knows there are still lots of right-wing weirdos into Rome) to dig the aesthetic.

Ok. Other points of inspiration? The Plague Wars, some of the only 40k books I’ve actually bothered to read. Transfers: I have a fuckload of Ultramarine transfers I will never get through even though I already play Ultramarines. Music: Sabaton in general, but especially Attack of the Dead Men and Fields of Verdun. So... a Space Roman World War One aesthetic???

Ok. So, justifications and vague aesthetic in mind, I pondered how to go about this. For a while I poked around 3rd party bits sites, taking note of things that grabbed me. After a while, I had a vague idea what I wanted:

A greatcoat, because greatcoats are cool as hell and make a good place for all that Macragge Blue

A breastplate of some kind- single-piece is fine, though lorica segmentata would be ideal

Pauldrons of some kind; again, lorica segmentata style would be best

An enclosed helmet with or without gas mask; these guys would have to be capable of fighting/having fought in the Plague Wars, and if we have learned nothing else from the current pandemic, please let’s have at least learned you don’t want to be breathing in Nurgle-tainted air. Roman theming on the helmet would be ideal, but I can find literally no such thing in guard-scale. A few for marines, which would’ve been keen to know about before painting my hundreds of Ultramarines, but so it goes.

A las-rifle that looked a bit more ‘historical’, somewhere between late renaissance flintlocks and bolt-action. 

A proper trencher’s haversack. Bedrolls and entrenching tools preferred.

They came out with the death korps of krieg guys in plastic a year or so ago, and they ticked a bunch of these boxes- the greatcoats, the gas masks, the vaguely WW1 looking las-rifles. But the helmets were a bit too close to the stalhelm. Scions helmets instead? But no, they’ve got the pikelhaube spike which is very much a Death Guard thing in 40k, and otherwise look a bit too modern. And no cuirass at all, and their feet aren’t armored at all which simply will not do when greaves were one of the pieces of armor Romans actually did wear.

Then, recently, I found these guys. They’re not as crisp of sculpts as the new death korps or the new cadian guys; more on par with the old Cadian kits, but they have greatcoats, cuirasses, and armored shins. The guns and heads are my least favorite part of the kit, but frankly, I’ve got so many goddamn bitz I can probably replace them with something. And you get 24 of them for less than the price of 10 GW guardsmen. And the idea began to take shape.

For helmets, I’m actually thinking sisters of battle helmets. God knows I still have piles and piles of them. They have a vaguely medieval feel to them, and if you threw a crest on the sergeants and a transverse crest on the officers, they’d read pretty credibly as roman-inspired at least. If I’m feeling sassy, I might even greenstuff up some cheek flap things to add to that impression.

For arms/guns, my ideal would be skitarii pauldrons on death korps arms with skitarii galvanic rifles and death korps bayonets. But that’s not happening because the whole point is to get a kill team’s worth of guys with optional swaps for less than GW price, and even buying just the bits would put this well over budget. So. I think the death korps guns are good enough, the arms are perfect, the bayonets are perfect, I just have to either accept that the pauldrons won’t be perfect or, again if I’m feeling saucy, I can maybe sculpt up a little curved top piece to give a more Roman silhouette. 

I think it’s a plan. I have a project in mind for the new year, one that won’t add heaps of models to my pile or put me back all that much money.

Decemberween ’23 — Behind The Bastards

I like depressing media, apparently.

Produced by Robert Evans and a bunch of other people I can’t immediately credit off the top of my head, Behind the Bastards is a podcast that releases about three episodes a week, with a standardised format of Robert, with research on hand, explaining a historical narrative about the worst goddamn people in history, both current and in the past, and the ways in which their ways of being have resulted in a suckier world. Evans’ particular style of journalism is extremely dry and sarcastic, but also seems to project just holding tight on a deeply white hot held rage about the world and the way it is.

And he podcasts about it, reading this story to a friend, who gets progressively more sad and upset over the course of the episode.

Because of the scope of Behind the Bastards, a podcast that releases something like three episodes every week, is so vast, I don’t recommend just grabbing a starting point and plowing through it. There are trends, subjects that the host, Robert Evans relies on, and they tend to be expressed in who he brings on board to talk to.

There’s a lot of general content warning stuff of course. I mean it’s a podcast about terrible people, so sexual assault, both of adults and children comes up. Genocide is pretty common, both in the big one everyone knows about (the Holocaust) but also all the other examples of it as executed in less holistic ways. Things like schools that sought to exterminate a language, that’s genocide. An attempt to sterilise a population based on racial lines? That’s a genocide too! And of course, all the talk about White Genocide is by people who want an excuse to kill all the nonwhite people which is also genocidal. Attempts to drive people out of the country they’re living in, like the ethnic cleansing in Syria? Oh that’s genocide too.

I guess what I’m saying is: You’re going to learn a lot about awful people.

There’s a real philosophy behind what constitutes being a bastard. What does it mean to be a completely arsehole? Some people in this podcast are thoughtless and stupid and make mistakes on minor scales, that nonetheless involve doing something really bastardly. Sometimes it’s people who are important in a massive, widespread way to a whole bunch of people you have no reason to think about in your day to day life. Like did you know the dictator of Turkmenistan built a golden statue of himself, but more handsome and jacked, and made it turn to always face the sun? Weird, huh? Bet you didn’t know Turkmenistan existed before now.

The result is a really interesting kind of mix of general world history, current events, journalistic ethics, deep dives into modern political figures, and sometimes, incredibly important things that the podcast can get you started on. It’s well-sourced, consistently thorough and open about its position on such things.

But if it’s a big dense podcast, with lots of threads to work from. Where to start?

First of all, I recommend checking out the early episodes that Evans made with Billy Wayne Davis, which centre on themes of quack medicine. Billy Wayne has a particularly drawling delivery that presents an incredible sarcasm in response to Evans’ overreach. This thread will involve talking about balls.

Then there’s the times Dr Mister Cody, former Cracked Alumnus, and Katy… not-Stoll? Oh it’s Katy Stoll? And I could go back and edit it at any time and not have this extra clause in it? But I’m not? Anyway, those two, who make the Youtube Channel Some More News. Thing is, that’s really funny, is that these three, together, made me swear off Behind the Bastards on my first impression because the first time they showed up was on an episode where they made a bunch of jokes about the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. It was in this episode that they called a ska band with multiple black members ‘the whitest band in the world,’ which I mean, look, like, Paramore? Brooks & Dunn? Most Yacht Rock? Reel Big Fish is right there.

I kidf you not, this opening of hearing them talking about Ska music as ‘the whitest thing’ just convinced me this was another group of people who huff their own farts and figure ‘if I haven’t heard of it, I can discard it as being inadequately leftist.’

Then Dicky Barrett came out as an anti-vaxxer and the Bosstones broke up over that, which, y’know, that sucks as well.

Eventually I needed some long form content and I saw there’s an early episode on King Leopold of Belgium, who sucked shit and I thought I’d check it out and give the show another chance. I’m really glad I did, I really enjoyed it!

SO. Every book of his is connected through a structure known as The Dark Tower, it's pretty much the foundation of the multiverse and all existence depends on it staying upright. It's held up by 6 beams. You can apply this variation of the multiverse to literally any fictional property. There's more to it but we don't have time, read the books if you want to cry a lot.

WAY back in time this entity called North Central Positronics just fucked around with magic and technology and nearly ruined everything for everyone. They have a bunch of people they kidnapped called "Breakers", who are kept in camps to break the Beams and knock the tower down. This will be important later.

They ALSO made very advanced robotics what were sentient, had their own personalities, and were basically fully autonomous. Shit like...facial recognition despite the tech being way too advanced for 1987. William working for NCP makes a TON of sense and explains why the animatronics can do what they do. Bitches run on Eldritch Power.

(There's two other related corps- Sombra and LaMerk, that also fuck around, Sombra is just Bastardly and LaMerk does the metalwork for NCP, they're not terribly important to this Theory).

So, IT. Derry, Maine appears in tons of SK's work and there's ALWAYS some shit happening. Not just when Pennywise is active, (though the Bite of 83 could have contributed to Pennywise waking up in 1984, this is the only part of the FNAF timeline that lines up with the Novel).

So, say you're a british bastard who pits his kids against each other, who just likes to cause kids pain, who does a little murder here and there......a city so desensitized to missing kids sounds like a nice place to settle down. Especially if your robotics company is just a derivative of the people that build machines to ruin everything forever.

Remnant is either fuel for the Breakers or for the Machinery that facilitates the breaking. Either way every single game takes place in Derry, and the animations do offer a nice, easy form for Pennywise to take when it's awake eating children.

🌪️ TORNADO - what is the biggest change you’ve ever made to them? how have they changed from their original version? Oh man,,,,,, I think Villiam would be the one to have changed the most. Like Ire, she's a self insert OC, she's kind of always been consistent, but she changes a little depending on the content she's in. But Villiam is definitely not the same guy he was when he was first created. A lot of the original scenarios and ideas my friends and I had for him still apply for the most part, But as for himself in general? At first, he was kind of like? the silent gentle giant type? spoke few words, and fairly soft spoken too. Had hints of a slight mischievous bastardly personality that only came out when you really got to know him, but for the most part was just. this big calm fellow. And now? He's like. a Jock. but a nice jock who likes to read and defends you n shit. the mischievous bastardly side of him broke through and now he's a bit of a menace, but he's still a huge sweetheart. Talks a lot more then I had originally imagined for him. There's so many other changes that I can't quite pinpoint but they're there. And honestly, I'm much happier with how he is now then how I had imagined him at the start. I wouldn't have him any other way now <:D

🎀 RIBBON - how would they fit into other worlds / aus? what aus would you like to try out? what fictional world would they fit / not fit into? ohohoho,,,,,, -slaps the roof of Ire and Villiam- these bad bois can fit so many AUs in em- I have. many AUs that these two are involved in. The main AU that I focus on when I'm not thinking about OG content with both Ire and Villiam is the Modern AU, which is like. taking them from the normal Minecraft setting and throwing them into the modern day setting. But there are a bunch of other AUs i have for them as well! We got a Cowboy AU, a Royal AU, a Mermaid AU (also happy MerMay yall ❤️) and a few more laying around here in my brain somewhere. none of these AUs are nearly as developed as Modern AU, but they're still there <:D. I think for the most part, these two would be compatible with most generic AUs? I think it just really depends on if I like the vibe of the AU <:D

Because I went to Asgore Dreemurr's School of Naming Things. Rule of Five and Astaroth

*McDonald's voice* Can I get a number five theory with demöns?

I've been wanting to make a post about this for a While So Here We Go:

Asta and Liebe's lives are very much connected to the number 5.

Five leaf clover grimoire, Fifth of October were found, five scars and all that. At the age of 5 or so, children awaken their magic. At 15, they get a grimoire.

The number five is pretty relevant to both of them, as its likely a number of meaning to Asta specifically.

And I feel like this is gonna be even more obvious in the later climax of the Qlipoth Arc.

Now, about Asta's devil union form that has me BUGGING:

Where the fuck did the second horns/additional markings come from??? And whats with the crosses??? Is Asta some antichrist???

So then it hit me, that Asta's parentage isn't so much as "Asta has demon parentage/is half demon" so much as "Asta has a demon ancestry/ancestors used to mess with demons". It would make more sense that way.

With Licita never actually stating that she was cursed, simply that she has a body that steals mana and life force from around her. Plus, being cursed wouldn't actually be enough to throw someone out of the village entirely, but being related/descended from a demon (seeing as how the villagers knew what a devil looked like) might. It would also explain why Licita was so used to the idea of demons or superstitions about them: she has one as an ancestor. And maybe at some point down the line the genes either went dormant/became too thin to actually show any traits.

I'm going with the dormant option because Asta and Liebe's devil union would essentially awaken the dormant genes, but only while in Union form as a way of exposure.

It would also make sense as to how Asta survived while being in contact with Licita when he was born. Licita was probably under the assumption that, since the cursed body took Asta's mana as a baby, it would take his life too. But it wouldn't because Asta's life force isn't completely human, so while he would have ended up being a sickly child, he wouldn't be dead per se.

Its a different take from the half demon theory but its also something that Tabata would pull in his reverse trope habit.

As for Astaroth, someone on twitter shared this handy pic:

Which shows an approximate show of which demon goes first and who goes last. The order and the Qlipoth positions are actually reversed, so we'd get something like this:

Which is a little approximate and not sure if it goes this way, but there's a strong possibility that Astaroth would be the fifth demon to bust out.

With Asta's name being up to several meanings, some that come up is meaning the word "to love" from Nordic (connected to Licita who named Liebe "love" in German), "great strength" (his main ability), "star-like" (his personality) and a literal exerpt from the name Astaroth (this fucking bitch).

With Astaroth most definitely being part of the Qlipoth, and several namedrops and lore connections which I mentioned here, this bitch would definitely be the type to just leave a bunch of bastardly descendants around for either host material or simply for the shits of it.

I can imagine that, with Morris adding the growth of the Qlipoth, Asta beating the ancient demon and having to take time to get to spade on its own and maybe even cutting down the second ancient demon, we can approximately predict that he'll readily arrive in the battlefield when the 4th/5th gate opens to raise the stakes.

So I'm assuming that Astaroth is gonna see this gremlin with a parody of his face cutting up his coworkers and think "Ah shit, the descendants survived. Welp, I wanna retire after this either way, so time to pick up an heir."

The reason for this is that Astaroth is also gonna be the 5th "demon" Asta fights (Zagred>> Dante>> Nacht>> Ancient Twin Demon>> Astaroth) in this arc as well.

With the number 5 playing into the likely fight against Astaroth, I'm assuming that either Astaroths death gives Asta some form of hint or bonus to defeat Lucifero: either a weakness of his or a new sword.

Like a Fifth Sword.

My theory is that Asta's fifth sword is gonna be a sword from the Underworld, likely one that had been under Astaroths possession, and the one with which he'll be able to completely defeat Lucifero with. Because a sword that was made in the Underworld will absolutely mirror the effects of the host in the human realm to the devil in the origin world.

Its also a numeric symbol, with each of the swords from Licht representing the three leaf Clover (faith, hope, love) and Yami's would represent luck (either they were lucky to beat Dante or unlucky that Zenon came in the last minute). With that being in mind, the fifth "leaf" or sword in this case would definitely be a demon sword.

People have also speculated that Asta and Liebe's Devil Union form looking unfinished or yet to grow fully, so maybe Astaroths death would give/develop The form to full maturity in a way.

My thoughts on a goodneighbor/hancock rework so far:

-i would love more notions to you being the general of the minutemen from him, and depending on how many settlements you have and whether the castle is back, hancock makes comments about it when you greet him. Like...hes a mayor of a pretty important settlement and youre basically the major competition. He should have some thoughts about that.

-redo how hancock becomes your companion. Just...hnn complete rework. I have a feeling the quest wasnt supposed to lead him into being your companion originally, it doesnt flow as well as the other companions. Mostly because other quests at least hint at it being about taking someone on as a companion but this ones just all about bobbie but at the very end its like “suprise! Hancocks your friend now”. Basically, I know it feels very...fnv, but i think if you did a bunch of odd quests that help establish an more independent goodneighbor it wouldve made more sense for hancock to be able to leave. Help fix a water pump, help set up a co-op with daisy, and help give the neighborhood watch better defenses...all without settlement building lol. The main quest that would lead to him being a companion would be goodneighbor getting attacked by a raider gang (specifically finns gang, u kno, that guy hancock stabs), and because of you, its able to defend itself. Hancock realizes this and that hes screwed up and been slacking off, so he wants to go with you to learn some things about how you run things (also...he says fahrenheit is mayoring while hes gone, just for added coverage). After enough affinity he has like a mini side quest where he asks to help get a fusion power generator for goodneighbor, and when you go back its all light up and cleaner then before

Altenativly: you could...not help him at all and side with the raiders and they take over goodneighbor. You get some neat gear and occasionally misc items from them but thats about it.

Alternatively alternatively: you can convince the residents with charisma checks that that their mayor sucks and have them turn on him, and it becomes independent. Hancock is either killed or kicked out. If hes spared, you can convince him to be a companion still, and he learns how to live a new life as just john.

-id love to make hancock more...bastardly? But still good. Like i had this idea about a quest: you get a scout’s message for a settlement that needs help, but when you go there its just hancock. He bribed the minuteman so he could have a private meeting with the general, to discuss future plans for goodneighbor. Hes noticed more minutemen roaming around, and although its helping keep raiders at bay, he wont appreciate new guests coming into goodneighbor “uninvited”. He says he wants a gesture of good faith, so you either give him some caps, or with high charisma you can convince him he needs the minutemen for free. After that theres a small MM outpost with a patrol. (Bonus point, hancock “invokes” the 3rd amendment and as a soldier/lawyer the sole survivor gets a kick out of it)

Nah, I never watched it so I can’t recommend it. Nothing from the Unicron Trilogy ever really appealed to me but there are plenty of people who have watched the series and enjoyed it so to each their own. If you’re interested then I say watch an episode or two just to see how you feel and go from there.

nah I’ve heard of it but never played it and the gameplay itself doesn’t really appeal to me so I never got interested. I’m sure there’s hot men in there but too much effort to get invested.

1. What themes would you like to write about that you feel don’t get explored very often?

Generally speaking, I think the in-betweens, the casual time-skips, and the quick intermissions are the things that get glossed over the most. The “missing scenes”, if you will--the hours after a squabble between a team, the morning before the battle, the months where a child sat idle, the dreams that turned into prophecy. 

I also think the theme of re-connection is not often explored--its always “love on first sight” kind of deal, but what about the enduring kind of love, the kind that stays like an ache in your bones? the one you remember and miss? the one you long for like a phantom limb?

2. What are some common elements of stories you are tired of seeing? What would you avoid writing about? 

This varies wildly between fandoms, but probably the thing they all have in common is: mindless smut. Just straight up down and dirty fucking, with no motive or prompting or characterization. Just the author smashing two guys (usually) at the hips and being done with it. 

That’s fine; we all love to see it. It’s just so dull sometimes. 

I need some intricacy, some intimacy, some ache, some angst, some destructive lines and some ruthless gut-punches, you know? Not a guy coming for the fifth time. 

For the AFTG fandom: I’m tired of seeing people being fine with the way Sakavic treated her characters and coddling Neil & Andrew in the face of it. I don’t hate Andreil, I feel like I should say, but so much of it relies on one or the other sticking people with their knives or fists and that’s such a toxic love, a misconception of what a “good” relationship should be. Now, there are some brilliant fics I’ve read that are just gorgeous with the concept of Andreil--that was what I wished Sakavic had the ability to achieve in her series, while giving dignity to Kevin Day and the rest of the characters that were there and LIVED despite the romance. 

So, obviously, I would avoid doing any of the above I just mentioned, and pray that you will too. Just let these ppl breathe, alright?

For the AoT fandom (yeah i dabbled cuz the manga is just. depressing man): same issue---too much fucking, not enough talking and emoting. Why are there so many goddamned high school AUs? My god. I need a fic that gets down and dirty with the shit going down in the manga and take me through it so I can stand to continue. What about the grief and mourning and the betrayal of it all? Can I get me some of that? Lord, don’t go near the Levi/Eren tag. Y’all just don’t even knock it. Go to Levi/Erwin or something. Or just don’t. Don’t.

For the BNHA fandom (lol. a staple): actually, there’s quite a bit of diversity here so I geniunely can’t complain about much. The sheer magnitude of the English-speaking fandom helps on that end, I suppose. I do think there should be more fics looking at the Shit n Grit of Hero’s society tho, Stain-style. The people the heroes couldn’t save or didn’t want to, the forgotten bodies and the cooling hands, the victims that never got closure, the heroes who got maimed and multilated and couldn’t get back on their feet once the limelight left em. Those sorts of things. I think the fact we see thru the rosy-eyed worldviews of a bunch of green-eared kids deludes people to the fact that People Are Fucking Bad and Disgusting almost all the time. So exploring that, I think, is far more worthwhile. 

But I will also take injury aftermath. I’m not a monster.

For the KNY fandom: EYYY we talk about grief and suffering a lot which if you haven’t noticed, is kind of my Jam! Actually, this fandom prob hits a lot of my sweet spots: role reversals, grief/mourning aftermath, SabiGiyuu, Sabito Lives, the usual! Can’t really say much abt this. Except, there’s a lot of Demon Sex and Rape and, uh. Guys? Can we go back for a hot sec?

For the Code Geass fandom (*rubs hands in glee*): SO this is the fandom I’m most active in aside from AFTG at this precise moment. It’s pretty dead, tbh. My favorite two fics in the AO3 archive was published in 2014 and the author hasn’t written for my fav pairing (Suzaku/Lelouch) since. So. There’s that. There’s also a lot of fucking here! And gross cishet dynamics, but, uh, whatever. I think the Emperor Lelouch/Knight of Zero Suzaku has been overused and abused for rough sex and just general Angst-ing it out. I wanna see how their dynamic plays out like that for sure, but what about when they still had secrets between them a mile wide and had to tell each other half-lies and half-truths? How about them coping with the fact of their betrayals and the death of their loved ones at the hands of each other? Where’s the hardcore shit? 

Think this fandom doesn’t want to dig their fingers in too deep. Shame. 

Another thing: CC is not an immortal seductress. My god give her pizza and some fucking DEPTH. She’s a walking encyclopedia, not some mysterious slut machine! Get your stereotypes and fetishes outta here!

Final thing: TALK ABOUT THE SHIT SUZAKU HAS BEEN THROUGH! He’s not just Lelouch’s boytoy or knight! Stop that! Examine his abuse, his time with the military, his span as a pawn! Look at his motivations and his internalized disgust for himself as a Japanese that was ingrained in him by an oppressive fucking system! Why does he bow? Why is he silent? Speak for him!

Suzaku watched him watch the discoloring, and Suzaku watched the stillness change into the bare bones of animosity. It was almost kind, the way Lelouch turned his face away and shifted his grip to snatch up the antiseptic.

Neither of them spoke as sharp hands dabbed at the slightly split skin and wet bruising. It stung, but only a little. Long minutes passed like this, Lelouch exchanging swabs for cloths, Suzaku sitting still and watching him work.

Neither of them mentioned the scatter of old deadened skin, puckered across Suzaku’s build like a migration of mutilated fish.

"You know I can't be seen with you two."

"And I just warned you to not be a coward." Lelouch's eyes gleamed. Again, the challenge was there, and like a fool only Lellouch could make of him, Suzaku took it, open-mouthed and open-palmed.

"Fine," Suzaku said, not knowing what he'd promised himself to: a dinner or a duel. Even though the last time Lelouch picked up a sword it was wooden and he was tiny and cute and clumsy. But Lelouch didn’t need blades to cut. "I'll be there. Does Nunnally still enjoy a good scone?"

"Bring the blueberry ones," Lelouch said, extending the comment like a plank between them, and leapt off the wall, into the white sun. "One for the bastardly son and one for the disowned daughter."

Suzaku followed him out into the blaze of heat, feeling the crude perch of his laughter at the base of his throat. He was so fucking dramatic. "Which one of us do you mean?"

9. What scene was the hardest to write for you and why?

From the same wip fic from above--I’m stuck on the “light” kind-of crackish scene where Suzaku is literally just exasperated with Rivalz and his porn mags. Like I just can’t write it. It’s too.....friendly. And “nice”.

10. What scene was the most fun to write for you and why?

Out of the same fic as above: probably the scene from #8. It was fun to see how coy and rough-mouthed Suzaku could get once he’s together with Lelouch. Just to see them fool around with each other whilst keeping secrets but also somehow be honest was very satisfying and interesting to write out. They are just boys, there. Just boys. In love.

(I’ll be honest, I have completely lost track of who all I’ve brought in.

It started with Boyd, then I brought in the Drakes, Gyro and Fenton for some v1 stuff. Then Huey. Then Mark for some bastardly actions in v2. The a bunch of the cast made an appearance at Boyd’s birthday, before Akita decided to sneak in. And the list just kept growing after that.

At this point, it’s a fair amount of the cast, far more than my background muses list (which admittedly needs to be updated). And we just bring in people if/when we need them, or even just WANT them. Storkules has a cameo at one point for no reason other than it was funny and also it turns out writing him is REALLY fun.

We’re not really sticking to any rules here, we’re just having fun.)
