I’ve got enough of my things over to the new place that I’m ready to start sleeping over here. I have now had my first shower here, and I must say, that is the Worst shower set-up I have ever had the displeasure of using. I am including the gross outdoor camp showers of my youth in that assessment.

It’s a 3x3 glass stall. If the shower head is not angled directly downward and the stall door is open, it sprays out onto the tile. The drain cover is not actually attached to the drain and is a trip hazard. There are no grab bars or other support structures. There is barely enough room for me to lean over and wash my legs. I might be able to get my shower chair in, if I need it, but I’m skeptical that there’d be enough room leftover for me to sit in it.

The only other shower is up a flight of stairs.

If I have a major knee or hip dislocation while we’re living here, I am fucked.

on a scale of 1 to 10 how *clean* are the public bathrooms (or fast food place bathrooms) in the states?? i am appalled and my flabber is ghasted because *hes* the one whos shocked at how clean ours are

(and by clean i just mean like. idk clean-ish mirrors, floors and sinks n like no mystery substances anywhere. the bar is quite low as is)

hmmm well you see i don’t have anything to compare it to because i’ve never been OUT of the states, but like id say a four maybe? it depends on where you are. and like i try not to use them if i can get away with it. they aren’t nice by any measure but i’ve never been shocked by how bad they are? maybe i’m just desensitized to it idk 🤷

The way I've heard about how some people with a penis will go into the bathroom, raise the toilet seat, do their business, flush, and then walk out without washing their hands because "Well I didn't touch my genitals" like pal if your dingadong has more germs than the toilet seat or the flush button then I fucking worry about the status of your dingadong and your health in general

I can't find any reliable sources on if 17th-century inns and hotels had individual bathrooms per room or if it was a shared privy/outhouse/chamberpot kinda situation. I kinda assume its the latter but if anyone has any better grasp on it I'd love to know
