Star Wars and me

So...up until recently, I'd never seen Star Wars. This was a point of pride for me, because I was - and still am - sick and tired of being told (by the toxic fanboys, not the kind and awesome fans) that I was not a 'proper sci-fi' fan because I'd never seen any Star Wars film and that was a blight upon humanity.

But a friend (@fanboy-sloth you tricky minx!😘) pushed me headfirst into The Mandalorian, insisting I didn't have to watch any other Star Wars stuff, just that, cause it was so good. And it was, it is, and I adore that show. But because I liked it, I decided it was time to try the movies. So a few months ago I watched all 9 movies. I have since re-watched them:

The Prequels - they were...not very good. My least favourite trilogy. The over-use of CGI that is not the best makes me sick, and of course, the plots are largely predictable because of the original movies. Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi was iconic though, and Hayden Christensen & Natalie Portman are both very pretty to look at and adorable as Anakin and Padme. The first one of them was my favourite, but I wasn't too impressed with them.

The Originals - Okay, these were, in my opinion, beautiful trash. What I mean by this is, they are enjoyable, fun , campy and not high-brow, intelligent(??ya know what I mean?) movies. I'd been led to believe these were the most serious, badass, amazing films ever. In reality, they were fun, campy adventures that I rather enjoyed if I didn't take them all that seriously. I didn't find them to be amazing, but I enjoyed them, especially the last one with the Ewoks which had me laughing so much. Also, C-3P0, R2-D2 and Leia are all awesome! Wasn't a fan of Han, and I hated Yoda tbh. Luke was pretty cool though, and Chewie of course!

The Sequels - These were my favourites (likely because of Oscar Isaac and John Boyega tbh). They were much more my speed, and I really liked the first one of them. After Moon Knight and understanding the hype for Oscar, these movies satisfied a craving. (Also, yes, I ship Stormpilot, so what?!) I found them funny, interesting and more enjoyable than the others, and where a lot of people were cross - e.g. Luke throwing the lightsaber away - I just found humour and/or enjoyment. They felt a little disjointed and didn't always make great choices, but I liked ALL the central characters (which I didn't in the others) and found Poe, Finn, Rey, BB-8, Rose, Leia, Luke, Han and Chewie amazing in these. There could've been more done with the Ben Solo/Kylo Ren thing, and Rose too, but they were my faves.

In conclusion; no, I'm not a Star Wars fan. I wouldn't label myself as such anyway. However, I like these movies well enough, especially the sequel ones, so if you see me reblogging gifsets and art and such....just smile and don't call me out on it? Please? This franchise is not really a fandom for me, but I do like it and want to engage with some of the content.

Investors in anything will do everything they can to not lose on their investment. Sport is entertainment, a large branch off the wise ol' tree of the entertainment business, in the vast backyard of LA its celebrities (money). Emphasis on the words celebrities and business. Why? Bc that spouts the gigantic marketing moola money and many other moola opportunities. LA will always LA. Do I think ACFC can throw the bag at JH? OH YES, and they'll figure out a way. Why? There's 4 million people in LA and a need to be entertained by sports. If they just get 25-45% ROI within their niche market with growth, its still a win for Natalie Portman & Co. Yet, will they actually take that risk? We shall see very soon. The league needs a Beckham, and ACFC is likely playing footsies with JH behind the scenes to see where it leads.

Of course another friend who's in a supporters group for ACFC sent me a DM through IG tonight saying she noticed JH has started following the South African striker just signed by Tigres. Jenni and her follows and unfollows ... sigh...

Have you seen the latest squad meltdown?

Will & k8 are in cahoots with the American press and the American paps. They hired the paps to chase megri through midtown Manhattan at 80 mph for 2 hours without any cameras or cellphone footage in NYC capturing said chase. You'd be lucky to go 30 mph in midtown Manhattan even at 10 at night. Also, the island is only 13 miles long!😭

The squad is also going off on Natalie Portman for wearing that iconic Dior gown at Cannes this weekend...because she's copying Megri who loves Dior. They were calling her ozempic face🥴 They must be young because Natalie has been a Dior perfume ambassador for over a decade and has always been very slim & petite since her Star Wars days. Leave poor Natalie Portman alone!

How has Star Wars impacted your life?

Star Wars has definitely had a huge impact on my life. My mom named me Natalie after Natalie Portman because of her role as Padmé in Star Wars. My mom really loved how Padmé was very persistent in her political career as young as she was as well as her kicking butt and being very intelligent. I definitely made friends in school from Star Wars and have been a couple characters for Halloween. I was R2-D2 when I was 7 and BB-8 when I was 14. I mostly made my own Halloween costumes but my mom and dad would help with stuff I couldn't do. (Electrical wiring for BB-8)

Who would you cosplay as?

I don't really know, hahahaha. I kinda want to do a gender bend Anakin because I already have some material I can use plus that would be easier in terms of makeup and hair. My only problem with cosplaying characters that can be serious/broody is that I tend to laugh when I try to take a picture while trying to look serious. So if I end up doing that as a cosplay I would probably have a bunch of shots of me just cracking up.

Time for a story - A little crush

“God, that guy is so hot.”

Hearing Felicity say that, Oliver dropped the dishtowel to the counter quickly. He hurried over into the living room where Felicity was sitting, sprawled out on the couch, while she was watching TV.

“And a jealous husband appears.”

Although Felicity had mumbled those words under her breath, probably trying to hide them form him, Oliver hadn’t missed them.

“Who is hot?”

A smile was tugging at the corners of Felicity’s lips. She continued watching TV like she wasn’t aware or didn’t mind that he was standing there at all. Since Oliver knew her as well as nobody else knew her, he could see that she was very much aware and vigilant about his presence though.

Oliver guessed that she wanted to play this little game of teasing with him because she knew that his senses, especially his ears, were a lot more trained than the ears of most other people. If she hadn’t wanted his attention, she wouldn’t have said anything at all. If she wanted to play this game, he would happily join in though.

“So?” he asked once more and stepped around the couch. “Who is hot?”

Oliver rested his forearms on the back of the couch and leaned forward. He glanced at the TV, seeing some gossip show airing. Photos and videos of a tall Afro-American guy with broad shoulders and strong arms were being shown.

“He?” Oliver asked when Felicity still didn’t answer.

“Hm-hmm.”

Felicity hummed in agreement, nodding her head. Her eyes were almost like glued to the TV. When a video of that guy training shirtless started playing, Felicity sat up a little more upright and almost caused her head to bump under his chin. It would have probably ended painfully for both of them if Oliver hadn’t managed to pull away by the last second.

A low growl built in his chest when Oliver was watching the video. That guy would definitely not be able to hold himself in a fight against him, but he’d match his muscular appearance anytime. Maybe, his muscles were even a little bit more defined than Oliver’s were.

“Who is that guy?” Oliver asked once more. “I don’t think I know him.”

“His name is Idris Elba.”

Idris Elba. Oliver guessed it was a name he should add to the list of people he didn’t like. He didn’t know that guy at all, but that didn’t matter. Anyone who was able to attract Felicity’s attention with a handsome appearance belonged onto that list.

“Idris Elba,” Oliver repeated that name loud now. “Who’s that?”

“He’s said to be playing the new James Bond,” Felicity told him, “and I think James Bond has never looked hotter.”

“I thought you were into Pierce Brosnan, and wouldn’t accept any other actor to play James Bond after him.”

The report about Idris Elba ended just now. Finally, Felicity was able to tear her eyes away from the screen. She angled her head back and shot him an incredulous look.

“It’s Idris Elba.”

She said it like it would explain everything. Maybe for Felicity it did. For Oliver, it just rose more questions.

“I think I will have to google a photo of him and save it as my new background for my phone,” Felicity told him. “What’s better than seeing his face every time I grab my phone?”

Oliver had an answer for that. He actually had a thousand answers for that. Instead of voicing any of them, he just bit down on his tongue though. Felicity was way too good at playing this game of teasing.

“Well, my face for example,” he said despite knowing better after al. “I mean…”

He gestured up and down his face, and Felicity shot him an incredulous look. suppressing a chuckle which ended in a snorting sound. She turned back to the TV, shaking her head slightly. The corners of her lips were still twitching from amusement.

Oliver figured it was time to switch tactics. He had the choice between trying to make Felicity jealous as well and going into utter romantic mode. While the first would probably be the most fun, he knew that he’d get a kiss much sooner with the second.

“I guess he is on your three-listen then?”

The three-list. If it hadn’t been for Iris and the fact that he had been on her three-list, he wouldn’t even know that a list like that was a thing. Since he had been with Felicity, they had talked about that list from time to time though. Neither of them actually had a list like that, but sometimes it was fun to tease each other with it.

Felicity puckered her lips, looking at Oliver again. He could see that she senses that there was something going on. Still, she didn’t say anything about it yet.

“I think he is,” Felicity replied.

Oliver nodded slowly. “Who else is?”

“Chris Evans,” Felicity replied without hesitation. “Definitely Chris Evans.”

“Not Christ Hemsworth?”

“He would be because he is hot and he’s great daddy material, but I already have an army of kids,” Felicity replied. “Besides, Chris Evans has a super-cute dog.”

Oliver nodded slowly. “And the third?”

Felicity puckered her lips and hummed thoughtfully and narrowed her eyes slightly. Apparently, finding someone who matched Chris Evans and Idris Elba was too hard. Or maybe there were too many guys on her mind.

“Do you want to know who’s on my three-list?”

“Oh, let me guess,” Felicity said. She shifted on the couch, pushing her legs under her butt and resting her hands over Oliver’s on the backrest of the couch. “Margot Robbie, Jennifer Upton and Bar Rafaeli.”

Oliver didn’t even know who that last person was, but it didn’t matter anyway. He shook his head.

“Second try?”

Knowing how competitive Felicity was, he smiled and nodded his head. She could have a million tries and she probably didn’t know. It was one of the many things he loved so much about her.

“Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively and Emilia Clark.”

“Wrong, wrong and wrong.”

“Okay, one last try,” Felicity suggested and didn’t wait for him to answer before she already made her try. “Natalie Portman, Jessica Alba and Julianne Hough.”

Oliver chuckled, shaking his head. When Felicity took in a deep breath, probably about to suggest another three ladies, Oliver captured her lips in a gentle kiss, making every sound that could have fallen from her lips die on her tongue. She just released a low sigh and leaned into the kiss.

When Oliver leaned back, Felicity’s eyes were almost a little hazy. A dreamy smile spread on her lips.

“I don’t need a three-list,” Oliver told her and leaned forward to brush his lips against Felicity’s once more. “I already have the one woman I need in my life.”

Felicity smiled, cocking her head. For a moment, he thought he had won, but it didn’t take long for the expression in her eyes to change. Oliver could see that she was looking right through him.

“Well,” Felicity said slowly, pulling her hands away from his and playing with the topmost button of his henley, “that’s sweet.”

She leaned forward and placed a firm kiss on his lips. Oliver wanted to deepen the kiss, but Felicity pulled back already.

“But I guess that means that you will stay here and watch the kids while I will let Idris Elba, Chris Evans and whoever else I choose to be on my three-list screw my brains out.”

With a chuckle, she pecked his lips once more. She got off the couch and walked towards the door. Stepping into the frame of it, she shot a look back over her shoulder and winked at him though. Oliver couldn’t help but chuckle and shake his head.

What was life and love without a little bit of teasing?

I'll be on vacation for a couple of days. As soon as I am back, I will start posting the next drama storyline.

Wish me luck, so I will hopefully find my muse again while I am away. That little b*tch is hiding from me lately. :D

Waiting on my friend to binge Witcher with me, but I've already played the games, so I fully embrace the memes, and omg the ballad of the fucking year. I'm belting it out in the shower, y'all: Toss a COIN TO YOUR WITCHER! O VALLEY OF PLENTY!

Favorite OC: Ok so I wrote this weird fantasy/scifi that has yet to see the light of day haha. Chaotic good elf with the ability to jump between realms. It's a very indulgent amalgam of everything I love most about both genres, and unlike most of the things I write (smuuuuttt!), it actually has the skeleton of a plot rattling around in it.

Sparkling water, tea or coffee: Every day I try to drink more green tea, but I have that "worship coffee, the dark lord" shirt, so my true allegiance is known to all.

BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN - A ORIGEM DA JUSTIÇA.

Eu não vejo um filme com elenco tão bom sendo ao mesmo tempo tão ruim desde Cold Mountain. Botaram o elenco certo, com algumas ressalvas, no filme errado.

A primeira ressalva óbvia é que o Bátma é o Adam Sandler do drama, a menina do Crepúsculo versão masculina: Ben Affleck.

Ben Affleck, nós sabemos: é aquele ator sem a menor expressão. Sempre fazendo, no máximo, cara de desligado. O que eu gostava no Bruce Wayne do Psicopata Americano é que aquele ator fazia bem o papel do ricaço João Doria nas baladas beneficentes enquanto o Ben Affleck nem isso, bicho. Daí ele tem o Jeremy Irons como Alfred. Jeremy Irons sempre com essa cara de coroa enxuto que vive na praia, mas a barba deixa o rosto dele com aspecto sujo. Naonde que ele passa o dia inteiro numa mansão segurando bandeja e arrumando a cama do patrãozinho?

Não é difícil escolher um ator pra fazer o Superomi porque basta qualquer bonitão sarado de rosto quadrado que fique bem em óculos de armação preta e pesada e tá feito o Clark Quente também. Gostei da escolha desse ator, mas só porque ele é gostoso.

Tenho cisma com Amy Adams e seu narizinho arrebitado, até porque ela dificilmente muda de um filme para outro, então ela tá sempre lá, sendo ela mesma, ruiva (porque nem o cabelo muda). Nesse filme boxta, Amy é a super indefesa Lois Lane. A jornalista pica das galáxias, porém indefesa. Estragaram a personagem, parabéns.

Daí, como se não bastasse, the new Natalie Portman, Gal Gadot, a Mulher Maravilha, aparece no filme inicialmente apenas para seduzir o Bátma nas festa, passeando para lá e para cá de decote profundo, você fica meio que sem saber direito o que ela está fazendo ali e entende que é só para não deixar o Bátma sozinho enquanto interesse romântico e olhe lá. Rola até piadinha machista do Bátma quanto ao vestido de festa da moça, zero surpresa.

No final, você vê que, apesar do título ser BÁTMA VERSUS SUPEROMI, a Mulher Maravilha podia ter feito tudo sozinha: ela é uma deusa, ela é tão forte quanto qualquer um ali; aproveitando que já tava amarrando o vilão Tartaruga Ninja gigante, podia ela merma ter pego a lança com criptonita para matar a Tartaruga Ninja, MAR NAAAAAAAAO, VAMO DEIXAR O MACHO SUPEROMI FAZER ISSO PORQUE É UM FILME PRA MACHO E MULHER AQUI É SÓ DECORATIVA BB. E o Superomi morre junto.

A única boa interpretação desse filme foi do menino do Facebook no papel de Lex Luthor, embora eu ainda ache que o melhor Lex Luthor foi aquele cara de Smallville mesmo (inclusive só assistia por causa dele). Também é o personagem que mais tem diálogos no filme. Superomi e Bátma praticamente não falam nada, só sentem (e o Ben Affleck se sente algo, demonstra pouco). O filme inteiro é só lutinha, de porrada e ego ferido male tears.

Olha, na moral, esse filme me fez passar muita raiva porque ele inteirinho foi um erro: como Bátma pode lutar contra um alienígena invencível? São três horas de filme sendo duas apenas do Bátma com inveja dos poder de Superomi. Mulher Maravilha poderia ter feito todo o serviço sem interferência de macho. No fim o único protagonista que prestava marromeno morre.

Preferia ter maratonado todos os Bátma anos 90. Ou teria sido melhor ir ver o filme do Pelé.
