One thing about crochet is that if you master the basic stitches [single, double, half double and triple] then you're basically all good. But EVERY project will most likely contain some combination of those four! [Although you rarely see the triple crochet stitch] It's also incredibly wise to learn how to chain, make a slipknot and how to make a magic circle/ring/whatever else it could possibly be called. Magic circles are MAINLY used when making amigurumi [Which is basically the art of making little creatures using crochet]. Chaining/Making slipknots are for other projects. [I'm unsure what the primary one is for making clothing since I've only ever made like- Hats/scarves] Also for any beginner crocheters: Please for the love of god use STITCH MARKERS!!!!! Stitch markers will be your bestest of friends!!!!!

THESE LITTLE GUYS!!!! THESE ONES!!!!! It's v frustrating when you lose your place and have to basically redo your ENTIRE project bc you don't exactly remember where you messed up. You should ALSO make sure you're using the right hook size[s] for your yarn as well. There's multiple ways you can figure out which hook size is right for what yarn size!

Also another thing is that nothing's final in crochet. You can take it apart over and over again until you get your desired result!!!!! So don't feel like you NEED to finish a project if you're dissatisfied with it. Work it up Undo it Try again It's all about patience and practice!!!! And you can make a whole shit ton of things with crochet too. - Clothing - Toys - Accessories - Blankets - Pillow cases Hell I've made fucking- Doilies and shit with crochet. There's USUALLY a pattern for everything [Although most of them are unfortunately behind paywalls </3]. You can look up either written patterns or video tutorials! I picked up crochet after my grandma died from cancer bc she enjoyed it a lot when she was alive. My whole motivation to even do crochet is to become skilled enough to make something in her honor. So it's become something like- Super fond of and really proud of for picking up and slowly getting the hang of!!!! And I'm more than happy to talk about it if anyone's ever interested! I have a whole host of tutorials + written patterns that I've saved for future reference and I wanna become a proper fiber artist someday too!!! Have my own little shop on Etsy n stuff.

Hello ! About your post on how greeks arent western, do greeks really considers themselves closer to levantine/north africans than to northern europeans ? Most of the greeks i've seen were adamants that they had way more in common with england or sweden than lebanon or syria and most of you dislike muslims so greeks actually feeling more connected to non euro mediterraneans than others europeans and hanging out with them bc of perceived similarities is really surprising.

I think Greeks who claim we are closer to NW Europeans refer mostly to the social aspect of things, probably to the situation of Human Rights and views of women and minorities. That's what my experience has shown me, at least.

They also forget that they eat roasted lamb on Easter and dance kalamatiano on full volume with their family outside the whole day, or go to a pazari for the festivity of a saint and eat souvlaki, or watch people jump over the fire at festivities, and scream every time they see their grandma putting semedakia everywhere 😂 (stuff closer to the Middle Eastern life) When they have grown up with singers like Sharbel (Lebanese Greek-Cypriot) and Arash (Iranian-Swedish) and songs which are covers with 50 more versions across the Middle East!!!

The latest trend in Greece is to try to be more like the US and NW Europeans culture-wise (Americanization is a big thing here, and it was discussed also in Greek school). This includes seeing traditional Greek culture as barbaric/rural and being ashamed of it. Hence why many Greeks conveniently forget that part of their culture when they compare their daily life to a foreigner's.

Due to the Americanization and turn of Greece toward the EU, many Greeks have not learned about Middle Eastern cultures and actually tend to believe US propaganda which paints Eastern countries as savage backwaters. I've met grown Greeks who think Iran is still at war with Iraq, for example. But they don't know that Iran is actually friendly with Greece (as a Greek you can get an Iranian visa pretty fast), that Greece bought cheap oil from them during our financial crisis, and they also have a cultural center and an embassy in Athens.

Greeks who feel closer to NW Europeans tend to be misinformed about Eastern cultures. I don't think they have taken into account factors like the multitude of common phrases and basic words, our common ways of politeness (how to bring gifts and how to have complicated rituals of politeness like tarof), common ways of receiving guests and honoring other people, same traditional coffee + 90% of our dishes being the same, similar dances, instruments, fairytales, legends, symbolism like the pomegranate, etc.

I don't personally know the Greeks you've spoken to but the attitude of some Greeks when it comes to Eastern cultures is "wait, do you imply that we are like them??" And then you show them how the other culture actually looks like and they're like "huuuh! I had no idea!" Also, last time I checked, NW (Catholic, Protestant, etc) churches didn't have a balcony for women but guess which do: Greek orthodox churches (it's called γυναικωνίτης) and mosques!

Some have not even thought of our similarities until they go abroad and find themselves suddenly vibing and having fun with Arabs and Turks (bonus points for historical jokes). And Lebanon?? The Lebanese are like Greeks 2.0 in appearance, customs (especially with the Christian population), songs, food, family etc. When I first discovered videos of a Lebanese youtuber (shoutout to Mark Hachem) I initially thought his family was Greek-Lebanese from all the similarities. You would have Pascha or a wedding with a Lebanese family and you wouldn't know they were of another ethnicity until you tried to speak to each other 😂

Something else to consider: Greeks say all the time how NW Europeans are not open, how they don't have proper nightlife and don't enjoy their lives, how their cuisine sucks, their dances are silly, they drink without meter, they are too strict, they don't want to be open to other cultures and speak to foreigners in English, they take too long to form friendships, they are very set in their ways. I don't mean that this is true for every single NW European. I only mean that these are basic cultural things that Greeks (with their own biases) recognize as different from theirs to the degree of dislike. How come then that so many Greeks criticize NW Europeans for such basic elements of life, and yet they see themselves to be just like them? Isn't that contradictory?

It's true that in Greece, Afghanis, Syrians, Iranians, Pakistanis, and other Middle Easterners are not seen in the best way but this is mostly because they are "the poor immigrants". You won't be shocked to learn that in Middle Eastern countries they also look down upon their own "poor immigrants" who "bring crime and take jobs". So I would say this is a worldwide phenomenon. In Greece, there's always the historical trauma from our former Muslim conquerors/slavers/genociders (search about the amele taburu) and Erdogan who is quite provocative, but modern socioeconomic barriers and political biases play a much bigger role in how Greeks approach their neighbors. I don't see Greeks having such a problem with rich Arabs from the UAE who buy Greek land, bring their yachts, and close off hotels for their parties, in spite of the larger cultural and religious differences 😉

It's not that we cannot have fun with NW Europeans or that we have nothing in common. Many Greeks have comfortably made a new life in the UK, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Germany etc. Many NW Europeans are a pleasure to befriend as a Greek. And there are various levels of similarities with Western countries depending on the country. With some Greek friends were were saying the other day how we can more easily share a life philosophy with people from the UK and France than the US, for example. (The US is more isolated and far) Of course, we are more likely to feel quite close to South Italians, Spanish, and Portuguese people because we are all around the Mediterranean basin.

On the topic of Palmer being the previous Sinnoh champion, I’ve always wondered what Bertha’s deal is. She’s clearly a veteran Trainer, has likely been in the League since the beginning of Palmer’s time as Champion if not earlier, and could potentially have been a mentor/inspiration figure for Cynthia, but we never really get anything about her from D/P or Masters aside from her being a Wise Old Lady. i mean, the connection between her and agatha is pretty much accepted fanon at this point and im totally on board with it. i def see them as sisters. probably more in the direction of them being friendly rivals when they were younger, but eventually their paths and approaches to battling started to go in different directions so the whole rival thing kinda fell off but they still have a good relationship.

both of them are those old grandmas that everyone holds in high regards and you know you Do Not Fuck With. with agatha its def more overt and she enjoys being a rough ol' biddy but bertha is much more down to earth (lol) and seemingly gentler.

she's never been the type to go out of her way looking for trouble like agatha is, but if trouble comes looking for her, it better watch the fuck out lmao.

i just really enjoy her as like a sinnoh league staple who has been around for ages and ages and has seen the league go through more stuff than anyone else has and knows all the rules and restrictions like the back of her hand and therefore also knows exactly which ones can be ignored and which ones can be bent and she has probably mentored and advised more young trainers than she can remember, and she probably gets periodic visits from some who come to check in and tell her how their life is going.

i think she enjoys her life very much and if you were to sit down with her and have a conversation she'd be very good at making you feel very special and listened to.

i see her being one of those universally loved and respected figures somewhat like betty white was, so it rattles the league to its core when she does eventually die (i dont see her ever retiring. she is on the sinnoh E4 till her last day by jove) and a lot of other leagues from other regions send their condolences and such bc i see her having touched a lot of peoples hearts not just within sinnoh and there is probably a week or so that the sinnoh league closes for mourning

I'd also like to have an actual couple in the party as well. Like, they're already in an established relationship when they join (can even be married, but not necessary; tho it'd be fun for the wedding to happen at some point in the game too).

Unambiguously queer characters.

More female main leads, but with different character archetypes. Also ig that won't happen bc Tales tends to make main leads melee fighters (or, at the very least, mixed) bc ig that's more appealing gameplay-wise, but it's be nice to have a mage/healer as a main for once (or something like an archer maybe).

More ingame costumes that are obtained through relevant sidequests and not just minigames.

An option to turn off quest markers, mini maps, npc bubbles etc. ik they're very useful, but as someone who loves exploring stuff and talking to every npc etc, they really break immersion. Give me back the ability to figure things out by myself again!

A vast world with more than 2-3 main countries.

ok it’s just kinda strange for me rn bc my uncle married an austrian woman (that’s how i have my austrian cousin bc she already had a kid) and my step grandma is also austrian and she might be a little norwegian too (idk i don’t know her family history so well) so i have a lot of people in my family who really like europe

but it’s just kinda weird for me bc they’ll (they as in my now aunt and cousin mostly) talk abt how there are things that are a lot better in europe like public transportation and health care and stuff and obviously i’m happy abt the fact that they have that stuff and i really wish that the USA could take some cues from that, but sometimes the way they talk abt things in the USA just kinda feels like they’re talking down to us

like i know that they are definitely not trying to talk down to us i know that they are very kind people but to me it just feels like… i know things suck here i know that there are so many issues that the USA is really terrible on, but they don’t live here, like me and my parents actually have to deal with this stuff on a daily basis (money wise we’re fine i guess but we’re a family of artists we don’t make much)

so it just kind of feels like they just feel sorry for us and idk, it makes me feel rly bad

Makes sense. Main land Europe has pretty decent connection train wise but taking a plane from say Amsterdam to Dublin would be a lot fast than having to go to Brussels or Paris to get on the Eurostar to London and then getting to Ireland from there.

I would definitely recommend taking at least one long train ride. Especially on main land Europe because there’s a lot of Thalys running between France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany. You can get a train from Paris all the way to Amsterdam or Köln! Most of the time they are very calm and it’s a lot easier than getting on a plane because there’s no excessive background check. These trains also have compartments at the entrance of each cart for luggage storage. Prices do depend on when/at what time you take your train and how much in advance you book it. And cheaper tickets tend to be gone very fast. Usually it’s a chase of comparing to get the right price.

Also, most international trains tend to do an ounce t’s in all local languages + English. I once took a train to Germany and the announcements went German -> Dutch -> French -> English. That’s like 2-3 min. of talking, but at least everyone will understand.

Sorry I’m rambling, I just take a lot of trains (It’s like my main method of going to school because I don’t have a dorm). Also, I had to do like 3+ hours of train yesterday to go visit my grandma and get back, so I’m very much in travel-by-train mode.

I just booked my ticket for the eurostar from london to brussels a few days ago so I'm looking forward to that one. also once I'm in a country i'm planning on taking trains to get between the cities so I'm not just spending all my time in a single city. while I'm starting off in amsterdam, once I loop back around to the netherlands I'm planning on exploring other cities there so I'm thinking I might stay at a hostel in utrecht and then take day trips by train to other parts. that's my loose plan at least since I've heard good things about utrecht

Canon-wise I believe Rio grew up with a humble but living beginning. Middle class lifestyle or slightly lower in class based on what I noticed like his grandma not getting a new stove so when he made money he brought her a new one. I imagine he was close with his cousins growing up. I think he's very much a family man who was once a big hearted kid who grew up in a loving family.

I am a huge collector so this is genuinely an extremely difficult question for me! The quilt my mom and grandma made for me before I was born which became my constant companion is my biggest "grab if the house is on fire" because it's not replaceable. Less purely sentimental stuff wise, I have signed copies of Burgie and Sid's books that I was able to buy before they passed, so they weren't $800. I have a complete collection of historical American Girl Dolls and several pretty rare pieces. I have two pieces of original artwork from Disney films - an inbetweening sketch of John Smith from Pocahontas used in the film I got as a gift bc I did a lot of undergrad work about Jamestown, which I got into because of loving the movie as a kid, and a character reference sheet of Jim Hawkins from Treasure Planet I just got for xmas. I have a big collection of lifesize Pokémon plush... it's like a dragon hoard of nerd stuff in our apartment.

I did admixture analysis on my DNA test and got some really interesting results. I'm really hesitant to talk about it on tik tok bc it's a cesspool but I'm also hesitant to talk about it in general bc people handle ethnicity with the the gentleness of cocaine bear ripping through the forest 😮‍💨. I already knew I was ethnically Jewish on my mother's side bc of my Nana and some family records. I also found some records of my grandpa's parents/aunt's being from Chihuahua, Mexico. There's documentation of at least one Aunt going to one of the Mormon assimilation religious schools. I only have a very small amount of indigenous DNA so 🤷 Idk what it means for me identity wise. My grandpa was a downwinder and my family always said he was fully Welsh but he looks p Iberian imo at least if not also indigenous. His father looks VERY Raramuri tbh.

I also have Caucasian on that side. Like Eurasian Caucasian. Armenian, Azerbaijan, Georgian mix. A lot of it. So that was cool to learn.

My biological father has always been a mystery bc I never knew him. My mom said he was this Sicilian dude she pity fucked. I do have Sicilian, but I have a LOT of like Turkish, Tunisian, Moroccan, Greek, Palestinian, and a lot of Middle Eastern countries (Also more Russian and Eurasian like a ton of Kazakh and idk which side like I'm totally guessing for some of it but my mom totally could be a Eurasian baddie like she's got the features)

Apparently that's really normal for Sicilian's bc the island is really diverse. I kind of cyber stalked the family as best I could and my bio grandma is from Palermo and has a cousin and other family from Tunisia. His ass is divorced, lonely, and a failed theater kid and musician. What does he love? His daughter Daffodil! She is an adult though, so he doesnt see her that often. There is just just much potential to unfold here. With exception of event characters like Granny Felmeir and Najma, all female characters are all off screen. So we kind of have to fill in the blanks of who these women and how they act, and that is where the fun comes in.

Especially for a Miss Yuu, because by default the whole situation raises many questions and concerns that all the mama bears come out. Yuu gets more care packages than their sons. "What do you mean why am I sending her things? You have everything you need and she has nothing. Now be sure to ask if she liked the cookies I sent." Yuu went from barely scraping by to being in want of nothing in just a few months.

We all know Asha, we all know Lilith. I just know Deuces mom is so nice and offers to have her over for breaks if she ever needs it. "Does she have any family? No? Invite her for the holidays right now!" Or Sebeks mom, I like to headcanon that Mrs. Zigvolt is more or less twisted from Fauna, so she is the sweetest lady alive. Her children are her everything and she cannot stand the thought of Yuu being all alone. She will not stand for it.

Mama Ashengrotto and Mama Leech are instigating each other, I just know it. They both like Yuu and love having her around. Theyre going to set up some Kiss the girl type scenes for their sons and hope it works. If Azul or the Tweels win they both win.
