They are very good questions. But I don't have concrete answers, but rather theories. Camila's story with you know who was intense. Not just romantically because we know we can't fully confirm that. But in terms of friendship it was also and we know that it was dramatic.

You have to keep in mind that that was a relationship from when Camila was still a minor so emotions were intense, everything was new and under the public eye. Very chaotic.

Regarding the consequences, I think that this is something that only Camila can answer, but we also know that they do not take these things lightly and that it is possible that there were punishments involved. Besides, when a contract expires and there's a re-sign, it doesn’t necessarily mean that an announcement will be made about it since the record label is still the same. And that's all, dear Anon. Now that you know the real translation *thanks once again, mi amor 💖* , can you see anything that has to do with Mila? Because I don't. In fact, if I really have to find an association with Camren, the only thing that comes to my mind is that Lauren could have written some parts of her verse from Camila's point of view when they were still just fuckbuddies. You know? Since it was Laur who was initially in denial and was afraid, and not Camila. She was the one who was afraid of the idea of even liking Mila, let alone falling in too deep. But it's not like that. There's nothing of Camila here. There's no Camren here. For me, this song is the story of one of the three (Cris Chil, or C. Tangana, or Tainy) and Laur only contributed to it with her talent.

So. Camila created In the Dark the day after going to the Grammys' after-party (February 12, 2017) with which she went with Ashlee as her date of hers. Mila said she got the idea for the song because of the encounter she had at that party with this unnamed famous guy. Yeah, sure, Jan. We know very well that this is not the case. Just as we know very well that that was the same night in which Tyren had their first public appearance as a fake couple. If you're interested, I've already explained all this also with proofs in my previous post: https://fa-by.tumblr.com/post/653296412485894144/romanticentropy-fa-by-hiiii-babies-and-dear (last question in my All These Years' interpretation).

If you don't mind, dear Anon, I'll start with the verses because they're the only parts of the song where Mila isn't addressing Lauren directly. In the verses, Camila just observes her by describing their surroundings.

Verse 1:

“Blank stares, faithless

Vampires at the same places

Shadows, traces”

Okay, let's talk about those types of parties for a moment. I bet that when you think about it, you picture a lot of celebrities having fun and dancing, glam, alcohol, drugs, music, and all those kinds of things, right? Well, that's just as true as it isn't. You see, there aren't just celebrities at those parties. There are one or more of they team members, there are A&R representatives of various labels, CEOs, publicists, producers, marketing representatives, radio and television presenters, reporters, designers, advertisers, etc., etc., etc. Those parties are the epicenter of business-talk. Very often, this is where ideas for collaborations, for PRs, for endorsements and sponsorships, for movie and TV appearances, etc., etc., happen. For those celebrities who have to be there for business reasons and not for actually having fun, those parties are pretty boring.

With those sentences, Mila describes all the people around her during that party. Those people who aren't having fun because they're surrounded by what she calls vampires. Before they marketed them by making them sparkle in the sun because of the crystals on their skin, or before they made them wear a gemstone in daylight rings, bracelets, and amulets to make them walk in the sun, you know? Before they become basically trendy, vampires were always the villains. But don't get me wrong with that. I saw the Twilight saga and I love love love The Vampire Diaries, but the fact remains that before all of that franchise, vampires have always been used in horror and scary genres because they're evil. Also because if you think about it, what do vampires do? They suck blood by basically feeding on the life force of creatures by draining them to survive and not decompose since they're undead. They need to take a life to keep living theirs, so yeah, they are the bad guys.

So Mila here describes both the bored people, the ones with blank stares who in those cases are the shadows of their true selves because they're pretending to be who they aren't, and those people of power as bloodsuckers, life-suckers: vampires. And I don't blame her at all because that's what they do. Vampires, or puppet masters, or parasites, or as you guys know I like to call them: sharks.

“I know that you feel me”

Now. Now, now, now, now, now, now. What does this sentence make us understand? Picture you're in a place full of people. Picture pretending that you're having fun because you can't show how much you actually want to be somewhere else. Picture smiling and forcibly laughing at the bullshit someone's saying. It's all about image. Now picture seeing someone you know amidst that sea of people. You and this person are far from each other, and at the moment, you both are busy talking to other people. Even though you turned around to keep having this oh so great conversation with those people, you can feel the person you know. You can feel their presence despite being on opposite sides. You can totally feel that they're still looking at you, and you have confirmation of that the moment you turn towards them again.

Apply all of this on Camren now. We know how they've always attracted each other. We know how they've always searched and checked each other when they were on opposite sides of a room. We know how they've always felt each other. So it's not that hard for me to picture how it went in this case. I understand what Mila means when she says she knows Laur could feel her despite the place and all the people around them. Because it's always been that way between them, and we've actually seen them do it many times.

Verse 2:

“Plus one, guest list

But you don't even know what her name is

Secrets, endless

I know that you feel me”

This is a repetition similar to the first verse. Mila here continues to describe the people around her and those around Laur. People who are there because they're on a list thanks to someone they don't even really know. People who in those events become totally fake because they all have secrets to hide, including the two of them. People who pretend to be friends with each other just for a matter of image without even knowing their real names, their real selves. People who are so used to wearing a mask that they've by now become that mask. And among all the sea of these people, Mila knows that Laur can feel her. Evidently as much as she can feel Laur.

Refrain:

“You’re runnin', runnin', runnin', runnin' (oh)

Making the rounds with all your fake friends”

As I said before, many celebrities wear a mask, this facade for protection. They do it to show themselves as unproblematic and to show themselves almost as perfect in the eyes of others. If you think about it, it's the same thing we see in many celebrities and even in Camren when they have to promote something. Neither of the two of them has problems showing themselves to us in a vulnerable, authentic way, without make-up ‘al natural’. But as soon as they have to promote something, bam! Dresses, nails done, make-up, and hair. It's quite normal on the one hand. I understand that. But the problem, as Mila herself said, is when this fake persona takes over your authentic self.

In this part, Mila explains how she was observing Lauren's behavior. This facade that she was wearing because they were in that kind of environment with those kinds of people and those fake friends (yes, including Tabloid). This mirage that allowed her to run and hide her true self from everyone, even from Camila herself.

“Runnin', runnin' away from it (away)”

Especially in this part, and despite having seen her fake act many times before, Mila lets us understand how Lauren was 'running' and suppressing/hiding her authentic self in front of everyone. [I remember that period. Lauren didn't act like Lauren for a while]

You can strip down without showing skin, now”

Okay, this? This sentence right here, it's magic. It's pure art. “It's okay to show the realistic side of yourself without exposing yourself and also having to show your secrets or what you want to keep to yourself. There's no need to act like a completely different person from who you are”. Camila leaves me more and more speechless with her way of writing and expressing such true and profound concepts.

Pre-Chorus:

“I can see you're scared of your emotions

I can see you're hoping, you're not hopeless

So why can't you show me?

Why can't you show me?

I can see you're looking for distractions

I can see you're tired of the acting

So why can't you show me?”

The pre-chorus explains itself quite well. Mila's saying “I know you. I see what you're doing. I see your fear. I see the way you want a way out. I see how tired you are of this farce. So why are you faking it? Why are you faking it in front of me? Why are you faking it with me? Show me the real Lauren. Not this industry puppet. Show me the Lauren I know”.

Chorus:

“Who are you in the dark? (I, I)

Show me the scary parts (I, I)

Who are you when it's 3AM and you're all alone

And L.A. doesn't feel like home? (I, I, I)

Who are you in the dark?”

Who are you in the dark? = Who are you when no one's watching. Who are you when no one can judge you. Who are you when you're alone and you can really lower that protective barrier you create around you. Show me that. Show me all of you.

Camila mentions 3AM because, as we well know thanks to their other songs, it was the nighttime hours when they were able to spend more time together freely. She also mentions L.A. to make a comparison with Miami since Los Angeles is the second city they spend the most time in due to their careers.

If in the pre-chorus Mila really asks her to show her her true self, here in the chorus she instead asks her a rhetorical question accompanied by the explanations themselves like the specific examples 3AM and L.A. to make/show her point even more. Basically the same explanation as the pre-chorus: “Who are you, because I know, I know you, so why don't you show me?”. And I really love this connection between pre-chorus and chorus.

Bridge:

“Darling, come on and let me in

Darling, all of the strangers are gone, they're gone

I said, darling, come on and let me see”

The difference between the pre-chorus & chorus and this, is the more affectionate way she addresses her. She's asking her in a cute way also thanks to the use of that classic old-school pet name, to open up and show herself. She's telling her that it's okay now that they're alone. And most importantly, she's reassuring her with this:

“Darling, I promise that I won't run”

After hurting each other, after the omissions and the secrets, after the fights, after the non-communication, after that toxicity, in short, after everything they'd been through in those years and the way things had ended between them almost two months prior, this is really serious. She's promising her that she'll stay. That's the first step, or at least what we know was the first step thanks to this song, towards a healthy relationship and towards a real positive change in their relationship.

And by the way, wooohh, this whole transition is amazing!

Outro:

Even though Camila left and it hurt, Lauren felt like she couldn’t trust he heart to make the right decision even though she knows what’s good for her and she feels guilty and sorry for just wanting Camila back in her life because Camila states that she didn’t really talk to them after she left the group and that would make a person want to feel numb. Lauren lost her best friend while touring the world and I can only imagine the stress of losing a member of your group and still having to tour because that’s taking an effect on your job and your mental health.

“I know it’s tiring// Said all the convincing// I can be someone I feel like I’m not// Who taught me that?//… (I’m skipping some lyrics bare with me here)// Stay// Like the colors on the walls// Paint// But you can’t erase them all”

Being in the public eye is tiring and very very harsh for a teenager/young adult. The comments that were made on her body and her image but she was also struggling with coming to terms with her sexuality. They taught her how to be numb and not be the Lauren she was when she auditioned for X-Factor. They over sexualized her and that's not what she wanted. Camila eventually left the group and her presence had an impact on Lauren. Lauren asks Camila to stay and when she doesn’t, the impact of her leaving leaves “paint on the walls” and we all know paint is mostly permanent and you really can't remove paint.

After this verse she goes into a brief of why she used drugs and overall it was to just numb the pain of heartbreak and a really bad mental health period.

Which leads us to “Scattered”. This track is more of a cry for help which is exactly what she is doing at this point and its in the lyrics. Shes asking for someone to help her with her scattered brain and what’s happening in that beautiful head of hers.

The next track is “Falling”. This track talks heavily about anxiety and the weight of being a big name pop star. Not really much to work off of with this track but it does remind me of somethings gotta give and real friends

The track “On Guard (ft. 6lack)” is very camren coded. She mentions cosmic intuition (cosmos is a very generalized term for space. The sun and the moon referenced here). We also get the reference to Camila’s unreleased song “Scars” and fifth harmony’s “No Way” with the lyric “Take a look under my heart// Your hands over my scars” which scars seem to be a big underlying theme for the both of them because they both sing about their scars, imperfections and demons a lot. This sog is about regaining her trust and taking it slow after regaining her trust. Her heart has been broken before and she wants to keep her heart safe so she stays on guard. This isn’t what actually caught my eye, 6lack’s lyric about East Atlanta (You been missed// East Atlanta love letter// Then i duck off quick// Fall in love with some deep end shit// Don’t try to rush, you break my heart, baby// ‘Cause my defense’s lit, yeah). We all know the lyrics to Camila’s song “Havana” (Havana ohh na na// Half of my heart is in havana ohh na na// HE TOOK ME BACK TO EAST ATLANTA NANANA// Half of my heart is in havana) which leads me to the theory that something important happened in East Atlanta for them to both include it in songs of theirs. It must have been something super important that took an affect on the both of them. And sense it was 6lack who rapped and wrote that part, that puts him in the inner circle as well.

The next song is “Don’t Wanna Say”. This song was presented in a very intimate and passionate way during the concert and it honestly shocked the hell out of me. The lyrics make it even more of a shocker of a song. [Fantom fingertips brush against my skin// Seeking with desire, thinking ‘bout what if// If you go ahead and lean your head closer to mine// And rest your leg against my thigh// Wouldn’t that be something?// Wouldn’t it be? mmm]. These lyrics remind me so much of so many of Camila’s songs. The fantom fingertips remind me of “La Buena Vida'', “Living Proof”,”Don’t Go Yet” and a few other songs. I can’t find them all because that would take absolutely forever and there are so many songs where she mentions hands and touching. Camren also has a bad habit of touching each other's thighs as seen in many interviews. The next lyrics I’m gonna translate as best as I can [I’ll wait for you// Open that mouth, and one thing// I’m not afraid baby// About I already tried// I know, I know you know what to do// With this body that looks as if you see// Wish you grab my face// As you drag your hands to my waist down my back// Wouldn’t that be something heavenly// Yeah, mmm]. These lyrics very much give me living proof vibes with the heavenly reference. The way she performed this song also gives major living proof vibes. From the dress to the choreography it was the other side of living proof and she made sure she made the connections very obvious.

“Brown bear, you’re okay!”

“Princess, you came home.”

“It’ll all be okay.”

“You’re okay and that’s all that matters.”

Looking around the room, everyone was overjoyed that I was awake, but ten voices were all talking at once, making it very hard to concentrate. I wished everyone would shut up. My head hurt and the room was currently spinning.

“Guys, be quiet,” Edward said sharply, cutting everyone off. “Lauren’s having a hard time concentrating with us all talking at once. Let’s calm down and give her a chance to breathe.”

A chorus of soft sorry’s floated around the room. Slowly, the headache dulled and the room stopped spinning. I was having a difficult time breathing as well, but there was a mask on my face helping me get oxygen into my lungs.

Once I was able to collect myself, I looked around the room to my family. Everyone looked so happy to see me awake, but also looked anxious. Almost like they expected me to stop breathing all of the sudden and die. I heard Edward snickering by the foot of my bed and looked to him just in time to see Bella smack his arm. I looked over to the left of my bed, in between Jasper and Alice, and Edward and Bella, is Esme and Carlisle.

“Mom, Dad,” I whimpered.

“Oh, Lauren!” Esme sobbed. “It’ll all be okay. I promise. Everything will be fine.”

“Lauren, if you don’t want to, you don’t have to talk,” Carlisle said. “I know it’s hard to talk with a breathing mask on. Let me explain what happened to you.” I shook my head slowly, so as not to give myself another headache. “You lost a lot of blood, and your body went into Hypovolemic shock. That’s why you are having such a hard time breathing and why you’re nauseous and have a headache. Although, the concussion you got from hitting your head on the side of the bathtub when you lost consciousness isn’t helping matters either. You have some stitches in your legs along the worse cuts as well.”

Memories of everything that had happened, the texts, the razor, the darkness, my parents, the memories, all of it came flooding back. I looked over to Jasper, and tried to squeeze his hand, but I could barely move my fingers. Luckily, he felt that little bit of motion and gave my hand a small squeeze in return.

“You saved me.” I whispered.

“What do you mean, Lauren?” Edward, can you explain? I thought. I was too tired to try and explain what had happened.

“Oh, sure Lauren. Jasper, you’re the reason Lauren woke up. When you kissed her, it gave her the strength to wake up. Without you, she wouldn’t be conscious right now.”

“Oh.” Jasper was at a loss for words. This was a first.

“Also,” Edward spoke, reading my thoughts and voicing them for me. “Lauren said that she knew her gift could make you cry.”

Jasper chuckled softly at that. “Yeah, you always know how to mess with my emotions.”

I gave him a small smile and closed my eyes. I was tired. Even though I had just woken up, a nap sounded amazing. But then again…..

“How....how long…” I croaked out.

“How long have you been out?” Edward said aloud for me. “You’ve been out for a week, but that’s not entirely your fault. You had an emergency surgery when you got here to repair your cut vein, and they’ve kept you in a medically induced coma until about 2 days ago, because you didn’t have enough blood in your body.”

A week? I’ve been out a week? What day was it?

“It’s April 29, Lauren,” Edward said in answer to my unsaid question. The 29th? That meant it was….

“Happy birthday,” Everyone said softly.

“It’s a birthday miracle,” Alice said. I wanted to talk myself and get Edward out of my head, so I began to take off my air mask.

“Lauren, please leave it on,” Carlisle said, stepping forward to keep me from taking the mask off. “You need all the help you can get.”

“I want to talk,” I groaned through the mask. “If I…” I took a slow, deep breath in. “If I can’t breathe, I’ll put it back on.” Carlisle reluctantly pulled his hand away and let me remove the mask.

“I’m really sorry,” I said in a small voice. Most people wouldn’t have been able to hear me, but luckily, my family was made of a bunch of vampires, a werewolf, and a hybrid vampire, who all had super hearing. I spoke slowly, trying to keep enough air in my body so that I wouldn’t pass out again. “I shouldn’t have done that. I just….I can’t deal with Maggie anymore. Ever since you all graduated, she’s gotten worse. Even with Renesmee there.” I started to cry. I knew it would only make my headache and dehydration worse, but I couldn’t help it. I’d been dealing with Maggie for a year without anyone’s help. Even with my vampire siblings and werewolf friends, I managed to hide it for the most part. Even if they knew, they still let me keep my privacy. 

“Oh Lauren,” Rosalie said. “You don’t have to be sorry. We should’ve been there to help. We’ve known about Maggie the whole time, but we figured that if it was truly bothering you, you would’ve come to us to help you.”

“I just wanted to show that I could do something myself. That I didn’t need my siblings to come and save me. To prove that I wasn’t weak,” I sighed. As the little Cullen, my siblings would always be there, no matter what. Throughout my life, I was constantly teased about always having my siblings come to save the day. I had hoped that getting Maggie off of my back, I would be able to prove that I wouldn’t always need my siblings to fix everything, but I guess I was wrong.

“Lauren, don’t think like that. You have done a billion things without us. Mom and Dad have been worried that you don’t need them anymore for the past two years. You’ve taught yourself how to do almost everything you do. The junior math class you’re taking, you did that all on your own. You’re just that smart, and we only help you when you ask for it. You taught yourself how to dance. Even Jasper can’t dance like that and he’s the best.”

“Edward’s right.” Jasper said. I giggled lightly, but quickly stopped since it made my head hurt.

“I guess you’re right,” I admitted. 

“I am right,” Edward said. “Ever since you were two, you refused help. I swear, you potty trained yourself. And as for cleaning up messes, if anything, you clean up our messes. You can easily lie and keep our secret from everyone else. You can see from the eyes of every other kid, and when we do something suspicious, you tell us how to make it look normal. You clean up our messes, not the other way around.”I gave my siblings a big grin. 

“You do mess up a lot.” Everyone laughed at that. It was getting hard to breathe again, so I put the mask back on my face. Can I take a nap? I thought to Edward. 

“Yes Lauren, you can take a nap.”

“I’ll go tell the nurses that you woke up and see if I can get you a nose cannula instead of the one you have,” Carlisle said before he walked out of the room. Not a second after he was gone, I fell fast asleep, a wave of calm hitting me like a brick. Thanks Jasper.

One week later, I was out of there. I could walk by myself, although it was rather slowly, I had my stitches out, I could go to the bathroom by myself, and I could keep my food down, for the most part. I had probably been in the hospital longer than I needed to be, but my father was my doctor, and a very overprotective one at that. The moment I was discharged, Emmett scooped me up and carried me out to the car. 

“You know I can walk, right?”

“Yes, but you move slower than a turtle. If you were walking, it would take us years to get out of there.” Using my arm that was wrapped around his shoulders, I smacked him in the back of the head, rolling my eyes and grinning at him. 

“Hey, that hurt,” he whined. 

“Good”

Emmett set me in the back seat, letting me stretch out, while he climbed into the driver's seat and Rosalie sat in the passenger's seat. Everyone else seemed to have already left. 

“Where’s mom and dad? And everyone else?” I asked. 

“They’re at home already,” Rosalie said, almost as if she was hiding something. 

“Why?”

“It’s a surprise,” Emmett said, grinning at me through the rear view mirror. 

The whole way home I tried to convince them to tell me what the supprime was, but they wouldn’t budge. Eventually, I just gave up and spent the rest of the trip in silence. 

As we pulled into the driveway, I saw that there were strands of lights on all the trees lining the way to the house. Standing on the porch, with two huge “Welcome Home” and “Happy Birthday” signs, was my family. Emmett parked the car and came to help me out. 

As I got out, I realized that it wasn’t just my siblings, but everyone. Tanya, Kate, Garrett, Eleazer, Camren, Benjamin, Tia, Zafrina, Senna, Sue, Charlie, Billy, the entire pack, my siblings, my parents, everyone. They were all here, not only to celebrate my birthday, but to show just how much they cared for me. And I knew, from that day on, I would always be there for them, no matter what came my way. I would always hold onto the memories, the memories of love.

Camren is a dead ship. Get over it bish.

I thought about whether i truly wanted to write this or not. Then again, i thought to myself, this is my vent area i will write whatever the hell i want. You no likey you getaway from me. Simple fact of life right?

So a little background story before we dice the meat and butcher it into pieces. Sony is one of those companies that i hate to love and love to hate. It all started with their almighty creation the PlayStation. Such a phenomal brand that it paved the way for the revolutionizing the gaming industry we know of today. And then lo and behold sony is also famed for killing off its own brands by their lousy marketing efforts or failed attempts. Exhibits A to C: sony vaio, sony erickson, PS Vita (probably one of their greatest massacre of all time). So when i learned that 5H were actually part of the Sony umbrella corporation, (ooo this is a reference. Hint: refer to my handle) all i could think about is who’s the next victim. Well we got our casualty right?

Anyway, next stop on our background story is i’ve heard of 5H way before i’ve learned of camren. I mean i couldn’t even be bothered whoever the hell are the members of 5H were. All i know is that i really liked their song work from home and then I listened to their other songs and appreciated some of their other songs while others not so much. Personally, i just thought of 5H before as another run of the mill generic knock off version of Spice Girls. Funnily enough, they did their own version of Spice Girls. Then i came across never be the same and instanly liked it. I never even knew that she was a former 5H member. Honestly, i still couldn’t be bothered at that time.

Fast track a few months or a year, i had a major setback with my sexuality. I encountered a colleague of mine whom i have developed strong affections for. This totally knocked me off my orbit and bothered me since A) she’s married and B) i’m in denial. I mean at the back of my head i already knew since i was young. I was just suppressing it. No need to go into details since most of us are on the same boat on this. You know the usual ploy of disasterrific coming out agenda and the whole enchalada. So to eleviate some of my concerns, i even ended up consulting professional help from a friend of mine who is practicing professionally. I learned from her that there are even conversion camps to somehow “change us back to normal”. Creepy if you ask and i’m even downplaying it. Anyway, i saw in a facebook post one of my friends attending a pride march here in the Philippines. So i gathered my courage and spoke to her and ended up coming out to her.

Fast track again, she introduced me to camren and the rest is history. I was hooked, lined, and sunk with this dead ship. And i haven’t been the same ever since. I read Bashuda’s post here (hope i got your name right). An open letter to lauren jauregui. And all she’ve said, i’m willling to bet most camren shippers underwent too. We are all looking for that special kind of love that knocks us out of our orbit, takes our breath away, and drives us crazy up the wall. The all consuming type of love that you know is worth every damn fight you’ll have to go through. And somehow, we shippers see that in camren and gives us the hope and courage that the love we all seek do truly exists in this otherwise selfish, relentless, and brutal world we all live in.

So now unto to the main agenda, Lauren’s live or podcast or whatever we call it now with becky g. All i got is that she doesn’t like being called daddy. I concede defeat you shippers arguing in wattpad can now be laid to rest. It’s now finally settled straight from the horse’s mouth. We now can definitely without a doubt say who tops. Hahahaha. Ok, just kidding. I just couldn’t resist. I mean she had it coming. I’m just feeding my crazy self. Although, you know she did say daddy’s get your sh*t *wink wonk*. You know I wouldn’t mind being called a daddy hahahaha. Again couldn’t resist. At this point, i’m just twisting her words and being playful.

Since i can’t control myself from taking shots at her words, let’s continue on with my tomfoolery. Lauren again gave us another proof. This time she proved herself again that she is in fact a living breathing meme. And this meme came into my mind:

Because as i’ve mentioned before i’ve heard of 5H and camila cabello way before i encountered the anomaly of camren. I even searched about 5H because of camila cabello’s involvement in the group. And not in one of those searches did it yield to camren. Not until i was introduced to it by a friend. And now i am clearly a camren fiend.

Anywho, quite obvious to me that the marketing for LJ1 has begun and we are now all entering the hook phase by drawing in attention by creating new drama or reliving or reenvisioning past established conflicts to fit into the narrative. I’m very surprised Lauren spoke out about camren. She tried to years ago but people were nasty to her. There was a fan on Twitter who loved Lauren, but would call ty the n word because she thought her and Camila were together. Lauren found out and spoke out and said they need to stop tagging in in their delusions. She was very outspoken then, but then she stopped because a fan told her to mute the words “pr” “Camren” and Camila. Somehow she still must have gotten people tagging her. If Karlie or Taylor talked about how it made them feel like dolls and not humans. I know taylor said this before, but that woudlnt stop kaylors. TTB said herself not even taylor could convince her that kaylor isn’t real. These are people who aren’t going to take Taylor or Karlie’s words seriously. They don’t actually respect them. They only respect a fictionalized version they created.

Another thing I find interesting is how kaylor also has a lot of similarities in camren. There is an evil outside force that controls “the girls.” The fans always respond with racism or in kaylors case, antisemitism. It’s gross. I wonder if both fan bases respond that way because they know they have power over those marginalized people. Camren fans were angry when Lauren dated Ty, a black man. So much that when she dated him she had to say “I don’t give a fuck if you don’t internet ship us” to the point where she told fans to fuck off. It’s an interesting correlation. There’s really no difference between Camren and Kaylor (and Larry too). To throw a het one, Rob/Kstew also are the exact same.

Let’s unpack it. Do you think the fans that respond with racism, antisemitism, etc. know they have power and want to exert it over those marginalized people (Ty, Josh, etc). Or do you think they are so blinded by a conspiracy they are really willing to show their true colors and be as aggressive as it takes? Lauren hated Camren but she also hated them a lot when she dated ty because they were so racist. Do you also think Karlie feels uncomfortable when people are antisemitic towards Josh? Kaylors always say she hates Josh and doesn’t care. It’s gross. I remember Camren fans would also say Lauren can’t date ty “because with the lights off she wouldn’t be able to see him like Camila.” IMHO, none of these fans deserve empathy or respect when they’re racist and anti-Jewish, let alone making their “faves” highly uncomfortable.

i think that when people dig their heels in, and get very very personally invested in being right... when proving something is more important than anything else (because it’s wrapped up in their ego)... it is hard for them to draw the line between what’s okay and what’s not okay. 

of course karlie is uncomfortable with antisemitism. her husband is jewish but so is she - the jewish faith is obviously super important to her, and in this political climate, she definitely understands how dangerous antisemitism is. NO ONE would ever suggest that karlie is okay with the antisemitism josh gets on here, or twitter, or wherever, even if she was just his beard. karlie isn’t an anti-semite, like... that’s not disputable. but we see blogs here, like TTB, deny that things they’ve said are antisemitic instead of apologizing; and then they gently justify their ‘accidental’ antisemitism by reminding us that josh is bad for xyz reasons. if they apologized, they would implicitly be assigning him humanity that they do not want to give him. and the reason they want to dehumanize josh or scooter or whoever is because having cut and dry, black and white villains makes it easier to cast karlie and taylor as the heroes or damsels in distress in the narrative. 

and imo the whole reason TTB maintains this narrative is because it’s psychologically difficult for her to admit any failure, because she thinks it pokes holes in kaylor, and thus pokes holes in her own ego. i think it’s quite possible that when TTB logs out of tumblr each day, she has a totally different personality and doesn’t care about kaylor as much as she does here. but on tumblr, she and others like her care A LOT. they care too much, to the point where they are willing to be antisemitic or racist or whatever to get their point across.

Which is completely understandable. I agree that she definitely could’ve said things differently, because without knowing it or wiling knowing it when you have a platform, words give people with hate in their soul the power and ammunition they need to reflect it onto people who have never been “that” camren. It’s not even camren that’s the core issue but it makes it seem like it is and that’s why wording is important. If you ever receive anything that’s even slightly bad, block them. As regards your tags in the kaylor/larry ask, i would say that while idk that much about kaylor i can say without certainty that the shipping was one of the biggest factors in breaking harry/louis friendship. Like honestly, louis had a gf and had repeatedly said they were not together, but then it turned into a thing where they could not publicly interact without people speculating that they were together, so they stopped/started overthinking everything and eventually i do believe it really cut into their friendship. To this day, i feel like they can barely say each other’s name in public without having a mini panic moment. Which is just plain sad considering how close they were.

yes!! louis made it clear over and over how disrespectful the shippers were and it’s been said a lot that it made their friendship a lot more difficult because they couldn’t do anything without people overanalysing it and using it as a reason to completely invalidate their actual relationships. i remember one time years ago when some shipper hacked louis’ mum’s emails to try to find proof (and of course found nothing) like if i were them i would sort of feel like no friendship is worth having my private life and that of my loved ones being invaded like that.

i never followed 5th harmony at all but i saw that interview with lauren jauregui and thought it was so sad and frustrating for her and shows how even if someone you’re shipping/projecting onto is bi/gay it’s still really harmful. same with when dan howell came out and said that people shipping and speculating actually made things worse.

taylor unfortunately is so used to people inserting themselves into her personal life that she’s learned how to detach from what people try to theorise (although she did quite recently compare being shipped/people picking her favourite friends to people stalking her location and feeling like a doll in a dollhouse so it must get under her skin sometimes!)
